Wow that would be scary to have a stalker. That's one of the things I don't like about fame and being a celebrity is that you have a 99% chance that you have a stalker. I would be scared if I were in her place. I mean there is those good people who adore you and those people who are bad and want to do who knows what to you.

As I recall from a book I read about the British royal family, it is often not the people who don't like you that are the problem, it is the people who like you too much.
Having been the prey of a stalker in the recent past, I cannot even begin to tell you how horrid it feels. And Breanna, you're so right! It is very scary! It isn't just what a stalker has done, but the threat of what they might try next that is so frightening.
I feel for Emma. I know she's not a wallflower, likely to wilt under this threat, but this is disturbing. She's so young--I'd hate to see her be afraid to be herself and have a normal life.

What a shame! Shes only a young girl, and to be being followed as well... its dreadful. Im only a couple of years younger then emma and if someone had been bursting in my school or following me about, id be terrified to even leave the house. I wish people wouldnt do that, because if emma kept getting lots of stalkers and all that then she could withdraw from the films, for her own safety. I hope shes not being followed around anymore. She should be allowed to live her own life outside of the films.

Let me ask you this - If Emma wasn't in the HP movies would any of you care if they airbrushed her? Be honest. I know everyone says they would care but really? How many stars out there have it done to them all the time? I don't see people screaming for blood because of it. If she wasn't Hermione no-one would care.
If it wasn't Emma, I don't think anyone would care, honestly.
I have to agree with passerby that I literally laughed when I saw the pictures. At first I had just thought they'd darkened her features up and such and I didn't understand what the uproar was about...And then I scrolled down more. I almost spit my tea out all over the screen.
Not only were her breasts enhanced, but they also airbrushed much of her face, including a very noticeable airbrush of her jawline. For them to digitally enhance a character, especially Hermione, is incredibly ridiculous. Out of all the characters in the series, she's the one that I feel is the least likely to care about her appearance. Emma as an actress may care, but this is a poster for the movie based on the books.
Emma is incredibly beautiful on her own and it is a little dodgy that these men (or women, who knows these days) were designing the posters with the mindset of enhancing an underaged girl. As if the self esteem of young women everywhere wasn't already low enough.

Thanks Janet.

As I've stated before, I don't need someone else to tell me what I should consider important, thank you very much. Especially someone I don't even know. Who cares? Apparently quite a few people--and if you don't, find a topic here that you
do care about. There are hundreds, by the way. It shouldn't be a problem.
It doesn't matter what was done, or how severe or not it was. The fact that it was done at all is the issue. Hermione is not a Vogue model. She's not a sex symbol. She's an underage girl who cares little for fussing with beauty. Emma, the actress, is perfect for Hermione, and no 'enhancement' was needed.

This may be seen as a double-post, yet it's been a day since I last posted here. I am posting again to say that yesterday I bought the new issue of Teen Vogue because of the HP article in it. I seldom buy magazines of any kind, least of all fashion mags. And I have to say, I was surprised at all the airbrushing. The ads are full of plastic people! They don't even have real skin, they look like Barbie dolls. I swear I was looking for the joint lines in their arms. No wonder so many of you think it's no big deal! So I apologise if I offended anyone, but man! Yech!
Sad, really. As were the unattractive, stick-thin young girls they use to sell clothes. Blech.
All I can say is that Emma was the prettiest girl in that magazine. Seems all one needs to be a model anymore is height and emaciation--you don't even have to be pretty.

May 28 2007, 04:27 PM
Ok, that's just perverted. Enhancing her chest size, she's pretty the way she is. I mean she doesn't need boob adjustments. She fine the way she is. If I were her I would be mad cause it wouldn't be completely really her. And that's also sad that now a days that people enhance girls chests cause to me that's perverted and gross. I mean what's the good in that? Nothing. I mean now it's like people will only watch movies just because this persons got huge boobs. Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming to. And I think that would be very discouraging for Emma because it makes her think if she had bigger boobs she'd be prettier. But that's not true cause she is very pretty. And that's the way God made her. God didn't plan for her to have huge boobs. So people should accept that she's fine the way she is. And I agree with everyone else that if she wasn't Emma Watson Harry Potter star no one would care if she were big chested or not. People don't have to have huge chests, tons of curves, or have big back sides just to be pretty. Putting a bigger chest on her to make her more sexually appealing, in my opinion, is just sick and wrong. She's absolutely fine.

I really feel for her cause that would be quite a scare. I've never had a stalker but I've heard stories of them and it's scary. I mean that would be terrible trying to live a normal life but worrying a lot about if your gonna get kid napped tomorrow. Or wonder if you being watched every step you take. It's really sad now a days thinking that you could be kid napped just by stepping out of the house or someone come in your house cause you left a window open and they kill you or steal valuables. It's really scary these days. You've gotta watch your back or otherwise it could end up terribly bad. I'm not trying to scare people really bad, it's just life and what the world has come to. Sadly stuff like this happens a lot. I'm not saying you should worry every single second and look behind you every 30 seconds. You should have fun but be cautious and aware of what could happen at the same time.

What a creepy, creepy man! I'm sure that was a definite scare for Emma. People are such nutters half the time, you just can't be too careful, I guess. I mean, I'm sure she deals with scary people all the time, being as truly famous as she is, but for someone to come to her school...ugh. It just gives me the shivers.

This is a very scary thing for a young person to go through. I know exactly the feeling Emma has, I too had a stalker mnay years ago ( my 1st husband) he stalked me for like 6 years until he got locked away in prison, (for other reasons other than stalking) it is not a pleasant feeling to have someone follow you around like that. Another scary stalker scenario, try having a woman stalking you...As a woman having another woman stalk you out of jealousy, none the less is quite scary...It can happen to anyone of us guys and gals...

Emma's a 17 year old girl, that is perverted that they made her chest bigger. For one thing people that work in the department are probably like middle-aged and should not be looking at her in that way! Second, she's playing a 15 year old which is even worse!
I think it is sad that people feel the need to airbrush people to make them prettier, i think we should celebrate the fact that people like Emma don't need to be airbrushed to make them any prettier. Hell, I wish I could be pretty enough that i didn't wish I could be permanantly airbrushed. We shouldn't make them think that they don't look good the way they are because in most cases, like Drew Barrymore in Charlies Angels, they look just fine anyway!

That is truly disgusting and awful! How could they do that to her. She is so beautiful that she doesnt need any enhancing to be honest. I don't remember Hermione being described as busty. I hope Emma took no notice as I have seen her in person and she should be proud of what she has got and no one should make her feel any different.
There is so much pressure right now for girls to have big bust especially in my school and it's so degrading. I really fail to see the fasination, but I am a girl so I suppose I wouldn't

.
But if you are as beautiful as Emma you don't need any enhancing, take a look at Kira Nightly!

When I first saw the pictures I was, in a way, upset and then angry as I am a teenage girl and this is all too real for me as I have friends verging(sp?) on anorexia as well as their are girls in my grade already talking about how they're going to get nose jobs and boob jobs as soon as they leave school and we're only grade nine, so the average age is 15.
Emma was 16 when this happened and most 16 year olds are insercure about what they look like because of all the pressure and stereotypes of being a young woman. Even though she seems like she a happy, fun-loving person, who really knows of the insecurites she could be facing. It's just outraging that someone thinks that a 16 year old needs altering to look "pretty" when everyone knows how pretty she is. Also giving anyone, especially someone underage a bigger chest is perverted and whomever does it really needs to take a good look at themselves.
I'm only 14 and my boob size is what used to be considered average size but I'm repeatedly told by girls at school how "small" they are and my response is usually "oh well, I won't get back pain" and things along those lines as big boobs aren't everything. Plus I'm quite comfortable with how I look and don't think I need "ehancing" to be liked. I also read my fair share of fashion magazines, like many teenage girls, and even magazines designed to be full of advice, fashion and celebrity gossip that promote self-confidence and a healthy life still go and use air-brushed models in their magazines as "sex sells" and really, making money is usually all that matters to big bussinesses like WB.
Personally I'm just outraged and discusted by this as it does hit so close to home for me and I really feel sorry for anyone who feels they have to be "enhanced" or even "enhance" someone to make themselves feel better.

I suppose I can't say that I'm as upset and angry as some of you lot, because frankly it happens so much now, that I've just gotten used to it. It's nearly to be expected.
But in this case, it is a bit ridiculous. I for one, have never imagined Hermione with very big boobs... And Emma's already gorgeous to begin with.

I agree with you Caitlin in Australia!
Some people my think that if Emma wasn't playing Hermione that people wouldn't care which in all respect my be true for some people but it does strike a nerve for me. I am also a teenage girl who like many others have had many issues when it comes to physical appearence. It's strange how your teenage years can make or break you, its hard growing up in a society which has such a narrow minded idea of what perfect is and that if you don't look like that you aren't...well...human. I went through a bit of a rough patch myself concerning my image but thank goodness I am recovering despite the horrible things people even "friends"have said. But to be honest there was nothing wrong with me in the first place. One girl in particular who I know who just because she has a large chest thinks that anyone who is smaller than her is below her. When we would talk about Emma Watson she would say things like "I hated her dress in the Yule Ball scene, her breats are so small she couldn't fill it out. You need a large chest." Pffttt!
This attitude really hurts me as girls as young as 13 are trying to slim down and inflate their chests. There is no point obsessing over the perfect body because if you live wtih the frame of mind then there is always bound to be something that you will want to change. Seeing Emma being enhanced first of all made me think that if she is being edited as beautiful as she is then there must be 1000 things wrong with me. But now I have thought it through it has made me feel better knowing that not even stars are perfect and that its a natural process to be modified before being put on posters/magazines. It's not a nice thing and I really disagree with the whole thing, be it on Emma or who ever. Yes maybe covering the odd spot is understandable but to go to great lengths as enhancing breasts...I'm sure that many teenage girls even some women will agree with me that it's a sensitive issue. And to see people highlighting the fact that "small" is not worth anything...well I would like to see a picture of the people who edit the pictures in magazines.
Yes I still don't look the way that I would want to, but if I come to think of it I could look a lot worse, and I would rather people accept me and like me because of who I am and not because I am good to look at. All of us who feel insecure about the way we look, desiring to be someone else need to learn to love every bit of us including the imperfections because without them we wouldn't be human. Did you know Dan Radcliffe has spots? Yes I saw at the premiere he is still 100% attractive but he is human too! It's part of growing up.
Well I'm going to stop wittering on now and take some of my own advice and block out all of the negative stuff said to me and think of the positive. Don't listen to magazines.

That train had gone down in history and they have just defaced it? Where do little children get off doing things like that? No respect for society anymore.
Actually we should send them to Filch who can perform some of the old Hogwarts punishments on them like in the first film when he said he missed hanging children by their thumbs in the dungeons

I agree completely with what HP number one Fan said. What kind of message is this sending to children? Hermione is this intelligent girl who is not concerned about her figure or looks because she has more important things to worry about, yet they feel the need to edit her to make her look "sexier". It's ridiculous.
Poor Emma Watson as well. That must have felt really bad, that they felt the need to "improve" her because "she wasn't good enough". That's no way to boost someone's self esteem. What kind of people would sit edit the boobs of a young girl?
You see airbrushed fake people in magazines, adverts, TV, everywhere. But I never thought that a 16 year old girl playing a nerdy girl in Harry Potter would need to be airbrushed to have more curves.

I'm glad that they hired a bodygaurd for her because I'm pretty sure there would be an upset if any of the Potter starts had anything happen to them. I don't live in England, so I can't say I'm on the look out, but if I did, I wouldn't do that just to meet her, or any of the stars. They like thier normal lifes(or at least as normal as it can be) to stay separate from their celebirty lifes. If these vandals think that what they stole was of any value, or that it would become more valuable, they may soon be mistaken. I seriously doubt that anyone would pay for stolen property.
It's like if a thief would steal a valuable painting from a museum, then bide his time and try to sell it. He'd have the authorities all over him, no matter how much time had passed. Not that the Hogwarts Express is anything like a valuable painting! Over time, anything related to HP will be a dime a dozen!

This is so sad... these kids should be reading the books, not destroying props for the movies! (it may be big, but the Hogwarts Express is still a prop to me
) Anyways, I have to agree with all of you -- the best thing for these kids would be community service fo some sort.
You know, we have a program in my area that takes kids who have vandalized property, and introduces them to the people they've vandalized (providing the victims agree to it). They have to actually face the folks whose property they've destroyed -- it works wonderfully as a deterrent for future vandalism. Too bad something like that couldn't be done in this case.

Well, that's one of the downers of being celebrities. You have people who admire you, people who hate you, people who don't really care, and people who obsess over you.
You know, I don't think that most celebrities ever have fan walk past them, say hi, and then leave. that would be nice for them, don't you think? Whenever someone sees them, they start screaming, or something like that, and try to talk to them. Must be horrible...

I'm sorry for sounding a bit insensitive here, but what's the big deal? It seems to me that all this bloke did was sit down and talk to her - yes, he did join her lecture group just to talk to her, but that's all he did - talked to her! I'd understand if he'd threatened her or tried to get her to go out with him or something, but all we know is that he talked to her.
So what's the big deal? Just because someone sits next to you, doesn't mean they're a stalker! I can't believe she phoned the police cos of that ... maybe if he was all over her I'd understand, but he talked about Harry Potter - phoning the police because of that is just sad in my opinion. Oh and another thing, if I were her, I wouldn't stand next to Orlando Bloom. He's foul.

Hello Killian!
I am sorry but I am going to close down this thread. You opened a new thread to discuss the rumours of Emma dating Johnny Borrell. There was no need to open a second thread to discuss that the rumour was false. Your original thread on the subject is more than adequate to discuss her rumoured relationship. Your original thread can be found
here.
