Yeah thats right.

Lets wait for CG to give us a good riddle
ChannelingGinny
Aug 13 2008, 04:45 AM
Ok, I was on a short vacation and am now back with internet access.
Here's my puzzle:
Let's say some primitive organisms divide themselves every minute in two equal parts that are the same size as the original organism, and which also divide the next minute and so on. The saucer in which we started observing this process was full at 12.00.
When was it half full?

CG

Aug 13 2008, 11:11 AM
At 11.00h ?
TheLostResource
Aug 13 2008, 08:32 PM
Thats probably right but I can't find a way to solve it.
ChannelingGinny
Aug 14 2008, 02:19 PM
No, 11:00 is not correct.
Keep trying!

CG

Aug 14 2008, 02:25 PM
My guess is that it was 11:59, because if it doubles every minute then it will only take one minute for half the dish to become full.
So yeah. 11:59
TheLostResource
Aug 14 2008, 08:41 PM
Oh! That's right! I've never thought of that before! Would be nice to see one of the blobs though. When I first read the problem I thought half of 12:00.
Fidelis
Aug 15 2008, 11:33 AM
Ohh yeah. I though it said that it doubles every hour

Get in there my son! hehe

Right, let me see ... This isn't that good, but I'll do it anyway, my dad just told me this one the other day.
100 feet up in the air, yet it never left the ground ... what happened?
TheLostResource
Aug 16 2008, 06:12 PM
Maybe an apartment? But it would be floor not ground. If you got sand in? Wait... an apartment isn't in the air.

Okay. I'm thinking that it's a dead centipede.
harry_potter_luvr_4life
Aug 17 2008, 03:01 AM
I have to agree with passerby. A dead centipede makes so much sense.
PottyHead
Aug 17 2008, 04:12 PM
I'm thinking it's a centipede too, but maybe not dead, just flipped over?

EDIT: Has anyone posted?

If we don't hear anything in a day, I'll assume I'm correct and will post another riddle.
passerby
Aug 23 2008, 03:38 PM
Well. . .Maybe she'll come back and tell us if it was a centipede later. For now, I'll post a new riddle. Probably easy, but I'm not so creative with riddles.
While exploring the Forbidden Forest, Sirius Black was captured by hostile wood Nargles.
Smazze, the powerful chief of the Nargles told him he could make one final statement which would determine how he would die.
If the statement he made was false, he would be boiled in water.
If the statement were true, he would be fried in oil.
Sirius Black found neither of the options too his liking, so he made a statement that got him out of this seemingly impossible situation.
What was the statement?
TheLostResource
Aug 25 2008, 01:57 AM
"I will be boiled in water."
The sentence is a paradox.
Explanation:
If it's false that's the false result so it would be true.
If it's true that's the false result making it false.

Thanks. So here's a riddle:
A man shot himself. But then he was still alive. What really happened? I really hope you understand this riddle.
passerby
Aug 25 2008, 06:42 PM
Maybe he's diabetic and has given himself an injection (shot) of insulin?
chhermione
Aug 25 2008, 06:53 PM
Or he shot a photo of himself.
Edit: I mean like he took a photo of himself, like a photo shoot, you get me? Not like he took a gun and shot a picture of himself
TheLostResource
Aug 25 2008, 08:28 PM
No and no. Think a little more creatively. And it was a gun. Well I think chhermione is kind of close
Another edit: Someone post.
passerby
Aug 29 2008, 04:23 AM
He shot his reflection in the mirror?
imctk
Aug 29 2008, 05:38 PM
well maybe he
did shoot a picture of himself... i mean he had a photo of himself in his hand and then he shot it?
TheLostResource
Aug 29 2008, 07:25 PM
Almost! Just change a little. Your almost there. Change a very little bit... and a gun doesn't work as a camera.LOL
imctk
Aug 29 2008, 08:45 PM
ok.... two other options...
a) he is an actor and he shot the TV when his face was on the screen?
or

he is an actor and he shot himself but there was no bullets in the gun... or something, and then they made it look like he shot himself... but he didn't actually..?
Eisa
Aug 30 2008, 01:20 AM
Erm, maybe he shot himself with a water gun of some kind?
I have no idea, sometimes I'm really bad with riddles.

I think up really long, involved answers as to what it might be...and then it turns out to be amazingly simple.

Prior to Cedric's untimely death, he took Cho Chang to her favorite date hang out, Madam Puddifoot's. Cho ordered a cup of the Ambrosia Special Tea, and Severus Snape (who was working there at the time because he was working there as a part of an experimental fanfiction) brought her a bit of tea. She noticed in between gazing at Cedric's beautiful eyes that there was a fly in her tea. She immediately beckoned Snape over and returned the tea to the kitchen. A moment later, Snape returns with more tea. Before Snape can return to the kitchen, Cho draws her wand on Snape. "This is the same cup of tea!" she complains. How did she know?

Um the fly was still in it? Or the designs on the cup were the same?

I'm only going to give it to the person who supplies the whole answer.

You've graciously supplied only a bit of the answer, but someone can probably work with it. Half cheating.

Who's who?
TheLostResource
Sep 1 2008, 02:38 AM
What do you mean by that? 'whos who'
OK here's my answer:
shed put sugar in the tea. then she tasted the second brought tea. it was sweet.

Well heres a riddle
there are 6 people outside only five shadows what happened
PottyHead
Sep 6 2008, 11:20 PM
Is one of them stood in shade so there wouldn't be a shadow?
Ooooh
Or siamese twins, so it's like 2 people but only one shadow?

Well no but good answer. Think where the people were. I hope you get it!
rebel_megz
Sep 7 2008, 05:41 PM
Ok then there's a building - 5 people are on the right side, the other person is on the left side. The sun is shining from the RIGHT side so the 5 people have shadows. However, the person on the left side is still within the shadow of the building?
TheLostResource
Sep 9 2008, 01:01 AM
No they are on the same side. I meant be as in one side.
hot-for-harry
Sep 9 2008, 11:02 PM
Maybe they are all standing on the same side, but the sun is shining towards the other way. So one person's shadow is in the shade!
TheLostResource
Sep 10 2008, 02:14 AM
Almost. It has to do with the sun and the shadow's location.
James, Lily, & Albus Severus
Sep 22 2008, 08:14 PM
okay there could be several answers.
ones prego?
one is standing directly under the sun?
ones a ghost?
one's lying down? or dead?
i really dont know...

First I want to apologise for the '100 feet in the air' riddle in August ... I stupidly posted the day before I went to Italy and I had no internet access

haha but yous got it right, a centipede was on its back

As for the shadow riddle, I'm thinking that four people were standing apart, then two standing together meaning 4 people had a shadow each, and the other 2 shared one. I dunno though

They were standing in the shadow of the building...?
1 of them were standing in the shadow of the building and the other four weren't...? But they were all on one side...
if that makes sense
