Hey guys!

I decided to finally become a member to discuss the fate of the new movie. Is it going to be like it should be--like the actual book! The fourth movie was a complete disappointment. dry.gif I don''t know how they can call that Harry Potter. It was so choppy!

mellow.gif Anyway, the point is i wanted to know whether or not this movie is supposed to be like it should be. Fellow avid Harry Potter fans know what I mean.

Thanks laugh.gif

I dunno. I have little faith that it will be "right" because of the fourth, which had to have been my least favorite movie because it left out so much. They can't afford to do that in the fifth, though, because one thing affects another thing which affects another, so if they take something out you get a choppy movie like the fourth. I HOPE AND PRAY that sirius will have a larger part in the movie. He was one of the biggest parts of the book! But no matter what they do to the movies, they will never be as good as the books!

Dunno if I made much sense.....

I looked everywhere for a post on the review that is on the front pate of Veritaserum, I could not find one, I did not pass this thread so, it may have been farther down the line.

QUOTE
Although the reviewer isn't even a fan of the series, he enjoyed the film

It is good to know of course, the reviewer is not a fan, however... I don't really care what a reviewer who is not a fan thinks, because basically, they are just watching a movie. The people who love Harry Potter, though that is the definition of fan, I think are a bit more loyal than the word implies. When we watch a Harry Potter movie, we take in the magic and the acting skill, and the script, and the action as it relates to the book. That is truly the test if it is good or not.

Edit: I am a dork, of course after I write this I find the screening thread, Sorry mods.

I think that the film will be great, from what I have seen so far. I think that we have to accept that the books are massive, and unless WB is prepared to make a 5 hour movie some stuff will be cut. sad.gif

But I am expecting the film to be good none the less, it should certainly get an A (acceptable) maybe even an E (exceeds expectations). For anyone who reads the books, the film adaptations will always struggle to reach the O (outstanding) standard. Though we can live in hope smile.gif

I don't know. I know that it'll be good in getting publicity and it will be good with the money, but for diehard fans, i'm not sure. I'm so glad i'm not the only one that was really disappointed in the 4th movie. I personally disliked it and to tell you the truth, my favorite movie has been the 2nd because of how much it kept in. we can only hope that it'll be good and will live up to some of our standards
JamesP0tter
im not to sure why, but i think that the movie is going to be really good for some reason. the 4th movie was HORRIBLE. I think it might be good because a lot of the stuff in hte 5th book is talking. and htere isnt a whole lot of action so they will probobly cut out most of hte talking and add all the action. thats my view at least.

I agree with you Jef1234, the second movie was the best: it followed the book incredibly closely. This movie needs to be over three hours most likely in order for them to add all needed scenes that counteract with one another. Scenes like Trelawney getting sacked, Cho and Harry's kiss, and Umbridge's office have been in the previews, as well as Grimmauld Place, so hopefully that's a good sign. I think that this movie will be a little more close to the plot judging by interviews with the cast and previews, although this director might have done the opposite of what the last director did and left out some of the larger scenes and put in the smaller ones. We'll find out this July!

If I have to be honest, I watched the movies first and then read the books. So, even I had never read even one page of the books I could sense there were things in the movies that didn't make much sense, or were too easy on the viewer's eye. After reading the books I appreciated a lot more the whole HP experience and thought why they couldn't make the movies so much more alike the books? Ok, we know they can't put everything in a 2 and something hours movie but why not sticking closer to the real plot? I have a huge confusion in my head sometimes because I watched the movies a lot more times that I've managed to read the books.

Differences I've seen in pics so far...

wasn't it 'I must not tell lies'?

James and Sirius hair was black in the books right? well in the pics James' hair looks almost blonde!

I read the other day that neither Gilderoy Lockhart heart.gif laugh.gif , Rita Skeeter nor Dobby are going to appear in this movie. If they don't show Lockhart, then they're not showing Neville's parents? And if Skeeter is not there, who's going to interview Harry and publish it in The Quibbler? and with no Dobby how they gonna find out the Room of Requirements and who's gonna tell them that Umbridge found out about the DA when they were in the meeting?

As some said before, the 4th movie was a huge disappointment (but loved the scene at the cemetery anyway), hopefully they won't make the same mistake with this one.

And yeah, I also wanted to hear the Slytherins singing 'Weasley is our King!' biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

i think its gonna be great

the whole " Im must not break rules/tell lies" is explained in another thread and makes sence coz their both in teh film

and the pic you put as james to me i think is Remus, so i dunno bout that

from what i've read and scene it looks good, i no they have to cut out bits lke in GOF but im willing to let that go as we've still got the book and JK agrees with the cutting out

im just going to keep an open mind until july 13th smile.gif

i read a review of the movie from a private screening, and it was from someone who liked it, but the person also liked the PoA and GoF, and i personally thought those movies SUCKED, so i am very discouraged sad.gif
time turner
If the movie is as good as the trailer then I think that this could be the best movie. Although my hopes are not high because of the fourth movie, I thought that it sucked. What made it worse for me, the fourth book was my favorite.

omigosh you though POA sucked? i mean, yeah, GOF wasn't the best movie ever made, but i LOVED POA!!

anyway, i heard the premier for movie five was really, really good

and i am amazingly amazingly excited because ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS A BOOTLEG OF THE CHICAGO OTP PREMIER AND I'M GOING TO HER HOUSE AND SEEING IT ON MAY 25TH!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

i'll review it after, for anyone who wants to know stuff

I was very angry at how horrible they did with the fourth HP movie. They could have done a lot better then they did. So it is making me unsure if I want to see the 5th movie or not. I am hoping it is not as horrible as the first.
Magelirose
I thought GOF was ok - the graveyard scene saved it really. I was very disappointed with the maze scene, but loved the black lake scene - so in essence, the scenes that sucked were cancelled out by the scenes that rocked. GOF was my favourite book, so I suppose the film was never really going to live up to that anyway.

OOTP however: so far the scenes we have been allowed to preview look pretty amazing. I can't wait for the MoM fight - all those smashing shelves and the fight between LV and DD should be fantastic. Plus, as Dan showed in GOF that he has grown immeasurably with his acting skills (emotions etc) he should be utterly incredible in the MoM scenes, and hopefully in DD's office afterwards (if they haven't cut that, which considering they cut the hospitai scene with Mrs Weasley in GOF, is a distinct possibility...). Also, from what we've seen of Umbridge and the Twins so far, they've done some pretty good casting and interpretation of the book.

Roll on July 12th!!!!
