I'm into anything that sounds good.
Shadowfox
It's funny I love music so much, and 'rock' using it as a *very* broad term is the music I listen to. But not really.

You'd think, especially because I play guitar, I would know what each of the bands I listen to are. I know a lot are emo, because my friends at work keep calling me that tongue.gif the losers. But I'm not entirely that, I listen to *sooo* much.

Hmmm... out of the ones you listed Jeff I like Jet. But I'm not really into anything that isn't from now, which is why I voted for it haha.
astronomylover
I like Oldies rock and roll. Bands such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Journey, and Aerosmith Rock My World! But Simple Plan rocks as well.
doomed_renascence
My kind of rock music ranges from the 80's to now, sorta. Although I don't know if you would consider my 80's rock music rock or pop, but the 80's were still awesome nonetheless. For current rock music...erm, it's considered alternative I guess =\

Faves are:
Red Hot Chili Peppers, old school version of No Doubt, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, the Strokes, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Aerosmith, Weezer, and others that I can't think of right now tongue.gif
Naz
i like rock that comes on the radio now!!

i cant stand metal, it makes me dizzy (dont ask why)

and i dont like old songs either
Jeff
Hey Shadowfox i play guitar too
Shadowfox
Really? That's cool! Ya I have two guitars, both fenders. One accoustic and one strat in shell pink^.^ It's a vintage styled one, it's so pretty! Hehehe.

I love guitar. hmm...right now I am listening to Brand New. What would u consider that to be? I also just bought this cd by this new band Hawthorne Heights. Never heard of them until I went to the cd store, but it listed bands on the front that i like saying 'if you like these bands...' bla bla bla. It was cheap so I bought it. It's pretty good.

"Back in school they never taught us what we needed to know,
like how to deal with despair, or someone breaking your heart.
For twelve years I've held it all together but a night like this is begging to pull me apart..."

-Seventy Times 7, Brand New

I totally agree with doomed_renascence! Franz Ferdinand are a great band. I just got their CD, and have been playing it for the past week. Love it!

Also, I am going through the Darkness phase. Although tons of people think they are sooo last year, I think they are brill. I wish they were going to play the Weird Sisters. But I'll settle for Franz Ferdinand. rolleyes.gif

xXhApOcHiCxX
i like alternative rock and heavy metal rock. and i like all kindes of music if the song is good. like i will like hip hop r&b or pop music.[QUOTE] In times of old when I was new
and Hogwarts barely started
The founders of our noble school
Thought never to be parted:
United by acommon goal,
They ahd the self same yearning,
To make the world's best magical school
And pass along their learning.
"Together we will build and teach"!
The four good friends decided
And never ddi they dream that they
Might someday be divided,
For were there such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor?
Unless it was a second pair
of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw?
So how could it ahve gone so wrong?
How could such friendship fail?
Why, I was there and so can tell
The whole sad, sorry tale.
Said Slytherin, "We'll Teach just those
whose ancestry is purest."
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose
Intelligence is surest."
Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those
With brave deeds th theri name,"
Said Hufflepuff, "I'l Teach the lot,
And Treat them just the same."
These diffrences caused little strife
When first they came to light,
For each of the four founders had
A house in which they might
Take only thsoe they wanted, so
For instance, Slytherin
Took only pure-blood wizards
of great cunning, just like him,
And only those of sharprest mind
Were taught by Ravenclaw
While the bravest and the boldest
went to daring Gryffindor.
Good Hufflepuff, she took he rest,
And taught them all she knew,
Thus the houses and theri founders
Retained freinships from true.
So Hogwarts worked in harmony
For several happy years,
But then discord crept among us
Feeding on our faults and fears.
The houses that, like pillars four,
had once held up our school,
Now turned upon each other and,
Divided, sought to rule.
And for a whilke it seemed the school
Must meet an early end,
What with dueling and with fighting
And the clash of friend on freind
And at last there came a morning
when old slytherin departed
and though the fighting tehn died out
he left us quite downhearted.
and never since the founders four
were whittled down to three
have the houded been united
as they once were meant to be.
And now the sorting hat is here
And you all know the score:
I sort you into houses
Because that is what I'm for,
Listen closely to my song:
Though condemned I am to split you
Still I worry that it's wrong,
Though I must fullfill my duty
And must quater every year
still I wonder wheather sorting
May not bring the end I fear.
Oh, know the perils, read the signs.
The warning history shows,
For our Hogwarts is in danger
From external, Deadly froes
And we must unite inside her
or We'll crumble from within
I have told you, I have warned you...
Let the sorting now begin blink.gif

Feeder
lol, I'm with you there Chelly, I'm not really in to punk but more alternative which is why I voted for 'now', but I do like a lot of the older stuff like ac/dc, jimmy page (led), and the clash.

Top Five:
1) Live
2) Hot Hot Heat
3) Led Zeppelin
4) Feeder (hence the name)
5) Dispatch

Oh yeah, and I can't stand Heavy Metal, it's like whoever can play the loudest wins.
pigwidigon
i am going to move this over to the TV Media forum because I think it is better suited there and will generate more response as it is getting burried over here in the polls forums! Thanks
Anglophile92

If you want punkish stuff, go for the Clash (if you haven't already). Their earlier stuff is more like traditional (that word sounds really stupid next to punk for some reason *grins*) punk, but I really like their newer stuff. Nothing wrong with rocking some ska, I say, at least when they do it. They're old school but they're very well loved for a good reason.

I voted 70s rock since it seems to take up the hub of what I like and a majority of the stuff that I like actually originated from the 70s (XTC-if you could count them-, Rush, Boston, Fleetwood Mac-technically I think from the 60s, but since "Rumours" came out in the 70s, I think that's good enough-, Iron Maiden, ect.). I pretty much am down with 80s rock (Def Lepapard is fun for a hair band). I'm slowly, slowly getting into some newer stuff. I've finally decided that Franz Ferdinand is alright. Harvey Danger's new album is wonderful, wonderful stuff. The Foo Fighters are nice too. And of course, They Might Be Giants are wonderful. So, I'm pretty much a progressive (Rush, Yes, Genesis during Peter Gabriel), a bit of psychedelic (Pink Floyd, if you'd class them as such), and mostly just flat-out rock type.
Liz Potter
i like Hard Rock..guns&roses..skid row...

-Three Days Grace.. Reeally good
-Nickelback

Feeder
Well, I've got a few additions to my list above.

RX Bandits- a great ska/rock/reggae/alternative band. They have amazing lyrics usually centering around love or hot topics in society such as politics and pop culture. They have a great horn section along with an incredible drummer, and they play with with a lot of passion. I recommend their The Resignation album for starters.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- I can't believe I forgot them before, they're probably the band I 've liked the longest. I've liked them since 4th grade and they never get old. I don't think I need to explain their music, any rock fan should know them.

Mad Caddies- another good ska/rock band that has a lead singer with a great voice. They too have a good horn section and have a very likeable sound that will hook anybody from the start. I recommend their Just One More album.

Less Than Jake- a pretty well-known ska/punk/rock band whose unique voice with the right song will grab anybodys ear. I recommend their Anthem album and especially their song entitled "The Science of Selling Yourself Short". A true punk song that's the most catchy chorus I've ever heard, you won't be able to resist singin' along.

These are just a few of the bands that I like, but ones that I think the majority of you will like. PM me if your interested in hearing any of these bands, and I'll help you find where you can hear them.
misshaunted390
Has to be the eighties, they were rock Gods (and Goddesses)! In fact most music was fantastic then, even though I'm not quite old enough to remember any of it. I blame my mum, she's an eighties rock chick freak and it's pretty embarassing actually.

Erm, faves at the moment...

Greenday
Feeder (they're brill)
Simple Plan
Aerosmith are really good too

I think my favourites are Guns & Roses though, no competition...they're just amazing!!!
Feeder
You know Feeder misshaunted? I guess you can tell by my name that I like them as well tongue.gif . I'm sorry but I just have to post everytime somebody mentions a band I like, because many of them are kinda unknown, and I'm always happy to see their fandom is alive.

But yeah, Feeder's a great band, some of my favorites by them are:

-Seven Days in the Sun
-High
-Just the Way I'm Feelin'
-Come Back Around
-Just a Day

misshaunted390
OMG I absolutely love High. That has to be one of my favourite songs!!!!! Just the way I'm feelin' is a remarkable song too, but nothing can beat High in my books. Yep, I kind of gathered from your name that you like Feeder. I understand what you mean when you say they aren't that popular though, which is odd because they are brilliant. Hardly any of my mates know about them, and it really gets on my nerves sometimes. wink.gif

Congrats Feeder, you have great taste!!!! biggrin.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif

Oh BTW, interesting siggy. Let's hope no pessimists are reading these posts, or you're going to be pretty unpopular with them... wink.gif
Feeder
Yeah I really like High just because the lead singer's voice (forgot his name) is absolutely perfect in it, he couldn't have dont it any better.

And many of my friends didn't know Feeder until I introduced it to them, and they loved them.

misshaunted390
OMG I totally forgot about Queen and Meatloaf! I love those bands. Their songs are like real travelling songs, have you noticed? Flying down a motorway blasting Bat Outa Hell loud enough for the world to hear is the only way to travel! smile.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif

Enchantress
i listen to everything from 30s like edith piaf(les chansons francaises) to modern rock music, like Franz Ferdinand, The killers, but i also like music of 80s and metal music....
wishmaster
I like some rock bands like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. My favorite though is metal of any kind, mainly symphony, goth, black, and death. My favorite bands include:

Evanescence: I know they're not metal but I still think they're great. Amy Lee has an incredible voice, and writes thoughtful and beautiful songs.

Nightwish: Brilliant combination of symphony and metal. Tarja is a trained opera singer and has an extraordinary voice. Unfortunately she got kicked out in October and has not yet been replaced.

Lacuna Coil: Beautiful lyrics. Cristina Scabbia has a wonderful voice. This is a great band from Italy. They are definitely different from other bands out there. Cant wait for Karmacode, due out in April!!!

Arch Enemy: Pure metal. The lead singer is currently Angela Gossow. I've never listened to them with her as singer. I've only listened to the all male Arch Enemy, which is great for serious headbanging.

Marilyn Manson: One word: Brilliant. His songs are NOT irresponsible anthems of hate. They are creative and disturbing on many levels. Many people see him as the anti-christ or whatever, that is a load of bull.
Princess_Hermione
My favourite rock musicians are:

AC/DC (Currently on the top of my list)
Missing Persons
Throwing Muses
Sting & The Police
The Cars
U2
REM
Talking Heads
The Pixies
Nirvana (some songs, not a big fan)
Hole
The Motels
Stereolab
Led Zeppelin (love Dancing Days!)
Bob Seger (Her Strut and Old Time Rock and Roll are only my favourites from him)
Bettie Serveert
Garbage
Avril Lavigne (rock or pop?)
The Go-Go's
Sheryl Crow
Alanis Morrisette
Michelle Branch
Flin Flon (Floods rocks!)
Solex (considered techno, but sounds more like rock)
Liz Phair
The Cure (love Friday I'm in Love)
Pat Benetar
Van Halen (some songs from them)
Stereo Total
Lush
The Weird Sisters (they rocked on GoF!!)
Pink Floyd (The Wall is totally wicked!)
Blondie
No Doubt (I love Gwen!)
Edie Brickell (What I Am makes me smile)
Quarterflash
Loverboy
.38 Special
Pearl Jam
Rush
The Outfield
The Pretenders
The Raveonettes
Collective Soul
Deep Purple
The Beatles
Rolling Stones

And that's all the rock I LOVE!!!
ashleigh07

Princess_Hermione, you've been here long enough, you should know better, mate wink.gif Please don't post just lists like that as they add nothing to the discussion thus defeating the purpose of a forum rolleyes.gif Do elaborate!!

wishmaster, please review the rules (link in my siggie) in particular the part in regards to signatures. You are only allowed a maximum of FIVE lines of text in your siggie. I'll give you a chance to edit it this time but please note that in future, siggie violations will incur a raised warning level.

Do contact any of us mods should either of youse have any further questions.

Okay let you guys get back to it then wink.gif

Evanescence: I know they're not metal but I still think they're great. Amy Lee has an incredible voice, and writes thoughtful and beautiful songs.

This is the one, even vaguely rockish, band i like. The music is kinda rock, but Amy - Lee's singing isn't, wow she has an amazing voice, i am flat out jealous!!
I prefer the old soulful music, Louis Armstrong, Al Green, Lionel Richie etc. I'm such a romantic !!!
.X.
Silence Dogood
Rock N' Roll, you can't beat it. I mostly listen to 80's rock, the best there is if you ask me; but I do like most all of it. I'll make this short and sweet.

-AC/DC

-The Beatles

-Aerosmith

-The Rolling Stones

-Lynyrd Skynyrd

-Led Zepplin

I will post more later, when I can think of them.
Sond
80's hard/glam rock rulez !!!
I'm into all kinds of "rock": from plain rock to death metal biggrin.gif

Favourite bands (I'll stay with rock only and don't put in any metalbands)

MOTORHEAD
Guns & Roses
Led Zep
Pink Floyd
Aerosmith
Thin Lizzy
AC/DC
Kiss
Motley Crue
LA Guns

and a couple of heavy metal bands who are close to hard rock

Iron Maiden
Saxon
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath (with Dio)
Dio
Twisted Sister

But I could probably go on for hours so I'm gonna shut up now biggrin.gif
Accidentprone25
My favorite rock/metal bads are; Evanescence, AC/DC, The beatles.

Right mow BAck in Black by AC/DC is my favorite rock song.
hp is my obsession
This was a hard decision between 90's & 80's. When I think 90's I think more of the rock pop music like the Goo Goo Dolls. I love the Goo Goo Dolls. But then I can always listen to U2, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith but I said 90's because the Goo Goo Dolls always make me feel better when I'm down biggrin.gif
Padfoot, Prongs and Moony
I love hard rock... actually I like all rock but the slower rock songs get annoying to me, I like upbeat and fast songs... These are my top 3 songs

Forever by Papa Roach
Say this Sooner by The Almost
Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance

Wow, that was hard to pick only 3... yeah I love older music too, but it is a little... I dunno the word for it right now... but I love hard rock and heavy metal, I think because my mom hates it is why I love it so much... *shrug* biggrin.gif
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
My favorite rock bands are:

1 The Who
2 Queen
3 Eagles
4 Led Zepplin
5 U2
6 Bob Seager and the Silver Bullet Band
7 Beatles
8 Elton John
9 Boston
10 Simon and Garfunkel

My 10 ten favorite songs are:

1 Bohemian Rhapsody
2 Beautiful Loser
3 With or Without You
4 Under Pressure
5 Baba O' Reilly
6 Imagine
7 Sounds of Silence
8 Daniel
9 Stairway to Heaven
10 Free Bird
11 Cats in the Craddle
12 Rock and Roll Band
13 Behind Blue Eyes
14 Brown Eyed Girl
15 Fire and Rain

I guess top 15...
HPFan792
I like all kinds of Rock but, if I had to chose I guess I would pick 80s and 90srock and roll. I like Nirvana,Green Day and The Eagles. U2 is also a really good band.
workaholic_1231
My vote went to "All Kinds" because I love several different options too much to choose just one. 80's, 90's, and now are my abosolute favorites. I could go from Korn to Queen in 10 minutes. It all depends on my mood though. I may not like one band when I'm in a bad mood, but later on I'll be addicted. I'm very sporatic like that. wink.gif
