I've found this pretty interesting map of HP schools. It shows their locations and recruitment grounds. There is also a really good essay about their locations, languages their students speak and a lot more.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:HP...s_locations.JPGAccording to this I would go to Durmstrang which is cool!!
I'd like to hear your opinion on that!!!

oh yeah!

i would go to Hogwarts apparently as i am in the recruitment area for it!! i'm glad actually, i think that's the only school i'd really want to go to.
how come this is only Europe?? are there any maps for the states?? even though i don't live there i guess it would be cool to know. and a lot of Veritaserum members come from the states.

I'm sorry, but there are no maps for the states as we don't know any school from the states. Maybe in the seventh book? We'll find out. There was an Institute of Salem Witches , but we don't know anything more about it.

Unfortunately I can't go to Hogwarts, Durmstrang, or Beauxbatons. Only because I live in the states. But if I did live somewhere near those locations, I would definitely go to Hogwarts.

I would go to Hogwarts. The map is certainly a good find and there are lots of other interesting things on wikipedia.
I'm sure there must be other schools outside of Europe, because at the quiddich world cup Harry sees some African wizards and some from America and they must have been educated somewhere.

Sadly I wouldn't go to Hogwarts because I live in the states. Maybe there's a wizarding school over here for some of us to go too. I'd love to hear about other schools around the world in the 7th book. Or maybe JKR could publish a mini book about the schools and the wizarding cultures around that area (like Quittich Through the Ages, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them). That'd be awesome!

Oh no!!.I don't live in Europe so no possibilities of going to any wizarding schools.I'm orginally from India but now I live in Gulf..

.Sad!..But it's okay!.If you are a fan of Harry potter, then you are a student of hogwarts!!..Atleast,that's what i hope..

Oh man I live in Canada. But if I were I would want to go to Hogwarts, I love that school. Not someone whose headmistress is afraid to admit what she is or a DE Headmaster.

I problably coudn't go to any of those schools. I 've always wondered if there was a school in the States. If so, I would love to go there. But I would want to go to Hogwarts more.

I guess I'm not surprised that no (boarding) schools are mentioned for the Americas. Well specifically for the United States. I think in GOF one in South America was hinted at, but nothing was ever specifically mentioned. I know there are quite a few boarding schools here in the US, but I also know it's not uncommon for students at those schools to be "day students" and return home every evening.
I just can't see Americans shipping their kids off for seven years, it's so, well, un-American.

Wow that map is so cool!
Unfortuately ((like others here)) i live in the states so i dont stand a chance!
They should make a school for us on the other side of the globe!
althought of course nothing they would make here would even compare to hogwarts!
*sigh*
its still a cool map though!

Ok ... lucky for those who live in europe, but unfortunately, i don't. I was just born there. Now i live on New Zealand, where Christmas is spent having a barbeque by the beach.
But i would go to Hogwarts if i still lived there. But i'm sure there must be other schools. the Salem one is pretty cool, and there's one in Brazil, remember? Bill's pen-pal?
*Sigh* I remember being 11 and waiting for my Hogwarts letter. I really wanted to go to Hogwarts.

I just wanted to tell you guys that if you like the school you would go to according to your location and you got a different one in the Veritaserum quiz, then you can change it if you like.

WOW !!! That map is really cool !!! Unfortunately it doesn't show for what school I would be recruited .
I live in Romania , which is in the est of Europe , at the north of Bulgaria , but.....it doesn's show to which school I could go to . If I were to venture a guess ......I would say that I would be recruited to go to Durmstrang ,because it's closer . I don't know for sure , I mean I would love to go to Hogwarts .....or even Beauxbatons , rather than Durmstrang . I don't like cold places

Ah, that would be a curiosity, a book about the wizarding schools around the world. I also am from the United States, so I wouldn't go anywhere in Europe.. but I'm sure I could relocate. I would like to go to Durmstrang. I love the language in that part of the world.
This map is very useful and informative! What a find.
Wikipedia is such a friend. Just today I looked up Theodore Nott, because I didn't remember him from the books.
Great thread.

Yes we do and I tried to Google it, and there was no response. In Gof, we hear that there's one in South America, but why not the US?

thats too bad i'm from the US and i would to know where i would go to school considering i live no where near south america. i would DEF. relocate to Europe and go to Hogwarts though!
i lurve red heads
May 8 2007, 10:35 PM
Same as many people, i wouldn't get to go to hogwarts living in the US and all
... But there definitely must be some sort of magical education school in the states... In Quidditch Through the Ages a Quidditch team named the Fitchburg Finches was mentioned, and thats in central Massachusetts... so a school in Mass, especially near Salem, would make a lot of sense
carmen2010
May 9 2007, 01:11 AM
A school in mass would be quite convinent considering I live there lol. I would love to hear about American witches/wizards. I think it would facinating to hear how magic works in the point of view of a different culture.

Good idea...although i wouldn't go anywhere by the looks of it, there are no schools in the U.S.! Where then would I go....is it closer to Durmstrang, or Hogwarts?! I think that I would like to go to Hogwarts...they probably would recruit people from the Americas..hopefully!

That is a very cool map!
Unfortunately I live in the states, so according to the map my location doesn't qualify for any of the schools. Oh, well, another reason to go to England!

If I were to move where most of my family lives, just outside of London, then I would go to Hogwarts.

Yay! I'd go to Hogwarts! I'd have to get a plane or a boat though to London

(I live in Ireland) every September and June. And if I wanted to go home for the holidays. But I suppose Seamus Finnigan does it, so its possible.

Or is he Irish and just lives in England? It would cost a lot to get there all the time. Even though it's not real.

Well, I've always wanted to live in England and I'd make my family move there so I could be in Hogwarts. Does that count?
