Hmm, it would be quite interesting to see someone take a stab at those stereotypical, out of the ordinary fanfictions.

Name of Challenge: Hermione and Draco???
Description of Challenge: A fanfiction about how Hermione and Draco somehow get together. Make it (Harry Potter) realistic and keep everyone in character. Draco is a snob, not the boy at school that everyone lusts after. Hermione is a bit insecure, wise, and loves books; not the girl that changed her style, is sweet and innocent (come on, she punched Malfoy, directed Umbridge into a trap, and fake cried her and her friends out of harm's way), or is naive.
Prefered length: Ten chapters or more, the story is better when it's not rushed.

Hi I would like a short story type fanfic where Professor Umbridge meets Aunt Marge somewhere and they just happen to run into each other.

I wanna see how you would interpret their meeting, Ultimately I wanna see some harsh exchange of words, some similarities between them and the climax should be a fight.

Now this would have to be sometime before Umbridge goes to hogwarts so that she's not traumatized, maybe it can be in the summer before book 5.

Name of Challenge: The Houses of Hogwarts

Description of Challenge:
Four short stories, one for each House of Hogwarts. The protagonist needs to, by the end of the story, exemplify the characteristics and traits of the house the story is intended for. Each story can be completely separate from the other ones and even set in a different time.

Example stories
The Noble Slytherin: A person who avoids the traps and pitfalls of the slytherin house but still retains all of its strengths, eg cunning. A true leader.
The Rabbit of Gryffindor: A rabbit is sometimes considered the symbol of fear that a chicken also represents. Overcomming fear and a noble heart are true Gryfindor traits.
The Lazy Hufflepuff: What if you didn't really fit in any house?
The Silly Ravenclaw: What is it about Luna that makes her a Ravenclaw when the whole house is renowned for it's intelectuals?

Of particular interest would be the houses that we don't know that well, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Lots more freedom there.

Prefered length:
Longer than too short, and shorter than too long. I have no idea how long a short story should be in words count.

I keep expecting something like this to be done by JKR as a sort of anthology, with other famous fantasy writers writing the stories, leaving her to finish the series but giving us more stories in Harry's universe. Wishful thinking, I know, but wouldn't that be great?

Description of Challenge- Harry meets a Death Eater who was forced to join into Voldemort's Side. She tries to help Harry who is looking for the Horcruxes since she knows everything about Voldy (or enough). He starts getting feelings for her but she (supposively) is in a relationship with Draco. Show both sides of the story.

Length- atleast 8 chapters

Description: Tell Argus' Filch'es story. Why he is at Hogwarts. Whyhe hates the students. Why he loves Mrs. Norris so...And whose side does he fght on in the final battle?

Length: To tell this tale accuratly, it would need to be well over 2500 words. But hey...someone out there could do it in less, I am sure.

Well I don't really have a specific Idea and even though I'm really keen on writing I can rarely get ideas but Harry Potter fics that are both about Harry Potter and not about Harry Potter are good too.
I mean they can have Harry Potter characters but are not sitiuated in Hogwarts.
An example could be My sisters fanfic. Its called 'The Salem Witch Trials' on mugglenet. Its about Harry, Ron and Hermione who get transported back in time to the Salem Witch Trials. They have to face all that persecution people of that time who were accused of witch craft faced. I advise everyone not to copy this Fanfic entirely but take it as an Idea.
I mean you could write a fanfic about reincarnation of a character [an idea which can be written but one I may take up as well]. Or something like that.

Description of Challenge: I really want to see a romance fiction with Harry falling in love with a muggle girl he met on the street, but she figures out that he is a wizard and pretends to be a witch and he beleves her. When Harry thinks she is a witch and she likes him back, he dates her. (Though, she does like him) I am not sure if anyone will take that idea, as I am too busy to start it myself and I can't write, but I hope someone likes it.

Prefered length: More then four chapters is all I am asking. I would like to see more, but some people write so well and such long chapters they can put a story like that in. I really do not care too much as long as the story is complete.

I have never done a ship before, but this idea tempts me. Why? I dont know, but it does...

Description of Challenge: Write a fan fiction about the founders. Describe the life of each one in detail. Starting withe their birth, ending with their death. One is a Lord, one is a Lady, and one is a Prince, but has deserted his life as a prince. The other is a pesent. At least one would have a mean father. Action, adventure, mystery, drama, and romance have to be in it.

Description: Well write about her when she was younger, for a bizare reason I seem to have a picture of her in my mind as a previous hippie! Then the writer will post back in this thread saying that they have completed the one shot and they provide a link.

Romilda is trying desperately to get Harry to go out with her, and Ginny is trying to get Harry back. Harry is pressured on all sides, and goes on a wild rampage, murdering all who are guilty of bugging him, and those who are innocent. The rest is up to you.

I want so badly to write a SS/HG SHIP fic... but I just don't think that I could ever compare to Snaplover's fics ... They are just too good. I don't wanna be "the girl who wrote the SS/HG fic that paled in comparison to Snapelover's"...

So, I was thinking about writing a Lily/James fic (set in the time of the marauder's seventh year)... maybe throwing a little Sirius and Snape jealousy into the mix. Any ideas, guys? If someone just gives me a basic challenge, I will run with it...

Sorry! I don't know where else to post this question, but I thought you who knew lots about fanfics here might be able to help. Last December, there was a contest where it gave prompts for fanfics and I haven't been able to find any information or mention of it since! It would give ideas for fanfics, like this forum does, so I thought some of you might know!

Sereese - any information on the fanfic comp run by the main site has currently been archived here until Snapelover (I believe) can get round to sorting through the entries. I think the original runner of the comp did a bunk, so you may need to be very patient with Mel as I think she was dumped in head first and has a lot to sort out.

Mel's on a break at the moment, only poping in from time to time, but I believe she left updates in the archived thread so people would know what's happening.

As this is a challenge board, a challenge for someone would be to write a fanfic about James Potter, his friends, and anyone else's first year of Hogwarts. (What about Dumbledore's? ) That would be very interesting, especially since JK Rowling has said she wouldn't do a prequel.

Sareese I like your idea and I would accept it but there is one problem....I already have a fan fic up already which I'm caught up with at the moment but when I finish it I was thinking of starting a fic that involves Voldemort and his first years at Hogwarts. What do you say will you be able to wait a few months??? I don't mind if someone else takes up your challenge but I'm sticking to my idea of Voldemort.
