well i have been re-reading the 6th book and i came across something that made me think....and i wanted you people to know what i came across..so yeah..here goes..
i read the part when dumbledore put up his hand in the thin air (in the cave) and felt a invisible rope and pulled it then the boat came..and when harry asked how he knew there was an invisible rope there..he just said that magic leaves traces..do you have ideas about what the magical traces are?i know i dont (

Someone with as much power as Dumbledore can "feel" magic, if you will. He can detect the traces left behind by the magic. The traces the magic leaves behind are, I believe judging by Dumbledore's actions, a sort of emission of power where the magic was performed. An intelligent wizard can sense this emission of power from the spell on the object it was performed on and find hidden objects as Dumbledore did.

thanks for your answer Brungardt..i think you may be right..but i'll see when other's reply to me and if they all agree with you then i guess you're right..your answer does seem very right though..dumbledore is very strong so he may detect these sort of emissions that a wizard leaves behind when he does a spell.....
come on people..i need replies! :[

I agree with Brungardt. It's like a feeling, something you can sense. Dumbledore being the powerful and intelligent wizard he is, I'm sure he can "sense" magic. You know that feeling you get when a tv is turned on? I suppose it's something like that, when a peice of magic is active, you could probably sense it...

Albus Dumbledore was the greatest wizard in the world. He studied Horcrux's and Voldemorts Horcrux's for the longest time ever,he must have found out from his studies. He probaly spent...years working on that subject.

I think it'd be sort of like that, how even if you don't have the volume on and aren't looking at the tv when its turned on you get a feeling of it being there and active. It'd probably be the same thing with the magic.

Well, a wizard with as much power as Dumbledore should be able to sense magic, and the trail it leaves. There are other moments when he should have sensed things happening, like in the GOF, but I don't know why he did not. I would say that because LV left the rope there for his own use that DD was able to sense that the magic was there, and that he would be able to use the magic to his advantage. Not sure why he didn't sense all magic though, but in certain situations he was able to sense things, especially in the aspect of magic being used to leave a trail.

Dark Magic leaves signs where it was performed. Albus Dumbledore is a great wizard and probably he could sense it.

dumbledore is just amazing and he can do whatrever he wants. and don't you sometimes get the feeling he can see invisible things? like in cos he looked directly at harry/ron under tthe cloak and said something about help or whatnot...so i think he's just awesome and therfor can do just about anything he wants to.

I agree with MISIA because Dumbledore was amazing. I also agree with everyone else because Dumbloredore could sence the magic because he is so awsome.

I know that he was amazing no doubts about it but still there must be something that has caused him seeing or sensing it..
because we all know that DD used "Homonum Revelio" when he suspected that there was someone invisible in the room..thats why he knew it was the trio (as noone else had the cloak)..not because he was..amazing..lol..that is just why he came up with the idea to use it.
