This has been playing on my mind for a while now. Just wondering what people think.

What about this:

The Sims at Hogwarts. You create your 11 year old character, choose their pet etc. They then enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They are sorted into a house according to how they answer a series of questions.

As in the popular game the Sims, you guide your character through the first year. You make them attend their classes, do their homework, join whatever clubs interest you and in the free time make them socialize with those around them. Guide them in their relationships, either friendly or otherwise. At the end of the year they are assesed, the scores being based on how many lessons are attended, homeworks completed and detentions earned. If they pass (either A for acceptable, E for excede's expectations and O for outstanding) they continue to their 2nd year and so on through the school. If a pass grade is not acheived, the year must be completed again untill a pass is aquired.

At the end of each year, their is the option to adjust how your character looks and their pet's equiptment.

At the end of 5th year, you're given the chance to choose what wizarding job you aspire to. If a pass grade is attained in the Ordinary Wizarding Levels (exam at the end of that year), they proceed to their NEWT years, studying only the subjects their chosen job requires, with free study periods etc. The sixth year is passed much like the others, ending in the usual exam. The 7th and final year, the homework increases, therefore increasing the pressure to pass the final exam. If the final exam is passed, the game is complete as you're character has become a qualified wizard or witch.

Personally i think that's a cool idea! Just you post that idea to some amazing computer genius who can convert that into a game and woot, woot! *grins*

It would also be cool if you could have default characters, like either Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco... you get the drift and you could go through the years and see the events that happen in books from their perspective! Maybe that could be another game idea! lol

I think this game sounds really fun. The Sims games are so addicting in the first place, I'm afraid to see what a HP game would be like! I'm kind of surprised they haven't made one yet actually.

I also like the idea of making default character. The trio plus Draco sounds about right.

You can actually download a whole world of Harry Potter for sims 2 here. This is actually only 1 site of many that you can download from. Some people have made fantastic little sketches that you can view on YouTube here. Have fun!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm writting a letter including what you've suggested to J.K.Rowling, EA Games and Warner Brothers. Hope you don't mind me using you're quotes in my appeal. If you do mind, PM me and I'll be sure not to use your post. Hopefully something will become of it. I think that would be a brilliant idea for a game!! I would probably buy it straight away or pre-order it if i knew a game like that would be coming out. Another good element to it could be that you can connect to other users playing the game therefore increasing your friends and socializing. Instead of a series of questions for the sorting, what about a series of little real life scenarios that you have to take part in, and judged on how you act, you get sorted into the houses. I'd save up to get it!! Maybe after the hogwarts game, there could be another game where you get a job in the wizarding world, meet a husband..have baby wizards and witchs!! Im getting carried away now lol =]

I own all of the Sims2 games and the expansion packs. I've got Sims2 University and I have about 20 HP charactors that I play as. Lets see I have Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus, and the Slytherins (Draco, Crabbe, Goyle and Blaise living in the Slytherin Frat House) how ironic Gryffindors and Slytherins sharing a house? I have Fred, George, Dean, Ernie, Justin and one other guy (cant remember who at the moment) living in the Hufflepuff Frat House. Then I have Hermione, Ginny, Padma, Parvati, Lavender, Alicia, and Angelina living in the Gryffindor Sorority House. Then I have Luna, Susan, Hannah, Cho and someone else living in the Ravenclaw Sorority House. All of the above charactors live quite harmoniously together and party in college. I even have the Dark Lord Frat House, which has Voldy, Snape, Sirius, Remus, Mad Eye and Lucius living in it... Its just too funny playing the Sims2 University with all of the HP people in it. In other games I have (Sims2 Pets, Nightlife, and Sims2 Seasons, I have random couples married).

OMG! That would be so fun! I agree with Megan there should be life after Hogwarts too with little baby witches and wizzards! I would buy that, DEFINATLY! I have some of the Sims2 games, about half. I downloaded some Harry Potter characters from the sims2.com but they don't act like the characters! So like you should make a kid and then they you answear questions to be sorted! I would like DIE if they made that a game. I would be SO addicted! LOL! Then after there sorted they go into there common rooms and like if your gryfindor you live with Harry, Ron and, Hermione and other people in the books! Then if your Hufflepuff (like me!) you would be with Cedric and characters from that house! Then you would go to classes and study and try out for quiddicth! You would use the arrow keys to move. That would be a mini game. Then after Hogwarts you have a BIG graduation party and start a life of your own. You could like get a job as a Healer, or and Auror, Ect... Then you could have little babies. Then about halfway though thier kid years the get the letter and you can except to go or not or when making a character you could set it to make a magical person or a regular person. Then thier kids go to school and then there kids and on and on and on and on..... SO AWSOME!!!!!!!!!! Heres a list of stuff for it...................

Thanks for all of your comments! This is wonderful. I know about the Sims 2 with the Harry Potter characters but I think it would be cool if it was actually set in Hogwarts. Keep the suggestions coming. It's all going to help when I write to the powers above. If they see that people would actually buy it, it's a good incentive.

Thats a great idea I love it! Im a big Sims fan but it tends to get boring after a while but still Hogwarts Sims would be awesome they could even have like the Triwizard Tournament come and stuff like that. I dont know how you could make it a reality though you could mail EAwith your idea I guess but they would have to have Warner Bros permission I bet, but it would be awesome!!!!
I really hope you can make it happen.

you know what else would be cool if like when you firrst start creating a family you can choose muggleborn, halfblood, or pureblood. and you can take them to Diagon Alley and 3rd years and above can go to Hogsmeade. The students could choose to stay for the Holdidays or go home but this is such a good idea.

I love this idea!! I would definatley go on this like in all my spare time! I think you should be able to like go on after Hogwarts aswell and do stuff like Auror training or other job stuff as well

Ooh you could have a like default game where, like the other HP games you have to guide him through the events in the books... but you control like his social life and his classes and stuff.

You should definatley write a letter to some game companies and suggest it, if they're not already thinking of it. I mean, it would be such a great game they would make so much money from it it would be in so much popular demand!! They could make billions from this!

i think that what you do is you either choose to be in harrys year and then you go from first year, but also i think what you should do is start in diagon alley buy all your stuff and your given a budget like on the sims games *no doubt if the game was created thered be cheats all over the internet. And once you've bought your stuff you can just look around and meet people and make friends

then you go to platform 9 3/4 and get on the train, either get in your own compartment on meet new people again and get more friends, if you sit in your own compartment then during the journey someone should come in like ron does to harry and then you get friends with them

then the sorting and everything and you always have an enemy from slytherin if your placed in gryffindor or the other way around.

then you just do your school years and you can decide to go home for the holidays, stay at hogwarts or if you dont wanna go home go to a friends, and during summer you can go home but this goes by very quick until you choose go to diagon alley and then you can update all your belongins and get new books and then you do what you want after that by either going back to your home, to a friends or just skip to the train, or what you could do at the end of the school year is go straight to diagon alley or go home.

During every school year there should be somthing new going on and you have to try and help out with defeating what it is or whatever, sorta like harry ron and hermione do.

You sit your OWLs and NEWTs and then after school life you get a job and you have to live the rest of your characters life.

During your school life, like the simsgames you can get a girlfriend/boyfriend and during life after school you can do the same but get a husband/wife aswell.

During your first year aswell you should do flying lessons and if you get a high grade at that you can try out for the quidditch team.

The castle in the game should be made as much like the castle in the films as possible and the students like harry, ron, hermione, malfoy and his crew... basically the people who are in the film should look as much like they do in the film as well to make it more realistic

You should also be able to type what you want to say so that you are able to make new friends and things and all the other things you need speaking for

so basically you can tell im ecouraging you to write a letter around with your ideas and more ideas from people that you like to try and get that game real. but if you are gonna write it don't write it until this topic has loads of replys *loads as in over 50 or more* so then you can include in the letter the fact you posted it on here and you've had however many replys you've had and there all like possitive replys.

as much as id like that game to happen i doubt it will. although if it did id be 1st in cue to buy it. When i was scrolling throught the list of threads to read and i saw this one my jaw dorpped as my 1st thought was that you were commenting on a game lol!

Its a really nice idea and i realy want it to be made now LOL!but i guess we will have to settle with the vidio games

I used to play a game called ' Habbo Hotel ' and they had Hoggy's on there.
Interactive over the internaet game.. it was pretty fun at the time.
But i thought it would be cool to make a server like that with only magic being taught

You never know, if enough people get interested then it could happen. i think it would be amazing if it did happen and i'd deffinatley buy it.

if it was made it would be great if it was just like a normal school day but magic instead, like you go to all your lessons and do them were as on the sims 2 university you send your person to school then wait for them to come back.

That'd be awesome. I don't think I've ever played the sims before, but I know what it's all about and a Harry Potter version would be great, and would no doubt be a big seller for whoever manufactered it. Sim fans would check it out, Harry Potter fans would check it out, it's definetly a potential big money maker, and would be great for Sims and Harry Potter fans alike.

That would be awesome! I'm sad that The Sims 2 doesn't have a Harry-Potter like expansion pack, especially since Makin' Magic for the Sims 1 seemed to be inspired by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It would be cool to choose if you were muggle-born, half-blood, or pureblood, and get sorted into your house based on your personality, interests, and choice.

I luv this idea. i am a big Sims fan but i only have 2 games because my mom thinks the other ones r 2 inapropret. dont minde my speling. aney ways i would bye it if i could get enouph monny 2 bye the gam but i would eventualy. or my parents would bye it 4 me insted. i ju8ts have 1 thing 2 add 2 the game. make it in DS and all the other types of games. i would just die if i coulnt play it because i didnt have a X-Box360 or somthing like that.

That' would be a sweet game: The Sims: Harry Potter Edition...You could get a job at the ministry or at hogwarts, and your kids go to hogwarts...That's awesome I want it, if they made it I would totally buy it..

PS: Maybe another idea is when you're 9-10 yrs. old, you show little signs of magic when your emotions peak (ie: you're really happy/mad), and you have emotion meters that look like the hunger, bathroom, etc. meters! I like ollie-hampson's ideas too!

Cool a Hogwarts Sims game would be neat. I agree with taterchris about the magic/ emotion meter. My only problem is I stink at Sims games. The times I try to play them my people never do what I want and are annoying.

If one of you sims meters are down (for example, if the bladder meter is low- meaning they've got to use the bathroom), then they won't do something else like watch the TV until that's done.

I wrote to J K, E A Games and Warner Bros about a month ago voicing my suggestion and showing them some of the feed back I've recieved from all of you lovely people. I'm going to add the latest feedback and send it again. I'll keep trying until I at least get a response. Thanks everyone for your support.

I can't believe they haven't made the game already. Someone said that already. And everyone's ideas are really good. I would buy it. As someone said, Sims is already addicting, then with the magic of Harry Potter and Hogwarts, ahh I'd never be off the computer. I would love it!

And I wish I had Sims 2 on this computer. Then I could download the Harry Potter expansion pack. I love the Sims. and I love Harry Potter. I don't really have much time, though, when I really think about it. Oh well. It would still be great!

Hi, i know you made this post kind of a while ago, but I really like your idea. Unfortunately, I am not very creative in this field and have no real ideas on how you could make it a reality, but I think if you actually have the means to create this game, you should go for it!! It seema like a whole lot of fun, and I would definetely buy it. You should probably start by contacting Maxis (the company that makes The Sims games), and all the people that you already are contacting . I really hope that you get this idea off the ground and have some success with it...

maxis (brand who makes sims), has recently been bought out by ea games (harry potter brand), so theoretically this could be made for real, if someone could get in contact with EA games.

This is what i am thinking too...A Virtual wizard world.

You can have normal kid in the sims, but then when the kid gonna grow into teen age, some of the special one or the one who is already in wizard families will get letter, and then they would spent there teen age life in Hogwarts.

Another thing i wanna see is virtual online hogwart, where you are 1 student in an online world of Hogwart(and wizarding world). You can interact with other people, go to class, duel and so on

but i think it should be more of a roleplay type game instead of like the sims, mainly cos they dont even speak english.

it should sorta be like the movie games but you just create a character and go through life as that character

instead of being like the sims it should be like the movie games because there more true to the actual lifestyle of a wizard in hogwarts.

That would be sooooooooo cool!! I'd definitly buy it.. but I guess they think that it'd look to much like Abracadabra in The Sims 1. And they need to make the whole Diagon Alley, and Hogwarts. That's really hard.

I have another idea!

What if you had Spell bars, like the Creativity and Logic bars, that you had to build up when you learned it. The higher the bar is built up, the better results you'll get when you attempt it. This can be a scale:

0= failure every time
1= 1 out of 10 work
2= 2 out of 10 work
3= 3 out of 10 work
4= 4 out of 10 work
5= 5 out of 10 work
6= 6 out of 10 work
7= 7 out of 10 work
8= 8 out of 10 work
9= 9 out of 10 work
10= 10 out of 10 work

So that's my idea!

i'd love to be able to click on a passing slytherin and pick "stun" "bat bogey hex" "rictasempra" "petrificus totallus".... you get the picture!

we could have pets too, and there'd be so much to buy and upgrade to, like brooms and weasley's wizard merchandise.

and yes i agree, in the skills meters we should have magical ability! like for the different subjects: your level in DADA determines how strong your patronus is, your level in charms affects your control over levitation etc. part of the homework could be improving these points. and if you don't have enough skill in potion and attempt to make a complicated one it could be a disaster!

and they could watch quidditch on sims sports channel

Yeah, that all sounds really good.

I think you should get challenges and stuff set as well, like homework assignments from teachers, like Snape could ask you to go and find some potion ingredients. You could have flying lessons, and you cold learn how to fly a hippogriff in COMC

And like you could work your way through the school years, as an original character and you could be in the same year as H/R/HG and you could see everything that happened in the books, and you could also choose to help or just be passive to it all.

I love the idea of a HP Sims game -they're really missing out on a huge profit maker by not doing it.

Thats a reall good idea, you know. But yeah i agree, you should set questions on homework and give us options... and for a test, we should be able to see the questions and answer them and then that would mean that it would be upto us if Harry passes or failles. And it would be cool if we could switch charecters every now and again...

^I like your idea, it would be great if we were able to answer the exam and lesson's questions. I am a big sims fan and Harry Potter in it wud be amazing

Since I saw the first movie of Harry Potter as I hadn't read any of the books. I always wanted to have a game where I could be a character in Hogwarts (just like the one in my fanfic) with HP/RW/HG and I'm still waiting for that dream to come true. I hope it does soon because I'm going to go mad if it doesn't.

taterchris that is a really good idea about having our skill levels be magical abilities categorized by magical subject wow this would be such a good idea I really hope it happens I would be willing to pay for this game and im sure any harry potter fan as well as any sim fan woud be willing to buy this game because it would be amazing!

Apparently the new Apartment Life expansion pack will have witches! Yay! You can learn how to brew potions and cast spells, I'm really excited! You even choose whether you want to be a good, bad, or neutral witch. It's not much, but I guess this is better than nothing at all...

I was just wondering Tallie, if you've heard anything back from any game companies.

I was thinking the other day that the first Pirates of the Carribean game for PC would be a good Harry Potter type game as that doesn't follow "The Curse Of The Black Pearl" movie but just goes its own way as you start with a character who isnt even in the film.

So i was thinking that if we get enough people to comment on this topic, get people interested it could be made possible.

I might send of letters to companies like Bethesada Softworks and companies like that with my ideas and the ideas of everyone else in this topic as i do feel as though this would be a brilliant game and in all honesty, i would love to have it made.

So before i do start sending letters off if anyone has more ideas then post them because the more ideas i have then the more the reader of my letters will see how many people want this game made and also it would give it a greater chance of having more included in the game if it is to be made.

I don't mean to take away the idea away from Tallie so i will include that she is the idea behind it.

There are ways that you can get the whole entire HP cast incorporated into your existing Sims2 games...go to TheSims2Mod.com and they have everything that you need to have a Hogwarts like neighborhood....I tried these mods but unfortunately my computer lacked the hard drive space to accomadate all of these mods ultimately it crashed and took my Sims2 installmnets with it..Luckily I was able to re-download the Sims2 and all is well now minus the mods.....Yes Apartment Life will have a little bit of magic for your Sims to enjoy....

I've always wondered why EA Games has not come out with a Harry Potter version of The Sims yet. Since they also make the Harry Potter games for the movies, you would think that somebody would have thought of doing that because The Sims is such a popular concept. Maybe they'll do something like that with The Sims 3 - it sounds like it would be more conducive for a Harry Potter style game to me.

However, all is not lost. The ability to customize your Sims game is what I love most about playing it. I've found some really great downloads to customize your own Harry Potter sims.

The Harry Potter Project

Lots of great stuff here. All the downloads are in the comments section - posts 2-13. Magic skill, a working cauldron that you can actually make potions, animated "haunted" paintings, a spellbook to build up your magic skill points - the cauldron does that as well, Harry Potter careers, a pensieve, the Weasley clock, ghosts with transparent or invisible skin, various Harry Potter character sims already created, and links to other useful content.

The most amazing, realistic Harry Potter sims have been made by Meike/Udon'tKnow. I'm still anxiously awaiting her to upload Ron Weasley at TSR, but I've got Harry, Hermione, Voldemort, and Snape. They look awesome in the game.
