His Royal Mercy
Lascivious grace in which all ill well shows,
Kill me with spites; yet we must not be foes.
That day changed history. The cool autumn night that Lilyana James was walking down the street in a town outside Paris, France knowing that it had to be one of the most dangerous streets in the world, but having to walk down there, for the man who was her hero had asked her to do something and she would do it for him. She had the package and was trying to walk as fast as possible but not run or draw attention to herself. But that plan was not working for her. She was the only one out and knew she was being followed. Lilyana gripped her wand tight, moving even faster as she was hardening her defences against anyone who tried to read her mind. She stopped dead when she heard her follower’s high-pitched laugh. She turned and sent a stunner at him then ran, not waiting to see if it hit its mark.
Her feet were swept from under her as her wand flew out of her hand. Lilyana hit the cold stone and knew that whoever had been following her was standing behind her. She crawled until she saw a wall before her and heard her attacker laugh the high, cold laugh that sent shivers down her back. She got to the wall and picked up her wand, spinning so her wand was pointed at her attacker and placed her back against the wall. What she saw would have made anyone faint. A face whiter than any should be with red eyes that made her gulp and inwardly flinch. And a nose that was flat with slits like a snake…
Lord Voldermort was standing before her, his wand raised.
She stared boldly into his eyes, daring him to make a move and at the same time trying to hide her fear.
Voldermort felt something that was foreign and almost painful inside him arise. He looked upon the girl in front of him and was… pleased. She was tall he knew that, and wore the latest Muggle fashion, a long military coat that was a dark green and buttoned, long dark blue jeans and dark brown high heeled boots. How she had run in them was a mystery to him. She had curly brown-red hair and brown eyes that stared at him, that dared him and yet could barley hide the fear that she felt.
“Expelliarmus!”
Lilyana felt the wand fly into the air and knew her one defence was gone.
“You killed my parents, now you kill me. Fitting. You, coward, I guess you didn’t let them fight either. ” said Lilyana, who all a sudden felt no fear and just stared back into those scary red eyes.
“What?”
His voice sounded normal, but there was no way she was going to buy it –no way.
“You killed my parents, aren’t you going to kill me to? Or is this just some new twisted game of yours?”
The fact that she talked to him, was not begging for her life, and was insulting him with no fear in her voice or eyes stunned him with admiration. She just sat there her back pressed against the wall staring up at him. He bent down and picked up her wand. He put his in his pocket and held hers out to her.
She looked at him curious. Was he tricking her or was Lord Voldermort letting her live?
“Take it.”
What was wrong with this picture! He was actually showing mercy, to her? Why her? She reached out and took her wand back from the murderer. Lord Voldermort stood and offered her his hand. She looked at the hand he offered.
“I’m not going to join your Death Eaters if that is what you want.” Lilyana said. “I’m in the Order of the Phoenix. There is no way in heck I am going to join you.”
A smile crept across his face, creeping her out. He spoke: “I didn’t ask you to join. I was just offering a hand up. But if you prefer I could put you under the Imperius Curse.” Her eyes lit up with a kindled fire.
“Try it, it wouldn’t work.”
The smile grew. She looked at him doubtfully then at his out stretched hand.
“Let me make this clear to you, I could kill you or take you right now. But I am not. The only way you will get down this street alive is if you take my hand. I can protect you. And as soon as we get to the safer streets you may go,” said Voldermort. She watched him for a second and then took the hand. He helped pull her up, and then released it.
“Follow me.”
He walked off, Lilyana just steps behind him. He glanced back at her and she looked at him straight in the eyes.
“What is your name?”
She could have sworn that they were not as red and that the vertical slits were rounder and blue crept around the edges of the pupils.
“Lilyana James.”
“James?”
“My parents were Alfred and Sari James.” Lilyana said, watching him closely.
“I had hoped in the beginning that your parents would join me.”
“They would never.”
“That’s why they are dead.”
A shiver went through her, making her want to weep.
“I wouldn’t join you; does that mean you’ll kill me?”
No answer.
“Why would you spare me, Voldermort? I am your enemy and I work for the greatest wizard of all time, Albus Dumbledore.” Lilyana said knowing that she was directly insulting Voldermort.
“If Dumbledore is so great then why, Miss. James, would a rather large amount of my Death Eaters be at Hogwarts right now and why would Albus Dumbledore be dead at this moment,” said Voldermort some of the red and vertical slits coming back.
“Dumbledore is only truly gone when none are loyal to him,”
“NOT EVEN DUMBLEDORE CAN ESCAPE THE POWER OF MY WRATH!!!” Voldermort screamed. Lilyana smirked.
“Then why is there fear in your eyes.”
“I should kill you for that insolent –”
“Then kill me. I am not afraid of death.”
“Everyone is afraid of death. Everyone.”
“Then I guess I am not ‘everyone’, because if I were you would have already killed me.”
“What makes you think that?”
“Your eyes.”
Before he could say anything more, she apparated. They reached the spot where any could.
She appeared at Hogwarts looking up at the symbol. No someone had… it was then she spotted two figures running towards her. She hid by the gate just out of sight with her wand at ready.
“Run, Draco!”
She crouched and watched the pale form of Draco Malfoy ran out the gates. He was just about to apparate when Lilyana used said “Petrificus Totalus!”
Lilyana walked forward and smiled crouching next to the stunned Malfoy.
“Mr. Malfoy glad to see you could make it. I believe we need to go to my house and have a little chat just you and me, what do you think about that?” Lilyana smiled and waved her wand. When] Malfoy transformed into a white ferret, she picked it up and apparated. With a wave of her wand Malfoy appeared human again but could not move anything but his head. She sat him in a chair and after making sure he was tied up, set around lighting the room.
It only contained old second hand furniture and had a few pictures on the walls. It was obviously a parlour of sorts and had a fireplace which now roared with flames that cast leaping shadows on the wall, which, by Malfoy’s face, even that frighten him. The candles were lit and made the room a little brighter. Malfoy was chained to a plain wood chair and Lilyana sat across from him in a wing-backed chair on the edge of her seat playing with his wand in her fingers as hers lay on the end table beside her.
“Do you know who I am?”
“Lilyana James.”
“Good. Now tell me is Dumbledore back at Hogwarts yet and that was why the Death Eaters were running?”
“Professor Dumbledore is dead. I saw Snape kill him myself.” There was no boast in his voice there was only regret.
“Snape would never kill Dumbledore.”
“He did. He killed him.”
“No, it’s not possible. You’re lying.”
“I wish I was.”
“I am going to ask you one question, and I hope you answer this wrong, because I will have fun in torturing you. Where will Snape go after Voldermort is done with him?”
Fire sat in the back row in all black as she watched the funeral of the man who had protected her for a little less than two years after she had graduated, the man who had always been there, the man who had been a second father to her. All that she could think of was “what if she had been there”; so many ifs surrounded her she didn’t even notice Harry Potter, whom she had sworn to protect walk off. She didn’t even see Lupin’s nod to her. All she could think of was killing Severus Snape the man who had taken her godfather from her.
Eventually, very slowly Lilyana got up and walked off. She went outside the gates and disappeared. She apparated outside of Snape’s door and burst in. Peter Pettigrew and Severus Snape were standing in the parlour. Her wand was out as both Pettigrew’s and Snape’s wand flew out of their hands. Lilyana stepped forward a fire in her eyes that made Peter cower and Snape take a step back, and flinch without knowing it. Somehow the wind was blowing from inside the house making her cloak billow behind her. Lilyana walked straight toward Snape just barely taking time to use Petrificus Totalus on Peter.
“James, don’t do anything irrational” said Snape holding up his hands. Before he could stop her, she punched him, knocking him off balance.
“Now why Professor Snape, would I do anything ‘irrational’?” asked Lilyana, the “Professor” was more of a sneer. Before Snape could recover his balance she punched him again.
“You can’t kill me, you’d go to Azkaban.”
“Really? Then why in the Daily Prophet did it say if you were found, the finder – I - could kill you?”
“You wouldn’t.”
“And why wouldn’t I Professor?”
“Because, Dumbledore wouldn’t have wanted you too.”
“Do I look like I care?”
“You kill me, you are no better than the Dark Lord.”
“At least I will have my revenge.”
“Would you really murder me in cold blood?”
“Yes.” Her voice was chilly.
“Dumbledore would not have approved.”
“Well now I will never know what Dumbledore wanted because of YOU!” she yelled fighting back tears. “Malfoy told me he begged/[i] you! He trusted you! He vouched for you, and swore you were on our side! And you killed him!”
“He [i]begged me to kill him! You don’t have all the facts, Miss. James!”
“I don’t care! You should die!”
“Trust me I want to, but Dumbledore left me alive for a reason! If you got all the facts from Draco then he would have told you I was under an Unbreakable Vow!”
“You killed him!” she clung to that fact with all her might.
“I didn’t want to.”
“Then why did you!”
“I am sorry. Trust me if I could change time I would, but I can’t, Miss James. If I could change time I would have saved Lily and James Potter even if I hated James! If I could I would have changed many things! But I can’t, I can’t!” said Snape his voice becoming weaker and his eyes growing misty. Lilyana slowly lowered her wand.
“I believe you.”
“You do?”
She could tell by his voice he was glad that someone believed him; someone might possibly even trust him again.
“I do.”
“Thank you.” He walked forward and hugged her tight. “Thank you, thank you.”
“What should I do?”
“What?” Snape let go of her backing up.
“Dumbledore said if anything ever happened to him, that I should trust you and your decisions and follow your orders…”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Dumbledore sent you for a package, what is it?”
“I haven’t opened it, yet.”
“Do you have it?”
“Yes.”
“Open it and read it aloud.” Snape ordered.
“What about him?” she nodded to Pettigrew.
“Oh yes, I will wipe his memory later but first. Stupefy!” Snape said as he picked up his wand. He then used Locomotor on Peter so he was behind a concealed door.
“Now.”
Lilyana opened the package. A necklace fell out along with a letter and another piece of paper. Lilyana picked up both and read the letter aloud:
Dear Dumbledore
I wrote this to you to tell you this: I am sorry I was never like my older brother, Sirius Black and I wish I could have had the honour of working by your side in the War against the Dark Lord. I always secretly admired you and I wish I had never fallen in with the wrong crowd. Please forgive all of my many mistakes. But I write this for a more noble reason, then for telling you all that. I write to tell you that the Dark Lord has asked me to do something that made me want to puke. I have seen the errors of my ways. But I also learned something. The Dark Lord had seven Horcuxes. All were hidden. Now he has six. This necklace is what he hid it inside. According to my information he has them stored away safely. I hope you can find these and make the Dark Lord mortal again.
I pray this redeems me in your eyes a little. In closed is a list of possible locations for them.
Praying that it is you reading this,
Regulus A. Black
“Here is a list of all the possible locations! Oh my, that will help a great deal,” Lilyana said excited.
“Alright. I know Dumbledore has found out that two are gone. And these he has already searched. Here are my orders to you, James, you are to go and find these, and I must stay close to the Dark Lord. Be careful.”
“Yes sir.” Lilyana turned to leave and then turned around. “What about Potter, he is probably going after these as well. Should I tell him some of this so we can spilt up and cover more ground? It is a long list.”
“Potter? Go ahead, but only if you think he can handle this,” Snape sneered.
“Dumbledore believes in Potter, why shouldn’t we?”
“Go, you made your point.” Said Snape.
“And Professor Snape, you don’t have to call me by my surname, go ahead and call me Lily.”
Something in Snape’s eyes made Lily stop. Was it? He then said to confirm what she thought. “If we are to address each other with any respect or familiarity like I did… with Albus, then you must call me Severus.” The look in his eyes made Lily smile. It was respect.
“Pro – Severus.” Lily smiled.
“Lily, try at the Weasleys.”
“I will.”
She apparated.
A week later, she was shocked to see wedding decorations and looked at her clothes. She didn’t look like she belonged here. Before she could apparate, Fred, George, and Ron Weasley, walked up to her.
“Hello, it’s Lily James right?” asked Fred.
“I thought it was Anna?” said his twin.
“It’s Lilyana. Thank you. I just came here to talk to Harry,” said Lily.
“No one talks to Harry without our knowing everything about her,” said George.
“Or him.” Fred commented.
“Boys are you stupid or something?” asked Kingsley Shackbolt. “Lilyana is one of the Order and was a great friend of Dumbledore.”
“Thanks, Kingsley,” Lily said. “Now, can I talk to him?”
“You should stay for the wedding, Bill wouldn’t mind, seeing as you and he are on such friendly terms. Did you not get an invite?” asked Kingsley.
“I’ve been – busy lately. I didn’t think I could make it and after I talk to Harry, I got to go. Sorry. I sent a gift,” said Lily.
“Its fine I am sure Bill will understand,” said Fred.
“Come on I’ll show you where Harry is.”
“Shouldn’t you have asked me a question to make sure I wasn’t Voldermort?” asked Lily. Fred, George and Kingsley blanched and looked at her in shock, though Ron only looked at her in shock.
“We should, shouldn’t we?” said Fred.
“That don’t matter, you said You-Know-Who’s name!” said George.
“You never would say that name except around Dumbledore!” said Kingsley.
“Yeah well, Dumbledore died. I don’t have a protector anymore so a girl got to learn how to take care of herself,” said Lily. “Besides I met Voldermort, he’s not that scary.”
“What and your alive? Is that why you have to leave?” the questions came.
“Do I look dead? No. Where’s Harry?” asked Lily.
“We haven’t asked you a question. When after one of the Order meetings I asked you a question that we had fun with later. What was it?” Kingsley asked.
“You asked if I needed you to walk me home. I said no. Then you asked, as a joke, if I’d walk you home because you were scared,” Lily said. Kingsley smiled.
“Alright, Ron go ahead and show her where Harry is,” said Kingsley.
“Okay, follow me,” said Ron rather haughtily.
“You don’t have to lead me, just tell me where he is,” said Lily.
“Sorry, but I can’t,” said Ron as he entered the house and started up the stairs with Lily in tow. They reached the top and Ron knocked as someone was heard coming up the stairs. Harry opened the door as Hermione appeared behind Lily.
“Ron, why’d you knock? It’s your room,” said Harry.
“Making sure you were clothed,” said Ron.
“Harry, I am Lilyana James. Can I talk to you, alone?” Lily said glancing at Ron and Hermione.
“Whatever you can tell me, you can tell them,” stated Harry. “I’ll just tell them later.”
“Fine. Can we all talk in private and a little less exposed?” asked Lily not hiding her annoyance. Harry moved aside and Hermione, Lily and Ron entered. Lily closed the door and drew her wand. All three wands were out and pointed at her. Lily pointed her wand toward the door and it locked and made it so none could eavesdrop. “Goodness you’re jumpy.”
“We have to be, with Voldermort on the lose,” shrugged Hermione.
“I wasn’t condemning, I was complementing. And I admire your courage on saying Voldermort’s name, even though you have never faced him,” said Lily.
“Who are you, that you can say his name?” asked Harry.
“A friend. And I myself have faced Voldermort,” said Lily. “Now, for why I am here. You were not the only ones who knew about the horcruxes . I don’t know if Dumbledore ever told you, but he was my godfather. And my guardian in the sense of him always was protecting me, like he was your unofficial guardian. When he died he left my… guarding, I guess, to myself having told me the day before that he believed in my abilities. But he did ask me to guard you. Not because he didn’t believe in you, but because he knew there would be tons of people who would want you dead or to harm you both psychically and emotionally. Not that he didn’t believe that you, Mr. Weasley and Miss Granger couldn’t do it. But because he knew that you would need a… little bit older guardian he trusted.
“Getting to the point, when I talked with him, he told me to trust Severus, no matter what even if he did something that may have been unforgivable. I forgot that when I went and visited Severus. Turns out Dumbledore asked Severus to. So I remembered it before it was too late.
“The day Dumbledore died he asked me to go on a mission he trusted me with whole-heartedly. I went to a small town outside Paris. There I went down the most dangerous street in the world, especially for one not a Death Eater. I got down and to the post office and got a letter that was… special and critical to our winning the war. This post office was a Death Eater outpost. I nearly got killed leaving it.
“So after… Voldermort told me that Dumbledore had been killed I went to Hogwarts. There I found Draco Malfoy running out. I captured him and integrated interrogated him. He should, right now, be turning himself into the Ministry right now. I found out where Snape was. After the funeral I went to Spinners End and found Severus. There we joined forces after… having some aggressive negotiations during which I remembered what Dumbledore said. There I told Snape I would follow his orders. We opened the letter that I had got. Here it is if you wish to read it.” She handed them the letter and they all read.
“Where’s this list?” asked Hermione.
“In my possession. I have already checked out four of the locations. I am giving you three and I am taking the one where Regulas was sure the cup was. You will be going after Ravenclaw’s bronze ring. The jewel should be in the shape of an eagle,” said Lily.
“How do you know all of this? And why don’t we get the cup?”
“To get the cup you will have to have at least a year of commitment. Why else do you think Regulas didn’t go after it himself?” asked Lily. “I’ll be gone for at least that time or longer.”
“Lilyana, please stay and let us have one day to get to know each other,” said Harry.
“I wish I could…”
“Please, Miss James?” asked Hermione.
“I will think about it,” said Lily. “Besides I’m not wearing the right outfit.”
“I can fix that,” said Hermione.
“You look Fleurs size. I am sure she’ll loan you some clothes since you’re a friend of Bill’s.” said Ron.
“Okay,” said Lily looking upset. Hermione took her hand and led Lily downstairs there they met the bride who Lily knew and was given a knee length dress that was a beautiful shade of brown that fit Lily just right. The dress was sort of tank top style with a low v-neck in both front and back. Lily admired herself and even Fleur admitted that Lily looked better in the dress than herself. Lily let her long curls down and tucked a yellow lily behind her ear. Lily and Hermione went out and took their seats, being escorted to them by the twins who made them laugh. The wedding was about to start when Lily leaned over to Hermione.
“Where’s Harry and Ron?” asked the older one to the younger.
“They are actually groomsmen.” Lily choked back a laugh as they entered. The wedding was rather long and boring, but seeing Ginny in the bright pink dress looking sick and hot was rather funny. When the wedding was over they all crowded over to the tables laid with food to both get food and water and to congratulate the newly weds. Lily stood in line by herself as Hermione went to go look for Harry and Ron. She hugged Bill and thanked Fleur again for the use of her dress. Which Fleur said with a smile that she could keep.
Lily had just spotted Kingsley and some of the Order and was about to go over to them when Oliver Wood popped up and smiled at her. Lily groaned inwardly, her and Wood had dated for a little while but not long after they had started she couldn’t take his obsession over Quidditch anymore and had broken up with him. She was just saved by Tonks clumsiness in spilling water all down the front of Woods robes. Tonks led her over to the rest of the group, and Lily enjoyed the conversation immensely.
Lord Voldermort looked at Bellatrix in a rage. She had been sent on a mission and she had failed him. He had trusted her with an important mission that he wanted done and she had failed.
“One mission. I send you by yourself and ask you one favor for your liege lord and you FAIL HIM!!!” Voldermort’s voice was full of rage that made Bellatrix cringe and backing away a step. “All I wanted was for you to go and bring back a girl, who I thought you could possibly take! I guess I was wrong. I asked you to go and get Lilyana James from her house and you, who I thought was one of my more faithful servants FAILED!!! You know what the consequences are.”
“Please, my lord, please don’t! Please!” begged Bellatrix.
“You failed me, as your brother-in-law did, as your prized nephew.” Lord Voldermort lifted his wand…
Lily smiled at Harry as he walked over. She felt her stomach tighten, as it had done around Wood when she had liked him…
No, no, no! I can’t like him! I am his guardian! No way! I am three years older than him, I can’t… thought Lily. Harry had now drawn level with her, and grinned at her.
“Lilyana, may I have the pleasure of the first dance with you?” asked Harry. She could tell he was nervous. She smiled at him.
“Of course.” Said Lily. “But under one condition. You must call me ‘Lily’.”
“Then may I escort you out to the dance floor, Lily?” asked Harry with a smile.
“Lead away,” said Lily as Fleur and Bill walked out onto the dance floor and the singer invited everyone to join them. Lily took Harry’s arm and let him lead her so they stood between Tonks and Lupin and Ron and Hermione, all of which were glowing and smiling at their partners. Harry moved so his hand was on her waist and holding her left hand, while she gently and with practiced ease placed her right hand on his arm.
“Do you dance much, Harry?”
“A little, and not very well.” Harry admitted.
“Can you waltz?”
“I can, kind of.”
“Then it is your lucky day. I happen to be a very good dancer in both Ballroom and Latin dances,” said Lily with a smile. The waltz began and it was soon recognized as Lily being the best dancer on the floor. She would occasionally throw in something that looked beautiful yet no one could copy, though several tried. But otherwise she kept it simple, for Harry’s sake. Harry bowed as the song ended and smiled as Charlie walked up to them.
“Harry, I think my sister is a little jealous and I think that Miss James can easily out dance you,” said Charlie with a smile. He then bowed to Lily who he had seen recently at an Order meeting. “Lilyana, may I have the pleasure of a dance?”
“Harry, do you mind?” asked Lily.
“Of course not,” said Harry he smiled and went off in search of Ginny as Charlie smiled at his youngest brother. The singer said they were about to start a samba.
“Can you dance this, Charlie?” asked Lily unsure.
“Me? Of course,” said Charlie. They then went all over the dance floor shocking some of the people there as they each pushed the other to do little things that made the performance. At the end Charlie bowed and more partners appeared.
After dancing with many people the last dance came on which was a slow song that was free-style, which the twins took to literally and started dancing some freaky solo dances. Lily was standing on the edge when Harry came up and offered her his hand. Lily took it and smiled as he led her out. He pulled her tight and moved so they were constantly touching each other and her head was resting it on his shoulder.
“Harry, this is really nice.”
“I don’t want it to end, Lily.”
“Harry, we can’t be together. I’m too old for you. I am three years older.”
“So what? People get together all the time and they can be eight years older,” said Harry. “Please, trust me.”
“But it’s too dangerous and I am going away for a year.”
“So what? Lily there is something about you – it just makes me drawn to you. I never felt this with Cho or Ginny. Never. I was always nervous even around them. But you, oh Lily you, I feel something deeper something that hurts with how much I like you,” said Harry. “I will wait for you. I promise. You could be gone for twenty years and I’d still wait.”
“You would?”
“Yes.”
Lily glowed and dug her face into his neck, with a goofy grin. Then quietly so even Harry could barley hear it.
“I would too.”
Harry smiled and held onto her tighter.
That night, that one dance was going to have to sustain them for a year or more. Because the next day they both parted, with many tears in their eyes though none were shed, and did not see each other for over a year.
A year and a half later Lily came back to London after having finally destroying the horcrux and taking the cup of Helga Hufflepuff with her. She was walking down the street after having met with Severus and heard footsteps following her. Fire turned her head ever so slightly and saw three Death Eaters following her; she picked up her pace just a little and then saw two more coming towards her. She put her hand in her pocket and slipped her wand ever so subtly up her sleeve. She pulled her hand out of her pocked and pointed her wand back towards the Death Eaters behind her. Three stunning spells flew as her wand fell into her actual hand and pointed it at the ones in front of her. She flicked her wand, and the stunners they had sent at her disappeared.
“I’ll take her,” said the one on the left who was obliviously female. She stepped forward with her wand out and strode up to Lily as if she owned the world. The female bowed and Lily nodded her head. The female Death Eater raised her wand and started firing off curses and jinxes as Lily started using all the counters she could think of. Then suddenly Lily sent a curse at her. The Death Eater fell to the street groaning in pain. Lily smiled.
“Now I know that didn’t hurt, Bellatrix.” Lily stared down at her. Bellatrix looked up at her with pure and utter hatred in her eyes.
“He was supposed to want me, not you. Me. His most faithful servant and yet he wants you.” Said Bellatrix.
“Who? Voldermort?”
“You say His name as if it was common or unholy,” said Bellatrix. “You realize if you do not cooperate with His wishes He will kill you. Slowly and very painfully.”
“He can get in line,” growled Lily. “Besides that is just what you want isn’t it?”
“Kill me, or fight me. But do not pity me; I do not want your pity.”
“No you want Voldermort’s. Because that’ll make you so special, so loved. Yet you do realize if Voldermort pities you, he will kill you.” Bellatrix sent the Cruciatus Curse at Lily who doubled over in pain as Bellatrix fed the curse with her hatred. She rose as Lily fell and dropped her wand. Her screams rent the night air. Then as she stopped and she started to recover, it started again. Tears rolled down her cheeks. All sudden everything was black.
Lily woke up on a soft bed and heard people moving around near her. She opened her eyes almost afraid of what she’d see. She saw a tall, bald black man, who stood by the door, which she recognized as Kingsley Shackbolt. Lily also saw Ron, Hermione, Lupin, and Mrs. Weasley, all scattered around the small room. But the person she had most missed sat by her bedside holding her hand. She squeezed the hand tightly to show that she was awake.
Harry jumped and smiled. “Good morning, you look lovely.” He said the smile huge. That made all those in the room look at her and smile.
“You’re awake. We were so scarred when Harry, Lupin and Kingsley brought you in, we thought you were dead,” said Molly. “How are you, dear?”
“I’m fine, besides the stiffness and the slight headache,” said Lily. “Where am I? Is this headquarters?”
“Yes, we thought it safest for you,” said Kingsley in his deep voice that made Lily smile as she remembered how much she had missed it. “How was China?”
“Oh you know? The usual. Nearly dying, fighting other wizards.” Said Lily.
“I’m going to go and make you some food; Chinese food is not nearly good enough.” Molly bustling off.
“I’m sure Tonks would love to help, Molly,” Remus called.
“I’m sure she will.”
“We’ll come and help, won’t we Ron.” Hermione hinted staring at the red haired boy.
“What? Fine.”
“I got to go; I’ll take you home tomorrow. And I’ll see if I can get off to stay with you,” said Kingsley as he walked over he stopped and stooped forward and kissed Lily’s forehead. Then turned and walked toward the door.
“Thanks, I’ll see you tomorrow,” said Lily. Kingsley stopped and turned standing in the doorway.
“Harry, make sure she does not leave in till I come and get her,” said Kingsley.
“I will.”
“I’ll walk you out, Kingsley,” said Lupin they left closing the door behind them. Harry smiled and looked around. They were the only ones in the room.
“Did you get it?” they both asked at the same time making each other laugh.
“Yeah,” said Lily. “Destroying it nearly cost me my life, and getting out of there without being detected.”
“I won’t be here today, without Hermione’s knowledge,” Harry said. “And I missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
“You know we have never kissed?” asked Harry. “I realized that like a month after you were gone.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“We could rectify that if you want,” said Harry.
“Do I really need to give you permission?” asked Lily. Harry smiled as his green eyes sparkled. He leaned forward and their lips met as Lily’s hand went to rest on his jawbone, as his hands touched her cheeks. He moved so he was sitting on the bed with her, the kiss not ending. One hand moved so it was on the back of her neck titling her head up, as the other rested on the small of her back. Lily threw an arm around his neck. She ended the kiss as they heard someone coming up the steps. They moved further apart, letting each other go.
“Lily…”
“I know Harry; I didn’t want it to end either.”
Lily and Harry talked into the night with Ron and Hermione some times coming in and joining in the discussion but it was mostly them. Lily talked about how she had gone to Durmstrang for five years till her parents and her moved to England where Dumbledore had allowed her to join Hogwarts, how her sixth year she was in Hufflepuff and her seventh she was transferred to Gryffindor, and her little cousin who she had met once named Firelilian, the fact she was a heir of Hufflepuff, and how she had a strange immunity towards Veritaserum. Harry talked about his life at Hogwarts and his adventures and Sirius, his godfather, and above all else Dumbledore. She felt closer to Harry than ever hearing him talk about Dumbledore. She felt as if this was one of her happiest moments in her life and wondered how anything bad could happen.

Lily walked into her apartment escorted by Kingsley. He looked around then grabbed Lily’s arm forcing her into the wall and behind him. A handful of Death Eaters entered the room, but at their head was…
“Voldermort.” Lily said quietly.
“You have been a pain to catch, my dear,” said Voldermort as Kingsley had his wand out. Lily drew hers and pushed Kingsley so she could get out from behind him. “I will offer you this, Lilyana. You come over here and hand me your wand and I will let your friend live. You don’t, I will kill him.”
“Lily, run, leave,” said Kingsley.
“You want to kill him, you will have to kill me first.” said Lily moving in front of him, her head held high.
“Fine,” said Voldermort, “Imperio!”
Lily threw off the curse as if it was a hat.
“Rockwood.” Voldermort growled. A stunner flew at Lily but she deflected it with a lazy wave of her wand. Voldermort moved forward and grabbed Lily by her hair. Kingsley jumped to her defense and sent a curse at Voldermort. It hit, which stunned everyone there. Voldermort threw Lily and walked toward Kingsley who didn’t even flinch but stared into the deadly eyes.
“Avada Kedavra!”
“No!!!” yelled Lily, as the room flashed green. As the flash dissipated Lily saw Kingsley fall to the ground. Tears rolled down her face as Rockwood walked over and hauled her to her feet as another took her wand.
“That is what anyone gets for attacking me, Lord Voldermort!” yelled Voldermort, as Rockwood tried to restrain Lily.
“You killed him! You killed him! You little – “
“Of course I did,” said Voldermort. He nodded to Rockwood who knocked Lily over the head. She slacked in his arms, knocked out.
Ah but those tears which thy love sheds,
And they are rich and ransom all ill deeds.
And they are rich and ransom all ill deeds.
