I don't know if it really was priori incantatem, but it looked exactly like in GoF when Harry and LV had it.

The more I think about this film the more I can look beyond the cuts and the changes and see that it actually is a spectacular film! I wouldn't say it was the best. The best films were the first two, granted SFX weren't as good, Chris Columbus was the best director HPs had so far. He really did only cut the absolute, most irrelavent, well not irrelavent but the less significant of minor plot lines in the films.

I was expecting a masterpiece from Yates. I failed to see that the film was a brilliant film, it still had important information, the prophecy was still explained though, unfortunatley, not as dramatic or emotional as in the book. I cried my eyes out in the book during the Harry/DD scene, all of Harry's frustration during the book had seem to become my own frustration and when he finally let it out at the end, its was like a releif for me also. I didn't get that from the movie because unfortunatley David Yates cut that scene down, a little too much. Despite my criticisms, I do think DY is a really good director and, depending on the cuts made, I expect HBP to be a brilliant film. And, unfortunatley, though there was a lot information and explanations, there weren't enough for me really.

So I do, actually, love OotP, I just don't love the cuts and changes (and, to be a harsh critic, the mistakes in the film). But that's me thinking as a hardcore HP fan tongue.gif I do expect great things from Yates in HBP.

I have to say I agree with Just Harry. I was incredibly disappointed in the OOTP movie. I will not see it again, and I'll pass on the DVD. Let's hope HBP returns to the excellence we expect.
aleja23
I saw the movie yesterday, and I like it, I think it was a good adaptation, although there were cuts, but I think the main point of the book was there.
I like it better than the goblet of fire film, and even if imagined things a little different I think it was a good film.
I also like the Ron/Hermione parts, that was pretty nice, like the time ron tolds grawp to let her go xD that was so their moment.

I expected Harry more upset and sad at the last part of the film like in the book, when he's angry and dissapointed and all kind of emotions inside him, but that is not a really big part so it's not really important, that's why the books are amazing, you see the real story, you see action in a different level and they're more intense.

MrsMalfoy
Woohoo my very first post ever! Okay, here we go ...

What I liked about OotP:
  • the fact that most of the scenes were 'present' in the movie, even though some of them were often too short and too fast
  • the dementors.. whiiiii happy.gif
  • the awful yet hilarious dress of aunt Petunia
  • the look on Ginny's face when she saw Harry and Cho... great link to the next movie
  • the Thestrals...and definitely the little one, too cute!
  • the kiss... awwww wub.gif
  • the twins and their escape
  • Umbridge all the way !
  • Michael Gambon, finally beginning to act like the real Dumbledore
  • the fight between DD and Voldie
  • Umbridge to Harry (centaur-scene): 'Tell them that I'm a good person!'
Harry: 'I mustn't tell lies, professor'
    Awsome laugh.gif
  • Kreacher! Even more ugly than I imagined
  • ...
What I didn't like about OotP:
  • Cho as beeing the tell-tale of DA... what was that all about?! Really now, that was just rude!
  • Daniel acting like a softy.. I was looking forward to see furious Harry screaming at Hermione and Ron and Dumbledore and ...
  • The prophecy: Harry takes it and Trelawney's voice begins
What the ...?? ohmy.gif And what about 'and he will mark him as his equal' and the fact that Neville almost was The Boy Who Lived?!
  • People who haven't read the book might not know what The Order Of The Phoenix actually is, 'cause they hardly even mention it
  • Sirius killed by Avada Kedavra?! blink.gif Now how are they gonna try to bring him back, if that will happen in book 7? Well done... not! huh.gif
So, conclusion: way better movie than GoF, some scenes could have been better, but none the less, good job Yates smile.gif

Good point - which leads me to believe (I hate to say it) that Sirius really isn't going to come back - at all. The film makers consult JKR about details they're going to put in, for instance: they were thinking of cutting Kreacher, but JKR said not a good idea. I think if the AK curse was not a good idea, for that precise reason, JKR would have said so...

Sirius Black: RIP. sad.gif
carpysports14
Just harry said everything for me. I beleive this was the 2nd worste movie so far. The details were so far from accurate, it wasn't even funny. I don't know how to make a spoiler tag, so I'll just say these. The hallway to the department of mysteries was completely different than it was described, the dementors didn't even look like they used to, the allyway and scenery in the begining was terrible, like just dumbledore said, if people hadn't read the book, they wouldn't know what the ootp was. I swear that was a defferent castle inside, they cut out so many details that would have only taken a second to shoot and would have made a big difference, and everything was way too dark. The book wasn't even that dark. Overall, I think they better have the sixth book make up for it(the sixth is my favorite) because if they don't, it will completely ruin the last three movies.
Medea
It was a good movie, however, it was not able to show all the thriller and political critics Rowling wrote in the book. As usual, the produces had to "shorten" the plot, and we missed many things. I've read many articles about the movie saying how dark it was, but believe me, the book is much darker, Dolores Umbridge's horrible behavior was in a certain way showed lighter (although Imelda Staunton was, by far, the best performer in the movie). I missed Dobby, I missed Cho's friend who betrayed her friends. Daniel, Rupper and Emma are more mature and this is good. I do hope the Half blood prince movie, will last longer so that we can enjoy better the plot.
In the book there is a crescendo that makes us hate Dolores, applaud George and Fred, fear Voldemort and his disgusting friends, and say hooray when the Weasley twins break all the rules in Hogwarts. In the movie, all that was a litte frustrating.
chazgriffin101
I thought by far the fifth installment of the harry potter films was the best. Maybe not the best book of the series; but the director did an amazing job creating this film.
Hermy932011
i loved the new film. i thought it was the best yet. although there were alot of cuts! i wasn't very happy about that.like the room w/the brains that ron gets scars from. it wasn't a very important point but i think it would have been interesting to see on screen. bellatrix didn't kill sirius before he fell through the veil in the book mad.gif! what was up with that? Cho wasn't the one to rat out the DA either. there wasn't some major acne going on either! no dobby either! he is kind of important in HBP. oh and what happened to Umbridge cancelling quidditch and taking harry, fred, and george's brooms? the swamp scene would have been cool too. idk..it was really good but they cut out WAY too much! the book is better by far but the movie was still VERY good. as i said at the beginning of this post the best yet. but i am agreeing w/ carpysports14 on the special effects and things like that but i guess, we all have different views. w/the park scence though think back to PoA. it was completeley different. even in a different area! oh i almost forgot. umbridge didn't look 'toad' enough to me.. tongue.gif

There were many others. I'd have to say this movie was not very true to the book, and could have been better.

And I wanted to stand up and applaud the Weasley twins at the end.

Best line of the movie (and the book, too):

okay. i just posted a little while ago and then i read this. i completeley agree w/ your despised list except the percy spying thing.. i too wanted to applaud the fred and george but i think it would've been better if they would've been banned from quidditch and flying just to make umbridge even more mad. but i can't seem to remember who said that about dumbledore. which may i add is one of my favorite lines in the book and the movie too.
even though there are so many differences i still thought is was good.

CrazyNutt-Nutt actually my name
that movie sucked!i'm so disappointed!but there were a couple scenes that i really liked.
-i loved the possession scene, that was so good, and i loved it when Harry said that he felt sorry for Voldie.

-Voldie/Dumbledore duel could've been better, loads better.

-Fred and George's finale was great!loved that bit, and how it went all silent and Umbridge was looking out the door, then out of no where Fred and George whizz past.the fireworks were really good, and i liked Flitwick's enthusiasm.

-Seamus' scenes were good, but there could've been more anger i think.

-Luna was perfect, Evanna Lych is definitely the only one for the job.and i liked it when her shoes were hanging from an archway or something.

-Harry and Luna's relationship was portrayed well, and you could see how they seemed to have this understanding with eachother.

-Neville needed to be stronger, and more of a quick learner.he spoke of his parents wit the right emotions, and i liked Harry saying, 'we'll make them proud Neville. That's a promise'.

-the kiss was a good scene, you could see the awkwardness and everything.

but in general the movie was just too fast.way too fast.one minute we're seeing Dementors the next we're flying, and at the Headquarters, then meeting Luna.mostly i think that the flashbacks were pretty good, specially at the possession, but i think there could've been more to Snape's humiliation, because people who haven't read the books wouldn't understand properly.and when Sirius said 'nice one James', that was a good way of showing how much Harry appeared to be like James, but again, i think people wouldn't really get it.Petunia should've have got her howler, because it shows that she knows more of Dumbledore than what there seems to be.Dumbledore should have shown Harry the prophecy and explained everything properly.Harry needed to be way more angry and alone.Hagrid needed to explain more.they didn't explain what the Inquisitorial Squad was.they didn't say why Umbridge was interviewing teachers, unless i was so bored that i missed that bit.speaking of bored, sometimes i was watching certain scenes, and felt like i was meant to be more involved.i mean the music was brilliant, i just wasn't really feeling what i think i should have been sometimes.loved Bella, but there should have been a mass break-out.Ginny was magically too well developed, not by much, just a bit.as i said before there should have been more progress for Neville.Sirius should've just gone through the veil, and i think that they could've made that bit better.like to just hear the music wasn't enough, like maybe they could've had Harry's screaming in it too, but the emotion that you could see was good.Lupin should've had more to the movie, and he should've have been teary over the death.i think that they could've helped what all the 'Weasley & Weasley' stuff was for, though they were pretty good.and now i'm just too tired to carry on, i can't even rant properly, which is something that i quite enjoy to do sometimes, and something that my family and friends seem to enjoy mad.gif they start laughing at me, then it ruins my rant because then i start laughing. well that's it, can't do anymore.but most of what i reme,er were the things that i did NOT like.not at all.

There were a lot of nice little humorous parts I really enjoyed, too.
I'm very pleased with it and I can't wait to buy the DVD. I want to see what they cut as well.
Arabella Doreen Figg
I like all of the movies, including this one.

The only one I've loved was Sorcerer's Stone, however. Maybe it's just the awe of the children at being at Hogwarts, maybe it's the fact that, for the most part, they get to be children, I don't know. But to me, Sorcerer's Stone did the best job of presenting the magic of the "Harry Potter world". Not the spells, but just the magic that is Hogwarts, and Dumbledore, and Snape and McGonagall and Quidditch and. . . (need I go on?).

I think all of the movies have been very well done, and I was not disappointed by Goblet of Fire. I think that that movie did a very good job of being true to the spirit of the novel, even if it wasn't purely canonical.

I believe this movie was made nearly as well as it could have been. I, like mayfair, think the movie could have been vastly improved by an extra 20-30 minutes, which would have kept it shorter than three hours... For the most part, I'm not bothered by the changes to canon that were made in the translation from book to film (what works in a book doesn't always work on-screen and vice versa) but I felt that the entire film was frenetic. So much had to be covered that I often felt that a scene hadn't been given quite the time it needed to be developed. The essential bits were presented, and *poof* we were off to something else.

One major canonical change that bothered me, specifically was the
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «

One thing I find brilliant in the canonical changes are the things that get attributed to Neville.
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «

It's a fantastic way to develop Neville's character, reminding us that we could very easily be reading the story of "Nevile Longbottom and the Order of the Phoenix" instead.

I guess my personal largest complaint is that the battle in the Department of Mysteries seemed to be the BIG thing for the film, but in the novel the things that lead up to it and that follow it are just as big. Screen-time doesn't allow for that, I realize, but just a few more minutes in a few key scenes could have made the whole thing feel more magical...

I do have to admit, however that this part of the battle was so in keeping with the spirit of the character that I almost cheered out loud for Yates.
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «

I guess, the Department of Mysteries battle left me feeling as if too much focus had been placed on the spell-casting and not enough on developing the magical world. And face it; that's why most of us love Harry Potter. In three sentences JKR can completely remove you from the actual world and place you in another. That is her biggest gift, and while the film was great, Yates doesn't (for me) have an equal gift...
Snape_is_guilty
Wow I agree that it was a great movie!!! I'm going to see it again soon as well!!!

Well I know that they can't put everything in (otherwise we'd have a 7 hour movie) but I think they could've done a little bit better.

1. The D.A.~Cho wasn't the one in the book who told Umbridge, it was her friend. Everyone got mad at Cho and that's not how they fell apart in the book. Cho and Harry were arguing about Cho's friend.
2. The scenes moved too fast. I hated the Daily Prophet snippets with the expection of Fudge.
3. Ron and Hermione were suppose to be prefects and that wasnt mentioned at all!!
4. After Harry saw Mr Wealsey attacked, he left to go to Headquarters. In the movie Snape took him right away and started the lessons. I wish they would've shown the part when Snape and Sirius get in each other's faces at Headquarters.
5. I guess there is so much to the book that they can't add Quidditch anymore. There was nothing about that at all!!

There are other reasons why but overall very good movie they should have just stayed more to the book. I absolutely adored Snape, he is so funny with his seriousness!!
novello
The best line of the movie...

"Albus...Percival...Wulfric...BRIAN..." The audience in the theater lost it...as did I.
Crazy_4_the_news
I was completely disapointed in the movie. It was way to short. They cut all the building blocks of the movie. They didn't explain anything properly!!
dumbledore_girl
I`m from Romania & here we'll see the movie on 20th this month

I heard that it was the best of all the movies.. I hope it's true
hermiones twin
I loved it! The best so far.

The movies and books as well are not 'magic' books anymore hey, they are so much darker and more I dunno 'mature'. When the first book came out it was kinda a kids book. So not anymore! The movie captured this dark side of HP so well!!

People said they missed out heaps in the movie (like in GOF) but c'mon, can you really compare the movies to the books?? They did a fab job!
Animagus_Black
This has to be one of the funniest moments in the movie. After the DD vs LV battle when fudge arrives and LV apparates and Fudge goes 'He's Back!', I could not stop laughing....
Mrs Sirius
there was one word for it, GREAT!! I absolutely loved it and thought it was the best so far. I think the relationship between harry and sirius was portrayed really well and i thought the whole ministry sceen was really good too. However, bit dissapointed with how quickly the attack on arther weasley went by because in the book it was really good. Also like many other people i think that there should have been a longer scene with dumbledore explaining what the prophecy meant to harry at the end! but overall the best film yet and im going to see it again tomorrow and can't wait biggrin.gif

In fact the makers did seem to have shot enough footage for a three hour movie. Though not the most accurate of sources always, Wikipedia does give some useful information such as one found

It's evident that those scenes would make it to some future DVD release in the form of special edition or something like that. But looking back at the deleted scenes in Goblet of Fire movie, I cannot recall a single scene that actually incorporated the portions from the book left out in the movies. Instead they were mostly extra stuff around some of the scenes in the movie itself. For instance, that movie had the entire hippogriff song cut out only to be reinstated. But my contention is that such stuff doesn't add much to the movie and if the footage had been shot without budgetary or time constraints, wouldn't it be better to actually include some if not all the portions from the book that were excluded? They may not make it to the theatrical release, but the fans would have satisfaction seeing those events on DVD. But then it may have something to do with the way movie production works
PottyHead
I think, I can put up with some of the scenes not being there, I still wish they were there but they couldn't have possibly put everything into the movie.

I thought it was the best Potter movie yet! The whole movie was great, they left out some bits I hoping they'd keep it, namely the Weasley's quote to Peeves in the books as they left in a blaze of fireworks, but all in all I can't complain, it was and is a fantastic film!
hp1
I thought the movie was ok- I mean it was good and all but they left out soooo many things
I belive the movie was too short to fully do the book justice...if the movie producuers could have made the movie like 20 min longer or something, they could have made the movie loads better. A lot of the little funny things the characters said were cut that i was looking forward to seeing, and i thought they would have shown more of harry and dumbledore in his office at the end and show harry being more angry and confused becuase see how harry changes emotionally in the 5th book is what makes it a really good book
The Grounds Keeper
I liked the new movie. Only the same old complaint... to short! They should make 2 movies regular one and a 7 hour one and charge triple price. I'd pay no problem. I loved the fact that Fred and George got more time in this movie. I have always thought the were cut out too much. From earlier movies. They are great with thier pranks and jokes in the books but almost unmentioned in most of the movies.
HP number one Fan
I thought that it was the best one so far. However there was a lot which was cut out and the film wasnt that long anyway...Im sure they could have put in an extra 15 minutes....look at Lord of the Rings and Spider- Man 3!!! I loved it when Snape was looking into Harry's mind and he was hugging Sirius and Snape said "I May Vomit" HAHAHA I love hiM!

I think that Snape should have had more time in the lime light with his Occlumency lessons and his worst memory. If he does turn out to be evil then people who haven't read the books wont really understand why. I mean Alan is a BRILLIANT actor and perfect for playing Snape but they limit what he says/ does so much that we only really get the impression that Snape is a nasty git and not evil which is the impression which the books give off. I WANT MORE SNAPE! haha ! I would also like to have seen him and Sirius have the really big fight at the Orders Head Quaters.

I think that Grawp was poorly done. I imagined him to look more human, he looked like a combination of something out of a cartoon and the mountain trolls.

Ginny's character STILL hasn't been developed. I mean in the next one she is going to be flirting and kissing Harry. We still havent seen that transition from her being a shy quiet distant admirer of Harry's to a head strong confident boy magnet ( as she is described in the books) Its going to be difficult to show her maturing in the next film, for people who havent read the books it wont make sense when Harry suddenly starts going out with her when she never really interacted with him much.

Sirius' death was too quick. If they had followed the book where Bella tries to hit him but misses and he makes a joke about it and then she succeeds and kills him it would have made a better affect. I didn't know if he was dead or not until Harry started yelling.

Also what happened to "Weasley is our kin" song? I was really looking forward to that! laugh.gif

Other than that it was brilliant! I suppose they couldn't fit in everything but if they developed Ginny/Snape's characters more it would be better.
Owl Handler
I will be going back to see the movie again to give it a second chance, but to be honest, I was severely disappointed.

After seeing the preview I was so excited, the scenes seemed so strong and dramatic, but the movie itself seemed weak.

The fight scenes in the ministry were disjointed with little detail, and the same goes for how the movie was put together. It didn't make me feel awe like I expected to; usually scenes give me goosebumps but I did not feel them this time around.

I admit that the scene with Harry being possessed was very good, the same sympathy came as when he returns with Cedric's body in the fourth, but it felt that each scene was just a little too short.

At first I thought that perhaps they were rushing through all the scenes so that they could spend a lot more time with the dramatic finale, but even that was weak.

Maybe I will like it betterthe second time (this happened with POA), but we shall see.

Can't wait until Saturday though to absorb myself in the 7th book...
Die Zimtzicke
Oh, absolutely the best HP film ever. Umbridge was awesome. Luna was just as perfect as Jo said she was. (Evanna is so cute I could just hug her to pieces.) Neville was great. Ron wasn't a joke in this one. Dan's acting was the best ever. I adored it.
SITH|Redskin
Hmmmmm... Where to start. (Skip to bottom if u want quick summary) Well first i'd like to say that i thought this was the worst of the 5 so far (just my opinion, dont flame plz). I thought it went WAY to fast. I mean after like 15 minutes we were halfway through the book. I think it focused alittle to much on the DA and not enough on the general stuff(can't think of the right word). I was disapointed at the fact that there was hardly and on Grimuland place or w.e. it is. Other than that i can understand some of the cuts.

Seperate thing about when i saw the movie, possibly the reason i thought it sucked.
The movie theatre i went to, AMC, kept having difficulties and the screen would go black for a few seconds. It really [mod edit] me off. (srry if that is bad) I'm planning on going again to get the full effect.

I thought it was pretty good. The 5th book was my favorite so the movie didn't seem to be as much as the book was to me. So far the 4th movie was my favorite.

The movie was good but not as good as i expected it to be
Moviesareruininbooks
Yet again my name lives up to its expectation... Here are my issues with the movie... Understandably, they had to make alot of cuts, however why did they have to spend time on so many minor details, like seamus' fight, Harry and Luna chating int he Forest, and even all the excess DA. Instead of that, why not put in a game of Quidditch? Like last movie, when they spent half of it on the Yule Ball, this one also substituted minor detail for major. Granted, the movie was well made, but to the real book fans it will not be good because it can not be accurate to the book, and to a regular movie goer, it seemed that the movie lacked a real interesting plot, because the movie did not focus on Harry's dreams to much. So yet again i Hated the movie and think its a discrace... If they are not going to break up the movie into to films (which makes sense seeign as they will get more money) i think that they should not even make them....
Gryffindor Girl 86
The movie was not as bad as it might have been, but on the other hand it definitly was not nearly as good as it could have been. First of all, I must say that I am a fan of the books as way better than the movies. That being said, I thought that the movie was really choppy. The scenes were so clipping jumping everywhere and one scene not lasting very long. The movie was not smooth and fluid making it hard to follow. The order of events inthe movie also were not correct. However, I did like the way they set up Ginny and Harry's relationship for the next book. Also, I think that important scenes were left out of the book. I think that Harry's anger was important and was not displayed at all in the book. Also, where was Quiddich?? It was not even mentioned! Lastly, at the end where DD tells Harry everything was not correctly related to the audience. I felt that this was lacking and as such an important part of the book it should have been given much more importance.

Without a doubt, OOTP is the best yet! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif This film was just mind-blowing, incredible acting from the cast. Snape was particularly brilliant in this one, sinister and haunting, and bitter too. I was doubtful that they would do a decent job of Snape's school flashback, but it was excellent! Although they did make James look a little tiny bit too much of a creep. Dan Radcliffe was just superb in this one, he delivered a beautiful performance, although I have too say, he didn't get angry enough at all. In the book he's really yelling and storming whereas in this film he was just kind've ticked-off.

Best thing about this film: Cho got dumped sooooo quickly! twisted.gif

Worst thing about this film: Draco got barely a minute of screen time altogether! eeek.gif

I loved it soooo much, I just sad that we'll have to wait so long for the DVD. sad.gif
blackdiamond23
i'm absolutely loathe to admit it but i was bracing myself for disappointment before seeing the film because i know from experience that the films never match the books.

however, i feel the film was cut done very well and every relevant detail included. i believe it still had a rather "rushed" (for want of a better word) quality, but i expected this. after all, it is the largest of the books.

if i can find a relevant thread, or start my own i will share my criticisms. this is just me at my pernickety best and i mean no harm.

very pleased with the outcome despite some criticisms, but i still preferred the Goblet of fire movie!

blackdiamond23
YES! laugh.gif

i can easily believe most of us Harry Potter veterans either laughed or giggled quietly at that part.

because in one moment u can see a complete change in the character absolutely hell bent on wearing his rose coloured spectacles!
Danny!Atrophy
i too expected this film to be big let down
as all the others missed way too much out
however i think this film did the book justice
yes they did cut alot of stuff out.
and added bits that made no sense opr w/e
but the film as a whole was very entertaining, very fast paced and exciting.

just one thing i didnt like about the film
well 2 actually.

sirius death was abit of a let down.
bellatrix used avada kedavra and the veil sort of engulfed siruius
rather than using stupefy [i think it was stupefy] and sirius falling throguh the veil

and

luna lovegoods line at the end
something along the lines of "it doesnt matter, the things we lose always find a way back to us in the end"
i think this line gives people hope that sirius is going to come back somehow.
which isnt possible as jkrowling said that no character is coming back from the dead

but apart from that
i think it was the best film so far
and umbridge was hilariously scary.
[:
carpysports14
I have to beleive that JKR meant when she said that no character will come back from the dead, but that sirius could come back in some form.

i saw the new harry potter last night and i loved everyminute of it i thort it was brilliant

although as a huge obsessor of the books i couldnt help picking out things that they had changed and missed out

personally i would love 5 hour long films or more with every single detail corect but thats just my opnion

but i really enjoyed it and shall be going to see it again sometime

i loved the part where grawp picked hermione up and she told him to put her down like he was a naughty child made me laugh so much even though it wasnt like that in the book

i saw the film on friday night. i thoguth it was very impressive, the effects were incredible!! the acting was good teh production was good, it was just teh story taht anoyed me. i apreaciate they have to cut stuff from teh book but i dont think tehy cut it well. teh storyline didnt really flow very well. things where abit to jumbled.

a good film with very good graphics and costume but let down by teh way teh story was presented.

Before I went to see the movie, I looked at this thread. I'll admit it ... haha. But anywho I read that a lot of people were disappointed with it. I therefore walked into the theatre thinking "okay, because I read the books, I'll probably be disappointed." But I was actually really amazed because I loved it! For me, it was a billion times better than GoF! I'm so pleased to hear that David Yates will be directing Half Blood Prince! That'll be fantastic as well!

It was the best one yet, for sure!
I like every other true hp fan, was waiting for some sort of disappointment like with gof but i was pleasently shocked! I loved the movie!
it was truly and utterly amazing! I know they cut a LOT of the book and the minor plots but all in all it was whole, complete, and didn't leave me wanting more!
As dan says, if you want the book, read the book. The movie isn't the book and as just a movie, ootp stood very well on its own whole and complete.
I could not ask for anything better as it was really good! I loved lune, I loved umbridge, and I loved the hr/r moments where it was unbelievably cute!!
They tried to put in the important parts and i like all the sequences (especially what they did with the daily prophet and the DA parts)!
All in all, great movie!
I cried, twice. really it was once because i didn't stop crying hte first time but still. It was from when sirius died until the whole he was possessed and then voldy left his body part. I think they did that part really well! and I really like how they made cho the one that spilled the secrets of the DA (it was well thought out, no holes!)

I have been on holiday so only saw the film today,

I love it, it was so cool, I wont be specific, as I dont want to spoil anything, for people who havent seen it.

Of course its slightly different from the book, and there are one or two scenes that I would have done differently, but hey, thats the way it goes.

Unfortunately there was some obnoxious man on the way out of the cinema, who's review consisted of "****" & "not the same as the book". A complete loser in my opinion.

I am sure some people are expecting to sit down to 12 hours of each word of the book acted out on the screen. For those of you who are expecting that..... get over it....... it will never happen

Enjoy the film for what it is biggrin.gif

I liked the movie a lot. I knew there where going to be many cuts so that didn't really bother me... especially he ending was amazing (the battle), and the part where Voldemort posses Harry was fantastic. It really is my favourite movie in the series so far
snaperules
it was ok...
not much like the book though....
I wanted the memory scene to last more than 3 seconds

yeah i thought the movie was great too. of course if you read the books then youll obviously want every single little detail of the book to be in the movie but then i realized that they wouldnt be able to make it like that or else it would take a few hours. ive seeen it twice and my favorite part by far was the part at the end with the battle between voldemort and dumbeldore and the parts after that.

but overall i thought it was one of the best movies yet!!!

I loved the movie - Umbridge, the more emotional view, no Quidditch this time also OK, less "action oriented". However, I liked best the 3rd movie, and least the 4th (very superficial approach, just as we simply buy ANYTHING).

Unfortunately, I had to watch it in a nearly empty cinema in a small town at night, no atmosphere, though.

The worst for me was the very ending: Harry saying things about love, the group, friendship and that he now understands what they have got and Voldemort hasn't. Very KITSCH, and not at all as in the book.

The movie was okay, I think but I did expect more. I reread the book just before watching the movie and I had the feeling that they were cutting out lots of things. And it's not that they didn't have enough time to include more things, the movie was not more than 2,25 hours, they could have made it about half an hour longer.
The actors and the special effects were good, anyway...

I still havtn seen OOTP yet.... I feel ashamed of myself. But ive always been much more drawn towards the books than the films and enjoyed the books more (the films always seem to let me down) so i read book 7 first. I reckon i may go and see it next week sometime however when i have time smile.gif

I thought that it was good, not great but good. There were somethings that bothered me. LIke Harrys anger, I was really dissapointed with this I thoiught that it was an easy thing to get correct, all harry had to do was yell. The totally missed that. I was really looking forward io dan demolishing an office. LOL but I dont think that Dumbledores character was very well captured, but that would be very hard to do so yeah. BUt I wanted to see the chapter called snapes worst memory and I wanted longer than 5 seconds. I didnt like Evanna either (luna) her voice was too high (not her fault) but still they didnt get her right. But over all it was good.

I agree with him! happy.gif
HARRY POTTER LVRR
I thought it was okay. Everything seemed so cut down. I just wish they would've made it a little longer!
