Finally readers worldwide have visited the fabled Godric's Hollow were it all began for Harry Potter's story, in some ways delving even further than previously known. What was your impression of Harry and Hermione's visit? How do you think Ron would've reacted if he was there on Christmas eve? What was your reaction to the steeped history and horrors they encountered?

I liked Godrics Hollow. I loved how they have enchanted the House so that Muggles coudln't see it. That was nice and it was a constant reminder to the Wizarding community wasn't it? Of what happens when dark powers aren't taken care of straight away.
I thought the little notice popping up when he put his hand on the gate was cool. Especially how some people had even left little notes. Shows that they all stick together in that town. Also the statue! I ahd to read that part a few times to make sure I was reading it right. Do you think that was another enchatment? That only wizarding folk can see the Potters in the statue?
The graveyard was interesting, especially the names they came across. I didn't make the Peverell connection right away, although the name did ring a bell. But I kept expecting a DE to jump out at them or something.
It was also odd that both Harry and Dumbledore had roots there. They had both lost family there. Kind of as special place for both of them really.

I think JKR could have made Harry and Hermione spend n=more time here. I thought it was a shame that after all that had happened that Ron never managed to see it.
I likethat the Memorial took on the appearance of Lily, James and baby Harry. That was quite touching. As was the way the house remained invisible to muggles and had been left their as a reminder of what had happened.
I had thought that Harry's return to Godrics Hollow would reveal something important which it did.
Godrics Hollow must have been one of those places in England that attracted the Wizarding community, like Ottery St Catchpole, where the Weasley's lived.
I noticed that JKR located it in the west country of Endland. My favourite place for this was always Cornwall, which is a county with the most picturesque chocolate box villages. Although it could have been in my own county (the same area that JKR grew up) which is just as pretty, but she'd already had them camp in one place near where I lived, she wouldn't have have had 2!

I thought the whole scene was really depressing, actually. The statue was really nice, I think Harry must have really appreciated that, just like all the notes people wrote on the sign. When he saw his parents graves, I started bawling. The quote, " the last thing to conquer is death", that made me cry even harder. I wish Ron could have seen it.

I loved the Godric's Hollow scene. I was surprised to see that Harry and Dumbledore both had connections there. I thought that was pretty meaningful. The line on James and Lily's tombstones was beautiful. I loved it. Poor Harry, though. That must have been hard for him - it was, as we saw! I wanted to give him a hug. lol.
Wonderfully done. Loved it.

Godric's Hollow was actually a LITTLE bit of what I pictured. I imagined a circular kind of square and in the middle would be of either Godric Gryffindor or of the Potters. I don't know why but i thought there would be. when the statue changed it made me start crying. I thought there would be a memorial or something because look how everyone celebrated when Voldemort disappeared all those years ago. They celebrated almost revealing the world of Wizards, lol, but i also thougth of how we have battles and wars and monuments at special places that are important in our history. I thought, since this was such a big event, maybe there would be something there in memory to the potters from that night. I was NOT expecting however the house to still be in tact, left how it was, and little words of hope and blessings from people harry didn't even know!
The other shocking part was harry being able to see exactly what happened that night, the night his parents died. From Voldy's P.O.V, that was upsetting.
When I heard the name too, i knew i heard it too, when Harry made the connection I kind of dropped my book. (thank goodness i was sitting on my bed!! lol) In the end harry turned out to be a descendant of Salazar eh?

I thought that the part at Godric's Hollow was brillant! The fact that Dumbeldore lived there too, and the town left Lily and James' house there with a statue was adorable!

It was sad though, him seeing his parents graves, I was crying with Harry!
It's too bad Ron wasn't there, but I am glad Harry wasn't there alone. Hermione knew what to do, giving him the wreath to put on their graves. *sniffle, sniffle* I am glad he got to visit their graves, I was afraid Hermione wouldn't let him go after she fought it for so long.
I will have to admit, I was also on the edge of my seat, waiting for a Death Eater to pop up out of nowhere.

I though it was strange that harry had never been told even by the weasleys about the statue of him and his family and the fact u could visit they house..surly Mr Weasley working at the ministry would have known.
I loved the Godric Hollows part.when that snake came out of that woman i was SO freaked out!!!

I loved the whole Chapter of Godric's Hollow!
When Harry saw the staute, and found his parent's graves, I was in tears. And I loved how people signed the little board thing at Harry's old house.
And the scene where Harry could see what happened the night his parent's died in Voldy's POV was horrible

I cried through that whole part.

I think it was too bad that it took soo long for HP&HG to go to Godric's Hallow. It would have been cooler with Ron there. Visiting his house was way awesome. I loved the graffitti (sp?). The whole thing with Bathilda Bagshot creeped me out though. Eeeewwww! Ded lady with a snake possessing her corpse? Yuck!
Other than that it was really cool.

I loved Godrics Hollow. I wasn't expecting to see anything about the Potters there except for the graves. It was very touching that the wizarding community had built a statue and kept the house there, especially the sign with the messages on it. I was also waiting for the death eaters to ambush them at any second. But the whole snake and Bathilda thing was so very creepy! It was very heartwrenching to see the Potters murder through the eyes of Voldemort because Harry would have been a bit distressed to see it and he would know exactly what was going on in Voldemort's mind when he committed the murders. I found that a bit disturbing. It was sad that Ron wasn't there with them. With all the things those three have been through together, it would be right to have Ron there as well. It's a pity that he wasn't.

godric's hollow when i read about part of the statue of the potters it kind of remind me of nativity hehe

just a thought. . .
and after reading those messages inscribed at the potter's and dumbledore's graves, it kind of give the sensation of some cryptic messages or codes that harry needed to understand hehe

well he did at the end because he understands about what he is about to do and must do it, he must master death.

I thought Godric's Hollow was pretty cool. It was great how muggles lived there but didn't know that so many witches and wizards lived there too. It was nice how they left the Potter's house like it was the night Voldemort killed Harry's parents, and I liked that people wrote encouraging messages to Harry, I think that helped boost his confidence a bit. It was pretty cool too how Harry and Hermione found so many distant relatives of other Hogwarts students. I thought that it was a really touching moment when they found the Potters' graves, he had been waiting for that moment for so long.

I loved the Godric's Hollow part. I do wish that Ron could have been there though. I thought that it was amazing that wizards had enchanted many things there, in honor of the Potters, like the statue outside of the church, and the old cottage. I also thought it was so nice how people wrote notes in support of Harry on the sign outside of the cottage.

I was dissapoited. I wanted Bagatha to tell a story of some sort, perhaps give Harry the sword. I dunno. I was just expecting more when i read about it. Oh well.

i liked godrics hollow mainly because of the memory, which showed how his parents died. i think it was a good idea that this was told more accurate than ever before.

I think Godrics Hollow was brilliant...the whole chapter and also the place...
It was really odd to read that his parents names were written seriously on a stone and with their birthdays..I realised how young they were..

its such a shame..duh..
and the statue was so brilliant..I was soo..astonished by it...
I also expected Bathilda to tell a story and was a little disgusted by what came out..it made me a little sick..ew..
and like some of you said...Ron should have been there as well but I am quite sure that Harry went there after LV was finished as well and Ron and Hermione accompanied him most definetly again...

Maybe this should already have occurred to me, but something struck me last night while listening to the GH chapter and thinking about how DD never told Harry about the town being his as well....
I think I finally understood why HAGRID, not DD, brought Harry out of the ruins of the house there, to the Dursleys. Dumbledore could not bring himself to go to the town that held such pain and remorse for him. So Hagrid had to go.
I could never see any other reason to leave it to Hagrid alone. But listening to that chapter, thinking about how secret DD had kept his life, how much the town would remind him of those terrible events of his past when he might have killed his sister, it seems clear he just could not bring himself to go. Instead, he could go to the Mirror of Erised, and remember his family there, where his wishes, rather than reality, would be shown to him.

i liked this scene a lot.
i liked how there was the statue, the sign at the house and the graveyard. i expecially liked how it was just harry and hermione. i feel that it would have been less special if ron was there because he is'nt as sentemental and appreciative as harry and hermione.

I really liked this part of the story, especially when Harry and Hermione see the ruined house. The part about the graveyard was really sad to me. I was a bit repulsed by Bathilda and what came out of her. I'm glad Harry got a chance to visit his parents' graves and to see the graves of Dumbledore's mother and sister. I wish Ron had come along, if they were friends at the time, it would have meant a lot to Harry to have his two best friends there with him and not just one.

Godric's Hollow was the only chapter in which I felt both horror and emotional. It was very emotional when Harry visited his parents' graves and his home. Also, the messages of others from the wizarding world were very emotional. When Nagini came out of Bathilda, it was horrific and nauseating. But I think Harry and Hermione were stupid to go there when they know for sure that LV might have someone to watch them. But, I couldn't blame Harry because he was definitely feeling very emotional. If Ron had been there, may be, it would've given them the chance to escape LV easily.

I really liked it. I thought it was cool to see the house and the notes people left Harry. The graveyard scene was cool too. really sad in a way. I think it would have been good closure to be able to FINALLY visit their graves. I can't imagine what Harry was feeling...oh wait I can, I read it. =) and the statue was cool too. I wasn't sure I totally got it though. Was it either a) only magical folk could see it and the muggles would see the obelisk? or

was it a war memorial for wizards and witches and whoever they knew on there it would turn into a statue of them?

I liked Godric's Hollow. It was cool when they showed Dumbledore was also from Godric's Hollow. It was interesting to see Harry's reaction of finding out that he and Albus both lived there. I also like how they delt with the author of Hogwarts a History knew harry's parents. I enjoy that they had a memorial for Lily and James, and that they had a plaque that people had signed. I like that hermonie was with Harry and Ron was not, she is more aware of others feelings. I like Ron dont get me wrong, but he can be very blunt sometimes. I like how it ended though with Voldemort anticipating Harry's move of going to Godric's Hollow and set a trap for him. All in all Godric's Hollow was a big part of the last book andthe series.
