This is like the only reasonable couple. I mean Harry sticks up for Hermione without relizing it. Plus Haryy freaked out when she was hit with the curse in DoM. I have more reasons and will post them later because Its 1:30 and Im not tired but I cant think.

Somehow, I don't think Harry and Hermione would work out. Hermione may slighty like Harry, but once you hang out with someone for as long as Hermione has hung our with Harry.....things go bleh.

So Hermione may love Harry as a brother, not a lover. Same goes for Harry's feelings towards Hermione.

Harry and Hermione are not only friends, they work good as a team. Bk 1 to 5 have shown such partnership, they can carry the story even without, sadly but honest, Ron.

Bk 5 alone carries so much weight on the Harry/Hermione partnership, it makes a reader doubly think if there is any hint in there for the two.

And Ron and Hermione are not close? Isnt ron also hermione's friend? Arent they the TRIO? Hermione is as close to Harry as she is to Ron. Where's the difference there?

And IF Ron and Hermione get togehter, you all say they wont break up? When all they do is bicker and exchange words in such tones not normally heard between "future" partners?

Just look at the record. JKR has scattered all the hints one would need to make an intelligent guess.

Bk1- Harry and Hermione goin to the last test before Harry gets to meet Quirrel; only the two were made to save baby dragon in the Astronomy Towers; it was the two who JKR paired to stay with Hagrid in the serving of their detention in the forest .

Bk2- Hermione guessed where the secret of chambers was and Harry made it possible to go there. And not to mention all those hand caressing in themovies when nothing of such sort was written in the books. And dont forget the hug.

Lets not start on the so called "friction" in the movie. All it showed was Hermione feeling comfortable with both boys, she was all for the hugging, only Ron withdrew from it. Its comfort not friction.

Bk3- Harry and Hermione to the rescue of Sirius. Ask why not Ginny? Or why not include Ron? In fact they're supposed to be a Trio, arent they? Why exclude Ron?

BK4- Who got paired up with two of the most popular students present in Hogwarts at that time for the Ball? Harry with Cho, Hermione with Krum. Very quaint. Who was with Ron? No one.

And dont talk about the fight. Becasue that's all it is, a FIGHT. Compare what Hermione said in there, the 'last resort" statement, with her "of course you're not a bad kisser" to Harry in Bk 5--which has a more "romantic" overtures there? The fight versus the Kiss? Cmon, be honest.

BK5- Let me count the ways. Too many to tell.
Ask here: if its really Harry and Ginny, why not include Ginny in that Grawp and Umbridge scenes? Since she is already talking to harry, why not include her in his adventures, the way Hermione shares Harry's adventures? All she has was the egg sharing in the Library. How romantic is that?

Dont start about the " bond" they supposedly share inn Bk2- because even Harry couldnt rememebr that one, even Ginny had to remind him that she was "possessed" by Voldy in bk 2.

BK 6 / 7- More Harry and Hermione partnership as Harry learns to rely on Hermione more and trust in her judgments.

Just becasue Harry and Hermione are close , it closes the possibility of them getting together? And the fighting and friction with Ron is all the ingredients needed for a "romance" between the two?

And now with Harry getting busier by the minute in the coming books, even JKR said Harry has no time for "romance" anymore, excpet maybe, for a kiss.

Believe me, it'll be coming from Hermione.

Harry and Hermione CANNOT become a couple. Remember when Harry and Cho started dating in the OotP? Hermione didn't seem upset about that at all. In fact, she even encouraged Harry to tell Cho that she and him didn't have anything like that going on.

You just said it. DIDT SEEM TO... whose view was it? the Reader. Not JKR. What idea was formed with those words? NOT INTERESTED. Who formed it? The Reader. Not JKR.

Yet in all her books, JKR doesnt pass up the chance, heck, the chapters, without Harry and Hermione sharing a moment or two, soemthing that is yet to happen between Hermione and Ron.

There is yet to be anything "romantic" to happen between Ron and Hermione that would DEFINITLEY point to a MUTUAL ATTRACTION between the two.

Coz as it is, all signs point to RON LIKING HERMIONE. And Hermione responding to both boys as the situation calls for.

Like in the Yule ball, she reacted the only way possible without losing her character as the loigc driven teenager--(paraphrasing here)--DONT ASK ME AS YOUR LAST RESORT--because that's what really happened. Ron asked her as a Last Resort, after having asked the GIRL OF HIS DREAMS (Fleur) and having been turned down.

Hermione simply mentioned the FACT of being asked as a last resort.

But in Bk5- about the Cho Kiss--you ask,Why would Hermione say such a thing, that Harry is not a bad kisser? Its something out of character! No basis at all. HAS SHE KISSED HARRY BEFORE? Now you panic. On the cheeks, yet even that is ignored.

But when she kissed Ron ON THE CHEEKS, in bk5- THATS ROMANTIC. Yeah, c'mon on be real.

Yet she said it. And even hinted at Harry that he could have said something about HER being UGLY.

If that is not a simple yet provocative hint to Harry, I dont know what is. Clearly, Hermione is letting out some "feelers" that she likes Harry, without losing her identity as the "BEST FRIEND".

When did she ever do this to Ron?

She would even cut short her trip with her parents just to be at the burrow (not because she wants to snuggle up to Ron, mind you...) but to comfort Harry who was smarting up at that momnent.

If that is not a "romantic" overture, then give me another that she did for Ron.

Fact is, IT SEEMS HERMIONE IS NOT INTERESTED, yet in every turn, in every book, a reader sees a chapter devoted solely to Harry and Hermione.

Couldnt BEST FRIENDS end up together? If you say no, then Hermione WOULDNT end up with Ron either, he's her best friend too, rememebr?..

And with all the interviews being given out there, hinting at a Ron-Hermione pair up, dont be surprise if in bk6 JKR make the unexpected and pair up Harry and Hermione, for good.

After all, JKR is the "diva" of surprises.

About the Harry telling Hermione she isn't ugly.

That doesn't mean anything. You can tell your friend's they're not fat, or not ugly, but that doesn't mean you like them. Considering all the stuff that Harry and Hermione have been through together, they're not going to have a "teasing" relationship. Had Harry said that Hermione was ugly indeed, it wouldn't have made any difference.

Personally i can't "see" them together like that.There rlly gd friends but Harry has never thought of Hermione that way & vice versa.In GOF they each had the chance to ask each other to the dance & it didn't happen then so i can't see it happening now.

i think that it would be really akward for harry and hermione to go out. i mean hermione and harry....i dont see it happening. remember at the yule ball? harry didnt care about her being with viktor. and i think that they know that they are too good of freinds to let their feelings split them apart. as for hermione and ron, i can see that he has strong feelings for her. if harry and hermione start dating what will happen to ron!!!?? :?

k, i'm new, but here's a thought. what if hermione has feelings for both of the guys, but show's more of them for ron because harry has so much going on??? or pretends to like ron to make harry jealous(i like the first idea better)? there ARE a lot of hints pointing to a hermione/ron relationship. BUT i don't think that there will be enough time for anything to happen. a lot of ppl think, and i agree, that ron has to die. soooo...i think ron will die in the 7th book protecting harry and hermione, and something will happen that will lead to a harry/hermione ship.

I prefer Hermione with Harry over Ron. I really don't have much reasoning for it, other than I'd rather like to think there are subtle hints of deeper, mature feelings where as the feelings between Ron and Hermione seem childish.

I agree w/ Ceres. The whole relationship & flirtation between Ron & Hermione is more childish. The difference with Harry & Hermione is that their relationship is more mature. And maybe, just maybe, Hermione or Harry or both of them is denying their feelings. Harry probably would because of Ron, and Hermione would because of how much Harry has to deal with. It just makes sense people. I think something will happen between Ron & Hermione, but I don't think it will last.

Another thought to how this could work out. There have been subtle hints through all the books that Harry & Hermione are closer than the 3 of them, not necessarily on a bf gf level, but they just understand each other better. They're equals. I think, and this has already started to happen, that Harry will try to push everyone away from him. He'll convince himself that if they aren't close to him they won't be in as much danger since he already blames himself for Cedric and Sirius dying. but the only one who will refuse to let this happen will be Hermione. She stuck by him during all his fights with Ron, and the way her character is I doubt she'd let Harry do that. I think that would be a way that they'd get closer and realize that they care for each other as more than friends. A sign of this is in the movie, and you know JKR oversees everything, so I bet this was sposed to be a hint. In POA(movie) when Harry finds out about Sirius betraying his parents & Ron & Hermione follow him, Ron tries to hold Hermione back, but she won't let him. It's just an idea, but I think it could happen. It follows their characters and the way they act in the other books.

I have recently read again OotP, and what suprised me the most (with the "I don't think you're ugly" and "you're not a bad kisser" things) was the "way" Harry acted in the DoM, when the Death Eaters were threatening Harry and his friends. When the prophecies fall on the floor and they start to run, the only one Harry worries to protect with his body is Hermione. Not Ron (the person he should miss the most), not Ginny... Hermione. That surprised me very much. Yes, at the yule ball he didn't seem very bothered by Hermione and Krum... but the first thing he noticed was the "pretty" girl with Krum, even though he had his crush on Cho. And, after all, talking about the 4^ book, JKR said that "they all were in love with the wrong persons" or something like that. As we've seen, that was right for Harry and Cho, but what if this will be valid for Hermione and Ron too? Then, until now, it seems to me that Ron is much more involved with Hermione than her. And I totally agree with Ceres (and SexyHotCookie) about the childest relationship H and R have. I noticed other clues, but I don't remember them right now! :wink: At last, I started to believe in a love triangle or something like that, which will be unexpected and pertinent to the whole story in a way...

I hope it is Harry and Hermione. They are my favorite characters in the story. I like Ron but he can have Luna. Harry needs Hermione. She is very smart and understands him. The only thing standing in the way is Ron. I don't think Harry wants to hurt him. I think it is very obvious Ron has got something for Hermoine but I think the next pretty face will be fine for Ron.

Harry just doesn't seem interested in Hermione that way. Now Hermione might have feelings for Harry, but I also thinks she cares more for Ron in that romantic way. I think that Hermione thinks it should be Harry, you know cause of who he is and how he needs comfort. But I think deep down, her heart is for Ron.

I have few things to say....on the first page of this thread i believe its ice mice that says a few things about the Harry/Hemione thing and alot of her points include times when ron is in the hopspital wing for injuries sustained in thier adventures. the only thing she proved to me was that ron is rather prone to accidents.
i am a ron/hermione shipper. i think that when you are starting to have relationships at the age of our three heroes things tend to be a bit immature, especially if you have never been in a relationship, but in harry and hermione's case, it is mature, becuase they are, like j.kr, said, platonic!

No, I personally dont think they would go together, but its only because i thik that ron and hermione will get together. Please check out the editorials at mugglenet as to why i think that! also because of all those hints in the movies and all that. but yeah! haha i know... not great reasoning but thats what i think

I know all the clues point to Hermione and Ron but I still want Harry to end up with Hermione. I guess Ginny would be okay. She understands Harry and has loved him since she was 10 but I still prefer Harry with Hermione.

I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper, but before any of you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screen, let me say that although I would be deeply offended if Ron and Hermione got together, I can really see it happening. My thoughts: they'll get together romantically, but it won't last long.

Harry hasn't been feeling anything except friendship towards Hermione, but it's a known fact that boys usually don't develop those feelings before girls do. It was puppy love he felt for Cho, but he and Hermione could easily have a long-term relationship going on later in the books.

I dont know. Harry doesnt seem to be interested that way at ALL toward Hermione. If a long-term relationship was to happen, something has to spark it right? So far, in 5 books, there hasnt been such a spark. I'm an H/H shipper too, well, for Fan Fic. But I highly doubt in the books they will actually get together.
