That's very interesting. I'm in the process of reading OotP and i can't recall who this might be. I have been racking my brain and i came up with nothing. I'll keep trying though.

Hi Guys,
I think I may have solved this one, he is a member of The DA. He is the boy on the far left of the picture in the link below:
http://hollywood.outsidethebeltway.com/200...-the-phoenix-2/from the colour of his tie I would say he is in Ravenclaw, its been a while since I read OOTP so I cant remember the Ravenclaw people who end up in the DA. Also the boy second in from the left is called "somewhat doubtfull boy" played by Nick Shrim.

hm. i was thinking about that too. and how i would love to be in the credits as slightly creepy girl.
but anyway, i'm almost positive it could be micheal corner, who is in ravenclaw and dark haired.
and the slightly doubtful boy is Zacharias Smith. according to wikipedia. and it makes sense since he isnt officially named underneath the picture, but is in DA.

I think Felipe Black is probably right with the DA photo.
Okay, so i just pulled down the trusty copy of OOTP and am checking out Chp. 16 (In The Hog's Head) for the people who show up at the Hog's Head for the preliminary DA meeting.
These are the people who show up (other than the trio):
Neville Longbottom
Dean Thomas
Lavender Brown
Parvati Patil
Padma Patil
Cho Chang
Marietta Edgecombe
Luna Lovegood
Katie Bell
Alicia Spinnet
Angelina Johnson
Colin Creevey
Dennis Creevey
Ernie MacMillian
Justin Finch-Fletchley
Hannah Abbott
Unknown Hufflepuff Girl
Anthony Goldstein
Michael Corner
Terry Boot
Ginny Weasley
Zacharias Smith
Fred Weasley
George Weasley
Lee Jordan
That's all that are mentioned on pages 337-338. On the wikipedia cast list for the film, Michael Corner, Anthony Goldstein, and Terry Boot aren't mentioned. (There is also some character called "Nigel", who is that?)
I think the two characters on the left in the picture Felipe Black has a link to are two of three Ravenclaw boys. Probably Michael Corner and Terry Boot. Corner is kinda important as he goes out with Ginny and Cho over the course of the books.
Any other thoughts?

I think I have heard of Nigel before, in the Goblet Of Fire, there is a small boy who is in a scene in the great hall, he brings Ron a parcel (which turns out to be dress robes) and Nigel hangs around waiting for Harrys Autograph.
In the films Nigel is played by William Melling (perhaps a relation of Harry Melling who plays Dudley Dursley?!)
Here is a picture of "Nigel" AKA William Melling

Hmmm... that's strange. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to watch for a "slightly creepy boy" in the movie. Haha!

I don't think slightly creepy boy is a fair name for him. You'd think that put a prber name for him. But really imagine that in the credits.

I am a little confused as they all are really. Why don't insted of slightly doubtful boy or all of that. Why don't they just say there names?? I am quite confused whos who really.

interesting. but why'd they have to name the guy 'slightly creepy'..I don't get it. why not just use his real name? isn't a bit embarrasing to be refferd to as the slightly creepy boy?

I think it could be colin creevey's little brother. was he even in the DA that year?
But I am almost certain that is who it is if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

o yes, fresh-pickled toad...I also have an odd feeling that it is dennis creevey....but why'd they have to label him (or whoever it is) the 'slightly creepy boy'...a bit rude, don't you think.

Oh, come on. It's just a random person, a character whose identity doesn't really matter, in one of their scenes.

Nigel is Colin Creevy (the blonde photgrapher from Chamber of Secrets) younger brother who starts school in the Goblet of Fire. In the book, he makes a comical entrance having fallen in the lake. In the film, his "big scene" is handing "a parcel for you Mister Weasley" and awaiting an autograph from Harry.
Poor kid.
Kudos

Well the blond haired kid on the far left of that photo is Zacharias Smith, is it him they're referring to?

Is it just some random character some casting person made up?
Because it doesn't make sense...

Ya know what?... Just to make us all happy, like HJP/HJG_TrueLove said.. I say we should just "pretend" he's Dennis Creevy. It Makes sense... Or Nigel Creevey, watever... his name is never mentioned so it doesn't really matter..so in my mind he's Dennis Creevy

I've been wondering for two years now. Where the heck did he come from?! You'd expect them to name him Dennis, or cast someone who's not a redhead to prevent the nonreaders from thinking he's a Weasley, but no. Who the heck is he?

Yeah, I 've been wondering about that, too. I think he was spposed to replace Dennis Creevey, since they cut out Colin, they couldn't really just add Dennis. Umm, I don't really know why else they would add him.

Sometimes they do that to take away the complications. But i never thought that he wasn't in the books because i recognised the name Nigel; i always thought he was in it. I wonder where i heard that name from - somewhere in the books i swear?
I suggested, however, the other day to myself perhaps there is another Creevy brother but obviously not because everyone so far has mentioned there is only Colin and Dennis. So why when the fourth film came out was i not surprised to hear the name nigel? I wonder.

It was reported in October of 2003 that JK Rowling had planned to write in two walk-on roles for the GoF movie, as a way to raise money at a Multiple Sclerosis auction...but, Nigel is hardly a walk-on role that someone could bid high enough to win, because he has plenty of lines and also continues as a character in OotP. So yeah...I guess that doesn't help much.
I like the character of Nigel, he's so cute, but I do think they could have done just as well with Dennis Creevey! And I also never understood the kid in PoA who had all the lines. Who was he? No one ever says, and he never appears after PoA. Why not have given those lines to Alfie or Devon? They appear in film after film and are given almost nothing to do. Such a waste.

Yeah I'd have prefered Dennis Creevy as well. I love the Creevy brothers

and was sooooo upset when Colin died *sniff sniff* in the book ( also that will be confusing in the film now that they've took him out of it because the viewers will be like ' who the heck is he??? I don't care that he's died who is he?' lol
.
When I first saw GoF and Ron was like ' Thank you Nigel', I was like ' what? Nigel? Who's Nigel. Did I miss something?'. Then I just realised that he was a little random character that they had thrown in for the fun of it because they were doing a lot of things like that in GoF that weren't in the book. It's a shame though, because I think Nigel would have made a good Dennis Creevey, and anyway what was the point of putting Colin in the second movie if they were just going to cut him out again?
Urgh, directors...

I don't know why they would label him as 'Slightly Creepy Boy'...it seems kind of odd, I agree. My thoughts is that it is Zacharias Smith. The way that 'Slightly Creepy Boy' talks to Harry (rudely) in the movie seems like the same way that Zacharias Smith talks to Harry in the book.
And who is this Nigel?? I think he was made up purely for the films and is never mentioned in the book. I can't imagine he's Dennis Creevey or else he would be a lot more interested in Harry. My opinion, anyway.

Maybe the film producers don't want to pay 2 actors to play Colin and Dennis, so they just introduced Nigel to fill in for both of them. Maybe they'll kill off Nigel in the last movie instead of Colin? Maybe, maybe not. I'm really not sure why they introduced him though.

Yeah, maybe like you said Bill Weezly they didn't want to pay to people and that they just might kill him off. That would be sad. I loved when he peeks trough the hold in ootp in the Room of Requirement.

Interesting that they would replace Colin with this kid, who seems to me much younger then Harry and Ron. I know Colin was only one year behind him, and then his brother was a year behind him. Perhaps they needed a kid who was much younger then they are for the cuteness factor. As Colin was cute in COS taking pictures all the time, but he has probably lost his cuteness factor, so they added a younger kid to bring back the cuteness factor. Like the Cosby show did when the youngest child got to old to be cute any longer. I thought he was cute, but not sure what type of role he would play in the 6th movie.

Exactly! I was like, where does this Nigel came from? And where's Colin Creevey? Or Dennis Creevey.
They couldn't have just cut out Colin, I mean, he was there in the CoS, so wasn't it only natural of us to expect him in the up coming movies. And I am so sure they'd cut Colin's part in the DH - which would be so NOT fair!

Just watched the OotP DVD for the first time, so I'm back onto Nigel....

My guess is that the boy who played Colin Creevey in CoS (where they kind of had to have a Colin to get Petrified, and the character really had more than a passing role) didn't want to do any more movies. Rather than re-cast Colin and cast a little brother to go alongside him, they decided to fill the "obnoxious kid"/comic relief niche in GoF by inventing a new character entirely.
The day that kid saw the OotP script must have been the best day of his life... Nigel has more lines than Ginny, for crying out loud!

As for Colin's death, I'm guessing it just isn't going to happen in the DH movie. If any deaths in the final battle are emphasized, it'll be Fred and maybe Tonks and Lupin (though Lupin's death might be less powerful in the movies, since they've excluded the "Marauder friendship" storyline from the whole series so far). Or else they'll kill of Nigel, and bank on the viewers having developed some emotional attachment to him over the previous three movies.

I don't think the directors should have the right to create new characters ... in JKR's contract she signed for the films she stated that they wouldn't create anything new or something like that. So why Nigel? I thought the kid that played Colin in CoS was great, he only had a line or two but why not use him instead of this Nigel kid?
And even if they didn't want to recast Colin, they could've just renamed Nigel to Colin (or Dennis for that matter).
But I also think they'll cut the death of Colin out. He only has a minor role, butI think it would be wrong to cut him. In a way, it shows how much even the younger kids want to fight, and how much they've given up to do so. I really don't want them to cut Colin's death in DH (or anyone's for that matter).
