CHAPTER 1 JUST A JOKE

The doorbell rang… Lily Evans shot up in her bed; it was Sunday, who would be at their house at 10 in the morning? She didn’t think that Petunia was having friends over… Lily heard a scream down stairs. She pulled on a sweatshirt and went down stairs to find Petunia huddled in a corner with a frightened look on her face looking out the window.
“What is it sissy?” Lily went to the window, an owl was on her porch, and it had a letter tied to its feet. She walked to the door and went to open it when Petunia spoke for the first time since Lily had woke up.
“Are you insane? It’s a wild animal! You can’t touch it! Don’t even think about letting it inside, I’ll tell mom!”
“Relax Sis, it’s only an owl.” She opened the door and the owl flew to her shoulder, stuck out its leg and waited patiently for her to untie the letter. When she was done it flew back out the door, she watched it until it was gone before she looked at the envelope she had taken from it.
“Oh, very funny,” it was addressed to her, from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was probably just a joke. The kids at her school weren’t the nicest. And she wasn’t the coolest; she was actually a freak at her school. She had one friend, and she wasn’t even sure that her friend wanted to be friend, she probably just felt sorry for her.
“What is it?” Petunia asked, getting up and walking over to her.
“Just a joke,” Lily said as she ripped the envelope in half and threw it into the trashcan with out reading the letter. She bet Jake had sent it to her. He was a jerk to her the week before and she had told her friend that she wanted to turn him into a flying monkey or a toad.
“To bad you’re not a witch, I’m sure everyone thinks that’s what he deserves.” Her friend Emily had replied, Lily imagined that Emily had told everyone what she had said and now Jake was just playing pranks on her.
“Let’s fix breakfast before Mom and Dad get home,” Lily said. Her and Petunia went into the kitchen and pulled out the eggs. Petunia fixed herself cereal while Lily cracked the eggs and put them in the skillet, even though it probably wasn’t hot enough to cook them yet. She started to go through the drawers looking for a spatula to flip them with, When she found it she walked back to her eggs and stood over them thinking about how everyone at her school hated her. The eggs suddenly caught fire.
“You freak! Were you not paying attention to what you were doing? You’re going to kill us both!” Petunia screamed at her as she put out the fire. That was another thing; Lily’s sister thought that she was freak too… When they were younger Lily had gotten the doll Petunia wanted. Petunia took it and Lily got very angry and the next day the doll had turned green, no matter how hard Petunia tried to wash it the green never faded. Petunia had always thought that Lily had done it. But Lily was only 5 years old, how could she? Her parents believed her but Petunia never forgave her.
“I’m sorry, the… the,” Lily picked up the skillet to throw the burned eggs away, but the eggs weren’t burned, they hadn’t even started cooking yet. “Weird.”
“Yep you’re a freak,” Petunia stated and sat back down with her cereal.
The next day another owl delivered another letter. And the same thing happened the day after that. Lily never read the letters. She knew they were only pranks. But she couldn’t help but wonder how Jake had trained the owls to deliver the letters. It was a different owl each day and they all seemed to be doing this all their life. The owls still scared Petunia so Lily kept her window open for the owls to fly through. She loved how beautiful they were and when she tried to ignore them, they wouldn’t leave, they sat on her windowsill and tapped the glass until she opened it.
After a week of this her parents began getting annoyed.
“Lily, will you at least talk to the boy and tell him that you didn’t mean anything by that and ask him politely to stop?” Her dad asked finally.

That day at school Lily found Jake in the hallway before class. He was harassing some third grader who couldn’t get their locker open.
“Jake it’s the last day of 5th grade can’t you find someone else to pick on?” Lily asked him as she helped the boy open his locker.
“So a freak is standing up for a geek?” He asked as he folded his arms and stared at her.
“I need to talk to you, alone,” Lily said shortly ignoring his comment.
“What Evans?” He asked her as they walked over to the 5th grade hallway.
“Look, I’m sorry that I said that I going to turn you into a toad, I didn’t mean it. Now will you please stop sending those owls?” She it as fast as she could, she didn’t want to spend any more time talking to him then she had to.
“What owls?” He said with out looking at her.
“The owls you’ve been sending, with the letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?”
“Look, I haven’t been sending any owls,” he paused thinking for a minute. “And if I had to think of a school for freaks I would defiantly call it Pig Pimples, who uses the word hog anyway? Besides warts are disgusting.”
Lily had had it with his jokes. She grabbed his arm and pulled him to the wall. “You are going to stop sending me those prank letters! Got it?”
“Lily I had no idea you felt this way about me!” He exclaimed looking at her hand on his shoulder. She took it way and wiped it on her pants.
“You are sick! Now stop sending those letters or I’ll… I’ll… Call the cops.”
“Look I don’t know what fantasyland you are living in. I’m not sending you anything.”
She stared at him; he seemed to be telling the truth. She turned and walked to class with out saying another word.
She watched everyone that day to see if anyone else seemed to have a problem with her. She didn’t see anyone. She asked around at lunch to see if anyone had ever heard of Hogwarts, she even asked a few teachers, no one had.
When she got home she told her dad that Jake wasn’t sending the letters and no one at school knew who was. She handed him her report card, she had straight A’s as usual. Petunia had straight B’s as usual, they went out to dinner that night, Lily got to pick where since she had the better grades. When they got home five owls were on their front porch, along with five letters. Their front door had also been unlocked and cracked open.
Lily’s dad grabbed an umbrella from the car and held it as a weapon. He told the girls and his wife to stand back. He walked bravely to the door, pushed it open and let a scream escape his mouth. Lily’s mom ran to his side and also screamed. Lily heard a creak as if someone was walking over their hardwood floor. A shadow covered her parents, and then a giant appeared.

Chapter 2 THE UNINVITED VISITOR

“You must be Lily.” He said, looking at Lily. She nodded, took a step backwards and bumped into her sister who was now crying. She grabbed Petunia’s hand.
“Stay away you freak!!” She yelled. Lily thought she had said it to the man.
“Petunia! You can’t say that to him! You haven’t even met him! You don’t even know is name!” Lily exclaimed, surprised by her sisters rudeness. This man might have broken into their house, but he didn’t look like he would harm them. His eyes were warm and inviting. He had long tangled hair and a matching beard. He wore an old moleskin overcoat, and he carried a pink umbrella. For all Lily knew he could have been homeless, for some reason she didn’t think so, he looked like he was healthy and he looked very nice.
“Not him! You, first owls deliver you letters and now this… this freak breaks into our house! I hate you Lily, I wish I didn’t have a sister!”
With that she ran inside, up the stairs and to her room.
“I’m sorry, she’s a bit emotional,” Lily apologized to the stranger.
“That’s okay, Lily, so how about a cup of tea and I’ll answer your questions.”
“Excuse me, Sir, but what questions would I have for you, I don’t even know your name,” Lily asked politely.
“Oh, sorry, I am Rubeus Hagrid Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. But you can call me Hagrid, everyone does.”
“Hogwarts? You’ve been sending me those letters? Why?” Lily now had so many questions for this man she didn’t know where to begin.
“Professor Dumbledore, sent you the letters, and he sent me to make sure you’ve been reading them since you didn’t respond.”
“Sorry, I thought they were a joke.”
“It’s okay, so how bout that cup of tea?”
“Yes, here come on in, Hagrid,” Lily’s mother, Tonya, said as she walked inside.
A few minutes later they were seated in the kitchen sipping their tea.
“So what is Hogwarts?” Lily asked as Hagrid poured himself another cup of tea.
“It is a school for young witches and wizards to learn how to use their magic.” Hagrid said as he poured his third cup of tea.
“So it’s like a school for magicians?”
“You mean those muggles that pull rabbits out of hats? No, I mean like real witches and wizards.”
“Real witches and wizards don’t exist,” Petunia said. She had finally come down stairs, but she stayed far away from everyone and had been sitting quietly in the corner until now.
“Yes they do. I am a wizard and your sister is a witch and you are a muggle.”
“What’s a muggle?” Lily asked.
“A non-magic person.”
“How do you know that I’m a witch?” Lily asked, the question had been bothering her since Hagrid arrived.
“Lily, have you ever made anything happen? Anything you couldn’t explain?” Hagrid asked with a quizzical look.
Lily thought back to the first morning the letters had arrived, how the eggs caught fire but didn’t cook, “Yes.”
“There is your answer.” Hagrid said with a smile.
“So Lily won’t be as good as the other students at Hogwarts?” Her father, Harold asked.
“It don’t matter whether yer muggle-born or pureblood, they all are as good as each other if they practice and want ter be good,” Hagrid told them with a smile.
“So I’m not a freak? I really am a witch?”
“Yes you are witch, not a freak,” Hagrid said at the same time Petunia said, “No you are freak, not a witch.”
“So how much will this school cost?” Harold asked Hagrid.
“It doesn’t cost anything. And it starts on September first, and goes until June first. And Lily can come home for the holidays if she wants.”
“Oh, can I go mom please?” Lily pleaded to her mom.
“Yes you can go I guess,” Tonya answered.
“Okay, great, here is your letter so you can read it, your school list in there, along with your ticket and instructions on how to get to Diagon Alley. See you in a few weeks!” And with that the man disappeared with a small pop.

Chapter 3 THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS

Lily, her father, mother and her sister got out of the car at Kings Cross. Lily loaded her trunk full of all of her school supplies on to a cart. She had so much fun in Diagon Alley. She had been nervous at first because it would be the first time she shopped without her parents.
She and her family had driven to London for the day. Lily had pointed out the Leaky Cauldron, but her parents could only see an old bar. They took her word that it was where she needed to be though. She had walked to the bar and asked for Tom as Hagrid's letter had said to. He took her to the back and tapped random bricks with his wand.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley, Lily Evans." He said with a smile as the bricks disappeared before Lily's eyes. He pointed her to Gringotts the wizard bank to get some money and assured her that he would take care of her worrying parents.
She had gone to all the shops and gotten all her school supplies and then gone to Honeydukes with the money she had left and bought some wizard candy for her and her sister. Petunia had never gotten over the fact that her sister was a freak and wouldn't touch the candy. Lily had already read a few of her spell books and had even tried a few spells, none of them worked though. She figured they would once she got to school and had had a few lessons though.
"Lily, what platform do you leave from?" Her mom asked. Lily, hadn't looked at the ticket yet, she pulled it out, read the number and handed it to her mother.
"Nine and three quarters, who's ever heard of that?" Her mother asked as she grabbed the envelope and began going through it looking for another ticket for a platform that actually existed.
"Are you a first year dear?" A woman asked Lily. The woman looked kind and there was a boy behind her, he had brown eyes that Lily could look at forever and messy brown hair. He looked away from Lily when he realized that she was staring at him and she realized she hadn't answered the woman yet.
"Oh, yes," Lily answered blushing.
"Don't worry, so is my son James here. Are you a muggle-born? Not that I care, just wondering if you were having problems finding the platform."
"Oh, yes, I am. Can you help me?" Lily asked sweetly.
"Yes of course, come along down to platforms 9 and 10."
"But the ticket says 9 and three quarters," Lily started to say but the woman turned quickly and covered Lily's mouth.
"Please do not talk so loud, you don't want muggles to hear you, except your parents; they are fine. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you dear," She said when she realized Lily had started breathing heavily after the woman had turned so quickly. James laughed at how easily she had been scared.
When they arrived at platforms 9 and 10, the woman explained how to get platform nine and three quarters. Apparently you ran at a solid brick wall and went through it. James went first he pushed his trolley right through the brick wall, Petunia ran over to the wall and patted it in disbelief, and it appeared to be a regular wall. Lily hugged her parent's good-bye and tried to hug Petunia but she backed away, then she grabbed her trolley and ran through the wall with her eyes closed. When she opened them she was on a whole new platform, her parents and James's mother had disappeared. She looked up at a sign above her and it said Platform 9 ¾ The Hogwarts Express. She looked at the train. It was a beautiful red steam engine. She looked around and saw kids hugging their parents and getting on the train. She pulled her trolley over and lifted her trunk onto the train. She pulled it down the corridor looking for a compartment that wasn't already full; she found one and pulled her trunk in. She was trying to lift to the overhead compartment when there was a knock on the door. She looked through the glass and saw James, she felt herself turning red. She put her trunk down and let him in.
"Need some help?" He asked. Before she could answer he had lifted her trunk in the compartment.
"Thanks," she tried to make her face less red.
"The only reason I helped is because my mom told me to help you; she said you seemed like a freak. What's the L.E. stand for any way? Loser Elephant?" He laughed at his own joke.
"Lily Evans," She answered, did his mom really think that she was a freak? "So what's your name Mr. High and Mighty?"
"Potter, James Potter," he said.
"Where was your dad?" Lily asked trying to start a conversation with him.
"Work," he answered shortly.
"What does he do?"
"What are you a stalker? It's none of your business!"
"I'm sorry, I'm muggle born and I don't know what wizard jobs are," She called after him, but he was already outside in the corridor talking to another first year boy. They talked for a second and then sat down in the compartment across from Lily. The boy James sat with had dark eyes and dark hair down to his shoulders. He looked cute, but not as cute as James.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" A girl with curly brown hair and green eyes asked Lily pointing to the seat across from her.
"Sure," Lily and the girl put her trunk up with Lily's and then sat down.
"My name is Lauren by the way, Lauren Mainous."
"I'm Lily Evans," Lily smiled at the girl and they started talking about their homes. Lauren was the daughter of a witch and a muggle. She didn’t know any magic and unlike Lily she hadn’t touched any of her school books yet. But Lily guessed that was because she had grown up in a magical environment.
“Can I sit with you guys?” A girl with straight blonde hair stood in the doorway of the compartment.
“Sure,” answered Lauren and Lily. The girl walked in and the three of them lifted her trunk up with the other two. Lily glanced over to James’s compartment. Two other boys had joined him and his friend. One had dark blonde hair and warm brown eyes. The other was rather plump and had light brown hair and a nervous look on his face.
“My name is Taylor Gainey. How about you girls?” They talked for a few minutes when another girl entered their compartment named Holly Rose.
When the train started moving they began telling each other about their lives at home. Taylor and Holly were both pureblood witches. They had both known each other since they were five years old and were complete opposites yet best friends.
Lily glanced over at the boys’ compartment. They seemed to be playing chess, but they weren’t touching the chess pieces, they moved on their own, one of the knights crushed another and Lily gasped.
“That’s wizard’s chess,” Holly answered Lily’s thoughts.
“And that is Sirius Black with James Potter,” said Taylor pointing at the boy with the dark hair and matching eyes. “And the one with the blonde hair is Remus Lupin and the nervous one is Peter Pettigrew, I think. Doesn’t Sirius look great?”
“I Remus look’s better,” said Holly.
“I kind of like James,” Lily quietly said blushing.
“Really? You do? I’ll go ask him out for you!” Holly got up and was out of the compartment before Lily could stop her.
“No! What is she doing? I don’t want her to ask him!” Lily told Taylor.
“Well you said you liked him!”
“Well that doesn’t give her permission to do that.”
“Well sorry, Holly is a little boy crazy.” Taylor said as Holly walked back in.
“He said that if you wanted to go out with him you should ask him yourself.”
“Well I didn’t even want you to ask him!”
The girls sat in an angry silence until they got to Hogwarts a half hour later. Lily continued to watch the boys play wizards chess, while Lauren looked out the window watching trees go by. Taylor and Holly both played with their hair until the train finally screeched to a stop.

Chapter 4 The First Day

“Firs’ years this way!” A voice called over the crowd. Taylor, Holly, Lauren and Lily had started talking again when they got off the train and were best friends now. They fought through the crowd toward Hagrid who was holding a lantern and calling for the first years.
“Hi Lily,” Hagrid called to her. She waved at him and stood with the other first years. “This way, firs’ years lets head to ter the boats! Eight to a boat please!”
Taylor, Holly, Lauren and Lily stepped into a boat and were followed by James, Sirius, Remus and Peter. The boat was silent as it was magically propelled across the lake.
When they got to the school, they were lead through to the Great Hall and were called up one by one to wear a hat that shouted a house. James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Taylor, Holly, and Lauren were all put into Gryffindor.
“Lily Evans!” The teacher next the hat shouted. Lily’s mouth went dry. Se hoped she didn’t get Slytherin. She heard that was a bad house. She really wanted to be Gryffindor with her friends, but she also thought that Ravenclaw might be a fun house too.
She sat on the three legged stool and put the hat on her head.
“Hmm…” A voice said in her ear. “You are very smart I see, smarter than most I see… Ah, straight A’s at your muggle school… But you are very brave… A lot of courage I see… You would be great in either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor… Which would suit you best in I wonder?”
“Hurry up,” Lily muttered to the hat, it had taken longer on her than anyone else and people were looking annoyed. She hated it when people were mad or annoyed with her. She had never been in any trouble at her school before.
“Very bold to ask me to hurry, aren’t you… You want to please everyone… You have a good a heart too; you may make a fine a Hufflepuff, no?”
“Just pick one,” James and Sirius had begun arm wrestling.
“GRYFFINDOR!”
Lily took of the hat and ran to the Gryffindor table. She took the empty seat between Taylor and Lauren. She looked across the table and found herself staring straight at James. She turned bright red and looked away quickly as Dumbledore made some quick announcements and then food appeared on the table. James took one of everything and stuffed his mouth with mashed potatoes while Sirius and Remus did the same. Peter looked unsure, and then he decided to do the same.
“You all are disgusting,” Lauren stated.
“Thanks,” Sirius said and let potatoes drip out of his mouth. Taylor made a gagging noise and Sirius turned a slight shade of pink. When they had finished eating they followed their prefect to their dormitory. The got the password (Sugar Quills) and went straight to bed. Lily, Lauren, Holly, and Taylor shared a room. They found that their trunks had already been delivered. They changed and crawled into bed.

~~~
“Lily, Lily wake up, you don’t want to be late do you?” Lauren spoke quietly shaking Lily.
“I’m up, how much time do we have before our first class?” Lily asked drowsily. She ran her hand through her red hair and pulled into a ponytail as she sat up.
“Well, about an hour and a half,” Lauren said guiltily.
“What? You woke us up an hour early? Are you insane? We don’t want to look tired our first day!” Holly shouted at Lauren as Taylor lay back down and pulled her covers over her head.
“Well go back to bed if you want. You heard what Emma said, allow a half hour to get ready the first day because you are certain to get lost with the moving staircases,” Lauren replied. Lily hopped out of bed and began dressing in her new Hogwarts robes, identical to Laurens. When she was finished, she and Lauren went down to breakfast alone.
“They are so rude!” Lauren said angrily.
“Well maybe they just aren’t morning people,” Lily said in defense of her new room mates.
“Well I’m just not sure that I’ll be able to like them and trust them as quickly as you have,” Lauren said as they walked carefully down the stairs they weren’t sure what they would if they moved.
“Well everyone deserves a chance, and a second chance, and a third chance if they really mean their apology.”
“I don’t know, people have to earn there trust with me.”
“Evans! Hey, Evans, wait up!” Lily and Lauren turned around, James Potter ran to catch up with them. When he did he ran his hand through his hair to make even messier than it already was.
“What James?” Lily asked.
“Well? Didn’t you want to ask me something?” James looked straight into her green eyes. He couldn’t help it; they were so beautiful.
Lily shook her head, she couldn’t think of anything. Then she realized that he was probably wondering if she still wanted to go out with him. She had made her mind up last night that she would never go out with him. When she had first met him she had thought that he was cute but after she had talked to him a little last night she had realized that he was an immature jerk that she would never go out with.
“Well, fine be stubborn. Lily Evans will you be my girlfriend?” He smiled at her and ran his hand through his hair again.
“No,” Lily said shortly and continued walking, Lauren at her side.
“You like me last night on the train,” He called after her, still standing on the steps.
“That was before I knew you,” she called, without looking behind her.
When Lauren and Lily got to lunch they got their schedules from Professor McGonagall.
“What do we have first?” Lauren asked Lily as she grabbed some bacon and put it on her plate.
“Transfiguration, with Professor McGonagall, and then we have Defense Against the Dark Arts with Professor Weikel, and then Charms with Professor Flitwick. After that its lunch and then we have Herbology with Professor Sprout and then Potions with Professor Slughorn and then we are done for the day.” Lily read off the schedule as she put some eggs on her plate.
“Sounds like fun,” Lauren said as Taylor and Holly walked in to the Great Hall.
“Morning sleepy heads,” Lily said smiling when they sat across from her. Holly gave a huge yawn and grabbed some toast.
“Morning,” Taylor said groggily. She poured herself some orange juice and looked at her schedule.
“We only have one class with the Hufflepuff’s and that’s Transfiguration!” Holly complained.
“Well what’s the matter with that?” Lily asked as she took a bite of toast.
“Well all the good looking guys are in Hufflepuff and you know that McGonagall won’t let us talk!”
“Holly,” Lauren giggled, “We are only 11 and the guys will be with us this year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that for the next seven years! Relax!”
Holly turned red and muttered something under her breath.
They left the hall when they were finished and started heading for Transfiguration. Lily and Lauren took seats in the front row, Taylor and Holly took seats towards the back.
“I am not doing their homework for them, if that’s what they are thinking,” said Lauren as she pulled out her wand, parchment, quill, and Basic Spells Year One.
“Well, maybe they already know a lot since they grew up in the wizard world,” said Lily as James and Sirius walked in and took the seats behind Lily, and Lauren.
“Evans… Evans… Evans…” James whispered at Lily as she did her best to ignore him, he threw an empty ink well at the back of her neck.
“What Potter?” she asked angrily, as she rubbed her now sore neck.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go out with me?”
“Yes, know leave me alone,” Lily said as she turned back around. There was a cat on the teacher’s desk. Lily wondered what its name was. She had always loved animals. As she continued to stare at it, it continued to stare at her. Then it leapt off the desk and turned into their professor, some people in the class gasped others applauded.
“Good morning class,” Professor McGonagall greeted them calmly.
“Good morning Professor,” they answered in awe.
“In this class, through out your seven years at Hogwarts, you will learn many things. You will learn to turn animals into objects. You will learn to turn objects into animals. If you are up to it, in sixth year, we change our appearances. I am not talking drastic changes of course. We start just by changing our eyebrows to different colours, and… Yes Mr. Potter?”
“Do we learn to turn to become animals like you just did?”
“No, you have to be of age to be an animagus, and you have to register with the Ministry and take a class there with them before you may even attempt it.”
“Are there books in the library on to become an animagus?” James asked eagerly.
“I’m sure you might find a few. Mr. Potter, you aren’t going to try and attempt it are you? If it is done wrong it could be deadly,” Professor McGonagall said with a worried look on her face.
“No, Professor, I was just wondering because I may want to become an animagus someday, when I’m old enough of course,” he added quickly.
Through the rest of the class they took notes on the rules in that classroom. All of their classes were pretty much the same. They learned what they would be doing in all the years they were at Hogwarts and then they took notes for all of the different rooms. The only class where they did any thing fun was in Potions with Professor Slughorn.
“Welcome class!” Slughorn said with a smile. “How are we today? This class is guaranteed to be fun if you pay attention and do what you are told. So lets get started shall we? First let me split you into pairs, um, girls over on the right side of the room and boys on the left.” They did as they were told; he went down the rows and let each of them choose a number out of a hat. Lily drew a 13.
“Okay, now, who has number one?” Holly and Remus Lupin both raised their hands. “Let’s see Miss Rose and Mr. Lupin sit here. Number two? Okay you sit here.”
When he finally got up to number eleven there were only three boys and three girls left: Taylor, Lauren and Lily, and James, Sirius, and Peter.
Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback!! I hope you like this chapter! And I will try and post a nex chapter every other day! I'll be sure to put it in my signature though!! Please leave feedback HERE!!
Chapter 5 Potions
“Okay number eleven?” Taylor went and sat with Peter, she looked disgusted, and she shared a table with two Slytherins who didn’t look very nice either. “And number twelve?” Taylor and Sirius went and sat at the last empty table. Lily didn’t want to be stuck with James all year. She swore she couldn’t work with them. He had goofed off all day in all of her classes; he was going to ruin her perfect report card!
“And I guess that leaves Miss Lily and James!” Lily sat down next to James with her cauldron. Well, at least I get to share a table with Lauren, she thought to her self.
“Well, know that we have our partners, oh, yes Taylor?”
“These are just our partners for the semester right?” She said with a smile.
“Oh, well, no, these are actually your partners for the seven years you are here.” The entire class groaned. “Oh, now come on, you may hate them now, but just think, you could be best friends by the end of the year!” Another groan. “Well, I offer this every year, at the end of each semester, if both partners, can not work together, and there are two pairs then I will allow the pairs to switch partners.” The last of Lily’s hope faded; there was no way James would want to switch. He had already asked her out five times today.
“So let’s get started,” Slughorn tapped the blackboard, writing appeared. “Instructions are on the board along with ingredients. Use one cauldron to fix the potion and you can put the other on the floor if you want, work with your partner and you have an hour which should be more than enough time. Oh and one more thing before you get started! The grindylow kidney is poisonous if it is eaten or if it touches the skin, its not deadly, it just, well, it’s better if you don’t know, so where your dragon hide gloves when you use it.”
“Okay I’ll get the ingredients and you, you just, just put your cauldron on the floor,” Lily said, she was just going to do the whole potion on her own. There was no way he was going touch anything. Lily and Lauren went to the supply closet and got the ingredients to make The Draught of Fantasy.
“Sir,” asked Lily as Professor Slughorn walked past her, “Sir what does The Draught of Fantasy do exactly?”
“Oh, it makes your dreams show your hearts fantasy, like your secret dream, sometimes you don’t even know that what you see is what you want,” he said with a wink.
“So do we get to drink some before we leave today?” Lauren asked excitedly.
“Yes, you all get to take one night’s worth with you. And you don’t drink it; you pour it on your pillow!”
“I bet you see me Evans,” James whispered to her when Slughorn walked away.
“I bet I see you dead,” Lily answered. James looked upset and he went back to arm-wrestling Sirius.
Lily put her dragon hide gloves on and began cutting the grindylow kidney. When she was finished she dumped it into the cauldron and the potion turned a hot pink like the instructions said they should. She set the rest of the kidney to the side, the instructions said she would use more later.
“Miss Evans? Have you been letting Mr. Potter help? I’m sure he won’t ruin it.” Slughorn was standing behind her. She handed James the knife, dragon hide gloves and pointed to the kidney.
“Cut. Even pieces. Now,” She demanded as she continued to stir the potion three times to the left and three to the right. It was slowly turning a dark purple as the instructions had said.
“Cut, even pieces, now,” James mocked her in a girlish voice. Sirius laughed. Lauren had finally given up and decided to let him help. James began cutting them and whistling as he did so. Sirius began laughing harder. James scooped some kidney into the bowl and turned to take it to the sink and rinse it with warm water, when he stood up so did the person behind him. James tripped over the person’s foot and the bowl went soaring through the air.
“OUCH!! GET IT OFF!!”
Chapter 6 The Hospital Wing
“Oh no, Evans I am so sorry!” James shouted he knew sorry wouldn’t help; she already had purple boils the size of golf balls forming on her face where the grindylow kidney had hit it.
“Oh my gosh, Lily! Professor Slughorn, help!” Lauren ran around the table to grab Lily before she fell to the floor. Professor Slughorn picked up Lily and ran her to the hospital wing.
~~~

“Where am I?” Lily asked, she tried to sit up, but collapsed back onto the pillows that were propping her up.
“Evans, I am so sorry,” James was sitting next to her.
“Where am I?” Lily repeated, she was scared, she couldn’t remember a thing that had happened and now she was in some bed and James was sitting next to her.
“The Hospital Wing,” James answered her with a guilty look on his face.
“Why? What happened?” Why couldn’t she remember what had happened?
“Well, I kind of dropped some poisonous grindylow liver on you, and you kind of got all these boils on your skin and well…” James trailed off.
“What?” Lily grabbed the mirror next to her bed. Her face looked normal, maybe a little pale, but she was in the hospital, she may just be sick.
“Well the nurse gave you some medicine and it made it better and she said that it might make you forget what happened for a while,” James said hurriedly.
“How long have I been here?” Lily asked.
“A month,” James answered her shortly.
“WHAT?!?” Lily jumped up from her bed and was about to run to her dormitory when James grabbed her.
“Relax, it’s only been thirty minutes!” James said with a smile. Lily smacked him across the face as hard as she could. “What was that for?” He asked with a shocked look on his face, his cheek slowly turning red where she had smacked it.
“Don’t you ever tell me that I have been in the hospital for a month!” She screamed at him. She couldn’t imagine having to make up a months worth of homework.
“Evans, I’m sorry, I knew that you were a teachers pet, but I didn’t know that you loved school that much,” he said with a grin. Lily considered hitting him again but decided against it.
“Potter shut up, and leave me alone,” Lily said. She wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. He turned to leave and was half way to the door when he stopped.
“I forgot, I finished this, we got an outstanding and this is your night’s worth, so you can dream of me.” He smiled and threw her a glass vile full of a clear blue liquid.
“I hate you Potter! I always will I swear! You will always be the one and only one that I hate for all eternity and a month!” She screamed at him.
“You’ll love me one day,” said James as he turned to leave, Lily threw her pillow at him and lay back down, she began to cry.
About ten minutes later her friends Lauren, Taylor, and Holly came to visit, she wasn’t in the mood to talk so she pretended to be asleep.
“The nurse said that she can come back tonight if she feels up to it,” Taylor whispered to them.
“Well, I can’t believe that James was clumsy enough to spill that on her,” Holly said as she sat on the edge of her bed.
“Well, now we know one thing for sure, Lily and James will never be together, Lily will never forgive him,” Taylor said sadly.
“Yes she will,” Lauren said in a positive voice.
“What makes you say that?” Holly asked.
“Because Lily told me this morning, she always gives people a chance, and a second chance, and sometimes a third if she thinks they deserve it.”
“Well, she might forgive him, but I doubt that they will ever go out.” Holly said.
“I know, he is so immature, just like his friends, but at least he is more mature than Sirius. I could see Lily going out with Lupin though, he seems to be a good student, her type,” Lauren said thoughtfully.
“Well I heard James and Sirius talking today in the common room earlier, and I don’t think that James is going to give up, by the sound of it he’s going to ask her out everyday until she breaks down and says yes.”
“That will never happen,” Lily said as she sat up. She hugged her friends and then they got her books and headed for the Gryffindor common room.

Lil Cougar
Hey everyone, this is where she uses the Draught of Fantasy... I hope I did a good job... Let me know in the FEEDBACK thread!!

Chapter 7 The Draught of Fantasy

“Well, do you think we should use it tonight?” Holly asked eagerly as they were putting on their pajamas.
“Well, Slughorn said that it was ours to use whenever we wanted. And I don’t know what I want and I am really eager to know so I’m using mine tonight,” Taylor said.
“I’m scared to use mine, what if Potter poisoned it or something?” Lily asked as she sat her Draught of Fantasy on her dresser and got into bed.
“Lily, I watched him do it, I even helped him, and I actually did most of it know that I think about it. He didn’t poison it, I swear,” Lauren reassured her.
“Okay, well if your sure, I’ll use mine tonight with you guys,” Lily said as she grabbed the vile and uncorked it. Her friends did the same and they poured it on their pillows. Lily was amazed, her whole pillow turned the light blue color of the potion and then it went back to the plain white, she felt it, it was dry.
“You’ll get used to it Lily. I had almost forgotten that you were muggle-born,” Holly said as she lay down.
They said good night and then slowly they slipped into their dreams. Lily saw herself. She had to be at least seventeen; she looked like she was in Gryffindor common room. She was on the couch starring into the fire; she looked like she was thinking hard about something. Lily was the only one in the common room; it must have been late at night. A boy who looked her age came down the stairs, he had messy brown hair and brown eyes, and it was James Potter. His mouth moved as if he were saying something and Lily answered him, silently. James sat next to Lily on the couch. They began talking, but they weren’t making any sounds. Lily figured it was some strange thing that the potion did. James scooted closer to Lily and put his arm around her. Lily put her head on his shoulder. They continued to look into the fire, they didn’t say anything to each other for a while, then Lily said something and looked up at James, he said something with a smile, Lily smiled, and James kissed her.
Everything went black and the eleven year old Lily woke up.
“Finally, Lily, we were afraid you weren’t going to wake up,” Holly said with a worried look.
“You guys should have shaken me or something!” Lily sat up.
“We tried,” Taylor said.
“Slughorn did say that was a side effect of the potion, you may not wake up for a while,” Lauren said.
“Is it also a side effect for the dreams to be silent?” Lily asked she hadn’t liked her dream at all. There was no way that she would ever kiss James; she couldn’t imagine what she had said for him to think it was okay to kiss her.
“Yes, but that’s beside the point, what was your dream about?” Lauren asked her happily.
“Oh, you know, just um, I got the highest grades possible all seven years that I was here,” Lily lied; she couldn’t tell them that she had dreamed about James, she would never hear the end of it!
“That’s cool, I had a dream that I was a mermaid, I have always wanted to be a mermaid, ever since I was a little girl,” Taylor said.
“I was an Unspeakable at the Ministry of Magic, I’ve always thought that would be a fun job,” Holly said.
“I was married and I had a big family and everyone was happy, that’s what I’ve always wanted, since I’m an only child and my parents are divorced,” Lauren said.
“Well, those sound better than mine, all that I have ever wanted was to do well in school,” Lily said.
“How much longer do we have until class?” Holly asked.
“About an hour,” Lauren told her.
“Well let’s get down to breakfast early, and then we can go out by the lake or explore the castle or something,” Lily said as she climbed out of her bed.
They got dressed and went down to breakfast. The rest of the day was pretty much the same as the day before, they still weren’t using magic in any of their classes, when James asked Professor McGonagall when they would use magic she told him that they would start next week. When they got to potions at the end of the day Professor Slughorn greeted them with a smile.
“So how many of you used your Draughts of Fantasy last night?” The entire class raised their hands.
“How many of you had unexpected dreams?” Lily was about to raise her hand when she remembered that she had lied to her friends. She looked around no one had had an unexpected dream, or at least no one would admit it.
“Well here is your potion for today,” he tapped the black board and instructions appeared. “And it is due at the end of class.”
“Bet you dreamed of me didn’t you Evans?” James asked with a smirk.
“No, actually I dreamed that I got the best grades I could possibly get through all seven years,” she said with out looking at him, she was afraid he could tell that she was lying.
“Well I dreamed that we were going out,” James stated.
“You know that will never happen,” Lily said determinedly.
“Well, you never know,” James said as he began cutting the roots from a bouncing bulb. Today they were making a potion called Glorious Giggles.
“Sir, what does this potion do?” Lily asked as Slughorn walked by their table.
“Basically, it gives a serious case of the giggles, and makes you very happy, sometimes so happy you can’t think straight.”
“Do we get to use it?” James asked him trying to look innocent.
“No, we had an accident last year were a guy and girl got so happy that they, well, never mind, lets just say that we aren’t allowed to use the potion at school anymore,” Slughorn said as he walked away.
Lily and James were the first ones done with their potion, Professor Slughorn gave them a glass vile to put a sample in and told them that they could clean up and talk quietly for the rest of class. Lily went to take the vile from Slughorn but James beat her to it.
“You just go sit and relax Evans, I’ll clean up, you can go read or something, what ever it is you like doing.” When James turned around to go and get their potion cleaned up Lily swore that she saw him pick up another vile. It must have been my imagination; she thought and pushed it to the back of her mind. She took her seat and pulled a spell book and began to read it.
James came back and sat next to her when he was done. He watched her read for a few minutes, then he tapped Lily lightly on the shoulder, she jumped a mile, the next thing he knew he had been smacked across the face.
“What was that for?” He asked angrily.
“Don’t touch me! Especially when I am reading! What do you want?” Lily’s breathing was heavy from where she was trying to calm herself.
“Well, sorry Evans,” he said sarcastically. Lily went to go back to her reading. “Evans will you go out with me?”
“No,” she said without looking up. She continued to read about Patronus charms.

Chapter 8 GLORIOUS GIGGLES

Almost three weeks had passed and nothing really exciting happened. James had managed to ask Lily out everyday, James also found someone that he could pick on, Severus Snape, who was in their year but he was in Slytherin, and he sat with Taylor and Peter in potions. James and his friends called him Snivellus. Lily couldn’t see why they always picked on him. She didn’t like him but he hadn’t done anything wrong to them. He was second best in potions behind her.
It was Saturday and they had the day off. Lily and Lauren sat next to the lake with their toes in the water. James and his friends sat under a tree not far from Lily.
“How did you do on McGonagall’s test?” Lauren asked giggling, they had been tested on how well they could turn matches into needles the day before.
“I got an Outstanding, how about you?” Lily said as she glanced over at James and his friends.
“Acceptable, again,” she said still giggling; she had been giggling since lunch. Lily figured that she was just in a good mood.
James was sitting with his back against the three, Sirius right beside him, Remus was sitting Indian style and Peter lay on back staring up at the sky. They looked as if they were discussing something. Lauren tried to say something but Lily shushed her. Lily scooted a little bit towards the boys, she couldn’t help it, they looked like they were discussing something important and she wanted to know what it was.
“So tonight Remus?” Sirius asked.
“Yes,” Lupin answered softly, he didn’t look like he felt good at all.
“Cool,” James said.
“No, not cool, it hurts,” Remus said.
“Well, I think it would be cool, I mean once a month for three days you miss school, and you get to go to Hogsmeade? That’s awesome! I wish I could come with you!” James said excitedly.
“Well, it’s not fun! And it could be dangerous if you went!” Remus said with a worried look on his face. Sirius scooted over to James and whispered something in his ear, all three boys looked at Lily who immediately turned red, she looked away.
“Evans!” James called.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but what ever you’re planning, it sounds dangerous and you best not do it!” Lily said hurriedly.
“Don’t worry, Remus won’t hurt you,” James said, Sirius punched him. Lily was totally confused.
“What?” Lily said.
“I mean his rabbit won’t hurt you, he has a little furry problem, but he won’t hurt you, I mean the rabbit won’t hurt you.”
“What?” Lily asked again.
“Will you go out with me?” James asked her. When Lily was about to answer she saw that a baby turtle in the lake was trying to bite her toe, she picked it up and chucked it at James head.
“Ow! What was that for?” He asked rubbing his head where the turtle had hit him.
“I was attempting to knock some sense into you, but I don’t think that will work. But your answer is no,” Lily said as she got up and started walking farther down the lake, Lauren right behind her still giggling.
“So what were they saying?” Lauren asked her between giggles when they sat down.
“Um, something about an evil rabbit that belongs to Lupin and he leaves a school once a month to go to Hogsmeade or something… He told James he couldn’t come though because it was too dangerous or something.” Lily said. Lauren began to giggle harder.
“A rabbit?” She began to giggle harder.
“Lauren are you ok?” Lily asked, Lauren was slowly turning blue; she looked like she was giggling so hard she couldn’t breathe.
“Lauren, breathe, take deep breaths!” Lily shook her friend, then tried to throw water on her, then she slapped her. “LAUREN! HELP SOMEONE HELP!”
Lauren had stopped giggling, she lay there silently, eyes closed, her chest barely moving, and then she started to twitch like she was having a seizure. James and his friends came running over.
“What happened?” asked Sirius.
“She just started laughing so hard she stopped breathing, and then she passed out and now she is having seizures!”
“She needs to go to the Hospital Wing,” James said as he picked her up. They all started running towards the school. All of a sudden Sirius stopped.
“Uh-oh, um, Lily, did you drink lemonade for lunch?” Sirius asked, James had a look of horror on his face.
“No, I had water today, Lauren had the lemonade, we decided to switch today.” Lily said she was really confused now. Why did they want to know what she had drunk at lunch?
“Oh no,” James said looking down at Laurens limp body.
“What did you do?” Lily screamed at him.
“We better take her to Slughorn mate,” Sirius said and they began sprinting away.
“What did you do? What did they do?” Lily asked turning to Peter and Remus who looked as confused as she did.
“I don’t know, we better hurry,” Remus said as he ran off grabbing Lily’s hand and dragging her off with him, Peter right behind them. When they reached Professor Slughorn’s office James, Sirius and Lauren were already there.
“What happened?” Slughorn asked her, as he opened Laurens mouth and put an anti-dote in it.
“I-I don’t know, she began to giggle after lunch,” Lily started but Slughorn interrupted her.
“Continuously giggling or on and off?”
“On and off, I thought she was just in a good mood, but then she started giggling and she wouldn’t stop, she stopped breathing Sir, I didn’t know what to do, and then they started asking what I had had to drink at lunch and, and, Sir, she will be okay won’t she?” Lily asked horrified.
“That depends,” Slughorn said softly, then he turned to the boys and began screaming, “WHAT DID YOU DO?”
“We, we, stole the Glorious Giggle potion,” Sirius started.
“And we were going to give it to Lily,” James continued.
“So that Lily would say yes to James.”
“So we put it in her lemonade.”
“But Lauren drank the lemonade.”
“AND NOW MY BEST FRIEND ISN’T BREATHING,” Lily screamed at both of them. Without thinking she walked over and began to hit James and Sirius as hard as she could. She was crying, Slughorn grabbed her and sat her in a chair. She began to cry harder.
“Boys, do you not remember me saying that the effects of the potion become stronger as time passes and that it is to be used immediately after you brew it?” Slughorn asked them. They shook their heads and whispered “No.”
“And do you not remember me saying that you are not to take potions or potion ingredients without permission?” They shook their heads again.
“You will both serve detention everyday next week, 8 o’ clock, my dungeon. And Lily?” He said.
“Yes, Sir?” she said looking up at him.
“I think you should join them, you shouldn’t hit your classmates, no matter what they did.”
“Yes Sir,” Lily said as the door to his office opened.
“What happened?” Taylor said and Holly gasped and ran over to Lauren.
“They gave her a potion, and she giggled and stopped breathing, but she’ll be okay,” Remus said, Lily had forgotten that he was in there with them.
“Lauren should wake up in about a half an hour, if you'd like to carry her to the hospital wing,” Slughorn said. Sirius picked her up and everyone, including Slughorn headed for the hospital. Slughorn explained what had happened to Madam Pomfrey and then left. The boys sat on one side of Lauren and the girls sat on the other. They were silent until she woke up.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“You’re in the hospital, James and Sirius gave you a potion and you sort of passed out,” Lily explained.
“Oh,” she said and she sat up.
“Sorry,” Sirius and James said at the same time.
“Don’t worry, I beat them up for you,” Lily said trying to cheer her friend up, and her self, she had never had a detention before, and especially a whole week of them.
“I’m not sure you could consider what you did beating up,” James said.
“Yeah, I think you could do better,” Sirius said.
“Did you get in trouble Lily?” Lauren asked as she saw the sadness in Lily’s eyes.
“A week of detentions,” Lily choked, she couldn’t hold back anymore, she started to cry. Lauren grabbed her hand and squeezed it hard.
“I’m sorry Lily,” Lauren said sympathetically. James got up and sat in the chair next to Lily and grabbed her other hand. Lily was too upset to care.
“Lily, detention isn’t all that bad, and you’re a good student, your Slughorn’s best, I’m sure he’ll let you off, and you’ll probably only have to come to one.” James said trying to calm her.
“I don’t think so,” she sobbed.
“Well, it was kind of funny that you tried to beat us up,” Sirius said also trying to comfort her.
Lily finally began to calm down. She couldn’t imagine what her parents would say when they found out she had a detention. They sat in silence for a while.
“Remus, it’s getting darker outside, are you ready?” Madam Pomfrey asked.
“Yes,” Remus got up and told them bye, then walked out the door behind Madam Pomfrey.
“Where is he going?” Lauren asked.
“To take care of his furry little problem,” James said shortly.
“The evil rabbit?” Lily asked.
“Yes,” Sirius answered.
“Why does he get to leave school to take care of it?” Holly asked.
“Um, well, because it’s very vicious,” James said.
“Okay,” Lily said slowly, she wasn’t sure that she believed them.
“Let’s go to bed, it’s almost 9:30 and I have some homework,” James said as he faked a yawn.
“Lauren will you be okay?” Lily asked.
“Yes, I’m really tired any way,” Lauren answered. The girls hugged good-bye and then everyone but Lauren went up to the Gryffindor common room.
They all sat by the fire; James did his homework along with Sirius and Peter, Lily and Remus who had both finished theirs both read books. Holly and Taylor braided each other’s hair.
“Hey, who’s that?” Lily said looking out the window; there were two figures down by the new Whomping Willow. She got up to go get a better look when James jumped up and ran in front of her.
“Lily, will you go out with me?”
“No, now move I want to see who is down there,” she tried to push past him.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, now move,” Lily tried to push past him again, this time he grabbed her around the waist and hugged her.
“GET OFF ME!”
“Are you sure? You know you like it,” he said as he let go.
“You are sick! What is your problem? What do you not want me to see out there?” James looked over his shoulder, he didn’t see anything down on the grounds, and he shrugged and went and sat down next to Sirius who was laughing very hard. Lily looked out the window again but nothing was there. She didn’t know that when she turned around Madam Pomfrey came back out of the tree.

Chapter 9 DETENTION

“Hey, James, Sirius, we better go, we don’t want to be late,” Lily said as she walked over to the armchairs where James and Sirius sat playing wizard’s chess.
“Yeah one sec, Queen to H five,” The Queen moved and smashed Sirius’s King. “Check mate,” James said with a smile.
“Let’s go, I don’t want to be late,” Lily said looking toward the portrait hole.
“And we don’t want to be early,” Sirius said with a grin. He and James finished cleaning up their game and then the three of them headed out the portrait hole.
“Hey Evans, will you go out with me?” James asked Lily as they were walking down the hall.
“You already asked me today,” Lily said.
“Did you change your mind?”
“No,” Lily said looking him straight in the eye. They walked in silence for a while and then James suddenly stopped causing Lily and Sirius to run into him.
“Dudes this is a secret passage! My dad told me about it! It leads to the dungeon,” James said excitedly. Lily looked at the spot he was looking at, it wasn’t really special, there was a suit of armor, next to a full length picture of a wizard wearing hot pink robes and holding a cauldron with purple bubbles coming out of it.
“Dude lets try it,” Sirius said excitedly.
“No, no way am I following you two juvenile delinquents into a secret passage that we heard about from your father, its not safe and we already going to be late as it is,” Lily said.
“No one invited you Evans,” Sirius said.
“Yeah,” James said then he seemed to change his mind, “Unless of course you just want to come.”
“No, I’ll go the normal way and I won’t get in trouble,” Lily said definitely.
“Suit your self,” Sirius said as James pulled out his wand and tapped the suit of armor, the picture swung open to reveal a narrow tunnel that James and Sirius immediately climbed through. The portrait started to close, then it stopped, “Sure you don’t want to go sweetly?” it asked.
“No, I don’t want to,” Lily said and continued to walk. She looked down at her watch, she only had five minutes to get all the way to the dungeon and she was on the third floor now, she began to run.
“Miss Evans you’re late,” Professor Slughorn said as Lily ran into the room. James and Sirius were already there cleaning cauldrons.
“I know, James and Sirius wouldn’t leave the common room and…”
“Miss Evans they were here four minutes ago,” Slughorn said looking up at Lily.
“Well, Sir it is our fault she’s late, we waited until the last possible minute to leave and then we ran ahead of her and beat her here,” James lied.
“Well, thank you for your honesty Mr. Potter,” Slughorn said as he pulled out 20 school cauldrons for Lily to clean. “But I’m afraid that I will still have to take five points from Gryffindor for you and Mr. Black leaving her and for her being late. Miss Evans you will clean these cauldrons by hand no magic, you can leave when you are done.”
Lily took her seat next to James and began cleaning her first one. James took out a scrap piece of parchment and wrote “Will you go out with me?” on it, Lily picked up the quill and wrote “no” under it. By the time that Lily had finished her tenth cauldron James and Sirius were only on their fifth. Slughorn came to inspect their work and said that it was all good.
“But she is doing hers quicker than ours, and she got here late, that isn’t fair!” Sirius argued.
“Well, Lily did live like a muggle until this year,” Slughorn told him.
When Lily finished James and Sirius still had five more to go. Lily left and walked slowly back to the common room, she looked at her watch and saw that it was only nine o’clock, her friends should still be up.
“So how was detention with your sweetie?” Taylor asked when Lily climbed through the portrait hole.
“I so do not like James! And detention was okay I guess,” Lily said, what would make Taylor think that she liked James? Was it not obvious that she hated him?
“Oh, come on Lily! You have to admit, he is pretty good looking,” Holly said.
“Well, fine I’ll give him that but I don’t like him! He is immature and stupid and I hate him!” Lily said as she pulled out a book and began to read while her friends began to do their homework. A half an hour later James and Sirius came in they went and sat with Peter and Remus.
“Dudes you will never believe what we found,” Sirius exclaimed as he took a seat next to Peter.
“What?” Peter squeaked excitedly.
“Your mom,” James said.
“No, we found a secret passage,” Sirius said after he finished laughing about what James had said.
“You know you shouldn’t use it, it’s probably against school rules and you could get into trouble,” Lily said from across the room.
“You know what Evans? You shouldn’t listen in on private conversations. Why do you do that any way? Oh yeah, it’s because you like me,” James said.
“Well, tell us about up in the dormitory,” Remus suggested already picking up his work and heading up the stairs to their dormitory. Peter, James and Sirius followed.
“They are so immature, we know that you don’t like James Lily, don’t worry about it, he’s an idiot,” Lauren said as they watched the boys disappear to there room.
“Okay, so a secret passage… What kind and where was it?” Remus said excitedly.
“Okay you know where that painting is with the wizard in the pink robes is, the one that’s holding the cauldron full of purple bubbles?” Peter and Remus nodded and James continued. “Well there is a suit of armor next to it, and if you tap it with your wand the picture swings open and you follow the tunnel for about two minutes and then you’re in the dungeon!”
“Cool! We should find a place to write down where all these places are, you know? Kind of like a map or something and then we mark where the passages are,” Remus said excitedly.
“Yeah and we could call it the Marauders Map!” Peter said smiling. Everyone agreed and they decided that they would start tomorrow. They got into their pajamas and got in bed.
The next day when they woke up, the four boys found an old piece of parchment and they helped Remus draw a map of Hogwarts. When Remus finished they walked down to where the passage in the dungeon was, Remus drew it and then they went to their classes. After potions they used the passage to get back up to Gryffindor common room, they were the first back and they took the best seats by the fire, they did their homework while Remus added details to the map.
“Hey, I just had a thought,” Sirius said.
“What’s that?” Peter asked looking up from his report on moonstones.
“Well, what if we left the map lying out? Then anyone could read it and the passages wouldn’t be our secret any more,” Sirius said as he pulled out a piece of parchment and began to copy Peters report.
“Well, I thought about it to, but I think that I have a solution.” Remus said with a grin. “Have you all heard of a vanishing charm?”
“Wouldn’t that make the whole map disappear?” James said looking up from his report that he was copying Sirius.
“Let me finish. We put it on the ink and then we put a charm on it to make the ink come back when say the password or what ever.” Remus said as he drew a table in the great hall. He looked up at his friends.
“That’s great!” They all said.
“Good because I sort of already put the spell on it, we just need a password for the on and off.”
“Hey Sirius, what are you doing?” Lauren as she walked over to their group, Lily behind her.
“I can solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” Sirius said looking up to Lauren who was a bright crimson color.
“Oh well do you want me to talk to you later because you seem a bit busy, so yeah I’ll see you around,” Lauren said as she tried to turn around. Lily stopped her with a look on her face that was almost as stiff as McGonagall’s. Lily pointed at Sirius and Lauren made a pouting face at Lily who pointed again.
“What?” Sirius asked her.
“Um, I was wondering, if maybe, if you wanted to, if maybe this you would like to, but if you didn’t want to I understand but,” Lily squeezed her shoulder encouragingly. “If maybe you wanted to go out with me?” Lauren said hurriedly.
“Sure,” Sirius said with a grin. Lily rolled her eyes.
“What was that Evans?” James asked her.
“Well, personally I don’t see what she sees in him, and I don’t see how she can like someone who hangs out with you, and I don’t see how she likes someone who almost killed her with a potion.” Lily said in one breath. Lauren rolled her eyes this time.
“Well, um, Lily was helping me with homework so I better get back to that so I’ll talk to you later Sirius,” Lauren said, she was now turning back to a light pink. Sirius waved and she and Lily went back to their corner, when they were out of earshot James and Peter began laughing their heads off.
“What?” asked Sirius who was now as red as Lauren was a minute ago.
“Sirius and… sitting in… K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” James and Peter shouted through giggles.
“Grow up guys,” Sirius said as he went back to copying his report.
“Well, I think that Lauren is nice Sirius, I hope you and her are happy together,” Remus said with a grin.
“Come on dude, we will probably only make it a week,” Sirius said sarcastically, he really liked Lauren but he didn’t want his friends to know.
“Oh, Moony, I was in the library today,” James said.
“Wow, James that’s a change,” Remus said.
“Well I found this,” James handed a paper that was torn out of a book to Remus. “It says that a werewolf can’t hurt other animals, not even animagus. And I also found this,” he handed him another paper, “and it has instructions on how to become and animagus. And we don’t have to register with the ministry, we can be illegal, and we will only do it once every month like you, and we can go down with you.”
“Well,” Lupin seemed happy, but also worried that his friends were breaking the rules. “I guess, but you have to promise that you won’t hurt yourselves and you have to promise that I can’t really hurt you.”
“We already tried it, me and Sirius are pretty good at it too, Peter needs some work though, but he should be good for the next time, but we even have names like you!” James said excited to hear that his friend happy with the plan.
“Yeah, I turn into a dog, so I’m Padfoot, and Peter is a rat so he is Wormtail, and James is a stag, and he’s Prongs!” Sirius said.
“Cool, Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs,” Lupin said smiling ear to ear.
“James, Sirius we better go,” Lily said. That night for detention they were all on time. James and Sirius took the passage so they still beat Lily, but at least she was on time.
“Hello all,” Slughorn said. That night they cleaned all the cabinets. Lily finished first.
Back in the common room Remus and Peter continued to work on the Marauders Map. They labeled all of the rooms and the grounds. They decided to make the passwords “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” to get on Sirius’s nerves, and “Mischief Managed”.

Chapter 10 A DATE TO REMEMBER (Part 1)

“Hey everyone,” Lauren said happily as she walked in to their dormitory. She sat down on her bed with a dreamy look on her face.
“Hey Lauren, how was your date with Sirius?” Three weeks had passed since Lauren and Sirius got together.
“Good,” Lauren said smiling mischievously.
“So what did you guys do?” Lily asked politely.
“We went on a walk down by the lake,” Lauren answered still smiling.
“Okay, something happened, I can tell by your face!” Holly said excitedly.
“Come on girl spill!” Taylor said as they sat around Lauren who was now crimson.
“Nothing,” she answered turning redder by the second.
“What happened?” Lily encouraged.
“He kissed me,” Lauren said smiling ear to ear. The other three squealed and immediately started asking questions.
“Come on, you all have been kissed before,” Lauren said quietly, she was still red.
“No, we haven’t,” they all three said.
“Okay, fine, it was like magic…” Lauren drifted off.
“Did he use tongue?” Holly interrupted.
“I’m only 11 years old!” Lauren said with a shocked look on her face.
“Did he use tongue?” Holly repeated.
“No, but still it was like magic,” Lauren said as the dreamy look returned. They stayed up talking for half the night.

~~~
“Okay Wormtail ready?” Padfoot asked. The boy standing next to him began to shrink and in a moment he had turned completely into a rat. “Right,” Padfoot said and he turned into a shaggy dog and his other friend turned into a stag. The rat ran up to the tree and pressed the knot to freeze it. All three animals crawled through the hole that leads to the Shrieking shack. Halfway through the tunnel they ran into a boy that was panting heavily. He smiled when he saw them.
“Hey guys, you ready?” They animals all nodded. “Well if I get too vicious, Wormtail, you run and go get help… I really don’t want to hurt you.” The dog had a look in eyes that said, “You won’t.” “Well, here goes,” The boy screamed in pain and he transformed into a vicious werewolf, the animals began to play with each other, the werewolf was a bit vicious but not very.
~~~

“Oh my goodness James, what happened to your face?” Lily asked as she and her friends sat down across from the boys. Lauren and Sirius hugged and sat across from each other and started talking about who their least favorite teacher.
“Oh, um, nothing,” James said nervously rubbing the deep cut on his face.
“Well, I can’t help if I don’t know what’s wrong,” Lily said going back to putting jelly on her toast.
“So do you like me now? Is that why you are being so nice?” James asked with a smile.
“No I just figured that if our friends our dating then we would be together a lot and I might as well try and be nice,” Lily said blushing.
“Well, if our friends are dating then why don’t we?” James asked her making a pouting lip.
“No,” Lily said grabbing her books and standing up.
“Where are you going?” Taylor asked.
“Library,” Lily said.
“Why?”
“I wanted a new book,” Lily said as she turned and left.
“So, where’s Remus?” Holly asked James.
“Um… at home… taking care of…” James tried to think of a lie.
“His rabbit?” Taylor offered.
“Um, yeah, one of his rabbits died so he had to go take care of it.”
“Oh, the vicious one?” Holly asked.
“No, that one is there still!” James said quickly.
“How would you know?” Taylor asked.
“I saw it, it scratched me, see?” He pointed to his cuts.
“A rabbit did that?” Holly said she didn’t believe him.
“Yes, a rabbit did this, he got Sirius too,” James said pointing at Sirius.
“What?” Lauren said grabbing Sirius’s sleeve and pulling up revealing hundreds of scratches.
“Its okay, really Lauren, I’m fine,” Sirius said quickly covering his arm.
“Are you sure?”
“Would I lie to you?” Sirius said feeling guilty inside. Lauren shook her head and went back to her breakfast. They ate in silence for a few minutes.
“What’s Hogsmeade?” Lily asked suddenly.
“What?” Everyone asked staring at her.
“Hogsmeade, it was on the board that third years are going to Hogsmeade this weekend.”
“It’s a village that is all wizards,” James said shortly.
“What do we do when they are gone?” Lily asked.
“Nothing,” Holly answered.
“Well, actually I have an idea,” Sirius said.
“What?” Lauren asked.
“Well, maybe we could have a little picnic thing by the lake… all of us,” Sirius said shyly.
“Yeah that sounds great!” everyone said.

~~~
That Saturday Lauren was up and getting ready before the sun had risen. Lily woke up at nine to find Lauren had emptied her closet and thrown all her clothes around the room.
“What’s going on?” Lily yawned.
“I have nothing to wear,” Lauren answered as she held up a blue t-shirt in front of a mirror and then through it over her shoulder and it landed on Lily’s head.
“She’s been like this for two hours! I can’t sleep,” Holly said from under her covers. Lily got up and started putting Laurens rejected clothes on hangers.
“Come on Lauren, I’m sure you can find something. What about this?” Lily held up a pink muggle T-shirt with a butterfly on the front.
“Too childish,” Lauren said. Lily held up a purple sundress, “Too desperate.” Lily picked up a sky blue top with a beaded border around the neck line, “That one made me look fat.”
“Oh my gosh, you aren’t fat!” Lily said as she put the blue shirt on a hanger.
“Here Lauren, what about this?” Taylor tossed her a package. Lauren opened it and pulled up a light pink top with a v-neck and a whit skirt that went down to just above her knee. “My parents just sent it to me, but it was too small, I’m sure it will fit you perfect and it will be really cute!”
“Thanks!” Lauren put on the outfit and turned in front of the mirror.
“You look great Lauren!” Holly came over to the mirror with her wand and pointed it at the skirt. “But this could be a little higher don’t you think?” Holly said a spell and the skirt hem twitched. “Well it was supposed to shrink four inches…”
“We aren’t supposed to use magic except out side of class!” Lily said taking Holly’s wand.
“Here what about this,” Taylor came over and folded the skirt up an inch and then folded it again. Then she pulled out her wand said a spell and the new hem of the skirt turned pink to match the top.
“I think it’s too short,” Lauren said unfolding the skirt.
“Fine, suit yourself,” Holly said as she picked out a cute green halter-top and a pair of white shorts.
~~~

“So you see dude there is absolutely no way you will get hurt!” Sirius said back in the boys’ dormitory.
“I don’t know, I mean, does anyone even know if the squid has ever really eaten a human before?” Remus asked.
“Moony you worry too much, humans eat squid, not the other way around,” Sirius said trying to rack his brain for something about the squid eating humans.
“And are we even sure that Lily knows how to swim?” Peter asked as he played with the sheets on his bed.
“Well, I’m sure learned at some point or another,” Sirius said. He looked at James who was now turning green. “Ah, come on Padfoot, nothing can go wrong! You put this worm in between your toes and then put your foot in the water, and then the squid, which is harmless…”
“We hope,” Peter put in.
“Which is harmless, will pull you into the lake, and then Lily will get all worried and ask who knows how to swim and we will tell her that we don’t and then she will jump in and save you…”
“We hope,” Remus said.
“She will jump in and save you and then pull you out, and then you pretend to not breathe and then Lily gives you mouth to mouth and then you kiss her, and then she decides that she likes you…”
“I hope,” James said quietly.
“She will decide that she likes you and then you will start dating and it will be great!” Sirius finished.
“We hope,” The three boys said.
“Am I the only one who thinks that this plan will work?” Sirius asked in disbelief. The others nodded. “Well it will, and we are going to do it so here,” Sirius handed James a worm, which James put in his pocket.

CHAPTER 10 A DATE TO REMEMBER (Part 2)

They all met at noon in the Great Hall. Laurens stomach was full of butterflies, same as Sirius.
“Hey Lauren,” Sirius said when he saw her, they hugged and he kissed her lightly on the cheek. That got an “ooh” from the others and they both turned red.
James looked at Lily. He liked her outfit. She was wearing tight blue jeans and a hot pink t-shirt with a purple butterfly on it. She glanced at him and they both turned red and looked away.
“You look pretty,” James said quietly.
“Thanks Potter,” she said rolling her eyes, but inside she was dancing.
“So let’s go,” Taylor said. They walked down to the lake and found a beech tree. They laid out a blanket and the boys emptied the bag they had brought that was full of sandwiches and candy that they had gotten from the kitchens. They had found the kitchen entrance the day before and had marked it on the map immediately.
“So Evans, will you go out with me?” James asked when the started eating.
“James, no, don’t ask again or I swear I will hex you!” Lily said, she was so annoyed, she really liked him but she couldn’t go out with him, if she did she would never hear the end of it with her friends.
“Are you sure?” James asked smiling.
“James, I hate you, I’m never going to change my mind, I am never going to like you, stop asking, the answer is no, it always will be!” Lily screamed, she couldn’t look at him, she had ruined it, she knew she had, he would hate her now. She felt her eyes burn with tears, she tried to hold them back, she wouldn’t cry in front of her friends, what she had said had killed her inside. James felt like crying too, but refused to do it in front of her. No one looked at each other for a while. James pulled the now dead worm out of his pocket and put it between his toes, he then slid his foot into the icy lake.
“So…” Peter and Holly said at the same time trying to break the silence.
“Um, have you finished McGonagall’s essay yet Lily? Because I needed help with the blocking spells part,” Lupin asked trying to start a conversation. Lily looked away, she thought if she spoke she would break down and cry. She shook her head no and then mumbled “I have to go…” She got up and walked slowly away from the picnic, she started crying and broke into a run. The moment she did James felt something slimy wrap around his ankle. He knew immediately that it wasn’t the giant squid, he screamed as he was pulled under the freezing water. The last thing he saw was a blur of red hair running towards him screaming his name.
“Help! Someone help, save him!” Lily screamed as she ran back to her friends, tears still staining her face.
“We can’t swim,” The boys said without looking at her. Lily looked desperately at her friends. They shook their heads. Without thinking Lily dove into the lake. Big mistake, she thought, she had never swam in her life. She dove under and saw James, something had him by the ankle, it was the ugliest and meanest looking thing Lily had seen in her life. She screamed, a bubble came out of her mouth, she was out of air, she grabbed James hand and tried to pull him up when one of things grabbed her ankle too. It giggled at her trying to escape. She kept kicking her feet trying to break free, but she never let go of James hand.
“Oh my god, some one HELP!” Lauren began screaming looking around for someone to save her friend and James.
“I’m going in,” Sirius said taking off his shirt.
“But you can’t swim!” Lauren said grabbing his arm to stop him from diving in.
“Well, it’s a long story, we will explain later,” Remus said, he also had taken his shirt off.
“Peter you coming?” Sirius asked quickly.
“I really can’t swim,” Peter said.
“Then go get the nurse!” Lupin said as he and Sirius dove in after Lily and James. They swan side by side until they saw an unconscious James and a struggling Lily. Sirius grabbed James’s hand and Lupin grabbed Lily’s, Sirius pulled out his wand and said a spell, which came out as bubbles, they were propelled up to the surface. They landed on the ground next to the girls. Lily was now unconscious, same as James. Sirius and Remus were breathing heavily.
“What happened?” Madam Pomfrey screamed from across the grounds, she was running towards them, Peter right behind her.
“Something grabbed James and pulled him in the lake, and Lily tried to save him, and they got her too, and then me and Lupin here had to save them both,” Sirius said when she got closer.
“You all need to go to the hospital wing. Levi Corpus,” James and Lily floated in thin air, Madam Pomfrey helped the other two on to their feet and then they all went to the hospital.
“Okay, now will explain what happened?” Lauren asked Sirius when they got up the hospital.
“Well, James wants to go out with Lily,” Sirius started.
“No, really? I was unaware,” Lauren said sarcastically.
“Well, we thought that if James was attacked by the giant squid that Lily would save him if she thought no one else knew how to swim, but we didn’t know that she couldn’t swim. So when she was attacked too me and Moony had to save her.” Sirius said guiltily.
“Well, as long as everyone will be okay, I guess your forgiven,” Lauren said.
“Thanks,” Sirius said and hugged her. She sat next to him and held his hand. They waited the whole afternoon for James and Lily to wake up. Madam Pomfrey finally told them they had to go and eat and go to bed and she would call them when they woke up.

~~~
“They still aren’t up,” Madam Pomfrey said when the group walked in the next morning.
“Well we want to be their when they do wake up,” Lupin said politely. Madam Pomfrey frowned at them and left. They sat next to James’s and Lily’s beds. They sat for an hour in silence and then Lily coughed.
“She’s waking up!” Holly said excitedly.
“Where am I?” Lily yawned.
“The hospital wing dear,” Madam Pomfrey answered.
“Again?” Lily asked.
“Yes dear, again,” Madam Pomfrey said handing her a potion. Lily drank it and looked over and saw James.
“What happened?” Lily asked.
“Well, um, we tried to set you up with James, and it kind of didn’t go as planned,” Lupin said.
“When?”
“Yesterday afternoon, you tried to save him but you couldn’t swim either so we had to save you,” Sirius said.
“Why did I just wake up?” Lily asked.
“Well, you see, you were attacked by grindylow, and they tried to kill you, they almost succeeded. You see your ankle, they injected poison, but I got most of it out. Mr. Potter should be up soon.” Madam Pomfrey said. Lily looked at her ankle, it was swollen and there was a dark green spot on it the size of a sickle. Lily and her friends talked while they waited for James to wake up.
“Evans, will you go out with me?” He asked groggily making them all jump.
“James, I like as a friend, nothing more, so sorry, no I won’t,” Lily said sadly.
“You’ll change your mind soon,” James said as he drank the potion that Madam Pomfrey had handed him.
~~~

“So, Lily, I hear that you don’t want Potter?” Christina, a Gryffindor first year, asked Lily in the common room a few weeks later.
“No, I don’t like him, I mean I like him as friend, but that’s all,” Lily said looking up at her. Christina was very popular, and pretty. She had long blonde hair; today it hanging down past her shoulders, she had put little braids in to frame her face. Lily didn’t know how a girl could be so beautiful, but, she thought, Christina was pretty dumb.
“Well, you wouldn’t mind if I took a shot at him?” Christina asked playing with her hair.
“Nope, go for it,” Lily said.
“Thanks, I’ll ask him out at the quidditch game this weekend. See you there,” She said waving.
“Lily,” Taylor said.
“Yeah,” Lily said looking away from James.
“Are you sure that you don’t like James?”
“Yeah, what would give you that idea?” Lily said with a smile.
“Well, your always staring at him and you smile and you get this little twinkle in your eye when he’s around,” Taylor said.
“Well, you must be seeing things, because I don’t like him,” Lily said with a fake smile.
“She isn’t seeing things, I see it too,” Holly said.
“Yeah, me too,” Lauren said.
“Guys, listen, I don’t like him. I don’t care if Christina goes out with him. I don’t like him,” Lily said wondering how long she could keep this lie up.
“Okay,” The three girls said going back to their homework.
“Where’s Sirius, Lauren?” Lily asked trying to change the subject.
“Oh, um, I don’t know, he went for a walk with his friends I guess,” Lauren said shrugging.
“Well, we better finish our homework,” Lauren said after a few minutes. They went back to their seats and finished their homework and then went to bed.

Hey everyone! Here is chapter 11, and its the first Maruader adventure!! I hope you like it! Please leave any feedback HERE!!

Chapter 11 THE FORBIDDEN FOREST

“Ouch, that was my foot James,” Sirius whispered.
“Sorry,” James said. The Marauders were under the invisibility cloak that night looking for passages.
“James are you sure invisibility cloaks aren’t against the rules?” Remus asked quietly.
“I told you, I don’t know, my dad gave it to me, he used it in school, I guess its okay,” James whispered for the third time that night.
“If your sure then,” Remus said doubtfully.
“Shh,” James whispered, “There’s a teacher coming!” They stood still and waited for Professor Weikel to pass. After she passed they stood still for a while to make sure she wasn’t coming back. Sirius got bored and leaned against the wall. He fell through it, taking the invisibility cloak with him. He screamed, he was in a dark tunnel and he couldn’t find how to get back to his friends, and if Professor Weikel decided to come back his friends didn’t have the cloak. He hit the wall, it was solid, he looked behind him; the tunnel went on forever. He lit his wand and started walking through it still invisible.
Out side the boys were patting the wall where Sirius had disappeared. It seemed solid, but how could Sirius just fall right through?
“Maybe it’s like the platform for the train? You have to run at it or something,” Peter suggested. James backed up and ran straight at the wall, all the happened was he got a splitting headache. James pulled out his wand and tried to tap the wall with it. When he did the wand and his hand went through it like it was water, he grabbed Peter who grabbed Remus and the three of them walked through.
“Cool,” James whispered.
“Where’s Sirius?” Peter asked.
“I don’t know. Sirius, where are you?” Remus called to the darkness, silence answered. The boys lit their wands and began walking, calling for their friend every few minutes.
Up ahead Sirius started down a steep hill. He stopped suddenly; he had heard a noise behind him. He turned around but there was nothing there. He started walking again and stopped because he had heard it again.
“Show yourself!” He demanded. Then he realized that he was invisible too, he took the cloak off and looked around. Nothing moved or made a sound of any kind. Sirius was scared; he felt goose bumps rise on his arms and the hair on the back of his neck rise. He stood still for the longest time. When he decided that it was just a rat and it was nothing to worry about he turned and started walking again. The second he did someone grabbed his shoulder, he let out an ear splitting scream. He pulled out his wand turned and shouted, “Expelliarmus!”
James went flying through the air while Remus and Peter were on the ground laughing.
“Since when did you become such a scaredy-cat?” James said rubbing his arm as he got up.
“God, you scared the living daylights out of me!” Sirius said trying to calm his breathing. They all started laughing. When they calmed down they began walking silently down the passage.
“How far do you think we’ve gone?” Peter asked suddenly.
“I don’t know, a few miles I guess,” James answered.
“Hey Sirius, how long do you think it will be until Lauren asks if she can go on these ‘walks’ with you?” Remus asked.
“I don’t know, I guess if she does ask I’ll just take her on a walk around the castle and make it boring so she doesn’t want to come anymore,” Sirius said.
“Do you not like her anymore?” James asked.
“No, I love her,” Sirius said quickly.
“Then why would you make it boring?”
“Well, I just don’t want to tell her about the map,” Sirius said slowly.
“Well, she is your girlfriend. You can tell her, if Lily ever goes out with me I’ll tell her about it,” James said sadly.
“She will say yes,” Sirius said.
“How do you know?”
“Lauren told me,” Sirius lied. He didn’t care if that lie broke him and Lauren up, he couldn’t stand to see his friend give up.
“You’re lying.”
“What makes you say that?”
“You didn’t look me in the eye,” James said sadly.
“Well, fine am I lying, but still dude, don’t give up,” Sirius said.
“Look, there’s a light up ahead!” Remus said. They ran up to the light and saw that it was hole in the ceiling. They crawled up through it and the hole closed.
“This isn’t good,” Remus said.
“Why not?” James asked looking at the trees lit by the half moon.
“We’re in the Forbidden Forest.”
An arrow flew past James’ ear; the boys screamed and took off running in different directions. They were all grabbed at the same time by centaurs. They kicked and screamed at them as they were tied to trees.
“What’s going on?” James asked the centaur who was checking to make sure that the knots were tight enough.
“That’s what we should be asking you,” the centaur replied.
“Sirius, what are these things?” Peter whispered. That angered them. A green centaur took an arrow and stabbed it in the tree just above Peters head causing Peter to scream.
“We are centaurs, among the smartest creatures on this Earth. You on the other hand are not,” A blue one shouted at them.
“What do you want with us?” James asked bravely.
“We do not want humans in our forest.”
“Please, Sir, it was an accident, we didn’t know the passage would lead here,” Remus said.
“You call me Bane. Do you know, Remus Lupin, what we do with intruders?” Bane asked aiming his bow and arrow at Remus’s head.
“Bane don’t!” a centaur cried as he grabbed the arrow and pulled it away.
“Why not Firenze?” A very annoyed Bane asked.
“I sense something, something very good to come. He will be the father of the one with the power to kill the Dark Lord,” Firenze said pointing at James.
“What Dark Lord are you talking about?” James asked.
“He who is about to rise. You will be father to the one who has the power to defeat him,” Firenze said looking at the stars.
“So I will like teach him how and stuff?” James asked wondering if he should be paying more attention in school.
“No, there is a traitor among the four of you. You will not live to see your son grow into a man.”
“Which one is the traitor?” Both Sirius and Bane asked.
“I do not know. But we can’t kill them.”
“Fine, we will let you go, this time. Do not come back!” Bane said harshly as he untied the ropes. The boys thanked them and ran off, but before James could start Firenze grabbed his shoulder.
“Be careful James Potter.” James nodded and ran to catch up with his friends. They put on the invisibility clock when they were out of the forest and walked back to the castle silently.
“What do you think that was about?” Sirius asked when the got back to their bed room.
“I don’t know, it was kind of weird though wasn’t?” Peter said.
“No duh Peter, we were almost killed by horse people but we got away because James will have a son that will defeat a dark lord that doesn’t exist!” Remus said.
“Well, I mean that it was weird that they could see the future,” Peter said crawling into bed.
“Yeah. What’s wrong James? You’ve been quiet since we got out of the forest,” Sirius said as he also crawled into bed.
“What if they’re right?” James said as he sat on his bed fully clothed.
“They aren’t, they’re probably mental or something,” Sirius said with a smile.
“Yeah James… They tried to kill us!” Peter said.
“Well, I mean what if? That means one of you is a traitor, which I highly doubt, and that I’m not going to die after my son is born. I’m scared.” James said, he was as white as a ghost.
“Well, look, I’m sure they were mental. Just forget about it,” Sirius said.
“Yeah, I guess your right,” James said pushing to it to the back of his mind like his friends had already done.

Hey everyone!! I know that this chapter is really boring, but I had no idea what to do so I just did Lily's Christmas... I hope you like it, please leave your feedback HERE!!!

Chapter 13 CHRISTMAS

The next two weeks were miserable, she couldn’t stand not talking to her best friends, but she could keep this up as long as Lauren, Holly and Taylor could and she wouldn’t talk to them unless they apologize.
“Lily, we need to talk,” Sirius said at lunch one day.
“What about?”
“Why aren’t you and Lauren talking?”
“She doesn’t believe that I don’t like James.”
“Well that’s stupid, and she’s miserable.”
“She is?” Lily felt sorry for her.
“Yes, she really misses you.”
“Well, if she apologizes, I’ll forgive her.”
“Fine, I’ll go get her,” Sirius said getting up and walking over to Lily’s ex-friends.
“Lily, we are really sorry, and we believe you, just I really thought that you did, and we want you to be happy and we thought you would be happy if you went out with him.” Lauren said quickly.
“Its okay, I’m sorry too,” Lily said getting up and hugging her friends.
“Can you believe that next week is Christmas?” Taylor asked.
“No,” Holly said.
“So are you all going home?” Lily asked.
“Yeah, and I think all the guys are too,” Lauren said.
“Except James and me,” Sirius said sitting next to Lauren.
“Why not?” Lauren asked.
“Because I don’t like my family and James’s parents are on vacation.”
“Oh, well I hope you have fun,” Lauren said.

~~~
The next week passed quickly because Lily and Lauren were friends again. Everyone was happy and didn’t want to leave for Christmas.
“I’ll see you in two weeks,” Lily said hugging Lauren and the rest of her friends.
“I’ll miss you,” Lauren and Sirius said to each other as they hugged good-bye.
The ones that were going home headed out the door and got on the carriages that took them to the train. They talked the entire way back to the station catching up with what all they missed in the weeks they didn’t talk. When they got there they said good bye again and found their families.
“Lily!” Her mom screamed and ran to hug her.
“Hi Mom! Hi Dad! Hi Petunia!” Lily hugged her parents and tried to hug her sister but Petunia back away. They got in the car and her parent’s immediately started asking questions.
“So do you like school?”
“Yeah, it’s great.”
“Did you make any friends?”
“Yes, Lauren, Taylor and Holly.”
“Are you getting good grades?”
“Yes.”
“Can you show us some magic?” Her dad asked eagerly.
“Not until I’m seventeen.”
The questions continued all the way home. Lily answered them all, happy to be back with her family but already missing her friends and James.
“So who’s James? You mentioned him in one of your letters,” Lily’s mom asked.
“Oh, he’s a friend of a friend who won’t leave me alone.” Lily hated lying to her parents.
“Well I think you should go out with him,” Lily’s mom said looking back at her.
“No! Absolutely not, he is so immature and annoying! No way,” Lily almost yelled but kept it at a decent level.
“Fine, you just seemed to like him.” Lily’s mom turned back to the road.
The next few days were fun. Lily got a few letters from her friends Lauren and Taylor. Holly told her that she wouldn’t be able to write because her parents would keep her so busy. Lily caught up with her parents, nothing that exciting had happened at home since she had left.
Lily woke up early on Christmas morning. She looked at her clock which told her that it was only 4:32. She groaned and laid back down wide eyed and wanting to open presents. After what seemed like hours she tiptoed into her parents room.
“Mom… Mom wake up…” Lily whispered. Her mom rolled over and groaned in her sleep. Lily poked her and her mom jumped.
“Lily,” Her dad said groggily sitting up, “It’s only 5:03…”
“I can’t get back to sleep,” Lily said innocently.
“Fine go and wake your sister.”
About 15 minutes later they headed downstairs. Petunia screamed at the site of two owls one with a box tied to its leg and the other had a card tied to its leg. Lily ran over to the one that was brown, she recognized it as Lauren’s owl. She untied the card.
Dear Lily,
Merry Christmas! How is your break so far? I hope you’re good! And I hope you enjoy your gift! I sent the one from Holly too… She said Merry Christmas and she was sorry she couldn’t send it herself, she’s on vacation somewhere.
See you soon!
Lauren
Lily untied the box and unwrapped it. She pulled out a smaller bow that was wrapped in green paper, she was sure that this one was from Holly. She opened the box and found a beautiful friendship necklace. It was silver and had an “L” on it. There was a note inside.
Dear Lily,
Hey girl what’s up? Merry Christmas!! I hope you get this on time. I have a necklace just like yours with my initials on it and I gave the other matching one too! I hope you like it!
See you at school!
Holly
The second owl, Lily guessed had to be Taylor’s parents. She opened the card and read it.
Hey Lily,
I know that you’ve always wanted a cat… So here is a gift certificate to the pet shop in Diagon Alley… Pick out a nice one! Or you could get an owl… which ever you want! Merry Christmas!
Miss you!
Taylor
Lily ran upstairs and grabbed the necklaces that she had made for her friends and the cards she had written and brought them back downstairs and tied them to both owls. The owls flew out the window and Lily watched them until they were just little specks in the sky.
After that Lily and Petunia opened their gifts from their parents. Lily got a few outfits, her favorite was a beautiful long sleeve pink t-shirt and jeans that embroidered flowers on the right leg that were the same color as the shirt. Petunia got the same thing in purple.
The rest of Lily’s Christmas was pretty normal. The day before she had to go back to school her parents took her to London so she could get her cat in Diagon Alley. She picked out a gray and white one, she was a little kitten, only three months old. Lily called her Miss Kitty. She paid with the gift certificate and went back to find her parents outside the Leaky Cauldron, Miss Kitty in a basket.
They went home and Lily packed, they ate dinner at a fancy restaurant and the next day Lily was on the train back to Hogwarts.
“Lily!” Lauren called from a compartment. Lily dragged her trunk over to her friends hugged them all and sat down.
“So, how was your holiday?” Lauren asked her.
“Good, how about yours?” Lily asked.
“Great, look at this!” Lauren held out her wrist to show a gold charm bracelet, it had a single golden heart on it.
“Ooh, who gave you that?” Lily asked already knowing the answer.
“Sirius,” Lauren blushed.
They laughed and giggled and showed each other what they got for Christmas the rest of the way to Hogwarts. When they got there they found James and Sirius in the common room talking with Remus and Peter.
“ Sirius,” Lauren called and waved, Sirius got up and ran up to her. They hugged and then started talking about their holidays.
The girls went and sat on the couch with the boys and talked. James had gotten a pair of mirrors from his parents that you could communicate through by saying the persons name and then you could see their face. James and Sirius demonstrated them, Lily thought they were really cool and James offered to give her the other one but she said no and that Sirius should have.
“Will you go out with me Evans?” James asked suddenly.
“No,” Lily said shyly and feeling her face turn red.
They were all silent for a few minutes.
“Well, I’m off to bed,” Taylor said, she hated awkward silences. Everyone followed her. The girls were so tired they went straight to bed, but the Marauders stayed up a while.
“Moony, Wormtail, look, we found two more passages, one to Honeyduke’s and another to the astronomy tower,” James showed them the map and they talked about it for a while and then they fell asleep one by one.
Chapter 12 QUIDDITCH AND TROUBLE
“James wake up! You don’t want to be late for the first quidditch game,” Peter said shaking James.
“James come on, I’ve got to meet Lauren in ten minutes!” Sirius said also shaking James.
“James Lily will be there!” Remus said, James shot up in an instant, everyone laughed and he turned crimson.
When they were ready they went down to the common room to meet the girls and they all walked down to breakfast together.
“So can someone please explain to me what Quidditch is?” Lily asked causing James to choke on his glass of milk.
“You don’t know what Quidditch is?” he asked, Lily shook her head. “It’s the greatest wizard sport of all time! Okay, there are seven players on each team. One seeker, one keeper, two beaters, and three chasers. The seeker…”
“James would you go out with me?”
“Why would I do that Christina?” James asked.
“Because I really like you,” Christina said twirling her hair.
“Well, no, sorry but I like Lily.”
“Well you’ll be sorry.” Christina said folding her arms.
“Trust me, I won’t.”
“Well at least I know how to play Quidditch,” Christina smirked at Lily with a look of pure hatred in her eyes. She walked back over to her friends and began to cry.
“Why won’t you go out with her? You know I don’t like you that way and Christina is really nice,” Lily said.
“I like you. Now do you want to know how to play Quidditch or not?” Lilly nodded and James continued to explain as the walked down to the Quidditch pitch.
“Welcome to the first Quidditch match of the season! Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff!” The commentator yelled over the roaring crowd as James, Lily and their friends filed into a box by themselves. Lily looked across the pitch and saw Christina talking to Severus Snape who was smiling and nodding his head as she spoke to him. Lily wondered what it was about but decided that it was nothing important. The game started with Gryffindor in possession of the quaffle. The scored with in the first thirty seconds. The game continued and an hour later the score was 110 to 30, Gryffindor in the lead.
“Wow, that’s a nasty bludger there heading for keeper Matt Lauderdale of Gryffindor,” the commentator said. Matt rolled over on his broom and barely escaped it. The Gryffindors cheered as beater Ryan Baker hit the bludger as hard as he could at the Hufflepuff keeper. The bludger swerved at the last second and started heading for James and his friends. “What is wrong with that bludger? Has it been tampered with?” Ryan tried to hit the bludger but missed and hit Matt’s nose as the bludger hit James in the face.
“James!” Lily screamed as he fell to the ground. She sat on the ground with his head in her lap as they waited for the nurse. The Hufflepuff seeker caught the snitch in all the confusion and the Hufflepuffs won. Blood was still coming steadily out of James’s nose when Madam Pomfrey came to take him the hospital.
“Are you sure that he will be okay?” Lily cried.
“Yes, he should be back tomorrow, I will fix his nose and give him a potion for all the blood lost,” Madam Pomfrey told her for the third time on the way to the hospital wing.
“Is Matt going to be okay?” Taylor asked unexpectedly.
“Yes, he should be out later tonight.” Everyone was staring at Taylor.
“What? He is really cute!”
Madam Pomfrey came back a minute later with a potion that James drank. She told his friends they could only stay for two hours.
“It was Christina wasn’t?” James said.
“What?” Sirius asked.
“You heard her this morning, ‘You’ll be sorry.’ It had to have been her.”
“Actually, she told Snape to do it and he did for her,” Lily said and told them what she had seen earlier.
“You know what this means?” James said looking at her.
“What? We tell Dumbledore?” Lily offered knowing that it was wrong.
“No. This means war.”
“No! Please don’t! Revenge only leads to more revenge and that’s dangerous!” Lily said quickly.
“Lily do you like Snape or Christina?” Taylor asked her.
“No, I don’t like Snape, but Christina can be okay at times. But revenge is bad!” Lily said worried.
“They broke my nose!” James said.
“Well, if anything happens to either of them I am telling Dumbledore everything.”
“Come on Lily, we’re all doing it! Don’t bust us!” Lauren begged her. It was silent for a minute.
“Fine,” Lily said quietly, she was disgusted that she was trying to get revenge over people even if they did deserve it for breaking James nose.
The next night back in the common room the Marauders along with the girls planned their revenge. Lily was silent almost the entire time.
“Okay so, should we do it in front of people to embarrass them or when they are alone to scare them?” James asked.
“Embarrass them,” everyone but Lily agreed.
“How about we do it tomorrow in the hall?” James asked.
“What about teachers? We could get in trouble,” Lily said.
“So you’re in?” James said smiling.
“How about down by the lake after classes?” Lily suggested. Everyone nodded.
“Okay here’s what we’ll do…”
~~~

“Okay ready?” James asked, they were down by the lake under the beech tree. They all nodded. “Okay, there’s Christina, good luck Lily,” James said squeezing her shoulder. Lily pulled out her wand and pointed at Christina whose nose hair began growing at an alarming rate. Christina began to scream as it grew down to her lip. Her friend Erin pulled out her wand and muttered a spell but the hair just grew faster now down to her shoulders. Everyone was laughing and pointing at her, ever Lily.
“There’s Snivellus!” Sirius said pointing at the boy with greasy black hair and a crooked nose who was now laughing at Christina. James pulled out his wand and pointed it at him Snape was suddenly hanging in midair from his ankle. Remus and Peter both pulled out their wands and muttered spells, Snape started growing purple boils on his face and arms, and his hair fell out, now everyone was laughing and pointing at him.
“Potter, Lupin, Pettigrew, Black and Evans! Detention!” McGonagall yelled she had apparently seen the whole thing.
“Please Professor, Evans didn’t do anything!” James said still laughing.
“Fine, the four boys, Lily next time it’s detention. Boys, my room tomorrow night at seven sharp.” The boys nodded and the eight of them started back to the common room still laughing.
“Thanks James,” Lily said blushing as she sat down across from him and started her homework.
“No problem… You didn’t even want to it anyway,” James said. And then he added, “Will you go out with me?”
“James… I-I… I… No… I just don’t want a boyfriend right now,” She had really considered saying yes that time, she was so happy that he had gotten her out of detention. James nodded and they all did they’re homework silently until Holly finally announced that she was going to bed at 10. Her friends followed and the boys went to their dormitory.
“Lily, why don’t you just go out with him?” Lauren said as they all got into bed.
“I just don’t want too, he is so immature! I just don’t like him the way he likes me,” Lily said.
“Well, still you like him, we all know it,” Taylor said.
“I do not!”
“Fine, Lily, just keep lying to yourself, we know that you like him,” Holly said.
“I…”
“We don’t want to hear it,” Lauren said. They didn’t speak the next day, they were both mad at each other, Lily was mad at herself too for being mad at friend for not believing a lie. She didn’t want to like him; she didn’t know why she did.

Chapter 14 Honeydukes

After lessons the next day the Marauders planned heir next adventure.
“Okay so tonight at midnight?” Sirius suggested.
“Honeydukes isn’t opened at midnight,” Remus said.
“So?’ James said shrugging.
“Ever heard of Azkaban?” Remus asked.
“Ever heard of an invisibility cloak?” James asked.
“Ever heard of CSI?” Peter asked. They all looked at him.
“Crime Scene Investigators,” Peter said. They still stared at him. “It’s the people muggles use when the have a robbery or a murder or something.”
“Like Aurors?” James asked.
“Kind of,” Peter said.
“Are you all planning a robbery?” a girl’s voice asked. The boys turned around to see Lily, Lauren, Taylor and Holly behind them.
“What makes you say that?” James asked trying to be nonchalant.
“You were talking about CSI,” Lily answered.
“You know what CSI is?” Peter asked, he really didn’t know what it was he had just heard about it on the muggle news when he was on vacation.
“I did grow up in the muggle world,” Lily answered folding her arms.
“Oh, yeah that’s right… So what are those people called?? Please or something, ” Peter asked.
“Police, and I think that you have CSI and FBI mixed up,” Lily said.
“Whatever, but we weren’t planning a robbery,” James said.
“Whatever, you were talking about Honeydukes, midnight, invisibility cloak, sounds like a robbery,” Lily said.
“We aren’t robbing it,” Sirius said.
“Sirius why would you rob Honeydukes?” Lauren spoke up.
“Yeah, and how would you even get out of the castle?” Taylor asked.
“And where would you even get an invisibility cloak?” Holly asked.
“Okay fine we won’t rob it, it’s not like we were in the first place anyway,” Sirius said.
“We will give you answers if Lily goes out with me,” James said smiling.
“No, but just know that if there is anything that happens that shouldn’t happen in Honeydukes happens, I’m telling Dumbledore it was you,” Lily said and she and her friends stalked off.
“I can’t wait for the next Hogsmeade trip!” A third year boy said to his friend as they passed the Marauders.
“When is the next trip?” Remus asked.
“Why would you want to know? You’re not in third year,” The boy said crossing his arms.
“I know but my brother who is in Ravenclaw wants to know,” Remus lied.
“It’s the day before Valentines day,” The boy’s friend said.
“Okay thank you,” Remus said and the boys walked off.
“Do you really have a brother?” Peter asked and Remus shook his head.
“There you go guys, we can go on the Hogsmeade trip and then we will blend in,” Remus said.
“But it’s a month away!” James complained.
“But it will be easier that way, trust me,” Remus said.

***

On February 13th the Marauders woke up early. They got up and dressed and went down to breakfast not expecting a lot of people down there but they were wrong. All the students third year and above were there.
“Sirius!” Lauren called standing up and waving.
“Hey Lauren, what are you doing up so early?” Sirius asked when they sat down next to her and her friends.
“We were going to go skating on the lake today. Do you guys want to come?” She asked.
“Well, actually me and the guys were going to go on the walk,” Sirius said looking away.
“Well we’ll come with you,” Lauren said happily.
“Well, actually…” Sirius started but James interrupted him.
“I don’t think that Lily would want to come,” James said trying to make Lily curious. It worked.
“Why wouldn’t I want to come?” Lily asked.
“It might be too scary for you,” James smiled.
“Well what are you planning?” Lily asked a little annoyed.
“Will you come,” James asked.
“What are you planning?”
“Will you come?”
“What are you planning?”
“Will you come?”
“What are you planning?”
“Will you come?” James smiled. He could tell Lily was getting mad but he thought that she was really cute when she was angry.
“What are you planning?” Lily said in a low and slow voice that scared James.
“We’re going to go on adventure,” James answered.
“To where?” Lily asked.
“Hogsmeade, will you come?” James asked.
“We aren’t allowed,” Lily said.
“So?” James shrugged. Lily loved that he didn’t care about the rules, even if it did get him into a lot of trouble.
“Sure,” Lily said, she was afraid that she might get in trouble but at the same time she couldn’t wait to spend the day with James.
“So, can we make this a date?” James asked happily.
“No,” Lily said not looking at him. She didn’t want to hear her friends talk bad about him even though they did any way and they looked at her like she was crazy when she tried to defend him.
“A-Are you sure?” James asked with a hurt look on his face, he really thought that she liked him. Lily nodded.
“Well, we better go,” Sirius said, standing up and the others followed.
“Lily wait,” Lauren whispered, grabbing her arm and holding her back.
“What?”
“Do you like James?” Lauren asked.
“I told you no.”
“Good because Lily, you really can do a lot better than him,” Lauren’s words hurt Lily inside but she smiled and nodded anyway. Lily and Lauren ran to catch up with their friends.
“Okay, we’re here,” Sirius said. They were by a statue of a humpbacked witch. Sirius pulled out his wand and muttered a spell and the hump the witch’s back opened and they all climbed in and found them selves in a dark tunnel.
“Lumos,” James and Sirius whispered lighting their wands.
“Well, lets go,” Sirius said leading down the passage that had a dirt floor and a million cobwebs.
“Sirius, I’m scared,” Lauren whispered.
“Here,” Sirius held out his hand and Lauren took it, holding it tight.
“How long is the passage?” Lily asked.
“How do you plan on sneaking into Honeydukes anyway?” Taylor asked.
“The passage leads to the basement. So we come out there and then put on the invisibility cloak and then sneak out of the store behind the building take off the cloak and then go back in,” James said.
“Oh yeah, that sounds easy,” Holly said sarcastically. After what seemed like hours they finally reached an exit.
“Here you go,” James said pulling down the door. James hopped up and helped pull the girls up. Lily refused to let him help her. When everyone was out James pulled out the invisibility cloak, they all had to slouch a little so that their feet didn’t show with eight of them under it.
“Where to now?” Peter asked. James shushed him and pointed to the door. When they opened it all the colours from the jars of candy overwhelmed them. The place was packed with Hogwarts students but some how the group was able to push there way out into the street and behind the shop where they pulled off the cloak.
“Let’s go!” Remus said happily. They spent an hour in Honeydukes. Together they bought almost one of everything. Lily had fun with the Droobles gum and was fascinated by all the flavours that Bertie Botts had.
When the group left Honeydukes they went to the Leaky Cauldron where they ate lunch. When they were done eating James bought them all a round of Butterbeers. When they were finished they went to Zonko’s Joke Shop.
“Hey James look at this,” Sirius said holding up a trick ring.
“What is it?” Peter asked.
“Here put it on,” Sirius said smiling. Peter did and his whole hand turned green. The entire group started laughing at him.
“How do you get it off?” Peter asked quickly.
“Relax,” The store owner said he came over and tapped Peters hand with his wand and his hand turned back to a normal colour.
“Thanks,” Peter said smiling. They all shopped for a while. They left empty handed, the girls just didn’t want anything and the boys had already bought everything they wanted before school had started. They spent their last few hours there visiting all the shops and walking around the streets.
“Well, I guess we had better head back,” James said.
“But it’s an hour until the Hogwarts students should be back,” Lily complained. She was having a great time with James and didn’t want it to end.
“Well it will take about an hour to get back through the passage,” Sirius said. They put on the cloak before going into Honeydukes, which was a lot less packed then before. They took off the cloak when they were inside the passage. They all lit their wands and Sirius led the way hand in hand back to the school.
“Well I had a great time today,” Lauren said when they got back at nine o clock.
“Me too,” Sirius said and kissed Lauren on the cheek.
“Thank you for inviting us James,” Lily said.
“Anytime,” James said. They all talked for a while but finally went to bed.

***

“Happy Valentines day Lily,” James said the next morning.
“Thanks James you too,” Lily said smiling.
“Will you go out with me please?” James asked.
“James I’ve already told you no,” Lily said with a mischievous grin, she had something special planned for tonight.
“Happy Valentines day Lauren,” Sirius said happily.
“You too,” Lauren said.
“Here, I got this for you yesterday,” Sirius said handing her a box that was wrapped in pink paper with red hearts. Lauren opened it and found all her favourite candy from Honeydukes.
“Oh, Sirius thank you,” Lauren gave him a hug and then she realized something. “Oh no! I forgot to get you something!”
“That’s okay, I really don’t care,” Sirius said and he really meant it.
“I know but I still feel bad,” Lauren said.
“Lauren, forget about it, I really didn’t need anything anyway,” Sirius gave her hug and kissed her forehead.
“James!” Someone shouted and everyone turned to see a Gryffindor first year named Anna Sharp.
“Hey Anna,” James said.
“James, will you go out with me?” Anna asked blushing. James thought for a moment, if he went out with Anna he would make Lily jealous, but what if he decided that he liked Anna more than Lily? But if he didn’t go out with Anna then other girls would be scared of him and then he might never have a girlfriend.
“Yeah, sure Anna,” James said smiling. Lily felt her heart shatter. She was going to ask James out later tonight as a surprise, she had it all planned; it was going to be really special. Now she would never get to date him. When they got back to the common room Lily told them all that she didn’t feel well which was half true, she was so upset that she thought she would throw up. She told them that she was just going to go to sleep but instead she cried for three hours while she waited for the others to come up to bed when she pretended to be asleep. That night she devised a plan, a plan to destroy Anna, James would be hers soon.

Chapter 15 KEEP IT A SECRET

The next morning Lily woke up early, she had three hours until her first class. She pulled her hair back and put her robes on then walked down to breakfast. The great hall was empty except for three seventh years from Hufflepuff that were wearing their Quidditch robes. Lily ate quickly and then went straight to the library.
“James?” Lily was surprised to see him there; he never went to the library.
“Hey Lily,” he said looking up from a book about hexes.
“What are you doing here?” Lily asked sitting down across from him and looking at the books around him, all of them were about curses and hexes.
“Anna doesn’t like the library,” James said shrugging.
“That still doesn’t explain why you’re here,” Lily said.
“We… She… I… I-I don’t like her,” James stuttered.
“What?” Lily was surprised.
“I don’t like her,” James repeated.
“Well, what’s wrong with her?” Lily asked picking up a book and looking at the Bat-Bogey hex.
“I don’t know, I mean she’s really nice and everything, she’s just… I don’t know… clingy, like she is always right next to me. I mean you saw her last night,” James said.
“No, I went to bed early, remember?” Lily said looking up from her book.
“Oh yeah, well, I just don’t like her, she’s not you,” James said looking at her.
“Thanks,” Lily blushed and looked away.
“I’m going to dump her later, like at breakfast,” James said and Lily smiled.
“Don’t be too hard on her,” Lily said.
“I won’t,” James said. “Why are you in here so early?”
“I was looking for a hex to use on Anna,” Lily said quickly and not looking at James.
“Jealous?” James smirked at her.
“A little,” she admitted.
“Find a good one?” James asked her.
“This Bat- Bogey one looks fun,” Lily said showing it too him.
“A little mean don’t you think?” James said but he was smiling.
“What’s mean?” A voice said behind them. They turned to see Anna staring back at them.
“Nothing,” both Lily and James said hiding the book.
“So what are you doing here Anna?” James asked.
“Looking for you,” Anna said.
“Well, what did you want?” James asked her.
“I want to break up,” Anna said crossing her arms.
“What?” Lily and James asked.
“I wasn’t talking to you Lily. And James, Sirius told me that you liked Lily,” Anna said.
“Well, yeah that’s true,” James said. Anna looked like she was about to cry.
“So we’re over?” Anna asked.
“Guess so,” James said and Anna left the library in tears.
“Lily,” James asked.
“Yes?”
“Will you be my girlfriend?” James asked hoping her answer had changed.
Lily sighed thinking.
“Yes,” Lily smiled.
“Really?” James asked in shock.
“Yes, but can ask you something?” Lily said still not knowing how to ask her next question.
“Anything,” James said.
“Can we keep it a secret?” Lily asked. It’s not that she didn’t like James, she really did, but her friends didn’t, and she didn’t want to put up with them criticizing him.
“I’m going out with the prettiest girl in school and you’re asking me to keep it a secret?” James asked joking with her. Lily felt her face turn red. “Of course, I’ll keep it a secret.”
“Thank you,” Lily leaned across the table and kissed James on the cheek.
“Thank you,” James said rubbing his cheek.
“And, it’s not like we can’t go out, our two best friends are dating, so we will get to spend a lot of time together,” Lily said.
“And we can sneak out at night and I’ll show you all the secret passages that we’ve found.” James said getting excited. They continued to talk for two hours and finally got up to leave to go to their first class.
“Lily, I promise, I will always keep you a secret,” James said. He did too. They had there ups and downs like all relationships do, but they stuck it out. They would sometimes pretend to fight in front of their friends just so they didn’t suspect anything, and sometimes they would have real fights, like during their O.W.L.’s in fifth year, that was their biggest one, James ended up hexing Snape, but Lily and James made up, just like they always did... And always would.

Chapter 16

Lily woke up early that morning; something was tapping on the glass of her window. She rubbed her eyes and looked out her window and saw James’s new owl. She let it in and took the note off of it.

Hey Lily,
I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my house again like last summer and spend the last two weeks of summer with me…
Love ya,
James

Lily pulled out a quill and smiled. She had had so much fun with him last summer.

Hey James,
Would you rather come to my house? You’ve never really spent that much time with my parents and you’ve never seen my house.
Love you too,
Lily

She tied it to the owl’s leg and watched it fly out of the window and out of sight.

***
James read the letter three times. He really liked Lily, but he wasn’t sure about her parents. Her mom seemed nice enough but her dad seemed to hate him and James hadn’t done anything wrong that he knew of…

Hey Lily,
We could split it… I’ll come to your house for a week and then you come to mine… How’s that?
Love you more,
James

He leaned back in his chair, balancing it on two legs. He thought it might be better for them if she was at his house when they left and that way they could go to Diagon Alley with him and his parents. Fifteen minutes later his owl was back.

That sounds good… Can you be here tomorrow around 4?

He wrote his reply: Yes, on the parchment and sent it back. He leaned back farther in his chair and fell.
“James, you okay?” His mom yelled.
“Yes Mom, I’m fine!” He called back.
“Six feet on the floor James,” His mom said peeking into his room.
“Hey, I’ve been talking to Lily,” James started.
“Oh, how is she?” His mom asked.
“She’s fine. We were wondering if we could spend the last two weeks of summer together, I’ll go to her house tomorrow and then she’ll come over here for the last week.”
“Okay, can you travel by floo powder to her house?” His mom asked.
“No, she lives in a muggle city, we can’t get there.” James said.
“Well then you’ll have to fly,” She said.
“But Mom, I can’t fly that far, and I can’t just fly up to her house in the middle of the day! Muggles will see me!” James protested.
“Well, me and your father have places to be tomorrow, so you can fly, or not go at all,” His mom said.
“Can I leave tonight? So I can travel in the dark at least?” James asked.
“Is Lily ok with that?” His mom asked.
“I’ll ask her,” James said as his owl flew back into his open window, he scribbled the new plan onto a piece of parchment and sent the owl, that was now getting frustrated, back out the window.
“What are you planning to do with her next week when she’s here?” His mom asked.
“I don’t know we could…”
“Tell your friends that you’re dating?” His mom suggested.
“No, Lily doesn’t want anyone to know,” James said.
“Then she can hide in the closet next week when your friends come over.”
“What?” James asked.
“Sirius, Remus, and Peter are coming over to spend the last week of summer here. Remember me telling you this?”
“No, when did you decide this?” James asked racking his brains for something about his friends coming over this summer.
“You decided this last month.” His mom said shortly. James stared at her with panic in his eyes. “Have fun,” His mom said walking out of his room and closing the door behind her.
James sat there leaning back on the two back chair legs again thinking about his problem with Lily and his friends. The only thing he could do is tell them that they were dating. But Lily didn’t want anyone to know. What could he do? What could he do? What could he do? He could cancel his friends, but then they would want to know why and he would have to tell them. He could cancel Lily, but he already had said yes and he didn’t want to upset her. His only option was to tell his friends that he and Lily were dating. Now he had to figure out to tell Lily…
He figured he could write in a letter and send it to her… But she might hit him… He could tell her when he saw her tonight… But what if she dumped him? He leaned back in his desk chair thinking. His owl flew the window and landed on his shoulder causing him to jump and fall on his back again.
“Six feet on the floor James!” His mom called from down stairs.

“Ok, are you ready son?” James dad asked.
“Yeah,” James said tying his trunk to his broom. It was six o’clock so by the time he got to Lily’s house it would be around seven and getting dark. Lily had told him that they would be going out to dinner with her family.
“Okay, I’m going to put a charm on you so that you blend in with everything. When you get there just tap your wand on your head and it will go away.” His mom said tapping on his head with her wand. He looked down to see his body was transparent.
“Alright, bye, see you in a week,” James said getting on his broom. His parents waved and watched their son fly away.

***
“Dad, please don’t give him death glares all week!” Lily begged as she ran frantically around the house doing last minute cleaning that didn’t need to be done.
“Why would I give Jimmy death glares?” Her dad Harold asked.
“It’s James, and I know you hate him.” Lily said moving a vase over a few inches on a table and then moving it back.
“Lily, I don’t hate James, I just think you can do better than him,” Harold said.
“Doesn’t everyone?” Lily muttered under her breath. This is why she didn’t want her friends to know she was dating. She loved James. James loved her. Isn’t that good enough? No apparently not. They think James should leave Lily alone. They think Lily needs someone who gets good grades and who isn’t in detention all the time. But Lily still liked James. And she couldn’t see why her friends couldn’t just leave her and her love life alone.
“I agree with your father,” Lily’s mother, Tonya, said coming down the stairs.
“Why? What is wrong with him?” Lily asked getting annoyed with her parents.
“He’s just… just…” her mom started.
“Just what?” Lily almost screamed. “Just a really nice guy that I’m not allowed dating because he gets detention? You know, he is really smart, he is a really good student, he just has fun learning but the teachers are so stupid and don’t want to put up with him having fun so they give him detention. I really like him and he really likes me! Why do you have a problem with that?” Lily was close to tears. Her parents were looking for words.
“You know what, just forget, I’m going on a walk,” Lily said after a few seconds of her parents, still searching for words, stutter and mumble meaningless junk.
Lily ran down her driveway and up her street. She felt hot tears running down her face. Why couldn’t people just accept the fact she liked James. She was upset that she couldn’t trust her three best friends, Taylor, Lauren and Holly, enough to tell them that she even liked James. Lily ran and ran and ran. She didn’t know what time it was, all she knew was that James would be here at seven and they were going out to dinner with her parents when he got here. Lily wasn’t sure she even wanted to dinner with her parents now. Maybe they would let her take the car and her and James could go to dinner on there own. But she couldn’t ignore her parents forever. They were her parents, they weren’t going away. Maybe she should just dump James and forget they had ever dated. She couldn’t do that. She started crying harder at the thought of it. She looked up to see where she was. She was at her old elementary school. She looked at the playground, it was empty. She walked over to the swing set and sat on the middle swing and wrapped her arms around the chains and hung her head. Lily was still crying and didn’t notice that someone had sat down next to her.
“Are you okay?” a guy asked as he put his hand on her back in a comforting way.
Lily sniffed and shook her head, “Yeah.” She didn’t look up, she didn’t want whoever was next to her to see her crying.
“Come on, you’ve been here crying for ten minutes, your not okay,” The voice said.
“I’ll be okay… Do you know what time it is?” Lily asked wiping her eyes on the back of her hand.
“About ten till seven. What’s your name?” the boy asked. Lily looked at him. He looked familiar but she couldn’t remember his name. He looked about her age and he didn’t look bad so she decided it was okay to tell him.
“Lily Evans,” She said. “How about you?”
“You don’t remember me Evans?” He asked with a smile. Who was this guy, she knew she knew him she just couldn’t remember his name. She hadn’t seen him for a while.
“No, I’m sorry, I don’t. I’ve been away for a while.” Lily said with sympathetic smile.
“Do you remember going to school here?” He asked. She wished he would just tell her his name.
“Yes,” Lily said looking up at the school.
“Why did you transfer?” He asked.
“I wanted to go to a year round school and I found a really nice one to.” Lily said which wasn’t a complete lie.
“Do you remember fifth grade? I was in your class.” The boy said.
“JAKE?” Lily said suddenly remembering the boy who had ruined her life in elementary by being a complete jerk to her and getting what felt like the entire school to hate her.
“Yep,” Jake said smiling.
“You’re still living here? I thought you moved.”
“I moved back,” he said shortly.
“Oh,” Lily said.
“So are you still into all that creepy magic stuff?” Jake asked. Lily couldn’t help but laugh.
“Yeah a little,” She said smiling.
“You’re not going to turn me into a toad or something are you?” Jake said jokingly.
“Not tonight, no,” Lily said.
“Look at that bird, it looks like its coming toward us,” Jake said pointing up at an unusually large and deformed bird in the sky that was in fact coming toward them.
“That’s weird. Well Jake I think you better go, I’ll see you later,” Lily said realizing that the bird was her boyfriend coming towards them on a broom.
“No I don’t have to go. I want to talk to you some more,” Jake said.
“No, I have to go to, come on,” Lily said getting up. Jake was still looking at the “bird”.
“It almost looks like a person,” Jake said.
“Jake, I think you’re tired, you better go,” Lily said grabbing his hand and trying to pull him out of the swing. She looked back at James and hoped he realized he couldn’t land here. “Jake, let’s go,” Lily said but Jake was frozen in terror. His eyes were fixed on the “bird” which was diving toward them.
“James no not here,” Lily whispered. Jake started screaming. “Jake hush,” Lily covered his mouth with her hand. James landed a few feet from them. He ran over to Lily and hugged her.
“I missed you sweetheart,” He said hugging her.
“I missed you too,” Lily said with her hand still covering Jakes mouth.
“So who’s this?” James asked.
“James, this Jake,” Lily said.
“He’s a muggle isn’t he?” James whispered so that only Lily would hear. She nodded and James turned around and kicked the pole on the swing set out of anger.
“Jake, I’m going to let go of your mouth and you’re going to be quiet right?” Lily said. Jake nodded. Lily let go of his mouth and he sat there quietly.
“You are a witch, I was right wasn’t I? That’s why you moved!” Jake whispered. Lily took a deep breath, she looked at James. James stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out his wand.
“James no,” Lily said. James winked at her.
“Listen here Jake, you tell anyone what you saw and I swear that you will wish that you were never born. I can do things with this wand that you can’t even imagine in your worst nightmare. Got it?” James said in a threatening voice that even scared Lily. Jake nodded with a sincerely scared look in his eyes. Lily could tell that James was doing his best not to laugh.
“You don’t know where I live, you won’t be able to find me,” Jake stuttered.
“I know where you live,” Lily said. Jake looked at her with true terror in his eyes.
“Don’t tell anyone,” James said. Jake nodded and passed out.
“Oh my gosh!” Lily said starting to rush over to Jake who was now unconscious on the swing but James stopped her.
“No, he’ll think he dreamed it, it will be okay, lets go to your house,” James said picking up his broom.
“Here let me help you,” Lily said and took his trunk.
“So how have you been?” James asked, walking slowly so that they could talk longer.
“Good,” Lily said not looking at James.
“Come on, you were crying when I got here, what’s wrong?” James asked, he was worried about his girlfriend.
“It’s nothing,” Lily said. She couldn’t tell him that her parents hated him and wanted her to dump him and find some one that was supposedly better.
“Lily, you can tell me anything, you know that right?” James said softly. Lily looked at him and gave him a small sad smile.
“It’s nothing,” She said.
“Alright,” James said. Why was his girlfriend keeping things from him? Was she about to dump him? He had seen this a thousand times with Sirius.
“So how has your summer been?” Lily asked after a few minutes.
“Good,” James said. Should he tell her about his friends coming next week now?
“Have you talked to your friends at all?” Lily asked.
“Just by owl, I haven’t seen them yet,” James said.
“Oh, so you won’t see them until school starts?” Lily said. James didn’t think he should tell her yet… Not when she was already upset.
“Yeah,” James said shortly, he hated lying to his girlfriend, but he had to if he didn’t want upset her more. “So have you seen your friends?” James asked trying to keep the conversation going.
“No, I’ve just been talking to them by owl, but since I don’t have an owl I have to wait for them to send me something first and I haven’t heard from them for a while.” Lily said.
“Oh, do you want to borrow my owl?” James asked.
“They would know it was yours and wonder how I got him.”
“Tell them you killed me and took it,” James joked trying to make her laugh.
“Do I seem like I want to kill you James?” Lily asked.
“No, it was a joke,” James said wishing he hadn’t said it now.
“James I don’t want to kill you, I don’t want you to die, I couldn’t live with out you,” Lily said.
“I couldn’t live without you either,” James said smiling at her. She smiled back and they walked in silence back to Lily’s house.

“Where have you been?” Lily’s mom asked when she walked through the front door.
“I went for a walk,” Lily answered.
“You’ve been gone almost an hour,” Her dad said.
“James is here,” Lily said pointing to James in the door way.
“Hello James,” Tonya said then turned back to Lily, “Don’t run away like that again or you will be in some serious trouble got it?”
“Yes mom,” Lily said.
“Go help James put his stuff away he can stay in Petunias room since she’s spending the summer with Alice or whatever her name is…” Harold said.
“Okay,” Lily said and led James up the stairs.
“Why did you run away?” James asked when they got to Petunia’s room.
“It was nothing, don’t worry about it,” Lily said.
“Oh, okay,” James said even though he knew that she was hiding something from her.
“Well, I guess we’ll leave as soon as you’re ready, just dress up a little because we’re going some where that is really fancy and stuff… I’m going to see if my parents will let me drive so that it’s just me and you,” Lily said and left. James opened his trunk and pulled out khaki pants and a navy blue button up shirt. He put them on and tried to fix his hair but it wouldn’t do what he wanted so he messed it up again. He opened the door to leave and ran into Lily.
“Sorry, I was about to knock, my parents said it was okay for the two of us to go.”
“Okay, that’s good,” James said maybe he could ask Lily about telling his friends tonight.
“But I don’t know what I should wear and I want your help,” Lily said shyly.
“Alright,” James said smiling. Lily led the way to her room down the hall. James liked Lily’s room. The walls were a soft green and her bed spread was a light pink. Her room was very clean. James would have known this was Lily’s room even if she hadn’t told him.
“Okay,” Lily said. James sat down on her bed facing Lily’s walk in closet. Lily opened it to reveal a rainbow of colors on one side, all her muggle clothes, and on the other side all black, her school robes. James stood up and walked in to the closet with Lily.
“So what were you thinking of wearing,” James asked trying to remember that he was in the closet to help her find something to wear. For some reason all he could think about was he was in a closet with the hottest girl in school who happened to be his girlfriend who he had never actually kissed.
“Um,” Lily said turning around to face James, “I was thinking about wearing a skirt,” she said. James turned and found all her skirts hanging sorted by color. He started to go through them and Lily stepped closer to him. She was seventeen and had never been kissed before. James had almost kissed her once in the library in fifth year but then their friends had walked in and they didn’t want to be seen. James tried to ignore her.
“What about this one?” James said pulling out a cute flowing skirt that matched her dark green eyes.
“Okay, what about the top?” Lily said and took another step towards him. He took a step back and began to look through her shirts. He wasn’t going to kiss her. He wasn’t going to kiss her. He wasn’t going to kiss her. He wanted to kiss her, he really did. She was just such a good girl and what if she thought they were going to fast or something?
“What about this one?” James said pulling out a plain white top. It had a low neck and over the shoulder sleeves.
“That’s really cute,” Lily said taking it. Hot was the word that James would have used.
“Okay, well I guess I’ll go down stairs and talk to your parents while you get dressed.” James turned and left the closet quickly. Lily stood there. Did he not want to kiss her or something? Did he not like her any more? Maybe he would kiss her tonight…
She got dressed and pulled her long red hair back into a clip on the back of her head. She looked in her full length mirror one more time. She was pleased with the way she looked so she went down stairs to find her parents and James sitting in complete silence in the kitchen.
“Ready James?” She asked.
“Yeah,” He said quickly hopping up from the table.
“Bye, we’ll be home around eleven,” Lily said grabbing James’ hand and walking out the front door before her parents could ask any questions.

Chapter 17 No More Secrets

James wasn’t sure how to bring up the subject of telling Lily that they had to tell their friends… She was already upset with her parents and he wanted her to be happy because he was planning on kissing her tonight…
“So…” James started, he wasn’t sure how to continue.
“Sorry about my parents… Maybe it would have just been easier if I just came to your house for the two weeks… I just thought… Maybe, just maybe my parents might be nice to you… And if they could except that we were dating then maybe we could tell our friends… And maybe they could accept us too but now I… I just don’t know…” Lily said breathing heavily trying not to cry.
“Lily, its okay, don’t worry about it…” James said taking Lily’s hand and squeezing it. Lily gave a faint smile. “You know, your parents just don’t understand… Maybe we should try to tell our friends… I’m mean, they’re dating… And they know what it’s like to love some one so why not tell them… And then if they don’t like it, then whatever… We’ll still have each other…” James said slowly trying to choose his words carefully.
“I don’t know… I mean, we’ve kept it a secret this long so why tell them now… They would be mad that we kept it a secret for so long and didn’t tell them and then they would be mad that we were going out and it would just be a mess…” Lily said. James took a deep breath; he could see that Lily wasn’t going to change her mind so he would just have to tell her.
“Lily, um, I’m sorry, but… When I asked you to come spend next week at my house I wasn’t thinking… I had forgotten that at the beginning of the holiday I asked all my friends to come and spend next week at my house too…” James said quickly trying to get it over with. Lily was quiet for a minute… She was thinking… She couldn’t ask him to cancel on his friends and even if he did they would want to know why… She couldn’t not go because then they might get mad at each other and break up… She was silent for a few more minutes… She didn’t look at James while she was thinking… she looked out the window of the restaurant… Finally she made up her mind and looked at James.
“Could we ask my friends to come to your house too?” She said quietly. James smiled. She was going to let him tell their friends.
“Of course… I’ll write my friends tonight asking them to bring their girlfriends… That doesn’t sound to strange does it?” James said. Lily shook her head… Maybe it would be better if they told their friends.

***

James and Lily sat in James’s living room by the fire that Saturday night. Lily had gone over there on Wednesday instead of Saturday because they ran out of things to do at Lily’s house. Her parents finally started being nice to James, whether they really meant it or if they were just pretending Lily didn’t know, but either way it was nice to not have them giving James death glares every time he walked by them. They had had fun at Lily’s house, she had showed him all the muggle things he had never seen before and they went to all the muggle stores and everything, but they both got a little bored not being able to do magic and her parents said it was okay if Lily went over to James’s a little early so that they could have some time alone at his house with him.
Lily had just about given up on her first kiss being this summer. Even though her parents had lightened up on James they still watched Lily and James like a hawk and James was afraid to kiss her in front of her parents.
“So what time are they supposed to be here?” Lily asked James for about the tenth time. She was excited to see her friends but she was a little nervous about telling them that she was dating James Potter, the school rebel who was in detention all the time, but then again Lauren was dating Sirius Black who was always with James in detention so she really couldn’t say anything.
“Any minute now,” James said looking at his watch.
“Are they all coming at one time?” Lily asked scooting closer to him.
“Yeah, everyone went to Moony’s house and they’re using the floo net work to get here,” James said, he took Lily’s hand, she smiled and squeezed his and laid her head on his shoulder. James smiled and they sat in silence watching the fire for a few minutes. Then suddenly it turned emerald green. Lily and James let go of each other and scooted away from each other, they wanted to say hello to their friends first before they told them. Holly and Peter stepped out of the fire.
“Hey Wormtail,” James greeted his friend eagerly.
“Hey Prongs, hey… Lily?” Peter said surprised to see Lily sitting on the couch where James had just gotten up.
“Lily!” Holly said excited to see her best friend and wondering why on earth was she at James Potter’s house. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“It’s a long story, I’ll tell you when everyone gets here,” Lily said getting up to hug Holly as Lauren and Sirius came spinning into the fire place.
“LILY!” Lauren squealed stepping out of the flames and running over to hug her.
“Hey Lauren,” Lily said.
“Hey why’s Lily here?” Sirius said after he had said hi to James.
“We’ll tell you in a minute when Moony gets here,” James said right as Remus and Taylor came spinning into view.
“Tell us what when Moony gets here?” Remus said stepping out of the fire place holding Taylor’s hand.
“Lily, why are you here?” Taylor said excitedly.
“That’s what we’re about to tell you,” James said getting a little annoyed.
“Oh my god, Lily are you pregnant?” Taylor asked with wide worried eyes.
“No, I’m not pregnant!” Lily said a little shocked that her friend would ask that… We haven’t even kissed yet, she added in her head bitterly.
“Okay, good because I’ve got my wand and I swear if James hurt you I’ll kill him,” Taylor said pulling out her wand.
“I’m not pregnant, I’m fine, chill out okay?” Lily said with a smile.
“On that note,” James said nervously.
“Come on get to it, I want to know what’s wrong,” Lauren said holding Sirius’s hand.
“Girls, chill,” James said laughing at how they thought something was wrong.
“Just tell us what’s wrong!” Holly said.
“Nothing’s wrong,” Lily said smiling. “I have a boyfriend!”
“Oh my goodness who?!?” The girls said excitedly.
“Me,” James said. His friends smiled. The three girls pulled out their wands and pointed them at James.
“Guys!” Lily said.
“What did you do to her?” Taylor asked standing up.
“EXPELLIARMUS!” Lily shouted and her friends’ wands flew to her hand. She put them in her pocket. “Nothing is wrong with him… or me. I like him. He likes me. Okay? He hasn’t put a spell on me or anything… I’m just who I’ve always been and I like him…” There was silence for a moment. “Are you guys okay with that? Are you going to talk?”
“So when did you guys start going out?” Lauren asked after a few minutes of silence. Lily and James looked at each other.
“Um, about a week ago wasn’t it?” He asked.
“Yeah, a week ago and then he asked me to come over here since you guys were coming.” Lauren gave a little smile and nodded but didn’t look up at Lily or James, she just stared at the floor.
“Oh, I’m so happy for you Lily!” Holly said jumping up to hug her.
“I always knew you two would end up together,” Taylor said hugging Lily too.
“You were ready to kill me a minute ago!” James exclaimed with a shocked look on his face.
“Well, at the end of the year Lily threw some big fit about hating you and so I thought either she was a real good actor or the only way she would date you is if you hurt her or gave her love potion or something,” Taylor explained.
“So, now that we’ve gotten what we knew would happen one day what do you guys want to do?” Sirius asked smiling.
“Let’s go swimming!” Lauren said.
“Okay,” everyone agreed.

***

“I can’t believe you finally said yes to him after all these years!” Holly said that night. All four girls were in sleeping bags in the guest bedroom at the Potter’s house. The boys were all in James’s room.
“Well, he’s… I don’t know…” Lily said smiling. Holly, Lily and Taylor giggled. Lauren had talked very much all day.
“Lauren what’s wrong? You’re being awfully quiet…” Lily said. Lauren shrugged and rolled over onto her stomach and faced the others. She looked at Lily.
“You said yes a long time ago didn’t you?” She asked. Lily opened her mouth. “You’ve been keeping it a secret this whole time haven’t you?”
“No… Well…” Lily started.
“I saw you in fifth year, in the library, you two were about to kiss… But then you saw Holly and Taylor walk in after me and pushed him away, I told you guys about that remember?” She looked at Holly and Taylor who nodded.
“Okay, I’ll tell you the truth, but you can’t tell anyone, me and James want it to be a secret, and I don’t think he wants his friends to know.”
“Okay, we won’t tell,” Holly said.
“We started dating in first year,” Lily said smiling.
“Wow,” was all Taylor could say.
“Double wow,” Holly said.
“But why did you keep it a secret?” Lauren asked.
“It’s obvious isn’t it?” Taylor said.
“No not really, we’re supposed to be friends, and friends don’t keep secrets,” Lauren said. Lily could tell that she was really mad.
“Lily is Ms. Goody Goody,” Taylor started. “And James is Mr. Rebel, and if they started dating and people knew about it, it would cause some mass chaos. But why you didn’t tell us I’m kind of confused too, we could have kept a secret.” Lily looked at her three friends in disbelief…
“For six years, every time I would bring up the subject of James all I would here from you three is how much you all hated him, I couldn’t tell you all I liked him! You probably would have killed me!” Lily said angrily, looking pointedly at Taylor.
“I understand,” Holly said sympathetically, Taylor and Lauren looked at there pillows for a few minutes.
“I guess I understand too,” said Taylor, they all looked at Lauren.
“Yeah, me too,” she said with a smile.
“So have you two kissed yet?” Taylor asked excitedly.
“No, not yet,” Lily admitted.
“Well, I’m sure it will happen soon,” Lauren said.
“Yeah, me too,” Holly said smiling. The girls stayed up all night gossiping about everything. They maybe got two hours of sleep. The boys stayed up most of the night too, talking about their girl friends and other things that they found important. James never told his friends that he and Lily had dated since first year, and he never found out that Lily had told her friends.

Okay, this is the last chapter... sad.gif But it ends really happy so I hope you like it!!!! biggrin.gif

Chapter 18

Her friends had now gotten over the shock that she and James were going out. Lily couldn’t believe that her friends had taken it as well as they did. She was expecting them to kill her…. It had been so easy to tell them. Why did she even want to keep it a secret in the first place? She and James could have dated in the open with nothing to hide and they probably could have kissed a million times by now…
Lily sat in the Gryffindor common room staring into the fire. It was the first day back to school. The beginning of the end. She couldn’t believe that she was already a seventh year, it didn’t seem that long ago that the owl had delivered the letter that she thought was joke. She giggled to herself remembering how scared Petunia had been… She hadn’t talked to Petunia all summer, she had tried but Petunia just ignored her, it was horrible, Lily loved her sister, she didn’t ask to be a witch, why did Petunia hate her for it?
Lily and James had been chosen to be Head Boy and Head Girl. Everyone had been expecting for Lily but it was a bit of a shock for James. His friends said he would never hear the end of it… He was dating the perfect girl and he was Head Boy. They laughed and laughed, he had spent most of his time at Hogwarts in detention.
She still couldn’t believe that this was her last year at Hogwarts. She remembered her first year, how nervous she had been with the sorting… Meeting James… The accident with the lake when their friends had tried to set them up… She remembered that she was in the hospital wing a lot… Most of the time it was James’s fault… Or it had something to do with James…
She remembered their first potion class… She had been so annoyed when Slughorn told her that she would work with James for all seven years… But after a while she didn’t mind so much… She remembered their first lesson the Draught of Fantasy, how she had been sitting in the Gryffindor common room staring into the fire and…
“Are you still up?” a voice said behind her. She smiled to her self… Her biggest Fantasy was coming true… She turned around and saw James.
“Yeah I guess so,” She said.
“It’s almost two in the morning, what are you doing down here all alone?” James asked coming and sitting next to her.
“Just thinking…” Lily answered.
“About what?” James asked putting his arm around her shoulder.
“About first year,” Lily said still staring into the fire.
“You know, you never told me what your Draught of Fantasy showed you,” James said looking at Lily.
“This… us… together right now,” Lily said. They stared into the fire in silence for a few minutes. “You know, we still haven’t had our first kiss?” Lily said quietly after a while. James smiled.
“Well, let’s fix that,” He whispered. Lily smiled and lifted her head off of his shoulder. They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed.
"You always were my secret crush James," Lily whispered into his ear. They kissed again.
