Just a reminder too all participants that this is the Ron/Luna Ship thread.
Therefore it is to be discussing why the relationship of Ron/Luna is favourable, possible, canon-ised etc.
If you are against this ship, DO NOT post here- there are several venom threads or other ship threads if you do not support this one.
As well as that, if you are supporting another ship- post in THAT respective thread. This is not the thread to be posting up support for OTHER relationships. Please restrict it to Luna and Ron related material.

Me gusta Ron y Luna tambien. Yo se que Luna le gusta Ron y con tiempo Ron se va enamorar con ella.

I thought we needed to bring this thread out in the open again!
I have always thought that Ron and Luna would make a great couple. She is eccentric, no doubt, but this only adds to her charm. I really think that she is totally bonkers for Ron. She is the type of girl that will whisper sweet nothings into Ron's ears, and make him drool after her for having done so!
I also think that Ron is beginning to take a shine to her. There is a scene in HBP, where Ron actually admits as much. Could this be a foreshadowing? I hope so!

I have come to realize that the majority of people who supprot this ship are Harmonians (Harry/Hermione shippers.) I am not here to start a fight, as I believe that R/Hrs like myself and H/Hrs can co-exist
peacefully, but I don't think Luna likes Ron that way.
I firmly believe that Ron will end up with Hermione instead, but I
do find this
kinda cute...

I think Ron Loves all the girl, he loves Fleur Delacour, Hermione, maybe Luna but Hermione is the best, he would't expresse his feeling but is the same for Hermione, this is a great love history. What is more J.K include some characters as Luna to install a trouble between Ron and Hermione so that outstrip them, whereas there is this gap, the feelings are more intense, as a consequence at the end Ron and Hermione will bein love "officialy".

I agree whole-heartedly! JKR can give her readers R/L easily. We just have to remember 3 things:
(1) Ron and Hermione are
not an item at the end of HBP. It is
only speculation that they will be in the final book;
(2) Luna is simply looney

for Ron, and
she is "growing" on Ron (could this perhaps be a foreshadowing of things to come between them?)
and,
(3) Book 7 will take place over the course of another (school) year and bringing Ron and Luna together shouldn't be a problem. I seriously doubt that it will take most of the book to write in their relationship (like JKR did with H/G in HBP).
Ron will certainly see Luna in a more positive and favorable light in that last book!

Oh, isn't she? I love this wacky relationship. I really do!
I'm really bad with book references but wasn't there a part in the book where Ron smiled and shook his head at Luna said or what he was doing? Or didn't he say something on the lines of 'I think she's growing on me.'
Something like that??
Somebody help me!

Time to... oh, re-resurrect this ship from the bottom of the SHIPS! Section - if that makes any sense at all. We should really work on recruitment and publicizing our ship to the masses. Anyone up for writing some fan fiction (or know of any good ones)?
I have to say, as odd as Luna is, she is one
amazing character. I absolutely love her personality!
As for her feelings towards Ron, they are definitely there. She is obliging to him and finds him enjoyable to be around. And, as in Half-Blood Prince, Ron starts to feel the same way! Did anyone else get the sense that Luna's interest in Ron matured a bit in the sixth book?
As for quotes - which I am horrendous at, by the way - I will have to get back to that. Don't let this ship sink back to the bottom again!!!

I got the same vibes for this pair when I read HBP!
Luna is quirky, but she seems to be genuine. She's the real McCoy! Nothing phony about her. I would love to see JKR make it R/L in the last book.
The "she's growing on me" (paraphrased) comment by Ron (about Luna) could very well be a foreshadowing of their relationship. Slightly subtle, but so typical JKR!

Personally, I think half of the weird things Luna says is a device to keep people from getting too close to her, or to weed out the igits.
One of the things I liked in HBP was Ron finally giving a girl a compliment just because he could...not because she was helping him with his lessons. That sealed Ron/Luna for me and we can thank Harry for it. Why? Because he was brave enough to take her to Slughorn's party. This let Ron know Luna was just a normal girl and the blunt, lively Quidditch commentary appealed to his sense of humor. I have no doubt we will see Luna again in DH and it will be interesting to see how these two interact.
OotP: Luna-->Ron
HBP: Ron-->Luna
DH: Ron<-->Luna, probably after the first three quarters of the book. I have a feeling Ron will be taking out of action (as he usually is) and Luna will come around to cheer him up.

Good points Nymphe. As a HHr and NG shipper, I'm somewhat RL by default, though I do think they have potential and would make a cute couple--I do definitely think that Luna had a crush on Ron in OoTP (she had heard all the gossip about him from Padma, as good as said that she would have liked to go to the Yule Ball with him, volunteered out of the blue to carry HIS owl (as opposed to Crookshanks), etc. In OoTP Ron was simply confused and bemused by her, but in HBP (to my delight!) he actually admits that she's not bad at all, and clearly enjoyed her commentary and found her to be funny (in a good way though--laughing with not always at). I think that's as good a foundation as any for a relationship--clearly they both like each other, and I think that they would be good together--I think Luna can entertain Ron better than Hermione can, and he needs someone like her--someone who doesn't always belittle and disdain him, who respects him as a person and thinks well of him, while Luna doesn't take the kind of **** from him that Hermione does, or she doesn't mind his insults as much and can handle them without breaking down--so it would be better for the both of them to be together, IMO, then with other people.
So in short, I like them both because I consider them to be more compatible than RHr, and b/c it's sister ship to HHr and NG, and one way for everyone to have someone (which I think should be the case--I don't want Neville or Luna to be lonely, and JK has already said that they won't be together...). I'm not into Ron/Luna as much as I support Neville/Ginny, but I'm still in favor of it--sadly though I don't think it's going to happen. Best case scenario for me, is RHr (since it seems like JK's going that way and if it's going to happen), but with NG and HL--then everyone still has someone, and NG happens (and HG doesn't!) But one can always hope...and again, I think Ron and Luna would make a nice couple, and that the possibility is there for Ron to change his mind and for it to happen.

I have to say, I've never really thought much about Luna until the end of Order of the Phoenix, when Harry was feeling sympathy towards her and I thought "Oh no! Not her now!" Don't get me wrong (I like Luna), but I did not want to see Harry with her. I thought about it and, as nice as Neville was to her, I think that she and Ron - with all their asides - struck my fancy more. They just seemed... well-suited for each other. It never really crossed my mind to make it fit with the other relationships I liked (okay, I lie, but it still is a nice thought...).
But Ron/Luna is definitely set up very well - though I feel there is not much else to say as the support they have is strong but scant. Otherwise, I feel redundant.
Oh, well, this ship is
amazing!!!Kudos!

We will have to see how the wedding goes in DH and R/H relationship. This is still one of my favourite ships in the Hp universe

Feb 8 2007, 08:31 PM
I think of this as one of those wishful things that I
want to work, and thus will will it any possible way. Besides, Luna is pretty clear that she feels Ron has an amusing personality/character. Ron, on the other hand, seems to be more subtle - because, I believe, he doesn't know what his feelings towards Luna quite are, and can only classify them as 'growing on him'.
We'll just have to wait and see, but July seems like forever...
Nymphe
Feb 10 2007, 04:03 PM
Another factor in favor of R/Lu is the fact that neither character is subtle in their mannerisms. Ron says exactly what is on his mind, even if people misinterpret his intent. For example: if he finds girl pretty, he says so...if she is ugly, he will say it as well. This makes him a total clueless prat a good part of the time, moderately improved by his near death experience.
Luna also says what is on her mind, no matter how far out it may sound to others...especially to Hermione. If you really analyse Hermione's behavior towards Luna in OotP, you will see she shows the same amount of contempt for what comes out of Luna's mouth, as well as Ron's.
What changed Hermione's behavior towards Luna in HBP? Their adventure in the DoM. Granted, Hermione will still think Luna's mythical musings are daft, but she tempered them enough to tolerate Luna being around. It took Ron's NDE to temper Hermione behavior towards him, but she still made snide remarks to him along the way. It makes me wonder if Hermione is being set up to point out R/Lu to the rest of the characters.

You know, the more that I think about this ship, the more I like it and am convinced it has a good chance of happening. Ron, who's always been overshadowed by his brothers - as evidenced by his image in the Mirror of Erised and Dumbledore's explanation of Ron's view - and now faces the growing popularity of his sister, need to find a way to fit in. He's been chasing girls for the past year, partially out of inexperience and partially out of his dreams, but what is perfect and waiting for him is sitting right in front of his nose. Namely: Luna.
Here's someone he can appreciate, laught at her humour, enjoy what she does, and so on. Likewise, Luna is one of the most perceptive characters in the books and sees things plainly for what they are and is capable of looking past the person Ron wants and tries to be and really sees him - an average guy, funny in his own way, and pretty darn good at Quidditch when he tries. Actually, that got me wondering if Luna volunteered to call the matches purely for the chance to see Ron play because she enjoys watching what he does; that, along with the fact that no one else would do it. But, all said, she really can appreciate Ron and has a side to her that is not too quirky that Ron gets a glimpse of every now and then and thinks/says: 'Hmm... That Luna... She's not that bad at all... And kind of funny too...'
Yes, I definitely see the beginnings of something good here - something
outrageously good!
I'm so happy!

Okay, time to revive this thread! Come on people, even Ron/Pansy has more recent posts than this! (Not to put down those people or that relationship! I am just making a comparison!

)
So, I was over at the Sugar-Covered-Quills forum, and someone mentioned something at once outrageous and stunning:
If you look at screen shots from Order of the Phoenix, Luna is carrying a handbag. Likewise, Ron has his fashionable handbag (or manbag, to be more masculine). Therefore, a new nickname has been coined for our relationship: HANDBAGS!!! (or MANBAGS, if you prefer that...

)
Show the Ron/Luna support! Only less than a month and a half until we get to see more of these two interacting!

Yeah!! Ron and Luna together forever!!
Seriously though,
I really think this couple is going to be together in Book 7. I don't really think Ron like Hermione any more than a brother/friend.
There is a scene where Ron compiments Luna on her commentary and he is being totally sincere, not maing fun of her, not teasing and when she leaves Ron tells Harry that "she's strating to grow on me"
Right there is when something clicked in my head and I was like "Yeah!! This has potential for being a GREAT ship!!! Go JK!"
So......who wants to start the bidding???
I say 50 Galleons on R/L!

you know what i love this ship. its so cute. for all of the ron lovers who will probably get upset if he doesnt end up with Hermione they should really be upset if he doesnt end up with Luna. She's awesome and i think that they're personalities match well. Ron thinks Luna's funny and Luna doesn't mind Ron's well...ron-ness and if he ever says stuff that she finds to be mean or rude or whatever she just politely tells him to his face without having to start a fight about it like him and Hermione do. I think Ron and Luna are perfect for each other.

You hit the nail on the head there,
bigkisses13! They understand each other, albeit in a different and somewhat strange way, but the fact is that they do. Luna's growing on Ron, to be sure (he even admits it!

I love the idea of Ron with Luna. Ron will get into his bickering mode and Luna will squash it from the start by totally ignoring it and thereby making Ron feel like he has won the argument. LOL. I really do think that Luna is good for Ron. They do make a cute couple!

Anyone catch the Ron/Luna moments in the new movie? I saw one in a D.A. scene where you can see Luna's eyes tracking Ron as they line-up to practise a spell. Just thought it was cute!
Oh, and the bridge scene right before heading on the "rescue mission"... My favourite three relationships practically canonised by the directors!!!

Also, I love how in Order of the Phoenix (book), Luna tells Ron "Good luck, Ronald!" before their first match with Slytherin (where she wears that ridiculous hat!).

Well, of course, the best relationships usually don't start Romantically to begin with. Like you said, Forever Never, they like each other in their own special ways. I think that is the first step to something truly amazing. Maybe it's just a great friendship, but I hope it's something more.

I've always been an avid H/Hr shipper (Pumpkin Pie RULES!!) - since the first book, the first movie. My mom, who is (unfortunately) a fan of the "OBHWF" is always pestering me about who Ron would end up with if Harmony were to happen. I had never really given that much thought, I'd realized, because Ron was never really very important to me, I never bonded with his character. (Don't go stereotyping everyone else because of my opinions..) And so I re-visited the books and discovered how great he and Luna could be together!!
They're so incredibly different...and yet so incredibly alike!! And it's
obvious that we at least have feelings towards the other on Luna's part.

Sigh, if only Ron would return them. I was sad to see that diminish in Deathly Hallows; it could have been so lovely...what a shame.
No relationships I support ever turn out the way I want them to, do they?

Luna Lover, I totally agree. I think she used to like ron, then by the end of OoTP she likes Harry, then by around end of HBP, begining of DH, she falls for Neville. and then even tho JKR says otherwise, i have always seen it as Luna & Neville getting married and Neville planting lots of random plants in Luna's garden and Luna bringing home new interesting pets everyday

i know i know

but thats how i saw Luna and her happy ending

To quote ThePhoenixEffect "a) JKR introduces Luna - whom I'm sure will be important in non-shipping ways - and shows that Luna is particularly taken with Ron- she stares at him- she laughs at his jokes- she calls him Ronald- she basically tells him she wouldn't have minded going with him to the Yule Ball- she wishes him (but not Harry) good luck at quidditch and wears a Gryffindor lion hat- she isn't bothered by Ron's rudeness the way Hermione is- she sings the Weasley is our king song during the meeting with RitaJKR also splits up the group at the DOM so that Ron is with Luna and Harry is with Hermione.JKR calls Luna the anti-Hermione."
Now...Let me put in my Two cents.In HBP Ronald clearly began to warm up to Luna.He even began thinking about her.And speaking about her.When no one else was.Just as she does with him.As well. I believe that she is the only girl in Canon to ever make Ron laugh!
He loves Quiddetch.He also really liked her Commentating of the Match.Even complimenting her on it.And Ron either speaking to Luna or Harry said.That he hopes she continue`s as a Quidettch Sports Commentator! Add on to that.The fact that she loves to watch him play the game...And well.I think Ronald and Luna could have really been good together.

Sigh...
I would have loved to have known what she was thinking and feeling during their Adventure in DOM!
There is something else that I like about R/L.Hermione gets someone else to bicker with! For if you notice in Canon.Hermione tended to bicker with Luna as about as much as she does with Ron.Yet no one ever says that Hermione and Luna secretly love each other.So why is it that during The H/Hr vs R/Hr Debate Threads.That so many R/Hr Shippers.Constantly spoke of how Ron and Hermione`s bickering was about, UST?!:blink:
Hmph...
Happy Valentine`s Day!
