i was looking at the book covers again. but this time i stared more into detailed areas ofn the uk cover.i found a couple of interesting things. so hang tight.

well firstly the most noticable part (well i think so) is that ron and hermione are wearing dress robes. are they coming straight from the wedding?

now that i got that out of the way. i want to looks at the armor in the front. the one on the left has a serpent on it, and the one on the right has a 'griffin' on it. here is what i found on griffins:
QUOTE
There are a couple descriptions for Griffins: one is that it is part bird and part lion. Sometimes it is specified as part lion, part eagle. Occasionally, it is represented as a lion's body with an eagles head (without wings.) Griffins are frequently large, capable of carrying a man and horse, or an elephant, in its talons. The term Griffin is also used to describe a large bird (see Roc.)

this is probably where gryffondor comes from...
heres what i also found from other sources:
they can cure the bite of a snake with what they produce
what they produce is emerald green
a hippogriff is the offspring of a grffin and mare
it was on the knocker of dumbledore's office
they also used to be the gaurdians of the hold grail. which is a 'hallowed'object

okay. i found alot on the symbol so please be patient. each shape represents somthing.

triangle- male force or determination
circle - life and body connected
line - divided or the movement from physical life on earth to the afterlife(spirit world)...which basicly means death.

ahh thats scary. the symbol of death on book! i think it has somthing to do with the veil. but thats my opinion.

i also found the meaning to a circle with a vertical line dividing it:

QUOTE
30:3 · The circle divided by a vertical line is an ancient sign of the alphabets used in antiquity in the Near East. The alchemists used it to signify nitrogen, or saltpeter. Among the Hittites and were closely associated with the idea of lightning.

hmm. with the idea of lightening? this could probably have somthing to do with harry's scar.

i think all of this mythology should be looked into because, we all know JK loves it. she's put it in the books before!

express your opinions=)
Dumbledore'sArmyMan
woah....how lond did it take you to look all that up?I reckon its awesome,it would explain a lot.quote]well firstly the most noticable part (well i think so) is that ron and hermione are wearing dress robes. are they coming straight from the wedding?[/quote]
I thought that too.I've been thinking for a while now that something will happen at the wedding.A lot of witches & wizards cant just all congregate in the same place without the DE knowing.Maybe they've come straight from the wedding.Maybe there was a disturbance in the DoM,and Authur,Tonks and Kingsley had to sort it out.The DE were waiting there,.........no,thats just an idea lol.
but you have a good idea here.

sarahdaniell0ox
thanks=) i just took som symbolic things and looked them up, i've been doing it for a while....but ron hemione and harry could be coming from the wedding. or maybe going to ( they might have met up with somthing in the way and had to skip the wedding) ... soo yeahh
LittleRed7771
I doubt anything will happen at the wedding. Mainly because of what it says on the book cover:

He (Harry) must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him...

This tells me that all is well at The Burrow because she wouldn't use "safety" if something had happened there. As for why they are wearing dress robes (if that is what they truly are), it might not have any significance but just part of the picture portrayed by the artist. But you never know, there might be a reason for it.

How funny that griffins can cure a snakes poison bite, I commend you for looking the information up. You have spent more time than I would have allowed most likely. It is neat though. Hoping against hope that what you have found in the way of symbolism and mythology that Harry will not have to die. To some degree what you have researched and found out suggests that it could happen.
sarahdaniell0ox
i did spend alot of time on this because i really like the fact that jk rowling has taken a little from mythology. and its scary, because shes actually making mythology sound interesting! ohmy.gif
sharkbaithoohaha
that is some really awesome information, and totally makes sense. jk rowling's use of mythology and symbolism is so prominent in the hp books, i really think that could work. but i am seriously hoping that nothing happens at the wedding...the last book has to have SOME happiness in it, since it's pretty much all about defeating voldemort and saving the wizarding world. and i think the wedding would be really nice without any conflict or deaths!? hopefully. especially since harry needs at least one more good day before he starts his journey to find the horcruxes and kill voldemort once and for all.

sarahdaniell0ox,
you also mention that they produce something that is emerald green. Harry's eyes are emerald green - and we are told that we will be finding more info about his eyes in this book. Could this have something to do with this?!
Ajax557
Wow, this is some really interesting stuff. I haven't seen the UK cover, but I am going to go look it up now. Could the emerald green stuff also point to the potion that was in the cave? Doubtfull, but it could be a possibilty...

Actually almost everything in the books has some tie to ancient mythology/paganism/alchemy/wicca as weel as alot of literary masterpieces I'm sure if you pick anything in the bokks someone/somethings name you can find alot of history on it Jo didn't just write these books she did alot of research to make sure they were as acurate as they could possibly be with other forms of literary art

wow sarahdaniell0ox good work!!!!!

i think you could be on to somthing and i commend you for taking the time to do all this! i also think that it is really great how much JKr has put into the books it shows she really cares and how amazing of a writer she is that she leaves these cluse for us to find!!!

i also agree with LittleRed7771 (hopefully) nothing will happen at the burrow!!! good thinking though Dumbledore'sArmyMan! like sarahdaniell0ox said they could be coming from the wedding! or maybe they are just plane wearing them to represent the wedding (not everything needs to be read into so much it could just be simlpy somthing we (the readers) all ready know)!!!!!!!!
deatheater13
Wow. That's pretty cool. What if Harry will use a griffin to help defeat LV? I mean, LV has Nagini, so maybe Harry would use a griffin to get rid of her, or in case she bites Harry. I know it's pretty far out there, but it's an idea.
crookshanks04
ya deatheater13 i agree it would be cool for harry to have such a cool pet (maybe a comming of age present from hagrid???)

dont get me wrong i love hedwig and all! also i think that there is a thread around here about harry getting a new pet...or maybe i just read it somwhere...hmphh not sure oh well, it would probaly be worth checking out though!!
sarahdaniell0ox
love the theory guys .. you're really helping me
