Chapter 1: Secrets among SnakesA boy of 17, with untidy jet black hair, was sitting in a train compartment with his three best friends, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Petegrew. Sirius was 17 with lanky black hair. Remus was 17 with light brown hair, and Peter was also 17 with blonde hair. The four were talking about their summer.
"So, Padfoot, what did you do this summer?" asked Remus (also known as Moony).
"Ah, mine was okay... James and I both passed our apparation test." replied Sirius, (who was padfoot) with an air of triumph. Apparation is disappearing from one place and appearing in another at almost the exact same time. "So, Prongs, Lily going to be yours this year?" Sirius finished.
Lily Evans was in there year. She had very pretty mid-back length red hair and emerald green eyes. "Yeah, but I don't think I can take anymore rejection! I mean, a guy can only take so much!" James answered.
"Well just try not to be an 'arrogant toe-rag' and she might be yours." Remus said.
"But I don't know how to do that, every time I try and talk to her, she just shoots me down." James said moodily.
"Hey James, aren't you supposed to be in the prefects compartment?" asked Sirius looking up at James.
"Ah man, that's right! See you later!" and with that, James jumped up and sprinted to the prefects compartment.
* * * *
"So Lils, what are you going to do if Potter ask you out again?" asked one of Lily's best friends Kat, which is short of Katara. Kat has light brown hair and grayish-green eyes.
"Hhhhmmm, let me think..." Lily started sarcastically. "No."
"Oh, come on Lily, give him a chance, he has asked you out for six years, and he really does like you." said another one of Lily's friends Sarah. Sarah has pretty shoulder length blonde hair and crystal clear, sea blue eyes.
"So, what about you and Remus? Everyone knows that you like him and he likes you. So why don't you two just go out already?" asked Briana to Sarah, the last one in the compartment and Lily's last friend. Briana has nice dirty blonde hair that falls in curls down to her waist and she has deep sea green eyes.
Sarah turned a brilliant shade of red before hastily changing the subject. "Lils your Head Girl, what are you doing in here?" she asked with mock question.
"Oh my gosh! I completely forgot! I'll see you guys later!" and Lily sprinted from the train compartment, hair flying. As she ran out she felt something heavy collide with her, and she fell to the floor.
"Evans! I'm so sorry I didn't see you! Are you okay?" asked James, trying to disentangle himself from her.
"Potter!" Lily said, thoroughly annoyed.
"I'm so sorry!" James apologized, holding out a hand to help her up.
"What are you doing here anyways?" Lily asked. "Where are the rest of your friends?"
"Well I was going to the prefect’s compartment-" James started, but Lily cut across him.
"What are you going to the prefect’s compartment for?" asked Lily incredulously.
"Well I'm Head Boy-" James started again.
"YOUR Head Boy?!" yelled Lily, causing people in other compartments to poke their heads out and see what all the commotion was.
"Yeah, so-" but James saw the Head Girl badge on Lily's chest and said, "So, your Head Girl? Looks like were going to be spending a lot of time together."
"Ah, whatever, come on were late." Lily said heading down the corridor to the prefect’s compartment, James following behind her.
* * * *
Later, James was sitting with the rest of the Marauders, a name they came up with for themselves, in the Great Hall. The Great Hall was magnificent, as always, the ceiling was just like the sky outside. The stars were shining brightly, and winking and twinkling down at all of them.
Sirius was just asking James, "So what happened when you left?". James had filled all his friends in on him running headlong into Lily, and about her being Head Girl, which surprised nobody considering that she is the brightest witch of their age.
"We just talked to the rest of the prefects about duties and when to patrol the corridors." said James in a non concerned voice, looking up at the Heads table where the first years were being sorted.
"No nt about that, you and Evans?" asked Sirius, looking exasperated like everyone should know what he was talking about all the time.
"Nothing happened." James answered still not looking at any of them.
"I wish they would hurry up, I'm starving!" exclaimed Padfoot, Sirius, after giving up getting any information out of James.
"Padfoot, is that all you think about, is food?" asked Moony, Remus.
"No!" said Sirius defending. Everyone laughed, then the headmaster, Dumbledore, stood up and started to speak.
"Welcome to our new students and welcome back to our older students. I have some notices to say but that can wait until after our magnificent feast." "Here, here" Sirius making people around them laugh. "Yes Mr. Black," continued Dumbledore, "all I have to say is 'tuck in'." All at once the four long house tables filled with magnificent food.
"So what do you think this year will be like?" asked the not so smart Peter, last of the Marauders.
"I don't know, I think it will be hard. It is our NEWT year." (NEWT stands for 'Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test'. The hardest test a witch or wizard will ever take.) Answered Remus looking thoughtfully at the question.
"Fell I fine tat freduculus!" exclaimed Sirius through a mouth full of food.
"You know that's gross right?" asked Remus, with a look of disgust on his face.
"You really think their going to be hard?" asked Peter, ignoring Sirius and Remus' argument.
"Duh Peter, honestly, sometimes you can reach new levels of stupidity that amaze me." James said looking at Peter. Peter turned deep red and Sirius snorted into his plate.
Just then the food disappeared to be replaced with dessert. Sirius, who had about thirds of everything, still managed to have dessert. Then the food disappeared altogether and Professor Dumbledore stood up.
"Well now that we are all feed and watered, I ask for your attention just a little longer. As you may know, a Dark wizard that calls himself Lord Voldemort, has take it upon himself to rid the world of muggles, muggle-borns and blood traitors. I just wanted you all to know that the school has been put under the utmost best protection anyone could ever wish for.
On a different note, first years and some of our older students" he looked directly at the Marauders half way down the Gryffindor table, "should note that the Dark Forrest on the grounds is strictly forbidden. And that our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has a list of forbidden items, which comprises of 396 items I believe, to see the full list, it is hanging on the door to Mr. Filch's office. Now I do believe that you have warm beds waiting for you, so Good Night." As Dumbledore finished everyone in the Great Hall stood up to leave.
"Well I had better go to Professor Dumbledore's office for instructions, see you guys later." said James, as he stood up to he saw Lily stand up too, and walked over to her.
"What Potter?" asked Lily as they made their way out of the Great Hall.
"We just have to go to Professor Dumbledore's office." answered James as politely as he could.
"Oh, right, well let's go." and the two of them made their way threw the throng of people in the corridor. When they reached the stone gargoyle they said the password, 'licorice wand', and the gargoyle leaped aside to let them pass up the revolving staircase. When they reached the door they stopped short and listened to the argument on the other side of the door.
"- How do you know for sure it isn't a trap?" said a gruff voice.
"I do not know if it is a trap, but I am pretty sure it isn't." said the calm voice of Professor Dumbledore. Lily and James just looked at each other sort of in a shocked way, as the gruff voice of the second person spoke up again.
"Yes but Dumbledore, they could be doing anything, they could be bewitching people in Hogwarts. Who knows what could be happening in the dungeons of this school!" at this James and Lily's eyebrows had almost disappeared in their hair, and their shock could not be more evident. Something bad was happening in Hogwarts? What could possibly be so bad to have adults worry? They were both knocked out of their thoughts when they heard Dumbledore's voice speaking again.
"Okay well I'll tell the prefects and heads to keep their eyes open for anything, along with the rest of the school." James held up a fist to knock on the door when is was jerked open violently and what stood in front of them was more shocking than anything that they had heard that night. The man had a tangle of grizzly brown hair and had blue eyes that surveyed them as if they might try to kill him, and he had a huge chunk of his nose missing.
"Dumbledore, I see that these two people would like to speak to you." said the gruff voice that James recognized as the best Auror (dark wizard catcher) anyone has seen in a long time, Alastor Moody. James wondered what on earth was happening at Hogwarts that Alastor had to come down.
"Ah, yes, Mr. Potter, Ms. Evans, please come in. Alastor, I shall speak to you later." said the calm voice of Dumbledore, who was sitting behind his desk, with the tips of his long fingers put together in thoughtfulness. James and Lily walked into the room, around Moody and in front of the headmaster’s desk.
"Why did you want to see us, Professor Dumbledore?" asked Lily, as though James and she hadn't heard anything strange. James was really impressed at how cool and calm she could be. This just made James love her all the more.
"Yes, I wanted to see you two to tell you that the prefects and you have to do all rounds in the corridors in partners. Since, as you both probably know, this man called Voldemort has been gaining power and killing anyone and everyone. So, just as a precaution, everyone is to do duties with another prefect, and you two will do rounds together." At this Lily looked horribly mad at spending more time then necessary with James. But James was glad at this. "Well then off to bed you two, Good Night." finished Dumbledore.
"Good Night, Professor." answered James and Lily in unison. They both left the office with their minds racing with unanswered questions. What has got into the best Auror, Moody, worried? What is happening in the dungeons? And why is Dumbledore so calm about it? These questions and many more raced through there heads as they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady. When they said the password, 'flubberworm', they entered the room and a whole bunch of people suddenly came up to them. Among them was, Remus, Sirius, Kat, Briana, Peter and Sarah. They went off in their separate groups to talk; Sirius, Remus, Peter and James; Lily, Kat, Briana and Sarah. James told the rest of the Marauders what Lily and he heard up at Dumbledore's office.
"It has to be the Slytherins, they are the only one's that know the dungeons best, besides us, but we aren't doing anything. If they are trying to do something secretive, then they are in a dungeon that only they know." said Remus as the Marauders sat in the boy's dormitory, Frank (the other boy in their dorm) left with is girlfriend, Alice.
"Yeah, that's what I was thinking Moony, but why isn't Dumbledore doing anything about it?" asked James, as he sat on his bed the others all sat on the other ends of his bed.
"Maybe he isn't too concerned what a few Slytherins can do?" put in Wormtail (or Peter) from the end of the bed.
"But then why would Moody be worried? He is the Best Auror we have! If it was nothing than why did he come all this way?" asked Padfoot skeptically. They all thought about this until James said.
"I thought of that, and I still don't know... maybe we could get the Slytherins to tell us what their doing?" he added as an afterthought, more to himself than everyone.

Chapter 2: Midnight AdventuresThe Marauders were still going over possibilities of how to make the Slytherins tell what they are doing, days after James mentioned it. They were sitting in Transfiguration class, James and Sirius' best class, considering that they were animagus'. (The ability to change into any animal at will.) They were just waving their wands about, not really thinking about what they were doing, but still getting it right. While Remus and Peter had to give almost all of their concentration on what they were doing, human transfigurations.
"Moony, when's the next full moon?" asked Sirius, as he changed his eye color from purple to orange to blue then back to grey.
"Next Tuesday, why?" asked Remus not fully paying attention to the question, he just memorized the full moon and when it happens, given his 'furry little problem', as James puts it.
"Because I'm bored!" complained Sirius, tapping his wand to his head now and changing his hair color also. James elbowed him hard in the ribs.
"Padfoot, shut up about the full moon!" James exclaimed also unconsciously changing color to almost everything on his body.
"Don't worry Prongs, I'm sure a Lily will be yours someday." replied Remus not even hearing what Sirius or James had just said. James and Sirius just looked at each other and almost laughed at how clueless Remus can be, but caught Professor McGonagall's eye and refrained.
"I couldn't get the hang of it! It was too hard!" exclaimed Peter as him and the Marauders headed down to lunch after Transfiguration.
"Wormtail, what isn't too hard for you?" asked Sirius as James roared with laughter. Peter turned a deep shade of red as they entered the Great Hall.
"Come on, Peter did manage to become an animagus!" replied Remus as he watched Sirius once again load his plate, mile high, with all the food in reach.
"Yeah, with our help!" retorted James as he loaded his own plate with all the food in reach.
"Well who wouldn't need help?!" Remus half shouted at James.
"We didn't, and were the biggest!" James shouted back.
"Okay, so he still managed!" and with that Remus went to the library to finish his Transfiguration homework.
The three just ate in silence until Sirius broke it.
"Come on, let’s go to potions." he stood up and James and Peter followed, down the stairs to the dungeons.
A few days after, the Marauders were sitting in front of the fire in the Gryffindor Common Room, doing homework.
"Okay, now I'm really bored." complained Sirius after he put his homework down for the fifth time.
I know, so am I." agreed James looking over at Sirius.
"Well maybe, you should try and concentrate more. I daresay you both need it." said Remus sounding so much like McGonagall, that James, Sirius, and even Peter, had to do a double take. James and Sirius burst out laughing.
"Mate, I'm trying, but how on earth can you! This stuff is terrible!" James said through hiccups of laughter.
"I -" began Remus but Sirius cut him off.
"I'm starving, and besides it's Sunday, how can you do homework today?" asked Sirius standing up and putting his things away. James followed suit, and so, to their surprise, did Remus and Peter.
"Well the Padfoot, where did you have in mind?" Remus asked just as they were getting to the one-eyed witch statue.
"Well I'm hungry, and I dunno about you, but I love Honeydukes." answered Sirius, as they stopped outside the one-eyed witch statue, with a mischievous grin on his face.
"I'm up for it but Prongs, do you have -"
I'm way ahead of you Moony." James answered the unasked question while he pulled his invisibility cloak out of his pocket.
"Excellent, Wormtail, Wormtail?" Sirius looked all around him but couldn't find him. “Where did he go?"
"Umm... Oh there he is Padfoot." Remus said looking up the stairs where Peter was walking down them.
"Hey where were you?" asked Remus.
"Er...well...you see... I was... er... I was... at... Gryffindor Common Room." Peter stammered. Sirius shrugged at the very poor answer.
"Potter! What are you doing?" came a sharp voice from up the stairs, which James recognized immediately.
"Hello Evans, we were just walking around, it's not a problem is it? Because if it is, I would like to know about it since I'm Head Boy." James replied smoothly while putting the invisibility cloak inside his pocket and turning around to face her in one smooth motion.
"Fine, but really, where are you going?" Lily asked a bit more politely.
"I already told you, were taking a walk." James replied.
"But what did you just put in you pocket?" Lily looked questioningly at James.
James didn't know how to answer this one, invisibility cloaks are rare and he didn't exactly want the whole school to know he owned one. Suddenly he felt something touch his pocket and heard Sirius breathe right behind him, "Okay". James pulled out his once invisibility cloak which turned into a textbook.
"I just put my textbook in my pocket, nothing wrong with that." James replied.
"Okay..." Lily said still looking skeptical. "See you guys later." and she walked down the stairs and past them, down the corridor and disappeared.
"Thanks Padfoot." James said after they were sure she was out of earshot.
"No problem mate, I could tell you were in trouble." Sirius said. James pulled out his wand and turned the textbook back into his invisibility cloak and tapped the one-eyed witch with his wand and all four of them slid down to the bottom of it.
Once they got inside Honeydukes they all hid under the invisibility cloak, after buying some sweets, they headed to the three broomsticks for butterbeer. After Sirius declared that he was full, they all headed back to Honeydukes and into the one-eyed witch passageway. When they were back in the corridor of Hogwarts they dashed into an empty classroom and pulled the cloak off of themselves.
"Well, that was brilliant!" said Peter as they trooped up the stairs to the Common Room.
"Yeah it was, I just remembered that I have to patrol the corridor,” James said, then he faced them all and added in a fatherly voice, "now don't let me catch you lot out of bed." Then he turned and walked right back outside the portrait hole. When he stepped outside he met a site he was not prepared to see. Sitting on the floor, barely conscious and crying her eyes out, was Lily Evans. James ran to her side as she started to slide sideways as she lost consciousness.
"Oh man, Lily." James muttered as he picked Lily up off the floor and ran with her to the Hospital Wing.
"My word! What happened here?" asked Madam Pomphrey when James laid Lily down on a bed.
"Well I came out of the Gryffindor Tower and saw her crying, when I got to her, she passed out." James finished as he looked at Lily. All of a sudden Lily's eyes opened wide and she screamed a scream that no one could possibly imagine. It sounded like she was being tortured. James just stared wide-eyed as the shock of what was happening sunk in. Madam Pomphrey was trying everything to make her quiet, but nothing worked, not even the silencing charm. But just as shocking as it started it ended, but the volume of her screaming was still ringing loud and clear in James' ears. He watched as her whole body slumped into the bed, as if it had taken everything in her to scream that blood-curling sound.
"Maybe you should go, there is nothing more you can do for her." Madam Pomphrey said weakly, still in shock of what happened, and that nothing she tried worked.
When James reached the Common Room Remus, Sirius, and Peter looked up in surprise to see him back so soon.
"Mate, what happened? Your as white as a ghost." Remus asked looking shocked at seeing James so scared.
"I...I - I dunno." James said not answering the question, but almost talking to himself.
"Prongs, what's up?" Sirius asked cautiously.
"I-I dunno, no, can't be..." James trailed off looking at all of them with blank eyes.
"Prongs, I heard a scream, who was it?" asked Peter.
"Lily." James answered.
"WHAT!!" shouted Remus, Sirius, and Peter in unison startling the Gryffindor Tower. "What was she screaming about?" asked Sirius more quietly.
"I dunno, I saw her, she passed out, took her to Hospital, she screamed." James said not making full sentences.
"Wow." Sirius looked at James for a moment before James turned and walked up the boy’s staircase and as soon as he flipped onto his bed, he was asleep.
The next day passed in a blur of color and before James knew it he was in the Hospital Wing, Lily's friends, Kat, Sarah and Briana had barely left Lily's side. When James got there he asked what happened to make Lily that scared.
"She might have been poisoned, but I don't know who did it or when. Can you think of anyone?" Madam Pomphrey asked James.
"No, I can't." lied James as he sat at a chair next to Lily's bed. He just sat there for the longest time thinking...thinking. Finally he left and went to bed.
Tuesday passed in the same fashion as the day before only this time he didn't get a chance to see Lily since Remus needed him, tonight was the full moon. James saw Remus and Madam Pomphrey heading to the Womping Willow, under his invisibility cloak, Sirius and Peter were on either side of him. When Madam Pomphrey headed back to the Main Hall, they hid the cloak behind a bush.
"Okay Wormtail, your up." Sirius whispered to the rat where Peter used to be. As he spoke the rat took off, when it touched the knot in the tree, the tree froze. Since James and Sirius were such big animals, they had to be in the tunnel to transform. Once James the Stag, Sirius the Dog and Peter the Rat were up in the Shrieking Shack they started looking for Remus the Werewolf. They found him, he was only half transformed in a room with only a tattered, torn bed in one end of the room. A bed that Peter normally stayed on, out of the way.
"Th-an-ks..." Remus said weakly as the werewolf side took over. They all waited as they watched their friend finish the agonizing transformation into a werewolf. They all just waited to see what the werewolf would do. No one (or animal in this case) dared to move. James leg started to get numb, but he still didn't move. Soon it became unbearable and his leg gave away. He came crashing to the floor, and on queue, the werewolf started to attack James. James stood up ready for an attack. Remus started to bite and scratch every part of James he could reach. James reared on his back hooves which made Remus back up a little. James came crashing back down to the floor, which made the whole place shake. Remus backed right up to the wall but soon tried to attack James, James bent his head and charged Remus with his antlers. Remus was lifted into the air and slammed into the wall. James felt really bad about doing that to his friend even if he was trying to attack him.
Remus stood up and this time Sirius was ready. Sirius leaped into the air as Remus charged again. Sirius met Remus half way and bowled Remus over. Sirius had Remus pinned to the ground. Remus, being a werewolf, was very powerful, so he had no trouble in throwing Sirius off of him. Sirius hit the wall across the room; he slid down six feet and lay motionless on the ground. James continued the battle, Remus came at him and he turned around and hit him hard in the chest with his back hooves. Remus almost flew out the boarded up window, James kicked him so hard. Remus howled at the moon, but didn't try to attack anymore. James had several long deep scratches along his face and back. Sirius was about the same. Peter was the only one unhurt, since he is the smallest, Remus or James or Sirius could accidentally kill him. When James thought it was safe, he turned back into a human and took out his wand. With a quick wave Sirius was awake, still in his dog form, looked at James then Remus then back. James understood and shook his head. "We don't attack Remus." James turned back into a stag and walked over to the werewolf. He gently tapped his head on Remus' shoulder, the werewolf turned around and seeing it was James backed away hurriedly. James nodded at the door then walked through it with Remus, Sirius and Peter, right behind him. Together the odd group of animals made their way into Hogsmeade. Over two hours later the full moon started to go down and the three of them had to watch Remus turn back into himself. James, Peter, and Sirius turned into themselves too.
"Thanks you guys, and I'm sorry for..." Remus trailed off nodding at all the scratches on them.
"Common...Room..." James managed to say before he passed out from all the deep cuts he suffered last night.
When James woke up he heard someone moaning. He woke up a little more and noticed that the moaning had words to it.
"Mmmm...It's all my fault..." the voice trailed off, he recognized the voice of Remus.
"No it's not, you can't help it, you know that." came Sirius' voice. "All we can do is wait until he wakes up." Sirius finished.
"You don't have to wait long." James mumbled thickly, he tried to get up but gasped and turned very pale and feel back onto the bed.
"James, James!" yelled Remus, the terror clearly evident in his voice.
"Yeah..." James said weakly.
"Mate, are you okay?" came Sirius' worried voice.
"Oh, I'm brilliant, what happened? Why does everything hurt? And why can't I sit up?" asked James to the room at large, "And where am I?"
"Well, we are in the dormitory." answered Remus, "That's where you wanted to be..." Remus finished, not answering his questions.
"What about my other questions?" asked James.
"Ah, well, you see, the thing is..." Remus started but Sirius cut in.
"Oh, don't worry, Remus' just really worried and feeling guilty for what happened." Sirius assured James. "He just bit you, without knowing it," he added sternly at Remus, "in two places that you didn't notice, and neither did we, until you screamed out when we touched them." Sirius finished looking at James grimily. No one knew what was to happen to James now.
"Prongs, I'm so sorry-" Remus started.
"Moony, I know that your sorry, but its not your fault, you know that." James said then he turned to Sirius, "Where was I bit?"
"Well on your right thigh and your left lower back." Sirius answered.
"Maybe you should see Madam Pomphrey; she'll know what to do." Peter put in, speaking for the first time since James woke up.
"Wormtail, you know I can't do that, she will recognize a werewolf bite a mile away, then she'll know I met Moony or something, then he'll be in trouble, I'll just fix it myself." and he took out his wand and gave it a quick wave at his back and leg in turn. He felt both places get really hot then really cold then it stopped bleeding but it didn't heal completely. James sat up and winced as it hurt a little but not a lot. He stood up and walked around the dormitory.
"Well, no lasting damage." reported James as he made it back to his bed. "What time is it anyways?"
"Well about 7 in the morning." Remus said, looking at his watch. "You have been asleep for 4 hours."
"Oh great! Come on, were going to be late for class." James said which was rare in itself. He grabbed his bag but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"I don't think you should go to class." Remus said turning James so he looked at him.
"What! Why not? I'm not badly hurt or nothing!" James said at Remus.
"Yeah I know, but you should put on some clean robes, your has... blood... on them." Remus said looking guilty again.
"Okay," James grabbed a pair a pair of clean robes and threw the blood stained robes on the floor. "Now are you happy?" James asked as he reached the door.
"No, I'm not." Remus muttered so that no one heard him. They went down to the Great Hall where they met Sarah, Briana and Kat.
"-and then-, oh hi, guys." Sarah said when she realized they were there.
"Hi ladies." the Marauders replied.
"Would you like to sit with us?" asked Sirius to Briana (his long time crush).
"Sure, you guys coming?" asked Briana.
"Yeah," the two girls said and the seven of them took seats across from each other. Sirius immediately started to dig in.
"James, Sirius, what happened to you?!" Kat said looking from one to the other, they both just looked at each other. They still had deep cuts on their faces.
"Ah, well," Sirius said not sure how to answer.
"We, were, wrestling." James said inventing wildly.
"What were you, wrestling with knives?!" Kat said looking very frightened. Remus looked extremely nervous.
"Well the wrestling got ugly and we started dueling, well we know spells... and here we are." Sirius said not very convincingly but obviously convincingly enough because everyone started eating again.

*** Okay I'm still new at this.... but here is Chapter 3***
Chapter 3: A New Place"Well, Moony, were sorry, we for-" James started to say for the billionth time.
"Why are you sorry? I'm the one that should be sorry, I gave you the cuts." Remus said.
"Yeah, but you can't help it, we could have." Sirius said joining in the conversation as they walked down the Charms corridor, going to lunch.
"We should have done something." James said looking thoughtful as Peter caught up to them.
"You know perfectly well that werewolf bites don't heal with any spell, thanks to Padfoot, they all think that you guys have your heads full of the Dark Arts, and think the you know spells that don't heal." Remus said as they rounded a corridor, "I am pretty certain that spells like that aren't allowed at Hogwarts." Remus finished as they entered the Great Hall. Everybody looked at the Marauders, more exact, James and Sirius.
"Why are they looking at us?" Sirius asked taking a seat.
"Because of what you said this morning, and because, quiet obviously, those cuts haven't healed in at all." Remus paused looking at both of them, "I'm really sorry, this is all my fault, I'm really, really sorry." Remus continued different variations of saying sorry all through lunch no matter how many times they told him that it is okay, and not his fault.
"I'll see you guys later." James said sliding out of the Great Hall and up to the Hospital Wing to see Lily.
“-I'm not certain what the cause is, what do you think?” asked Madam Pomphrey from inside the curtain that was around Lily’s bed. James was about to head back out when-
“Potter!” James froze, he knew that voice, he knew since he had first heard it. Lily.
“What?!” asked a quiet shocked Madam Pomphrey.
“Potter……I…” said Lily as her voice faded as she passed out again. James turned to continue down the ward when someone grasped his shoulder. He immediately turned pulling his wand out as he did.
“Sorry, Professor, I didn’t know it would be you.” James said in a breathless sort of way, looking at Professor Dumbledore.
“Potter what – oh my, dear boy, what happened to you?!” asked Madam Pomphrey looking at James’ face with all the cuts, coming up behind Professor Dumbledore.
Busted! James thought, he remembered the conversation from this morning.
“My friend and I got into a, er, friendly fight, and it turned ugly,” James said, “but don’t worry, I’m fine, it’s nothing, I’ll just be going now.” And not so much as a backward glance at them, he walked very fast from the Hospital Wing to Gryffindor Common Room, where he and the Marauders had a free period. He collapsed into a chair next to Remus who was doing homework. Remus looked up as he entered the Common Room.
“What happened?” asked Remus, who had a knack for telling when someone was upset or really shaken up by something.
“I went to see Lily, and Dumbledore and Madam Pomphrey were there. Madam Pomphrey looked at my face and asked what happened, I told her I got in a fight and ran out of there.” James finished. He looked around and noticed something was wrong. “Where’s Padfoot and Wormtail?”
“Well Wormtail is over there with Kat, ‘studying’. More like just studying her if you ask me. Padfoot is around, now that you mention it, I haven’t seen him since lunch.” Remus said. “Sorry you got in a tough spot in the Hospital, my…problem…always ends up hurting or getting you guys in more trouble then you need.” Remus finished looking at James with eyes full of misery at what happened. James was used to Remus constantly saying sorry after every full moon, it shows that he really appreciates them being there for him, and that is why he feels bad.
“Moony! Prongs!” yelled Sirius at the top of his voice as he charged into the Common Room, with grey dust all over him.
“What? What is it?” asked James, as Remus and he followed Sirius out of the portrait hole.
“I’ve found something, not that it’ll really help, but still.” Sirius said as they reached a mirror. He pulled out his wand and tapped the mirror. The mirror melted away to a hidden passageway. As they walked down it, they knew why Sirius was covered in dust, because the passageway was covered in it, you almost couldn’t help but brush against the sides of the wall, because the passageway was so narrow. They kept walking.
“Padfoot,” started Remus as they walked for what seemed like hours. “Does this passageway ever end?”
“I don’t know.” Sirius replied almost stopping in wonderment. But no sooner had he said that and started walking again then the passageway started going downwards. So steeply it was almost straight up and down. James couldn’t keep pressing to the sides to the wall anymore and started to slide down it instead. Way faster then was expected, the passageway leveled off so James slammed into the ground, hard. Sirius and Remus were already to their feet and starting down the now level passageway. It ended only twenty feet after it leveled off. It ended so suddenly the Sirius smacked right into the wall, since there was so much dust in the air as well as the walls.
“Now what? There’s almost no chance of getting out of here.” Remus said as he hit the wall with his foot. James was scared because Remus never got truly mad, or mad enough to hit anything. As soon as his foot connected with the wall, it vanished. The wall just disappeared. Remus stepped through and looked around.
“Uh, oh.” Remus said as he came back in the passageway.
“What?” asked Sirius.
“Where in the Slytherin Common Room.” Remus answered.

Chapter 4: A New Addition“Oh great.” Sirius said. “Were never getting out of here. I’m sorry for bringing you guys down here.”
“Hey! We are getting out of here! We just hit a tough spot.” James said, which was normally what Remus would say, but he was at break down point so James took over. “We can just summon our brooms to get out of here, but I want to look around. Remus, who’s in the Common Room?” James asked with an evil glint in his eyes.
“Ahh, just some first years. Don’t you even think about hurting them!” Remus said in a wild whisper. He didn’t want the people in the Common Room to hear him even though it was a few steps down and the first years were at the other end of the room. Thankfully no one could actually see the steps, which looked like the came out of thin air. So if they were to go down them, it would look like they apparated right into the Common Room. Which, of course, is impossible to do. So if anyone looked at where they were, all they would see was the wall.
“We have to add this!” Sirius said. “It could come in handy sometime.”
“Okay, let’s get out then.” James said. He pulled his wand out and raised it in the air and said “Accio Cleansweep 11”. This incantation, though varying in the wording, was repeated by Sirius and Remus. They waited for a few minutes. Finally they heard a loud whistling sound and James’ broom came speeding through the air towards him. He stepped out of the way as Remus’ and Sirius’ brooms came too. James turned around towards the Common Room and what he saw astounded him. Snape and Bellatrix. They were talking and James couldn’t hear what they were saying. They were walking close to where they were hidden. James was scared they might find out about where they were but they suddenly stopped eight feet away. They were still whispering but now James could hear what they were saying.
“…you remember what our master said.” Snape was whispering fiercely as if Bellatrix was disagreeing with him.
“Of course I do! But how are we supposed to get to him? He’s always with his idiot friends.” Bellatrix whispered back.
“No, he didn’t say to go after him he just said to make him feel pain. And that’s what we did wasn’t it?” Snape whispered as if explaining things to a three-year-old. James nudged Sirius in the ribs, who poked Remus, and pointed to the two Slytherins’ conversation.
“Okay, but their on to us, I know it.” Bellatrix was whispering. “He will find out soon enough. We didn’t really do a good job of it, or, at least, I think we didn’t do a good job. But we must have! Or else we would have been punished.” Bellatrix was almost whispering to herself and ignoring Snape.
“Bella, we did fine. Don’t worry. All we did was get her there. Our master took care of the rest.” Snape said. James didn’t feel like listening anymore, and he had no clue who they were talking about.
“Okay, what shall we do?” Bellatrix said as they started to walk back within ear shot of the rest of the room.
“I don’t know we could…” Snape said but they got to far away for James, Sirius, and Remus to hear anything. James turned back to Sirius and Remus.
“What was that about?” asked James.
“I don’t know, but let’s get out of here.” Remus replied, getting on his broom. Sirius and James followed and they were all soaring up the tunnel to the solid ground outside the mirror. Once they passed through the mirror melted back up. James suspected that the mirror melted together again once they were inside so no one could follow them. James followed behind back up to Gryffindor Tower. Once they were in there they had to drag Peter away from Kat and up to their dormitory. James pulled out a big piece of parchment from his trunk and spread it all the way open on his bed. The Marauders all gathered around. James tapped the parchment with his wand and said. “I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good.” Instantly ink started to spread from the wand tip to the very corners of the paper. As the ink spread, it made narrow passageways all over the place. It was the map of Hogwarts the Marauders had started in their second year. On the map showed passageways that no one knew about, tunnels that lead out of the school and secret staircases to get you to your classes faster or to just hang out and not get caught. Sirius took out a quill and sketched what the tunnel looked like. After he was done, Remus pulled out his wand and waved it back and forth over the paper to make the passageway appear like the straight lines all over the place. But not only to make the lines straight, Remus was making it so that if anyone was to travel down that path, rather they have an invisibility cloak, if they were and animagus, or were under the impression of someone else using the Polyjuice Potion, anyone could see who you really were.
“Okay well, I would expect that we have found every single passageway in this school.” Sirius said.
“Well, I am going to go and study. You do realize that NEWTs are almost here!” Remus said then turned around and headed back out of the dormitory.
“Okay I’m going to go and see if I can see Lily again. See you guys later.” James said and walked out of the dormitory and into the Common Room where he found Remus, true to his word, studying. “Bye Moony, see you later.” James said as he passed by Remus.
“Bye Prongs.” Remus called after him, still absorbed in his book.
James walked out of the portrait hole and to the hospital wing. He walked in and, thankfully, no one was there but Lily, still unconscious.
“Lily, please, wake up.” James pleaded not expecting anything to work.
“Ja–mes?” Lily mumbled weakly from the bed.
James was startled for two reasons, one: Lily was awake and two: she had used his first name.
“Lily? Are you okay? What happened?” James couldn’t stop all the questions from tumbling out of his mouth.
“Well, I should say thanks, you found me.” Lily was getting stronger the longer she was awake. “I don’t really remembered what happened, all I remember is snakelike red eyes, and a crazy high-pitched voice.” James thought about that for a while but didn’t draw up any conclusions.
“So, how are you feeling?” asked James, with true concern in his eyes. Lily was taken aback by his concern.
“I’m okay, but what happened? When and after you found me?” Lily said fully awake and sitting up.
So James talked about how he found her and what she was doing, then to the scream in the hospital. “Which scared the life out of me, mind you.” James added at that point. He talked about when he visited the hospital and she called his name. “When I came in here I over heard some of Madam Pomphrey and Dumbledore’s conversation. They think that it could be poison.” James said, sitting at the end of Lily’s bed.
“I don’t think so, but maybe.” Lily answered looking thoughtfully into space.
“Lily?” James started.
“Yes.”
“Why were you crying?” James finally put his thoughts to words. The hardest words of all on Lily.
“Um, well, I’m sorry James, but I can’t tell you that.” Lily said after contemplating the question.
“Okay,” James looked at his watch and swore, he forgot about Remus. “Lily, I have to go, see you later.” James turned and ran out of the hospital wing and to the front doors.
“Where were you?!” hissed a voice from his right.
“Sorry Padfoot, I forgot.” James whispered back, at seemingly thin air. He felt his invisibility cloak glide over him and Sirius and Peter materialized beside him.
“Okay, Worm–” Sirius started.
“Padfoot, I think I know what to do by now.” Peter said with a touch of annoyance in his voice. Then he transformed into a rat and skirted around until it touched the knot in the tree with a paw, which froze the tree immediately.
Just the same as the night before, James and Sirius stowed the invisibility cloak behind a brush and walked through the hole in the Whomping Willow. Once they were all inside and James and Sirius had transformed, they walked through the Shrieking Shack until they found Remus in one of the rooms.
“Hey guys.” Remus said to the animals. He looked as tired as ever but he asked them to met him here, even though tonight wasn’t a full moon.
“Hey Moony, what did you want to meet us for?” James asked when Sirius, Peter and himself had all changed back into humans.
“Well, I know I’m not the one that normally does this, but, you guys have to do something.” Remus said taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
“Do what?” Sirius asked as James, Peter and Sirius all took a seat on the floor around the bed.
“Lily.” Remus said for an answer.
“What about her?” asked James suspiciously.
“Let’s see,” Remus started sarcastically, “she is in the hospital wing because someone poisoned her.”
“We don’t know that for sure.” Peter chimed in.
“Okay, but that’s all we got, James, Lily is a good person, you are in love with her. Don’t you want to do something” Remus said in an almost pleading voice.
“Of course I do, but on whom...” James said trailing off thinking about one person in particular. Snape. He was in their year and had oily hair and an even oilier voice, his hair was black along with his eyes. The Marauders hated Snape and Snape hated them. They took every opportunity to hex each other.
“You know it could not be Snape, ever think of that?” Remus said shaking James from his thoughts.
“Yeah, I did.” said James defensively. “Who did you have in mind Moony?”
“I was thinking all the Slytherin’s.” said Remus in a voice that was almost evil, something you definitely wouldn’t hear.
Everyone just sat in silence. The moon was fully up now so it was well after midnight.
“What could we do to all the Slytherin’s?” asked Sirius suddenly, just as James looked at his watch. It read 2:23a.m.
“I dunno.” James answered leaning over sideways and fell asleep.
“Prongs! James! Prongs! Answer to something!” a voice shouted from what seemed far away.
“Goway.” mumbled James.
“No, get up or else.” James could hear that the voice was Remus and he meant business. Suddenly, James was looking at Remus upside down. Remus undid the curse and James landed in a heap on his bed.
“Glad your up.” Remus said sarcastically. James fell out of bed because his feet were tangled in the sheets and his robes.
James got up off the floor and scowled at Remus, who when over to Sirius and was attempting to wake him.
“Moony, how did we get here?” James asked when Sirius and Peter picked themselves up off the floor too after being hanged upside down by their ankles.
“I levitated you guys up to our dorm. Now come on! Were going to be late!” Remus said.
***Okay Lily might or might not have been poisoned. She saw someone who James doesn't know. But why was she crying? Just so you are caught up, Lily was sort of awake, James isn't really powerful or anything. And also Snape and Bellatrix didn't want the Common Room to hear them so the only place that didn't have any people were where the Marauders were, don't think I did that on purpose even though in a way I did, I didn't even realize it until after I wrote it. Chapter 5: Revenge
Lily woke up and saw 7 people standing around her bed. She couldn’t see who they were because her vison was blurry. She rubbed them and looked at the people again, the Marauders, Kat, Sarah and Briana were there.
“Hey there sleeping beauty.” Kat said. She was sitting at the end of her bed.
“What - what are you all doing here? What time is it? What day is it?” Lily couldn’t help but ask all these questions.
“Whoa! Don’t miss a beat do you? Well we are all here to see you, of course. It is 11:32a.m. on Saturday morning.” answered James who was standing behind Remus and Sirius on her right side. It had been two days since the Marauders met in the Shrieking Shack.
“So what’s been going on? I’ve missed a lot of school work haven’t I?” Lily said as she sat up straighter.
“Yes, you have,” Briana started, “Which is funny, because you only missed five days. But this is supposed to be the hardest year.”
“Am I aloud to leave?” Lily asked Madam Pomphrey as she came up behind the group.
“Yes, you may leave, but get as much rest as you can.” Madam Pomphrey walked away knowing that Lily was fine.
Lily got up with the crowd and walked down the corridor with them. James was at the back of everyone. He took a side corridor and down to the library. He finally returned to the common room at almost one o’clock in the morning. He didn’t expect anyone to be there, so when he pushed the portrait open, he was surprised to by what he saw.
Lily. Sitting there, fast asleep. I should go wake her up. James thought as he walked up to Lily. No, but she could think that I’m checking her out when I’m not. Argued another voice. James decided to go with the second voice and headed to the boys dormitory. When he got there all the Marauders were up. James walked over and sat on his bed.
“Hey Prongs.” Sirius said in what James thought was an overly happy voice.
“What’s going on?” asked James suspiciously.
“We got it.” Remus said with a sly smile.
“Well tell me.” James said excitedly.
A coupe of days after Lily got better the Marauders were walking to the Great Hall for Lunch.
“So we all know the plan. Peter,” James whispered. Peter pulled out a vial of clear liquid. “Good. Sirius, Remus you know what to do?” they both nodded eagerly. “Okay, one... two... three... now!” James said just Snape, Bellatrix, Lestrange, Malfoy, Narcissa and Regulus were about to enter the Great Hall. Remus sent the vial of liquid, which was veritaserum, a truth potion, zooming through the air. Just as Sirius made the six Slytherins’ zoom towards them, the ducked into an empty classroom when James stunned all the Slytherins’. Peter caught the vial that was zooming around and put three drops into each of their mouths. Then James woke them all up. Remus, Sirius and Peter had their wands out.
“Can you hear me?” asked Remus.
“Yes.” all six of them murmured monotonous.
“What happened to Lily? What did you do to her?” asked James.
“We did do something on someone’s orders. We put poison in her food.” Malfoy said, he laughed but it was humorless and short.
“Who told you to?” asked Sirius.
“The Dark Lord” Bellatrix replied.
Who’s the ‘Dark Lord’?” asked Peter.
“V - vol - voldemort.” whispered Regulus fearfully. They all flinched violently at the name.
James’ eyes went wide as did Remus’, Peters’, and Sirius’. Voldemort was a name almost everyone knew, he was a dark and evil wizard.
“Did you speak to Lily after you poisoned her?” asked James.
“No, our master did though.” Malfoy replied.
“And what did ‘your master’ say to her?” Remus asked.
“He told her about what could happened, showed her, her future, what was to become of her, all the evil.” Snape replied this time. It took all James’ self control not to hit Snape.
“What else do you want to know?” whispered James to Remus.
“What sort of poison did you put in Lily’s food?” Remus said.
“Powerful kind.” answered Regulus, who was the stupidest of the group.
“Okay well, I’m done, Sirius?” Remus asked.
“I’m done, Peter?” Sirius said.
“Yep.” Peter answered.
“Okay then,” James stunned them again and waited an hour for the potion to wear off. Once they were done with the classroom they headed to lunch.
The next day the Marauders had a plan for revenge. James and Peter were going to attack Snape, Narcissa and Lestrange. Sirius and Remus were going to get Bellatrix, Malfoy and Regulus. James was walking down the hall with Peter after breakfast. They spotted their targets and split up on either side of the hall. James thought levicorpus the same time Peter did and two of them were hanging in the air by their ankles. James quickly did the same thing on the remaining person. James quickly transfigured their hair, Snapes’ fiery orange, Narcissas’ was fire (but James wasn’t mean enough to make it real fire), and Lestranges’ steaming pink, literally smoking at the roots. Their robes were already hanging down so that was taken care of. James set off a bomb-like explosion from where he was and grabbed Peter and ran the opposite direction. James heard a similar sound not to far away from where they were and quickly ran over to it.
Remus and Sirius had did a marvelous job. People were already standing around. Regulus, Malfoy and Bellatrix were hanging by their ears on the chandelier. Their skin color was sickly purple, green and orange. Their hair all was th exact opposite of their skin color, green and pink, purple and yellow, and orange and brown. They all sprouted something out of their bodies, tentacles, feelers, or bats. James was roaring with laughter along with everyone else. James and Peter met up with Remus and Sirius in transfiguration.
“That was brilliant!” Sirius said. “They’ll never get them down.”
“Why not?” Peter asked.
“Because we put a charm on them that makes them impossible to get down for a day.” James said laughing at the thought. They deserved it.

Chapter 6: A lost battle
The Marauders didn’t stop laughing until it was six o’clock that night, that was when the six Slytherins’ came down off the ceiling. What was really strange was that none of the Professors did anything about it. Everyone at Hogwarts knew about the Marauders and their legendary pranks, the Professors knew it had to be them that pulled off the stunt of hanging the Slytherins in the hall all day. But they didn’t do anything.
“Okay, well now that we have at least one prank done this year I can sleep in peace.” Sirius was saying as the Marauders ate dinner.
“Yeah, but you guys, we can’t top this prank.” Remus said with a serious face on. “I mean, we’ve never pranked six people at once before now.”
“You know Moony has a point...” James said. He shrugged it off and went back to eating just as Sirius had done.
Well, maybe Lily will like me if I don’t prank anyone anyways, James thought that night as he was trying to fall asleep. I’ll never know... James woke up the next morning and was sitting at the Gryffindor table when Lily, Kat, Briana and Sarah came up and sat down with them. All the Marauders liked one of them, so having them sit down and eat with them was amazing. James could stop looking at Lily, with her red hair streaming down her back and her emerald eyes shining with happiness at nothing in particular. James sighed inwardly just looking at her. He looked at his friends and saw that they were acting normally enough so he thought he should at least attempt to look as if he didn’t like Lily.
“... Hogsmead is this weekend, do you guys want to meet up with us?” Sarah was asking when James got his thought together.
“Yeah, we’d love that.” Remus answered, looking as James normally did. Sirius snapped his fingers in front of Remus’ face, Remus blinking and looked back at his plate, his face burning.
“Yeah, what time did you want to meet up?” Sirius asked the girls.
“Well we thought that we could meet up at around noon in the three broomsticks.” Lily replied. James thought that her voice was like music. Snap out of it James, James told himself, She doesn’t like you so get over it!
“That would work, right guys?” James said looking around for support. They all nodded and mumbled their agreement but didn’t look up from their food or stop eating. This is getting bad. James got up and headed off to his first class, Defense Against the Dark Arts. Professor Wattlebred was teaching them how to improve on casting spells silently. James had a little trouble with that, but that gave him an excuse to talk to the Marauders.
“You guys are obvious.” James whispered to them.
“Oh yeah? And your not?” Sirius replied, for him to like a girl without going out with her was truly impressive.
“I’m trying to stop, but Moony, do you like Sarah?” James asked. Remus turned slightly red.
“Yes.” he mumbled so softly James had to ask him again. “Yes! Alright I do!” Remus said a lot louder than was intended since people looked over at them.
“Okay, just asking. What are we going to do when we get into Hogsmead?” James asked worriedly. He didn’t think he could be around Lily for that long without him asking her out, again.
“Don’t worry Prongs, just don’t talk that much, and stay on subject and should be fine.” Remus said in a reassuring voice. James just shook his head and went back to practicing nonverbal spells.
* * * *
“Lily, what are we going to do?” Sarah asked as the four girls ganged up on a plant in Herbology that was putting up a very good fight.
“What do you mean?” Lily panted back.
“Well, we like them, except for you, and well...” Lily didn’t need her to finish to know what they were asking.
“Just be yourselves, everything will be fine.” Lily said finally standing up straight now that the plant had lost the fight. She was a little worried herself but she didn’t want to show it around her friends, she had to be strong for them. “Come on.” Lily said as the bell rang to signal their next class.
* * * *
It had been two days since the Marauders decided to met up with the girls in Hogsmead, finally, it was Friday. James almost could stand it being this close to the weekend. The Hogsmead trip was tomorrow. Lily was tomorrow. Friday came and went fashionably fast. The Marauders were just sitting down to eat dinner.
“So we are defiantly going to Zongo’s, but what else are we going to do?” Sirius asked through a mouth full of mashed potatoes.
“I’m not sure... we could just walk around.” Peter put in. Remus, James, and Sirius all looked at him. Peter hadn’t spoken in so long they almost forgot he was there. Slowly they went back to eating and the discussion was dropped.
James couldn’t sleep that night, he was so nervous about what was going to happen tomorrow, that nightmares threatened to overcome him. He just rolled over and looked out of the window. He could see the Forbidden Forest, the trees were swaying back and forth gently in the breeze. Suddenly there was a disturbance in the gentle swaying motion the trees had been doing, the trees parted wide, wide enough for five Hippogriffs’ to go through without being scratched. James got up and looked at it but couldn’t see what was making the trees part like that. Soon as it happened it was over and the trees regained their gentle swaying. James climbed into bed and put the abnormality of what just happened to the back of his head. He finally feel asleep.
He was being chased by a huge Basilisk in a chamber with slimy walls. He came to the end of the tunnel and turned around expecting to be killed by looking the beast in the eyes, but instead he found that it’s eyes had been gorged out, and where the eyes used to be was just blood. He heard hissing behind him, someone speaking in Parseltongue. Strangely, he understood what the voice was saying. “Come, come to me. You must kill the boy later.” He ran, ran back to the main chamber, which almost wasn’t saying anything since the tunnel was enormous to fit the giant snake. The main chamber had twelve statues of snakes ready to strike down, six on each side of the hall way they created. At the end of that there was a statue of a man, Salazar Slytherin. The statue was huge, at least fifty feet from head to foot. At the foot of the statue is what got his attention, there was a girl lying there, she looked almost dead. He ran to her side and knelt beside her and felt for a pulse, there was one very slightly. A man appeared out of thin air on the side of him. He looked up at the person holding a wand pointed at him as the man whispered, “Kill him.” in Parseltongue.
James woke at the sound of Sirius’ voice. He was sweating as if he just sprinted a mile. The sheets were all tangled around his feet. Remus and Peter were standing behind Sirius, all of them looked worried.
“What happened? Are you alright?” Sirius asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine, just a bad dream.” James answered wiping the sweat off his face and untangling the sheets. All of James’ worries came back all at once and he leaped out of bed. Today he was meeting up with Lily, Sarah, Briana and Kat in Hogsmead. He looked through his clothes and found something to wear with Sirius, Remus and Peter doing the same thing. The four of them headed down to get breakfast and were soon joined by the four girls.
“So, were still on fo today?” Sirius asked.
“Sure are, unless you have other plans.” Briana answered, she sounded a little sad when she said the last part.
“Nope, we don’t have any other plans, so we’ll see you guys in the three broomsticks at twelve?” Remus replied.
“Yeah.” Lily said.
The Marauders left to go to Hogsmead. They went into Zongo’s first as they had planed. But instead of going anywhere else they stayed there the whole time looking at everything. It was only when James looked at his watch and said that it was 11:54a.m. that they left. The four girls were already in the three broomsticks by the time they got there, they bought drinks and they all sat down.
“So, what did you ladies do before coming here?” Sirius asked.
“We just walked around, went from shop to shop.” Briana answered. James leaned over and whispered, “Here they go, I’d give them ten minutes before they are all over each other.” he said to Remus. Remus laughed but stopped when everyone looked at him. Everyone was talking about what they did, schoolwork, talking bad about teachers they didn’t like, and anything else. James took Remus’ advise and didn’t say very much but just looked at Lily, the way her eyes sparkle when she laughs or how her hair moves and catches the light just perfectly. James had nearly finished his drink and Sirius and Briana hadn’t been snogging, which he found weird.
“Well, I guess you were wrong.” Remus whispered to James just then.
“So, James, what have you been up to? Your pretty quiet over there?” Lily asked.
“Oh, nothing, just thinking.” James replied not looking up to met her gaze because he would probably say something stupid.
“Well, do you want to take a walk with me?” Lily asked in her sweetest voice. James was shocked by the question that he looked up from his butterbeer to stare at her disbelieving.
“Su - Sure” James stuttered. Everyone was looking between the two of them as though they couldn’t believe it either, even Lily’s friends seemed to have not been expecting that.
James and Lily both got up and headed outside. Everyone was peering at them through the windows. James couldn’t have felt any better. Here he was walking next to the girl of his dreams, and she had asked him! They walked down the road of Hogsmead in silence for a while. James was out of ideas on what to say.
“Where do you want to go?” James finally asked.
“I’m not sure, I was just thinking about walking around, unless you want to go somewhere.” Lily replied nervously. James found it odd that she was nervous, and that she asked him to walk with him when she hated him.
“No, we can just walk around. What do you want to do?” James said.
“Um, we can talk, get to know each other.” Lily replied.
“Okay, what do you want to know?” James asked.
“Well, why do you pick on Snape and everyone, but especially Snape?” Lily said.
“We have always just hated each other, he hexes me then I’ll hex him back.” James answered.
“Okay, that’s not really an answer. Why do you like me?” Lily said.
James was stunned. He hadn’t really expected that. “I dunno, I like everything about you, your personality, your beauty, your brains. Your perfect in every way.” James finally concluded.
Lily stopped walking, and James had to double back because he had been looking at his feet the whole time.
“What’s wrong?” James asked.
Lily just shook her head and started walking again. They continued talking about anything, everything. It was great. They actually started to become friends. They headed back to the three broomsticks and found only Remus and Sarah there.
“Where did Padfoot and Wormtail, Kat and Briana go?” James asked once Lily and himself took their seats again.
“Well they all followed your guy’s example and took ‘a walk’” Remus replied. “So, did anything happen?” Remus asked once Lily was talking to Sarah.
“No, we just talked.” James answered shortly.
“Well that’s okay too. Sarah and I only talked.” Remus said as a way to cheer James up.
“Okay, well I’m going to head back, catch up with you later Moony, later ladies.” James said ten minutes later.
“James!” Lily called as he made his way to the door. He turned around and saw Lily whispering to Sarah and Remus then run over to him. “Wait up.” Once Lily caught up to him they started walking back up to the school.
“So, did you just remember you had homework, or to study for something?” James asked as they walked in silence.
“No, I just thought you’d want some company.” Lily replied. James looked doubtful about that but kept walking anyways.
“No really,” James started again. “Why did you come back with me?”
“I didn’t want you to get lonely.” Lily said again, the cheerfulness in her voice still there. James realized that this was the longest that they had talked and not fight in, well, ever. They were in front of the portrait hole and said the password and walked into the common room, no one was there.
“Well, I’ll see you around Lily.” James said and headed for the boy’s staircase.
“Wait James,” Lily said, he turned around to face her.
“Yeah?”
“See you later.”
“Alright, bye.”
“Bye.”
James walked up the remaining stairs and flopped onto his bed. He just lay there listening to people outside and people all around him in the building. He loved it here. Best of all, he had talked to Lily Evans, girl of his dreams. It was amazing. James feel asleep to be reawaken by Sirius.
“What happened between you and Evans?” Sirius asked as soon as he was awake enough to put a sentence together.
“Nothing, we just talked.” James said tiredly.
“Oh sure, probably the same way Padfoot ‘talks’ isn’t it.” Peter asked. Ever since he got back from his ‘walk’ with Kat he seemed more confident.
“No it’s not, we just talked.” James said.
At the same time Sirius said, “Hey, why use me as the example?”
“Because, you’re the only one we have.” Remus said looking sorry.
“Dinner.” Sirius said. He stood up and walked out of the dorm room. James, Remus and Peter followed him down to dinner.

Chapter 7: Secrets revealed
James woke up on Sunday morning later than usual. It was almost ten o’clock. James sat up and looked around, Sirius was still asleep and so was Peter, but Remus was not there. James got up, got dresses, and went down to the common room. Remus wasn’t there either so James went to eat breakfast. When he entered the Great Hall he saw Remus eating alone. Which was odd since it was ten in the morning.
“Moony, what are you doing?” James asked in a cheerful voice.
“Nothing, just eating.” Remus replied. He looked really bad but James didn’t know what was wrong or how to fix it.
“Remus, are you alright?” James questioned in a concerned voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine James.” Remus answered looking up at James in a very unconvincing manner.
“Okay.” James said looking skeptical. He would just have to wait to see if Remus wanted to tell him or not. James started eating and was joined by Sirius not to long after.
“Morning.” Sirius said in a tired voice.
“Morning.” James answered brightly. Sirius just looked at him.
“Your cheerful.” Sirius said sitting down across from him and Remus.
“Okay. What do you want to do today?” James asked.
“I don’t know,” Remus started slowly. “We do have homework to do.”
“Ah, Moony, we can’t do homework!” Sirius said, he looked at James and rolled his eyes, James laughed.
“Fine, what do you plan to do?” Remus replied.
“I could think of many thinks to do.” said Sirius.
“Nothing illegal I mean.” answered Remus quickly.
“Okay, then there goes that plan. We could hang out under the tree.” replied Sirius.
“Morning.” yawned Peter as he sat down beside Sirius.
“Good Morning, I’m sure Wormtail will agree with me.” Remus stated.
“I’ll agree with what?” Peter yawned again.
“What we should do today, we should do homework since it is Sunday and all of it is due tomorrow.” said Remus.
“Okay.” replied Peter.
“Okay, well see you guys later then.” James said standing up with Sirius and heading out of the Great Hall. On the way out they ran into Briana, Kat and Lily. James and Lily’s eyes met and Lily looked down, blushing. That’s odd, James thought, she never used to do that. James followed Sirius out the Front doors onto the slopping lawn. They stopped under the tree and laid down. They laid there for almost an hour before someone came up to James, who was laying on his back with his eyes closed and could see the light disappear.
“Hey.” came a voice from about him, Lily.
“Hey, Lily.” James answered not opening his eyes.
“How did you know it was me?” came the reply.
“I know your beautiful voice anywhere.” replied James smoothly. He opened his eyes to see Lily’s beutiful ones on him. She was blushing slightly under her wavy red hair.
“Mind if I join you two?” asked Lily.
“Not at all, I’ll go and find Moony and see if he is done doing homework.” Sirius said standing up and walking back up to the Great Hall. James was silently praising him.
“Who’s Moony?” Lily asked when Sirius had disappeared into the hall and she sat down beside James.
“Moony is Remus.” answered James sitting up to be eye level with Lily.
“Oh, why do you guys have nicknames? What do they mean?” asked Lily.
“We just came up with them, and I can’t tell you why we named ourselves though’s names.” answered James. The truth was Moony was for Remus because he was a werewolf and was a werewolf with the moon. James was named Prongs because he transformed into a stag. Sirius was Padfoot because he transformed into a dog. And Peter was named Wormtail because he transformed into a rat.
“Okay, I respect that you can’t tell me. Can you tell me why once a month you look like you got out at the bad end of a fight?” questioned Lily.
“No, sorry, I can’t tell you that either.” James answered. “Lily, can I ask you something?” James asked after a minute of thinking.
“Sure.” Lily asked as she laid down while James remained upright.
“Why are you sitting with me when last year you hated me? Even at the beginning of this year, on the train?” James said, asking a question he wanted to for a while, just changed a little.
“I have never hated you James.” replied Lily after a while. James was confused by that answer.
“But, then why were you always mean, and acted like you hated my guts?” James asked.
“Because I never wanted to tell you how I really felt. You have been out with so many girls and you dumped them within a week or two. I thought that you kept asking me out just for the chase, that after a while you would get tired of it and leave me alone. All my friends have been saying since first year that you really liked me, but I didn’t want to be another one of though’s girls that crush all over you and get their hearts broken.” Lily said, she sounded like she had been wanting to say that for a while. James had been out with a lot of girls, and had dumped them after a week or two, but the only reason for that was because he loved Lily and all other girls seemed to be below her, James just couldn’t stay with them that long.
“I’m sorry Lily. I really am. But what are you getting at?” said James.
“That I like you, but you were so mean, you were a bully. I didn’t want to give you a chance because you were mean and I wanted to wait to see if you grew up at all, and you did.” answered Lily staring up at the clouds floating lazily by.
James was stunned. Here was the girl he had chased and loved for seven years saying that she liked him. It was as if fireworks were going off in his head, but he didn’t want to blow it, he couldn’t just ask her out, again. She had just said that he had changed, and he hadn’t asked her out at al this year because of what Remus had told him over that last summer.
Lily and James just laid there for a while until James looked at his watch and saw that it was one in the afternoon.
“We had better get back in. Our friends might think were up to something.” said James raisin his eyebrows like he was serious.
“Okay then.” They both got up and made their way to the Great Hall to see their friends all eating with each other. They all looked up and smirked. James and Lily just looked at each other then sat down at the table and ate some lunch. The rest of the day wasn’t that interesting, James and Sirius figured out that they should get some homework done and spent the rest of the afternoon doing just that.
A man with blonde hair that was a little messy and robes covered in slime was standing in front of him. He was pointing a wand that had tape around the top part of it at him. “Say good bye, to your memories.” he said. “Obliviate”. A green jet of light burst out from the tape but instead of hitting him, it hit the man with blonde hair. He was lifted into the air and smacked into the ceiling. The whole room shook and rocks started to fall. He turned around and ran then threw himself down as rocks cascaded all around him.
“JAMES!” a voice shouted at him. He was in his bed and screaming, as soon as he realized this he stopped. Again, he was covered in sweat and the sheets were all around him. “Mate, what happened?” Sirius asked looking truly alarmed.
“Bad dream.” answered James shakily.
“That’s what you said yesterday. Something’s wrong, tell us, were your friends, you can tell us anything.” said Remus who came up to the side of Sirius.
“I’m being serious, it was just a bad dream.” Sirius knew that now was not a time for jokes, because he is constantly making jokes about his name. They both still looked worried but believed him. What is up with these dreams? James asked himself as he got dressed for a day of school work.

Chapter 8: Old loses
Monday wasn’t very eventful. Except for the weird dreams. When he was in the dreams, the point of view he was looking through was shorter than he was, as if he was reliving a past memory. Only he never had any memories of doing any of though’s things. The other strange thing that happened was that every time James got close to Lily that day she would pointedly look down or the other way. Other than that, it was an uneventful day. Remus had been quiet for two days, and nothing James asked, said, or did, seemed to change the way he acted. They were all sitting down to dinner and James had enough of Remus’ sadness.
“Remus, come on tell me what’s bugging you. Because it is obviously eating you alive!” James asked with concern.
“Um, well, James not now. I’m busy.” said Remus offhandedly.
“What do you have to do?” James asked shrewdly.
“I.. Have to go to the library.” Remus stuttered.
“For what?” James questioned looking skeptical.
“Homework. Now I have to go.” snapped Remus, he stood up and left the table with Sirius, James and Peter looking after him.
“Okay, something is defiantly up with him.” Sirius said.
“Just how do we get him to tell?” James trailed off looking into the space for the answer. When James, Sirius and Peter got into the dorm, Remus was already asleep so they couldn’t question him. James just decided to go to sleep to and deal with Remus in the morning.
James woke up the next morning with a plan fully developed in his head. He went down to breakfast when he saw that Remus’ bed was empty. When he entered the Great Hall was when he looked at his watch, it was six o’clock. James groaned at how early it was but he had to be there for Remus right now, so it was worth it. James looked around, no one was there, except Remus.
“Hey.” James said as he slid into a seat opposite of Remus.
“Hey.” Remus said. James didn’t know how to help, except try and get information out of him, but that didn’t work last time. He knew what he had to do.
“Remus, how’s things going for you right now? I mean, your not telling your best friends why you are upset, so is it really something bad or not?” James asked.
“No, it’s nothing really bad, or anything.” Remus said looking down at the table.
“Remus,” James started, “can you tell me?”
“Yes, but not right now.” said Remus, when James looked at him he sighed. “I will tell you, don’t worry it’s nothing bad” Remus smiled and started to eat as the food appeared.
“Okay, Moony.” James smiled as they went back to their nicknames. Remus nodded at his nickname. They ate in silence for a while, almost half and hour, until Peter came down and sat next to James.
“Hey Wormtail.” James said as Peter pulled dishes towards himself sleepily.
“Mmirongs.” replies Peter yawning. James just looked at him.
“Hey, Moony, Prongs and Wormtail.” Sirius called from down the table. He came over and sat down beside Remus.
“You seem, cheerful.” Remus noted.
“Sure am, which is odd... I mean I only went to sleep and woke up this morning...” Sirius answered looking dreamy. “Owell.” and he started digging into the food all around him. During classes that day James tried to get Remus to tell him but he wouldn’t. He just gave up and worked out what was going on with Lily. She acted like she hadn’t said anything. James just took what he got and ignored her back and just worried about his classes and Remus.
“Fine!” Remus whispered during Transfiguration. “I’ll tell you.” James perked up from the half sleep he was in. “You know Sarah?” Remus continued, James nodded. “Well, in Hogsmead, she and I were talking I accidentally asked her out.” Remus said in a rush. James’ eyes grew big. “Yeah, she, she told me that she already was going out with someone.”
“Remus, I’m so sorry.” James whispered back shocked by his friends own daring.
“Thanks, but in a way that’s good, gives me something new to look forward to.” Remus said as Professor McGonagall came around an inspected the progress they made.
“Mr. Lupin, you can do better. Concentrate now.” Professor McGonagall walked on to the table behind theirs.
James was doing fine in this class, he was best with Sirius. Transfiguration just came naturally to them. Before James knew it, it was October, and the teachers were piling on the homework.
“You’d think they have something better to do don’t you?” Sirius complained the first Friday of the month.
“Ah, come on, it is our NEWT’s. Of course they are going to pile on the homework.” Remus said from somewhere in the enormous pile of books.
“Moony? Where are you?” Peter asked.
“I’m right here Wormtail.” answered Remus as he came out of the stack of books.
“Oh, I was wondering if you could help me with this problem...” Wormtail was saying but James tuned him out as he saw Lily. Something had been different, but Lily wouldn’t look at James, it was almost as if nothing had happened. James sighed as he watched her go through the portrait hole. Sirius looked up as he heard James sigh and looked around.
“Prongs, mate, you have to get over it.” Sirius said sympathetically.
“Yeah, I know, I just can’t.” James answered and went back to his homework.
Soon October faded into November then just as quickly melted into a snowy December. The snow was almost two feet deep, the first years needed to have an older student or a teacher carve a path in the snow to get to their Herbology class. Remus had gotten better after telling James, Sirius and Peter what had happened, so everything was back to normal. Lily acted like she hated my guts, Remus was studding with Peter and Sirius was doing homework, which was the only thing abnormal. The Christmas break was coming up soon, in fact it was the day before everyone, or almost everyone, would be leaving to go home. James decided to stay at school since his parent were just going to work and wouldn’t be around anyways, Sirius was staying too since he lived with the Potters’. Remus was staying so James and Sirius could help him with his transformations but Peter was going, he and his family were going to the United States. The way that Peter said where he was going gave James the idea that he was lying but James didn’t question it. The day slipped by and before anyone knew it, Christmas break was here.
“Finally!” Sirius exclaimed loudly. Him, James and Remus were in the common room. Almost no one stayed for break, all the parents wanted their children with them.
“Finally what Padfoot?” Remus asked dreamily, staring out of the window that the snow was slowly filling up.
“Finally it’s Christmas and finally no more classes.” Sirius exclaimed sitting back in his chair.
James sighed. “Want to get something to eat?” It was almost nine o’clock and James was bored.
“‘Course.” Sirius answered standing up, shortly followed by Remus.
“Might as well make sure you don’t get yourselves killed.” Remus replied to the shocked face James had on. Sirius laughed as they walked out of the portrait hole. They all stopped and looked at each other, their looks confirmed the others worst fears. They heard moaning.
They walked closer to where it was coming from, an empty classroom across the hall. They heard talking as the moaning became coherent.
“Mm... no... please... no...mm.” They all looked at each other, they knew that voice. They barged into the room and looked at Sarah. Remus rushed in and looked wide eyed at Sirius and James. They were shocked but that was nothing compared to how Remus was feeling. He carried Sarah all the way to the staircase to the girls dormitory.
“LILY!!??” Remus shouted at the top of his lungs. Lily appeared in a second looking around alarmed.
“What?!” Lily asked wide eyed.
“Sarah, we don’t know what happened, we found her like this.” Remus dropped Sarah into midair as Lily levitated her to their dorm room. She came back down and asked for exactly what had happened. Once they finished she looked shocked and confused.
“Why would she be moaning I wonder?” Lily said to herself and to everyone at the same time.
“Your going to have to ask her that when she wakes up.” Sirius replied.
“I know.” Lily answered gloomily.
“You should go and check up on her, she could be waking up.” said James.
“Yeah, okay, talk to you guys later.” and Lily walked up the steps to her dormitory.
“So,” Sirius started, “want to go get that food?”
“Sure.” James answered while Remus said “Padfoot!”
“Okay.” Sirius said and walked out of the portrait hole with James and, surprisingly, Remus.
The next morning came and Sirius and James were outside in their battle stations. They were throwing snowball after snowball at each other. Remus stood on the sidelines and watched. Soon James and Sirius became unrecognizable piles of snow.
“I fink if fine tof fwit.” Sirius mumbled through all the snow that was covering him.
“Fi ink you ight.” James mumbled back.
“How can you guys hold a conversation when I can’t even understand what you are saying?” asked Remus for a great distance away, even though in actuality, it was only fifteen feet. James unburied himself from his pile of snow as Sirius did. They trooped back up to the school through the now almost three feet deep snow. They headed up to their common room and played Exploding Snap and Wizards chess the rest of the day.

Chapter 9: Truth revealed
After two days of not really doing much except horsing around, the Marauders, minus Peter, decided to get some work done.
“That’s it!” Sirius yelled as he threw his books down. “I can’t take all of this... this... work!”
Remus just looked at him with raised eyebrows and said, “How are you supposed to get anything done? If you get it down now then we can do whatever we want.”
“Hi.” said a voice that they haven’t heard in about three days.
“Hey Sarah.” answered the Marauders in union.
“How are you feeling?” asked Remus.
“Better.” Sarah answered as she sat down on a pile of books.
“Do you want to tell us what happened? Why you were there?” asked Sirius.
“I might as well,” Sarah began and Remus, James and Sirius all perked up. “Well, I was just walking and then someone grabbed and stunned me. They pulled me into the classroom and once I was conscious they asked me for information on everything. Like about students that go here and what the Gryffindor’s are up to. They didn’t get anything out of me, that is when they tortured me, you know, with the Crucio Curse.” Sarah finished. James, Sirius and Remus were looking at her with big eyes and jaws dropped.
“Are you okay?” James asked with almost more urgency in his voice.
“I’m fine, now. I’ll be okay.” she reassured.
“Okay, if your sure.” Sirius said looking doubtful.
“Yes, I am.” Sarah repeated. “Need any help?”
“No, I think we got this, you can go if you want to.” James said looking at Sirius.
“Okay then, I’ll see you guys later.” and she got up and left.
“What?” Sirius asked when James continued to look at him a little suspiciously.
“Nothing.” James said slowly.
“Okay then,” Sirius said giving James a weird look. “Want to go out side or something? I really can’t take all of this homework anymore.”
“Yeah, okay, how about we go outside?” James suggested with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
James, Remus and Sirius were all outside within a few minutes, they were in their battle stations, again. This time Remus was in it too. They had all magicked the snow to form up into a balls and all they had to do was throw them. Soon a full on war was waging, snow was flying everywhere, only a few of them actually hitting a target. They were laughing too hard to really aim straight. After a while they trooped back up to their dormitory. Christmas was rapidly approaching, a few days later, it was here.
“Awesome present Padfoot!” James exclaimed as he pulled out a bag of fireworks.
“Thanks Prongs!” Remus said from under his mountain of wrapping paper.
“No problem Moony.” James called from under his equally large pile of wrapping paper. “Thanks Moony!” James called a while later as he pulled out a book called The ways of the Mischievous.
“Thanks Padfoot.” Remus called sometime after James had finished unwrapping all of his presents. He was eating a big box of Burtie Botts Every Flavor Beans, and watching Sirius and Remus unwrap more of their presents.
It was days after Christmas and the rest of the school was back. Classes were back in session and Quidditch was one thing on everyone’s mind. The first match was scheduled at the end of the week, on Saturday. Today was Wednesday and James and Sirius had Quidditch practice. Since James was captain, it was up to him to pull his team through. They were at the top of there game. Even though it was raining like it had never rained before, the Gryffindor team could be seen outside, practicing until they couldn’t tell the difference between someone’s head and a Bludger.
“Okay everyone!” James shouted over the thundering rain. “That was great! Slytherin doesn’t stand a chance!” everyone started to troop back into the changing room, then back into the castle.
Saturday was here, James and Sirius were barely eating, even though they had both been on the quidditch team since their third year, they still got nervous.
“Come on, you guys have to eat something.” Remus urged.
“Were not hungry Moony.” Sirius replied.
“You have to eat something.” answered Remus.
“Well see you guys later.” said James as him and Sirius stood up and walked on of the Great Hall towards the Quidditch pitch.
“Could be better.” James commented. It was grey overhead, and it looked like it wanted to rain again. As soon as James commented on the weather it started to sprinkle. James and Sirius went into the changing room were they meet the rest of the team.
“All right, this is Slytherin, we have to crush them!” everyone cheered. “Are we going to go out there and win?!” “Yes!!” everyone shouted back. “Then lets go!” James lead everyone out of the changing room and onto the pitch where it was raining at a steady pace, with no sign of lighting up. As James walked up he met with the Slytherin team captain and shook his hand as neither of them showed any pain, or any sign that the other was attempting to take their fingers off. The whistle blew and fourteen broomsticks left the ground.
“Avery passes to Nott, who passes to Crabbe, which is intercepted by Black, who passes the Quaffle to Longbottom, who passes it back to Black who shoots and... SCORES!! 10-0 Gryffindor.” James smiled to himself. Ten minutes later the score was 110-50 Gryffindor. James was still looking around for the Snitch. He saw a flash of light and did a double take. No, just a watch. James was still swopping around the pitch until he saw another flash of light and looked directly at the Golden Snitch.
He dived, so did Lestrange. They were neck and neck the Snitch turned abruptly and the boys almost collided into each other to make the turn closest to the Snitch. James stretched out his arm as did Lestrange on his left. He felt Lestranges finger nails dig into the back of his hand but it was his hand that closed around the tiny winged ball. He tilted his broom upward and flew around the pitch with the Snitch tightly closed in his hand above his head. The rest of the team came around James and high-five each other. They flew down to the pitch and into the changing rooms where they heard there was going to be a party, as usual. Sirius looked at James when he heard this. James caught his eyes and nodded smiling, Sirius smiled too.
When everyone left the changing James and Sirius hurried to the kitchen. Once they tickled the pear and got in the house elves bunched up around their feet asking if they could get them anything. Once they got everything they need they headed up to the common room. Everyone was cheering once they got in and everyone asked where they got the food which they replied with a sly glint in their eyes. The party lasted until one in the morning. Once James hit the bed, he was asleep. Tonight he didn’t have a weird dream about someone who was shorter then him, instead he was at a wedding, more exact, he was the groom.
“James Potter, do you take Lillian Evans to be your wife?” the man asked him.
“I do.” he replied simply. A gold ribbon left the mans wand and wrapped around Lily’s ring finger and turned into a wedding band.
“Lillian Evans, do you take James Potter to be your husband?” the man asked. James turned to face her, she looked stunning to say the least. She was wearing a dress of the softest gold with white, her hair was done up in the back of her head with strands falling all over her face in soft curls. They were holding hands in midair in front of the man who James presumed was bonding them. His wand was place on top of their inter linked hands and a soft gold ribbon came out of it again as Lily said “I do.” the ribbon snaked around James hand, finally settling comfortably around his ring finger.
“You my kiss the bride.” the man said smiling. James leaned in just as Lily did. Their faces were only centimeters apart, he felt her breath on his face, sweetly smelling of her. Their lips were just about to touch, softly-
“Hey, Prongs, time to wake up!” Remus said.

Chapter 10: Useless worriesJames got up, he remembered he was dreaming, but he couldn’t remember what it was about. The more and more he thought about it the less and less he remembered it. Soon it was gone altogether and the Marauders were walking down to breakfast. James sat down next to Lily and the rest of the Marauders sat around them.
“What are you doing tonight?” Lily asked James, James looking around at Remus and exchanged nervous looks. Tonight was the full moon.
“Um...” James started nervously. “Guy’s night out.” James finally answered. Lily seemed a bit bothered by that but didn’t say anything.
“Okay, Remus can I talk to you?” Lily asked suddenly.
“Ah, sure.” Remus replied nervously.
They both got up and walked just out of the Great Hall.
“What?” Remus asked once they were out of earshot.
“Tonight’s the full moon.” Lily said simply. Remus sighed.
“You know don’t you.” Remus stated more then asked.
“Yes, I know that you’re a werewolf.” Remus sighed again.
“How did you find out?” Remus asked after a while.
“I saw that you were gone every month, and that you were ill when you came back. Are you alright?” Lily asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just please, please don’t tell anyone.” Remus pleaded.
Lily felt so sorry for him. She nodded and suddenly jumped and hugged him. He was so surprised that he didn’t know how to react. Just as suddenly as it started, Lily let go.
“Where is James going tonight?” Lily asked with pure concern in her voice.
Remus never knew Lily cared where James was, or what he did. “It’s guy’s night out, only I won’t be there, obviously.”
“Okay.” Lily answered looking like she didn’t believe it, but didn’t push the subject.
They both walked back into the Great Hall and took their seats again. Everyone looked at them.
“What?” Remus finally asked when he couldn’t take the staring anymore.
“What did you guys talk about?” James asked.
“I’ll tell you later.” Remus muttered as Lily went back to talking to her friends.
James went back to eating once he knew that he would be told what was going on. Since it was Sunday the Marauders had all day off. They went down and sat under the tree after breakfast, Remus told them what Lily asked and what she had found out.
“Remus, can’t that be dangerous? She could run into us or something while we are going to the Womping Willow.” James asked.
“I know, but what’s worse is that I think she is on to you.” Remus stated while looking over at the girls by the waters edge, turning slightly red in the face.
“What do you mean ‘she is on to me’?” James asked with butterflies in his stomach, maybe she liked him.
“Don’t give her a reason to suspect you.” Remus gave as an answer still looking over at Sarah. James stomach dropped, Lily didn’t like him.
“Okay, well, what am I supposed to do?” James asked he tried so hard not to stare at Lily when she tossed her hair about as she laughed.
“I don’t know, try not to get hurt tonight.” Remus suggested finally turning to look at James. James met his look and understood what it meant, he sighed.
“Remus, don’t beat yourself up, it’s not worth it.” James answered Remus’ look.
“Ah, your right James, sorry.” Remus said and turned back towards the lake. Later that afternoon the Marauders were walking through the hall looking for Peter.
“Wormtail!!” Sirius shouted after half an hour of looking. James suddenly smacked himself in the head and ran up a flight of stairs, down a corridor, up another flight of stairs and turned down the corridor until he reached the painting of the Fat Lady. James gave the password as a shout and continued to run through the common room and up to their dormitory. He pulled out his trunk and reached for the very bottom of it and pulled out his hand. Along with it was a piece of parchment. James pulled out his wand and tapped the parchment while muttering hurriedly, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” He scanned Hogwarts with Remus and Sirius. They looked everywhere. Finally they found him in the Trophy Room.
The Marauders left the dorm and ran to the Trophy Room, only to pause right outside the door. They heard him muttering to himself. They could only pick up words, not even whole phrases, and surely not enough to figure out what he was talking about.
“A... must... He... I...succeed... okay... know... won’t... this...” He almost sounded like he was talking himself into something. Suddenly Sirius pushed the door in. He whipped out his wand and pointed it at Peter. Peter had shock and a scared look on his face.
“Wh-what are y-you guys do-doing here?” Peter stammered.
“What are we doing here? What are you doing here?” Sirius yelled furiously. James didn’t really see what there was to be mad about. Sirius had it in his blood though, his family was very violent.
“Padfoot!” Remus yelled the same time James did, together they pulled Sirius off of Peter and restored him to a calm level.
“Peter, what are you doing here?” Remus asked a little bit more polite than Sirius did, but still had fury hidden in his voice.
“I-I just came h-he-here to-to think.” Peter stuttered more than ever. Having a wand pointed at his throat and Remus talking to him in that deadly voice had unnerved him, a lot.
“Fine.” Sirius snarled and stalked out of the room. Remus looked Peter up and down then gave a snort of disgust and followed Sirius. James stood there, then it hit him, they thought Peter was turning to the dark side. James pulled his wand out too. He walked right up to Peter, standing a full head taller than him, he put the wand in Peter’s face and said in no more than a whisper, but it unnerved Peter the most.
“If you ever turn on us, it would be the last thing you do, you got that?” James said in a voice that sounded like he was going to kill Peter. He turned on his heel and stalked out of the room after the rest of his friends. Back in the dormitory Sirius was pacing and Remus was calming him down, as much as himself.
“I can’t believe the little git! He turned on us.” Sirius said furiously.
“Sirius, you don’t know that! You can’t just do that to our best friend! We don’t criticize you because of your family, don’t believe that Peter would ever turn on us, you know he wouldn’t do that! You just jumped to conclusions, we didn’t even hear enough to put a whole sentence together sensibly.” said James as he sat down on his bed and looked long and hard into Sirius’ eyes that never left his. Sirius sighed.
“Your right, sorry Prongs, I lost it for a second, I didn’t want my friend to turn into the same people I ran away from.” Sirius replied as he sat down beside Remus, on his bed, facing James.
“Moony, it’s five o’clock.” said James suddenly looking at his watch.
“See you guys.” replied Remus as he jumped up with a worried look in his eye and a wild look on his face.
“It’ll be fine!” Sirius called after Remus. Remus nodded as he ran out of the room. James walked over to his trunk and pulled out his invisibility cloak. As he stood up he got a glimpse of the outside from the window next to his bed. The sun’s rays were skimming just above the tops of the trees in the Forbidden Forrest. The setting sun cast a pinkish glow over the castle and it’s grounds. As James looked around he saw Remus and Madam Pomphrey walking to the Womping Willow. James turned back around to face Sirius and nodded.
They threw the cloak over themselves and walked out of the portrait hole and down to the lawn. This time they would go in without Peter there, not that he was much help. Once they were in they heard a crash and immediately turned into their animagus’. They followed the tunnel until it led them to where Remus was, a fully grown werewolf.
Prongs charged at Moony and bowled him over. Moony got back up but didn’t look like he was going to attack anymore. So Padfoot and Prongs waited patiently. After four hours, Padfoot made the wrong move of stepping forward, the floor boards creaked and Moony looked up. Moony started growling looking directly at Padfoot, Prongs stepped forward also, the floor boards groaned. Soon Moony attacked again, Padfoot met him half way but Moony picked him up and slammed him against the far wall. Prongs attack as soon as Padfoot hit the wall so as to get a head start. Prongs hit Moony and he went flying. He hit the opposite wall and slid down it. Padfoot came up beside Prongs, Prongs looked at him and he looked back, Prongs could see pain very evident in his eyes but turned to look back at Moony.
Moony didn’t attack anymore. So Prongs went behind Moony and nudged him in his back to make him walk. Padfoot left the room first followed by Moony then Prongs. The three animals walked along the streets on Hogsmead. In and out of alleyways when people came out of their shops. Soon the moon went down and the two friends helped the third into an alleyway. Remus was laying on the floor panting heavily and ghost pale. They started to head back up to the castle. When they reached the bush where they hid the invisibility cloak James and Sirius, threw it over themselves and disappeared. They followed Remus back into the castle and into the portrait hole, to make it look like only one person went in.
They got to their dormitory and as soon as they feel down on their beds they were asleep. They were reawaken only a few hours after they went to sleep.
“Moony, your lucky.” Sirius mumbled as he stumbled around the room looking for clean robes, since they slept in their robes from last night.
“Why Padfoot?” Remus answered still laying in bed but no asleep.
“You don’t have to go to your classes today.” finished James as he got all of his clothing on. James scanned Sirius and saw only the tail end of a visible scratch and a lot of tiny scratches on his face. Sirius did the same to James. James got one scratch that was visible, a long deep cut across his cheek.
“Good as it is going to get, are you going to have breakfast with us Moony?” asked James as him and Sirius headed to the door.
“No that’s okay, see you guys later.” called Remus.
“Okay.” Sirius and James answered at the same time. They headed down to the Great Hall and sat next to the girls, Peter and Remus were both missing. And the girls asked where they were.
“Well, Remus is in our dorm, and I think Peter might be there as well, we didn’t see him this morning.” answered Sirius as the morning post came. James didn’t bother to look up, he got post, but not a lot. Sirius completely ignored it since he would never get post. So James was surprised when an owl landed in front of him and held out it’s leg for James to take the letter off. He flipped it over and read what it said on the front, it only had four words.
Don’t open at table

Chapter 11: The letterJames just stared at the letter, it didn’t say it was to him, but it didn’t say it wasn’t either. He looked over and saw what Sirius was holding. Since Sirius never got mail it was a real shock for him. James looked over Sirius’ shoulder and read what it said:
Don’t open at table
“Hey, Sirius,” James whispered. “Look at this.” He showed Sirius his letter.
“What is this for?”
“We’ll have to open them.”
“Now? It says not at the table.”
“Since when have we cared what people said?”
“Your right, but I don’t think we should open it at the table, come on.” Sirius got up and left shortly followed by James. They when into an empty classroom and opened their letters.
Potter
I know you hate me, please help me though.
Don’t let anyone else read this.
Meet me on the stairs to divination classroom at 2 o’clock tonight.
“What?” muttered James.
“What?” asked Sirius looking up from his letter.
“What does your letter say?”
“Here.” Sirius handed James his letter and James handed over his letter.
Black
I know your past
I know your future
I know it all
If you help me, I’ll help you
Meet me tonight at 2 o’clock on the stairs to the divination classroom
“Why would this person want to meet us both at the same place, at the same time?” Sirius asked
“I think it’s a scheme.” James said as he opened the door and walked out, followed by Sirius.
“So, should we go?” Sirius asked.
“Of course.” said James simply as they headed down the steps to potions.
The waited outside the doors until Professor Slughorn came and opened them. They all filed in and took their seats.
“Today class, we will be splitting into partners. Ah, let’s see. Cordy with Lestrange.” Sarah went, reluctantly, to go see with Lestrange. “Evans with Petegrew.” Lily got up and sat with Peter, disgust evident on her face. “Potter with Snape.” James’ jaw dropped, but he got up and sat next to Snape. “Black with Black.” Sirius’ jaw dropped father than James, if that was possible. Sirius got up and sat as far away as possible while still being on the table, away from him cousin, Bellatrix. “Lupin and Batler” Remus got up and sat next to Kat. “Longbottom with Black.” Frank stood up and stalked over to Narcissa. “Black with Haren” Regulus stood up and walked over to Briana. “Malfoy and Forte.” Alice stood up and scowled all the way over to Malfoy. Finally everyone was paired up and was in their new seat.
“Okay then, now that you have your new seats-” Professor Slughorn started.
“Wait, what?! We have to stay in these seats? For how long?” James asked incredulously.
“Yes Mr. Potter, you have to stay in those seats, you have to stay in them for the rest of the year.” Slughorn answered. “Now, you and your partner will have to make potions together and...” Professor Slughorn carried on about what yourself and your partner will be doing. James wasn’t listening anymore, Sirius had just sent him a note.
Prongs,
We have to go tonight, if that person doesn’t show up then fine, we take the cloak.
We have to just go, we could find out something to our advantage.
Stay up tonight with me
Don’t tell Moony and Wormtail
Padfoot
James read the letter threw again. He smiled to himself. And hastily wrote on the other side of the letter.
Padfoot
Sure, okay so we have to pretend we are asleep so Moony and Wormtail won’t suspect anything. And we have to get Snape.
Prongs
He folded it into an origami bird and tapped it with his wand and watched it fly across the room to where Sirius was. Snape suddenly stood up and James looked up and saw instructions on the board. He picked himself up off his chair and went to go help Snape get the ingredients. When he sat back down Snape had started on the potion. The Marauders left the potions class in an hour. They had a free period to do what they wanted to. Sirius and James wanted to talk more about the letters that they got, who sent them and what Sirius’ meant, since James’ was pretty straight forward. After what seemed like a very long time, it was dark out and Remus and Peter had fallen asleep.
“Prongs, Prongs, are you awake?” Sirius whispered. James didn’t want to answer to scare him, it worked.
“James? James! Are you awake?!” Sirius said in a little more than whisper.
“Ah, yes.” James said and rolled over with a grin on him face.
“Are you tiring to kill me?” Sirius exaggerated.
“Ah, come now, you know I wouldn’t want to kill you, your resources are way to valuable.” James said as he slid to the side of the bed and Sirius sat down. He laughed bitterly and short.
“Ah, what time it it?” asked Sirius.
“It is, 1:42 am.” answered James. He yawned widely.
“Come on Prongs, we have to stay up!! Only 17 more minutes.” Sirius answered.
“Then we should get going.”
“Yeah.”
“Get going where?” asked a sleepy voice from behind them. James pulled out is wand and pointed it at Remus’ heart.
“Moony, what are you doing up?” James asked as he lowered his wand.
“I just got up. What are you doing up? And are you leaving?” Remus asked as he got up and walked around to face James.
“No, we just got up too.” James said simply as Sirius was sitting on his bed.
“Yeah, we just started talking.” Sirius said. They both felt terrible lying to their best friend like that.
“Well, night.” James said as he laid down and closed his eyes. Sirius did the same and Remus went back to bed. After a while his breathing got heavier and heavier and James knew he was asleep. Him and Sirius got up again and got the invisibility cloak and threw it over Sirius and himself. They ran up to the divination tower and took the cloak off. James looked at his watch, it was 1:58 am. Two minutes later someone was coming out of the shadows. James quickly threw the cloak back over himself and Sirius. As the shadow gained more solidity, James almost gasped. Bellatrix Black took form from the darkness.

Chapter 12: Help needed“Guess Potter and my dear cousin didn’t want to show up after all.” she whispered to herself but it echoed all around her in the quiet.
“Why, Bella, do you need us?” Sirius whispered in a deadly voice without take the cloak off of him or James.
“Who said that?” said Bellatrix as she pulled out her wand, turning on the spot.
“Put that thing away, you don’t know how to use it.” added James in a voice that matched Sirius’ deadly one.
“This is not funny! Come out.” Bellatrix said in a normal voice.
“You had better keep your voice down, someone might here you.” Sirius whispered with venom in his voice.
“I think it is time to show ourselves.” James whispered in Sirius’ ear.
“Your right.” Sirius whipped off the cloak to reveal himself and James while Bellatrix back was to them, and quickly put the cloak out of site as she finished her full rotation and almost screamed of fright.
“Where did you... never mind, I don’t want to know.” she finished when she recovered her breathing.
“What do you want with us?” James whispered in the same voice he had used.
“Well, I need... I need, your guys’ help.” said Bellatrix with a look of disgust on her face. James grinned wickedly.
“And why, dear cousin, do you want our help? We are but blood traitors that have befriend mudbloods.” Sirius said, even though he had never said ‘mudblood’ before, he only used it to make his cousin angry, and it worked.
She sighed loudly and obviously. “Trust me,” she finally answered. “I would
love to pick someone else, but. I. Needed. You. Two.” she said threw clenched teeth. This was obviously killing her, and that just made James and Sirius grin evilly.
“Ah, how can we be of service?” Sirius said as though it was killing his too.
“I need you to,” she drew a very deep breath and let it out slowly before continuing. “I. Need. You. To. Go. Out. With. Me” she said her teeth so clenched together the sound was muffled greatly.
“What?!” James and Sirius said almost too loudly but caught themselves before they shouted it.
“You heard me! Trust me...” she faltered and looked at the ground.
“Why on
earth would any of us go out with you?” Sirius asked. “And you’re my cousin, which I wish you weren’t, but that is gross!”
“I don’t want to go out with
you!! It’s... Potter.” said Bellatrix venomously.
“What? Why do you need me to go out with you? And like I would.” he added as an afterthought.
“Because, he will hurt me. And I know dirt on you two that will make your hair stand up.” Bellatrix said, going back to her old self.
“Well, I would never date you! Never in a million years!” said James and Sirius and himself walked away. When they got out of site they threw the cloak over themselves and ran to their dormitory. They took off the cloak and just stared wide eyed at each other. They slowly shook their heads at the same time, like looking into a mirror with a different reflection.
“What, just, happened?” Sirius said slowly and uncomprehending.
“I don’t know.” answered James just as slowly.
“Yeah, you guys didn’t go anywhere.” said a voice dripping with sarcasm. They turned towards Remus’ bed and saw him poke his head out from under the covers.
“Okay, Moony, are you trying to get yourself killed? I almost hexed you again.” James said, his hand on his wand handle.
“No I’m not, I just want to know what’s up with you two.” said Remus sitting up and looking at the two of them with concern in his eyes. James looked at Sirius and nodded with Sirius. They both pulled out their letters and handed them to Remus. He lit his wand tip and read and reread both of them.
“Well, who wrote this? You obviously just met the person if you are getting back just now.” asked Remus with interest. James and Sirius grimaced horribly.
“It was Bellatrix Black.” James spat. Remus’ eyes widened noticeably from his lit wand.
“What did she want?”
“She... she... wanted to go out with me.” James said with the biggest grimace ever and more disgust on his face then Snape ever brought to it. Remus’ eyes were so wide now they were endanger of falling out of his head.
“Okay,” Remus said slowly looking back at the letters. “Padfoot, your letter has more to it, like it’s more of a threat then Prongs’ is.” he said carefully.
“Yeah, I know, I just wish I knew what it was. I mean, I know she knows my past, we grew up together,” he grimaced. “But how could she know my future?”
“No one does, she is just messing with you.” Remus reassured his friend, as he had done for him.
Sirius sighed and nodded. “Your right, well we better go to sleep it is...?” he looked around because he didn’t have a watch.
“2:42" finished James, he did a double take at his watch to make sure he read it correctly. He got into his bed that he had been sitting on along with Sirius and Remus. They all murmured their goodnights’ and feel asleep.
The next morning the Marauders headed down to breakfast. Peter was with them, but he was more nervous then ever and wouldn’t talk to anyone.
James yawned hugely Sirius and Remus did the same and all the girls looked at them.
“Why are you guys so tired?” Lily asked looking at James. “And James, where did you get that scratch?”
“No where.” James yawned again and started eating. Lily shrugged and turned back to her food.
“Come on, we have to go to Transfiguration.” said Remus as he stood up and swung his bag over his shoulder. Remus was about to leave but Lily caught up to him and pulled him beside the Great Hall.
“Where did James get hurt?” asked Lily.
“Him and Sirius were wrestling.” answered Remus as unconcerned as his could possibly be.
“Okay, are you okay?” asked Lily with genuine concern in her voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine, don’t worry. And James is fine too.” Remus added as an after thought.
“Okay, come on, we’d better go.” They headed to Transfiguration together and took their seats.
Just as soon, the school day was over and the Marauders were in the common room. James and Sirius had to leave at five o’clock to go to Quidditch practice. They finally got back to the common room at eight o’clock to find Remus and Peter.
“How was practice?” asked Remus not taking his eyes off his homework.
“It was good. I think we will win our next match.” James replied confidently pulling out his homework.
The next few days just passed by as normal as ever. On Saturday Sirius and James both got letters.
Potter
Please meet me again
1 o’clock astronomy tower
James just looked at it. Finally he looked up at Sirius and saw him looking at his letter. James looked over his shoulder and read what Bellatrix had sent to him.
Black
I said I needed your help, and I do
come with Potter
“Okay, I don’t think we should go.” stated James when Sirius had finished reading his letter.
“Yeah, who cares what she says about us to other people, it’s not like they will believe her.” Sirius said and stood up and went to the dormitory. Remus was looking at him now with a curious expression on his face. James sighed and handed the letter to him, which he quickly scanned.
“Do you have the other letter?” asked Remus when he had read it threw about three times. James ran up stairs and came back down holding his other letter and the two Sirius had gotten. Remus scanned these too and had an odd expression on his face.
“These aren’t by the same person.” Remus finally said looking up at James.
“Well, Black wrote one, we met her last night. Who is the other one by?” James asked.
“It’s by... Malfoy.” Remus said quietly as he waved his wand over the parchment. James ran up the stairs again and brought Sirius with him. Remus repeated what he told James.
“Do you think we should go?” James finally asked.
“Yes.” Sirius answered with a look of determination.

Chapter 13: The planJames and Sirius left Gryffindor Tower without the invisibility cloak but the took the map with them. James was holding the map and looking at the astronomy tower. Two people were there, Bellatrix Black and Lucius Malfoy. Sirius and James hurried and made it to the tower just as James’ watch beeped the hour. Bellatrix was alone with a dreamy look on her face. When she saw them she smiled. James was beyond freaked out and glanced at Sirius who had the biggest look of disgust imaginable.
“Hello, James, Sirius.” she said in a girly voice that did not suit her. They just stared at her for an answer. “I really would like to go out with you James.” she continued in the girly voice Sirius fake gagging but actually almost puked.
“But why do you want to go out with me? You and I hate each other.” answered James shrewdly.
“Because I want to.” said Bellatrix cocking her head to one side. Suddenly Malfoy appeared as if Bellatrix doing that had been a sign. He whipped out his wand and muttered
“Imperio” before either Sirius or James could react. James and Sirius both felt the same blissfully empty feeling.
“Potter, you are going to go out with Bella. Black you are going to help Bella. You two are to act normally. You will not remember any of this conversation. Tomorrow, Potter, you will start going out with Bella.” Malfoy whispered. James and Sirius nodded dumbly and turned around and headed back to the Gryffindor tower. When they got back they sat on their beds and started talking as if it wasn’t 1:30 at night. Remus suddenly appeared from under neath the invisibility cloak.
“We have to find a counter spell.” Remus whispered to himself. “Come on, we have to go to sleep.” Remus finished, talking to James and Sirius. They all got into bed and feel asleep.
“James, you look great.” a girl whispered.
“So do you, Bella.” James whispered to the girl. James turned and saw Lily standing there. She had tears in her eyes and as soon as James saw her she turned around and ran away. James didn’t really care. He had the love of his life, Bellatrix Black. “Want to dance?” James asked holding out his hand. He lead her out onto the dance floor and they danced and danced and danced. It was the end of the year graduation ball. He looked over at Sirius who was sitting with Sarah. He looked farther down the table and saw Remus talking with Lily. Peter and Kat were on the dance floor next to him and Bellatrix.
The dream changed. He was flying, flying through the air. He suddenly slammed into the wall. He was in Hogwarts. There was a war going on. He picked himself up and faced his opponent. He looked Lord Voldemort right in the eyes and the battle continued. They were flashing curse after curse at each other. He ducked a hex and got a glimpse of the others. Lily was fighting a few feet away and Sirius looked dead on the floor until he picked himself up and started to fight again. Remus was fighting two Death Eaters and Peter was nowhere to be found. James looked up and saw Voldemorts’ wand raised. “Avad-““James!” Sirius shouted again, shaking the life out of James. The sun was poring in the room. It was 10:16 on Sunday morning. He suddenly remembered Bellatrix and got dressed. He stopped and stood up straight. Why did he want to meet Bellatrix Black? He hated her.
No, you don’t hate her, you love her. James’ thoughts got into a fight.
You don’t want to go out with Black. Yes you do. No you don’t. Yes you do. No you don’t. “Shut up!” yelled James. Sirius looked at him as did Remus, Peter and Frank.
“Mate, no one said anything.” Sirius said looking at James as though fearing for his sanity. James shook his head and continued getting dressed. They all went down to breakfast and found the girls waiting for them. James saw Lily and he almost kneeled over. Pain, his thoughts started to spin and he could barely see.
“Prongs? James? James!” Remus shouted. James could barely hear him, his thoughts started screaming at him to do different things.
LILY! I love her. No, you love Bellatrix! No I don’t! Lily is the love of my life! “James!” Remus said again lifting James to a standing position and helped him onto the bench. Sirius cleared the forks in front of James as Remus let him go and his head feel forward onto the table. Remus was staring at him thinking furiously. Sirius was just staring blankly and Lily was crying, shaking him gently. James was still trying to get his thoughts together. Suddenly he sat up.
“Lily.” James asked nervously.
“Yeah.” answered Lily quietly.
“Will you go out with me?”
“Yes, James.” Lily replied startled. James smiled. Sirius was so shocked that his jaw just dropped. Remus was still staring at James.
“James, can I talk to you?” Remus asked suddenly struck by an idea. James followed Remus outside and down the lawn. Sirius followed them also.
“James I think that the Imperius curse was lifted.” Remus said excitedly.
“What Imperius curse? What are you talking about?” asked James looking confused. He remembered everything but what happened last night.
“James, Malfoy put the Imperius curse on us!” Sirius suddenly said remembering last night.
“Don’t you remember? It was our plan, I was going to follow you guys under the invisibility cloak. We met Bellatrix and Malfoy then Malfoy put you two under the Imperius curse and told you to go out with Bellatrix.” said Remus looking put out that James didn’t take this seriously.
“Oh... oh... yeah I do remember. We have to get them back. But why would they want me to go out with Black?” asked James as they walked back to the castle. “And what did I just do?”
“You just asked out Lily, and she said yes.” answered Sirius when they entered the Great Hall.
“Nice.” James muttered as he saw Lily and sat down next to her. “So, you said yes?” James asked shyly.
“Yeah, I did.” Lily replied with a big smile. They ate the rest of their breakfast then James took Lily’s hand and led her outside. They sat down beside the lake and talked and laughed the rest of the day. James didn’t dare try anything incase it messed up what he had already. They walked back up to Gryffindor tower together holding hands. When they got through the portrait hole everyone looked at them then started cheering. Lily blushed and James looked at her. They found their friends and sat down with them. Lily rested her head on James’ shoulder while doing the homework she had put off.
When James woke up the next morning he couldn’t believe that it had only been two weeks of school since Christmas break. He also couldn’t believe that Lily was his, finally. He sat down at breakfast between Remus and Lily. He glanced at the Slytherin table and saw almost all the Slytherins’ watching him, as soon as they saw him looking back they turned around.
* * * *
“Bella, you couldn’t make him go out with you?” Snape was saying in a hushed voice.
“No, I couldn’t. Lucius even did the Imperius curse on him but he fought it somehow. It was strong when him and Black left, then it just broke.” Bellatrix whispered back.
“You have to make him, the Dark Lord told you to. Remember why your doing this.” said Snape.
“I know, but why Potter? He is so gross, I don’t want to pretend to go out with him.” Bellatrix said as she grabbed a piece of toast.
“Yeah, well we are all going to get tortured if you don’t. And besides, were getting to Evans, remember?” Snape replied.
“Of course I remember! But why Potter? Of everyone there, I mean I hate them all, but I hate Potter and my dear cousin especially.” Bellatrix said in a voice of forced calm.
“Well,” started Snape as though Bellatrix hadn’t said anything. “If he can fight off the Imperius curse, then we could give him a love potion.” Snape finished.
“Yeah but that takes months to make and there are only four more months of the school year! Who cares about the last two months! Two months won’t make that much of a difference.” Bellatrix stated.
Snape sighed. “Your right, well then how can we make him go out with you?”
**Okay, now you know a little bit why Bella is trying to make James go out with her. Alright, I'll have the next chapter up soon. Please leave feedback!!**

Chapter 14: Lights
Lily, Sarah, Kat, Briana and the Marauders all had their first class together. When they entered the Potions classroom after lunch, James almost had enough of school, and it was only the first day. James at down as far away from Snape as physically possible. He helped with the potion they had to make, Veritaserum. Snape kept shooting nasty lines at him the whole time, but he didn’t react to any of them. Much to the annoyance of Snape, who was trying to get James in detention.
“So, got yourself a new girlfriend huh? How long will this one last, one, two minutes?” Snape sneered. James was cutting up ginger roots into exactly equal pieces, he paused for only a second, if no one was paying attention they wouldn’t have caught it. Snape’s sneer widened.
“I will be with her forever.” James stated simply. He continued cutting until he was done and threw the contents in the potion. Snape looked put out that James was still unaffected by anything he said, he tried a new approach, which would cost him dearly.
“Lily and I used to go out.” Snape said with a big smile, he had done it this time. James put down the scale he had gotten out to weigh the next ingredients, he turned and looked Snape right in the eye.
“I doubt that Lily would go out with a slim ball like you.” said James simply again, turning around again to get the exact weigh of the ingredient. Snape looked down too, out of ideas. He had hoped in this class he could brake James and get him in detention, Bella would be there and they would have hours together, then Bella would go out with James and Lily would be hurt beyond physical pain. Snape was thinking things through furiously. He had to tell Bella not to get herself in detention. He looked up again with an idea.
James was smiling to himself. Remus and Sirius and himself had planned it not to talk to the Slytherins. They were not to say anything, or anything that would get them in trouble, and they were not give them the satisfaction of giving in. They weren’t sure if they would even try and get them in trouble but they had to be prepared. Potions class ended and James got up and met Lily outside. He grabbed her hand and they walked off to their next class. When the school day finally ended James and Sirius had to go down to the Quidditch pitch and practice, they had their second game in little over a week.
James threw the quaffle into the air and the chasers caught it. He let out the bludgers then the snitch. He got on him broom and met everyone in the air. They practiced as if everyone was against the keeper. The chasers threw their hardest passes and tricky maneuvers. The beaters hit the bludgers at each other, they were at opposite ends of the pitch and hitting the bludgers their hardest. James, being the seeker, was not part of anything, he looked around for the snitch. He finally found it and dived after it, he pulled out of the dive a few seconds later folding the snitch. He tapped his wand to it to make the snitch go faster. He released it and watched it for a second before it vanished. James got a little worried that he would be able to find it again, but then he saw it. It was fluttering twenty feet above him. He pulled his broom straight up and shot forward. He was within a few inches of the snitch when it shot the opposite way. He turned sharply, too sharply! His legs slid off the broom and he was only hanging on by his hand. His other hand flung out and caught the snitch, just barely, while his legs swung and got back on the broom. He looked down and saw all his teammates had stopped and looked up at him, looking as if they were going to catch him if he fell. He smiled to himself as he returned to the playing height.
“You had a Miss Lily Evans quite terrified.” Sirius said with a gin as he nodded down to the stands. There, sitting in the first row with her hand over her mouth, was Lily. James dived down and got to eye level with her.
“Want a ride?” James asked smiling widely.
“You almost gave me a heart attack!” Lily accused.
“Sorry love.” replied James smoothly making Lily blush. “See you in a bit.” and he sped off to join his team members in the sky. “Okay, I think is enough for today. Great work everyone!” James raised his wand and said “Accio snitch” and the snitch came soaring into his hand. Too bad that’s illegal in a game, James thought as he undid the spell that made the snitch go faster than normal. He soared down to the ground to met Lily and walked back up to Gryffindor tower with her. When they reached the common room they sat down on the couch and James pulled out the homework he didn’t do since he had quidditch. Lily looked over his shoulder, reading what he had put. She corrected him every few minutes. It was eleven o’clock by the time James was done with his homework. He stood up and kissed Lily on the cheek and went up to bed. When he got up to the dormitory he found Remus still up with his wand lit, poring over a piece of paper.
“Moony, what are you doing?” asked James coming over to stand next to Remus. Remus was muttering to himself.
“Hey Prongs. I’m just looking at what’s happening in the Slytherin common room.” said Remus looking up at him. James looked at the paper again and noticed that it was the Marauders Map. The map had been folded back so only the Slytherin common room could be seen. There was a big group there, the map showed their names but they were so close together the names got overlapped. There was at lease seven to ten of them there, they kept moving which made it almost impossible to count them.
“Probably talking about homework.” said James in an overly confident voice.
“I’ve been watching what some of them are saying, they are talking about Padfoot.” said Remus in a very serious tone. James shook his head in a thinking way.
“Ah, well, there is nothing we can do about it, we should go to sleep.” James finally said climbing into he own bed. “Night.”
“Night.” Remus murmured under his covers.
When James and Remus woke up they decided to tell Sirius what they saw on the map last night. He was not too concerned, but that could have been since he was half asleep. They quickly got dressed and down to breakfast.
“Hey, Wormtail, what’s up? I haven’t heard from you in a while.” Sirius suddenly said. Peter jumped about a mile and looked nervously at him. “Look, I’m sorry, I came on too strong the other day. I just didn’t even want to think about the idea that one of my friends would be like my family.”
“S-sorry, Padfoot.” Peter muttered looking down at the table. Sirius laughed his bark like laugh.
“Why are you sorry?”
“That you though that I would turn against you.” Peter said still looking down at the table. Sirius laughed again and clapped Peter on the shoulder which just made Peter jump again. They all ate their breakfast in silence until the girls showed up.
“Moony, you should ask Sarah out.” said James suddenly in a whisper as the girls sat down.
“What?” Remus asked incredulously, which was way too loud.
“What?” asked Sarah curiously. Sarah was sitting across from Remus.
“I-I was j-just wondering if y-you’d like to g-go out with me?” Remus said shakily. Sarah looked at him then smiled.
“Yes, I’d love to.” Sarah replied blushing a little. Remus smiled the biggest smile James had ever seen. Lily was sitting next to him and he gave her a kiss on the cheek. Lily smiled at James warmly and kissed him too. They finished their breakfast and headed off to class. The next few days passed like this. The Slytherins were trying to get James in detention, while not getting in any themselves. They still didn’t know that Remus had been at the meeting in the corridor that night. On Friday night James sat Lily down on his bed in his dorm.
“Okay Lily, I’m going to tell you something.” James started off. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing terribly bad.” James added when Lily gave him a look. He went on to explain what the Slytherins were planning on doing and about Bellatrix Black wanting to go out with him (he shivered at that part) and about the letters they had received. “But we still don’t know what Pa- Sirius has to do with any of this.” James finished an hour later. Lily sat there absorbing all of this new information.
“But why would Bellatrix Black want to go out with you?” James convulsed as she said that.
“I don’t know, but don’t worry, I have the love of my life.” James said.
“What? I thought I was the love of your life.” Lily said, mocking sadness. James laughed and sat down next to her.

Chapter 15: Camera
James and Sirius woke early on Saturday morning so that they could get some quidditch practice in. When they had been practicing for almost two hours the rest of the school was waking up. They headed into the Great Hall and saw the two Marauders and the girls sitting there.
“Where have you guys been?” Lily asked as she watched both of them yawn.
“Practicing.” James replied yawning again. He grabbed some food that was within reach and started eating.
“This early?” asked Remus. Sirius nodded then glared at James.
“Prongs decided we should.” Sirius answered shortly, still glaring at James. James returned the look with a raised eyebrow. He shrugged and went back to eating. When everyone was finished eating they all stood up and went their separate ways. James caught up to Lily and grabbed her hand.
“Want to come with me?” James asked politely.
“Sure.” answered Lily. They walked out onto the quidditch pitch. It was a cold day, but nice out just the same. James grabbed his broom and motioned for Lily to get on. Lily got on in back of James and put her arms around his waist. He kicked off of the ground and flew into the sky. He flew around Hogwarts’ towers.
“Ever seen a view like this?” James asked, which turned out to be almost yelling over the rushing of the wind.
“No.” Lily answered, clearly in awe. James flew them to the astronomy tower and landing there. They both got off and looked over the edge to the horizon. James felt this was the best thing in the world, he had Lily, and it was a nice day, cold as it was. Lily started to shiver so she moved closer to James and he put his arms around her, still looking out over the horizon.
Back in the common room Remus as Sarah sat in front of the fire. Finally Reus took a deep breath and started to talk.
“Sarah, there’s something you have to know about me,” he started, Sarah looked at him at little worried and a little confused. “You know how us Marauders go out once a month?” she nodded. “Well, I’m a werewolf and the other guys keep me company when I transform.” Remus said in a rush. Sarah looked at him for a while, processing what she heard. She smiled a weak smile, but an understanding one. She hugged him as though her very life depended on it, he hugged her back a little surprised, but grateful. “So, you still want to go out with me, even though I’m... dangerous?”
“Of course! Why wouldn’t I.” replied Sarah. “I just have one question, how can James, Sirius and Peter keep you company if you could bite them and they’d be werewolves?” Remus sighed but decided that the guys wouldn’t mind if he told her.
“They are animagus’, illegally, of course.” Remus said with a smile, James and Sirius would almost never do something that wasn’t illegal. Sarah’s jaw dropped and Remus put his finger under it and lifted her mouth closed.
“They are, really?”
“Yeah, but you can’t tell anyone, even the guys, they don’t know that I told you, but I’m sure they’d be fine about it.” said Remus.
In the corridor on the seventh floor, Sirius was pacing back and forth with Briana looking puzzled at him. When Sirius stopped pacing a door appeared, Briana gasped and Sirius laughed. He turned the handle and lead her inside the room. It was a garden, you couldn’t even tell you were in the castle, the roof turned to be like the Great Hall, there but not. There was a huge tree to one side and a stream that was flowing gently next to it. There were flowers of every kind surrounding the tree, and lining the dirt path that lead to it. Sirius held Briana’s hand and lead her to a spot under the tree. They started talking about anything and everything. Briana brought up Remus and where he went once a month a lot. Sirius was uncomfortable whenever she did but managed to blow it off as nothing. They sat there for the better part of the day.
“Sirius, this is so cool.” Briana said when they had been there for about five hours.
“Yeah,” Sirius said slowly as he looked around. “I was wondering,” he started in the same slow voice looking back at Briana. “I was wondering if you’d want to go out with me?” Sirius said looking down, embarrassed.
Briana had never seen Sirius get embarrassed before, and he has asked out a lot of girls. “Um...” Briana hesitated, Sirius got more nervous when he heard her hesitate. “You have broken a lot of girl’s hearts, I don’t want to be one of though’s girls.” Sirius’s heart sang faster then a speeding bullet.
“I... I would never do that to you.” Sirius said quietly.
“How do you know? You could just get bored with me after a while and dump me.” said Briana in a whisper.
“I would never do that!” exclaimed Sirius again, looking at her, he sighed. “I-I only did that to other girls because... because I didn’t love them.” Sirius said, quietly again. Briana looked a him astonished, Did he love her? “Please, I really like you, will you go out with me?” Sirius half pleaded.
“Okay.” Briana said smiling at Sirius. His face split into the biggest grin she had ever seen, he turned and hugged her deeply, she hugged him back. They spent the rest of the day talking. The sun started to go down in the room shortly after. The sun created a pretty pink glow and the last rays filtered through the branches of the trees. Sirius stood up and held out his hand for Briana to grab, she did and pulled herself up. When she got up she didn’t let go of his hand and they went back to the common room hand in hand.

Chapter 16: Action
James woke up the next morning with a plan. As he got dressed Sirius, Remus and Peter started to get up, Frank had left to get breakfast already. He told the other Marauders his plan. When they entered the Great Hall they noticed that the girls weren’t there yet, so they sat down and started eating and waited for them to come. When the girls finally showed up they were yawning and wiping the sleep from their eyes. James smiled up at Lily as she sat down next to him. She returned the smile when she started grabbing food.
“Morning.” Remus said brightly.
“Morning.” the girls mumbled back. Sirius and James laughed.
James looked up at the doors leading to the Great Hall and saw Regulus come in. His nose was glued in a book, he started to close it as he entered and James saw part of the title: Destroy. James looked puzzled but continued to eat. Shortly after Regulus had entered a group of Slytherins entered and sat down at the far table. James looked up and caught Remus, Sirius and Peter’s eye an nodded. All the boys got up and James kissed Lily on the cheek and they left. When they got to the second floor James tapped the mirror with his wand and the glass melted to reveal the hidden passageway they had found. Remus and Sirius followed James and Peter followed close behind them. They continued down the passageway until finally they reached the invisible entrance to the Slytherin common room. James scanned the room, he noticed a mirror on the wall and a fire crackling in the crate and all the chairs and sofas, no one was there, thankfully.
James pulled out his invisibility out of his bag and threw it over himself and Sirius. They crept into the common room and went to the left door off the common room. When the door was open there was no stairs like the boys in Gryffindor tower, but there was a long corridor. They followed it as it turned around a corner and saw a plate on the last door that said: Seventh Years. James grinned at Sirius who grinned his own evil grin back. They walked into the room and closed and locked the door. Once they pulled the cloak off they went over to every trunk and changed the color of all their muggle clothes to hot pink and puke green. They smiled and walked back to the hole in the wall they had come through. But once they got to the wall in the common room, they couldn’t see anything. They were stuck there. Just then Remus’ hand stuck out of thin air to show where the hole was. James grabbed Remus’ hand so that he wouldn’t smash into the wall. Once he was through Remus put his hand out again and Sirius came through.
Once they were in the corridor again they were howling with laughter. Peter was laughing but if they were paying attention they would know that it was hallow, with no laughter. They met up with their girls latter that day and sat around in the common room playing truth or dare.
“Okay James, your turn.” Sarah said. James looked around then pointed at Briana.
“Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Do you love Sirius?” James asked with a smile. Briana turned red and said something no one could hear. “What did you say?” asked James.
“Yes.” she said louder. Sirius turned and started at her with his mouth open. James was equally shocked and so, as far as James could see, was everyone else.
“Okay,” she said clearing her throat to take all the staring off of her. “Remus, truth or dare?”
“Dare.” Remus answered confidently.
“I dare you,” she paused and thought. “I dare you to snog Sarah.” Briana finally said. Remus started at her then at Sarah, Sarah shrugged her shoulders and Remus leaned in to kiss her. Ten minutes later Sirius and James were pulling Remus off of her saying that they were still playing the game.
“Okay,” Remus said wiping his red lips. “Peter, truth or dare?”
“Truth.” Peter replied nervously.
“Have you ever kissed a girl? Not a relative.” Remus added. Peter nodded his head slowly and turned red.
“Who?” Sirius asked looking at Peter.
“I already answered a question.” Peter replied.
“Alright.”
“James, truth or dare?” Peter finally asked.
“Dare.” James replied simply.
“I dare you to hug Lily.” Peter said looking at the floor.
“Okay.” James said slowly, a little disappointed at his simple dare. He turned to Lily and gave her a hug. James saw flash after flash of images. A baby in his hands, yelling at Lily to go, spells shooting everywhere, then one single green light, then darkness. James let go of Lily and looked into her eyes then looked at everyone else. His eyes flashed a brilliant green for a second as he thought about that single green light. Everyone looked at him shocked, they didn’t expect his eyes to change color like that.
“What?” asked James. “Sirius, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Do you love Briana back?” James smiled as he knew this was going to be easy but hard for Sirius to answer. This game, being played by wizards, was magical, you have to answer a truth truthfully and do any dare or something happens, but no one knows since they don’t want to take that chance.
“Yes.” Sirius said as he realized he couldn’t lie and wouldn’t either. Briana was shocked but very happy. Sirius and Briana started to snog and just with Remus, they both had to pull them off each other to get on with the game.
“Lily, truth or dare?” Sirius said regaining his breath.
“Truth.” replied Lily looking down at the floor.
“Have you ever liked Snape?” James looked up in disgust and horror as Lily’s face turned red. She nodded slowly.
“I only liked him for about a day,” she sighed. “He is just a loser, I hate him now.” James was pleased at these words. “Okay, Kat, truth or dare?”
“Dare.” she answered unsure.
“I dare you to go over to the window and stick your head out and yell that you love Peter.” Lily said smiling at her friend, she looked back shocked. But she stood up anyways and walked to the window and flung it open, with one last look at Lily she stuck her head out and looked at all the people in the court yard below. She opened her mouth.
“I LOVE PETER!” Kat bellowed at the top of her voice. When she stuck her head back in everyone was laughing except Peter who looked incredulously up at her. She sat down and looked at Sarah.
“Truth or dare?” she said in a confident voice, since they barley heard her speak, that was saying something.
“Truth.”
“Do you know where Remus goes once a month?” Sarah looked at her with big eyes then at Remus, he nodded.
“Yes.” James and Sirius whipped their heads around to stare at him, he shrunk back under their gaze but only shrugged his shoulders at them. Peter seemed rather unaffected.
“Okay, James, truth or dare?”
“Truth.” James ventured.
“Okay, do you love Lily? With all your heart?”
James turned and looked Lily straight in the eye and answered. “Yes.” Lily was shocked.
“Remus, truth or dare?” James asked not taking his eyes off Lily.
“Truth.” answered Remus, James looked at him.
“How much did you tell Sarah?” asked James, Sirius looked extremely interested in knowing that too.
Remus thought for a while not wanting anyone else to know but also having to answer the question. “Everything.” he finally concluded.
“Even about...” James trailed off nodding slightly at Peter and Sirius so that no one else would notice. Remus nodded slowly with an apologetic look on his face.
“Lily, truth or dare?” Remus said getting everyone’s attention again.
“Truth.”
“Do you love James as much as he loves you?” Remus asked with a smile at James. James thanked him with his eyes and Remus nodded in acknowledgment.
Lily seemed to be fighting a very fierce internal battle. Finally she looked up and said “Yes.” James looked at her and his eyes were filled with so much love they looked as if they would over flow.
“Sirius,” Lily said dreamily, still gazing into James’ love filled eyes.
“Yeah?” Sirius asked when Lily didn’t immediately answer.
“Truth or dare?” asked Lily in the same dreamy voice.
“Dare.” Sirius said.
“Tomorrow up have to walk around the whole school in your underwear, to all of your classes too.” replied Lily. James’ eyes changed, they still held love but they held something else, laughter. Finally James couldn’t help it and started howling with laughter and looked at Sirius. He was redder than James had every seen him. The rest of the day continued like this. After a while they started playing exploding snap. James asked Lily to come on a walk with him.
They were under the beech tree by the lake. It was beautiful, the lake was frozen over still and the tops of the trees in the Forbidden Forest still had snow on them. Lily and James both looked at each other and felt the same thing. They slowly moved closer together until their heads were only inches away. They moved closer still until they could feel each other’s breath. Their lips touched each others softly at first and then Lily started to deepen it. They stayed that way until Sirius, Remus and Sarah came out looking for them. They saw them and smiled at each other.

Chapter 17: Back again
The next week passed very slowly. The Professors were baffled as to who could have turned all the seventh year Slytherin boys’ clothes different colors when the painting outside the dormitory said no one came in. Sirius and James, along with the rest of the Gryffindor team, were outside every night, practicing. They were just perfecting some of their moves during practice now since they got all the regular moves down. Sirius was practicing a particularly hard move and James was watching him and criticizing him on his mistakes. Since Sirius was chaser he was trying to jump off his broom leap over a person in front of him, grab the quaffle and land on his broom again.
“You need to go higher, I would be the person in front of you but I don’t want to get killed.” James shouted over the roar of the wind.
“Come on Prongs, I need a real person to see if I’m high enough.” Sirius shouted back. James sighed but decided to risk his life. He speed over to where Sirius was and got in position, Sirius backed up and zoomed toward him. Sirius jumped off his broom which went under James and Sirius leaped over James and grabbed at an invisible quaffle and landed on his broom on the other side of James. Both of the boys heard clapping, very distant clapping as the rain started to slam into them. They looking down and saw Kat, Peter, Lily, Remus, Sarah and Briana all there clapping as hard as they could. Sirius and James turned and grinned at each other then dived down towards them. They pulled out of the dive sharply and turned to face them making most of them gasp.
“Hey.” James said.
“Hi.” they answered back.
“That was awesome Sirius.” Briana and Lily said at the same time.
“So, you actually got that move down?” asked Remus looking amused.
“Yeah, finally he did.” answered James who had to use his seeker reflexes to avoid Sirius’ arm.
“What are you all doing here?” asked Sirius who turned back to face them.
“We can to watch you guys practice.” answered Lily looking at James.
“Okay.” Sirius answered watching Lily get onto the front of James broom and they both speed off at neck breaking speed. Everyone could hear Lily screaming even over the pound of the rain which had all of them soaked to the bone.
They were going even faster. The rain hitting them so hard in the face it was like bullets were hitting them. The roar of the wind was screaming in their ears as they climbed higher and higher. Once again they were on top of the Astronomy tower looking out over the Forbidden Forest, the Great lake and the town of Hogsmead. Lily got off the broom and James quickly followed. They sat down and started kissing and enjoying each others company.
“I was wrong about you James Potter.” Lily said after a while.
“Oh, and what might that be?” James asked with his eyebrows raised.
“You aren’t that bad.” smirked Lily as she leaned in to kiss him again.
“Well,” said James when they broke apart. “You aren’t that bad yourself.” They stood up laughing a little later and got back on the broom and flew down to the Gryffindor boys window. James was looking at every window as it flashed passed and finally saw Sirius and Remus in one of them. He stopped and banged on the window. They both jumped about a mile but opened the window anyways.
“What are you guys doing?” Remus asked suspiciously.
“Nothing, too far to walk back here from the Astronomy tower and too far to walk from the Great Hall.” James answered after crawling into the room behind Lily. Remus shrugged and headed back to his bed. James walked Lily back into the common room and kissed her, then went back upstairs. James was ecstatic that he had kissed Lily just the other day, it had felt so good, like a million fireworks all going off at once in his head. When he opened the door to the boys dorm again he saw Sirius and Remus wrestling.
“Whoa, what’s going on?” James asked as he broke them apart.
“Moony was planning what to do next.” said Sirius standing up smiling. “Nothing really, just our attack on the Slytherins’. Only friendly wrestling, like the kind that we get into, you know the first week of school?” James looked back on how they told that lie that Sirius and him had been wrestling. James shook his head at his friends.
“So, what were you planning Moony?” Remus looked back at the map and studied it for a while then turned back to them grinning.
They were all at the Potter house, Sirius, Remus, Lily, Briana, Sarah, Kat, Peter and James himself. They were sitting and talking but all of them looked different, they looked older. Sirius’ hair was longer and Remus’ whole body looked more tired then ever but he was smiling. James looked over at Lily and saw that her hair had gotten darker but still was brilliant red, and her eyes looked a little less green. James was talking without really realizing it.
“Sirius, I want you to be the godfather.” he was saying, he looked down at his arms and saw a little baby.
“Okay.” Sirius answered. A glow came from Sirius as he said this then went away, it was a pleasant glow.
“Remus, I want you to take over if anything were to happen to Lily, me or Sirius.” James said looking at Remus. Remus nodded and that glow came over him but went away quickly.
James woke up and looked at his watch, it read; 6:45 in the morning. James stood up and woke Remus up. He mumbled something but turned over and looked at James’ worried and anxious face.
“What’s wrong Prongs?” asked Remus as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. James sat down and started to tell about all of his dreams that he had.
“I don’t know if they are real or not.” finished James some time later. Remus was looking thoughtful.
“I’m not sure.” Remus answered slowly. “It could come true, you could be seeing what really will come in the future.” Remus said looking at James. James sighed as Sirius started to get up. He looked down at his watch again as saw that is was 7:40. He stood up and started to get dressed for the day of lessons with the other boys in his dorm. The next few days flew by with quidditch practice and homework. Soon it was Saturday and the second quidditch match, Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw. James had been following the other house matches since the season began before Christmas. Sirius and James walked onto the field and then into the changing room where James told Sirius about his dreams. When he was done the rest of the team started to file in and get changed and took no notice of James or Sirius. Sirius was wide eyed at the last dream since James had made him godfather.
“It could be true, Prongs.” Sirius said as they headed out onto the quidditch pitch. The roar of the crowd blocked out the roar of the wind for a second. James and Brook, the Ravenclaw captain, shook hands and then mounted their brooms. The shrill blast of the whistle cut out the wind again and everyone took off.
James immediately had to duck a bludger that was sent his way. James couldn’t even hear the commentator over the wind which was trying to knock the players off the brooms just as much as the bludgers were. James was twenty feet above the rest of the game and looking down trying to make out which players were which. James dropped a two feet as another bludger was sent his way. A second later Sirius raced pasted him with a look of determination on his face as he chased the bludger. James dropped another couple of feet and headed around the pitch looking for the snitch. He got up to his keeper, Bert Crosshangle, and yelled over to him. Since everyone was at the other end of the pitch it wasn’t a problem.
“What’s the score?” yelled James coming close to Bert’s ear.
“10-30 to Ravenclaw.” Bert screamed back. James sped off and around the pitch. He saw the Ravenclaw seeker, Julia Berniview, following him. He dived. He heard whistling behind him and smiled.
BANG! Something collided painfully hard into James’ left leg. His world was narrowing and stars appeared in what little sight he had. The stars started to fade but the pain was unbearable. The ground was almost upon him when he pulled out of the dive and headed back for the sky. He looked down to see if his fake out had worked and it had, barely. Julia had rolled over a bunch of time but eventually got up and got back on her broom and was once again in the sky.
James dived for the second time. It was a short dive but he accelerated very fast. He had seen the snitch. He was within inches of it. His hand closed around the speeding ball just as another one came at him. James was in so much pain he didn’t even realize another bludger was thrown his way until it collided with him.
BANG! James feel into darkness, twenty feet above the ground.

Chapter 18: Not dead and dead
“He’s dead, he’s dead, he’s dead...” a voice was saying. James opened his eyes and groaned in pain. Something at simple as that was excruciating.
“James?” asked the same voice followed by many others. James opened his eyes and ignored the pain. Lily was standing next to him holding his hand tightly in hers. His leg was wrapped up from knee to ankle.
“What happened?” James asked thickly.
“Stupid beater from Ravenclaw, couldn’t see who it was, knocked you on the head with a bludger after you caught the snitch.” replied Sirius standing beside Lily. James groaned again.
“What now? Can I go?” asked James wearily.
“No, Potter, you can’t.” Madam Pomphrey said calmly and checked James out. “Well your leg should heal tomorrow, it was broken. As for your head, I’m surprised you remembered anything, I wasn’t sure if the potions were going to be able to do anything. So you’ll have to stay here over night,” James groaned. “You can leave first thing in the morning.” Madam Pomphrey said over him. She walked away and James looked at the rest of the people around his bed.
“What time is it?” asked James.
“It’s about eight.” Remus said cocking his head to the side to read James watch.
“Did we win?” he asked hopefully.
“Yeah, since you did catch the snitch. I mean when you landed on the ground, mind you we slowed your fall, the snitch managed to get away. But everyone knew you’d caught it.” said Sirius.
James sighed and groaned at the same time. “Who was saying ‘he’s dead, he’s dead’?” questioned James trying and failing to sit up.
Lily mumbled something incoherent.
“What was that?” asked James mockingly.
“I was, I was scared I lost you.” Lily replied with tears in her eyes.
“We tried to calm her down saying that you were breathing and everything, but she was just standing here shaking.” Remus muttered looking at Lily. She was still rocking a little on her feet. She now had tears running down her face and her thumb was rubbing the back of his hand gently.
“Lily,” James said quietly and calmly. “I’m fine, stop worrying.”
“James, you could have died, if they hadn’t slowed you down you would be... dead.” she chocked out the last word and turned suddenly and flung her arms around Sirius and then ran around the bed and did the same to Remus. Sirius was a little shocked at her outburst like that.
“What was that for?” Sirius asked slowly.
“For saving him.” Lily said as though it was obvious. Remus wasn’t as shocked as Sirius since he was second, but he was a little wide eyed.
“Thanks, guys.” James said quietly.
“What, were we just going to let you fall?” Remus asked amused.
“Yeah, it was no big deal. You would have, and do, that for us.” Sirius said nodding at Remus when he said ‘and do’.
“Yeah James, I should be saying thanks to you.” Remus said looking down.
“You do, too much, along with the phrases ‘I’m sorry’, ‘I’m really sorry’, ‘This is all my fault’...” James said.
“Alright, I get it.” Remus said looking up smiling. Lily looked confused as they were saying this.
“What are you guys talking about?” Lily asked.
James and Sirius looked wide eyed at Remus as if saying sorry but Remus just sighed. “You know that I’m a werewolf.” Remus began and, again, James and Sirius were shocked that Lily nodded. “Well, James, Sirius and Peter are...” Remus looked at them.
“Animagi.” James finished. Lily gasped.
“Right, so once a month they meet me at the Whomping Willow and help me. They are a big help.” Remus said to reassure himself as much as Lily that what they were doing was right.
“What animal do you turn into James?” Lily asked after a moment.
“Now, that’ll ruin the surprise.” said James. Remus and Sirius just looked at him and James smiled back wickedly.
“Okay, I think you all should go and let Mr. Potter get his rest.” Madam Pomphrey said, coming up behind them with a glass of liquid.
“Night.” James said to them.
“Night.” they called back and Lily leaned over and kissed him gently then caught up with the guys. James took the offered glass and downed it in one go. He felt very sleepy and then, he was asleep.
He woke up the next morning to see Lily, Sirius, Remus, Briana and Sarah all sitting there. “Whattimeisit?” he mumbled.
“Sorry?” Remus asked.
“What, time, is, it?” James said taking slow breathes in between each word.
“Almost eight.” Lily said. James sighed and sat up, it was much easier, he had a dull headache, but that was it.
“Ah, good, your up.” Madam Pomphrey said. “You should be able to go soon.” she handed him a glass and he took it. The headache went away and the dull ache in his leg went away too. Madam Pomphrey pointed her wand at his leg and the bandages came off. James’ leg looked completely normal. He swung himself off the edge of the bed and stood up hesitantly, Sirius and Remus on either side in case he feel. He stood up and walked around a bit. His head felt heavy and he pressed his palms to his forehead. Instead of touching skin, he touched bandages. Thick bandages.
“Oh, here dear.” said Madam Pomphrey coming around and tapping his head with her wand. The bandages vanished as did the weight.
“Can I go now?” asked James.
“I suppose.” Madam Pomphrey sighed as James wrapped his arm around Lily’s waist and walked out of the hospital wing and off to breakfast. Since it was Sunday, and they had no classes, the Marauders and the girls all went outside. Peter and Kat sat really close to each other and Sirius and James exchanged looks. James sat down with Lily between his legs and resting against his chest reading the Daily Prophet. Sirius, Briana, Remus and Sarah all sat down also and they just spent the rest of the day outside. Lily read to them about certain things that happened.
Suddenly Lily gasped so loud that James jumped, for he was almost asleep. Lily tapped the paper pointing at an article. “Look at this, ‘The Dark Mark, or You-Know-Who’s mark, was seen above a muggle house in Little Hangleton. The big mansion on the hill was opened, and You-Know-Who himself went in and killed three muggles. Why he would want to kill someone he has no relation to, know one knows.’ Look at that, Voldemort is just killing mugg-” Lily stopped suddenly and went deathly white.
“Lily? Lily?!” James asked shocked and scared by Lily.
“Oh, my, god.” Lily said slowly and deliberately. “He just kills random muggles. He could kill my parents. He tried to kill me!” Lily was still ghost white. James was scared by what Lily said.
“What do you mean he ‘tried to kill you’?” asked James.
“Remember,” Lily said still talking slowly. “In the corridor, when I was almost passed out because I got poisoned. I saw a pair of red snakelike eyes. That is exactly how Voldemort was described.” Peter had flinched so bad when Lily said Voldemort’s name that everyone looked at him. He turned bright red and looked down muttering about something.
“Lily, don’t worry, everything will be fine.” James said so calmly that he surprised himself. Lily did seem to be calmer now though. She leaned back against James again and close her eyes. With her eyes shut James shared a worried look with Remus and Sirius before leaning against the tree behind him.

Chapter 19: Dare
“Sirius.” Lily said when they were in the common room about to go down to breakfast.
“Yeah?” he asked standing up and looking at her. He didn’t like the look that she had on her face, it was wicked. Lily shook her head then hit herself in the head with her fist. Sirius just looked at her. “Yeah?” he asked again.
“I totally forgot, how could I forget.” Lily muttered.
“What?” asked Sirius looking really confused.
“Go up to your dorm and come back down in your underwear.” Lily said.
“What?” Sirius and James asked at the same time.
“You heard me.” answered Lily.
“Why?” asked Sirius.
“Because I just remembered what I asked you to do for your dare.” answered Lily with the wicked look clearly in her eyes. Sirius’ eyes got wide with shook, then he sighed and went up stairs. Remus came down a moment after with a disgusted look in his eyes.
“You could have at least told me.” Remus accused Lily, she just shrugged. Remus shook his head as Sirius came back down in nothing but his boxers.
“Ready?” asked Sirius cheerfully. He grabbed Briana around the waist and walked confidently out of the portrait hole. James shook his head in an attempt not to break down and laugh. Remus looked like he was on the verge of tears from holding in his laughter. James and Remus made the mistake of looking at each other, as they sat down at the Gryffindor table, and burst into hysterical laughter. All the girls that Briana and Sirius had passed were shooting daggers at Briana. She just smiled and tried not to laugh either, but as soon as James and Remus burst out she couldn’t help it and joined in.
“This is going to be a long day.” Sirius said in a cheerful voice. They walked into Transfiguration shortly afterward and were turning each other into animals. Sirius paired up with Peter and because Peter was so bad and McGonagall was coming closer Sirius transformed into a big black dog.
“Very good, excellent work Mr. Petegrew. 20 points for Gryffindor.” Professor McGonagall said obviously impressed her worst student could do it. Peter waved his wand and Sirius was back. James paired up with Lily who couldn’t get it.
“Can’t you just do what Sirius did?” she hissed at him.
“Nope, sorry.” James answered cheerfully. Lily tapped James’ head and nothing happened. It was a good thing McGonagall was on the other side of the room. James tapped his wand to Lily’s head and she turned into a cat.
“Very good Mr. Potter.” McGonagall said, suddenly appearing. James picked up the cat/Lily and started petting her head he kissed the cats head and put her back on the floor and tapped her head with his wand again, and Lily was back. McGonagall had moved on.
“Oh Lillian,” James said dramatically. “I missed you so very much.” and he dropped into her arms and gave her a hug. Sirius let out his bark like laugh and Lily laughed too as James stood up. McGonagall came back around and Sirius was transforming Peter.
“Mr. Black, do you have an explanation for your wardrobe?” asked McGonagall sternly. Sirius tapped Peter on the head and transformed him into a otter. This seem to distract her. “Oh, very good.” and she moved on, James grinned at him and he grinned back.
Their next class was Defense Against the Dark Arts. Sirius and James were at the back of the class.
“Okay, today we are going to be practicing dueling. I want everyone to get up and make a circle.” Professor Daughtry said and as soon as everyone was up he swept the room with his wand and all the tables and chairs and backpacks disappeared. “Don’t worry,” he said as people started talking about their bags. “You’ll get your bags after class, all you need is your wand. Now pair up, everyone except Mr. Potter, could you come here.” James nodded and walked up to him. “Everyone,” he addressed the class. “Mr. Potter and I are going to duel just so that way you all know exactly how it’s done.” in a quieter tone as the class formed a large circle around the two. “Shot any curse at me, just not Unforgivables.”
Stupify James thought and a red jet came out of his wand blocked easily by Daughtry who sent one himself. James blocked his spell and sent two almost at the same time at him. He managed to block the first one and he sidestepped the second one. They were going all out now, James couldn’t move his left arm, it was like it was frozen in time, and Professor Daughtry couldn’t see out of one eye. James just dodged another stunner and sent a disarming one himself. Daughtry sent three spells at once, James managed to block the first one sidestep the second one and had to flatten himself against the ground to avoid the third one. James sent a stunner just as Daughtry sent one, the two spells hit each other in mid air and small fireworks came out. James took the moment and sent another stunner at Professor Daughtry. It hit him square in the chest and James walked over to him and reawaken him.
“Very good Mr. Potter, you will be an exceptionally powerful wizard in your day.” Daughtry said and told the class to go back into pairs. James and Sirius started dueling until Professor Daughtry came and asked Sirius what happened to his wardrobe, he was spared from answering when a real fight started to erupt from the other end of the class.
The Marauders, Lily, Briana, Kat and Sarah all headed down to lunch afterward and everyone started to laugh again. All the girls glaring at Briana and giving loving faces at Sirius who didn’t seem to notice. After lunch they had a free period which they used to finish their homework. After that they had potions.
“Welcome class,” Professor Slughorn started off. “Today you will be making the Blood Replenishing Potion. You may begin.” James was sitting with Snape and Snape ran off to get the ingredients they needed. As he passed he gave a look that cleared said ‘Don’t touch anything.’ which James was perfectly fine doing. He leaned his chair back onto it’s back legs and watched Lily a few rows in front of him, man how he loved her. Snape came back and set to work. Every time Slughorn would come around James would pretend to do something. Finally the end of the lesson was here and everyone ran out of the class. The end of the day.
“Well,” Lily said, they were walking toward Gryffindor tower and James had his arm around her shoulders. “You did the dare.” Lily said looking at Sirius who was smiling from ear to ear and had his arm wrapped securely around Briana’s waist. “Congrates.”
“Thanks Lily.” Sirius said as they climbed into the common room.

Chapter 20: The mirror
James couldn’t sleep that night. He was worried about Lily and worried for Remus. Remus had been a little mischievous. Everything will be fine in the morning James thought and, finally, dropped off to sleep.
CLUNK! James sat up and rubbed his back where a shoe had just hit him.
“What was that for?” he exclaimed. Remus slapped a hand over his mouth and put a finger to his lips to tell him to be quiet. James looked out the window and saw that it was still dark. His groan was muffled by Remus’ hand.
“Come here, and be quiet, we don’t want anyone else waking up.” Remus whispered and walked back over to his bed. James followed him and sat down against one of the four posts. “Look at this, I was trying to figure out how you were getting dreams like this. Since I just had a dream the night before last night about something that has never happened but looked like it will happen, I looked it up.” Remus tapped the book in front of him. “I have yet to figure it out officially, but I’m getting close.”
“If your getting close but don’t have the answer yet, why did you wake me up?” asked James yawning a hugely.
“Because I wanted you to know that I was even looking it up. In case another shoe hits you, you will know who it is and not yell.” Remus answered.
“Moony,” James started.
“Hmm?” Remus answered looking at the book.
“What did you dream?”
Remus looked up at him and sighed. “I had a dream I was talking to this kid that looked exactly like you, only he had Lily’s eyes. I was telling him that actually. We were in a classroom and he called me ‘Professor’.” Remus said. James snorted. Remus looked at him.
“What, it’s just I can imagine you being a professor, unfortunately.” James said.
“Anyway, we were talking about you guys, you and Lily, as if you guys were dead. It seemed so real.” Remus ended looking distant. James was stunned that Remus had dreamed that they were dead but wasn’t surprised about the kid. “Anyway, go back to bed.” James stood up and headed over to his bed and was instantly asleep.
I was looking over a lake, in fact it was the lake at Hogwarts. I saw a boy around 13 and a girl around the same age. The boy looked exactly like me and the girl had bushy brown hair. They were both fighting dementors, a hundred of them. On the ground next to them was none other than, Sirius. He looked dead. I felt empty with shock, I couldn’t believe my best friend was dead. It was as if his stomach had dropped to the ground and he was hollow. The dementors were swooping closer and closer the girl had passed out and now only the boy was standing up and fighting. I whipped out my wand and thought Expecto Patronum A silver stag exploded out of the end of my wand and charged at the dementors. It was so powerful, since I was so far away, that all the dementors were gone in a matter of seconds. I watched as Snape came and conjured up three stretchers and placed each person on one. James looked at Sirius and saw that he wasn’t dead. Relief like he had never felt filled him. He took a step but couldn’t. I tried and tried again but couldn’t move. Finally one of my feet broke free and was going to chase down Snape-.
CLUNK! Not another shoe, James thought as he woke with a start. This time sun was pouring into the room and Sirius had thrown the shoe.
“Get up Prongs.” Sirius said which woke everyone else in the dormitory up. James stood up and walked over to Remus and told him about his dream. Remus looked like he was thinking very hard but shook his head and started to get dressed. James turned around and got changed too. The Marauders were in the Great Hall in five minutes. They had started on breakfast when the girls came. Kat sat next to Peter and Peter whispered something to her and she nodded her head vigorously. Lily sat next to James who gave her a kiss and continued eating. Once they were all done the headed off to their first class. After that they had a break and Remus went to the library and Sirius, James and Peter went to the common room with the girls.
“Wormtail,” James whispered. “What did you ask Kat at breakfast?”
“I asked her if she would go out with me and she said yes.” Peter replied going red. James patted him on the back on headed over to Lily. He had just pulled his homework out when Remus appeared, he looked like he ran many miles.
“What’s wrong?” Lily asked Remus, he just shook his head and sat down next to Sarah. Soon their break was over and they all headed for their next class. At every break Remus would run off to the library and be just in time for class. Soon it was the end of the day and James pulled Remus aside.
“Okay, seriously, what are you doing?” James asked concerned for his friend.
“James, I think I found it, I just can’t reverse the side effects, like the dreams.” Remus said.
“What is it? Where is it?” James asked eagerly.
“It’s in the Slytherin common room and it’s a mirror.” Remus said. James thought back to the common room and the mirror hanging on the wall. It wasn’t anything special, it had something carved on it but he was too far away from it at the time to see it clearly.
“Well at least we know what it is.” said James excitedly. “So what exactly does it do?”
“Well if you look at it, it should show your future in the form of dreams so you won’t think there real.” answered Remus.
So this mirror, that was hanging in the Slytherin common room that if you looked at it you would see your future, is what was causing all this. Great, just great.
“I’m working out how to reverse it.” Remus continued as they headed up the steps to the common room. They walked into the common room and started up their dormitory. As they walked inside their room they were shocked by what they saw.

Chapter 21: Unbelieved truth
James just stared as his best friend and his girlfriend looked up at James.
“James, believe me, she came at me.” Sirius said looking horror struck. Remus looked between Sirius, Lily and James. He was almost waiting for James to pull his wand on either Sirius or Lily but it didn’t happen, what did happen was much, much worse. James looked like he was on the verge of tears from seeing Sirius and Lily snog. Remus shot both Lily and Sirius looks of pure disgust before take James out of the room. They walked out to the lake. James was barely aware of even moving that far he couldn’t believe Lily or even Sirius for that matter, would do that to him.
“Forget about it James.” Remus said soothingly.
“Remus,” James said weakly. “She was worried that I would cheat on her.” he put his head in his hands.
Remus didn’t have an answer to that but just said over and over, calmly. “Forget about it.” Soon it got dark and they had to go back to the dormitory. James had way too much time to think over things. That image, that one still picture, was flashing over and over again. Him walking into the room and seeing Lily on top of Sirius. That is why he believes Sirius when he said that she came onto him. He pushed her off of him as soon as they had gotten into the room, but he didn’t even notice anyone was there. They pushed open the dormitory door where Lily and Sirius were again, this time not snogging, but the complete opposite, fighting.
“What the hell were you thinking coming onto me like that?” Sirius yelled furiously, he had his back to them.
“I was thinking that I love you.” Lily said not even angry, dreamy.
“Why do you love me?! Your going out with James!” yelled Sirius getting more and more frustrated that Lily was acting like this, she wasn’t being herself.
“Yeah, I’m going out with James, but I want you!” Lily almost screamed with delight and jumped at Sirius. She bowled him over and landed on her back with her feet inches away from James’. She looked up at him then shrugged and got up. Sirius was crouched over from having the wind knocked out of him. Sirius looked up and noticed James and Remus standing there and quickly got to his feet again. Sirius whipped out his wand and for a terrible second Remus thought that Sirius was going to send a curse at James but instead he sent a stunner at Lily. Her body slumped to the floor again. Sirius levitated her down the stairs to Briana and explain what happened. Surprisingly, Briana didn’t slap him, instead turned to Lily and took her body up the stairs where she woke her up and started to have a yelling match with her that the guys could hear from in the common room.
Sirius looked at James as they reentered the dormitory and saw nothing but misery sketched on every line of James’ face.
“James, I’m sorry, I didn’t know that she would act that way. Actually, she doesn’t seem to be acting herself at all. In everything, she seems out of it, it’s like-” but what it’s like, they never found out.
“SIRIUS!” Sarah shouted up the stairs. Sirius, James and Remus ran out the door and to the common room.
“What? What is it?” asked Sirius as soon as he entered the room seeing Lily unconscious.
“Were taking her to Slughorn.” Briana said and the six of them headed down to the dungeons.
“Why are we going there?” James asked
“Because we think that she has taken a love potion, a love potion a little too powerful.” Briana said.
“That’s what I was going to tell you guys before we were called down.” Sirius said. James hadn’t said anything in over four hours and Sirius and Remus were getting worried. Once they knocked and opened the door, the potions master set to work.
“James,” Sirius said pulling him out of ear shot from everyone. “Are you okay?” he asked with genuine concern. James looked up at him and Sirius almost flinched at how hollow James’ eyes had gotten. He nodded then looked back down at the ground.
They moved Lily to the hospital wing because she was unconscious. Whoever had given her the love potion had over dosed it.
I can't believe I didn't say this sooner
I'll just believe that I was all displaced
I'll get to speaking let you know how I feel
I'll get to judging make you see my appeal
Sirius and Remus were on either side of James. He just looked at Lily with empty eyes.
No one will ever see things the way I do
No one will try
All my friends think that I'm gone but I swear...
I swear I'm not
I swear I'm not!
Remus and Sirius exchanged looks of concern behind James’ back, then looked at Lily.
This makes me feel that I'll never be quite normal
This makes me act like I'll never get out alive
I'll get to acting make you all believe me
I'll get to effing show you all how to grieve
Who would do this? Who could be so mean? James thought You know one person, Voldemort. Countered a second voice. What does Voldemort want from Lily anyways?
No one will ever see things the way I do
No one will try
All my friends think that I'm gone but I swear...
I swear I'm not
I swear I'm not!
“James, are you alright?” Remus asked. James looked away from Lily and shook his head putting them in his hands.
In and out is where it gets back to the place it does
Makes me feel like I just want to feel just like it touch
James could sense the Remus and Sirius were figuring out what to do, they really couldn’t do anything.
No one will ever see things the way I do No one will try
All your friends say that your gone but you swear...
I swear I'm not
I have to make Voldemort pay! Said a sly voice in his head. He is an evil wizard, you can’t just pull a prank on him, he is way too smart for that.
No one will ever see things the way I do
No one will try
All my friends think that I'm gone but I swear...
I swear I'm not
I swear I'm not!

Chapter 22: Awake or NotJames didn’t leave the hospital wing until Madam Pomphrey levitated him out onto the hallway. He made his way up to his dorm and opened the door to see Remus, Sirius and Peter talking. As soon as he walked in they stopped but he payed no attention to it. He climbed into bed, fully clothed and dropped off to sleep.
“What can we do for him?” Sirius asked as soon as he knew James was asleep.
“I don’t know, Lily will get better by tomorrow and James knows it’s love potion that made Lily act that way then he should forgive her.” Remus answered.
“Madam Pomphrey told us that Lily might not wake up soon, she says it might kill her, but she doubts that.” Sirius whispered.
Remus sighed pulling a hand through his hair. “There’s nothing we can do now, will see in the morning.” and Remus climbed into his own bed and was asleep within minutes. Sirius did the same. Peter was still up and was worried if his made the right choice. Finally he shook himself and went to bed.
James woke up and quickly showered then got changed and headed for the hospital wing. It was six o’clock when he was let in to see Lily. He sat down by her side and held her hand, stroking it softly. At around eight o’clock James was joined by Sirius, Remus, Peter, Sarah, Briana and Kat. They all sat around Lily’s bed until the bell rang that signaled for them to get to class.
“Prongs, are you going to be okay?” asked Remus slowly. James sighed. It was the end of the day and Remus had been asking him the same question over and over again.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” was James’ standard answer. He and Remus went off to the hospital wing where Lily was still unconscious. Sirius was there and jumped up and moved about ten feet away from Lily’s bed when he noticed James was there.
“I’m sorry James.” he said nervously, which was a first.
“I believe you, it’s not your fault.” James said and sat down on a chair next to Lily. “Wake up Lily, wake up, I need to see your smile.” whispered James pleadingly. Remus and Sirius came up behind him and clapped their hands on his shoulders.
“It’ll be fine, James.” Remus said with a smile.
“I know.” answered James looking at Lily’s peaceful face. “I know.” James stayed there with Remus and Sirius. Soon they were joined by Kat, Briana and Sarah. Peter shambled in a little later. The girls left when Madam Pomphrey told them too. A little later she asked the Marauders to leave and they did. James sat on his bed in the dorm and as soon as he was sure his friends were asleep, he grabbed his invisibility cloak and half walked half ran to the hospital wing.
“Alohamora.” James whispered and the doors creaked open. James ran into the room and sat beside Lily. He grabbed the cloak and whipped it off his head then grabbed Lily’s hand and started to stroke it softly.
* * * *
“Bellatrix Black.” said a cold voice from the fireplace. Bellatrix jumped from her seat. She had fallen asleep waiting for her master to come.
“Yes, master?” she said as she bent down to her knees.
“You have failed me.” he said calmly yet coldly. “You didn’t break the Potter boys’ heart, his weakness.”
“I’m sorry, master. I tried but Black pushed her off, and I must have over dosed her because she passed out and they took her to the hospital and Madam Pomphrey told them she had Love Potion.” Bellatrix answered in one breath.
“Alright, since you failed miserably at my last plan,” Voldemort shot Bellatrix a cold glare. “I have a new task for you.”
“Oh, thank you, master, thank you.” Bellatrix said bowing from her kneeling position.
“Now, Bellatrix, this is what I want you to do...”
* * * *
James woke up to see six faces staring back at him. He jumped off the floor. He realized that he had slept out in the corridor, only the last thing he was doing was looking at Lily. He looked at the doors in front of him and realized that Madam Pomphrey put him outside.
“What are you doing out here? When we saw you, you were in your bed, then we wake up and your not there and we find you way over here?” Remus asked.
“I pretended to be asleep and then grabbed my cloak and came down here. Madam Pomphrey must have put me out here when I fell asleep in there.” James answered looking at his watch, it was seven o’clock in the morning.
“James,” Sarah said in a small voice, James turned to look at her. “Lily still hasn’t woken up.” James’ heart sank fast a speeding bullet.
“She hasn’t?” he asked faintly. Sarah shook her head sadly. James headed off to the Gryffindor common room. Remus, Sirius and Peter met up with him and they all just walked in silence. They reached the portrait hole and climbed in, James headed up the boys staircase and fell onto his bed.
“No, I’ll go.” Remus said fiercely. Sirius shook his head but motioned with his head to go up to James. Remus entered the dorm and saw James lying on his back and staring up at the ceiling. “James? Prongs?” Remus asked tentatively. James turned and looked at him with eyes filled with misery. Remus came over and sat at the edge of his bed and stared right at James, his eyes boring into James’. “Prongs, it’ll be fine.” he reassured his best friend. James swung his legs over his bed and sat up next to Remus and put his head in his hands.
“Moony, what if it’s not? Madam Pomphrey said that she had such a major overdose that she might not wake up.” he said his voice cracking. Remus stood up and looked long and hard at his sad friend. Finally he grabbed his shoulder and lifted James up, he grabbed their bags and handed James his. Then he steered James, by his shoulder, down the stairs and into the common room. Sirius and Peter stopped their conversation and looked up at them, they both immediately stood up and followed Remus and James down to breakfast.
“Guys, I’m not hungry.” James said over and over again the whole way there.
“Fine, then watch us eat.” Sirius said his stomach growling loudly. They entered the hall before James could say anything and they sat down with the girls. Remus, Sirius and Peter immediately started to dig in and James just pushed his eggs around his plate, once and a while lifting his fork to his mouth and eating a little.
“What can we do for him?” Sarah asked Remus. He shrugged looking over at his friend.
“If Lily doesn’t wake up, he might do something really stupid.” Remus said worriedly.
“What if she does wake up, but not soon, would he do something stupid before she has a chance to wake up?” Sarah asked. Remus turned and looked at her and slowly nodded his head, Sarah put her hand to her mouth and looked over at James who was still pushing his food around his plate. A similar conversation was going on between Kat and Peter.
“Peter,” Kat said swallowing her food. “Who do you think did that to Lily?” Peter got nervous, he did know who but he couldn’t say anything.
“I’m not sure, who ever it is, didn’t think it through.” Peter said. Kat looked at him quizzically.
“What do you mean? Wouldn’t the person that did this not want Lily to wake up?” Peter thought about this and got scared, what if that was the plan and no one told him.
“I dunno, probably.” he recovered. He turned back to his food and started eating again.
“Sirius, you have to talk to him, you’ve known him longer than anyone else.” Briana urged. It was true, Sirius had known James the longest, they were friends before they went to Hogwarts. He got sick of his family and looked up a wizard family near his, Potter’s came up and he went over there. They had been friends since they were nine. Sirius glanced at Remus who nodded, to James who looked, if possible, even more miserable.
“Yeah,” he sighed. “I know.” He stood up and walked over to James who was all by himself, choosing to be alone.
“Hey.” Sirius said quietly.
“Hey.” James answered back.
“It’ll be okay, just hang in there, you’re not the only one that wanted to see Lily wake up.” Sirius said kindly but aggressively. James sighed and looked up from his plate.
“I know, I’m sorry, its just I love her and I can’t take the fact that I might never talk to her again.” James said dropped his gaze back to the table.
“JAMES!!” a voice screamed from the door.

Chapter 23: The taskJames looked up and towards the door and leaped up and ran the length of the hall when he realized who it was; Lily. He ran up to her and swept her up off the floor and swung her around, hugging her. He set her back down on her feet and kissed her in front of the whole school and the staff. Someone cleared their throat right behind them and they both looked up to see Dumbledore looking down at them, smiling. James and Lily both blushed and walked back to Gryffindor table. When the got back all of Lily’s friends hugged her and she sat down next to James.
“Lily, you should have waken up sooner, James here, was about to jump out of a window.” Sirius said jokingly. Lily looked at James and he just smiled back at her and kissed her on her cheek. Breakfast ended and they all headed off to class. James didn’t take Lily out of his sight. He wasn’t going to let anything else happen to her. They were finally done with the school day and James and Sirius had grabbed their brooms and were on the quidditch pitch.
Three hours later James had perfected his ‘secret weapon’ trick. They just landed when Lily and Briana ran up to them. Lily flung her arms around James neck and kissed him, Briana did the same to Sirius, only less vigorously. James and Lily walked back up to Gryffindor tower without Sirius and Briana. When they got there, all chaos broke lose. James took out his wand and made it imit several loud bangs, like gunshots, and that made the whole tower be quiet.
“What’s going on here?” he demanded. “What, you just started fighting with each other because you think it would be fun?!” people shuffled their feet nervously. “Well,” he demanded at the silent crowd, “What’s going on?” he repeated.
“James,” Remus said from over at the corner. “Everyone was fighting because they believed Slytherins’.” he finished with a look of disgust at everyone.
“What?!” James said. “You would let though’s people get in the way of each other’s friendship?” People shuffled their feet again and looked nervously at each other. “Everyone go to their dormitory!” he shouted then made his way over to Remus and Sarah, everyone was filing pass them silently. “What happened?” he whispered as the last people disappeared into their dormitory.
“The Slytherins spread word to people ‘anonymously’ about each other, so when they saw each other again they started to fight.” Remus said looking down at his potions homework. James sighed.
“Moony, can I talk to you?” James said and Remus followed him across the room where the girls couldn’t hear them. “Did you find out how to reverse it?” he asked quietly.
“No, and I had another weird dream last night, I was talking to this boy, he had his head out of the fire, and we were in Sirius’ place, and Sirius was there too. We were talking about you in fifth year, how you hung Snape upside down, I think that was your son.” Remus finished looking confused. James was equally confused and troubled about that, because that was going to happen.
“How close are you to figuring it out?” asked James.
“Pretty close actually.” said Remus happily.
“What are you guys talking about?” Sarah asked.
“Nothing.” James answered and they both headed back over to the girls. When James’ watch beeped out to say that it was midnight they all when to bed. Sirius and Briana still hadn’t turned up, but they weren’t that worried.
“Remus, what’s up?” James asked.
“Sarah.” Remus whispered.
“What about her?” Sirius asked.
“She... she’s at St. Mungo’s.” Remus said in a pained voice. They were at James’ house and they were out of Hogwarts-
BEEP! James woke up when his watch beeped out the time, his wrist was only inches away from his ear. He sat up and looked around, there was an orange tint on the horizon. He looked around the room and saw Remus sitting upright in his bed looking scared. James picked up his shoe from the floor and threw it at him. Remus looked at James.
“What’s up, Moony?” James asked.
“Bad dream.” Remus answered.
“What kind of dream?” asked James hesitantly.
“Don’t worry, I know that this wasn’t one by the mirror, to was... bad.” Remus said. James looked at his watch; 5:34 am.
“Want to get breakfast?” James asked with a smile. Remus looked up at him with one eyebrow raised.
“They don’t serve breakfast this early.” he answered with amusement in his voice.
“So, come on, get dressed.” James said sliding out of his bed and putting on his robes, he walked over to Remus’ bed and picked up his shoe and put that on. They both walked out of the dormitory as quietly as possible, so not to wake anyone up. They entered the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table. No food was there so they just talked, about everything. They were just talking about potions class when the food appeared, at six. Since they had been up for a while they both dug into eggs, beacon and toast. By the time seven arrived, everyone entered the Great Hall. Sirius and Lily came into the Great Hall looking wildly around. They ran to the Gryffindor table and skidded to a stopped in front of Remus and James.
“Where have you guys been?” Sirius asked, breathing heavily.
“We’ve been here.” answered James calmly.
“You have? You mean that we have gone everywhere looking for you two when you were here?” asked Lily.
“Um... yeah.” James answered uncertainly. Lily sat down next to him and Sirius sat across from them. “Lily, I meant to ask, but I was too happy to see you again I forgot.” James continued.
“What is it?” Lily asked taking a bite of her toast.
“Why did Madam Pomphrey let you out so soon?” James asked.
“Well, I woke up last, last night. Madam Pomphrey was there and ran her test and everything during the night so that I could go down and see you guys.” Lily answered piling eggs on her plate. James looked over at Sirius with amusement in his eyes. Madam Pomphrey was up putting James in the corridor that night, that must have been around the time that Lily woke up.
* * * *
“You know what you have to do right?” Lestrange whispered to Bellatrix.
“Yeah,” she answered. She got up from the Slytherin table and made her way over to the Gryffindor table. James and Sirius both saw her. James put his arm around Lily’s waist as Bellatrix stood over them.
“What?” Sirius asked rudely.
“I need to talk to you.” Bellatrix said looking right back at Sirius. He just raised an eyebrow, but nodded all the same. As Bellatrix turned her back Sirius looked at James and nodded. James nodded back and whipped out his wand and pointed it at Sirius. He whispered the incantation and Sirius left. James beckoned Remus and Peter to follow them. The three Marauders left the hall and when up a flight of stairs and behind the tapestry to a secret passageway. James held out the wand tip, which was glowing, so the other two could hear.
“What do you want?” Sirius asked, his voice coming from the wand.
“I wanted to talk to you.” Bellatrix answered.
“About what?” Sirius asked coldly.
The three of them could visibly hear Bellatrix sigh then she started again. “Sirius, you are going to go to prison.” Sirius laughed his bark like laugh. “What?” she asked.
“You are telling me I’m going to prison when I haven’t broken any rules, outside of school.” Sirius said with amusement in his voice.
“You don’t believe me?” she said incredulously.
“Of course not! I hate you, I hate the whole lot of you, why
would I believe you?” Sirius said unconcerned.
“I was trying to warn you. You are going to turn on your friends.” Bellatrix said.
“I would never do that to my friends, unlike you.” said Sirius in a cold whisper, all amusement gone.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you, I was just trying to help you.” Sirius laughed again.
“You,” he paused. “Help me?” he finished laughing again. Bellatrix sighed loudly and the sound of footsteps could be heard. “Got that?” Sirius asked James, even though Sirius was outside and the other Marauders were inside. James tapped the wand tip to send a message to Sirius. As soon as he touched it, purple sparks flew out and the tip stopped glowing.
James got up, followed by Remus and Peter, and walked back down to the Great Hall.

Chapter 24: Insight
“He didn’t believe you?” Snape asked in a harsh whisper. All the Death Eaters were gathered in the Slytherin common room. Bellatrix had just told them all what happened, and it was now two o’clock in the morning.
“Of course he didn’t believe me! He does hate me, as I hate him. There is no reason he should believe me.” Bellatrix whispered back angrily.
“Did you tell him the master has found out how to use the mirr-” Lestrange started, but Bellatrix clapped a hand over his mouth fearfully.
“Of course I didn’t, he wouldn’t believe me anyways!” she snapped.
“Just thought I’d ask. The Dark Lord was keen on having another Black, maybe if he had already known he would betray his friends he wouldn’t want that to happen and joined us...” Lestrange said kindly.
“But he would have never come over to our side anyways, no matter what you told him.” said a quiet voice. Bellatrix looked around and saw a small person sitting on a chair, covering himself with a cloak and bunched up as small as physically possible.
“How would you know that Petegrew?” Bellatrix spat.
“He told me.” Peter said quietly and nervously. “He caught me one time, he thought I turned Dark on him and he looked like he was going to kill me, said he didn’t want friends like the family he hated. I don’t think he would ever turn.” Peter finished a little braver then when he started.
“Okay, well we we’ll have to stop trying to get Sirius Black on our side. The Dark Lord can see into te future without those stupid dreams. I guess we will have to try and target someone else.” said Snape. “But who.”
“I know one.” replied a voice. Everyone turned to the source of the noise and looked at there master’s head in the fire. “We will have to attack the Evans girl again. She will be of great importance in the future and don’t want her to life it through.” Voldemort said, his voice high and cold. “She has been through a lot, but not enough. The poison didn’t work, the Love potion didn’t work, come up with something better!”
“Yes, master.” all seven of them replied. Voldemort’s head disappeared with a faint pop and they all set to work, Regulus putting as little effort into it as possible.
The next morning the Peter woke up and went down to the Great Hall and sat at Gryffindor table, waiting. It was about seven thirty went something happened. Lily, James, Sirius, Remus and Sarah all walked in just as the six Slytherins’ did. The Gryffindor group didn’t even notice the Slytherins and made there way over to the table. Lestrange took aim for Lily’s back. James sensed something wrong and quickly turned around. As he turned around Lestrange fired the spell as James stepped in front of Lily. The spell hit him full on in the chest and James crashed to the floor. Lily turned around, as did everyone else, and screamed. James had a little bit of blood seeping from his head where it had made contact with the ground. Remus was the first to act, he pulled out his wand before the teachers even realized anything and ran him to the hospital wing, Sirius, Lily and Sarah right behind him.
Peter stood up and started to run after them also. That was the plan, he was to get up early so his friends couldn’t suspect him. Then he was to follow them to the hospital wing. So, that was were he was now, sitting beside James bed, that should have been Lily’s. Lily had tears pouring down her face and Sarah was trying to comfort her the best she could. Remus and Sirius gave her encouraging words also. Peter was thinking fiercely, Lily was supposed to get hurt, but I guess this works out too, Lily is miserable, while, if she were unconscious, she wouldn’t know anything. Peter’s thought chased each other round and round his head until he felt dizzy.
“Wormtail!” Remus almost screamed. Peter jolted a little in his seat and turned to face him.
“Yeah?” Peter muttered quietly.
“Are you okay?” asked Remus concernedly. This was killing Peter, here Peter was going along with plans to hurt them and they were being nice to him. But he couldn’t give in, he could tell them.
“I’m fine.” Peter murmured.
That night Sirius and Remus were up talking quietly in the dorm. Peter was listening in, pretending to be asleep.
“What do you think sort of curse hit James?” Sirius asked quietly now.
“I’m not sure, it could have just been a stunner. Madam Pomphrey didn’t try and wake him up. She said that he has to wake up on his own.” replied Remus, shifting a little on his bed so it creaked.
“Why would the Slytherin’s want to do that?” asked Sirius nervously.
“Why wouldn’t they? They are constantly trying to do us in, or haven’t you noticed?” answered Remus sharply. Sirius bed groaned a little and Sirius slid off it and onto the floor. He began pacing the room, coming dangerously close to discovering the Peter was awake.
“AAAHHH!!!” Peter yelled suddenly, struck by blinding pain. Remus and Sirius ran over to him as Peter sat bolt upright and clutched his arm.
“Peter! What is it!?” Sirius asked, almost yelling.
“Nothing.” said Peter through pain. The burning feeling, as if hot embers from a fire had been placed on his arm, had subsided. “Nothing, go back to bed.” Peter finished and slumped sideways onto his pillows. Sirius and Remus exchanged worried glances before climbing into their own beds and dropping off to sleep.
The next morning was Saturday and the Marauders and the four girls were in the hospital, beside James’ bed. Lily looked like she hadn’t slept in a while, there were dark circles around her eyes and her hair was in a messy bun, with hair spilling all over her face. He cheeks were so tear stained it looked like it would never come off. She sat there, stroking James’ hand, with tears pouring continuously out of her eyes and onto the mattress.
James’ eyelids fluttered a little, then again, soon he opened them to see seven people staring at him, again. Lily looked like she was about to faint from relief and wrapped her arms around him immediately and started to kiss him. Lily had reacted before anyone even knew what was going on. Someone cleared their throat loudly and Lily and James broke apart to see Madam Pomfrey standing over them.
“I would like to check over my patient, if that is okay with you?” Madam Pomfrey said with a slight smile on her face. Lily blushed and moved out of the way. “Well, you look fine-”
“Can I go?” interrupted James.
“Yes, you may go.” Madam Pomfrey said. James leaped off the bed and put his arm around Lily’s waist and walked out with everyone else. “In and out of here more than any other student I’ve ever seen...” she muttered smiling as the group made their way out into the corridor.
“Unlucky again!” the voice of Lucius Malfoy said from behind the door to the hospital wing.

Chapter 25: Badger and the Lion
The days flashed past at an abnormally fast speed. The longest January of the Marauders’ life finally faded away into February, which blew the wintery winds right on through March. Today was the last quidditch match for Gryffindor, they were playing against Hufflepuff.
“Okay, conditions look okay, we’ve played in worse.” James said bracingly to the team. They were in the changing rooms and the game was about to start. “Let’s go!” James said, listening to the people outside. The team walked outside to the roar of the crowd. James shook hands with the Hufflepuff team captain and the game began.
“Black has the quaffle, he passes it to Portew, who passes it to Longbottom, passes is back to Black and he... HE SCORES!” the commentator was saying. James swooped down upon the field, his toes brushing the grass and the fierce winds wiping through his hair. He tilted his broom skyward and shot up. He was going so fast the Hufflepuff seeker came up next to him, thinking he’d seen the snitch. James laughed and turned around and dive boomed the people that were blocking Carter from hitting a bludger. As James came near them, they scattered. Carter grinned at James and hit the next bludger that came his way at the group that had blocked him. James dived again and was up next to Sirius. He dived lower and was below the game.
“Longbottom passes to Portew, who passes it back to Longbottom who shoots and... MISSES!” a loud groan could be heard from one end of the quidditch pitch and loud cheering from the opposite end. James looked at the game and just barely ducked a bludger that was coming his way. He whirled around and flew upwards again. James was fifty feet above the game and was continuously circling it. He was just passing the Gryffindor goal post when a Hufflepuff scored. James groaned in time with the other Gryffindor supporters in the stands.
The game had been going on for an hour and the score was 160-150 Hufflepuff. Every time Gryffindor made a goal to tie the game, Hufflepuff made a goal soon after. James just spotted something shiny from above him. He looked again and saw that it was just Daniel’s watch shining in the sun. James sighed and scanned the ground again. He looked up and down at equal intervals. He saw it. James shot up at lightning speed.
Below, Sirius saw James move upwards, he’d seen the snitch. They had to get at least one more goal. Right now they were tied and the Hufflepuffs had possession of the quaffle. Sirius got right next to the Hufflepuff with the quaffle and spun around, the tail of his broom knocking the quaffle from his hands. The quaffle was twenty feet below and dropping fast. Frank came up and caught the quaffle. Sirius got right next to him and Andrew was hitting bludgers at anyone who got to near them.
“Black has the quaffle, he passes it to Longbottom, who passes it back to Black. He’s around the goal post and passed it back to Longbottom who shoots and... SCORES! 170-160 Gryffindor!” the Gryffindors’ yelled so loud, no one noticed someone dropping out of the sky like a bullet.
James headed to the ground as fast as he could go. He couldn’t catch the snitch now and he couldn’t let the other seeker know he had found it. He heard whistling behind him and smiled. The crowd gasped as James was feet away from the ground and wasn’t pulling up. James finally pulled up with just inches to spare. That was James’ ‘secret weapon’ trick. He had perfected it so that he could dive lower. A loud thud was followed as James pulled up. He looked back and saw that the Hufflepuff seeker had collided with the ground. James grinned as he saw that she got up off the ground. He kept one eye on the snitch and one eye on the game.
“210-190 Gryffindor.” the commentator said. They had to be fifty points ahead to have a chance at winning. The Hufflepuff would have to lose their next match, which was against Ravenclaw and the last match of the season. Another hour went by and the crowd had gone hoarse from cheering for so long. James finally decided to end the game, since he had been following the snitch for a while. He sped off towards the Hufflepuff goal post and, before anyone knew it, the game was over.
“Looks like Potter caught the snitch, making the final score 380-210 to Gryffindor.” the commentator finished. James swooped around to meet the team back on the ground.
“How did you know where the snitch was like that?” Sirius asked.
“I was following it for most of the game.” James answered quietly. They had been on their brooms for almost four hours so they were all sore and tired.
“Why didn’t you catch it sooner?” asked Sirius with a groan as he pulled off his shirt to change into his robes. The wind was blowing so fast that most of everyone’s clothes had been frozen in place.
“Because we needed to be two hundred points ahead of Hufflepuff to have a chance, but everyone looked so dead on their brooms that I just decided to catch it.” said James as they left the changing room and met up with Remus, Peter, Lily, Kat and Sarah.
“Where’s Briana?” asked Sirius? He had been going out with Briana for about three months, an all time high.
“She was in the stands with us,” Lily said looking around. “Oh! There she is.” she said pointing into the crowd and spotting Briana. Sirius ran towards her and started to kiss her. James rolled his eyes and the group went back up to the common room. Once they climbed in cheering erupted like a boom explosion. James smiled slightly and pulled his arm tighter around Lily’s waist. James gave Lily a quick kiss and ran up to the dormitory. James, Remus and Peter met up with him after a while.
“Why are you up here?” asked Sirius, holding a butterbeer in his hand.
“I’m tired, really, we were playing for hours.” said James with a huge yawn. He dropped onto his bed, and within moments, feel asleep.
“Get UP!” shouted Lily. She jumped onto James and started to kiss him. He kissed her back, he could get used to this wake up call. Sirius came up behind them.
“Is this what it’s like when I start snogging someone?” he asked.
“Yeah.” Remus and Peter said. Sirius grumbled something and feel back onto his bed.

Chapter 26: The Battle
The next week passed without any trouble from the Slytherins’, which bothered James, they must be planning something big. James was in the common room and it was close to six o’clock at night, he was sitting on the window sill and looking out over the Forbidden Forest. Someone’s hand grasped his shoulder and he turned around to see Lily standing there.
“Hey beautiful.” said James.
“Hey yourself.” answered Lily sitting down beside him. “What are you thinking about?”
“The love of my life.” James answered dreamily.
“Oh?” asked Lily mockingly. “And who would that be?”
“Ah, I think you know her,” James started off sarcastically. “She has the most beautiful red hair and the softest emerald green eyes. She is brilliant at everything and can light up a room by walking in.” said James dreamily looking at Lily.
“I love you.” said Lily softly.
“What?” asked James.
“I said, I love you.” Lily repeated. So his ears weren’t teasing him, Lily loved him! He could have jumped for joy, yelled at the top of his lungs.
“Do you mean that?” he asked calmly, the exact opposite of what he felt.
“Yes, I do.”
“I love you too, Lily Evans.” James whispered leaning in to kiss her. They stayed like that for the better part of the night. Finally they broke apart and said goodnight and went to bed. James was too ecstatic to sleep, the most perfect girl in the whole world loved him, wow. James smiled and slowly drifted off to sleep.
James woke up the next morning with a smile on his face. It didn’t take long for the other guys to notice how happy he was.
“What are you smiling about?” asked Sirius as they headed down to breakfast.
“Lily said that she loved me.” answered James. Remus stopped, so did Sirius and Peter. James was a good twelve feet in front of them before he noticed they had stopped. “What?”
“Are you serious?” Remus asked. Sirius was so shocked that he didn’t even make a joke about his name.
“Yeah I’m serious. Why, is that so hard to believe?” asked James.
“Yeah.” said Sirius, he paused and rethought that. “No it’s not hard to believe it’s just that Lily hated you before. But we are really happy for you.” Remus and Peter nodded there heads in agreement.
“Thanks guys.” said James, and they continued to make their way to the Great Hall. James spotted Lily and sat down next to her and kissed her cheek.
“Morning.” said Lily.
“Morning beautiful.” answered James taking a bite of toast. Once they all finished breakfast they went outside and enjoyed a beautiful Saturday. It was about four thirty when James felt it, an eerie feeling that something bad was going to happen. He stood up and pulled out his wand.
“James, what are you doing?” asked Lily.
“Something’s wrong.” said James. Suddenly loud cracks filled the air from just beyond the gates of Hogwarts. “Lily, Sarah, Briana and Kat, go to the dormitories.” continued James as the other Marauders pulled out there wands.
“No, James, were going to fight.” James looked at the determination in Lily’s eyes and knew that he couldn’t talk her out of it, he nodded. The girls pulled out there wands, so did the older students that were outside. James looked over at them and noticed, with relief, that they were telling the younger students to go into the castle. James looked back at the gates and saw twenty people in midnight black robes and silver masks. Death Eaters.
“Okay, those are Death Eaters, you guys have to be careful, they kill without caring.” said James once all the older students had gathered around also. James looked again and saw that they had stopped a few feet away from them.
“James Potter.” said a cold voice.
“What?” spat James.
“Do you know who I am?” the voice continued from the person standing ahead of the Death Eaters.
“No.” answered James.
“I am Lord Voldemort.” said Voldemort calmly while all the Death Eaters flinched at his name.
“So, Voldemort, what do want?” asked James calmly, as if they were discussing the weather.
“What I want, is to take over the school.” Voldemort replied just as calmly.
“Not a chance.” sad James forcibly.
“Fine then. Avada Keda-” yelled Voldemort.
“Stupefy.” yelled James. And the battling continued. Stupify James thought, Voldemort blocked it and sent one of his own, James dodged it with ease. Expelliarmus James thought again. Expelliarmus, Stupefy, Impedimenta James thought all at once, the three beams bursting out of his wand and toward Voldemort. Voldemort sent one of his own, then one right after. James managed to block the first one, but was too slow for the second one. He was flying, flying through the air. He suddenly slammed into the wall of Hogwarts. He picked himself up and faced his opponent. He looked Lord Voldemort right in the eyes and the battle continued. They were flashing curse after curse at each other. He ducked a hex and got a glimpse of the others. Lily was fighting a few feet away and Sirius looked dead on the ground until he picked himself up and started to fight again. Remus was fighting two Death Eaters and Peter was nowhere to be found. James looked up and saw Voldemorts’ wand raised. “Avad-” No thought James, that was the dream that he had a few months ago. Stupefy a red beam burst out of his wand the same time that Voldemort finished the incantation. Red and green sparks showered everyone. Around them Death Eaters were dropping faster than stones since the teachers had joined them. Voldemort started to retreat. James sent a few more curses and hexes after him and the Death Eaters (few as there were) until they disapperated outside the gates.
James dropped down on his knees to where Lily was. Sirius and Remus dragged themselves over to them. Briana wandered to them shortly afterwards and Kat, Sarah and Peter were no where to be found. The girls started crying and Sirius and James held on to their girlfriends. Dumbledore came to them after they had been sitting there for almost half an hour.
“You kids fought well today.” he said.
“Where is Kat, Sarah and Peter?” sobbed Lily.
“They are right over there.” replied Dumbledore pointing towards the tree. The five of them made there way over there, and looked around at all the fallen people that were fighting on their side. They slowly made there way back up to the castle.

Chapter 27: A New Hope
It had been a few weeks since Voldemort had attacked the school. The funerals had already been held for everyone who had perished in the battle. The Marauders and the four girls were in the common room, trying to talk about anything except for the battle, where they all thought they had lost each other. It was Saturday night, they didn’t have classes the whole week after the battle, they had to repair the grounds from damage.
“Lily, come with me.” said James suddenly.
“Okay.” she answered, a little perplexed. James held out his hand and Lily grabbed it and they walked out of the portrait hole, their friends exchanging looks behind their backs.
“Lily, go to the lake, I’ll be right there.” said James, and he ran back to the common room. Lily shrugged and made she way down to the lake. She waited there for a few minutes until she saw sharply hazel eyes staring at her. She stood up, a little unsure. Out of the trees from the forest came the most beautiful stag she had ever seen. The stag walked right up to her and she stretched her hand to pat it, almost sure the stag would pull away. It didn’t. The stag aloud her to pat him. He walked around her and when he was facing her face again, he looked her right in the eyes. Lily didn’t break eye contact with the stag, even as it started to change. The stags face got shorter and turned a more human color. She finally broke eye contact and looked at James.
“You turn into a stag?” she whispered.
“Yes.” he replied with a smile.
“And you never told me?” asked Lily as her and James sat by the lake and looked at the almost full moon, reflecting off the lake’s smooth glassy water.
“Like I said, I wanted to keep it a surprise.” James answered, the smile still on his face. Lily leaned in and started to kiss him.
“That was cheesy!” exclaimed Sirius from the dormitory window that over looked the grounds and the forest. The three Marauders had been there since James left.
“No it wasn’t, just because you can do nothing romantic, doesn’t mean we all can’t.” retorted Remus.
“Wow, he looks really happy.” Peter said. Inside he was hating himself.
“Yeah, he does. I wouldn’t be surprised if he asks Lily to marry him by the end of the year.” said Sirius.
“Want to bet on that?” asked Peter. Remus just rolled his eyes and walked over to his bed, and lay there listening to Sirius and Peter betting on their best friends happiness. Remus occasionally joined in, but soon fell asleep.
James walked into his dorm at almost three in the morning. He was walking as quietly as he physically could so he wouldn’t wake up anyone in his dorm. He and Lily had been out for almost six hours. They hung out by the lake for a while, then wondered up to the Room of Requirements. James smiled as he fell onto his bed. He was soon asleep.
James woke to another shoe hitting him. He sat up and looked at Remus.
“What?” he asked quietly since it was five in the morning.
“I figured it out!” Remus replied happily. “It’s called the ‘Mirror of Ulterior’.” Remus continued.
“What?” asked James coming over to Remus so they wouldn’t wake anyone up.
“‘The Mirror of Ulterior is an object of great power. It can make all who look into it have visions of their future, or someone else’s future, in the form of dreams. The only way to undo the visions is to look into the mirror and say the following incantation: Rabaras Futura.’” said Remus.
“Great, well, lets go down to the Slytherin common room and perform that spell.” said James, getting up, off of Remus’ bed and heading over to his trunk.
“James, you have to be right next to the mirror. And you have to say the incantation too, it won’t work if I just say it.” added Remus.
“Okay, come on.” said James, holding up his invisibility cloak. Remus sighed and walked over to him, he threw the cloak over both of them and they headed out of the Gryffindor tower with the Marauders map. They got to the mirror and Remus tapped his wand to it, which melted away. They both climbed in and made the long way down to the common room. Once they were finally there they checked the common room for people, no one was there, thankfully. James and Remus crept down the stairs out of the tunnel and into the common room, they walked over to the mirror and looked at it. The mirror had written numerals all over it, in a language James had no hope of understanding.
“It says: ‘With great power, comes great responsibility, choose well’.” whispered Remus, who took Ancient Runes. They both looked into the mirror and said the incantation quietly. As soon as that was done, a red glow came from the mirror, and it started to shake, rocking the whole wall. Remus and James looked at each other and then ran towards solid wall where they knew the passageway was. Two red beams of light hit them in the back, through the invisibility cloak. They stopped and looked at each other. They were both glowing with the red light, then it faded softly, but now the tunnel had started to shack so they couldn’t stay any longer. As soon as they made it out, they heard a loud crash and slowly looked into the tunnel again. It had completely caved in.
“Well, we can never use that again.” whispered James. He took out the map again and looked at it, Professors’ McGonagall, Dumbledore, Flitwick and Slughorn were all coming towards them. “C’mon.” James said and ran into a secret passageway, then back into the corridor a good three floors above where the noise was. They went back to their dormitory and quickly fell asleep.
“Wake up! You guys, something terrible happened!” said Sirius, trying and failing to wake James and Remus up. “You guys are just useless lumps of life.” added Sirius. James picked up his shoe from the ground and threw it at Sirius, e was half asleep so it hit the wall beside him. “So, one of them moves.” Sirius said, throwing the shoe back at James, who grunted slightly at the shoe made contact with his back.
“Come on, it’s eleven o’clock!” said Peter.
“Alrightimup.” said Remus, sliding off his bed, James doing the same, realizing that he wasn’t getting any more sleep.
“Finally!” said Sirius dramatically. “You guys will never believe what happened. The tunnel that we found this, year, you know the one that goes to the Slytherin common room, caved in!” Sirius exclaimed. Remus and James looked at each other with raised eyebrows and fell back onto their beds. “What? It isn’t important?”
“No, it’s just that we already knew that.” came the muffled reply from James.
“How could you possibly know that? You have been asleep all day and Peter and I found out during breakfast.” said Sirius.
“We were the one’s that caused it to cave in.” replied Remus, his voice also muffled by his pillow.
“Why would you do that?” asked Sirius.
“Because Moony and I were having dreams about the future and we wanted them to stop. Moony looked up what could be causing it and found out it was the mirror in the Slytherin common room. So, Moony found the spell to take it off, but you had to be in front of the mirror to do that. So we went to their common room and performed the spell, which caused the tunnel to collapsed.” explained James, sitting up, realizing that he couldn’t fall asleep anyways.
“Come on you guys, tonight is the full moon and I want to get some sleep.” said Remus. The three Marauders made their was out of the dorm so that Remus could sleep, and met up with the girls in the Great Hall. Lily was skimming her potions book, while all the other girls talked.
“Hey Lily.” said James, kissing Lily on the cheek.
“Hey James.” replied Lily, remembering last night.
“What are you doing?” asked James as he grabbed some food and ate, since he missed breakfast.
“Studding for the N.E.W.T’s.” she replied.
“But there in three months.” James stated.
“I know.” was all she answered. James shrugged and finished eating.
“Where’s Remus?” asked Sarah.
“In our dorm.” answered Sirius.
“Why?” she asked perplexed.
“Full moon.” James heard Sirius whisper quietly to her, she nodded her head sadly. They made their way down to the lake and Lily still was reading her textbook while James, Peter and Sirius horse around.
“Aren’t you guys going to study?” asked Lily suddenly.
“We are.” replied Sirius, throwing a spell at Peter that turned his hair purple. James sent one at Sirius and he turned into a dog. All the girls except Lily and Sarah gasped. James pointed his wand at Sirius again and he was back. James was grinning at Sirius, who was grinning back. Sirius turned into a black dog again, but this time the girls didn’t know what was going on, James hadn’t waved his wand. Sirius went up to Briana and sat down next to her and turned back into himself.
“How did you do that?” asked Briana.
“I’m an animagi.” he replied calmly. Then James and Peter both turned into their animagi’s, James and Peter both came up to their girlfriends and turned back into themselves. The day slowly went by and Remus joined them at about four in the afternoon. Sarah went over to him and they walked off together.

Chapter 28: N.E.W.T’sThe months flew by with more studding then the Marauders have ever done, with the exception of Remus. Lily was freaking out, but was kept in check by James.
“Lily, calm down, please.” James begged one afternoon.
“James, I can’t! I’m going to fail everything! I know it!” said Lily, slamming her book shut. James stroked her hair as Lily buried her head in his shoulder. Sirius, Remus and Peter walked in and saw them. James shrugged to them over Lily’s back. They nodded and headed over to their own pile of books that they had left earlier when Remus had a melt down.
“Lily, come on.” said James, standing up and holding her hand. James lead Lily around the school and out onto the grounds. The moon was just visible, a tiny sliver in the sky. James lead her down to the lake and they sat there.
“I’m sorry James.” Lily murmured. “I don’t know why I freak out. I just do.”
“It’s okay. Lily, You will do fine.” added James.
“James,” said Lily suddenly. “The N.E.W.T.’s are tomorrow!” And with that she leapt up and ran back to the castle. James got up and sprinted after her, easily catching up. He grabbed her by her arm and spun her around so that she was facing him.
“Lily, LILY! Calm down.” said James, a little too loud, because the caretaker started to come toward the noise. “Quick, in here.” said James as the footsteps got louder. He pulled aside a tapestry on the wall, a floor ahead of them, and dragged Lily inside. James put his hand over her mouth as she made every intention of talking and giving them away.
“Bloody kids.” Mr. Flich, the caretaker wheezed as he passed right by them. Once James heard retreating footsteps he lead Lily out and they ran back to their common room. Sirius and Peter looked up at them, but Remus had his head buried in a book. Lily ran over to her books and pulled one off the top of the stack, that came up to her waist, and started reading it. James started to read his own textbook and soon went up to bed.
James was awoken by Remus suddenly saying something out loud, as he had been muttering under his breath for the past half hour. James sat up and looked out the window, the sun was just about up so James grabbed the book for the class that he had first, Transfiguration. James was confident in his Transfiguration when he walked back into the Great Hall twenty minutes after breakfast, which none of the fifth or seventh years touched.
The Marauders sat down where the examiner put then. Remus was two seats in front of James. Sirius was three seats behind and two seats to the right of him. And Peter was four seats to the left and one seat in front, Lily was sitting twenty seats across the room.
“Okay, you have two hours,” he waved his wand and all the test with special quills (with ani-cheat jinks on them) landed in front of every student. “You may begin.” he finished.
Two hours later they were all out in the hall waiting to take their practical exam. “Petegrew, Potter, Rainold, Ramsey, Rosier.” The examiner called. The five stepped into the Great Hall again, the tables and chairs have been removed and now there was five examiners waiting for the next student. James stepped up to one of the open examiners.
“Hello, my name is Grace Pretoler. I would like you to change into any animal.” Grace said. James took out his want and changed himself into a parrot with utmost ease. Once he turned back Grace marked something on a chart. James went through a lot ad felt like he did good.
Once he was finished he had half an hour before his next exam, Potions. The seventh years entered the Great Hall again and saw that all the small tables had reappeared. Their next exam consisted of 144 questions and then their practical exam which they had to make the beginning of Veritaserum, since it took a whole month to complete and the beginning is the hardest. After that, it was almost dinner time. All the seventh and fifth years were nervous and exhausted from their day of exams. Once everyone finished dinner they headed back up to their common rooms and studied from their next exam in the morning, Charms then Herbology.
“You did fine, calm down!” said James all through breakfast the next morning. Lily was calmer today then yesterday as Charms was her best subject. The Marauders had barely spoken in the last two days as they were studding, they would occasionally ask each other a question, but that was it. Again, they all walked back into the Great Hall and sat down to take their exams. After two hours of running their brains dry from information, they had their practical.
“Hello again Mr. Potter.” Grace said. “Now, I would like for you to change this water glass into a pineapple and back.” James did as he was told with a little difficulty, but he managed. After Grace asked him to summon, change and repel objects all over the place, James left to study for the second exam that day. James was falling asleep as he was walking back to Gryffindor tower. James hit the wall and woke with a start. He was right next to the Fat Lady’s portrait. He muttered the password and walked in. He collapsed onto a chair and opened his Herbology textbook and started to read.
“JAMES! WAKE UP!” Lily yelled. James sat bolt upright and his book fell to the floor with a
thunk. He stood up once he knew what was happening, he had only five minutes until the Herbology exam. He ran out of the portrait hole with Lily and they just made it to the entrance hall. They were seated, yet again, at the small individual tables and started the exams with their special anti-jinks quills. The exam was very hard for James, Sirius and Peter. They had a practical and when James reentered the Great Hall, it was unrecognizable, plants were everywhere, five paths lead from the entrance and into the jungle beyond. James was lead by Mr. Elder, which suited him, he had white wispy hair and blurry blue eyes. He stopped every so often to ask James what plant this was. James knew most of them. Once he was lead back out of the maze he joined the Marauders and Lily, Sarah, Briana, and Kat.
They headed down to dinner and forced some food down before they studied for their Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures exams the next day. James just closed his
Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them book as the clock struck out the time, one o’clock. James headed upstairs and fell asleep. He woke the next day, got dressed and headed down to breakfast. The
Daily Prophet landed in front of him and he opened it. There was nothing interesting in it so he closed it and finished his cereal as Lily sat beside him. They soon left the hall and reentered it twenty minutes later. They sat through there Defense Against the Dark Arts exam and waited outside for the examiners to call them back in. Finally James was called in and walked up to a new examiner.
“Okay Mr. Potter, my name Rilie Ean,” Rilie said. “Follow me.” and he led James outside. There was a maze outside and, again, with five entrances. “You will enter this one here.” Rilie said and pointed to the second from the left path. James looked at him to go on by Rilie just nodded his head at the entrance. James walked in but Rilie didn’t follow him, so he walked in alone. It got dark instantly, and really cold. James pulled out his wand and pointed it into the darkness. A dementor towered over him, rotting hands rolling out of a torn cloak.
“Expecto Patronum.” James muttered and a silver stag appeared. It charged down the dementor as soon as James heard screaming in his head. From the time that James had watched is Aunt being tortured by some dark people, James now knew was Death Eaters, all because she wouldn’t join there side. As soon as the dementor flew away, James could see again, but now much better. James continued walking down the path. The path lead him right by the lake, where he heard stomping. He turned around, then looked in front of him again and continued walking toward the source of the noise. The path opened up and he could see the glassy surface of the lake. On the shore was a beautiful horse with bulrushes for a mane.
A kelpie, thought James. He conjured up a bridle and placed it over the kelpie’s head and sealed it there with a Placement Charm. The kelpie trotted back into the water of the lake, sending ripples everywhere. Once the water had settled down, and returned to it’s glassy state, James moved on back into the maze. James had only walked about ten paces when he heard soft breathing, which shouldn’t happen, since there was five different paths and none of them crossed each other. He turned a corner and saw a
manticore. It has the head of a man, body of a lion and tail of a scorpion. James stared in shock and raised his wand arm. He crouched down and took aim as the manticore started to come towards him. He fired a spell that shot purple out of his wand and hit it right in the stomach. It kneeled over sideways and James could walk by, careful not to touch it’s stinger, which kills instantly.
James walked by and faced something he didn’t expect, someone was on the ground. He walked slowly forward and looked at the person. She was covered in blood with gruesome puncture wounds all over her body. James looked at the beautiful face of Lily Evans, dead. James’ eyes widened and he forgot himself for a second before he realized it was boggart.
Ridikulus thought James and the boggart vanished in a puff of smoke. James couldn’t get the image of dead Lily out of his mind. Soon sunshine hit him and he was out of the maze.
James walked back up to Gryffindor tower with Remus, Sirius and Peter. They started studding for Care of Magical Creatures for a little while before they were called back down to the Great Hall to take their exam and practical. After that class was done, James and Sirius jumped for joy that their exams were over. Remus and Lily still had one more class in the morning, Ancient Runes. Remus and Lily stayed up studding while James, Sirius and Peter went outside and hung out under the tree. Once it got too dark to see, the three headed up to their dormitory and fell asleep. James woke up at almost ten in the morning. He didn’t care since he didn’t have any more classes or exams to take so he had two days until the Graduation Ball, then he would never go back to school again. James just spent the whole day walking around the castle and marveling at the place that had been a home away from home for him for seven years. He got back to the common room later that night with a huge smile on his face. He climbed the stairs and fell asleep within minutes, the same smile plastered on his face as he slept.

Chapter 29: Graduation Ball
Remus and Lily got done with their exams and the Marauders were hanging out with their girlfriends, glad school was over, but sad that they might not see each other again. They were all in the common room, talking, and Lily occasionally joined in, as she was reading a book.
“What about the Ball this afternoon?” asked Sirius.
“What about it?” James asked in turn.
“Well, what’s it going to look like? Stuff like that.” said Sirius.
“Well, it would probably look like the Christmas feast, only a dance.” answered Sarah from near the fire.
“What are you guys going to wear?” asked Remus.
“You can’t know that. You have to wait until the dance.” said Sarah flirtatiously. Remus grinned at her.
“Okay, I’m bored.” said Sirius.
“Well we could walk around.” answered Briana with a smile.
“How about we go outside, we will probably never see the castle again.” said Sirius, everyone started to stand up, but James had an idea.
“Um, guys, can I talk to you in our dorm?” asked James. All the Marauders shrugged and followed James upstairs.
“What’s up Prongs?” asked Peter.
“The map, we should put it in Filch’s office.” said James, taking the Marauders Map out of his trunk.
“Wait, we should make it insult people who don’t know the right password.” said Remus, an evil glint in his eye. He took out his wand and started to perform some complex movements, and speaking in a language none could understand. Once he was finished he handed it back to James, who was staring with his eyes wide and jaw dropped.
“How did you know that? You only just now suggested it.” asked James.
“I knew you guys would love the idea, so I looked up the charm.” Remus answered. James grinned at him and the four headed down stairs. They passed the girls, telling them they would be right back. They sneaked down the corridor and walked up to Mr. Filch’s office door. The caretaker was there, so Peter brought out his bag of dungbombs and threw one down the hallway. Mr. Filch came out of his office, cursing Peeves the Poltergeist. Once Mr. Filch was down the corridor and out of sight, the Marauders went into his office and put the map in the Dangerous file in the filing cabinet.
They were back in the common room in a matter of minutes. The girls asked where they had been but they just said nowhere. They walked down to the lake and stared out over the grounds that they had called home for the past seven years. As soon as it was three o’clock the girls stood up to leave, saying they need time to get ready for the dance, which was at seven. The guys left at six, and headed to their dormitory to get ready. When James was ready, he came down and waited in the common room for Sirius, Remus, Peter, Lily, Sarah, Briana and Kat. Soon the other Marauders joined him and the four of them waited nervously for their dates. James was thumbing and object in his pocket when Lily came down from the dormitory. His jaw dropped, Lily was wearing an emerald green dress that matched her eyes, and her hair had a few curls to it. Once Lily was right in front of him, she laughed, and placed a finger under his chin and lifted his jaw back into place. Briana, Sarah, and Kat came down shortly after, all looking stunning. Briana had a spaghetti strap, sliver dress that came down to her knees, Kat had on a light blue dress and Sarah had a soft pink dress on.
Once the eight of them got down to the Great Hall, they were all seated and looked up at Dumbledore, waiting for him to speak.
“I would like to say that we are all very proud of all of you for making it this far. Some people have lost siblings or family members to Voldemort this year. Some have left the school to be with their family. We are very proud of the people that did stay, and made it this far. A few of you have gotten in trouble over the years,” he looked at the Marauders, and they grinned back at him. “And a few of you have done especially good in your classes. I would like to congratulate the class of 1976.” applause erupted from the hall once he was finished speaking and the food appeared. Everyone dug in, and soon the food had disappeared and Dumbledore cleared the hall with a sweep of his wand. The music started and James lead Lily onto the dance floor.
“Lily, you know that I love you right?” asked James as the song slowed down. Lily smiled up at James as he snaked his arms around her waist, and she did the same around his neck.
“Yeah, James, I do, and I love you too.” answered Lily. James smiled back, knowing that everything would be okay.
“Um, Lily,” said James, suddenly nervous. “Want to take a walk outside?”
“Sure.” she answered. James held her hand tightly and lead her out of the front doors and towards the lake. The moon was bright and half full, which reflected off the water perfectly. Lily leaned against the tree and gazed out over the grounds, and their last night at Hogwarts. They both didn’t notice three people slip into the bush next to the lake. James started pacing in front of Lily. She watched him go back and forth in front of her, she couldn’t take it anymore.
“What is it James?” she asked kindly. He turned and looked at her.
“Something I wanted to ask you.” he mumbled. The bush moved and both Lily and James looked at it. James just shrugged and turned back to Lily. He got down to the ground and looked back up at Lily. He pulled out the object he was messing with earlier, a small box.
“Lily Evans, will you marry me?” James asked in a loving voice. Lily’s hand flew to her mouth as James opened the box and showed her a beautiful emerald ring.
“Yes, James,” said Lily with tears of joy in her eyes. “I will.” James stood up and put the ring on Lily’s finger and kissed her passionately.
“You owe me five galleons Padfoot.” Remus’ voice said from within the bush.
“Shoot! Hey, Wormtail, you owe me five sickles,” said Sirius, emerging from the bush. Lily and James looked at the three of them. They looked back at them with wide grins on. Sirius came up to James and clapped him on the back, along with Remus and Peter. They made their way back up to the castle and met up with Sarah, Briana and Kat. Lily was staring at her beautiful ring, and her friends immediately noticed.
“Lily, where did you get that ring?” Sarah asked. Lily smiled and looked at James. The girls could put two and two together. They pulled Lily to the side.
“Did James propose?” Briana asked excitedly. Lily just nodded and looked out over the dance floor. “Ha! Sarah, you owe me three galleons.” Lily looked at her friends astonished, she could understand the Marauders, but them? Briana just smiled at her and went over to Sirius, where they immediately started to snog each other. Lily walked over to James and walked back on to the dance floor to a slow song, hanging on to each other for the moment.

Padfoot, Prongs and Moony

EpilogIt had been half a year since James had proposed to Lily, and half a year since all their friends, and themselves, got out of school. James was standing in a tent outside of a magnificent house, the house was the one that Lily and him had bought when they got out of school. James and Lily both joined this order that Dumbledore started called, the Order of the Phoenix. They were both also training to be Aurors. The house had three bedrooms, all of which looked out over a huge field that James would fly around, since there was no muggles around. There were lilies growing all around the path that lead to the front door and all along the side of the house. James was standing with the rest of the Marauders.
“Prongs, why are you nervous?” asked Sirius.
“Because, I don’t know, I just am.” replied James, looking out at everyone who had come, which was a lot.
“Just think,” started Sirius, putting an arm on James’ shoulder. “You are the first of us to get married. But who knows, Moony here will probably marry next. Just imagine him marring someone with pink.” he finished, laughing at the thought. Remus scowled as Peter and James joined in on the laughter.
“Okay, guys, cut it out.” said Remus when they still hadn’t stopped laughing. A bell rang just outside the door and James looked nervous again. “That’s your cue.” finished Remus, giving him a push don the isle when he didn’t move. James walked up to the altar and turned back to face everyone, who were all looking at him. Music soon started to play and everyone stood up as Sirius and Briana walked out, followed by Remus and Sarah, then Peter and Kat, then Lily. As soon as James saw Lily he totally forgot where he was, she was beautiful, stunning, in a dress of the softest white and gold trim. Her hair was up in a elegant bun with loose curls falling down her back. Once she reached where James was standing, everyone else immediately sat down.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness the boning of Mr. James Potter and Ms. Lily Evans. If anyone has any objections as to way these two should not be bonded, speak now, or forever hold your peace.” the Bonded stopped speaking and looked out at the crowd, no one looked ready to object, which made James beam at Lily. “Okay, do you, James Potter, take Lily Evans to be your wife, in rich or poor, sickness or in health, till death do you part?” the Bonder said, holding his wand over James and Lily’s interlocked hands. James looked lily straight in the eyes, her beautiful emerald eyes, and said,
“I do.” a golden ribbon flew out of the Bonder’s wand and wrapped itself comfortably around James’ ring finger on his left hand.
“Lily Evans, do you take James Potter to be your husband, in rich or poor, sickness or in health, till death do you part?” he asked again.
“I do.” Lily said, as the Bonder’s wand emitted another golden ribbon, which wrapped itself around Lily’s ring finger on her left hand.
“I now pronounce you, husband and wife, you may kiss the bride.” he finished. James looked back at Lily and kissed her gently and everyone started to clap. When they broke apart James whispered in Lily’s ear,
“How are you feeling, Mrs. Potter?” James lifted his head to look at Lily who was smiling at being called that. They both made their way down the isle and into the their house. Everyone else that was seated all stood up and followed them in. Sirius put on the music and everyone started dancing. After a while only the Marauders, Lily, Sarah, Kat and Briana were left.
“Okay, I want to make a toast.” said Sirius, he had gotten pretty drunk, that would be the reason why he was making his sixteenth toast that night. “To love. Love is all around us. Prongse here is the first to marry, shocked is what I’d call it, but he is happily in love to the girl he chased for seven years. And then we have Moony and Wormtail would are both in love, and then there is Briana, who I love very much. So here, to love.” finished Sirius, taking a huge swig from his glass, draining the contents instantly. Everyone, who was used to his toasts by now, pretended to drink a little. Soon their friends left and James and Lily were left.
“So, what do you want to do, Mrs. Potter?” asked James mockingly as he headed towards their bedroom.
“Hmm, let me think about that one, Mr. Potter.” replied Lily sarcastically, pushing James onto their bed and locking the door behind her. Happier than she had ever been that she decided to give James a chance.Finite Incantatem
