I think that Snape was very brave. I mean he pretended to be a very close follower of Voldemort but was really a spy for Dumbledor. At the end of the sixth book, I was very suprised when he killed Dumbledor. I was like oh my God. I couldn't believe it. My friends and I were like Snape is still good but then why did he kill Dumblesor? In the seventh book I think that all of us ended up respecting Snape so much more. I think it would of been cooler if Voldemort and Snape duled to the death.

I cried and I mean actually cried when Severus died.

Then I calmed down and started to read the next chapter and that undid my stiff upper lip again. It broke my heart to learn how he had suffered in the past and I commend his bravary to join the right side and spy for Dumbledore.

I was surprised that it was Voldermort that finished him off however, I was kind of expecting Harry to have done the deed as it were.

Oh the courage of the man! All that time he was protecting the child of his true love ok he asked Voldermort to spare her and not James and Harry but I think by then he had already made the switch to Dumbledore and asking LV to spare them all my have looked suspicous.
(Of course he could have just had selfish motives).

The long and short of it is Severus Snape was a hero and the best character in the whole series.

I always love us Severus even in the first books when hes just the mean teacher (ok mabye i didnt ike him when i read that he killed Dumbledpre but as i thought i started to love him again) my mum thought i was nuts and that it was just me falling for the "bad boys" i cried so hard when he died and again when i finished reading the chap on his memories
i will admit that i still shed at least one tear whenever i read that chap just because of how sweet he was and how much he sacrafised

Isn't it funny how there's those of us who can look past the bad things he's done, and then those who will always hold it against him? Even after what we found out he had went through? I mean, he was mean and horrid at times, of course, and there's no excuse, but you get to see what kind of influential people he had who he admired.

Severus has grown on me as I've come about on HP fandom just because there's the group of people who have that longing for Severus to be back. I think it took his death for some people to realize how much they actually like him. I personally liked him character wise since book one. It took me to get into the books at a deeper level to realize just how interesting he was, and how much I would cry when Nagini....

Anyway, I'm glad some of the newer members are able to have a liking for him, and welcome, as well!

I think for me, the death of Severus and in fact many of the characters were for dramatic effect, the books are over so lets kill as many uneeded characters as we can! They were all pointless and not in keeping with the rest of the story, harry went back with a time turner to save a hippogriff and help sirius flee, but never thought to go back after the pensieve, to the point where voldemort demanded he hand himself over, so he could save his best friends brother.... and all of them infact. And the Severus one was beyond belief, here we have a man who was intelligent and a potions expert as well as a dada expert, knew he was putting himself in danger and yet never carried anything with him, phoenix tears, nothing for his own protection. Then we have voldemort who killed him for a wand when all he really had to do was disarm snape, to win the wand. (well disarm harry actually, but then he didnt know that at the time)

there are a couple things you're forgetting in your post though, he couldnt turn time back like he did with buckbeak and sirius because they had smashed the entire stock of time turners during the fight at the MoM when they put that death eater through the shelves with them on it.

I'm pretty sure that Snape knew he was going to die, theres no way that he could play spy for all those years and not expect death. he made peace with the fact that he was going to die, and it wasnt really because he was no longer needed in the story, but instead to help tie off his love interest with Lily. Having him just live the rest of his life hating himself for what he said when he called her a mudblood is just kind of stupid when instead he can die for the same purpose he lived for mostly, and that was trying to pay back a little of what he felt he owed to Lily, to help protect her only son against Voldemont. it just makes sense really that he died. it was a nice way to end it i found, and to me the entire severus snape saga of the book was my favourite part.

and as for Voldemort he didnt know he had to disarm Snape, or else he probably wouldnt have killed one of his most trusted followers. he had already taken the wand from dumbledore, whom he believed to be the last master, and even then in the beginning he wasnt really smart when it came to wands or understanding other kinds of magic, he thought that by killing Snape he cemented his ownership of the wand, moreso then could have been done by just disarming him. really none of it was just killing off characters for the hell of it but instead keeping with the steady theme of the book, which was that Voldemorts downfall was that he constantly underestimated kinds of magic that he really knew nothing of.

biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif I am extremely sad that Snape died at the hands of Voldemort (well kinda) and also I am extremely sad how people biased Sanpe as an evil person which he was not. Even Serverous was a 'double agent' he was always torward the Hogwarts side and not on Voldemort's. He was the only death eater to ever quit (saying because in the book it says, 'once your a death eater your always a deatheater). Severous showed us all that he is a good doer and not an evildoer. I find it pretty witty how Snape was almost going to be together or eventually marry Lily. And I lost total respect for James because that he was a bully and a piece of s***. Snape proved to Harry and all of us, the readers, that he was really good, not the evil we thought was inside of him. THANKYOU J.K. ROwLING biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

I always thought there had been something strange about Snape killing Dumbledore in the sixth book. After I read it, I didn't hate Snape, as much as I hated the fact that Dumbledore had died. After I read the chapter in DH with his memories, (The Prince's Tale) I started bawling. I hate to admit it, but I was depressed for a few days afterward.
I had never expected Snape to die, I was so sure he was going to live. I don't know why, he was in a really dangerous position, if someone died, it would likely be him. I guess I just thought that since he had survived the first six books, he would live through the last one, too.
His death was extremely disappointing, as pitiful as a death could get. He died in the middle of nowhere from a snake bite. dry.gif I was very angry at that. He should have died with more dignity, while showing everyone which side he was on. Perhaps I'm being unrealistic, though. sleep.gif

Hmm? Severus Snape..

Hmm? Severus Snape..

I like the Severus Snape. At first i do think that Snape is really the bad guy of the story but the time i read the Deathly Hallows, the part where harry finally saw his memories, i finally understand it.. and i am really touched after i finally realize that i was wrong all the time. I do really thought that Snape is really a bad guy and i can't believe that he will die at the end. I like the scene wherein harry saw his memories together with Lily. It's so cool. The way he loved Lily even though Voldemort killed her. And i really hope there would be OVA in HP.. but i doubt it.. haha.. i think OVA's is for anime only.. haha.. Anyway i do really like Snape's role in harry potter. A very mysterious person but kind-hearted person. i love harry potter series and Snape too.. biggrin.gif
Lord Skinner
I liked him from the begining. He was an imposing character and much needed. I am glad to say i was right about him being loyal to dumbledore. when the new book cam out out i was glad i could prove him wrong about Snape. He was crucial to Harry's development. Even though he was always mean to harry you cant deny in some parts he did try to save his life. You also see why Dumbledore trusted him so much and how much Dumbledore meant to Snape. The series would not have been asgood i think with out Snape!
