If you could have one role model from Hp, who would it be and why?
Because they're brave, well mannered, it's up to you. i s'pose it depends on your personality

Mine would be Lily. She's got her priorities right.

happy posting tongue.gif

Can i have two? Ok i notice your phrase one role model... laugh.gif
Ok umm mine would probably be Hermione, because she really cares about everything, and she's really kind (except when fighting with wonwon tongue.gif ) and is a brilliant witch.
I mean being a witch in itself would be pretty fantastic, but being a good witch - or rather, the brightest witch of your age - would be pretty awesome biggrin.gif

Lily was my second choice for the same reasons as you!

I would have to agree with amortencia_lover by saying Hermione.
She's so smart and handles taking so many classes at the same time, and still being able to handle the adventures that are part of being best friends with Harry.

From the time I started reading Harry Potter my role model is and always be..Dumbledore.He taught me to be patient and I was really suprised when I read about his reaction in Ootp where Harry throws things in his office.I really can't control in that situation and he really infleunced my life.I'm sure there will be people around the world who like Dumbledore but only if we follow his method..I'm sure it would help people lead a happy life. smile.gif

I would say Hermione. She always knows what to do.. and she's always got great ideas. She manages to balance books with boys and she never fails a test. I wish I got as good of grades as she does. I find it so hard to balance friends, school, sports, and drama. It's just too much sometimes!!!
Jamie_Potter
My role model is Harry himself. He holds himself together well. I know that I couldn't face things that devastate like he does. I wouldn't be able to keep going if I saw someone die. Nor would I be okay if I knew my parents were dead. Or if all of my father figures died. Nope. I'd kill myself. I'm not that strong.
After the Burial
I am torn between Dumbledore and Hermione. Both place the value of friendship above everything else. Both are intelligent and hard-working. I suppose I must choose Dumbledore. Hermione's actions toward Ron in Half-Blood Prince bothered me mightily. Dumbledore's flaws aren't quite so obvious.

fantastic question happy.gif ! i'm kinda like Ginny...an all-rounder, except i dont play sports...but i do fun stuff as well as do good in studies...so she wouldnt be my role model...i just like her character, i guess...

however, quite clearly, my role model truly always has been Dumbledore...he's the perfect teacher and man, if i may say so...he's funny, witty, intelligent beyond measure, he's got his morals and principles...he's just so amazing! i dont know where people get the 'dumbledore is evil' topics rolleyes.gif ...he teaches everyone to take things calmly, be patient, nice and bright...he's the most amazing characters i've ever read about in any book!

yes hermione seems to be a role model by default to most people...however, what i dont like about her is that, she's too serious...she needs to loosen and relax...that's her only problem, otherwise, she's a pretty good model as well biggrin.gif

After the Burial
I agree that Hermione needs to relax. Her fear of failure is her primary motivation in school. Although an effective force to make her want to learn, I would prefer if she wanted to succeed rather than fear failing.

Sooner or later, she will fail. I don't know how well she will handle it. She fell to pieces when she only got 10 Outstandings. If she fails in something big, I don't know if she would recover.

That is why I like Dumbledore. It knows that he has failed. It troubles him, but he does not let it worry him or stop him from trying to make things right.
Belatrix Lestrange
Oh um hmm I would have to say Dumbledore because how he handles things so well and how he can admit he was terribly wrong. It takes a lot of patience to be like him. I would have said Hermione but she thinks she sees everything that is going on but she really doesn't I mean with s.p.e.w ( which I totally support) the house elves that were pretty much free she wanted them to leave hogwarts in other words leaving a job that they loved because they loved taking care of people. Oh and also the fact that she took on so many classes because she thought she could be the best but in the end it was to much which is a thing that dumbledore could see from the begining

that is so true! hermione keeps going just so she doesnt fail...but honestly, i dont think its fair to compare Hermione to Dumbledore because there's so much to consider...Dumbledore is old, and therefore, more mature and experienced in ways Hermione just cant be at this age...and there are more things, however i just cant get to them, since my sister's biting my head off here! so i'll be back with more reasons as soon as she leaves me alone!
dawlishlover42
Hands down...Dumbledore because he taught me to look at things not as a matter of if it is hard or easy, but if it is right or easy. Also, he has helped me become wiser. And he's not even stern he's fun!
Belatrix Lestrange
Yeah dawlish is so right on that one Dumbledore is fun and never stern Hermione on the other hand well you know is a bit bossy and stern sometimes shes a mini Mcgonagal... Well it's true (dodges book from Emma watson lovers) I said hermione not emma watson (dodges more books) tongue.gif
molly_of_slytherin
i remember on a DVD interview, Dan Rupert and Emma said they thought Voldemort was the worst role model, because he's evil.

I disagree- i think he's a great role model- if being evil is what you're after. He's gone about it in the right way, going further than anybody else and creating fear of his name alone. He's a strong character, even if he is evil.
(mr olivander, "great things...terrible...but great")
like hitler- no one should copy him, but if they want to be evil and powerful his way is the best way.

i reckon wormtail is the worst role model- he's evil, but nowhere near the voldie league. he's a coward, he betrayed his friends, he always puts himself first...need i go on?

ron's a good role model. he's just as brave as harry but always overshadowed. he doesn't resent harry for it, quite the opposite. he's also so so loyal. i wish i had a ron, he's awesome.

My role model would be Lily Potter, because she's smart and she stands up for the underdog. Also, she sacrificed herself for her son, and gave people second chances.
She's my hero! biggrin.gif
Squib09
That's a hard one!! My role model would be Hermione or Harry. Ok, Hermione. I'd choose her because she knows what she's doing, she's smart, a very brave, too!! Though harry's braver i'm gonna have to pick hermione for her brains happy.gif

If I could have a role model from Harry Potter it would be Dumbledore. I admire Dumbledore's tolerance and wisdom and he can also be fun as well. I chose Dumbledore for the main reason that I think I can learn the most from Dumbledore than any other role model in Harry Potter.
Silver Doe
My role model would be Lily as well. She wanted to protect her son more than anything. She was smart and a good friend. DH spoiler here.

Lily's my hero!

Dumbledore. I mean, he's so brilliant. And he like, knows everything. It would be so officially awesome to know that much about everyone. And he never stops standing up for what's right, even if the public thinks he's nuts and the government is trying to discredit him. I also like how, even though he's got problems in his life, he's always happy, or at least not mentally angry like Harry.
harryjpotter
Mine is definately Harry. I have a lot in common with the character but that he is brave and so ready to fight that which threatens those he loves and risk everything to defeat evil is an inspiration. Also, he never stops believing in love.
acidpop
I can't believe no one has said Professor McGonagall!

I think she is who I'd have to choose. She has something I really admire in a person. She never backs down. She really is the definition of a strong woman. If I had daughters I would love to see them look up to her.

Dumbledore is definitely not a role model that I'd want my children to have. I wouldn't approve of them learning to treat people as if they're pawns.

I am going to go with Molly Weasley as the perfect role model. She is my idea of what every Mum should be throughout the series. She has loads of children, wants loads of grandchildren. She has enough love to take Harry as her own, keep her husband in love with her AND somehow finds time to work with the Order . She is the perfect domestic. She has the burrow running like a machine. Her children adore her and fear her wrath all at the same time. Yes, I wouldn't mind if she was my Mum at all and I wouldn't mind being a Mum like her either.
