During a conversation over lunch today with my bestest mate in the whole wide world (who I am just gonna kiss when I see her tomorrow...) the topic of Alan Rickman came up...we both agreed how absolutely divine the man is, and she asked me had I ever seen the Texas video he starred in for a track called 'In Demand'. Being a great lover of Texas, I admitted to hearing the song, but not seeing the video.

So, while bored tonight, I thought I'd do a little check, just to see if I could find some screenshots....and I found....well....words just can't describe it.

It may take a little while to upload if you're on dial up...it took less than five minutes on broadband, and you won't see anything except a tiny little computer and a red arrow in the nav bar at the bottom, but be patient and it should open in a new window.....(It's a Quicktime Movie)

O.M.G....that's all I have to say.

Never mind David Thewlis........or Gary Oldman.......

I am now totally and utterly unequivocally devoted to Mr Alan Rickman........

And Snape is so totally the next M.o.M.... tongue.gif

Enjoy..... wink.gif

OMG!!!!

I could kiss you, Dana! On Quicktime as well, oh, it was just absolutely perfect.

Thank you!

I shall watch the video again... with beautiful Alan Rickman...
madamepomfrey
Dana, you are too cute. I agree though, it is a pretty hot video. I wonder when it was made. Any idea? Great song by the way.

But don't brush Thewlis and Oldman off so quickly. Just re-watch the video and pretend either one of them is in it and I think it would be just as good.

Do you have a favorite Rickman movie, aside from the HP ones? Any one feel free to answer. Thanks
Louise
**tee hee** I know, it's a hormone thing.... wink.gif

And somehow, I dunno....I just don't think that Gary or David could pull off what Alan can. He has that certain Je ne sais quoi......that indefinable sexiness that Gary and David have, certainly....but at no where near the same levels... tongue.gif

It was released in 2000, I think....so it's not that old really....

And I certainly do have several favourite Alan movies, so it's very hard to choose between them.....

I guess it's a very close run thing between Die Hard, Robin Hood, Love Actually or Sense and Sensibility.......

But I think the Colonel from Sense and Sensibility has to be his shining moment......

I haven't seen Truly, Madly, Deeply or Rasputin though, so I guess it's not a totally informed decision really.... tongue.gif

So glad you guys enjoyed it though....now, hands up who were watching it and wishing that they were Sharleen Spiteri? tongue.gif

*puts hand up*

The only movies I have seen him in, so far, are Love Actually, Galaxy Quest, and (of course) Harry Potter.

So, I would have to say I adored him in Love Actually.
madamepomfrey
I liked him in sense and sensibility too. And I liked him in Dogma. Have any of you seen that? It is a weird movie in spots, but I liked him in it.

I hated the movie about Robin Hood that he was in, I forget the name of the movie, but He did play an evil man deliciously.

I am still into thewlis though, just based on the interview included with the DVD. Something about him in that interview, hmmm, well, lets just say, I liked it.
zyra123
laugh.gif Hahaha!! Now this is a thread I'll be checking everyday!

Oooh...I absolutely love Alan in Sense and Sensibility! Definitely No.1...

I dunno...I think he was so delicously gorgeous in it. And character he plays has this sort of deep meaning too. You know, when Marianne was in love (or she thought she was) with the unworthy Willoughby, we can see that this Willoughby is all that a hopelessly romantic girl could ever want. Romantic, sensitive, charming, flirtatous...and so on. But it doesn't mean that this a best choice. Compared to what the character Alan played...Col. Brandon. He's serious, couldn't have been bothered with poetry and such (although at the end he did read a snippet to Marianne, didn't he?) but he's caring, he's there when you need him (and to have a deep sexy voice is definitely a bonus wink.gif)... maybe he's not that good looking as this person 'Willoughby' (oooh...I know you'd disagree totally with me! tongue.gif Me too!! I disagree with myself... lol tongue.gif but you know what I mean, right?) but that doesn't mean that he can't make you happy...

Yeah, I love watching that movie. Over and over again...it got me to think of all my choice in men particularly...it got me to think...'what if I choose him instead? He seems like a nice guy, what if I overlook his other flaws and sees what's in his heart purely? Could we have been married by now? Could I have been holding a child in my arms right now? Happily married?' Yeah...that kind of thing....

Whoa....that was sooo off topic! Sorry.... sleep.gif... but I was typing while waiting for the video to load... aight! Done loading...and watching now...

OMG!!!! He was definitely the man!! I'd give anything to be that girl in his arm! Yikes!! That part at the petrol station...I'm gonna have a 'weird' dream tonight...heh heh... wink.gif

You the bomb, Dana!! Thanks heaps for the vids!!

For anyone that's interested here's a link to a list of everything Alan Rickman has been in:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000614/

Enjoy.
Louise
Thanks for the link, Joe!

Zyra...what about the bit where he begs to be given something to do because he's just so out of his mind with worry for Marianne? **sighs dreamily** I've never been much of a one for pretty boys anyway, to be honest. There are things I value far more in a man....I honestly didn't understand why Marianne couldn't see the obvious depth of the complete adoration the Colonel had for her which was something far more substantial and touching than the shallow lust thing she had going on with Willoughby. I kept wanting to slap her through the whole film!! And the way he carries her back in his arms through the rain.....OMG....what a Heathcliff moment that was.....**sigh** Ooh, you've got me hankering after the men of the 'Darcy' era now.....they were real men, weren't they? Ah, they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Sometimes a girl needs the wine and roses, you know?

Yeah, madamepomfrey, I've seen Dogma but it was ages ago and I honestly don't remember Alan being in it, isn't that weird?! It was a bit of a strange film from what I recall, but I know that I enjoyed it so I think I'm going to take a little detour before uni today to hunt out the Texas video DVD (so I can watch that in slo-mo zoom to my heart's content.. tongue.gif ) and Dogma too now. I think I might hunt out Truly, Madly, Deeply too because he's suppsed to be really cute in that (and there's a bit of...er...let's say 'interesting action' there too.... tongue.gif ...should definitely be worth a look... wink.gif So if I suddenly disappear from the forums for a few days, y'all will know where I am....Apparently there's a very cute scene in Dogma where he is...er...less than fully clothed......happy.gif

WHAT?? Alan Rickman is in Sense and Sensibility? i never knew...when i watched the film i used to hate the sound of 'Harry Potter' and didnt even know alan rickman was related to Harry Potter...i didnt even notice him properly...oh my gosh, how silly of me!! blink.gif ...i became a crazy nutter about HP this April, when one of my friends gifted me CoS and when i read it, hesitantly, i was upside down...i was a HP fan*... biggrin.gif
Louise
You wouldn't believe how many great sites there are out there dedicated to Alan....I went on a quick webcrawl today and I found far too many to list, but I've come across some truly amazing pictures of the delicious Mr Rickman....the Texas video was the dawning of a whole new age for me, you know... wink.gif

I've officially gone over to the Dark Side, I'm afraid....never again will you hear me obsess over Lupin, Sirius, David or Gary.....(well....not as much anyway..) I'm afraid that Mr Rickman has now completely won my heart and if JKR even THINKS about doing away with Snape in the next two books, she better start buying brick-proof glass for her house.... tongue.gif (only kidding !!!!)

For your enjoyment, here's a lovely little piece of fan art I found that gave me a little giggle and I felt sure that fellow Snapeites (as I have officially dubbed myself tongue.gif ) would enjoy it too.....

Snape Takes a Bath

And, as if that wasn't enough, get a load of this and this. Ooh...and this...the famous Healthcliff moment.....

**sigh** You know, I am sooo in love with Alan right now, I could cry..... tongue.gif
zyra123
Arghhh!! I cannot see the pictures, Dana... sad.gif Is the link correct? I dunno...the page just failed to upload... I felt soo left out...

A scene from Sense and Sensibility...
'What can I do?' - Col. Brandon/Alan Rickman
'Colonel, you have done so much already' - Elinor Dashwood/Emma Thompson
'Give me an occupation, Miss Dashwood or I shall run mad' - CB/Alan Rickman
'She would be easier if her mother were here...' -ED/Emma Thompson

Oh gosh!! You're right, Dana... that is a very good part from him!! Totally love that man! wink.gif If only I could meet someone like him, I gonna hold on to him and never let go!! tongue.gif
Louise
Oh darn it, the site's gone down by the look on it. That's a bit of a pain the butt, isn't it?

Mmm.....well, I guess the best you can do is hang on and try it again later. Maybe they've just exceeded their bandwidth or something, it was working fine when I was there this morning. Just as well I saved some of them to my computer, hey? wink.gif Okay....hang on....I'll dig 'em out....

zyra123
*Gasp* *double gasp* Wow! Those are really some piccy of Alan you got there, Dana...

Luckily you got it saved earlier eh? Awesome...just awesome...

(psst...err...but where's the one with Snape takes a bath though? tongue.gif What? I wouldn't want to miss that, do you?)

OMG! I really want to see that movie now! I shall add that to my list before "Rocky Horror Picture Show". I have always loved Alan Rickman, but I believe my dedication to him as definitely increased. I love your avatar and signature, by the way, Dana! biggrin.gif

Ah, the limitations of being too young... it's even worse if one's maturity and knowledge is not supposed to exist at one's age.

Dana, if you really love Professor Snape as much as you love Alan Rickman, then I suggest you read "Slytherin Rising" in my signature. It's definitely not like other Snape ship fanfictions, it's a series parallel to the Harry Potter books in a Slytherin's point-of-view. Extremely good and the author tends to favor Severus the most....

Okay, I shall be quiet now.
Rickmansmissus
I have a copy of the video clip too, I've got it in mpeg format. Found it through Kazaa. I also made an avatar out of it too.

OMG, I just love that avatar!!! You wouldn't believe how hard I've looked for one of those since I found the video. Would it be alright if I...er....borrowed it for a while after Christmas? I'm quite happy with the Love Actually one till then, but I really would love to see Alan doing the tango afterwards........ wink.gif Mmm....he really is delicious in that video though, isn't he?

BTW, where did you manage to find a picture of Snape smiling? Those are really rare! Did you make your signature yourself?
Rickmansmissus
Sure you can "borrow" it smile.gif Just if anyone happens to ask, tell them where you got it from.
I make all my own sigs, and avatars, except the one I have now which I got off a friend.
I've often used Google and Yahoo image search to find the smiling Snape pics, which I'll try and post later.
Wednesday_Adams
I must agree with Dana, I love that avatar you created. biggrin.gif

What program do you use to make avatars and signatures? I once attempted to make my own and did not succeed. sad.gif
Rickmansmissus
When I make the avatars, I use JASC Animation shop 3. And for my sigs, I use JASC Paint Shop Pro 8 and Adobe Photoshop.

Here are some of the pics I promised...

Whoa!!! Those are some really big piccy you have up there... my compy just started to have a nervous breakdown a bit...

Might I suggest you put in a link instead? This goes to the other post in this thread with large pictures as well...

Thank you! wink.gif
Louise
Mmm...very tasty, Toni and Rickmanmissus!!!

That's just the medicine I needed after my rather...er...long day yesterday. tongue.gif It was the final day of uni yesterday and so the girls and I decided to make something of a night of it and....well....let's just say I was feeling a little worse-for-wear this morning.... tongue.gif Kicking night though...I do love Christmas parties..... tongue.gif

Anywho, yeah, very nice....it's so lovely to see Alan smiling, don't you think?

I've had a bit of an Alan overload this week...it's been bloomin marvellous, I can tell you. Rasputin came yesterday, which was just....**ahh**....it was lovely to see him taking on such a powerfully emotive role like that....and Blow Dry was really sweet!! I loved that to bits, it was like a breath of fresh air. That tattoo was really something, wasn't it?! Quigley came this morning...and I've still got to see Michael Collins so maybe I'll have a look at that one tonight.

That guy really has something though, doesn't he? I wish I could put my finger on what it is....I mean, he's not perhaps classically good looking, but OMG, do I find him more and more attractive every day.....**drools** tongue.gif

EDIT : Listen guys....I hope you don't mind...but it looks like me and Toni have just done the same thing, posting the wrong-ish thread... tongue.gif So, to keep things a bit more organised, I'm gonna shut this thread so that all Alan/Snape discussions can continue in the 'Unofficial' fanclub instead... wink.gif
