I know I should be happy enough to know that Ginny and Harry are married with kids, but the details make me wonder. I know life goes on, that's the imporant part. I felt the longs as well, and when they kissed at the wedding Ginny was understanding and just wanted to comfort poor messed up Harry.

I think it's good that Jo doesn't give us a overly-sweet fairy tale.

The epilogue serves as a wake-up call. It's not a simple "living happily ever after", but they now deal with the growing children with their questions (Lily wanted to go early, Albus worried about sorting). Adult Harry has the task to educate younger generation what it means to make a good choice in life. As far as Harry/Ginny relationship, the closeness is now transfered to their children. A close warm family originates from the closeness of the parents. It seems that Harry and Ginny have enjoyed a good life. Their children are happy and eager to learn. One note: James Potter, coming from the combination of quiet Harry and forceful Ginny, resembles his grandfather very much. Once he finds the new "Sirius", "Remus" and "Wormtail", he can form a new "Marauder".

The end of the book was a real surprise, but I loved it! I thought J.K. Rowling was going to end the book like she ends all of the other books, but since it is the last I guess she did this.
Harry's kids, Albus, Lily, and James, I am pretty sure around how old they are but I wasn't sure.
I think Lily is 9 or something, right? And isn't it James first year? Albus seems older.
Victoire- Bill and Fleur's daughter seems around the same age as Ted Lupin, they are nineteen or something I am pretty sure.
And Rose, I thought, was the same age as James? But James seems older than here. Hugo is younger than Rose.

Victoire is seventeen, i think....the book said Teddy was seeing her off to Hogwarts...
my favorite moment, i think was when Ginny kissed him on his birthday....it was telling him that she would wait for him to come home...it was so sweet
And i think its so awesome that we got the little information that Teddy eats dinner at Harry and Ginnys like four times a week....it shows us their true family life, i think

I think Victoire must be 17 or 16 since Teddy must now be 19 he is seeing her off.

James is the oldest of the potter family, don't know his age
Then Albus and Rose must be the same age because they're leaving for their first year together
Lily and Hugo must be either the same age or close because they are youngest and not yet going to school
oh and i love that i can say "the potter family" because that means that Harry and Ginny got Married!!! and Harry got what he deserves a happy life and a chance to be with the one he loved. though i have to say i really wanted he and Ginny to have a moment in the book similar to Ron and Hermione's where their feelings are just sort of thrown out into the open. Maybe I'm stupid or a sap but when Harrry told Ginny to leave the Room of Requirement and she was running past i was really hoping Harry would stop her catch up to her privately and say something like "whatever happens i love you" and they kiss again or something. I just think something like that around that time would have been great.
Yeah Ellen i liked that part too, he tought about her all the time in the book and then right before he thought he was going to die he thought of her, sappy and corny but still pretty awesome and hard evidence that he loved her!
Haha i did the spoiler thing, thanks Ellen

Victoire must be 18 going on 19, because if she was indeed conceived close to the victory over Voldemort, she would have been born in the first half of 1999 and entering Hogwarts in 2011. So in 2017, she will be 18.

I loved that. I laughed a lot. It just goes to show that Harry (And us, come to that) got his wish-to be able to live a normal life and say normal things like that, not "We've got to kill Voldemort's horcruxes!". I think it's sweet we can now say "The Potter Family" as well.
Though i have to say that ... surely they could have come up with better names? I mean Albus Severus? I laughed like a loon on loon tablets (Ie. A lot) and my friend said "Syrely they could have come up with something better than that?". It was sweet they named them arter people they knew, though i'd have to say it'd get confusing. I'd just stick to making their middle names named after people.
But overall, i would always love when Harry would fear for Ginny, or think about her. Notice that the last thing he thought of before he was "Killed" was Ginny?

I loved the ending to this book. I was so disappointed at the end of book six when Harry broke it off with Ginny, that I was hoping throughout the whole of book seven that Harry would survive and he and Ginny would end up together, and what do you know, my wish came true! I loved how their relationship grows, and how Harry is worried about Ginny, and cares about her. But most of all I absolutely loved that Harry and Ginny ended up getting married and having children! That was probably one of my favorite parts of the book!

I am happy that Harry and Ginny resolved everything, but I'm bothered by the mushiness of it all. It's mainly because I'm not really in to all the mushy gushy ship stuff, and I prefer ships that you have to work for. Harry and Ginny just kind of fell into each others' arms, and while that's pleasing and puts a smile on my face, it's no Ron/Hermione. I'm mainly glad for Harry though because he has someone that loves him. Don't care who it is, just that they love him.
I thought it was sweet how he was talking to Albus though. Albus Potter, that is. (What lame names.

) I thought that was great because that really is an important lesson for those kids and for the whole series.
I guess I'm generally happy. Not blown away or anything. Well, not for this ship at least.

Harry and Ginny. I used to post in this thread's opposite, the venom. But after DH I realized that they were meant for each other. I am not fully fond of Ginny yet but I think they are good together. Very much the same qualities. This book just made me realize them.

I loved their children's names. Albus Severus, the most brave and wise men. James and Lily his parents very brave again.

I do think that part was sweet. It was an important lesson, and to think that we've waited 7 books to get a theme! Well, there were more themes here and there, but that was like ... a main one ... oh well.
But back on topic, i'm just glad that Harry could live a normal life. A life where he's not fearing for his life. I wonder if he became an auror like he said? But it's good that he could live happily ever after with Ginny, because they work well as a pair, and really, they suit! I agree that i'm glad that harry has somebody to love.

Lol, yeah cristipotter, i think i mentioned that the last thing he thought of before getting killed was Ginny at some point. But oh well. I was sort of expecting more awkwardness between them at the begining, but hey, that's not the point. I had hoped that Harry and Ginny would show their emotions into the open too, but then I realized that they don't really have that kind of relationsheip. They can sort of understand each other, without having to communicate

I always thought it would be Ginny and Harry after I finished HBP. When Harry sniffed that potion - wasn't it called Amortentia or something? - in the first potions class with Slughorn and thought, that he could smell something flowery he might have smelt at the Burrow. And then later, when Dumbledore died and Ginny took Harry to the hospital wing, again he thought something about catching the same flowery smell.
Anyway I think the epilogue was great! The names were a bit strange, but still I kind of like the whole Albus Severus thing

But does that mean, that the other ones are called something like James Harry and Lilly Ginny ?

Plus, maybe it took Harry a while to really settle down or something. They could have married later. Or not, but I can't do math during summer, so I can't calculate ages and all that. So...yeah.

How about names like Antony, William, Micheal, Orlando, and Juliet? I gave Ginny and Harry six kids, they had a few more, but I scaled it back. I just had a lot of fun developing this kids that I couldn't ex the 6 I really liked.
A lot has been said about Ginny and that's she a lot of bad things, mostly in HBP. That's an insensitive person, who jinxes people because she can, and made Harry drink love potion to get him to have feelings for her. The only time she's jinxed anyone in HBP is Smith who clearly enjoys getting a rise out of Harry and the Weasleys. The twins and Ron also threatened to jinx him before, so it's not like Ginny sending batty bogeys at him came as a big surprise. She does yell at Hermione when Hermione was doing one of the many things she does well, nag Harry. Hermione was bursting to tell Harry I told you so about the prince book, which she was doing through her nags, adding to Harry's guilt, and Ginny cut Hermione’s guilt trip off. Hermione's nags often falls on deaf ears, Harry almost never heeds what she says because he just does what wants. Ginny gets that, Hermione doesn't.
The love potion thing is completely ridiculous of course for several reasons. We saw in Ron what people are like under a love potion, all he could think about was the object of chosen affection. Harry was able to think about what Snape is up to, how to defeat Voldemort, and Malfoy well he was crushing on Ginny. Not to mention all the every stuff of Quidditch and homework.

It's ridiculous thinking that Ginny actually gave Harry a love potion...it's just madness! I can't actually believe some people thought of that! JK Rowling wouldn't let HER character have romance just because of a potion...he had true feelings for Ginny because it wasn't an obsession, he was able to think of other stuff, just like
Amyrat said.
And about Ginny hexing people around, she's just good at the bat bogey hex and uses it on Smith according to Amyrat because I don't really remember right now who she was hexing, because let's face it, Smith was a git! She wasn't like James Potter that hexed people when bored or something...
And I've read people complaining about her...um..."female dogness?" Because of snogging Dean and having many boyfriends?

huh? Is not like she dated half Hogwarts!
I really like Ginny, I think she is a really strong character and she's perfect for Harry! She actually helped Harry when she shouted at Hermione, because Hermione wouldn't stop her nagging him!
Go Ginny! And I really like your names better than Rose and Hugo!

Yay! They got together again and went on to have three kids! And must say, they are much better at naming their kids than Ron and Hermione!
I'm a bit disapointed they didn't kiss at the end after Harry had finished LV because it would have been so cute but at least they were together in the epilogue!
I quite liked the kiss at the start. Don't ask me whythough. Maybe it showed how much Harry wanted to be with her. After telling himself that he couldn't go out with her, seeing her again must have overtook these feelings for a moment, so it kinda showed how much he loved her if you know what I mean.
Anyway, back to what's going on here. Ginny hadn't been out with that many boys, I mean come on - two? Give the girl a break. She liked Harry for years, but then thought she wasn't going to get any response from him so decided to out with a couple of boys in the mean time. And that's all it was, a couple of boys. Sometimes people read to much into what Fred and George say! And the snogging thing? Come on - Harry kissed Cho Chang and Ginny. Ron snogged Lavender
and Hermione Hermione kissed Viktor Krum
and Ron but nobody says anything about them! Geez
Amyrat151

Well according to some Hermione can do no wrong. The image of "prefect goddess" Hermione that has been created can never compare to the flawed Ginny who loved the even more flawed Harry with all her heart.
That's what I love about the Harry Potter books, it's not a fairy tale even if it is set in a world of magic and wonder. The people in there are just like the ones out here, they're capable of great good and great evil.

yeah, that's what I love about Harry Potter too! they are realistic people (magic, weird scars and prophecies aside) and some think that Hermione is perfect for Harry, but have you noticed how annoyed he gets by her? I mean, sometimes I'm like "Harry stop being so mean to Hermione!

" but yeah she does nag him a lot. She nags everyone around and that's one of her defects...she's not perfect! And when Harry's with her alone, he always mentions that something's missing (that would be Ron)
I have never heard such complaint from Harry about Ginny, he seems to enjoy her presence very much, with her defects and everything...he doesn't even seem to notice them! And he likes being alone with her...I'm just so happy about them!

When i first read this theory, i just had to laugh. I found it rather ... to put it nicely, "out there". Yes, Ginny is adventorous and daring-she's a Gryffindor for a reason, but i can't see her giving someone a love potion. We've been given canon evidence that Ginny never gave on him (Umhi? She said it herself. End on HBP if someone out there doesn't believe me) and when you've liked someone that long, sure, you may be desperate. But Ginny's a respectful person-she wouldn't put someone under a love potion. Who's to say she even bought one?
All this talk about Ginny being insensitive and ... well, my friend hates her (And the H/G relationship) and called her comething not fit to be said on the forums. Well, i say rubbish. I've seen Ginny described as supper!Ginny, and i have to say:
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Ginny is not acting super. She's acting herself. Ginny is the adventorous and powerful witch she is, and i'm glad she's grown from the blushing girl in CoS. She's only had two boyfriends before Harry, and that's not much conpared to some girl at my school-she has so many boyfriends, that i never know who she's going out with the next week-it's always someone different! But that's slightly off-topic.
In my opinion, Ginny is as JKR said "Harry's ideal girl". She's strong and doesn't take any nonsence from Harry and
doesn't cry when he loses it (coughHermionecough).
Overall, H/G is perfect, and even if it isn't, well i guess i have to say too bad-it's canon. lol.

Yes, it would've been nice to slip in a kiss at the end....but I don't think it would've worked well for the book. It'd be like 'Um, that was weird. Why aren't they comforting each other? cristi, it's true Harry can be quite cruel Hermione, and that's what I like about Ginny, she won't take Harry's cr*p, she also doesn't crumble under pressure as easily as Hermione.
The love potion stuff used to make me more upset then I care to say critsi, but I've really gotten past to the point of not caring. There's nothing like the validation of being right as confirmed by the Godess of creation know as JK Rowling.
I actually like Harry and Cho's kiss quite a lot, sweet with a kind of innocence a first kiss should have. Great jobs on all of Dan's, Katie's and David's parts. But yes, very much looking forward to Bonnie and Dan.
I think that Ginny felt Harry near when he walked by, and that the movie will most likely show that. I don't think it would of been...I don't know, not right, if Harry would of stopped for her. Harry knew that he had to give it all up, including Ginny to save the world.
rjj1995, I don't think JK will write more books. Harry deserved a family, that's what he got.

Okay, nobody shoot me, but what in the
world is 'canon'?
I liked the end of OotP when Umbridge was in the Hospital Wing and Harry, Ginny, and Hermione were visiting Ron. There's a point where 'Ginny turned away, grinning' after they cought eyes (or something). I always thought that was a little hint to what would happen in Half-Blood Prince. And now that I've re-read it I don't think it was exactly
meant to be put that way, but it brought me into the group of Harry/Ginny shippers all the same.

No one understands what I’m going through! ESPICALLY YOU!! Ha-ha, CAPS LOCK! Harry is so funny, fun to laugh at his crippling emotional pain.
About Cho and Harry, I don't hate Cho, I can't. I just fell really badly for her. I think that if Cedric wouldn't have died they could have been together for a nice long time; he must have cared about her greatly for her to be at the bottom of that lake. It's clear though, even if Cho and Harry went to the Yule Ball and had a real relationship for a while, Cho couldn't take being Harry's girlfriend. Everyone who gets involved with Harry's life should be given a crash helmet just for playing. Cho definitely wasn't up to stock and didn't understand the importance of Harry's job, well she did come up to stock, otherwise she won't have come back to Hogwarts, but it wasn't till Harry had long since moved on.
Oh canon, what a sweet love you have been to me, much agreed Moon.
MissRandom:
Canon, in the context of a fictional universe, comprises those novels, stories, films, etc., that are considered to be genuine or officially sanctioned, and those events, characters, settings, etc., that are considered to have existence within the fictional universe. In order for a setting to appear cohesive, especially in fictions that contain multiple parts, both creators and audiences sometimes find it useful to define what has and has not "actually happened" in that universe. Items that are considered canon usually come from the original source or author of the fictional universe, while non-canon material comes from adaptations, spin-offs or unofficial items, often in different media. Fan fiction is usually an example of non-canonical fiction. -wikipedia
