With the book coming out in a week (yay!) all the talk is about the heavy stuff so I thought I'd start a post on something a little lighter...Anyway in an interview JKR said one of Harry's classmates (not Harry) will become a Hogwarts teacher. Who do you think it will be? I was thinking Neville Longbottom will teach Herbology. What do you think?

ok i'm thinking that Hermione could be teaching arythmancy or transfiguration. Neville could be teaching herbology. Lavender could teach divinations. Draco could teach potions. If i have more ideas ill edit my post =D

I sincerely have no idea which character will become a Hogwarts Teacher. To be honest, I am pretty sure this character will become a Hogwarts Teacher in the Last Chapter, so maybe Rowling is fooling around with us; making us think Hogwarts will open but it might not.

But, yes, I do see Neville Longbottom as the Herbology Teacher in Hogwarts in the future.

For that to Happen im sure there would have to be an Epilogue..

Well lets look at it this way,

After the events in HBP, Hogwarts was left without a Headmaster and a DADA Teacher(If ive missed any please let me know). So im assuming as Deputy Head Mcgonnagel will become Headmaster which leaves us without a DADA teacher, Transfiguration and a Head of Gryfinndor.

Im guessing that Hagrid will become Head of Gryfinndor, One of the Order of the Phoenix will possibly become DADA Teacher and that leaving Transfiguration, Mcgonnagel will either stay Transfiguration Teacher aswell as headmaster or someone around Harry who has always been good at transfiguration.

My Guess's would have to be one of the DA members. Possibly Neville, Luna, Ginny or the Patil twins.

P.S Sorry if I rambled on a bit

I think that when this was mentioned, it said that it might be someone you would not think of, so I have 2 choices...

Harry, who has been working to be an Auror, may be fed up with the Ministry and give up that thought. He enjoyed teaching in OotP, and may be the new DADA teacher. Who better!

Also not someone who you might think of is Neville, who is extremely good at Herbology. He would make a good teacher for that.

I would seriously disasgree with the opinion of Hagrid being made the head of ANY house. Remember that he was expelled from Hogwarts (albeith unfairly), nevertheless, he has never taken his OWL let alone NEWT, and certainly is not qualified to be the head of a house, in particular one that is for strong wizards like Gryffindor. Also, he isn't even allowed to do magic or possess a wand, so that should be another reason why he would be disqualified from Head of House.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hagrid, but he can't be taking that position

I have to stick with the popular thought of Neville eventually being professor of Herbology, he does have an aptitude for it after all according to the current teacher and received outstanding on his OWL

I have to agree with everyone else and say that Neville will be an herbology teacher in the future. Its been mention several times how good he is at it and it does seem kind of unexpected for it to be him and I JKR would probably surprise us like that!

I just don't see how Neville could become the herbology teacher unless JKR kills off sprout. Sprout is always depicted as a fairly young woman and I don't wee why she would just happen to give up the job unless maybe McG dies and sprout happens to be next in line for the headmistress job or something but I really doubt that. I think it will have to be the DADA teacher whoever it is and that person will be the first person to hold onto the job since LV's curse because his curse will be lifted when he dies. Ginny seems like a strong possibility a few years down the road or whatever. With Neville's improved skill and the training that I think he may go through in DH maybe he will even end up being good enough to teach DADA.

i would like to think that it would be harry teaching DADA but i also think that hermione is a good canidate (the way she loves school and all)

Neville will be my candidate for Hogwarts teacher. Because of Memory Charms overdose, he was not bright in the beginning, so his grandmother tried to feed his memory with knowledge about plants. Later on, apparently the effects of the Charm went away, Neville became one decent wizard, but with good knowledge about plants. He could be a Herbology teacher, when Prof. Sprout retires or gets promoted to be Headmistress. We don't know yet.

Remember, people, that the epilogue takes place 10 years later according to JKR, so Sprout may move on to something else, and Neville could take over.

Also, someone will have to take over DADA unless McGonagall thinks Harry's experience outweighs his age for the position after the 7th year teacher gets the boot out by the curse.
