If you could change one thing what would it be? How would you change it?
Would you change how the government runs things? For example: No Child Left Behind.
poisonedXhoney
I'd have did better my first year in college so I'd still be there now, not doing some dumb retail job.

I'm planning on going back. found a place that will pay for school after a year of working for them, and I'll start with them in the spring. I just wish I hasn't screwed up the first time. :/
Krissy15
Yeah i would def. change the government we have now. Don't like it, don't like anything about it. And what is scary is that the voters of America have to be dumber than bush to vote for him ((okay, no offense to those who did vote for him, i guess. . .)).

I would also tax the wealthy more than the poor people, and stop giving tax breaks to people who don't need them.

What else. . .um, i have no idea. . .

I would change the way society is, how "you have to be skinny and pretty" and also that, "being a gang banger is cool."
ChOco
well, if I could change something it would be society minds...I would change the way people perspect things & change the way people always feel slef-obessed...and yea
alkisti
So many things i would want to change...I think that the most important thing to alter, is the way people think. If we could make everyone realise the meaning of good and bad, understand that the world is going from worse to worst because of us and accept that we can share everything and that we don't need to fight for some stupid gas or something, then we would all be happier. It's never too late but i'm no longer that optimistic... sad.gif
DoubleD
I fully agree with you, alkisti, the most important thing would be to change the people's minds. They have to understand how important saving the nature and how wrong war is!
I would also change our government (maybe not only ours) because they are making so many laws which are ridiculous and they struggle so much about the small things that they have no idea of what is important and what isn't. mad.gif
Maybe I would change a few things about myself or what I did in the past, but compared to the fate of the earth, it's nothing but unimportant.
Phoenix92
You know guys,it's better to leave those people on their way.First I would consider, what change I should bring on myself then I would think about changing, you know the way people think!!.But it might not be easy to change yourself!! tongue.gif
When Sirius Died I Cried
Umm.... if you're talking about the government language barrier thing, I'm gonna have to go with DON'T allow it. hehehe.

Being in gifted classes all my life I REALLY hated being hindered by those who were too, um, slow to keep up with. (I live in AZ, right near the border, and there's mainly ALL ESL kids....).

Umm..... well, that's my reasons why, and as for the government fixing itself in other ways (not to be a Bush hater!!), but I think they have waaay bigger troubles on their hands. *shrugs*.
Accidentprone25
If I could change 1 thing it would be to make all building and automobiles run on recyclable energy. The environment would be so much better, and we may be able to find the cures for certain diseases in the animal/plants that are now extinct because of global warming.
DoubleD
Accidentprone25, you made a very important point! One of the most important things at the moment is to stop the global warming.
Yet there are other things which have to be changed, too. Bush rules without having been elected (I refer to the first election), a bank in a city with about 50,000 inhabitants in the USA has more economic power than Ethiopia, millions of people die because of AIDS and malaria or simply malnutrition in Africa and polar bears drown because the north pole is melting more and more. mad.gif
And one of the most terrible things: humans are killing baby seals with iron rods just for fun and to sell the skins. I'd love to see that the other way round!!!
Louise
You know what I'd change? The penalty for people who drink-drive, or use a mobile phone when driving, who end up killing someone.

I was watching a movie yesterday and my dratted DVD player won't skip the piracy warnings so while I sat there, bored, waiting for the film to start, I actually read the blurb...(you have to understand, I'm sick at the moment, so I was too washed out to do anything but tongue.gif) Do you know a person can get five years in prison for breaching copyright? How totally insane is that? I mean, there are far worse things a person can do than pirate a few films. They're not hurting anyone, and the movie companies aren't doing so bad profit-wise...yet kill someone with your car because you're stupid enough to be drunk or using a phone and the most you get is two years for death by dangerous driving and your license revoked.

This world is totally insane.
Accidentprone25
DoubleD- If global arming was reversed some of thoses thing wouldn't be as big of a problem. Well except for bush, he'll always be crazy. And some other things.

Louise- Sorry to hear your sick and 5 years is a long time for just pirating videos.
Silence Dogood
Accidentprone25, I also think that we should use more renewable energy sources, particularly with cars, but as long as there are big oil companies paying the car companies big money not to produce more economical cars. As long as that continues to happen, along with George Bush in the White House (who owns atleast one oil company himself), there won't be any laws passed to stop the oil companies from doing this.
Accidentprone25
Yeah true. Which is sad considering Global warming is caused the extinction of tons of animals.
Ladie Lily Potter
I would change the way everyone lives so that Global Warming could be put to an end ... I don't want to die in 10 years thanks. So everybody, smarten up!

I'd change a lot of things. I'd love to be president for a day. I could probably get a lot of things done! Haha.
hermione rox
If I could make one change, it would be that all the children in the world were provided with safe water, since all over the world they're water is unsanitary and gross and it spreads disease.
spencer lovette <3
If I could make one change in the world, it would be to stop Global Warming. Once that is taken care of, we can be one step closer to achieving world peace. All we have to do is believe.
Lily_Potter
I don't think world peace will come very easily if at all, but like you said spencer lovette, I do think global warming is something that needs to be changed and that's what I would focus my efforts on. I don't think people really realize the gravity of the situation. Global Warming is a big problem and the ironic thing is that it can be solved by people doing little things like changing to fluorescent light bulbs. If we all play out part, I think we can make a signifcant difference. If I could change it myself, I would, but since I can't I think we should all give it a go.
MrsMcPhee4EvaInHeart.
If I could change some things I would. Like

- Get ride of gay marriage.
- Stop printing money so that our nation doesn't go into anymore debt.
- Get ride of not being able to home school in California.
- Put Bible and prayer back in school and government.
- Drill in Alaska (or where ever) for gas, oil, or what ever so that gas price goes down.
- Over power the environmentalists so we can cut trees, drill, ect.
- Delete all **** on Internet, ect.
- And there's so many more things I would change. I could go on for pages...
Nasuada
Haha,MrsMcPhee4EvaInHeart, this is the second time you've taken the words right out of my mouth. biggrin.gif It makes me happy too, to see someone else thinks the same way. Well here I go.

-End abortion!!
-Put a stop to gay marriage.
-Get the enviornmentalists to see the truth so we can drill in Alaska etc.
-Get all enviornmentalists and everyone to see that global warming isn't true!
-Put God back into schools and government
-Get rid of all the bad stuff on the internet including viruses.........
-Get rid of all the evil people running our country!
-Get rid of all the stupid law concerning homeschooling! (I'm homeschooled and they are ridiculous!

I could come up with so many more. The list could go on and on...........

Amen!!! I couldn't agree more!!! I'm so completely glad that we are on the same page. I agree with every single one of yours! I'm glad for you that you understand that that stuff isn't good and that we need to have good people and things in our country! Especially God and the Bible!
FleurDelacour
First of all, I totally disagree with The previous posted about puting a stop to gay marriage. They are still people and just because of their sexuality you are making them different, stopping them from doing what everyone else does. Just because someone may want to marry someone of their same sex doesnt give you a reason to alienate them. Gay people are the same as everyone else!!!!!!

Now for the things I would change...
I would change my skin and make it perfect.
I would change my hair to make it a lighter shade of blonde than it is (its a dull dark blonde)
I would stop war
I would make sure that everyone has a home
I would make sure that everyone has food
I would make everyone be nicer to eachother
I would get rid of drugs
I would make it illegal to smoke in the presence of a minor
...
I could go on for ages... but I wont biggrin.gif

It is because of what I believe. I believe in God and He says it is wrong because He created man and women to be married, ect. But not woman and woman, and man and man. I do not mean to offend you at all. But it is just what I believe.
FleurDelacour
Oh i wasn't offeneded. I totally understand that is what you believe, but I believe something different. I honestly dont believe all the things that the bible says, and i guess that is one of them. Sorry if i offended you.

Ok. Good, I didn't want you to be offended. And I wasn't offended. We all have our beliefs and no one should ever force anything down others throats. But all is fine, forgiven, and forgotten. smile.gif
FleurDelacour
Yep forgiven and forgotten. We're just two people with different beliefs. Aha something we agree on! Oh another thing I would change if i could would be that we are allowed to use our cell phones in school. I am like practically addicted to mine so I would really appreciate that tongue.gif

Triad
I was offended. I think it is really rude to put things like that in a post on a site such as this. If your God didn't want people to fall for someone of the same sex then he shouldn't have given us genders. It's not something people choose, it's something your born with. Saying you want to stop these people enjoying the happiness the straight community has is really sad. Here I was thinking we lived in the present with forward thinking, not in the past with backward thinking. But then people now-a-days speak as they have been taught. there is hardly anyone left who speaks of their own free will.

The changes I would make:

I would abolish all religion. All it does is start wars. I would also persecute anyone who went door-to-door spouting their beliefs. I've had enough of people coming to my home and telling me I'm going to Hell for not believe in their way of thinking and doing things.

I would not let biased people teach. For example, I would not let someone who thinks being gay is wrong teach anyone at all. It is backwards thinking and it's what's holding people back.

I would put an end to propaganda. If anyone was found to be advertising that their whatever was better then someone else's (mainly religion and opinions) they would be locked away for ever.

I would change the way my country was run. Instead of being ignored the youth would be listened to because we are the leaders of the future.

I would change zoos. I don't like zoos that have animals in cages. I like the ones that are pretty much free range where the animals can walk all over and interact like they would in the wild.

I change how many different types of milk there are. It's confusing when you go into the shop and have a dozen different brands on the shelf all doing the exact same thing but for varying prices.

I would change the Maternity Leave laws here. Everyone would get at least 6 months paid Maternity Leave, as long as they weren't dole bludgers or the stupid little girls getting pregnant just so they can get the Baby Bonus and spend it on themselves. The Laws have changed a bit but still don't help out majority of expectant mothers.

I would change how hard it is to get connected to the internet if your phone provider is a different company. Waiting three weeks isn't acceptable.

I could also go on for pages. But my changes would be along the same lines as the first ones I posted, but getting progressively more......horrible..... towards those concerned.
FastfanHPg
Only one change? That's hard...

I would probably want EVERYONE to notice when they make a mistake, and then fix whatever they did (if they can anyway). Because sometimes when I look at other people I think that they must be stupid, but if they could try and fix their mistakes then the world would be a better place. At least in my opinion..

Excuse me? You are offended when two Christian girls say that they oppose gay marriage, but do you not see how offensive that comment is. I must say I was offended by that, and to use your words, I think it is rude to put things like that in a post on a site such as this.

If I could change one thing I would change the horrendous public schools in my county, seriously New Jersey public education has taken a massive turn for the worst

Luv ya
why_so_sirius
If I could change something, I would change a society where drug use, violence, and sexual activity are mainstream and almost acceptable among the younger generation.

And I would change the animal abuse laws around here, and make harsher penalties for animal abusers.
snapesgirlforlife
For starters, I agree with the people who are sticking up for the gay people on this site. I believe in God and I'm nothing but a Jesus Freak, but isn't God's greatest commandment love? I was pretty sure of that last time I opened my Bible. How can you say you're a Christian and what-not if you can't accept EVERYONE for what they are? That continues to amaze me about this world.

I would definately make money an object that doesn't matter. Take away all the money in the world and that would make things better. No one would be out of a home, we could all just live on hopes and dreams; all of us could live on our own happiness.

I would also take away all the hatred. The people here saying they would take away gay marriage may not hate them and I see why you are saying that and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this is mine: why would you post what you want to change about the world to make it happier for you if you are going to say something that could make someone else's life worse?? I'm just sayin...

I agree with why_so_sirius about the animal abusers- more penalties on those people, it makes me angry just thinking about it.

btw, the people that are saying the stuff about the gay people because of their "religion" should think about this: God didn't give you a heart to hate anyone or anything.
lisasnape
If I could change things, here's what I'd do:

Give everyone a safe place to live.
Make sure everyone has enough food, water, healthcare and any medicine they may need.
Stop Global warming and pollution.
Put an end to abuses of all kinds.
Institute world peace and a no-war policy.
Find a renewable energy source.
Cure all diseases.
End intolerance and ensure that everyone was treated equally.
Make sure that everyone knew that they were loved by at least one person.

Oh yeah, and make chocolate a health food! laugh.gif

First, I want to ask everyone to calm down if you feel offended by the posts and not to start rude discussions that lead to nowhere, because it's pretty nasty for other people to see it, and also, to think twice everything you are going to post biggrin.gif Sometimes a hot head makes you see stuff that the other people never said: I know a lot about it because I'm often misunderstood, and it's really unfair. Please be aware of your posts.

snapesgirlforlife, I love your post. I believe in God as well, despite I'm not a Jesus Freak (tongue.gif), and I can't say I'm alright seeing gays and lesbians, but I can't hate them, I can't say that I'm against them, because I believe in the message Jesus wanted to leave us, which is love, to everyone, without difference. How can we wish the good to everyone, and to be happy ourselves, if we don't want two people to be happy? What if those two people do believe in God as well, are we banning them fron religion just to like another person? It's true: I tend to feel uncomfortable seeing to people of the same sex together, but that doesn't give me the right to say what is wrong and what isn't. Homosexual people exist since the Ancient Greek times, it's nothing new, it's not a disease, it's just the winners' law that says what is wrong and what is not.

Also, Jilly, I don't think it's rude: first, it's just an opinion, just like yours, and second, that it's true that religion has been the cause of horrifying wars for ages and all around the world. In fact, I agree with what Triad said, which doesn't mean at all that I wish people didn't believe in anything. Believing is always important: gives you strenght to keep living when you need a reason to hold, gives you the powerto change the world in the littlest things, and stress the importance of values. But religions, most of the time, divide the world, and doesn't fulfill the reason of their existence, which is to bring peace and love to men's hearts. Obsession about religions is wrong, to think that one belief is greater than any other is to think that a man is better than another just because they think different, even when the difference consists in a different word in the same sentence. But believing is important, and believing is what helps many people to keep fighting every day, when they don't have strenght enough.

A thing I would change is capitalism. Capitalism is bad. It's ruining our lives, our world, people relationships, family, the environment. People buys, to buy and to be bought. Everything people do is to make money, to buy stuff. Buying and spending has become more important than anything, more important than living the life that has been given to you, more important than enjoying with the people you love, more important than love. Capitalism reduces people to things. Which reminds me of Citizen Kane, and that I've never seen that movie (to-do thing wink.gif)

I would make of justice, a real justice, and not a convenient justice for some.

I would change beauty canons, so no one would ever feel miserable for being fat or skinny, or having a huge nose, or having too many pimples.

I would set penalties for animals abusers too, because if you don't respect all the beings, how can you expect people and all the beings to respect you?

I would take care of the environment, and make people take conscience of the global warming, before it's too late.

I would find a cure to every disease.

I would abolish racism. Differences are a lie, to say 'this or that is different' is to say that he/she isn't just the way you are or the way you want them to be.

I would kick the bums of everyone in my country, so they would be aware of how stupid they have been all this time and the damage they have caused to the country that has given so much to them.
Jilly bean
Dessi, you're right, we all need to calm down. Now that I look back my other post it was made when I was angry. My point was wondering how someone could say that they are offended when some one says that they wish to abolish gay marriage and then turn around and say that they want to abolish all religion. I know religion has caused many wars over the centuries, but to say that all it does is start wars, bothers me... a lot.

But back to the actual topic, I'm finding it funny that everyone is posting long lists of changes they would make and the first post says one huh.gif tongue.gif

I'm still sticking with my original choice of improving the public school system

I'd...
-Stop global warming
-Cure all diseases
-Put an end to poverty
-Make sure everyone has clean water.
-World Peace
FollowTheSpiders
I would definately change the fact that either:

so many people are poor, homeless, and hungry

or:

the fact that lots of factories/industries are not using "green" products, services, the "green" way of life
The Other Boy Who Lived
I would change my IQ from 140 to 150 that way i might have gotten to skip from 5th to 7th grade. If it had happened that way I would be in the class of '13 instead of the class of '14 which wiil have higher standerds and I will have less time to relax and socialize, wich even I know is at least as important as grades.

In a way your statement was offensive because you are basically saying that all environmentalists don't know what they're talking about when referring to global warming. I'm not offended by your opinions, though i disagree with all of them; there's nothing wrong with being homosexual and if God was put into schools it would leave some children feeling out of place and left out. Separation of church and state...it's in the constitution. just sayin.

I agree, it is sad when people are completely blinded by something a book or their parents tells them to think. The Bible also wants you to accept everyone and I think a lot of times the "very religious" folks are the ones that are the most cruel and judgmental. There are many things in the Bible that contradict each other.

That's rather offensive too though. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and not everyone who goes door-to-door trying to promote something they believe and have faith in is evil. There are many people who are religious who are not good people but there are a lot of really good people who are religious too. It really has nothing to do with religion, it just has to do with the kind of person you are. You shouldn't judge someone just because they're Christian or whatever you're against(organized religion in general I assume). Then you're just like the people that you hate, who judge you just because you're NOT religious.

OH and to things I would change...well sometimes I just wish that I could change the way people think. Wouldn't it be nice if you could make people see in The Middle East and Africa(Sudan, Rwanda etc) and all those countries who have had never-ending bloodbath wars, that what they're fighting over is just stupid and not worth it! I wish I could just change the way the world is...with war and stuff. It just seems like there are so many useless wars where so many people get slaughtered, and I wish it was different that way.
