I’m very sad to admit that it was not me who came up with the Harry Potter-universe. JKR have given me inspiration to the story which I have written. I do not own any of the characters! Most of them are JKR’s.

I just want to say that it's my first fanfic.
This story I’m working on starts in James and all the other’s first year. I think it’s necessary because I’ll explain to you why Lily hates James so much.
In the beginning it will be most about the marauders time at Hogwarts, but it’ll end as a James and Lily fic.
I don’t know about that Rating System (PG-13). I think there will be some late in the story, but I’m not sure. If something comes up, I’ll put it in the beginning of the chapter.
Here we go.

1
”Bye mum. Bye dad. See you at Christmas” The boy called, hanging out of the open window.
“Bye Honey” The parents called back, waving and smiling.
The boy closed the window and began looking for a place to sit. The wind outside had messed his hair very much, but it didn’t seam to bother him. He pushed his glasses a little up at his nose because they were on the way to fall off. Everywhere he looked was filled up, until he made the last compartment. A boy at his own age with black hair sat all alone. He opened the door, and the boy looked up.
“Is that seat taken? Everywhere else is filled up”
“No, please sit”. The boy said, putting out his hand. “I’m Sirius Black, first year”
“James Potter, first year too” he said, taking it. “Where’re you from? I don’t think a have ever seen you before?”
“London,” Sirius answered “big city, but a little bit boring if you ask me. Way too many muggles, and no witches or wizards, if you’re not in Diagon Alley. There’s no one to talk to but the stupid little brother of mine. What about you?”
“That’s probably why I have never seen you before. I’m from…”
But Sirius didn’t get the chance to hear where James was from, because in that moment the door to the compartment opened. A boy with light brown hair and a look of tiredness in his face stood in the doorway.
“Hey” he said and smiled a little nervously “Do you mind if I sit in here? Everyone else is to noisy and irritating”
“It’s okay” James said “I’m James Potter, and this is Sirius Black” He pointed at Sirius, who waved and smiled.
“Right.” The boy said “I’m Remus Lupin”

Several hours had past when a yell of help reached the three boys compartment. James opened the door and looked out for the cry. A little further down the passage, two boys and a girl had surrounded a fourth boy with brown mousy hair, who was the one that had yelled.
“HEY! Leave him alone!” James called “What’s he done to you?”
A boy with greasy black hair looked up.
“Mind your own business!” He shouted at James.
“What’s going on” Sirius asked. He had just stepped out beside James.
“They are bullying that boy” James said and pointed.
The three boys had now all their attention at James, Sirius and last Remus who had just stepped out of their compartment too. The third boy had crawled away and was now crying silently.
“Go away will you!” This time it wasn’t the black haired talking, but the girl. She sent an angry look at Sirius, James didn’t know why.
“Now, if you don’t mind, we’ll get back to business.” the black haired boy said, and they turned to the little boy again.
Both James and Sirius drew their wands, and the three turned.
“Get away from him” James said in almost a whisper.
“NOW!” Sirius roared when they didn’t do anything.
They both knew that they couldn’t do much magic, but it was worth a try. The two boys and one girl looked at them, and then turned to leave. When they had stepped into their own compartment, James, Sirius and Remus ran over to the boy.
“Are you okay?” Remus asked, offering a helping hand.
“Yeah. I’m okay” He said taking the hand.
“I’m Remus, and this is James and Sirius. Why don’t you come and sit in our compartment?”
“Okay that’ll be nice. I’m by the way Peter Pettigrew” The boy said a little nervously.
The four boys smiled at each other and went inside the compartment.
Not long after they had entered the compartment, the train begun to slow down.
“I think we’re there” Sirius said.
The four boys took their luggage and went outside. First they just stood at the platform, looking around at the other students.
“First years over here” A voice called, and they moved towards it.
A lot of small kids were there. The two boys and one girl who had tease peter too. Soon they started walking and ended up by a lake. They all was told to sit down in some small bots and they begun sailing over the lake. They went inside the great castle Hogwarts, and were placed in a little room. Here a tall witch called Professor McGonagall told them some things about Hogwarts. James knew the most, his father had told him. After a while they were brought into the biggest hall James had ever seen.

So what do you think of the first chapter?

I'm posting the second chapter now just for you to get started on, But in the future I'll post about 3 a week. (I hope).
And I'm about to get a beta I think smile.gif

2
There were four long tables, filled with students and at a smaller table all the professors sat. James and the rest of the first years were lined up in front of the whole hall. Then a hat was brought in on a stool. It was placed in the middle of the first years and the rest of the students.
Every person in the great hall looked at the hat, silent. Then suddenly the hat opened and began to sing.

“I’m here today, in front of you
Like I was thousand years ago
I’m old, yes, very old
But you will never find one hat
With half the mind and sight as I

You may have your thoughts
I’m just an old hat who can sing
But I’m more than that
I am the amazing sorting-hat

To Hogwarts you came today
Without knowing where to sleep
But there’re four places you can come
But don’t know where you belong

In Ravenclaw you will be placed
But only if you seek
A seek for wisdom and knowledge
And a mistake you can acknowledge

In Hufflepuff you do belong
If help to others you can do
Be the friend to everyone
Then your job in this house is done

Then there’s the brave Gryffindor
To the one with the hart of a lion
In this house you do belong
When needed you will be strong

And last but not least, there’s Slytherin
The place you can come to
If you’re aiming high, not low
And you’re not the one to bow

So know you know everything
I let nothing out at all
Then put me one and I decide
I’m the most fantastic sorting-guide”

Everyone in the Great Hall was clapping.
So, James thought, all we have to do is put the hat it will decide which house we will be in. This was the one thing he had not been told before. He looked at Sirius, he smiled. Then McGonagall spoke.
“I will read your names up, last name first, and you will step up and put the hat on your heads, and you will be placed. Anthon, Patrice.”
A small girl stepped out of the line and walked nervously up to the stool, with the hat on, and placed on her head. There was silent in the Great Hall for about ten seconds than the hat opened
“Hufflepuff” the table at the left side of the middle in the hall started to clapped, and Persia walked down to join them.
“Black, Bellatrix”
The black haired girl from the train stepped out of the line.
“Black?” James whispered slowly and turned to Sirius. “Is she your -”
“Cousin! Yes, so what?” said Sirius quickly “I’m not even friends with her”
She had only had the hat on for about two seconds when the hat shouted
“Slytherin”
“No surprise there” Sirius said as Bellatrix Black walked down to the clapping Slytherin table. “She’s evil like the devil!”
“Black, Sirius”
Sirius had the hat on for the longest time until this sorting. Finely the hat opened.
“Gryffindor”
There was silent for a moment, and then the clapping slowly began from the table at the wall to the left. Some of the Slytherins was whispering and looked at Sirius as he walked to the Gryffindors. James turned around and saw that even the teachers were talking. James didn’t understand the reaction of Sirius being placed in Gryffindor.
“Evans, Lily”
James looked up and was stunned. The most beautiful girl he had ever seen stepped out of the line and walked right past him, towards the sorting hat. She had shining emerald green eyes and long auburn hair down her back. She had the most amazing (nervous) smile and her face was like an angel’s. James signed.
Lily was shortly after placed in Gryffindor.
More and more people were called to the hat, and more and more people filled the tables. Remus was too placed in Gryffindor. Peter had the hat for almost a minute before he went down to the Gryffindor table and sat beside Remus.
Then it was Pittman, Helen (Hufflepuff) after her it was…
“Potter, James”
James walked slowly towards the hat, hopping he looked confident.
He saw every head turned to his before it went all dark.
“Hmm,” a voice from the hat said “A bright mind I see, yes. A little stubborn too. And.. ohh, not letting trifles get in the way to proof yourself. Yeah, I know. It better be Gryffindor”
The last word was shouted in the whole Great Hall.
There was clapping and James hurried down and sat beside Sirius. Some of the older students came to shake his hands. There was silent in the Great Hall again. Two more sortings went by before James remembered something.
“What was the buzz about when you were sorted?” James asked Sirius as the boy with the greasy black hair from the train, called Severus Snape, was placed in Slytherin. Sirius turned to James.
“It’s just the fact that my family have been in Slytherin House for so many generations, that I don’t even can count them” Sirius answered “I guess it’s a quite of a shock to see a Black in Gryffindor”
“Oh, right. But it is a little weird, isn’t it? I mean, if your whole family was in Slytherin and you in Gryffindor?”
“No I don’t think so. I’m not like a single one I my family at all. They’re all pure-blood maniacs! Do I look like on of those?”
“No not at all!” James assured him. Sirius smiled.
“And now” James lowered his voice as he started talking again “can you tell me who this Lily Evans is?”
Sirius looked over where James looked.
“I don’t know any wizards with the last name Evans”
“She must be a muggle then, I will find out.”
The rest of the students had been sorted and silence had fallen over the pupils. The headmaster, Dumbledore stood up.
“And now, that we all have seats to sit at. Let’s eat” he said with a loud clear voice. And right in front of them, food appeared at the plates on the tables.
“So” Sirius turned to the girl next to him and smiled “Who are you?”
“Tess Goldsmith” The girl answered and shook his hand. “I’m half and half. Muggle-mother and wizard-father.”
James looked at Lily again. She was talking to Remus, but suddenly she looked past him and at James instead. He tried to smile confident, it must have worked because she smiled back at him and continued her conversation with Remus after short time.

Hey everyone.
I would have posted another chapter yesterday, but I didn’t get it beta’ed (it still isn’t). So I just post it here today, so bear with me if you find big mistakes in the language.
Anyways… Here’s the new chapter. Lily is not in it, but the chapter is important to the two next chapters. Hope you like it.

3
The next morning James woke up in his four-poster bed in the boys’ dormitory. He could hear Sirius, Remus and Peter were awake already.
It took long time to find the way down to the Great Hall. As they sat and ate breakfast, Mcgonagall was going down the table and handling the timetables over.
“Oh, look.” Remus said when he saw the first day, Tuesday. “History of Magic, Charms and Potions today.”
“Great” James said and smiled.
“Shall we get going to History of Magic then?” Peter asked “I don’t want to be late”
“Come down, Peter. There’s more than ten minutes to the class starts” Sirius said. It was clearly that he just wanted to be there because he wanted more to eat.
“Peter, the two of us can go” Remus said and got up and started to walk. Peter followed.
Five minutes after Peter and Remus had left; James and Sirius went to History of Magic too.
History of Magic was boring from the very beginning. The teacher was a ghost called Professor Binns. Halfway through the class Sirius fell asleep.
Charms were too started with an introduction by the teacher, Professor Flitwick. After the introduction they practised moves for spells.
The Potions-class was composed of the first year Gryffindors and Slytherins. James looked around, the three who had teased Peter yesterday at the train, was all in Slytherin. It was Bellatrix Black, the Snape-boy and a boy which name James was told was Evan Rosier. A fourth boy sat at with them at a table. When they saw James and Sirius enter the class they got their heads together and started to whisper.
James and Sirius sat at a table with Peter and Remus.
“Is there anyone of you who know who the professor is?” Peter asked the others.
“Yes,” Sirius said prompt “my father knows him. His name is Horage Slughorn and knows loads of famous people.”
In the end of the lesson they were making a very simple potion. James was on his way up to Slughorn’s table with some of the potion in a little bottle when a boy bumped into him very hard and he was knocked of his legs. The bottle broke and the potion was all over James. He looked up and it was the boy Snape.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” James asked furious.
“You stood in my way, don’t do that.” He just said and looked at him, then turned away and went down to his table. They grinned at him at the table.
James got on his legs and went down to his table.
“You don’t believe what that Snape-boy just did!” he raged.
“Yes, we saw it” Sirius said darkly and sent them a disgusting look.
“Uh! The first thing I’ll do after this class is to go and find a curse to put on him”
“Let me help you, and then I can find one to my cousin”
“Guys! I don’t think that will be such a good idea. You could be in trouble!” Remus warned.
“No we won’t.” James said “Not if we do it when no one is around” He added in a whisper.
“We will go straight to the library after this class okay?”
“Okay!”

And so they did. James was quick to find a few good books. They found two hexes they thought they would be able to perform. After a couple of days, James and Sirius was the first that were able to do them proper. Remus could also, but there went more days before Peter was able.

“James, what you’ve got in question 5a?” Lily asked and leaned over the table to look. She, James Sirius, Wendy and Tess were doing homework in the Gryffindor common room.
“Hey, Lily! I thought you were able to do your own homework” James said and hid his answers and smiled mischievous at her.
“Oh, just let me check if you got the same as me” She said and laughed at him.
“Right. The same as I would have said if a wanted others answers.” He said and handled his answers over the table, still smiling. She stuck her tongue out at him and bent down to check the papers. James kept looking at her while she checked the answers. Suddenly she looked up at James
“What?” She asked grinning as she saw his look.
“Nothing” James answered quick “Just checking you didn’t just copy what I have written”
“That would I never do. Trust me”
“I do” James said and looked at Lily. She returned the gaze.
“I’m bored!” Sirius complained loud across the table, and broke the silence.
“I know what might cheer you up” Remus had just come in through the portraithole with Peter.
“What Remus?”
“A third year has told me that some seventh years had let about a dozen of fire salamanders loose. Wouldn’t it be great to have one like that to study and stuff like that?”
“Yeah, or to set things on fire.” Sirius said and laughed.
“Lets go and get one then. Before they all had gone.” James jumped up and smiled.
Sirius was up to.
“Sorry ladies, we have to go” he said to Lily, Tess and Wendy, then went towards the portraithole followed by James, Remus and Peter.
The four boys ran down the corridor.
“Do you know where they were let out?” James asked Remus.
“Somewhere under the Great Hall I think.”
The boys went down a flight of stone steps into a broad stone corridor. They waked down the corridor, when suddenly James stopped.
“What?” Sirius asked.
“Look at this painting” James said and pointed at a painting of lots of fruits.
“Yes, what is about it?”
“I – I just think I saw the pear moved”
“James, pictures and painting has always moved. Why should this not?” Remus asked him.
“I don’t know!” James slowly neared the picture and reached out for the peach with his arm.
“James! The salamanders!” Sirius reminded him.
“Oh! That’s right”
The four boys continued their search for the salamanders.
“There’s one” Peter suddenly squealed and pointed.
The others looked.

Lily, Tess and Wendy sat back in the common room and was almost done with their homework, when James, Sirius, Remus and Peter came bursting through the potraithole.
“All right!” James triumphed.
They all laughed.
“Let’s put it in the fire.” Remus said and threw the salamander into the fire. The boys went over and sat next to Tess, Wendy and Lily.
“What do you think we should do with it?” Peter asked.
“Definitely set something on fire!” Sirius said while he was taking the hand up to his chin in a thinking way.
“Uh! I’ve got an idea” James exclaimed. He jumped up from the chair and ran up to the boys’ dormitory. Seconds later he came down with his hand tied around something.
“What’ve you got?” Lily asked and looked at his hand
“This!” he said and opened his hand. In it were four red balls.
“What can they do?” Peter asked
“If you put them on fire they will explode and sent out smoke for at least eight hours.”
“Ha ha. Great.” Sirius laughed. “Let’s see how they will react with this salamander.” He took one of the balls in put it up to the salamander.
“No, Sirius. Not like that. It will not be so much fun.” James said and took the ball back. Instead he fed the salamander with it. Nothing happened for about three seconds. Then suddenly there was a big bang inside the salamander and it went ten times the normal size around the middle and back again in less then a second. Then it opened its mouth and smoke came out. Some of the older students laughed of the salamander. But soon nothing could be seen because the smoke had developed into a thick fog. The fog was red and bad smelling, and soon it filled the whole Gryffindor common room.
All the students ran out the portraithole or to their dormitories.
The four boys ran to their own room. The each threw themselves on their beds, laughing very hard.

I hope you liked it. I know nothing happened in the chapter, but there defiantly will in the next (without revealing too much). And myself found it necessary to write this one.

So, here’s next chapter. biggrin.gif It's a little long (I think), but can't be shorter.

5
The next morning when the boys came down in the common room, the salamander lay in the fireplace. It still spitted red smoke out now and then. There were a little bit smoky in the room.
When James, Sirius, Remus and Peter entered the Great Hall it was very clear that the whole school had heard about the salamander episode. Every head turned as they walked past the other tables. The boys just grinned at each other.
Later that day James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were on the way to the library.
“What’s going on between you and Lily Evans?” Sirius asked suddenly
“What do you mean?” James answered. He tried to sound like there was nothing there. But it didn’t go well, because without he himself had noticed it, he had stopped, almost in front of the girls’ bathroom.
“What do I mean? You know it’s so obvious. You like her. And she likes you.” Sirius said like if it was the most normal thing in the world.
“I don’t like Lily Evans! She’s… She’s so… Not my type, that’s it! And she’s not very pretty either. And beside that, I’m way too young to have a girlfriend and everything. There’s nothing.” James had become a little frustrated, and was talking very loud. Yet he knew that Sirius was on the right track.
“Right. But it does look like there is something” Now it was Remus talking.
“Exactly! He knows what I’m talking about.” Sirius triumphed and pointed at Remus
“Perhaps. But there’s not! And then we do not talk more about that. Okay?” James sounded angry now.
“Yeah, right.” Both Sirius and Remus said at the same time.
“Now can we keep walking?” Peter came with a low voice.
The boys walked on. But what they did not know, was that behind the door to the girls’ bathroom, stood a girl who had heard everything. It was the one girl in the world that should not have heard that conversation.
Lily Evans collapsed with her back to the door. She could not believe what she had just heard. James Potter, the boy she had had so much fun with since the beginning of the school year actually was an idiot who hated her. Lily was not the girl who cried because of a boy, but one tear was falling from her one eye. She quickly brushed it away, and dried the other eye, just in case.
She could not remember how long she sat there, but at last she returned to the Gryffindor tower. Tess and Wendy were waiting for her.
“Where have you been?” Tess asked as the first thing, when Lily came over to them.
“Here and there.” Lily just answered looking very depressed, but tried to smile.
“No. I can see something is wrong. Tell us.” Wendy came closer “Should we go to the Girls’ dormitory?”
“Yes”
Lily told Tess and Wendy everything in less than a minute.
“He really said that? But why are you so upset with that?” Wendy asked. When Lily didn’t say anything, Tess figured it out.
“Ohh!” She said. Her eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head. “You like him! Yes you do.”
“I have never said that” Lily said, but she smiled.
“I can see it at your face”
“And even if I did like him, I do not anymore. Not after a treat like that.”
“Lily, you just don’t think he was pretending not to.” Wendy said slowly “After all, he was with three other boys. I would not have admitted if I liked a boy in front of three girls.”
“No I don’t think that it was because of Sirius, Remus and Peter”

The day after the boys ride to the library they, they were down in the Great Hall playing wizards chess and just chatting they got their chance to do the pay back at Snape.
“Bishop to D3” Remus said and his bishop smashed Peter’s pawn.
“Look what I got sent from home” James said and threw something over the table to Sirius.
“Wow. What’s that?”
“Something that will make a lot of chaos at the corridor” James just said and smiled mischievous as Sirius threw the thing back
“You better not use that” Remus said and James looked at him “You could be in trouble for that.”
“Yeah ri – ouch” James looked at Sirius who just had poked him hard in the ribs.
“Look” Sirius said simply and pointed, while James rubbed his ribs.
It was Snape coming into the Great Hall with a big stack of books.
“Revenge” was the only word escaping James lips. He dropped what he had sent from home as he got up and started a quick walk towards Snape with Sirius close behind him.
“What - Oh!” Peter said and his eyes widened.
James placed himself in the way of Snape with him arms crossed and wand in the one hand.
“So you think its funny to bump into others so they get potion all over, and just think you can get away with it!” James said only loud enough so he, Sirius and Snape could hear it. Snape just looked at them, then dropped his books and pulled his wand out, ready to course James. But James was much quicker.
“Locomotor Mortis!” James shouted and Snape tumbled over.
James could hear someone shout at him in the background but he wasn’t really aware of it.
Snape swore and raised his wand ready to curse James.
“Rictusempra!” James cried.
Snape was rolling on the floor and laughing so hard he hardly could breathe. Sirius was almost in the same state, with tears in the corners of his eyes.
The most of the students in the Gret Hall was looking at James, Sirius or Snape.
“Stop that!” A voice came from James’ behind and this time he heard and turned around. It was Lily. And was she defending a Slytherin?
“Why?” James asked.
“Because. What’s he done to you?” She shouted at him then she turned to Snape and raised her wand “Finite Incantatem” And Snape relaxed in his whole buddy.
“Why did you do that?” James yelled “He deserved it”
“No he didn’t” Lily turned to Snape “Are you okay?” She asked and offered a helping hand.
“I don’t need your help” he just said and got up without her help then sent Lily a dirty look. He picked up his books and left the Great Hall without another word. But James heard him snivel on his way out.
“Come down. Don’t be such a Snivellus.” He called with a very loud voice.
“Shut up” Lily said with her back to James.
“Why did you do that Lily?” James asked her, still with a raised voice. Lily turned around so quickly that her hair flung over her one shoulder, she looked once more at James.
“Why did YOU do that? I would never have thought you would do that. You are disgusting. Don’t you even dare ever talk to me again, Potter! NEVER!” Then she stormed out of the silent Great Hall. Several seconds passed.
James had not removed his eyes from the spot where Lily had disappeared. He was a little surprised that she would defend a Slytherin, yet he couldn’t stop himself from liking her even more.

Hope you like it.

Hey everyone biggrin.gif
This is the last chapter from their first year. The chapter is with because I just want to emphasize that lily definitely is mad at James. Here we go smile.gif

6
2 weeks had passed and Lily had still not talked to James, only sent him disgusting looks.
“I mean, why could she possible be so mad about that she’ll not talk to me?” James asked as he, Sirius and Peter sat in the Gryffindor common room in front of the fire.
“I don’t know” Sirius replied. “Maybe she did not like what you did to Snivellus.”
Peter giggled at Sirius’ new name for Snape.
“Yeah. Probably that, but still!” James said frustrated and leaned back and looked around “And WHERE’S Remus?” he added.
“Oh yeah, that’s right. His mother is ill, and he had to go home to be with her.”
“Glad he could tell us!” James exclaimed.
“He was in a bit of a hurry. He almost ran.”
“Yes, yes, but I would have guessed that he would have been able to say goodbye to us.”
The portraithole swung open, and Lily and Tess entered. James hand flew up to his hair to messy it a bit more than it was, and looked in Lily’s direction. But she looked the other way, Tess waved. They headed for the girls dormitory.
James jumped up.
“Hey, Lily” He called, but she did not turn around.
James ran over and stood in front of them.
“Lily, what’s wrong?” he asked with concern and put his one hand on her shoulder.
“One” Lily said and removed James’s hand violently “YOU are what’s wrong. Two, DON’T call me Lily again. And three, get OUT of my way Potter!” He voice had raised more for each world he said.
James was stunned and was just looking at her while she was walking past him. Slowly he came back to reality and walked over to Sirius and Peter who had seen the whole thing.
“Wow, what did she mean by that?” He asked Sirius and Peter, still in a little state of shock.
“I think she meant that you are the problem, that you may not call her Lily again and you should get out off her way.” Sirius said quickly.
“Yeah! I figured that out myself!”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“Then why did you ask? Don’t ask questions you already know the answer for.” Sirius said and threw some paper into the fire.
Peter giggled and looked admiring at Sirius. James smacked his hand against his forehead.

It’s short, but the next will certainly be longer. Nevertheless I hope you liked it.
Let’s just say that James and all the other finished the year and Lily and James did not become friends. Next chapter starts when they start the seventh year smile.gif

Hey everyone smile.gif
Since the last chapter was soooo short, this one is much longer.
And here starts the new year (7) biggrin.gif it was really fun to write this chapter, hope you think it’s good.
Here we go.

7
It was 6 years ago James, Sirius, Remus and Peter had started their first year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. James was once again saying goodbye to his parents, this time Sirius was by his side.
Sirius had in the beginning of the summer had a very big row with his parents and one day the doorbell had run and the Potters house. Sirius lived there for the rest of the summer.
Sirius was, together with James, one of the most attractive boys at Hogwarts. And it was quite understandable. Sirius had Black hair like James, but Sirius’s wasn’t messy, it was more sleek and fell into his eyes. He had grey eyes that always laughed just as much as his smile.
James and Sirius left the Potters and went on the train. In a compartment sat a boy already. He was low and had small eyes and a peaked nose.
“Hey Wormtail” Sirius and James said and smiled.
“Where’s Moony?” James asked.
“It’s full moon. So he’s home”
Not long after the train began moving. The boys went chatting about the summer. Suddenly James jumped up.
“Oh,” he exclaimed. “I have to go. Head Boy duties…” He got up and walked quickly out the compartment.

Lily dragged her trunk trough the Hogwarts express. She looked inside every compartment, but none of them contained the persons she was looking for.
“Lily, Lily!” A voice called from her behind.
Lily turned around and saw Wendy running towards her.
“Hi Wendy.” Lily said and hugged her friend.
Lily took a step back and looked at Wendy. “Oh my, you look beautiful.”
Wendy giggled, but it was true. Wendy had blond hair with the most beautiful curls you could wish for, and the most charming sky-blue eyes you could ever find. If she wanted to, she could make everyone do exactly what she wanted them to do, Lily was sure of. But Wendy was not like that, she was more reserved and quite.
“Oh, there’s Tess!” Wendy said and pointed.
Tess came walking in front of Lily and Wendy. Even on this distance you could see how beautiful she was. Tess had long, straight, brown hair and dark brown eyes that could make every boy at Hogwarts drop around at the spot. But unfortunately Tess had a boyfriend which she was very happy about. They had the same personality, both flirty and heartbreakers. Perfect match!
Together the three girls walked down the train to find themselves a compartment.
You couldn’t find three girls that were so different at the whole Hogwarts, not just by the look, also personalities. Wendy; the quite girl everyone could come too to get advice, both about boy problems and personal problems. She was very charming too. Tess: the wild girl, who had been with most of the boys at Hogwarts, and was good to talk to about boys and she knew the latest gossip. She was always happy and loved by the most boys. At last there was Lily. She was good at every thing she did and was the friend to everyone. Actually most people thought she was the sweetest and most loved girl who had ever attended to Hogwarts.
Together the three girls found themselves a compartment and sat down.
“I’m sorry. I have to go to the prefects’ in the other end of the train.” Lily said after had sat in the compartment for less than a minute. “See you.”
The other girls waved at her.

James finely reached the last compartment. He had to be there to give out instructions with the Head Girl, which he still didn’t, knew who was.
He opened the door and a girl with straight shiny auburn hair stood with her back at him. James knew instantly who the girl was. He had liked her since their first year at Hogwarts, but for some reason she’d one day started to hate him, and he had still not found out why.
“And I guess it’s the Head Boy, who’s actually a little late, who’s here” Lily Evans said and turned around her jaw dropped at the sight of James. He had grown a lot this summer, so now he was a whole head taller than her, and his hair weren’t messy in the same way as it used to be. There was more style about than it now. His glasses sat a little askew over his nose, he had been running. Lily could se his eyes behind them, a player’s eyes, she though. Always smiling and flirty.
“Hi Evans.” James said and smiled “Had a nice summer?”
James was impressed. Lily looked more stunning than he remembered. Her long her fell down her shoulders and back beautifully, and her eyes shinned like emeralds. Lily was not very high, but James thought it was cute. And in his eyes she was perfect. Like an angel.
“Sorry, Potter. I think you’re at the wrong compartment. This is for the prefects and the Head Boy and Girl.” She said not taking her eyes of him but ignoring the question.
“See this badge?” James asked her and pointed at his Head Boy badge on his chest. “This means that I’m Head Boy, and you are my Head Girl”
Lily had turned her gaze at a paper in her hand “Yes; I am Hear Girl. But No; I am not yours, Potter. Nor will I ever be.” Lily gave him a cold smile and gave him some papers.
All the prefects just looked at the argument the two had.
James lowered his voice to a whisper so only Lily could hear it. “Face it, Evans, You want it. I can see it in your eyes.” He winked at her and smiled one of his very charming smiles.
“So you do actually live in the sky in you own universe!” Lily said sarcastic. She didn’t think it was the good time to start a row between them in front of the prefects, so she continued. “Let’s get to the point now, shall we?”

When the meeting was finished Lily walked back to her compartment.
“Evans?” A voice called behind her.
“What Potter?” She asked.
“I was just wondering. Now that Dumbledore had made me Head Boy, which is a sign for that I am more than you give credit for, if you want to go out with me?”
“You just never get it do you, Potter? NO.”
“Evans,” He began. “You can’t deny it. You want to go out with me as mush as I want to go out with you. You like me just as much as I like you.”
“You’re so full of s–”
“Hey,” James cut her and pointed at her “Evans, that’s not nice.”
“Do want to see something nice? Watch this!” And with those words (and a little less nice sign with her right hand) she walked away.
James stood back and looked after her.
“Wow.” He signed. She became more beautiful for each year.

Hi! smile.gif
Here next chapter.

After the sorting ceremony James and Lily were located in the head dorm. From the entrance you stepped inside a room which looked a lot like a living room. The room was kept in red colours and there were two sets of couches. At one of them were a fireplace and at the other a table and an extra armchair. Along the wall were bookshelves, and in the left corner a large work desk and a window. In the right corner was a door into the bathroom. In the two opposite’s ends of the room were two doors, to the left the name L. Evans was, and on the door the right J. Potter.
“Wow! It’s amazing!” Lily signed.
“Yeah!” James agreed.
They both turned to their own rooms. James was again impressed. It was one big circular room with his bed in the middle, closets on the right hand and two chairs with a little table on the left. He turned again and left his bedroom.
The bathroom was larger than any bathroom James had ever seen. It was white and there were two sinks at every side of the door, and beside the sinks there were two more doors, which must lead to the showers, James thought. In the end of the room was a small pool.
Just as James turned around, Lily walked in.
“It’s great!” James said and smiled.
“Yeah, it can be if you just learn to behave.” Lily said.
So, James thought, she’s still mad at me about the thing I said at the train.
“Evans, can I ask you something?” He asked.
“Yeah, what?”
“Now that we’re going to live together and stuff. I have grown and I have thought… this relationship we have is not quite… well functioned. So I need to ask you something.” He needed to get this thing out, a thing which had had an ill will at him for almost 6 years now.
“Yes?”
James took a deep breath “Why do you hate me so much?”
She didn’t answer but looked around in the bathroom.
“Evans?”
“What?” She asked and turned her gaze at him.
“I asked you something.”
She looked down.
“Don’t you want to answer me?” He half grinned.
Then suddenly she looked at him. Her look was hard and targeted.
“You want to know?” She asked
“Yes” He answered.
“You really want to know?” She asked again
“Yes!”
“All right” She turned her gaze down again “... I heard.”
“What?” James asked confused
“I heard. You, Sirius, Remus and Peter”
“What had we said that made you so mad at me?” James was confused.
“What YOU said. You don’t know this but it was in our first year and you guys were walking down a corridor and Sirius asked if you liked me and you –” Then James realised what she was talking about.
“But Lily, that was –”
“Stop! It’s Evans. And don’t interrupt if you want to hear this!” her tone was hard and spoken without mercy, it seamed like she needed to get this thing of her chest. “You stopped right outside the girls’ bathroom and I heard everything you said. Including the part which was about, how ugly I was and not your type etc.”
“But… you hated me. So why would you be mad about things I said but didn’t mean.”
“I didn’t hate you back then.” Her tone had gone soft again
“So all those years, you has really not been mad at me but more… hurt?”
“Yes.”
“Listen, you need to understand this. I was with three other boys. What do you think they would have thought if I said that I liked you and so on? We were eleven.” James explained.
“But it was the way you were talking about me at. Like I was disgusting and that you hated me.” She told and after a break she took a deep breath “It really hurt me James.”
James noticed her use of his first name, and suddenly felt very guilty.
“I’m so sorry." He said truly "You have to know that I would never have hurt you on purpose.”
Lily looked into James’ eyes and knew he was telling the truth.
“So can we try to be friends?” He asked and offered her his hand.
“Yeah. But it will probably be a little hard after hating you for five years.” She said and tried to smile, then shook slightly his hand. They looked at each other for a long time, trying to figure out what the other one thought, not letting go of each others hands.
“Thank you for telling me this.” He said at last.
“It has just been waiting to get out.”
“Oh, and sorry about what I said at the train.”
“Apologize accepted.” She turned around and went out of the bathroom “Goodnight James.” She said and looked back at him.
James just stood and looked after her, then when she had left –
“Goodnight.” He almost whispered. “Lily”

I know that we don’t know for sure that there is a head dorm, but there is in my story. Some events I’ll write about later are not possible if they don’t live in there. But I hope you like it anyways.

Hei smile.gif here's next chapter biggrin.gif

James woke up the next day and felt different than he had done for year. First after some seconds he remembered his and Lily’s conversation the night before, and he smiled. He got dressed and walked out of his room. Lily was already up. She looked at him.
“You’re up late.” She concluded.
“I’m always up late. But it had never been a problem, so I’ll keep doing it.” He said and smiled.
“Okay, just don’t be late. And most important: don’t let it have en effect on you duties as a Head Boy.” And with those words she turned and went down to the Great Hall.

When James entered the Great Hall Sirius, Remus and Peter sat in the end of the table. James sat beside them.
“Welcome back Moony” James greeted.
“Hey.” Remus said and looked at James. “How is it to be Head Boy?”
“It’s great. And with Lily! WOW!”
“How is she handling you two living together in the Head Dorm?” Remus asked
“Oh! We talked last night. About how we have treated each other and we are actually friends now”.
“How did you manage that?” Sirius asked.
James didn’t think it was something he should tell the boys. He felt Lily really had put her heart out last night, and it was not something she wanted to be shared with others.
“I don’t know. We just agreed that we would respect each other and try to control ourselves.” James said and looked up. Lily had just stopped behind Remus. She looked at James. James could not read her gaze, but he thought he saw something like amazement and surprise in her eyes. Then she walked on.
Sirius looked at James. “What was that about?” He asked.
“I don’t know Padfoot” James said and looked at as she sat down beside Tess halfway down the table. “I don’t know”
When there were almost 5 minutes to first class started Sirius got up.
“Shall we go?”
“Yes.” Remus and Peter said and stood up to.
James, who wasn’t finished, chewed and swallowed. “I’ll be right up. Just have to finish this”
“Right. See you at class Prongs” Remus said and the three boys walked out the Great Hall heading the Transfiguration classroom.
When James had finished he got up and walked the same way. Just as he had started to go up the stairs upwards, steps were heard behind him. He looked behind.
“Oh, hi.” He said to Lily
“Hey.” She said and walked beside him in silence in the beginning.
“Thanks for not telling the boys about last night.” She suddenly said.
“What?” James was taken by surprise and had stopped at the middle of the stairs.
“You didn’t say what we really talked about last night.” She said and looked at him “I appreciate that.”
“Oh, I just thought it was something we kept between us” He said
“It was. And I really was taken by surprise when I heard you didn’t tell them. Maybe you have grown.” And with those words she walked to class and James just stood at the middle of the stairs and looked after her.

Neither of them are long, but I hope you like them. Enjoy!

“It is so much cheat!” Sirius exclaimed. “You live in this gigantic room with only one more. It’s almost the same size as the Gryffindor common room!”
“You could have pulled your selves together and become Head Boy!” James said and smiled.
He, Sirius, Remus and Peter were in the Head Dorm the second evening back at school.
“And how can you keep your hands of Lily when it’s only the two of you here? It must be really hard!”
“I, unlike you Padfoot, can keep my hands of a girl for more than half an hour.”
“I can keep my hands away from the girls in longer periods.”
“Then where were you and Tess last night?” Remus asked with a twinkle in his eye “We couldn’t find you on the map.”
“Um…”
“The room of requirement I guess?” James asked.
“Yeah, yeah! You did the same when you went out with Kate from Ravenclaw in the end of our fourth year.” Sirius said.
“No I didn’t.” James protested.
“Yes, you did.”
“No! And beside that, I didn’t even like her.”
“Then why did you go out with her?” Peter asked.
“I don’t know. It was you.” James said and pointed at Remus “You said that I needed to go out with others to forget Lily.”
“Yes, and it helped right?” Remus asked.
“Um. Let me think… NO!”
“Just get it Moony. Prongs will never stop chasing Evans.” Sirius said indifferent.
“Talk of the devil,” Remus said and nodded towards the portratihole.
Lily, Tess and Wendy came through.
“You know,” Lily said to James “the Head Dorm is for the Head Boy and Girl only.”
“Look who’s talking…” James said and made an outcome with his arm at Tess and Wendy.
“Fine.” Lily said. She and Wendy went to one of the couches. Tess walked over and kissed Sirius, neither of them let go again. Peter giggled and Remus showed the white of his eyes. Then James remembered something.
“Lily?” he called.
“Yeah?”
“There was a note when I came in here after class. It says that we have to patrol the corridors Wednesday night every week. Shall we do it together or take it in turns?”
“Er… I think after all those things you hear about this Voldemort-guy, it’s best we do it together.”
“You’re probably right.”
“So Wednesday night?”
“Yes, every week.”
Lily turned around and started a conversation with Wendy.
Remus looked at James, then leaned over the table “Did she just agree to spend three hours with you alone one night a week?”
“I think she did Moony” James said and looked at Lily.
“How can that be?” Peter asked.
“I think it’s because I had made her realize that I have grown.” James said and looked at Peter. “Only half a year ago she would have refused.”
“Yeah…” James looked at Lily that in the exact moment laughed and swung her hair over the left shoulder so it fell beautiful down her one side. He signed.

11
“Come on Padfoot! Get a move on!”
“We have been at this school for less than two weeks and you’ll already begin practise?”
James and Sirius were on the way down to the Quidditch field with their brooms over their shoulders. The sun was shinning so none of them would waste a day sitting inside the castle doing homework.
“No, not practise. I just need to get a ride on my broom.” James sad and looked up in the sky. “Beside that, as a captain for the team, I need to practice, and you too if you are going to make the team.”
“You want to get on you broom and get some practice? Then get on and race me down to the Quidditch field, Prongs!” Sirius said.
“Too boring. Let’s make a route!”
“Okay! Hmm. From here, around the statue and that three over there, then around the Hagrid’s hut, over to that rock and back and land here.” Sirius said and jumped on his broom.
“Fine. You’re going down Padfoot.” James said and was on his broom seconds later and the boys raced down on their brooms.
“Yeah right!”
Sirius was first around the statue, but James overtook on the inside when they reached the three. They both were flying faster and faster as they neared the hut and Sirius almost fell of when a bird flied in front of him. James laughed at this when he looked behind, but he should not have turned because he flew in to a branch with a loud crunching sound. He landed at his hand and it hurt, but he was up again right behind Sirius. He was lucky Sirius had lost a lot speed when he almost fell of, and therefore he was not many feet away. James pushed the broom to the utmost and was only few feet from Sirius when they rounded the big rock. James was so focused of the though of catching up at Sirius that he did not notice that they had reached their destination and Sirius had slowed down. James tried to stop but it was not enough, so he flew right into Sirius who was knocked of his legs, as James was knocked of his broom. James landed right on top of Sirius and they both started to laugh.

Lily sat in the Head Dorm and watched it all laughing at the crash at last.
“Lily?” Tess called. “Lily?”
Lily forced herself to look away from the boys and at the two girls she sat together with.
“Yeah?”
“What were you looking at?” Wendy asked and leaned over to look. “James Potter? No, I hope?” She looked at Lily in concern.
“No, no. Of course not!”
“Sirius then?” Tess asked and looked down at Sirius.
“NO! You know what I think about Sirius and beside that, he’s your boyfriend.”
“Good. I was almost begun to think it was another person who sat here with Wendy and I.”
“Yeah, but it’s not.”
“The day Lily starts to show interest in one of the marauders we need to get her checked at madam Pomfrey” Wendy said and laughed.
“There’s nothing wrong with them!” Tess defended.
“Says the girl, who thought Silencio made stars coming out of her wand.” Lily said.
“Hey! That was in fifth year! Why do I need to hear for that still?”
“Because it was so much fun! I have never heard Sirius laugh so much. Not even the time when James made a tail on Snape.” Wendy laughed.
“And that was not fun!” Lily said. “He walked around for five hours and didn’t understand why people laughed at him”
“But it was one of James’ best jokes!” Tess said with tears in her eyes by the memory of Snape with a tail.

Hope you like it.

Hey!
I’m back from my smaller ‘vacation’. And with a new chapter. I hope you enjoy it; at least I enjoyed writing it. biggrin.gif
Here we go!

12
Later when Tess and Wendy had left the Head Dorm and Lily were alone, James and Sirius came bursting inside. Laughing and covered in mud and dirt.
“Hey Lily. Where’s Tess?” Sirius asked
“Not here” Lily answered.
“She said she would be with you?”
“Yeah, but she left ten minutes ago.”
“Alright then. I better go then” He waved at them and went out the portraithole, so James and Lily were alone now.
“How did you get that dirty?” Lily asked James and looked up and down at him.
“Flying.” He just said and placed his broom beside the entrance.
“I’m sure you know that when you’re flying, you’re in the air, not in a puddle of mud.”
“Not when it’s Sirius and I who’s flying. And if you don’t mind, I’ll get myself cleaned.” James said and nodded his head towards the bathroom.
“Oh, sure.”
James went to the bathroom and Lily packed her papers and put them in a drawer in her desk. Then she found some clean paper and ink, and then she began writing a letter to her mother.
Twenty minutes later James had finished showering and came out of the bathroom with wet hair and a towel in his hand.
“Who are you writing to? He asked.
“My mother.” Lily answered. “She wants me to write a lot this year.”
“What about your dad?” James asked while drying his hair with a towel, but knew just as he had spoken that there were something wrong.
“Er…He… He died two year ago.”
“Oh! I’m so sorry Lily. I didn’t know.” He dropped his towel and went over to Lily.
“No, you didn’t. Only Tess and Wendy knew. They were the only once who I could talk to for the worst half year of my life.” Lily said and looked down.
James was sure she was about to cry. He kneeled down in front of her, so their heads were in the same height.
“I’m sorry” He said again. He lifted Lily’s head up with his left hand.
“It’s not your fault, but we were just so close.” she said and one single tear felt down her cheek.
James raised his right hand and dried the tear away with his thumb. “Don’t cry Lily. It also makes me sad.”
“I’m sorry. It’s just hard you know.”
“Yeah.” He looked into her eyes; they were beautiful even with tears in the corners and they shinned bright green. It was like he saw everything inside her, how much it had hurt when her father died and the big fight she had fought after that, to keep herself up.
“You know what I think?” James said and looked out in the dark sky. “I think you should go to bed now. It’s late”
“Perhaps you’re right” She said “I’ll finish this letter tomorrow.”
James stood up and helped Lily up and over to her room.

Hey you all biggrin.gif
I’m would have updated yesterday, but my Internet didn’t work sad.gif
But here is the next chapter.

13
Lily woke up the next morning in the worst mood for several months. She turned and lay at the other side. She remembered last night, and how much she missed her father. Since he died, things had never been the same at home. Petunia had begun hating Lily and her mother was sad most of the time. She always smiled at Lily and praised the magic she could do. She was talking most of the time, but in other times her face was unreadable and dark ad she didn’t utter a word. It had been better the last year, and Lily kept hoping that she would eventually get her old mother back.
Then Lily remembered James, and how sweet he had been. He had dried a tear of her cheek, and then they had looked her into the eyes. His eyes were more hazel colour than she had remembered, and they were so much deeper than they been all those years she had looked right through them. They were filled with concern and… was it resentment of what he had said, she had thought. And for the first time since the first night back, she realised that the relationship between them really had changed. But had he?
“Lily?” A voice was heard outside her door. When she didn’t response James called again. Then he opened the door.
Lily didn’t move.
“Why are you still in bed?” He asked
“I… I don’t feel well.” She said slowly
James walked over to her bed and put a hand on her forehead. “You’re not felling warm or anything.” He said.
“I don’t think a will made to the first class. It’s Slughorn we’ll have, so it’ll be okay. Just go.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yes.”
“All right then. But I’ll come back and see to you after class.” He said and walked out the door and left Lily alone with her thoughts.
James walked out the portraithole and met with Sirius, Remus and Peter in the Great Hall.
“Morning.” He said and smiled.
“Good morning.” They greeted.
“Ready for potions?” Remus asked.
“No.” James and Sirius said at the same time.
“Hey, James?” a girl asked behind him.
“What?” he asked and turned around and saw Wendy and Tess.
“Where’s Lily?” Tess asked.
“Oh, she didn’t feel well, and decided to sleep another hour or two.”
“It’s nothing serious is it?” Wendy asked with concern.
“No, no. And I’ll go check on her later.”
“Right” And with those words the girls walked away.

After potions James walked to the Head Dorm. Lily was not in her bed, so he walked to the bathroom and knocked at the door. She opened the door about three inches and James saw she was only wearing a towel.
“Sorry” He blushed slightly and looked away “Are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine. I just needed to think things over again.”
“Okay. You’ll be there for charms then?” He asked.
“Yes.”
“Good. By the way, Tess and Wendy asked for you”
“Okay. Thanks.”
“I’ll go then.” James said and turned around.
Lily watched James as he walked out the portraithole with her head slightly slanted.

Here’s the next chapter to you. First i didn't know about the last half of this chapter, but then I decided to just post. I mean what could happen by doing it? Nevermind..
When you have red it, leave feedback.
Here we go.

14
The last year at Hogwarts had already lasted a month. It was full moon and James, Sirius and Peter had been out late with Remus in his werewolf-form. James had said goodbye to Sirius and Peter and the portrait to the Head Dorm. He entered and looked at a little watch at the deck. It was half past four in the morning. He signed. He looked at Lily’s door, he didn’t want to wake her up, so he went on tiptoe towards his room.
“Where have you been?”
The voice came as a shock to James, and even though he was tired he jumped up. He looked around and saw Lily sitting in a chair with her arms on cross.
“Oh, hi Lily.” He said and tried to sound innocent.
“I asked you something.” She just said. She got u from the chair and approached James.
“Just around.”
“At four thirty in the morning?” She asked.
“Well yeah, we got carried away.”
“I see.” She stood still five feet from James. “With what?”
“Just stuff you know.” He said.
“Right” Lily kept looking at James and he knew that she knew that he was not telling the whole truth.
“Why do you care? We haven’t made any trouble.”
“Good. Because you have already been to five detentions this year. But tell me what you were doing then?”
“We just needed to clear our heads and be ourselves.”
“And you can’t that four thirty in the afternoon?”
“No.” He said and took a step closer to her. “Lily, I would love to tell you exactly what we were doing, but I can’t.”
Lily looked at James as he said it. He looked very honest, and she believed in him.
“Fine.” She finely gave in. “I respect that. Just as long as you have not made any trouble.”
“Thank you. And just as you know, it’s not because I don’t want to tell you. It IS because I can’t.”
“It’s okay. But isn’t it a little too much when it last that long?”
“No, can’t be done in shorter time.” He said and smiled.
“Right. Then go to bed now. Be glad that we have a free period first tomorrow.”
“Trust me: I am” And with those words he turned and walked into his bedroom. He dressed off and collapsed on the bed where he fell asleep immediately.
Lily stood back and looked after him. Wondering what he had got carried away with and why he could not tell her, but hoped it was nothing important. It could be anything, especially in these times. Lily knew which kind of family Sirius was from, but never had the expression of him being like them all, but you could never know. Lily pushed the thought of Sirius being a pureblood-maniac away. Then her thoughts fell on James again. When she thought about it, she didn’t know much about him and his family. That thought scared her, but she suddenly remembered herself: The muggleborn who James had this huge crush on. He would not go chasing her around if he hated muggleborns. Lily pushed the thought of James liking her away again. It didn’t make her feel comfortable that she lived with a boy who liked her as much as James did. But she suddenly found herself happy that it was not another girl who stood in her place, any other girl in this castle would not hesitate by using this position to make a move on James.
“Hold on a second.” She muttered to herself, and hoped that James was asleep so he didn’t hear her talking to herself. Lily became aware that in her thoughts she was happy that she lived with James, so another girl wouldn’t begin to make moves on him. Did she actually like the attention he gave her?
Lily slapped herself for thinking that. She came to the conclusion that it was because she was so tired she thought things like that and turned around to her own room.

Hey biggrin.gif
This chapter is very short, but please don't hate me for that.

15
Next day James slept long. There were ten minutes to class started when Lily knocked at the door.
“James?” She asked and opened the door at ajar.
He lay on his back and snored slightly. She smiled and suppressed a giggle, then walked inside and stood by his bed. He looked very warm and she put a hand on his cheek to feel if ha was ill. He shivered and his right hand gripped hard around her wrist.
“Ouch!” she complained.
James opened his eyes. “Oh, it’s just you.” He said very hoarse and let go of her hand. “Sorry ‘bout that, but why did you have to wake me up?”
“We have to be in class in ten minutes.”
“What!” He romped out of his bed.
Lily looked, he was only wearing shorts. She noticed his upper part of the body was very muscular and good-looking, it was probably the quidditch. She giggled.
“Stop that! It’s my room, and I can dress like I want!” he turned his back on her and bent down to find something beside his bed. Lily looked at his back, and noticed something.
“What’s this?” She asked and stroked a half inch wide and half feet long and white scar just above his left hip.
“It’s just a scar I got in the beginning of our sixth year.” He felt her soft fingers stroke along the scar upwards, then back again with the whole hand flat on his back, he closed his eyes and suppressed a tremble.
“How?”
“An accident with some animal in Care of Magical Creatures.” He didn’t look up and kept looking for the thing.
“I don’t remember that.”
“You don’t have that subject.”
“That’s right.” Lily said and smiled to herself. “But why did there become a scar? Madam Pomfrey could have healed it in no time and it wouldn’t be seen.”
“Yeah, but there were something in the claws and it could almost not heal.” James had still not looked Lily in the eyes and obvious avoided it, but Lily did not notice; she could not take her eyes of the scar.
“It must really have been deep.” She said and felt something inside of her, almost like sympathy.
James turned around and looked at Lily who looked up at him.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m fine now. Let’s go to class.”
Lily walked out the room. James sat heavily at his bad and blew some air out. The truth about the scar was that it was Remus as werewolf who did it. James didn’t want to go to madam Pomfrey with it; it was possible that she began to suspect them, and then James had let it heal by itself.

Please leave feedback when you have red it. Last I only got three. Does my story stink that much? huh.gif
Anyway… Here’s the next chapter.

16
“Let go of me!”
“No!”
James held on to Sirius, helped by Peter, while Remus poured water down Sirius’s back. The reason for this was that Sirius had cast a spell at the wineglass, which James was about to do an Imperturbable charm at, and it blew up because of Sirius.
“The water is cold!”
“Then don’t make me look like an idiot another time” James said and let go.
Some sixth year’s girls giggled of Sirius, whose school robes had turned half a round at his body and he was wet all the way down his back. His hair was very messy which didn’t suit him and he looked very grumpy.
Sirius dried himself with his wand and walked down the Great Hall. Down there he sat beside Tess, Lily and Wendy. James, Remus and Peter went over there, but Sirius would not talk to them.
“What’s wrong with him?” Lily asked and leaned a little over so it was not necessary to talk to laud.
“Remember when my glass blew up in charms?” James asked her.
“Yeah?”
“He got payback and is not too happy about it.” James said in a way that showed that he didn’t regret it or even care.
“Don’t you want to apologize?” She looked at Remus too.
“No, he deserved it. By the way, he talks to us again within twenty minutes.” Remus said in the same tone as James.
And sure Remus was right. At the way to the Head Dorm, Sirius caught up with them.
“Want a little trip to Hogsmeade tonight?” He asked.
This happened every time some of the marauders had teased or ‘punished’ another marauder, so there were no need to say ‘sorry’ or ‘you’re forgiven’ like others did when something similar had happened to them. This was the everyday life for the marauders.
“Sure.” Remus said and smiled.
“Yes, it would be fun.” Peter said.
“Sorry guys. Lily and I have to patrol the corridors, and I will not catch you out of beds after nine!” Said James and looked around for others before he added. “Therefore you can borrow my invisible cloak.”
“All right!” Sirius said enthusiastic.

That night James and Lily patrolled the corridors. They were on the third floor when suddenly Lily stopped.
“What?” James asked
“I… I think I heard something over there” She said and pointed forward.
“But there’s nothing” James said after he had looked.
Suddenly she shivered and took a step to her left so she bumped right into James.
“What?” He asked and put one hand around her shoulder and looked at her in concern.
“Something touched me. It felt like… like floating water or something.” She said and looked down the corridor they came from.
“Perhaps it was just a ghost.” James said, but he knew at once what it was.
“Yeah, perhaps it was” She said and rubbed her arm.
“Let’s move on.” James suggested.
“Sure.”
Lily looked down the corridor one more time before moving on.
The rest of the night passed without anything special about it, and Lily and James sat in a couch back in the heard dorm ten minutes past twelve. None of them felt like sleeping, and they didn’t know why. There were silent and they both just sat and stared into the fire, then suddenly Lily turned to James.
“Do you really think it was a ghost? You know, out there” She asked slowly.
“I can’t see what it else would be.” He answered and looked at her.
“Don’t you think we should report it to Dumbledore? Or at least McGonagall? Just to be on the safe side.”
James looked at her for a while. If he said ‘no’ Lily would perhaps be suspicious.
“All right. We’ll do this as the first thing in the morning.” He finally said.
“Good.” Lily smiled weakly.
Then James realised something “You weren’t scared, were you?” He asked.
“No!” She said but after had received a piercing look from James she looked down and added “Perhaps a little.”
“So Lily Evans does have fears.” James said and smiled.
“What do you mean by that?” She asked almost like she was offended.
“It’s just… you have always seamed to me like you had nothing to fear, and were braver than most.”
“No one can be perfect.” She said simply.
“No, but you’re really close you know.” James looked her in the eyes and she looked back. Several seconds passed before he realised what he had just said and that he had starred ever since. He shook himself and got up at once.
“What?” She asked and looked with wonder at him.
“Just tired you know.” He said and he turned around towards his room “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Lily said. She sat in the couch for almost a minute and looked after James even though he had walked inside his own room and she could not see him anymore. Some time went before she got up, and walked to her own room.

That's all for today smile.gif

“It was so much fun. Too bad you weren’t there Prongs.”
It was morning, and Sirius, Remus and Peter told about yesterday’s experience.
“And you should have seen when Wormtail here tripped at the stairs and all the way down on our way home.” Sirius laughed and patted Peter on the shoulder.
“It was no fun!” Peter almost yelled.
“Only because you were the one who fell.” Remus said.
Peter opened his mouth to protest “Yeah, but Sirius trip-”
“Speaking of you way home…” James interrupted “You passed Lily and me in a corridor on the third floor right?”
“Yes” Sirius said.
“Be careful about that. Lily heard you and felt the cloak. Of course she didn’t know what or who it was. But she’ll report it to Dumbledore.”
“But neither you nor Lily caught us.” Sirius said.
“No. Because I didn’t want to” James looked up and saw Lily walk into the Great Hall. She looked in his direction and when their eyes meet she looked down and her cheeks went a little red. She walked past James and his friends over to Tess and Wendy who had seen it all.
“What was that?” Tess asked
“What was what?” Lily asked back
“You’re pink all in your face. And it was after you looked at the marauders. Was it James?” Tess asked. Lily didn’t answer.
“Now that I think about it… you haven’t shouted at him or anything all year beside that time in the train. Are you feeling well?” Wendy asked.
“Okay! Stop that and listen to this. Yesterday when James and I had patrolled the corridors we sat and talked, and for some reason I said something, which made him say something with I was close to be perfect.”
“But Lily, he had said that before and you have never been pink in your face because of that.” Wendy said.
“You hit him didn’t you?” Tess asked.
“I know he had, but this time I didn’t shout at him or anything… we just looked at each other for a long time. And then -”
“Oh my god! You didn’t let him get away with that! Did you?” Tess asked.
The three girls looked at each other for sometime before Wendy broke the silence.
“You like him don’t you?”
“No, but he somehow seam different this year.” Lily answered and took some toast from a plate while thinking.
“How can that be?” Tess asked with wonder,
“He has been a really fool since we got here and still is.” Wendy added.
“The first night here, he asked why I hated him.” Lily almost whispered.
“What did you say?” Wendy wanted to know.
“I first waited some time, and then we talked about that thing in first year, and -”
“You did not tell him!” Tess cut in and her eyes went big. She and Wendy had never seen Lily that unhappy before, only the time when her father died. They didn’t think she should talk to James about that day, and yet she had.
“Yes I did, and he said that he was truly sorry, and would never have hurt me on purpose.”
“How can you know it was not just something he said?”
“I don’t know. He seamed more honest than I have ever seen him. And he somehow seems more mature this year.” Lily said and went silent as she began eating.
Tess and Wendy looked at each other like their friend had gone mad.

Hey all biggrin.gif
These chapters are very short. So i decided to give you TWO biggrin.gif
Hope you enjoy. Here we go smile.gif

18
The first trip to Hogsmeade had come, and Lily was feeling lost. She and Wendy sat alone in the Head Dorm and talked about the trip.
“So, Tess is going with Sirius. And YOU are NOT going, because you’ll do homework with Remus?” Lily asked Wendy.
“Yes.” Wendy said and her cheeks went a little pink.
Lily could not believe her own ears. Who could she now go with? She should get going within an hour if she didn’t want to stay back.
“You can ask Alice and Lina.” Wendy suggested, referring to the two last girls in their dormitory.
“No, Alice is going to meet her boyfriend, Frank Long-something, who’s a year older that us. And Lila is going with her Hufflepuff-boyfriend and his friends.” Lily said
“Wow that really sucks. But I have promised to be here with Remus.”
“AH! I don’t want to be stuck here!” Lily exclaimed and looked out the window and down at those, who already were on their way.
“You could ask James and Peter if you could go with them.” Wendy said carefully.
“Actually,” James deep voice was heard from the portraithole. “It would just be me. Peter ate something, and now his toenails won’t stop growing.”
Lily and Wendy suppressed a giggle.
“So, should it be us?” James asked smiling his most charming smile. The most girls in the castle would fall for that, but Lily had gotten it so many times and just looked normally at him.
“I don’t think so.”
“It will only be for an hour perhaps two. We’ll meat up with Sirius and Tess in the Three Broomsticks. Sirius and I have already made an appointment.”
This would be like a date, Lily thought. Since the middle of their third year James had asked her out once in a while. She had never said yes, and if she went now, she had giving in, and James had gotten his will after three and a half year. It was not because she didn’t want to go with him. He just shouldn’t win!
Lily had gone very silent and James looked at her in that old way he always did when he asked her.
“Come on Lily it would be fun?”
Lily looked at James and took a deep breath.
“All right, then. But only because I need to get out.” She said, then added. “And it’s NOT a date, James.”

19
Lily would never have thought that she could have so much fun in Hogsmeade with James. He made her laugh of everything and he was keen to make her enjoy the afternoon. James surprised her more than once. First James and Lily entered Honey Dukes. James asked her which flavour she would like her ice to be. Lily looked down.
“You don’t have to buy me anything” She muttered. But after he looked at her she said “All right, chocolate.”
James left her for two seconds, and then he came back to her with one ice to Lily and one to himself. “Here you are.” He said and handled the ice over.
“Thanks.”
The second time she was surprised they walked down the Hogsmeade Street and a boy with greasy black hair and a crooked nose walked towards them. At his side another boy walked, his hair was dark brown and has eyes was dark. When they saw them their lips curled into evil smiles.
“Look it’s the mudblood and the potter.” Snape said, and the other boy, Evan Rosier laughed evil.
“Shut up!” James felt his temper rise.
Snape looked around and he and Rosier drew their wands, but James was much quicker. Expeliarmus, he thought and their wands flew up in the air and landed in a pile of mud more than ten feet behind them. A little laugh escaped Lily. James sent them disgusting looks and then looked at their wands, which sank deeper and deeper in the pile. Then he placed his one arm around Lily’s shoulders, turned her around and walked the opposite way.
“Why didn’t you do more to them?” She asked.
“What?” James asked her back.
“Why didn’t you hex them? I have never seen you miss a chance to hex Snape.”
“Well, I…” James said. Lily’s question had surprised him, and first he didn’t know what to say “I didn’t want to ruin you day by going around and hexing people” he said at last.
“Thanks for that.” She said “Should we go and meet Tess and Sirius?”
“Yeah. Think it’s about time” James said. He suddenly became aware that his arm still had hold on Lily’s shoulders. He removed the arm, cleared his throat and straightened his back.
Lily smiled slightly of James reaction.
Three minutes later Lily opened the door into the Three Broomsticks and they looked around. Tess and Sirius sat in the corner in the end of the room, kissing. James went after Lily and sat beside Sirius at the table. They all ordered some butterbeers and talked about the day.
Three hours later James and Lily entered the Head Dorm. James walked towards his room and had opened his door when -.
“James?”
“Yeah?” He asked and turned to Lily
Lily looked into James eyes for some seconds “Thanks for taking me today. It has been really fun.”
“Your welcome.” He said and smiled “Want to join me to the feast in the Great Hall in twenty minutes time?”
“Yeah, we can meet with the others then.”

“I can’t believe this.”
“What is it?”
Lily leaned over the table to see the newspaper Wendy was reading; The daily prophet. There was a big photo of a big skull with a snake out of its mouth lightening at the sky.
“Mr Hanison, you know, that man who owned that lovely sweetshop in Diagon Alley, is dead.” Wendy explained.
“NO, is that true?” Lily asked.
“Yeah. They say it was him Voldemort and his followers.”
“And it’s because he’s half muggle.” Tess added.
“Why kill a person just because he’s not pureblood?”
“Don’t ask me to understand the though of a maniac.”
Lily leaned back, still with her eyes on the photo. This was scary. She could not stop thinking that herself was a muggleborn and if this continued, she would be in graver danger than most of her friends.
“Morning.”
Lily looked up. It was James and Sirius who had come to sit beside them.
“What are you looking at?” James asked and looked at the newspaper, he red in silence.
“What is it?” Sirius asked and took the newspaper, when James was finished.
“How are you feeling?” James asked Lily and looked at her.
She looked up. “This could be me.” She said, not believing that James asked to her about something like that.
“Don’t think that!” James said. “It could be anybody.”
“Yeah. Anybody with muggleblood in their veins. This means that I’m in much bigger danger than you all.” Lily was close to tears now, she didn’t like the fact that there were a killer on the loose and he killed everyone with muggleblood.
“Lily, stop.” James had seen the look in her eyes and gave her a hug. “You’re safe here. Dumbledore would never let that maniac enter the school. And if you should ever meet that Voldemort guy, how big is the chance that you will have no one around you and no wand to defend yourself.”
Lily knew that Wendy and Tess showed the white of their eyes because they though James was just acting polite and kind, but Lily knew he was very honest at this.
When Lily pulled away from James, she noticed that everyone was looking at her.
“I’m fine you know.” She said a little uncomfortable at them all looking.
“Okay.” Sirius said lightly and got up. “Want to get your broom and got some practice with me Prongs?”
“Sure.” James said and got up too. “See you all later.” He gave Lily a quick look before he and Sirius went out the Great Hall.
“How are you Lily?” Wendy asked.
“I’m fine now. I just overreacted.” Lily said with her eyes on the door to the Entrance Hall.
“Think James did so too.” Tess joked.
“Just because he was polite you think he was idiot, right?” Lily asked and looked at Tess.
“Well… Yeah.”
“Stop that. I don’t go around and say bad things about Sirius all the time, do I?”
“No, but you and James are not dating. And by the way, you yourself used to hate him.”
“He has grown, and so have I. We have both realised that se have been idiots to each other. And we’re actually fine around each other now.” Lily defended James.
“Yeah, we saw that.”
“Lily, just be careful.” Wendy sad and took her hand. “We don’t want you to get hurt once more. Just be all the ‘friends’ with him as you like. But remember all those girls’ hearts he has broken just in our year… or in the year below us to talk. He wants you too, and if he gets what he wants you’ll join the club of girls with broken hearts by James.”
“Maybe.” Lily said and looked into her plate once more. Se didn’t think it was fair of her friends to think that of James. He really had changed, and Lily was sure that he was like the person she had gotten so good along with in their first year, again. She had really liked that person, and knew too herself that she was about to fall for him again. She smiled to herself, and found that she didn’t mind, which as first surprised her, but then again. He had become a sweet person.

Okaaaay… I think its official now: Lily likes James … Hope you enjoyed and please it post feedback here. Thank you smile.gif

I'm so bored that i just have decided to post a new chapter to you all ...( Dont know if I shall smile or be sad that I have so much sparetime :S) Ah, well... Happy reading !

21
“… and that bludger was so close to you” Peter said and raised a hand with two fingers almost touching.
It was the middle of November and the weather was getting colder. The marauders sat under a big tree in the Hogwarts grounds, and discussed the latest Quidditch match: Gryffindor-Slytherin, a match which Gryffindor had won 230-100.
“Yeah,” James said and looked into the air. He was thinking. One time when he had scored, he and Sirius had flown over the crowd; he had noticed Lily among them. She looked at him! He had had so hard to forget her gaze that a bludger scraped his left arm, and he had to focus at the match again.
He kept thinking of Tess’s words after the game ‘Lily had never been to a Quidditch match before today, and I can’t believe what made go this time. She even paid attention at the match!’ James was almost entirely sure that she had come to see him. After the game, Lily had even said, that he played very good.
He was so lost in thoughts that he didn’t hear Peter praise his flying. He just nodded and said “Yeah”.
“Oh, it’s the girls.” Sirius said and pointed.
James came back to reality. He was not the only one who sat up and looked in the direction. Remus had too sat straight up and looked. Down the lawn came Lily going with Tess and Wendy. James shook his head to arrange his hair to look better. The girls walked by. Tess waved to Sirius. Wendy and Lily just looked up, both looked down again immediately and both with pink cheeks. James looked at Remus who cleared his throat and looked down in his book.
“Umm, Moony?” James asked slowly.
“Yeah, what?” he answered.
“Something you wish to tell us?”
“No, I don’t think so.”
“Then what’s up between you and Wendy?”
Remus’s cheeks went a little pink. “Er, we do homework together.”
“In the same way as Sirius and Tess do?”
“Hey!” Sirius exclaimed. “Why use me as an example?”
James ignored the question.
“No, no. Really, we just study together.” Remus said, and then added. “And by the way… If we liked each other it wouldn’t be anything. You know…”
“Please Moony!” James exclaimed “You-you… you just have a furry little problem!”
Remus smiled weakly. “Wish it was that easy. Anyways… what about Lily?”
“Oh. We’re friends, but I would wish it was more. I just won’t risk it.”
“Don’t worry Prongs, she’ll come around.” Sirius said to comfort him.
“I hope so,” James said while watching Lily down at the lake, with a dreamy look. “I really hope so.”

Post feedback.

Hey all. biggrin.gif I here’s the next chapter to you. Happy reading!

22
The snow started falling in the middle of the first day of December. The marauders were in the library, doing homework. James looked up, and signed by the sight of the snow.
“What?” Remus asked.
“The snow! I can’t concentrate now.” James said and threw his pen on the table.
Sirius, who sat at the back to the window, looked up. “It’s snowing?”
Remus nodded. “Yeah” and Sirius turned around.
“We can’t work now.” He concluded, and he too threw his pen.
“Why?” Peter asked
“It’s Christmas now. Why make homework when it’s snowing outside?” Sirius said and leant back.
He and James started to throw a green ball between them.
“Do all stay here for Christmas?” Remus wanted to know.
“I will,” Sirius said “I have no home to go home to.”
“Padfoot, I have said a thousand times that you would be welcome at my house.” James said “But since my parents are going to visit some uncle I don’t know, I guess we stay. What about you Wormtail?”
“I think I’ll stay if all you guys are.” Peter said and looked at the others.
“I’m staying too. So guess we’re all here for Christmas.” Remus said, then returned his gaze to the papers and started writing.
Sirius threw the ball to James, but it flew past and landed outside the library.
“I’ll get it” James said and got up.
When he had stepped outside the library a voice was heard behind him.
“Is this what you’re looking for?”
James turned around and Snape stood with Sirius’s ball in the left hand. James and Snape looked into each others eyes two seconds before they drew their wands. Snape sent a red light out of his wand. James thought, Protegto. The spell was sent back but Snape did something and the spell hit a spot feet away from him. Two spells later, Snape had a big gash on his forearm and James was very out of breath because it had been knocked out of him, when he flew through the air and landed at the floor.
James lay at his stomach and pointed his wand at Snape and thought, Impedimenta. Snape didn’t have time to block the spell and it hit him and knocked him of his feet. James ran over to him and kicked his wand out of his hand and took Sirius’s ball.
“Too bad, you can’t understand that you’ll always lose, Snivellus.” James looked at him in disgust and went inside the library.
“Why took it so long?” Sirius asked.
“Oh, I just had I little meeting with Snivellus.” James said breathless.
“Where is he?” Sirius said and jumped up.
“Outside, but I took care of him. Here is your ball.” James threw the ball over the table.

I know it’s short and there didn’t happen very much (or nothing), but this was kind of a build-up for the next chapter, which I hope you’ll read, because it kind of interesting. Hello. smile.gif
Here's the next chapter to you biggrin.gif

23
The snow became deeper and deeper for each day. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were outside when Lily, Tess and Wendy walked by. Sirius was quick to make a snowball and threw it after the girls. It hit Tess on the upper arm and seconds after she threw one back, which hit James. Soon a snowball fight had begun. Some other people who were near joined the fight and within ten minutes 20-30 people had joined the fight.
James stood and enjoyed the view over the lake, when a big blot of snow was pushed down his back.
“Arrgh!” He exclaimed. He turned around and saw Lily run for it.
James ran after her, and since he was much faster than her, he caught up with her. Lily turned around just in the same time as James threw himself and overturned her in a big heap of snow.
James felt himself fall on top of Lily, and they both laughed of it for some time while looking each other into the eyes. When they stopped laughing James became aware of how close their faces were. It was only inches. They looked each other into the eyes for some seconds. James could fell his heart beat faster and faster as Lily came closer and closer. Or was it him who came closer to her? He didn’t know, and funny enough he didn’t really care. Lily’s face was less than an inch away and James could feel her warm breath against his lips.
Then suddenly James was gone, Lily got up and saw Sirius and Remus drag him away by the feet. He was looking so helpless she thought. No wonder about that. He was not ready for that and was taken with his parades down. She felt back in the snow with her hands behind her head, looking up in the sky and signed.

As James walked back to the castle with Sirius, Remus and Peter he could not stop himself thinking of what had just happened. He had been seconds away from kissing Lily. If it had not been for Sirius and Remus he had. Of course they didn’t knew what they had done, but that didn’t prevent James from accusing them for had stolen probably the best moment of his life from him. He actually couldn’t believe it, Lily had let him get so close to a kiss, if just Sirius and Remus had not come and interrupted. Lily definitely liked him. Why else would she let him get that close to a kiss? Why not just have pushed him away?
James said goodbye to them at the portrait to the Head Dorm. Inside there were not much light because it was dark outside, the only came from the candle lights which stood at the tables. James noticed that Lily wasn’t there, so he quickly went to bath. When he had finished showering he came out of the bathroom, pulling a black t-shirt over his head. He looked up and saw Lily was sitting in the couch, looking at him.
“What?” He asked and grinned.
Lily blushed, but James did not notice because the lack of light. She didn’t know what to say, so she blurted out with the worst question ever.
“Will you ever tell me where you, Sirius, Remus and Peter are those nights?”
She wanted to know the answer, and she had thought over it since last time James had been away, but she knew she wouldn’t get the answer she wanted.
James looked at her. “I don’t know.” He said very honest.
“Why?”
“It wouldn’t be fair to my friends. But I can tell you this: Hogwarts grounds are beautiful in the moonlight.”
“They are?” Lily thought it was a weird answer, but was surprised to hear this from James.
“Yeah. Have you never been out at night?”
“No, not really?”
“Are you serious?” James could not believe her.
“Yes. I have never been out of beds after we should be back to our dorm.”
“Wow. But you really should see it some time.” James told her.
“Maybe some night I will.” She said and stood up. “Goodnight”
“Goodnight.” James looked at her as she was walking to her bedroom.
When Lily stood at the stairs she looked back and caught his eye, then smiled.

The marauders were alone inside the Head Dorm. There was fire in the fireplace, and they roasted everything that was able to roast over it.
“So,” Sirius said while roasting a marshmallow “the teachers have talked about arranging a Yule ball this year.”
“Really?” James asked and looked up from his sausage.
“Yeah. They said something about turning light in the dark.”
“Did they say that to you or have you listened to them without permission again?” Remus asked.
“Er, does it matter?” Sirius asked back and ate his marshmallow.
“No. Or yes, you shouldn’t listen to others conversations.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“So, you’ll take Tess then. If there will be one?” James asked Sirius.
“Yes, of course. Guess you’ll try Lily?”
“Perhaps. Moony do you want to ask your ‘homework’ friend?” James asked and putting emphasis on the word homework and a wide smile on his face.
“Shut up Prongs. You should pull yourself up and ask Lily.” Remus answered back.
“Perhaps I will then.” James said slowly and leaned back. He had though about a thing since last night. He wanted to take Lily out a night so she could see Hogwarts at night. It would be beautiful and she would love it. He and the other marauders knew the grounds better that anyone else and it would be perfect to show Lily a night. He just knew that she would love it, and after the episode in the snow yesterday, James was sure he could make her go with him.
“Earth to James Potter. Earth to James Potter!” Sirius waved with a hand in front of James, who had been silence for more than a minute.
“What?” James asked slightly annoyed and hit to Sirius’s hand to get it away.
“We’re run out of sausages. Moony, Wormtail and I have voted and you have to go down to the kitchen and get some.”
“Yeah. All right.” James said and got up, still a little bit dreamy.
“And bring some biscuits too.” Peter yelled at him when he was halfway through the portraithole.

James opened silent the door into Lily’s bedroom and sneaked over to the side of her bed. She looked beautiful when she was asleep. Her hair fell lovely on her pillow and her lips were perfect with a slight smile. He signed. He wanted to be with her so much as he wanted to breath and live. She was the one thing he wanted the most, but also the one thing he didn’t have. A horrible thought.
“Lily?” He asked, trying to wake her. “Lily?”
He reached a hand out and touched her cheek. Her eyes blinked a couple of times.
“James what are you doing in here?” She asked in the sleepiest voice James had ever heard and pulled her duvet up around her head. “And what time is it?” She looked at the clock, which showed two thirty.
“Get dressed with warm clothes and meet me outside your door in five minutes” He said and smiled, then left her.
Lily got up and tried to get dressed quickly, but she was still tired and it took long time.
Outside her room, James was waiting for her. Seven minutes passed before Lily got down the three steps. James thought she looked beautiful, even though she had just gotten out of bed. Her hair was brushed and fell lovely down her back and shoulders and she was wearing several warm sweaters, but didn’t look fat or anything at all. James smiled.
“What’s so important that you have to wake me up in this time at night?” Lily asked.
James just put a finger on his lips and took her by the hand. “Come with me.”
He went out the portraithole and down the corridor. Lily was so sleepy that she did not wake up before a cold wind blew her in the face. James led Lily down the grounds through the snow, then up a little hill. Before they reached the top James placed his hand in front if her eyes so she couldn’t see anything. The cold wind had woken Lily up now and could not hold a gasp back when James removed his hands from her eyes. James had led her up at a little hill where she could see over whole Hogwarts, its grounds and the lake.
“It’s amazing!” She said silent.
“Wait to you sees this.” James said and pointed into the sky.
A single cloud glided to the one side and the half-moon shone over the grounds and made everything shine even more with it. Lily felt James’s arm around her while she was watching the sight. She looked at the lake; the surface’s waves sent sparkles up. Then she looked into the sky with the single cloud and thousands of stars at. The snow at the towers shone and made together with the snow at the grounds the castle look like something from the fairytales.
“I told you it was beautiful” James whispered into her ear.
“I have never seen anything like this.” Lily whispered back.
It was like they would destroy the perfect view if they raised they voices to much.
None of them knew how long time they had stood there when James bent down to Lily’s ear.
“Do you think it’s time to go back to school?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
At the way back they didn’t speak. They both enjoyed the view. Lily was still amazed when they got inside the castle. They went all the way up to their dorm and went inside before she came back to reality. James walked Lily to her door. She took the first step up, and turned around. It was small steps and Lily was still inches shorter than him. James looked at her
“Thanks for taking me tonight.” She said. Her voice was still not more than a whisper “It was stunning.”
“Any time.” He said, also in the low voice and smiled slightly.
Lily looked into James’s eyes and he into hers for several seconds. She became so lost in the eyes which looked back into hers, and suddenly she became aware of how close James was to her. Then she felt one hand around her neck and one around her waist. She herself had placed her hands on James’s shoulders, still looking him in the eyes. She knew what was going to happen and felt that it was so much more right than anything she had done all year. She could feel her heart beating faster and louder. When their noses were almost touching she closed her eyes, the only thing she could hear was her own heart and James’s breathing. When Lily and James’s lips meet, Lily felt a warm spread from her lips to the whole buddy. Her heart skipped a beat and she suddenly was out of breath. It was like butterflies were flying around in her stomach and al the way up to her throat.
Then they broke apart and Lily looked into James eyes again. Then she noticed it. It was like this gigantic torch was on fire behind those hazel eyes of his. But it was more than that. There was passion, happiness and perhaps a little excitement. Then she lifted her head again as an invitation for him to kiss her again, and so he did. This time the kiss lasted longer and it was deeper. When they broke apart, James had let his one had slide into her hair and now stroked it softly with his hand. Her own arms held around his neck and didn’t want to let go, but after a few seconds she had to.
“Goodnight.” Lily had broken the silence that had come after the kiss.
“Goodnight.” James answered and slowly let go of her.
James stood back and looked at the closed door. When he walked back to his own room, he looked at the clock. Three thirty. He threw himself on the bed, and could not believe what had just happened. He, James Potter, had just kissed the girls of his dreams, Lily Evans. He was like floating on his own cloud at his own sky in his own universe: Nothing could touch him.

I could read in my feedback thread that everyone expected this to happen to the Yule ball. It didn’t because then it was more of a surprise. And it would have been too typical, I like to be a little different. But say what you think and post your feedback here. biggrin.gif

When Lily woke up the next morning, James had already gone down to the Great Hall. It was Friday and she had slept longer, and wondered why James had not. She went for a shower and went down the Great Hall to Tess and Wendy. They sat in the end furthest away, so Lily walked all the way up through the table. James and his friends sat in the middle of the table. He looked up when Lily walked past and smiled. Lily couldn’t help it, and blushed and tried to smile back at him. Then she walked faster up towards Tess and Wendy.
“Who smacked you in the face?” Tess asked.
“Huh?” Lily asked confused.
“You’re red all over. Has someone smacked you or what’s up?”
“Oh, no one has smacked me or anything.”
“Then what’s up?” Wendy asked
“Nothing. All right. It’s just hot in here.”
Lily didn’t know why she didn’t tell Tess and Wendy, but didn’t feel bad about it or anything. Perhaps the lying part, but she was not sure about her and James yet.
“No, it’s not. It’s actually cold.”
“Then I don’t know why I am.”
“Okay.” Tess said but didn’t seam convinced.
Lily looked quickly at James without knowing, that he too was being questioned.
“What was up with that smile you gave Lily?” Remus asked as he leaned over the table.
“It was just a smile.” James said and looked at his breakfast
“Sure?” Sirius asked “And what about your walk last night?”
“Nothing happened.”
Sirius raised his eyebrows in disbelief. “Yeah right. The most coveted and most heartbreaking guy at Hogwarts, James Potter, was on a date and nothing happened.” He laughed, but it was obvious that he didn’t think it was fun.
“Believe it or not. And by the way: That’s your job, Padfoot, not mine.”
Sirius smiled weakly at this. “Who are you going to take to the ball?”
“So there is a ball then?” Peter asked.
“Yep. But we won’t get to know before Monday. Come on, who are you going to ask?”
“Don’t know.” Remus said.
“Ask Wendy. She likes you.” James suggested
“Ask Lily.” Remus said.
James looked at Remus for two seconds. “Ask Wendy.”
“Ask Lily.”
James and Remus looked at each other for a long time.
“Perhaps I will.” James then said.
“Then perhaps I’ll ask Wendy.” Remus said, still looking at James.
“Good.”
“Good.”
Sirius and Peter kept back a laugh of James’s and Remus’s argument.

27
“Miss Evans!”
“Yes?”
“Can you answer my question?”
“Umm…” Lily sat in the back of the class in transfiguration and had for several minutes been daydreaming with her head resting in her hand, and her gaze on the back of James Potter. The truth was that she had not heard the question.
Professor McGonagall looked at her with a questioned gaze.
Lily looked down. “Sorry, professor.” she muttered.
McGonagall asked another. Lily looked up and saw James looking at her.
James turned around grinning, but Lily didn’t see that. James was almost certain of why Lily could not answer the question. Himself leaned back and thought of last night.
He had taken Lily for a walk in the middle of the night, and she had loved it. At the end he had kissed Lily, she had kissed him back! And after the first kiss Lily had in a way invited him to kiss her he smiled even wider at this.
“Mr Potter!”
James shook himself. “Yes, professor?”
“I can see you know the answer since you’re smiling that wide?” Professor McGonagall looked at him over her glasses.
“****…” James muttered.
“Sorry?”
“Um…” James looked at the blackboard and guessed what the answer was. “If the people don’t know how powerful magic they are playing with, they can end up killing themselves?”
McGonagall looked at him, clearly impressed. “Yes, correct.”

Later James was back in the Head Dorm alone. The other boys had wanted do make some trouble, and James wanted to see Lily, so he had said that he had homework to do.
The portraithole swung open and Tess entered first, then Wendy and last Lily. They all looked at James.
“Why aren’t you out doing pranks with Sirius, Remus and Peter?” Tess asked.
“Didn’t feel like it.” James answered and looked at Lily.
“Are you ill?” Wendy asked with concern.
“Naah. Just had other things to do.”
“All right…” Tess said, and sat down in a couch with Wendy and Lily.
“Oh, by the way, James?” Lily asked
“Yes?” James answered and looked at Lily.
“Please, read the note there from Dumbledore. We have to go to a meeting tomorrow.”
“Sure.”
Tess and Wendy left after an hour, and left Lily and James alone. Lily got up and walked over to James, who stood up too. He put his arms around her, and kissed her soft at the lips. Lily couldn’t help her heart beating faster.
“I’ve missed you” She said when they broke apart.
“We haven’t been apart all day.”
“No, but we haven’t talked. I’ve missed that.”
“Me too…” He smiled slightly.

Sorry for nothing to happen, but i kind of wanted to show how things were after the kiss with their friends. Hope you don't hate me. Please post feedback. - Thanks smile.gif

Hey biggrin.gif
I could see in my feedback thread that most of you wondered why Lily and James didn’t tell their friends about them… I understand that, but it just came more natural to me that they didn’t tell at first. James wants to show how he has matured and can stop himself from just talking without thinking. And when it comes to Lily, she doesn’t know how her friends will react and therefore don’t say anything. She’s afraid. If you don’t like its okay, I just write what I find right. I’m sorry if you don’t like it. And don’t worry, their secret wont last very long wink.gif

Saturday morning came and Lily was ready for the weekend. She was in the bathroom drying her hair after had taken a shower. James stood with the back at her and shaved. Lily kept looking at him through the mirror she herself was looking in. Sometimes James looked at her and they both started smiling. Lily finished drying her hair and started to brush it. She suddenly felt James’s hand around her waist. He kissed her cheek once and stroked her hair.
“You’re beautiful. Did you know that?” James said.
Lily didn’t say anything, but blushed and smiled. She laid the brush on the sink and turned around. She could smell his aftershave, and thought it was a very good one.
“So are you.” She kissed him softly and let her two hands run through his hair.
James grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer.
After five minutes of snogging they pushed apart and looked at each other. Lily noticed how much she loved his eyes. There was something different about them. She used to think they had been flirty and playing in the look, but they seamed more loving and caring now.
“Don’t you think it’s time to go down to breakfast?” James asked. “You’re friends are probably looking for you when you are this late.”
“So does you’re friends I guess.”
“Naah… I use to sleep half an hour more. They’ll get surprised, and Padfoot is still sleeping.”
Lily wondered two seconds about who Padfoot was, but then remembered that it was what they called Sirius.
“Come with me down.”
Lily grabbed James’s hand and they walked down towards the Great Hall. When they stood outside and were about to go inside Lily let go of James’s hand. He seamed to understand, and didn’t mind either.
“Morning you two.” Tess greeted when they came over there and sat.
Remus and Peter sat with them too.
“Morning.” Lily said and smiled.
She sat down next to Tess and James let himself slide under the table and sat down next to Remus on the other side.
“You know what Lily?” Tess asked.
Lily didn’t so she shook her head.
“Tess not again!” Wendy signed.
“Just let her hear!” Tess said and looked at Lily. “Okay… I heard from Lina that Helen had told her that Michael had been told from Ruth that Todd from Ravenclaw likes you!”
Lily shook her head. All those names didn’t make any bell ring in her head.
“Who are all these people?” She finally asked.
“Helen and Michael are in our year in Hufflepuff and Ruth and Todd are in sixth year. Ravenclaw.”
Lily shook her head once more. “And you said at last? I didn’t catch it all with those names.”
“Well… Todd likes you!”
“So?”
“SO!? Lily, take the chance… You haven’t had a boyfriend in like forever!”
Lily looked at James. He looked down at his plate, but he didn’t seam to happy about the situation.
“I’m not interested.” Lily said at last.
“You’re always interested when someone likes you! You can’t just let it pass.”
Lily looked from left to the right. “I think I just did.”
James made a little snort down in the plate.
“What’s wrong with you?” Tess asked him. “You shouldn’t snort about others. You know how it feels when Lily turns one down.”
Tess didn’t say this to hurt James; she never did that on purpose. She just said what was on her mind, but he couldn’t help feel a little hurt.
Just in the same second Sirius entered and he started to kiss Tess, so James got up and let his fork hit the plate so hard that it smashed. He walked quickly out of the Great Hall.
Lily sat back and looked after him.
“I’m just going out to see how he’s doing.” She said and ran after James.
She swung the doors open and saw James sit on the stairs halfway up and looking depressed. Lily walked slowly up the stairs and sat down next to James.
“James you know Tess didn’t say that to hurt you.”
“Yeah. But it did.”
Lily took James’s hand and kissed it.
“You know I wouldn’t turn you down again.”
“It just reminded me about all those times…”
Lily actually felt sorry for James and the way she had behaved to him before.
“I’m sorry.”
James looked up at her. “You’re forgiven.”
Lily kissed him and they sat there together for a long time until the rest of the company came out of the Great Hall and they all headed towards the Head Dorm.

Monday morning, there was a lot of talk all over the school. Sirius quickly saw the reason for all the talk on the way to the Great hall. James knew already. He and Lily had last night placed notes up all over the school, which was about the Yule ball Sirius had heard of. James re-read it and smiled. The work he, Lily and the teachers had done was shown now.
“So, the ball will be on next Friday at seven. I can’t wait” Sirius said and smiled.
“Me neither.” James said while thinking. He liked the way things were between him and Lily. But he didn’t know if it was wise to go with her. None of them had told their friends about their relationship, and James kind of liked it in that way, but he didn’t know how Lily felt.
“I think I’ll ask Tess…” Said Sirius and made James come back to reality.
“Yeah. Good idea.” James agreed.
“You want to keep up with your tradition and ask Lily?” Sirius asked.
“Perhaps. I like the way things are between us at the moment.”
“Yeah or else, there’s at least the first half of the school, who would be thrilled to go with you.”
“Mmm… But I don’t want to go with some random person, who I don’t know, just to have one.” James said while the two of them made their way through the filled corridors.
“Good god! You’re beginning to sound almost like Moony, Prongs.” Sirius complained, and looked at some sixth year’s girls who passed them and smiled at James and Sirius, who both smiled back.
“Ask one of them?” Sirius suggested when they had passed.
“Naah. They’re too much. Girls who just want a boyfriend to be popular.”
“What’s wrong with you? You sound nothing like yourself!”
James didn’t response. Lily went past them in the corridor given him a smile. James turned around and looked after her; he loved the way her hair felt down her back.
Sirius looked behind and saw James’s gaze and signed “Then ask her out, if it has to be her. I’m almost given up on you!”
“Don’t do that. I would be SO lost with out you!” James said ironically.
“Exactly! You get my point!”

After the first class James ran up to the side of her and put something in Lily’s pocket, then ran forward towards the marauders. Lily pulled a note up from the pocket.
Be alone in the Head Dorm tonight at 8!
– James
Lily smiled at the note; perhaps he would invite her to the ball. Lily hid it when Tess and Wendy came from the behind. They started walking towards the Great Hall together.
“What’s up?” Wendy asked when she saw Lily’s look at her face.
“Nothing. I-I umm… there’s nothing” Lily stuttered.
“You have acted very strange lately.” Tess concluded. “Are you feeling well?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
“Okay” Wendy said but didn’t seam convinced.
“Todd asked if you were free tonight…” Tess suddenly said.
Lily looked at Tess. She had no idea what to say. James had just asked her to be in the dorm, and even if he hadn’t she would not go.
“I’m busy.”
Tess snorted. “With what? Being the object of James’s gaze? Come on, what can probably be so big that you wouldn’t go on a date?”
“I have an essay to write, and James and I have Head-duties.”
“But-”
“Just leave it, Tess! Okay?” Wendy signed.
“All right. I’ll tell him you’re not interested.” Tess showed the white of her eyes.
“Thank you Tess.”
Tess smiled at Lily. “Oh! Wanna hear the latest gossip I’ve just heard.” Lily and Wendy both nodded just to get it over. “Do you know that Lina and her Hufflepuff-boyfriend have broken up?” Tess asked.
“No. Is it true?” Lily said. “I thought they were so happy?”
“Happy? No, no!”
“They always seamed happy.” Wendy said.
“No. You know, Lina had never really liked him. She’s in love with the guy everyone, but Lily, is.”
“James Potter.” Wendy said and asked at the same time because it was so obvious who they were talking about.
“Yeah. And this time I think she’ll actually ask him out this time.” Tess went on.
“But she can’t do that!” Lily said suddenly.
“Why is that?” Wendy asked “It’s not like you want him.”
“No, but…”
“But what Lily?” Tess asked her.
Both Wendy and Tess had stopped and looked now at Lily. Lily didn’t want to tell them about that night with James, so the situation she had placed herself in was a little hard to do something about.
“Um…” she blinked a couple of times. “Why would she go out with a guy, who doesn’t even like her?”
“How can you know that James had not changed his mind?” Wendy asked.
“I hear stuff from the boys in the Dorm!”
Lily hit herself for not telling Tess and Wendy about James and her. Lily had never liked to lie or keeping big secrets, but something stopped her every time she was about to tell them.
“Right.”
Both Tess and Wendy looked very confused about their friend’s behaviour this day, and decided not to talk more about it.

Hey biggrin.gif
I red something in another Lily/James-fanfic, that made me realise exactly what makes me not wanting Lily and James to tell their friends. It was about every L/J-fic was being almost the same with the plot-line and eerything. And I don’t like having and making the same as everybody else. So keeping the relation ship a secret is one of the things that make mine different from the other L/J-fics. Like it or not.
And here’s the next chapter, it’s also the last that ends with only Lily and James knowing about them, so you don’t have to worry no more. Anyways… wink.gif

30
At 8 o’clock Lily waited alone in the Head Dorm. James was not there, and there had been no sign of him the last three hours. Suddenly the portraithole swung open and James jumped in.
“Hey! Sorry I’m late. Detention at Slughorn delayed.” He said a little out of breath.
“It’s okay.” Lily just said
He walked quickly over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. When he straightened his back he took his hand to his stomach.
“Didn’t get anything to eat earlier. Want to join me for dinner?” He asked and smiled.
“There’s no food in the Great Hall now, you know.”
“Doesn’t matter. Come with me.”
Very confused Lily took the hand he had offered and followed him.
James almost ran through the corridors. When they saw some fifth year’s Hufflepuffs Lily let go of James hand, but when they were out of sight he took her little, but warm hand in his own again. They walked through the Entrance Hall and down some stairs. He stopped at a big painting of some fruits. He tickled the pear and a doorknob appeared. Lily just looked and wondered what was behind the painting. James had still not said anything, but when he opened the door he almost nodded at Lily to make her go first. Lily stopped as soon as she had gotten inside and James had to push her a bit to make room for himself.
Five houseelves had surrounded them and kept asking them if they wanted anything to eat.
“Dinner for two” James said and all the elves trotted away to make them food.
“James, I’m not that hungry.” Lily protested.
“Just sit with me then.” James said.
He walked her to one corner of the kitchen and waved with his wand. A round table with a read tablecloth and a single candlelight at appeared. Once more wave later two chairs had appeared too. James pulled the one chair out as an allusion for Lily to take the seat. She sat and James pushed the chair in again. He sat on the other chair across the table.
Lily looked around “Is this the-?”
“Kitchen, yeah.” He answered her before she had finished the question.
“How did you know..?”
“Sirius and I discovered it in the first year, and have used it ever since.”
Two plates with warm steaming food were placed on the tables in front of them.
“So this is how you always have food and snacks when there have been a party in the Gryffindor tower!”
James grinned “Yeah…”

After the dinner, James and Lily went back to the Head Dorm.
“I can’t believe that you have never told me all this” Lily said while taking seat in the couch.
James sat beside her. “You never asked.”
“I have secrets too, you know!” Lily sat with a twinkle in her eyes.
“What?” James asked.
Lily was silent
“Tell me?” He begged.
“Nope.”
“You little!” He said and began tickling her.
“James, stop!” She exclaimed between her laughs.
He stopped, and the two of them just looked at each other. Lily lifted her head and kissed James. James kissed her back. The kiss went deeper and James held Lily around her waist and dragged her up at his lap. Lily let her hands slide up around James neck when she felt James tongue against hers.
Like this they sat in so long time that it seamed like forever to Lily, and when they parted at last she laid on top of James. James dragged himself a little up so Lily’s head now were resting at his chest. She could hear his heart beat, it beat very fast, but it slowly became slower. She felt asleep to the sound of James heart.
James looked down at Lily. She had fallen asleep and he didn’t want to wake her up, so he himself felt asleep at the couch with his arms around Lily, and hers around him.

Lily was on the way to the library to find a book. It was Friday and James had still not asked her to the ball, even thought there only was a week to it. She had wondered why, and if he even wanted to go with her.
“…you have to help me with this one too…”
“Do you have a date for the ball?”
“I could go with you!”
Lily looked through the bookshelves and saw a lot of girls stand in a ring around a boy with messy black hair, who had his back at her. The boy turned a little bit and Lily saw it was James? He smiled at the girls, who spoke all at once.
“And then we could go to Hogsmeade. Just you and me!” A blonde girl with lots of makeup said and touched him at the cheek.
“Calm down girls.” James said “There’s enough James to all of you.”
“Okay. But tell me about the ball right?” A dark-haired girl from sixth year said. And they all walked away, giggling and smiling at each other.
James looked after them and slowly shook his head, then walked the other way and just around a bookshelf where he came to stand face to face with Lily.
“’Enough James to all of you’?” She said between her teeth. Her arms were crossed and a very angry look was at her face.
James was speechless and just looked into Lily’s face. Then he pulled himself up “I was just trying to make them go away.”
“I didn’t look like that. You enjoyed that!”
“What could I have done?” James asked. He knew it was hard to make Lily soft, but he had to try his very best.
“Said ‘No, I can’t go with you to the ball, I have a date’.”
“Then who would that be I should go with?”
“Me!” Lily almost yelled and pointed at herself.
“No one knows we’re dating.” James exclaimed very loud.
“No, but does it matter? If you cared about me, you would go with me!” Lily said in a matter of fact way.
“I care about you.”
“It doesn’t look so.”
“But I do! And if it made you happy, I would show our relationship to the whole world right now.” James said, his voice was very low now and he looked at Lily.
“Then why do we keep it as a secret?” Lily asked very silently, not breaking the eye contact. A long pause followed that question. Then James took a deep breath.
“I… I like the peace we have when no one knows about us, it’s our secret, and it’s the best secret I have ever had. We can be ourselves, and not be all over each other al the time. I like it in that way. And I can be more relaxed. I don’t need to be that person I am when I’m with the boys: that guy who’s hexing everyone and thinks he’s better than everyone. I really like that.” James had spoken very honest and the two of them just looked at each other. He could see Lily had gone soft at the last words; she even smiled a little bit. He raised her head a little with his hand and kissed her soft at the lips, and surprisingly she kissed him back. They broke apart and James looked her into the eyes.
“I’m sorry.” He said and kissed her again.
“It’s okay.”
Lily put her arms around James as they kissed again. This time they didn’t separate, and the kiss went deep. James pushed Lily slightly against the bookshelf as, while he was holding around her waist, and she around his neck. They were in their own world, and no one or nothing could reach them. Nothing but…
“I knew it!”
James and Lily broke apart and saw Sirius, Remus and Peter looking at them. Peter mouth was slightly open and Sirius had a triumphed look at his face. Remus was unreadable.
“Oh, hi guys!” James tried to sound normal, but it didn’t work that well and his voice became a little high.
He looked down at Lily, who had blushed very much, and avoided Sirius, Remus and Peter’s gazes.
“Perhaps I should go…” She said and walked past the three boys, still looking down.
James looked after her “Bye.”
Remus finally shook himself up “How?” He only managed to say.
“Didn’t she hate you?” Peter followed.
“She doesn’t anymore.” James said and smiled, then looked at Remus “And it was the night where I took her out at night.”
“You said that nothing happened.” Peter said.
“Yeah. But there did. Just wanted to see how Lily reacted on it all.”
Peter smiled. “I’m glad you’re together.”
“Me too. I just can’t believe she finally gave in.” Remus said at last
“Yeah, but she did.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Sirius asked, looking hurt.
James looked at Sirius for a while. “I’m not sure…I just… Well, I was scared about blowing it all up. This is what I have been waiting for, for more than six years, and I just wanted to be sure it just wouldn’t come to an end after a week or so.”
“You still should have told me.” Sirius said. “But I’m glad it finally became you two. We have been waiting for it too you know!”
“Yeah.” Remus gave him right. “And you owe me a galleon because of it, Sirius.” He added.
“Damn!”
“You have been betting on this?” James asked
Sirius looked at James. “Perhaps…” He said slowly.
“How could you?”
“Hey! You hid your relation ship with Lily from us. That makes us even!” Sirius said and pointed at James.
He grinned at Sirius. “Okay then!”

The same night James asked Lily if she wanted to go to the ball with him. She said yes. Sirius, Remus and Peter had not spread the news about James and Lily, but kept quite. Lily’s best friends still didn’t knew anything, but were not shocked when Lily told them the day after that James had asked her to the ball.
“Of course he did! When has he ever missed a chance to ask you out?” Tess said when Lily had told them.
“I said yes.” Lily said and looked down to avoid her gaze.
“You said WHAT?” Tess almost yelled.
“I…I said yes.” She said and looked up “And I’m not regretting it!”
“But HOW?” Tess said, not capable to understand what she had just heard.
Wendy on the other hand, seemed to be shocked. She sat in her armchair and looked at Lily with her mouth slightly open.
“James seems more mature this year,” Lily took a deep breath before continuing “and I kind of like him.”
“You-you-you LIKE him?” Tess stuttered.
“Yes. And the last week’s time we… umm… We kind of have been dating.” Lily said in one breath and very quickly.
Tess fell of her chair at the last sentence. “It’s just getting worse and worse.” she muttered.
Lily looked at Wendy who had still not talked. Her mouth was even more open now, and her eyes had grown a lot bigger.
“Wendy, please say something?” Lily begged her.
Silence followed.
“It’s a joke isn’t it?” She finally managed to say.
“Nope.” Lily said
“I don’t believe you. You hated him!”
“Well, I never really hated him…” Lily tried.
“Who did you lose a bet to?” Tess asked.
“No one! We’re just two people who happen to like each other.”
And in that second James came through the portraithole.
“Hey girls!” He said and smiled.
“Are you and Lily dating?” Tess said. She sat on the floor with her arms on the table.
“You know what?” James said and looked at the portrait whole like there was something wrong with it. “I think this is the wrong room I had entered!” James said at last, while he quickly shrugged his shoulders and then was on his way out again.
“James?” Lily asked silent and begging.
“Lily.” he said back, his one foot still was halfway through the portraithole, but he had stopped. He looked into the ceiling. “Yes, we are.”
Tess’s arm, which had rested at the table, slipped over the edge and she tumbled around. “No.” She said from the floor.
“Yes” Lily said and walked over to James and gave him a hug. She looked at her friends with a please-try-to-understand-look at her face and James’s arms around her waist.
“Wow.” Wendy signed.
“Yeah.” Tess’s voice was heard from the floor.
James leaned down to Lily’s ear. “I really have to go. I promised Padfoot to meet him in the library.”
“It’s okay. I can handle them.” Lily said, and James kissed her.
When James had left, Wendy looked down at Tess “She let him kiss her. She really did.”
“I know. I saw it.” Tess said looking into the ceiling with big eyes.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.” Lily said and looked at them both. “I was afraid of how you would react.”
Tess and Wendy both accepted Lily’s apologize, and concluded that James was the reason that Lily had been so happy the last week.

This chapter is mostly a fill in. Just something before it goes wild at the ball..

It became Wednesday and still no one but James and Lily’s best friends knew about them. James had been asked by at least ten girls if he wanted to go with them, but he turned them all down. And among all the girls the only thing they talked about was who this lucky girl was, and why she was so stupid, because she didn’t want to tell that she was the one who was going with James.
“It’s actually kind of funny.” Tess giggled a day when the girls were in the Head Dorm. “Everyone is talking about you, Lily, and they don’t know it’s you.”
“I didn’t say yes to go with James to be the biggest subject in the corridors. I’m going because I like him!” Lily said, and then giggled. “But it’s kind of funny what they are saying about me.”
“Don’t enjoy it too much.” A deep voice was heard from the portraithole. Lily looked and saw all the marauders came through. James smiled at her “And don’t let the talk make you snooty.”
“I won’t.” Lily said and let James kiss her cheek.
“So, what have you been up to?” Wendy asked them.
“Err… nothing” Remus answered. “We actually just came here to pick up some stuff.”
“I’ll go get them.” James said and ran into his bedroom and came back with his satchel. ”Let’s go.”
Then James, Remus and Peter stood at the portraithole and waited for Sirius, who had to finish his making out with Tess.
“Padfoot!” James said impatient.
Sirius broke of with Tess “Coming” and hurried after them.
“What do you thing they are up to?” Lily asked
“Trouble.” Wendy answered prompt.
“How can you be so sure?”
“Well, you could hear it at Remus’s answer when I asked him. And then…well, it is the marauders we’re talking about.”
Lily laughed. “You’re right.”
James was back in the Head Dorm five minutes before they had to patrol the corridors. It became a quite night and at eleven nothing had happened yet.
“Oh my, it’s do boring today.” Lily said.
“You would rather fight bad guys and spooky creatures?” James asked and looked at her.
“I don’t know. I just want something interesting to happen.”
“I can come up with something that can make your night more interesting.” James said and leaned into Lily and kissed her softly.
“We have corridors to patrol.”
“Yeah. But nothing’s happening, so I’m just making the night more interesting.”
“Okay!” Lily said and put her hands around James neck and kissed him.
James pushed Lily slightly up against the wall and let his hands fall to her waist. He felt how Lily’s one hand ran through his hair to messy it.
“…but I told him I knew nothing about it. I don’t know if he believe in me or-”
Lily and James had broken apart when they heard voices and looked at two Slytherins that had just come around the corner. James recognized the one of them as Sirius’s little brother, Regulus. The other one was his cousin, Bellatrix. Both James and Lily had crossed their arms and looked at the two Slytherins.
“Well, well, well. Out of beds after hours.” James said. “That could easily cost you a detention or five.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Bellatrix hissed.
“Oh, yes we would.” Lily said.
“Don’t you dare talk to me again, you filthy little mudblood!”
Lily blinked; she was clearly taken back by the rudeness. “Detention and eighty points from Slytherin.” Lily said between her tenths.
Bellatrix opened her mouth to protest in anger, but Lily stopped her.
“And eighty more if you say one more word!”
There was silence.
James took over. “We’ll talk to Slughorn about your detention. Now off to bed before you’re getting one more.”
James and Lily followed them back to the dungeons before going back to their patrolling. Lily was sure she heard Bellatrix mutter ‘How dare that filthy little mudblood!’ before they were gone, but she chose to ignore it.

Friday evening had come. Lily had joined the seven year’s girls in the Gryffindor tower to get ready. She didn’t want James around when she did, and found it more appropriate to meet him in the Entrance Hall.
“Lily?”
“Yeah?” Lily looked up at Wendy who had called.
“Can you help me with me hair? The others are busy.”
“Sure” Lily said and began helping Wendy.
“So,” Alice’s voice came from her bed. “Who are you going with?”
None of he girls answered.
“Sirius.” Tess said after a long pause.
“I knew that.” Alice said and smiled. “But what about you Wendy?”
“Err…”
“Come on, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about!” Lina interrupted.
“I kind of...” Wendy began then slowed down as she said the next “said yes to go with Remus.”
“Lupin?” Lina asked from the mirror in the corner.
“Yes.” Wendy blushed.
“What about yourself?” Lily asked Alice. She finished the last curls at Wendy and straightened up.
“I’m not going with anyone.” Alice answered.
“Why?”
“Well, it’s kind of because I have Frank, but he took his NEWTs last year, so he’s busy. And I don’t want to go with anyone but him.” Alice stood up from her bed and walked over to the mirror and brushed her hair.
“Aww, that’s sweet.” Lily said to her and smiled. “Lina?”
“She came too late to go with the boy she wanted.” Alice teased Lina with a smile.
“Shut up!”
“Who?” Lily asked.
“Guess twice.” Alice said, but continued when Lily didn’t response. “James Potter of course.”
Lily looked at Lina “Oh. You asked him?”
“Yeah, yeah! Don’t feel sorry for me. But I would like to know who he is going with…”
“Why?” Lily asked, trying to sound indifferent.
Lina didn’t answer at first, but put a very grim face on. “She can’t be nothing but some girl who just wants him because he’s popular.
Lily didn’t answer. The words hurt. Was this what people would think of her if they knew.
“So Lily,” Alice said to break the uncomfortable silence which had come “Who are you going with?”
“Umm…” Lily looked at her “Doesn’t matter.”
“Tell us!” Alice said grinning.
Tess and Wendy both looked down. They didn’t want to reveal that they knew who Lily was going with.
“No.”
Alice looked at her, and so did all the others too. They all had lived with Lily for the first six years in Hogwarts, and if Lily didn’t want to tell anything, they would not get to know.
“Oh, you’re so boring.” Lina signed.

James was waiting for Lily in the Entrance Hall. He looked up the stairs, some girls came down, but none of them were Lily. He looked nervously at Sirius. He didn’t seam nervous, but of course, he didn’t have to go with a girl no one knew he was dating. Remus too seamed a little nervous.
“Calm down, Prongs.” Sirius said. “There’s no need to be nervous.”
“Yes, there is! What if I mess things totally up?” James asked and looked up the stairs once more.
“You, don’t.” Sirius said simple. “Look how good you have behaved all year.”
“Year, but its nights like these I mess up!”
“Just be yourself. Then it all will work itself” Sirius patted him cheering on the back. “Oh, look. There they come!”
James looked up and saw the five Gryffindor girls come down the stairs. His eyes felt at Lily, she looked stunning. She had curled her hair and it was loose. Her dress was dark green, and it matched her green eyes. Lily smiled nervously when she saw James and he smiled back. He clapped his hands together and felt how sweaty they had become. He quickly wiped them in his robes. Suddenly Lily stood in front of him.
He lifted her hand and kissed it. She blushed.
“You look beautiful.” He said.
“You too.” Her voice were very low, but he could clearly hear it.
“Should we go inside?”
“Yeah…”
James noticed, as he and Lily walked toward the Great Hall that a lot of girls were looking at them. Lily seamed to notice it too, because she looked down, and avoided all the gazes. James gave her hand a little squeeze to make sure she knew he was there. He was surprised when she gave him a squeeze back and looked up at him.
They had reached a table and sat down. Shortly after Sirius, Remus, Peter, Tess and Wendy came and sat down too.
“So. Is it tonight you will come out as a couple?” Sirius asked.
Lily and James looked at each other,
“Well,” James said then “we actually haven’t thought of that.”
“We just want to be ourselves.” Lily added.
“Yep! Sirius, will you help me get something to drink?” James stood up and waited for Sirius who followed up to the table with drinks on.
“Ha! Good luck with that.” Tess said and leaned closer to Lily. “Look around. All the girls are looking at you. They envy you.”
“Perhaps. But they don’t dare to do anything.”

36
It had become later at the night, and music had started to play.
“Wanna dance?” James asked Lily suddenly.
Lily looked around. “Sure, why not?” She grabbed the hand James offered and they went together out at the dance floor.
James swung Lily around as they started to dance.
He noticed that there wasn’t many there were dancing yet, and suddenly found it a little bit awkward with all the girls staring at them. He quickly looked into Lily’s eyes to make himself feel more relaxed. How he loved those eyes. Slowly he felt his heart beat a little slower, now that he was only seeing Lily’s eyes.
The music had stopped, but James had not noticed before Lily dragged him down at the table again. Remus and Wendy sat at the table and talked. Sirius, Peter and Tess were gone.
“Where’re Wormtail, Padfoot and Tess?” James asked
“Um… Padfoot is over there, kissing a girl.” Remus answered and pointed to a corner. “I kind of hope its Tess…”
“It is Tess.” Wendy cut him off.
“It was hard to se because of the hands,” Remus apologized, then continued “And Wormtail said he had something to do.”
“What?” James asked
“Just something. He was a little weird when he said it.”
“All right.”
“OH, James! This song is soo good!” Lily said and grabbed James’s hand and dragged him onto the dance floor.
James didn’t think the song was good but he didn’t resist. After the song Lily had liked, a much slower song came and James pulled Lily closer to him. She put her hands around his neck and his were around her waist. Lily’s head leaned to his chest, and listen to the sound of his heart which she really loved.
When the song stopped none of the broke apart until a voice was heard behind Lily.
“Do you mind if I could have a dance?” A girl asked.
Lily turned around and saw Lina. Lina’s jaw dropped at the sight of Lily.
“No, not at all.” Lily said and stepped away. She walked down to Wendy and Remus and sat so she could see James and Lina. “How dare she ask him?” Lily raged.
“Sweetie.” Wendy begun and took Lily’s hand. “She doesn’t know you are dating, so she can ask him all that she wants.”
“Hmpf!” Lily leaned back and kept looking at James and Lina.
James headed towards Lily when the song ended. Lina stood back and looked like one, who had smelled to a very bad-smelling shoe.
“Let’s go outside.” James whispered to Lily. “Don’t want that to happen again.”
He grabbed Lily’s hand and they went side by side outside. They found a bench and sat there, looking at the starts in silence and Lily’s head resting on James’s shoulder. After some Lily looked up into James’s eyes, which looked down at her. He kissed Lily softly at the lips. Slowly they both deepened the kiss.

37
The next morning Lily woke up and had a very weird feeling in her stomach. She couldn’t place it, but as she reached the Great Hall it grew bigger and bigger. When she entered, she felt almost every eye in there fall on her. Her heart was beating very fast as she walked through the tables that was before the Gryffindor table. She sat between James and Tess.
“Why are they all looking at me?” Lily asked Tess.
“Well, it seams like someone saw you and James making out outside last night. And now, almost the whole school knows about it. And you actually went to the ball with one of the most attracted guys, so it’s no wonder, really.”
Lily blushed, so James pus his arm around her.
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about Lily.” He said and kissed her at the forehead.
“No, perhaps.” Lily looked around and saw some Hufflepuff girls stick their heads together and look at her. “But I don’t like this.”
“It’s okay.” James said “I’m here.”
Lily smiled. How could she ever have hated that boy who sat beside him? Or even though that he would hurt him on purpose? He was really sweet.
“Is there anything wrong?” Wendy asked as she saw Lily’s face.
“Oh, it was just…” Lily said and shook her head. “Nothing.” She looked at James again. He looked so cute when he just sat and looked at her
“Uh!” Tess suddenly exclaimed. “You know what I have just realised?”
All the others looked at her and shook their heads.
“It’s Christmas Holiday now.” She smiled as she said the last.
“You’re a genius!” Wendy exclaimed ironical.
“You don’t need to tell me that.” Tess said and began eating.
James looked down at Lily, and saw her face.
“Is there anything wrong?” He asked.
Lily had remembered that she had to go home this day, because she had to spend her Christmas at home. “I have to go home today.”
“Why?” James asked.
“My mom wants me to be home for Christmas.” She looked down. “I don’t want to leave you guys.”
“Don’t worry.” Tess said and took her hand. “It’s not like we’ll die without you.”
“No, but I wanted to stay here. Oh, well. I’m going up to pack.”
“I’ll go with you.” James said and followed her.
It took very long time for Lily to pack, mostly because she and James spent the most of the time kissing or just hold around each other.
“It’s not like I’ll be gone forever.” Lily said as James gave her the fifth long hug.
“No, but I’ll miss you every second.”

Hey smile.gif
Sorry the story hasn’t been updated for a few days, but I have been so busy because someone from my work got sick and I had to be there a lot more than I though. Oh well. Back to the story. I know a lot of you would love to read about the holydays but I had nothing exciting that could happen home at Lily, and I didn’t like Lina, and therefore she also went home in the holydays and could hit on James. To make a long story short: I skipped writing about the holydays. Happy reading biggrin.gif

38
James sat in the Head Dorm alone, looking out the window. There were two days to school would begin again, and Lily would be arriving this day. He didn’t slept much this night, he had had several nightmares and everyone had been worse than the previously. He couldn’t remember how long he had sat there, but he must have fallen asleep, because suddenly Lily came through the portraithole and James woke up. She looked beautiful with her green scarf, rose cheeks and snow in her hair.
“Why are you sitting in the windowsill?” She asked.
“Um.” James just said. He thought it would sound a little desperate to say that he had sat there since 10 o’clock, which was three hours ago.
“Were you looking for me?”
“Perhaps.”
“Aw! You’re so sweet!” She walked over to the windowsill and kissed him.
“Had a nice Christmas?” He asked as they broke apart.
“It was okay. Thanks for the present. It is so beautiful!” She answered.
James noticed she wore the necklace he had bought her. He had had very big problems to find something for, as they only had been together for about three weeks. But he had finally found a perfect necklace with a big emerald, which matched her eyes perfect. He didn’t have to think twice, it was just it!
“I’m glad you liked it.” Jams said “And I really appreciate your present too.”
Lily smiled. “I’ll just unpack, if that’s okay.”
“Of course.” James said. When Lily had walked into her room James went over to the couch and sat down. He leaned back and was once more about to fall asleep. He woke a little up again as Lily came and sat on him.
“Why are you so tired?”
“Don’t know. Just didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Why? Nightmares?”
James had had nightmares. It was the same dream that had hunted him over and over again. It had been the same scene with a man and his wife getting killed, and then their son had been left alone back in the world. It was not that bad a nightmare itself, but James had somehow felt connected to the family, and he had felt very sorry for them and their son who didn’t have his parents anymore.
“Yes.” James didn’t feel like telling Lily about the dreams, and she seamed to understand.
“Here, lay down.” She moved off him so he could lie down.
James didn’t want to argue about it, so he lay down. Shortly after he could feel Lily’s fingers run through his hair. It had a very reassuring effect at him, and he was soon asleep.

Again it’s short, but please post feedback anyways.

39
The first day after the holidays had come. James and Lily walked down towards the Great Hall together, hand in hand. Lily noticed that she didn’t receive many smiles at the way down. The most girls scowled at her, only a few smiled. It came very clear to Lily, who had liked James and who had not. She didn’t feel comfortable at those thoughts and tried to push them away. It didn’t succeed.
James had noticed her tension and stopped her outside the Great Hall.
“Is there anything wrong?” He asked.
“Er…” Lily began “It’s just all those girls. They’re staring at me!”
“Oh, Lily not again!” James exclaimed.
“I just don’t feel comfortable with it.”
Lily had never been in a situation like this. It was not because she didn’t like James, but she hated when people looked at her and was judging her for something.
“Then just pretend they’re not there.” He said.
“I’ll try.”
“Good.” James smiled and kissed her quickly. “Let’s go inside.”
James took Lily’s hand and walked inside.
As they walked past the tables to the Gryffindor table Lily fastened her footsteps without really realising it. James almost had to run after her.
“Good morning lovebirds!” Tess exclaimed and smiled as they sat at the table.
James and Lily sat down without a word. Both took some toast and began eating.

After breakfast they all went to charms, James and Sirius sat at a table in the back of the class behind Remus and Peter.
They begun practising the Protean Charm, but after short time it begun to be boring to James, and he started to make Peters book fly into the air and do somersaults every time Peter tried to cast the charm at it itself. Lily and Wendy at the table beside him had a very good laugh at this. Every time they book flew higher and with more impressing somersaults they had a harder time to suppress their laughter, and Peter’s face applied the finishing touch at the view.
At last Sirius placed his elbow just below James ribs.
“Cut it out, will you.” He said irritably.
“If you insist” James said and returned to his books with his wand. He looked at Lily who smiled and ran a hand through his hair.
After class James was heading towards the library with the Marauders when suddenly someone grabbed him around the waist and dragged him inside a classroom. For a second he was about to draw his wand until he saw it was just Lily.
“God, Lily. You scared me there.”
“I know. It was kind of the idea with it.”
Lily got up on her toes and kissed James lightly. He kissed her back for some seconds before pulling apart.
“I though you didn’t like this in public.” He said.
“I don’t. But there’s no one here.” Lily said and kissed James a little more passionate.
James grinned as they pulled apart. “You’re so right.”
“What are you dong tonight?”
“Nothi-… Oh, I have plans with the guys.”
Lily looked disappointed. “For how long?”
“Most of the night. Sorry.”
Lily signed. “It’s okay. So we can make use of time now then?”
James grinned. “Yep!” He said and kissed Lily again.
Lily and James left the classroom half an hour later, grinning and still kissing.

Hey smile.gif
Okay this chapter is extreamly short ! But it is a build up for the next chapter which I think I'll post tomorrow.

40
“Wormtail! Prongs! Hurry up!” Sirius ran in front of James and Peter over the Hogwarts Grounds. It was night and the moonlight was the only that shone in the dark.
“Calm down!” James shouted and transformed into a stag, he ran past Sirius, who shortly after had transformed into a black dog.
They ran towards the Whomping Willow, and waited for Peter. Suddenly a small rat ran through the grass towards the Willow and pushed one of its roots. They al disappeared under the three, long time after they came up, accompanied by a werewolf. The four of them ran into the Dark Forest and disappeared.
Lily fell back into the chair and looked up to the ceiling. She could not believe what she had just seen. James turning into a stag, Sirius turning into a big dog, and Peter turning into some small animal she could not see. And they were out at night, once more. They went somewhere and came back with a big wolf. No a werewolf, she corrected herself. And then they ran into the forest.
Lily’s blinked a couple of times. She had been very tired, but could not sleep. She had lain in her bed when she heard James go out of the portraithole. She respected that James could not tell her what they were doing, but it didn’t keep her from thinking of it. After ten minutes of thinking and no sleeping, she had walked out of her bedroom and sat in the window, there she had seen James, Sirius and Peter run across the plane.
She stood up and decided to go to bed. As she lay in her bed she decided to talk to James the following morning of what she had seen.

But nor James or any of the marauders where anywhere to be seen the next morning, and no one knew something. Lily actually got a little bit worried. Why had James not told her if he would be gone a whole day? And what was up with the stag-figure?
Lily had to wait to the following very early morning to get to know.

As I said SHORT. I hope you enjoyed reading and are looking forward to the next chapter, whichi I'm looking forward to post biggrin.gif Please leave your feedback here.

Lily opened her eyes suddenly as she heard the portraithole swing open. She ran out of her room and looked at James who had tumbled through the opening. He was now standing up and trying to pull his robes free from somewhere they had got stuck.
“Ahem!” Lily cleared her throat.
James turned around quick. “Hi, Lily.” He smiled.
“Where have you been?” She said, not smiling back.
“Here and there.”
“For more than 24 hours?”
“Well… yeah.”
“James, you didn’t come for any classes yesterday. Not you, nor Sirius, Remus or Peter. And I saw you!”
“You what?”
“Last night You, Sirius and Peter ran down the grounds and turned into animals!”
“You must have been dreaming” James said and tried to smile while he shrugged.
“No.”
“You must have. Because that’s not possible. It’s-”
“JAMES JONATHAN POTTER, DON’T YOU LIE TO ME!”
James walked a footstep backwards. He knew when Lily used his father’s name, she was very mad. She did one more time in the middle of their sixth year and James had actually been afraid if Lily would hit him. He opened his mouth, trying to speak, but couldn’t.
“So,” Lily’s voice had fallen down again to a sweet innocent voice. “will you tell me where you were and what I saw?”
James signed and closed his eyes. “Yes.” He said and opened his eyes and looked at Lily for a long time. “We were in the Dark Forrest with Remus.”
“In the night? And unprotected?”
“Yes, but that doesn’t matter.”
“Hmm, okay. And what was it I saw?”
James moved a little nervous, there was no way he could get out of it.
“James!” Lily said in a very deadly tone.
“You need to sit down.” Ha finally said, he knew there were no turning back now that Lily had seen them. He pointed at a chair and Lily sat down.
James took a deep breath and continued “I’m an Animagus. Well, Sirius, Peter and I are.”
Lily’s jaw dropped. “What?” She whispered.
“We’re Animaguses. We became it in our fifth yeah. - Lily, you must promise me not to tell this to anyone. Not even Tess or Wendy! Okay?” Lily nodded slowly. “Good.”
Lily just looked at James and didn’t move. James had taken her hand in his, and stroked it softly.
“Lily?” James asked, and Lily blinked a couple of times.
“You’re an Animagus?”
“Yes.”
“And so are Sirius and Peter?”
“Yes.”
“Are you registered?”
“No”
“No one but you knows about it?”
“No, Dumbledore and the teachers know too.”
“Why have you not told me?”
“We didn’t want others to know, because it’s illegal –“
“You’re damn right it’s illegal! You know why?! Because, think how you can misuse these powers. And you can die of it! And you’re not even registered!” Lily was not mad, well, not mad because they had become Animagus, but because James had not told her and because she realised what danger he had been in when they did what they had to do to become Animagus.
“Lily, please try to understand.”
“What is there to understand? James, I thought we could tell each other everything.”
“Yeah, but –“
“And WHY did you even become Animagus?” she interrupted.
“You want us to not have any secrets?” James asked and Lily nodded. “Okay, but nothing, and I repeat: nothing, I say now, must ever leave this room!”
“Okay.”
“We became Animagus because…” James took a deep breath “Because Remus is as a werewolf.”
“WHAT?!”
“Remus is a werewolf” James repeated. “And we did it because we could be at his side and support him at full moon. He didn’t feel well when we found out about it, but we just came closer to each other by knowing it, and we wanted to let him know that we would always be there for him. He’s our friend, and he means the world to us, so we became Animagus in our fifth year, so we could be with him… There. I told you everything now.”
James looked at Lily; her eyes shinned even brighter and she looked touched.
“You did it for him?” Her voice was almost a whisper and it sounded touched too.
“Yeah.” James looked down; he didn’t feel good about letting Lily know all this.
“You’re so sweet!” She suddenly exclaimed. “I can’t believe I have always though you didn’t care for others. And now it seams that it’s what you do the most.”
James looked up. He could not believe what Lily had just said.
“So you’re not mad anymore?”
She shook her head, and dried a small tear away.
Jams kissed her softly, and somehow Lily thought that their relationship had grown much stronger the last five minutes.

42
Lily had agreed to try to sleep, but she couldn’t. Everything James had told her didn’t seam to want to leave her. James had become an Animagus together with Sirius and Peter, and Remus was a werewolf. Finally she got up.
Lily met with Tess and Wendy in the Great Hall.
“I’m so glad it is Friday today!” Tess exclaimed and yawned.
“Yeah, just Arithmancy and Herbology.” Lily said.
“Care of Magical Creatures.” Wendy said.
“Yes, but you don’t have Arithmancy then”
Later that day after classes Lily, Tess and Wendy sat at the library again and made homework. Lily hadn’t seen James all day.
“Lily you should hear the way Lina talks about you in our dorm.” Tess said suddenly.
“What?” Lily hadn’t heard the whole of what Tess said.
“Lina. She can’t stop talking about you. Even Alice thinks it’s very annoying.”
“Just let her. It’s not my problem.” Lily shrugged her shoulders.
“So you’re not mad?” Wendy asked.
“No, I have other things to worry about than just a girl saying bad things about me.”
If had been a normal day, Lily would have cared, but it wasn’t. She had other things to think about
“But you care about people looking at you?” Tess smirked.
“It’s something totally different!”
“No it isn’t”
“Yes it is.” Lily considered the case as closed and Tess and Wendy noticed and didn’t talk more about it. Lily heard someone come and looked up at a tall boy; James!
He walked over to Lily. “Can I talk with you?” He asked very nervous.
“Sure.” She said and stood up, and walked behind him to out of the library.
James looked around to make sure there was no one else, when they were out. “Lily. I have your word on that you won’t tell Tess and Wendy about me, nor Sirius, Remus or Peter, right?”
Lily looked at James in surprise. “Of course! Did you actually think I would tell something you had told me not to tell to Tess and Wendy?
“No. I just wanted to be sure.” He kissed her at the forehead. “And we don’t tell Sirius, Remus or Peter. Okay?”
“Sure…” Lily looked at him. “The animals you become… That’ you reason for your nicknames isn’t it?”
James nodded. “Yeah, you’re smarter than I thought.”
“So you’re Prongs because… you’re a stag. Sirius is a dog; Padfood, and Remus a Werewolf; Moony, because of the moon. But what about Peter?”
“He’s rat. Wormtail.”
“You don’t know how much time we girls have spend talking about that, don’t you?”
“Probably not.” James said and grinned at Lily.
He scratched himself at the back and Lily stopped smiling. She looked at James in a thinking way.
“That scar on you back… There was never some ‘accident with some animal in Care of Magical Creatures’, was there? It was Remus, right?”
James looked impressed at Lily. “Yes it was…”
“Oh my…” Lily said and signed.
“Don’t worry. He couldn’t hurt me badly when I’m an Animagus.”
“No, but still… Well, I’m just glad you’re not hurt now. And I forgot to ask you last night; where were you yesterday? I mean, it’s only in the night he’s a… a werewolf.”
“Yeah… Sirius and I lost control of Remus and he almost ate Peter and after that he kind of ran away. When we found him it was early morning and we were several hours away from the school and tiered. We figured that we could skip a day.”
Lily slowly nodded her head. “I’m glad you’re back now.” She said at last.
“Me too.”
James smiled down at Lily who smiled back up at him. There were a couple of minutes of silence.
“Where have you been all day?” Lily asked. “I haven’t seen you.”
“I have been busy.” He said and looked down.
Lily counted on that it was something which was against the rules and found she didn’t really care at the moment, just like with Lina. She had other things on her mind.

In the end of January the snow had still not melted away. James and Sirius were outside in the deep snow and looked for something to kill their time. Suddenly they saw Snape coming out of the Dark Forest. They quickly looked at each other before turning their gazes back to Snape.
“What do you think he was doing in there?” Sirius asked James.
“Don’t know.” James said and shrugged his shoulders. Then smirked. “But doesn’t he deserve a little snow?”
“But, what do I hear the Head Boy say?” Sirius said with false reprimand, but already making a snowball.
James too had made four.
As Snape was right in front of them and Sirius waved his wand over his six snowballs, James did the same. Just about thirteen snowballs raised from the ground and flew slowly after Snape and when they only were three feet from the back of his neck they gained on speed and smacked on the same time against his head. Snape was not ready for the attack and flew forward into the snow. James and Sirius laughed laud of this. Snape was quick to get up with his face to James and Sirius. He had drawn his wand and flicked it before James ad Sirius could hex him again.
James felt something grab him in the collar and he flew twenty feet backwards and landed softly in the snow. He looked up and saw Snape’s wand fly up in the air and land in the snow behind him. Sirius pointed his wand at Snape and hit him with the Impediment curse. James had come to Sirius’s side and pointed at a stack of snow while muttering a spell. It lifted itself slowly and landed on top of Snape. James and Sirius walked over to the snow with Snape’s head peep out.
“So, how are you Snivellus? It has been so long.” James said. He conjured a feather and it tickled Snape and was very annoying.
“You filthy little bloodtraitor!” Snape raged.
“Is it me he’s talking to?” James asked Sirius “Or you?”
“Hard to tell, mate.” Sirius answered. “But I kind of hope it’s me, because then there will be a reason for this egg getting smashed.”
An egg dropped from Sirius’s hand and right into Snape’s hair.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Sirius said with false sympathy. “Here, let me help you.” He smudged the egg more into Snape’s greasy hair and got up.
“Let’s go back.” James said and went up towards the castle with Sirius right behind him.
They looked behind. They both knew they had been a little harsh to Snape, but he would be inside the castle within five minutes and neither James nor Sirius had done anything to Snape for weeks.

It was dark outside, it was not because it was that late, but February was darker than it used to be. Lily looked out of her window in her own room. She was extreamly bored. Suddenly she got up and walked over to James room, and opened the door slightly. James stood with the back at her looked for something in his trunk with his upper part of the body naked. Lily noticed the scar and felt her well-known feeling of pity inside her. She pushed it away and sneaked into the room and stood right behind James, he had still not noticed her. Lily studied his back, she really loved it. Suddenly James stopped looking for the thing in his trunk and spun around with a smile at his face. He kissed Lily, who was very surprised, but kissed him back.
“How did you know I was behind you?” She asked. “I didn’t make a sound.”
“I could smell your perfume.” He said and kissed her neck. “It’s so god.”
Lily blushed. She laid herself at the bed and studied James who once again was looking for the thing in his trunk.
At last he gave it up, and sat at the edge of the bed. James looked at her and her at him. James bent over and kissed Lily. She leaned back at his pillow, with James slightly leaned over her. She let her hand slide over his back. The kisses became very passionate and slowly James started to unbutton Lily’s shirt, but she pushed his hand away and pulled herself up.
“Um, James. I’m not sure I’m ready for this.” She said very nervous and tried not to make it too awkward.
Very surprisingly to Lily, James smiled wide.
“I didn’t think so either…” He said, still smiling. “That’s what makes you different from other girls. That’s one of those things I like about you. You’re not that easy.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Actually: I would have been a little disappointed if you had let me.”
Lily smiled and kissed him “Thanks for understanding.”
She was glad James felt this way, if not, it could have been awkward.
They kissed for a little longer, after that they just laid with the arms around each other.
Lily fell asleep in James bed just by his side.

“We know we’re better than them!” James’s excited voice rang over the Gryffindor quidditch team, in the changing room before the match against Hufflepuff. He looked at his players: Sirius and Michael, the beaters; his keeper Henrietta; his two fellow chasers Maja and Pete; at last the seeker, Aidan. “I trust you believe in that, or else we’re not. And this year I believe that we have one of the best teams for years! I believe we can win so let’s go out and do it!”
The team followed him outside at the pitch. James shook hands with the captain for the Hufflepuff team, seventh year Mike Hanks, and the players got into the air.
The quaffle was caught by Maja and the game had begun. She quickly flew past the Hufflepuff players and passed the quaffle to James who scored.
“10-0 to Gryffindor a voice rang over the stadium.”
James did a somersault and flew after the player with the quaffle.
The game moved on for half an hour and it was 40-30 to Gryffindor. Henrietta had just saved a goal when a shriek was heard from the crowd. She looked down, but shouldn’t have. In the same second a Hufflepuff beater had sent a bludger against her and it hit her right in the head.
The Gryffindor players surrounded the unconscious Henrietta on the ground.
“Okay.” James started. “Pete, I want you to stay a little behind me and Maja, to take Henrietta’s place. Sirius and Michael: Try to help Pete. Aidan can help himself with the bludgers. Okay?”
“Yeah.” They all agreed.
The game went on, but it soon was clearly to everyone that Gryffindor needed Henrietta. The score was 50-110.
“Aidan! I need you to catch the snitch soon!” James yelled to his seeker.
Two Hufflepuff players flew towards James and did not seam to want to change direction. They each gave him a punch with their shoulders, and James lost the touch with his broom. He was now hanging with his head down and only held up by his legs. A bludger dashed towards him and he tried to avoid it, but Sirius had hit it away before it reached him, but Sirius couldn’t make the second bludger from the other direction, which hit James on his one leg. He cried out as his broken leg let go of the broom. The last thing he perceived before hitting the ground was Sirius and Maja flying towards him in an attempt to try to catch him and a girl’s loud and frightened scream from the crowd.

It was dark outside the hospital wing, so was it on the inside. It had been a quite day after the Quidditch match. The people that had talked bout the match had only talked about the two Gryffindor players who had had an accident with the bludgers.
James blinked a couple of times. It hurt. He lifted his hand up to his head. What a headache! James tried to lift his head a little, it seamed almost impossible, but he did it, yet only an inch or two. He saw some something auburn red at his side. Lily Evans slept with her head resting on his bed. Or at least he thought it was Lily he couldn’t be entirely sure because his glasses lay at the table at the side of his bed. He smiled as he saw her sleeping here by his side, and wondered how she had gotten the permission to it. James let his head rest at the pillow again. He looked into the ceiling, thinking. He had not noticed that Lily had woken up and lifted her head to check on him. Her eyes widened when she saw he was awake and she gave him a long hug. When they broke apart she gave him a soft kiss and sat back at her chair. She took his hand in her own.
“I’ve missed you.” She said silently “How are you?”
“Headache.” He reached for his glasses at the table; she put them on him for him. Then he reached for the glass with water, but his hand could not lift it.
“Here let me help you.” She took the glass and let him drink of it.
He was not glad to admit that he could not himself.
“Your fall was very bad you know.” She said as she put the glass at the table again.
“What happened?” James asked.
“Your had broken a couple or ribs and-“
“I meant the game.” James vut her of.
“Oh, well, with two players at the hospital wing Aidan had to catch the snitch very quickly. But it was not quickly enough… 200-210.” Lily explained.
“We lost?” His voice was hollow and he looked into the ceiling.
“I’m sorry James.”
“It’s not your fault. How long have I been here?”
“Er… about 36 hours I guess.”
James was shocked. “How can I have slept that long?”
“You were unconscious. And when you fell of your broom, you fell over 80 feet and you broke about 50 bones and you got a very bad concussion.”
“Okay, that’s why it hurts so much.”
Lily smiled weakly. “Try to sleep again.”
“Naah. I don’t think a can. Slept for 36 hours, remember?”
Lily smiled slightly to him.
“Who has giving me flowers?” James asked as he saw flowers at the table. “You?”
“Um, no I have been here all the time. The flowers are from Lina and some other girls.” Lily looked down.
“Thanks for that. I don’t need flowers, they are meant to be giving to girls or at funerals.”
Lily smiled and laughed at her inside.
It was early in the morning before Madam Pomfrey looked to James, and Lily had to leave. In the afternoon James was discharged from the hospital.

“…and then he caught the snitch.” Sirius ended the retelling of the game to James. “We could never have won, so Aidan thought it was best to catch the snitch before Hufflepuff scored more.”
James signed. “I just can’t believe that we could come that far behind.”
“We had two players down! How could we ever even win that if not the snitch flew up Aidan’s sleeve right after you fell.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right.” James looked down. Now he and his team had to train even harder if they should have a chance to win the last game. James partly felt it was his fault. If he had been a little more aware of the two Hufflepuff players, he would never have got hit by the bludger and never have fallen of. It hurt in James stomach every time he thought of that.
“Should we go back to the dorm?” Remus asked and looked into the sky which was getting darker and darker for every minute.
“Sure.” James said. “Err… can… can someone help me up?”
He was embarrassed that he could not help himself get up. He had broken over half of his ribs, and because he had broken that many bones beside his ribs, it hurt in his chest every time he tried to get up. Madam Pomfrey had given him some potion he should take the next five days to make him recover.
Sirius helped him with a hand and they went inside the castle.
“How are you?” Lily asked James when they entered the Gryffindor common room where she, Tess and Wendy were doing homework.
“I’ve been better.” James said. He didn’t want to sound like a baby.
Lily came over and gave him a little hug, careful because of his ribs.
They sat in the couch with Tess and Wendy.
“Shouldn’t you be resting?” Wendy asked James.
“Um… well, I’m resting now.” James tried.
Lily turned to him. “You should go resting. Madam Pomfrey said that.”
“Yeah, but I’m fine.” James replied.
“James, I think you should go to the Head Dorm and get some sleep.”
“I don’t need to rest. I’m all good.” James insisted.
Lily grabbed him by the hand. “You’re coming now. Rather you get better than you have this pain for a longer time.” She pulled James up and dragged him back to the Head Dorm.
“Lily I’m fine! I didn’t need to go back to here.” James complained when they were back.
“I thought you wanted to spend some time with me.” Lily looked up at him with her eyebrows slightly raised.
“Well, I-” James began, but Lily pressed her finger on his lips.
James looked at her still with his mouth open to talk.
Lily removed her finger and raised her on her toes and kissed him. James let his hands fall to Lily’s waist. He pulled her slightly up to himself, perhaps a little too hard because he made a little shake, and then uttered a little gasp. He pulled away from Lily.
“It hurt, doesn’t it?” Lily looked at him.
James held his hands to his ribs and his breathing showed that he still was in pain.
“Yeah… a… little” James said and he was out of breath because the pain. But he was not glad to admit it.
“It’s late. Take your potion and go to bed.”
James looked down at her, and then out of the window. “Yeah. All right.”

“Sirius Black! Put that child down!”
Sirius turned away from the child he was levitating and looked at Lily. “Hey Lily, how are you?”
James was at detention without him and he had been alone in the corridors and had been bored, so he had started levitating a first year just as Lily came around the corner.
“Put the child down!” Lily said, ignoring the question. “Or do you want a detention?”
Sirius flicked with his wand and the child fell down with a loud bump.
“Are you okay?” Lily asked the first year.
He nodded and hurried away.
“You can’t give me a detention!” Sirius hissed when the child and its friend was away.
“Try me!” Lily said.
“I was just levitating a child!”
“You used magic in the corridors!”
“Bear with me.”
“Detention! And 20 points from Gryffindor!”
“You can’t do that!”
“Well, I just think I did. You’ll hear from me.” Lily walked away and let Sirius stand alone in the corridors with a very grim expression at his face.

Later James met Sirius in the Gryffindor common room. James looked much better now that he wasn’t taking medicine and his chest didn’t hurt anymore.
“What’s wrong with you?” James asked as he saw Sirius’s face.
“Nothing.”
Lily came through the portraithole and walked over to Sirius and James.
“Wednesday night at 8, meet McGonagall at her office.” She said to Sirius as she sat down on James lap, who put his arms around her.
“What?” James asked confused.
“I can’t believe you gave me detention!” Sirius raged.
James was simply ignored.
“You broke the rules.” Lily looked at her fingers as Sirius was an unimportant person, who didn’t deserve her attention.
“Just because you’re Head Girl, you don’t have to act like you’re better than anyone else!”
Lily looked up. “I do my job.”
“You could have giving me a warning!”
“It was not the first time you were hexing people!”
“But they deserve it!”
Sirius had gotten up and so had Lily. James was stunned about the argument, and didn’t dare to interrupt it.
“You just can’t go around do what you want. Someone had to stop it, and it became me!”
“Why do you always have to be Miss Perfect? Can’t you just for once just don’t care about everything?”
“No. And it is not just about this. You treat other people like dirt and don’t care about anyone’s feelings!”
“Yes I do. I just do what I have to do.”
“YOU’RE NOT ALWAYS THE ONE WHO’S RIGHT, YOU KNOW!” Lily yelled at last.
“NEITHER ARE YOU!” Sirius raged. His face was red and he looked very mad.
At those words Lily stormed out of the common room and headed towards the Head Dorm.
Everyone looked at Sirius who stood back breathing like he had just run a marathon. James had still not talked or even moved. He had never heard Sirius yell of anyone like this before. Yet he knew that Sirius and Lily had never been that good friends. They had never said anything, but you could see it at their faces when they were talking to each other.

The next couple of day was very hard to both James and Tess, James because he had a girlfriend who didn’t speak to his best friend. And Tess because she had a boyfriend who didn’t speak to her best friend.
One day when Sirius and James were in the Head Dorm, Lily came in through the portraithole.
“No friends in the head dorm.” She said when she saw Sirius.
“You have friends here too.” James said.
“You don’t see Tess or Wendy in here do you?”
“No, but-”
“I’ll go.” Sirius cut him off. “I don’t want another detention from being a place where I have never been told not to be.”
“If someone would just read the rules and behave like a human being, there would be no need for detention.” Lily said.
“If someone would at least try to be a little less human, we would all be happy.” And with those words Sirius was out of the Head Dorm.
Lily didn’t even make to say something back at him, she just looked at the portraithole for I while, before she walked over to James and sat beside him.
“Am I really that awful?” She asked miserable.
“If you were, would I then be dating you?” James said and put his arm around her.
“No, but were I doing the right thing?” She looked up at him.
James became very uncomfortable with that question. “Lily, please don’t make me answer that.”
“No, I’m sorry. Of course you don’t have to answer.” She said and leaned into James.
“Thank you.” He said and kissed her at the cheek. “But as long as you always do what you find right, no one can blame you.”
“I’ll think about this next time I want to give people detentions.”
James sat and thought a little. “Do me a favour Lily, will you?”
“Like what?” She asked.
“Try to talk to Sirius. This has put Tess and me in a very uncomfortable situation. And I don’t like the fact that I can’t be in the same room as both you and Sirius for the rest of my life if none of you will apologize or even talk to the other.”
“You’re serious?” Lily looked at him.
James nodded. “Yes I am. Do it for me Lily, I would do it for you.”
Lily sighed. “All right. I’ll go talk to him.”
“Thanks.” He said.
“I’ll go now.” Lily said and got up.
Lily entered the Gryffindor common room and saw Sirius in the corner, snogging Tess. She took a deep breath and walked over there. She cleared her throat very aloud and the couple broke apart.
“Oh, it’s you.” Sirius said. “What have I done now?”
“Can I talk with you?” Lily asked him and ignored the insult.
Sirius looked at Tess, who nodded slightly. “Okay.”
They went outside to the corridors.
Lily took a deep breath before she spoke. “I’m sorry for those things I said too you today and the day before yesterday.”
Sirius mouth had opened a little. “What?”
“I’m sorry for-”
“Yeah, I heard you. I just can’t believe you’re apologizing. I mean, it was me who acted like an idiot, and therefore me who should be apologizing to you now.”
Lily smiled.
“Can we just forget about it and tolerate each other again?”
“Sure.” Sirius said and smiled a little too “Maybe I have been mistaking about you Lily. You’re not that bad after all.”
“Neither are you.”
“And I’ll try to show up at Wednesday at McGonagall.”
“I can cancel it if you want to.”
“No, I deserve it, when you’re the one who acts most like an adult.”
“Thank you.”
“Friends?” Sirius asked and pulled his hand forward.
“Sure.” Lily shook Sirius’s hand.
Lily turned around, ready to leave when Sirius spoke.
“And, Lily… Just one more thing…”

After that day Lily and Sirius never yelled at each other again. That was both James and Tess very happy about.

“Happy birthday!” Lily exclaimed a weekend morning to James, who was still asleep.
James moved a little bit and then blinked a couple of times, focusing on Lily.
“Huh?” He just uttered.
Lily sat at James’s bedside and stroked his hair.
“Your birthday! It’s today. 18!” Lily said and smiled.
“Yeah… It is.” He said and sounded like he had totally forgotten. The truth was that he had. He had had all too much over his head and had been way to busy.
Lily gave James a present, which he unpacked.
“Wow. It’s great Lily. Thanks.” James held up a black T-shirt with small brown stripes at and a small box from Zonko’s.
“So you like it?” Lily asked. She was not good at finding presents, but with James, she had known as she saw the T-shirt that it was it. But that didn’t prevent Lily from being nervous because she had always been bad at stuff like this she thought. She had not forgotten that time when she was at her neighbour’s five year old boy’s birthday and he started to cry because Lily had given him a dinosaur.
“Yeah. It’s lovely and Sirius and I will have lots of fun with these.” James kissed her forehead and began dressing.
James and Lily went down to the Great Hall to breakfast hand in hand. As they sat down at the Gryffindor table Sirius and Remus began singing very loud.
“Shut up.” James tried, but they didn’t stop.
Peter and Tess began to sing along too.
James just looked down to his plate, but as Wendy and Lily joined them and they sang the song for the fourth time, James threw a sausage at Sirius. It hit him right in the face.
“You-” Sirius just said and threw one back.
James threw a bit of egg after Sirius, but it hit Tess instead. The food-fight had begun.
“Guys…” Lily tried, but gave it up shortly after, and threw half a sausage after James.
She got another one back two seconds after.
None of them had noticed that McGonagall had left the teachers table and come down and stood and watched them.
“AHEM!” She cleared her throat very loud.
They all looked up.
“Oh, good morning Professor.” James tried to smiled, but it didn’t work very well. He noticed a little bit of egg in Lily’s hair and removed it.
“What do you think you’re doing?” McGonagall asked and looked at him.
“Foodfight?” Sirius tried.
McGonagall looked at Lily. “I would have expected a little more from the Head Girl – and Boy.” She looked at James again.
“But Professor,” Wendy began. “We haven’t made that big of a mess. We were just having fun. And it’s James’s birthday. So bear with us.” Wendy tried her most charming smile.
There were a second of silence and James could see that McGongall was thinking hard.
“Twenty points from Gryffindor. Let it not repeat itself.” McGonagall said at last. “And clean this mess up.”
James waited to McGonagall sat down again at the table. “That was great, Wendy! I though we would earn at least twenty detentions.”
“Yeah! I had never expected that!” Remus agreed. He gave her a big hug, and to everyone’s surprise, he kissed her. Not a very big kiss, but just a quick one. They broke apart and both turned pink in less that a second.
“Wow…” Sirius sighed.
“Yeah…” Tess nodded slightly and looked at her friends.
“We’ll go.” James said and dragged Sirius out of the Great Hall. The others but Remus and Wendy followed.
“I knew it!” Sirius exclaimed when they were out in the entrance hall. “They have been al over each other since Christmas.”
“And they got together on my birthday!” James said and smiled,
Lily looked up at him with a raised eyebrow. “You’re actually proud about it, aren’t you?”
“Yep!”

“Ouch!”
“Sorry.”
James ran further down the corridor with an apologetic expression at his face. Ha ran down the stairs to second floor. There was no one, so he ran down towards the Great Hall. Students who were making homework filled it up.
“Hey Tess!” He shouted “TESS!”
“What?” She asked and looked up.
“Have you seen Lily?”
“Err... No, have you looked in the Gryffindor common room?”
James pointed at her like trying to make a point, turned around and ran out the Great Hall and all the way up to the Gryffindor common room. Lily wasn’t there either.
James went back to the Head Dorm. He couldn’t understand where Lily could be.
“Lily Evans, where are you?!” James muttered to himself.
Then just as he was about to get up and run out looking for her again, the portraithole swung open and James expected Lily to come in but it wasn’t Lily, it was Professor Dumbledore.
“Professor Dumbledore.” James said and got up.
“Good evening, James.” Dumbledore said, and smiled.
“Is there anything wrong, sir? Or why do I owe the occasion?”
“Hard to tell, James, hard to tell.” Dumbledore said and sat down. “I need to have a talk with you and Lily.”
“Lily is not here.”
“She’s on her way.”
“Oh, okay.”
Some minutes went by before Lily entered.
“Good evening, Professor Dumbledore.” Lily greeted.
“Glad you could join us Lily.” Dumbledore said. “Please sit down.”
Lily sat at the table beside James.
“As you both know.” Dumbledore started. “We have a killer on the loose. I don’t want to put you into the situation as I assume you know all about.” Both Lily and James nodded. “After several of murders we have to reinforce the security at the school. Otherwise I don’t think we have many students back next year, or for the rest of the year. I want you to take a talk with the prefects, and make them patrol the corridors in pairs the first four nights a week. You all need to look after suspicious items and events, both before and after hours. Everything suspicious shall be reported to me. That’s actually that.”
“Isn’t there anything more we can do?” Lily asked.
“I will in the morning announce new times you all have to back in bed, also to make better security.”
“Is that all?” James asked.
“Yes. And be there for each other. Some of the students have already lost some people who were close. They need more support than ever. And remember.” Dumbledore said as he got up. “We are strongest when we are united. Good evening.”
Dumbledore walked out the portraithole.
“He was in a pit of hurry. Wasn’t he?” James asked Lily.
“I suppose. I think he’s busy with all those things there’s going on.”
“Yeah… Oh, Lily! I totally forgot. I was looking for you just before Dumbledore came.”
“Why is that?”
James lightened up. “My mom and dad had invited you home to us for the Easter. Just for a couple of days.”
Lily looked at James, she was scared of meeting parents. Very scared.
“Have you told your parents about us?”
“Well actually no, but they know how I have felt for you. And now that you are a good friend of mine.”
“Wouldn’t it be a little weird if you had me with you back home alone?”
“Sirius and Remus are coming too.”
Lily looked at him for a long time. She had no excuses for not going.
“Okay. But just as you know, I always screw up when I meet parents.”
“Always?”
“Well, I have done once.”
“Haha. But just meet my parents as my friend.”
“Okay. I’ll do it. But promise me not to turn you back on me if I nevertheless screw it all up.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” James said and gave her a hug and after that a gently kiss.

Four persons appeared at a sidewalk in a little town, two of them holding on to each other. All had a smaller trunk with them and wearing long robes.
“Is this were you live?” Lily asked James.
“Just a little down that street. Come on.” James grabbed Lily’s hand and started walking.
Sirius and Remus were following.
“I just still can’t believe you and Wendy are together…” Lily heard Sirius say from behind.
They walked down a lovely street with big beautiful beeches at every side of the road. All the houses were small and in almost unnatural colours. They had all big gardens in front of them. The grass was perfectly green and the tulips were blooming. There was so peaceful and Lily entirely forgot how nervous she was.
“Almost there.” James said and made Lily come back to reality. “Right in there.”
Lily looked at a white house made of wood with black shining roof and lots of flowers in the garden. In a window stood a low black haired woman and looked at them. Lily guessed it was James’s mother. Suddenly she became aware of her and James was still holding hands. She let go just as the door to the house opened.
“Hi.” James said and gave his mother a hug.
“Hey James. Glad to see you once more Sirius, you look a little bit skinny don’t you? And Remus, nice to see you too.” She now looked at Lily. “I have never met you, but I assume you’re Lily.”
Lily nodded. “Correct Mrs. Potter-”
“Just call me Helena, dear. Everyone does. That ‘Mrs Potter’ makes me feel so old.”
“Sorry.”
“Oh, how could you know?” She said and waved with her hand. “And just to your information: Don’t call Jonathan ‘Mr Potter’; it makes him feel old too.” She winked at Lily and went inside.
James grabbed her hand and squeezed it softly and let go again as they went inside.
Lily was stunned. The house was bigger on the inside than possible. She presumed than there had been cast some spells at it to make all the space. James gave her a tour around in the house. James’s room was on third floor. (From he outside there were only one floor). The guestrooms were also on the third floor and Lily got herself a room just across Remus and beside Sirius. Later in the evening Lily met Jonathan. James looked a lot like him, but Jonathen had more brown than black hair. The only thing James had from his mother was his warm hazel eyes and the hair. She noticed that both Jonathan and Helena were very old, but acting almost like teenagers. She loved that about them. She was also glad that it was so easy for her just to act like James’s friend through the whole dinner. But she somehow felt that both Helena and Jonathan could sense the not-just-friends connection between herself and James.

The next day the sun was shining and it was very warm outside.
Lily tried to teach the boys a game called football which she had played a lot when she was smaller and didn’t know about the wizarding world. The boys actually enjoyed it, but thought there missed something like bludgers and brooms. They were in the middle of a game, Sirius and Lily versus James and Remus, when they heard Helena’s voice.
“Jonathan and I will be out in five minutes time. We’re just down the street at the Bones’s.”
“It’s okay mom. We’ll do fine.”
“And we’re eating dinner down there, so I hope you can cook something yourself?”
“Sure. It’ll be fun.”
She turned around and let them to themselves. They took a break and went out again when Helena and Jonathan had left.
They began a new game. Sirius had the ball and passed it to Lily. She dribbled past Remus and then past James, who tried to block the way, and scored in the unprotected goal.
“HA! You suck!” She said and pointed at James with a triumphed look.
James shrugged his shoulder and said “Well, you’re just a girl. I don’t want to be too harsh on you.”
“Just a girl? I can handle it!”
“I don’t want to hurt you.”
“No, you won’t because you suck so much you can’t come near me.”
“Oh, yes I can!” James said in his most self-confident voice ever.
“Yeah? Bring it on!” Lily said and tried not to laugh.
“Best out of five. If you score three out of five times, you win okay?”
“Prongs, you can’t do it. She owns you at this play.” Sirius said honestly.
“Shut up Padfoot!”
Remus went and got the ball and gave it to Sirius. He passed it to Lily, who had taken place in front of her and Sirius’s goal. She dribbled down. She made I feint to the right and was past James. She scored.
“1-NOTHING!” She exclaimed.
James looked at her, while she got the ball once more. This time she kicked the ball between his legs and ran around him, but it was not necessary because the ball was on its way right into the goal.
“Dude, you’re loosing.” Remus said and shook his head a little.
James was a little out of breath and he looked not as self-confident as he used to. Then he pulled himself up and had a very strange determinate look at his face. Lily tried to come on his left side around him but James kicked out for the ball, and by pure luck he hit it and he had gotten a point.
“WUHU!” Sirius exclaimed.
Lily decided to take the right side once more when she got the ball from Remus; it was good the first time and would also be this time. She came in a big bow around James, who tried to tackle her by slide at the ground. Lily was not prepared for this and just looked at him when he lay at the ground. She got the ball without saying one more word.
Lily stood a long time in front of James and they looked at each other.
“You’re going down, Evans.” He said and pointed to the ground.
“You’re going downer, Potter.” Lily said through her teeth.
Then she started her run. When James was few feet away Lily tried to make a spin around him and was several feet past him, but he caught her by the waist. She fell with her back at the ground and felt James fall on top of her.
“You cheated!” She said in shock of she had just lost. She looked at him; his face showed that he didn’t care.
“I know.” He noticed how beautiful she was this close, even with dirt all over. He kissed her.
Lily put his arms around him as she kissed him back. She didn’t even care that she lay at a very dirty and dusty ground and she was wearing a white top and skirt, just that she lay there with James.
Like this they lay for a very long time and when they broke apart Sirius and Remus had went inside.
”Why did you go inside?” James asked as he and Lily stepped inside.
“You have lain out there for half ‘n hour.” Sirius said. “Did you expect us to watch you for that long?”
“It’s noting compared to what we have been forced to look when you’re with Tess.” James said.
“Yeah.” Lily gave him right. “It has been for hours at a time.”
“Blah, blah, blah.” Sirius said annoyed and let the others laugh at him.

Lily woke up the next day and felt sore all over her body. She felt a little bruise at her hip she had gotten yesterday when James fell on top of her. She dressed and went downstairs. The three boys, Helena and Jonathan were there already.
“Good morning.” Helena said and smiled at her.
“Do you know what time it is?” James asked.
“Yeah, but I was tiered and feel sore all over because someone cheated it football yesterday.” Lily said and sent James a glance.
“I understand that.” Sirius said. “But we kicked their bots yesterday.”
“Lily did.” Remus corrected him.
“What’s that on the newspaper?” Lily asked as she saw it.
“It’s just another murder.” Jonathan said and looked sad.
“Can I see?”
Jonathan handled her it.
Lily read the article. “I’m going to die.” She muttered.
“What”? Helena asked her.
“I’m not hungry.” Lily said quickly, she was glad Helena had not heard what she said. “Sorry.” She got up and walked up to her room.
Five minutes after it knocked at the door. Lily looked up and saw Remus enter.
He sat down beside her at the bed.
“Lily, please don’t make all this that’s going on effect you like that.”
“I just don’t know how I can not. They’re all muggles. So am I.”
“Why would Voldemort go after you?”
“I don’t know. Just because I’m a muggle.”
“Lily. Those chances are extremely small.”
I knocked at the door once more. This time it was James.
“I’ll go.” Remus said and walked out.
James came and sat beside her and wrapped his arms around her, so she leaned into him. He didn’t say anything, just sat there with her. They sat there for more than five minutes without saying anything.
“I’m scared.” Lily finally said. “I’m really, really scared.”
James put his arm around her. “Me too. But we can’t go around and be scared and let it ruin our lives.”
“What if he finds me one day and he do more and worse things to me than death?”
“Lily, do you seriously think that I would ever let that happen?”
“No, but I can’t stop myself from thinking that, when I read something like that.”
“Yeah, but you shouldn’t. You can’t go around and be unhappy just because you could be in danger. Enjoy the moment and live while you can.”
Lily sighed. “You’re right. I just need some time.”
“Do you want some time alone?”
“I think so.”
James kissed her forehead and left.
Lily sat in her room all day and thought. Helena had been there once with some lunch. She tried to talk with Lily and make her come down to the others, but Lily still didn’t want to leave her room. James came around almost every hour to check on her.
At 10 o’clock Lily pulled her nightdress over her head and went to bed. She could not sleep, she lay in her bed and turned time after time but it didn’t help. Suddenly she could hear steps outside her door. She grabbed around her wand under her pillow as the door opened with a creak. Someone walked over to Lily’s bed on tiptoe. Lily was stiff in her whole body until she could smell James’s aftershave. It was not to be mistaken.
When Lily looked at him he bent down and kissed her. He was only wearing shorts. He crept down under her duvet and put with his arms around her. James pulled her I little up so she lay with her head on his bare chest.
“You couldn’t sleep either?” He whispered.
“No. I’m glad you came.” She kissed him.

Lily woke up with a start the next day. She looked at James messy hair sticking out from the duvet. She stroked it while smiling. James moved a little then stretched and yawned and the duvet slid down.
“Morning.” Lily said and let her hand run over his upper part of his body.
“Good morning Miss Evans.” He said and kissed her forehead. “What time is it?”
“I don’t know.”
“Then we can sleep a bit more…” James said and pulled the duvet a bit up.
“Sure about that?” Lily said and kissed his neck.
“Actually I think I have changed my mind.” James said and kissed Lily.
Lily put her arms around James’s neck as he pulled himself a bit up. They kissed for a couple of minutes before Lily suddenly pulled away.
“Doesn’t it sound like someone is on their way up the stairs?” She said as she heard steps come upwards.
“Crab.” James muttered and jumped up.
He ran out the door and left Lily alone. She giggled and pushed herself down again. Not five minutes after Helena came inside.
“Are you felling better today?” She asked and smile.
“Yeah. I’m better.” Lily said and slowly sat up.
“Good. Coma down and have some breakfast with us. Remus and James are already up... I just don’t get how James could wake up that early.” Helena said and looked wondering out of the window.
Lily giggled and blushed a bit. “Nor do I.” She hopped that Helena had not seen the blush.
“Never mind. Breakfast is ready.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
After breakfast Lily packed her trunk and pushed it downstairs with a little help from James. Sirius woke up ten minutes before they were going but somehow he managed to get ready. Everyone said goodbye to Helena and Jonathan and they walked out the door.
“It has been great!” Sirius said as they walked down the street.
“Yeah.” Remus agreed. “We should do that another time.”
“I still don’t know where we are.” Lily said and looked around.
James laughed. “Sorry. We’re in Godric’s Hollow. I have lived here my whole life.”
“I love it. It’s so peaceful.” Lily said.
James took her hand. “I’m glad you do.” He said and gave her hand a squeeze.
“Does there live more wizards’ families here?”
“Only three or four couples beside us.”
“That’s not much.”
“It’s a little town. There’re only seven streets, so it’s actually a lot.... Here we are.” James said and stopped. “We can apart back from here without being seen.”
“See you back.” Sirius grinned.

“So,” James begun as he and Lily were back alone in the Head Dorm. “What do you think of my parents and everything?”
Lily looked at him. “I really loved them. You’re a lot like your father.”
“I have been told.” He smiled.
“But your eyes-”
“They’re my mother’s.” James finished the sentence and smiled. “I get that a lot.”
“Can I ask why you didn’t tell your parent about us?”
James looked at her in a thinking way. “I don’t exactly know. Just think they should meet you first, and you them. Besides that, I’m almost sure that my dad knew. I can’t hide anything from him. And my mom could se it at the way I was looking at you.”
“It doesn’t matter actually. I’m glad that I could meet them as your friend the first time.” Lily gave him a hug, she couldn’t remember she had ever felt that safe in someone’s arms and couldn’t help not letting go of him.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah. I really am.” She said slowly, the word ‘serious’ echoed in the back of her head. Lily had always thought it was very serious to meet parents. James had been very keen to make Lily meet his parents; maybe he was that serious. Lily smiled a little at that thought. If someone a year ago had said that she would be glad to go out with James Potter and meet his parents, she would had laughed of them said that they were out of their minds. But somehow James had managed to changes without being another person. And Lily couldn’t deny that she liked him more than she could ever have dreamed of. She squeezed James a little.
“What are you so happy about?” James asked her.
Lily looked at him for a while. “Just us.” She replied and kissed him softly.
“Oh, and why is that?”
“I don’t know.” She smiled mischievous at him.
“Admit it. You would never have thought that I could be such a loving and caring guy.”
Lily felt as James had red her thoughts. She looked down. “Maybe.”
James made a little laugh and smiled at her. They were both silence for a while, James stroked her hair. After a couple of minutes he cleared he throat.
“Lily?” He asked her.
“What?” She asked back and looked at him.
“I was just wondering. I haven’t really asked you all year, and we haven’t really done it besides the last Hogsmeade trip… Would you like to go out with me? Like a-a date?”
Lily made a little laugh. It was the first time ever she actually was glad that James asked her out.
“Sure.” She smiled. “I would be glad to.”
James smiled. It was the first time she had heard that answer beside that time in their sixth year that she said yes just to make him think she would. The moment after she burst into laughter and said something like ‘You didn’t really think that I would ever go out with you, did you?’
“Okay. Then be ready at 7 pm. And just wear something to be inside.”
Lily looked at him. “Okay. I will, but if it’s okay, I’ll go and find Tess and Wendy.” Lily kissed him quickly and walked out of the dorm.
