As I was watching TV i saw a new music video by a group of various artists (including Chris Martin, Dido, Justin Hawkings, Robby Williams, Paul McCartney, and more) and they were all singing about Christmas in third world countries. They called themselves Band Aid 20.
It was an excellent song with a deep meaning, and I think everyone should watch out for it.

Didn't you hear the original version of it?

I don't know....I thought the song was just a Brit thing, I didn't realise that they'd released it in other countries.

The original recording was made back in the mid 80's with the most popular artists at the time....Sting, U2 (unbelievably outstanding band...and they're Irish to boot!!), Duran Duran....loads of others that I can't remember now, all organised by Sir Bob Geldof. It was accompanied earlier in the year by the 'Band Aid' concert....which is available on DVD apparently now, so I've heard.....

But yeah, they've revamped it for release to a new generation this Christmas.

It's a very good track, but to be perfectly honest, I prefer the original (even after hearing it about twenty zillion times over the past twenty odd Christmases). But then, I would say that.....all Oldies (sorry taks, "Experienced Fans" tongue.gif ) always say the same thing, huh? wink.gif

I've never heard of it, but since you both agree that it's really good.. maybe I'll check it out! Thanks for posting. biggrin.gif

Now that you mention it, I think I've heard of them somewhere. . .

They're not exactly a 'band', but a group of celebrities called under one roof to help the world. Hold on, they sing about Christmases in Third World countries? It's not the "classics" of Christmas they're singing?

if anyone watches oprah, they talked about it on thursday's episode.

i'm sure that almost EVERYONE has heard some version of the song.
i thought i had never heard it, but on oprah they played the original version, and i knew it right away. i've heard it tonnes of times.
the lyrics are something like
"feed the woooooooooooorld,
do they know it's Christmas time?"
if you heard me singing it, you'd probably know it. i don't think typing it out does the justice.
