Moon(I luv you Luna)
I believe that they felt something back in first year, when they first meet. Nothing like feelings, but a sort of ... something like, maybe feeling guilty that they like talking to each other more than Harry or something simple like that.

I reakon Ron liked Hermione first-in second year when he sees Hermione petrified (sp?). Then i think Hermione started liking Ron in third-when Ron says he'll help in Buckbeaks case and she basically breaks down onto his shoulder. laugh.gif

I Think Hermione would have thought it was some silly crush that would go away after time, but then realised it must be something more after the Yule Ball fiasco. I think Ron realised with the Lav-Lav incident.

Of course book 7 is where it gets juicey (sp?). This is where i believe they realised that they really loved each other. And as in more than friends. Of course they've known it for ages, but only really hit them until then, you know? tongue.gif

Ahh ... the beauty of being able to do this ... being able to look back through the years and show how their relationship has developed. That's the beauty of R/Hr, as i've said before. happy.gif
MissRandom
I love the Hermione/Ron ship...so awesome. tongue.gif

I think they didn't know in first year. I think they realized something was....different, but not anything big. I don't think it really hit Ron until 2nd year that sometime was 'different' either, but Hermione knew. And then come 4th year Ron was noticing more and more...5th year wasn't too much of a change....but he was still mad about Krum and all. biggrin.gif And then 6th year it all just started going! Very happy. 7th year....

Isn't it great!? blush.gif
cristipotter
yeah I don't think they knew it in 1st year...I actually think they didn't like each other that much! I think it happened at the end of second year / beggining of third year... and was revealed in 4th year... 5th year it grew and in 6th year Harry considered them as a couple...

So basically they were flirting with each other in their 7th year.
I_Suspect_Nargles
So...anyone besides me dying to know what Ron's Amortentia is? We know Harry's and Hermione's so why not Ron's?
#1_pottergrl
I definetly think that Ron and Hermione didn't start liking each other (other than as friends) until the third book. Then JKR gave us slight hints about their relationship in each book until the sixth when it became quite evident that they liked each other. I would also like to know what Ron's Amortentia is, that would be really interesting. (At first I had no idea what that was, and then I remembered!)

Oh, I'd love to know! JKR should do another of those answering questions thingy she did the other day at Scholastic I think it was... I think it'd be Hermione's hair? since she smelled his hair in the amortentia wub.gif (Jo Rowling said so) or maybe the library or something that reminded Ron of her..! And what else would he smell? Hmm... huh.gif

Wow, this question is really killing me, I had never thought about it before, but now that I do...I would really love to know! My weakness is being very VERY curious!

Ron's amortentia ... i'd say, the smell of his old teddy bear (That Fred turned into a spider), because that was his comfort (Of some sort), the smell of the Quidditch Pitch changing rooms, or perhaps the Burrow ... and something to do with Hermione most probably. Maybe the smell of books, because it reminds him or her. Something like that. happy.gif

Actually, she said Hermione probably smelled some sort of hair, she never said if it was Ron's or not.

Maybe Ron'd smell that perfume he gave Hermione back in Order of the Pheonix? mellow.gif

Welcome, chicgeek, I love your name, and I_Suspect_Nargles. The question of Ron's Amortentia, other than his favorite desert, broomsticks, or the honey suckel that grows around his house, Hermione, obiviously. Maybe she's a bit of a combination, what she smell like. Whatever shampoo and/or soap she uses with ink, parchment, and books, both new and musty. I love the smell of books, I know that make me sound werid, but I do!
#1_pottergrl, I think they liked eachother as friends before then! Hermione sent Ron a letter at the start of CoS, I doubt it was the first of that summer. I think that why they butted heads so much was because, even at an early age, the opinion of the other matter so much. That's why I think that it could only been Ron who made Hermione desolve into tears after that fateful Charms lesson in their thrid year.
Venom, yes...all kinds of flirting in book 7.
Moon, you stole my answer, for the locket thing! Look at what I wrote before you! I kid, wink.gif.

Actually J.K DID say it was Ron's hair. I believe the question was like What was the third smell Hermione smelled in her Amortentia?(ie what essense of Ron)? and J.K answered,"I think it was his hair.".

Actually, in an interview I think, Jo said the third smell of Hermione's amortentia was actually Ron...and when they asked her what it was, she said "I don't know...probably his hair" ...LOL! So cute
MissRandom
Okay, I officially checked:
What was the third smell that hermione smelt in the amortentia potion in hbp (ie the particular essence of ron)?
I think it was his hair. Every individual has very distinctive-smelling hair, don't you find?

So, you were right, Nargles. happy.gif

Haha, sorry Ellen, i was going to credit you for that idea, but then thought "Eh, she'll know, right?" laugh.gif Either that or my fingers were tired from typing. I'm way too lazy for my own good.

Yes, i believe it was Ron's hair Hermione smelt as said in that online chat-thingy. I have to say, i was sure Hermione smelt something that had to do with Ron, and i was right! Well, we were all right ...

Oh and welcome to everyone! We can never have enough R/Hr-ers here in-where else? The R/Hr thread ... (as my friend would say: "Nah ... you think?!" rolleyes.gif ) happy.gif

I don't know...she seemed very excited to jump on the subject when asked about ships ('How do you think it will end?' "Oh, I just want it all to be happy- everyone lives, and Hermione will get with Ron and have their little scene and stuff!")! wink.gif But I don't know how she feels in real life. Daniel said that there 'Was a time back when we were like 13/14 and we all fancied the hell out of each other, but that's over now' so maybe it really is. Then again, he's only one person and the other two just seem to avoid the question (Rupert in particular).

Weather or not they get together in real life or are even remotely interested in each other, I really hope they pull it off well. By the time there is a kissing scene it'll be 2010 and they'll all be better at acting. So, hopefully, personal life won't get in the way TOO much! happy.gif

Amyrat151
Yeah if the pictures at the premires of PoA of Dan and Emma are any indacation of the time the "all fancied the hell out of each other." But they don't seem quite as flirty anymore and both Emma and Dan maintain that they're nothing but friends, so I think that it is over, whatever it was.
But yeah, the kissing scene is no less than two years away of being flimed, Emma and Rupert definetly have time to get used to kissing the other. And it reminds me of something Nicole Kidman once said, how she was nervous to sing in fornt of people when she was fliming Moulin Rouge, but once she stepped into her character, she wasn't scared anymore. So I guess Emma should think in terms of "it's Hermione kissing Ron," not her kissing Rupert.
cristipotter
Emma and Rupert should get over it really! It's acting! LOL! I loved how Dan reacts to the question "C'mon, guys! You know you'll have to do it!!" it is so funny he just wants to point at them and laugh!

I love Dan! but that's not the point...by 2010, they'll be mature enough, and Emma and Rupert should just, forget their true identities for a moment, get into Ron and Hermione, and kiss...

Yvonne_HP_RBD
haha i remember in an interview rupert was asked if there would be any off-screen romance that will come with the ron and hermione kiss and rupert said "i dont know we will have to wait and see i guess" tongue.gif

i think that ron and hermione loved each other since the first book but not in a romantic way
i think they first started to see each other in a romatic way in GOF well ron anyways because he realized that she was a girl and he started getting jeolous of krum
Hermione might have devoloped these feeling around that time too but i am sooo happy that they finnaly get together
Amyrat151
cristi, I love Dan too. And he also said, with a wide smile and a laugh in his vocie "come on, you'll be fine!" Yeah and it'll be late 2009, early 2010 when they flim the kissing scene, there's a good amount of time for them to get used to it.
Yvonne_HP_RBD, I suppose it's hard to pin down when they realized that they had romantic feelings for eachother, but I think Hermione figured it out before Ron.
Venom
Why do you think that Ron and Hermione didn't reveal their feelings to each other in the 7th book?

Well, I don't think SPEW is THAT important, I'm sure they'll find something else to say...maybe something about Grawp, since Hermione seemed to like him very much in the Ootp film? (And Ron is jealous of him so...)

Amyrat151
To answer Vemon's question, I think it was a mix of bad timing and insecurity. I think that Hermione figured her feelings for Ron in third year, so she knew by the Yule Ball that she wanted Ron to ask her, but didn't think he'd return her feelings, so excepted Victor's invitation. Ron had feelings for her, but didn't know/was to happy denying them. But at the Yule Ball he was forced to admit to himself that he wished he was the one dancing with her. Bad timing.
After that, even though both knew their feeling they weren't ready to see if the other would return them, insecurity. Than 5th year came around, they were able to get along well, cleaning, trying to hear what the Order was up to, and worrying about Harry at Grimauld Place at the start. And then they went back to school that had a full stock of stresses, OWLs, Prefect duties, Umbridge, Voldemort, CAPSLOCK! Harry, and Keeping goals on Ron's side. Not exactly a conducive environment to build a relationship, Bad timing. Hermione showed signs of being frustrated at Ron's lack of action to do something, but she failed to act as well, save for kissing him on the check.
I think that at the battle in the DoM, Hermione figured that they could die whenever, she loves Ron, and life's to short. That's why she was going to ask him to Slughorn's party. Which they were going to go to together, but... Ron found out Hermione did kiss Krum, and really didn't wait around for him, like Ron may have done for her. I'm sure Lavender wasn't the first girl to eye him. And another attack of bad timing! We know what happened then. At the end of HBP, I think Ron knew he loved Hermione, and knew she had feelings for him, and Hermione knew his feelings, so they reached an unspoken agreement not to be with anyone else.
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «

That's how I see it.
I agree with MissRandom and cristi, that whoever is directing, Steven Kloves, Rupert, and/or David Heyman will come up with something before the moment. And I can see Daniel saying something very like that as well.
Moon, thank you, I was kidding with that before, you know.
cristi, the way you described it, it sounds really funny.

I really agree with this. R/Hr-made for each other, but incredibly bad at timing. That should be our motto if we don't have one ... Lol. laugh.gif

I read a theory (So not my credit) that the books were based on affection and rejection (Or aomething like that). Like it went like this:

1st: The starting of a friendship
2nd: Ron sees the importance of their friendship
3rd: Hermione sees the importance of their friendship
4th: Hermione realises feeling for Ron
5th: Ron realises feelings for Hermione
6th: Both try to get the other
7th: Both finally get the other

Oh it was something along the lines of that. I think it sort of fits-what do we think? happy.gif
Amyrat151
I'm not fully sure that's how it went down. I think that Ron realised his feeling at the Yule Ball, though. Whatever, I'm not fully sure that's how it all worked with them, but that's just what I think, and unless JK says something different, that's what I'm going with.

Creamy Coconut
I think Ron and Hermione are so cute together! It's obvious, and Ron gets so jealous all the time, like especially at the Yule Ball in the fourth book. They have petty fights like couples, and Ron needs Hermione and Hermione needs Ron to appreciate her, because she seems to like fixing messes that Harry and Ron get into, and everyone knows Ron would get into a lot. Their differences are what makes them more perfect together. Couples are supposed to be what the other one lacks, but be able to relate to each other by having some details the same. wub.gif

I thought of that too, how the comment in DH is like the one in PS. It's JK coming full circle with their relationship. Someone should ask her if she took more joy in writting R/Hr or H/G. I love Harry and Ginny together, and at the end of it all I wouldn't have it any other way, but when I first read books 1-5, I could live with Harry ending up with someone who wasn't Ginny, but I've always really loved Ron and Hermione.
Moon I wonder if they'll play with Ron telling Hermione he loves her. Like putting it at the end of HBP when he means it for real.

Maybe they'll make them hold hands at the funeral? I honestly have no idea what they'll do with R/Hr in the next film, but I'm not worried at all since the R/Hrness was OH SO PERFECT in Ootp...

Same with me! I've always liked how Ron and Hermione fit together, even when I wasn't a very huge fan...but before I didn't really know who Harry would end up with (I always thought Cho...) but hey! I was really surprised with HBP...and with time I've grown very, very fond of this ship, even as fond as I am with R/Hr...

Possibly. I'd like to think they'd put in the whole joking thing, but have Hermione all embarressed and awkward. At the funeral, i imagine Ron and Hermione hugging each other and crying, while Harry's talking to Ginny, and you can see them in the background. Then after, you'd have Harry walk back to Ron and Hermione, and Ron'll be saying something along the lines of "It's ok, it's ok-we can get through this, i'll protect you" or something sweet. Then he'll say something tactless (Because that's just Ron) and she'll either get annoyed, but grateful, or laugh. Either way. happy.gif
Amyrat151
Cristi, nice to know someone else shared my views. I always hoped for H/G, but like I said...
Moon, I have faith that R/Hr will be done up right in HBP as well. I think Ron saying something sweet than tactless would be great.
I wonder when we'll know who plays Lavender, fliming starts in September. How do you picture her?

I think that R/Hr will be given justice in HBP--as long as they don't hit the cheesy stuff too hard. I really don't want to see any cutesy-poo stuff in the next movie, because it really shouldn't be there. I know we know how this ship turns out, but I don't want that to effect the way it plays out in the next movie. I want all the hateful comments, the birds, the jokes, the jealousy, everything. Course...the movie is supposed to be about Harry, but who needs him right? whistling.gif

I also think the I love you line from HBP will make it in the movie. If they included the teaspoon one and the "most wonderful person ever" line or whatever it was, they should include that. However, it will only happen if the scene makes it into the movie. And as I recall, that scene requires elves, doesn't it?

Lavender...for some reason I've always pictured her sort of like a skinnier, prettier Pansy. Short, dark hair. Pale complexion. I dunno. That's just me.
