I just hope that it will be a bit more like the first three films. I know the composers have changed from POA, but they've messed around so much. I'd just prefer they used the originally developed themes.

I love Patrick Norris's style, it really makes the scenes pop and come alive, it's scary when it needs to be, exiciting happy, sweet, it feels fresh and young. Hooper's sytle is nice as well, a great mix with Hedwig's theme put in there. The music for the twins exit is awsome. Gitars, I tell you!
I like the music for all the movies, really.

I love the OOTP soundtrack from Hooper, but i still think that on the HBP soundtrack, old themes, such as window to the past are reused...especially with Lupin at the end.

I don't have any ideas for the movies, but I have a few for the trailers. Here they are:
Mission Impossible music for Horcrux/cave scene
Epic music for the rest.
That's it. Sorry if it's short

Bring back John Williams as a composer is my view. Short but to the point

I would think the best music for Ron-Lavander relationship it's "Bigger boys and stolen sweethearts" by arctic monkeys. It would just be perfect.
As for Dumbledore's death i allways heard "Eleanor put those but on" by Franz Ferdinand in my head. What do you think?
(It's so silly of me...to even think they can put this songs in the film

i would like to see rock band s doing soundtracks for this movie or the seventh one.
I think it would fit to those adventure scenes atleast in the 7th movies.

I was told that "Good Enough" by Evanescence is definitely going to be in it! I'm pretty sure it isnt a rumour. It's a slow song, but a really nice one..perhaps to play at DD's funeral?
Did anyone else hear this?

I think Korn would do best for Harry Potter sountracks lol
There dark downtuned sound would be great.
anyway are you sure they are using Evanescence song?

Um, I'm quite positive but not 100%
One of my good friends at school is a massive evanescence fan and she was the one who told me, so her source must be pretty good. Other people have said this too.

I agree. I wish John Williams would come back for both of the last 2. Unfortunately, Nicholas Hooper got the sixth one, but there is still hope for the seventh right? I REALLY hope that Patrick Doyle doesn't get it again, he did a terrible job of all of the songs. Nicholas Hooper did OK with it, but I still wish JW had gotten it again.

Well, i reckon they could have a track called 'The Phoenix Lament', with reference to one of the last chapters of the book. It probably ought to be included at the end where we get to hear an actual tune - similar to that of lugia's song in Pokemon 2000; sorry, how sad am i? If know one knows what i'm talking about here i mean a sort of simple emotional tune like a song played on the flute or something, but not actually played on the flute; it has to be proper orchastra.
What do you lot think?

I think for the HBP soundtrack, I think it should have more contemporary music (mainly during the least important scenes or the romantic scenes) as well as the classical score.

I cant wait to hear the new soundtrack!
Its got to be better than the last one, coz i absolutely loved the last one in order of the phoenix, especially the 'possession' song - it gave me tears to hear that song it was just so heart-warming.
I think this soundtrack ought to be more dynamic and, obviously, should have alot of tracks that refer to the love in harry potter.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh --- they should have a really funny, very comedic tune for lavender when she comes in. So that when they meet her we know and the characters know that she is a very naughty character. Sort of like they did with professor umbridge's song; they could have a lavender theme tune, i can just imagine them now coming up with such a tune; a very sickly, yet loveable, and romantic tune as if the character is slowly hitting on ron and we and hermione and harry get to see it take place on screen.
Then they should have a Professor slughorn themetune - yes, most definitely!
His won't be as obvious as lavender's though but it definitely ought to highlight some of the fun that echoes from his character.
Quidditch will definitely have a new themetune, which at times (i believe) should have fun notes/tunes as well as dynamic tunes to go with it.

I think that having music from bands would be kind of out of there for the movie mainly because I'm used to all the orchestra stuff. But then there was GoF. It could be possible if someone was playing if from a CD player or whatever wizards use to play their music with. I mean, they do have groups like the Weird Sisters and stuff, so it's possible.
I hope he does a really good job on this soundtrack because I really liked Order of the Phoenix's.
A Lavender theme--That'd be cool!

Yeah! a really sickly one that sounds really flirty yet a scary one.
A slughorn theme would be funny also. Imagine the notes in that!
I can't think what's better, a new quidditch theme or one that is similar to what we've heard already. Probably a new one, that'd be cool.

Apparently, according to IMDB, Nicholas Hooper is composer for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which is absolutely Brilliant! For me, anyway, i'm not sure about everyone else here ... i think Nicholas Hooper's last soundtrack for Order of the Phoenix was great, it was my favourite ever. I hope he makes another track that's as good as the 'Possession' one in Ootp because that one was my favourite.

I'm sorry, but if they decided to put any music like that in the film then I probably would go on a killing spree.
John Williams did the best job. Patrick Doyle wasn't a total shambles, and I hate the fifth film anyway. But to put modern music in it would ruin it. Mainly because it's totally out of context, I mean they're wizards, they wouldn't have heard of any of those songs, so to put them in there would be a little ridiculous. Unless it was something like in GoF where they had the Weird Sisters, but like obviously they could only listen to it from the Wireless Wizarding Network, cause obviously normal CD players and stuff wouldn't work.
I think they should stick to classical themes though. People are used to that in HP and I think regular music would be too much of a change. I liked what they did with PoA, they took the tune of 'Double Trouble' (the one that the students sang on arrival) and incorporated that into most of the other music from that film. I think they should keep that kind of thing going.
And as for what people are saying about themes for people, I think thats a great idea! They've done it before, like in PoA they had a theme for Hagrid being a teacher, and they obviously have Hedwigs theme that everyone knows. i think it's nice to have a theme to introduce people because it gives a better overview of what they're character's like.

John Williams MAY score the sixth Potter film! Apparently they have considered him as well as Nicholas Hooper (Ootp) but they havn't actually decided. Although, at the moment it's Nicholas Hooper. We'll find out who's doing the score for this movie soon enough --- hopefully very soon, it's hard for me to wait any longer.

I really want to here the music they used for the first film. Its the one they always play in the trailers. When i was in 4th grade a band came to my school and played that song and i was blown away. i joined band just to play it. but thats beside the point...i love the original music they used in the beginning and i hope they use it again.

I just saw the 15 second teaser trailer for half blood prince and thought i should point out the theme tune used for it.
This may be our first, short glimpse at a tiny bit of the soundtrack.
See Trailer. It's the normal themetune, and it's not that much different from the first and second film, although there's something added to that to make it sound more childlike.
The begining reminds me of the prisoner of azkaban trailer where the music is all ghostly. They havn't even tampered with the original tune, they've just added a 'twinkle' tune behind it, which makes it sound good.
I think we could be expecting a simplistic soundtrack for this film. Also, when i play back that trailer it puts me in mind of dumbledore's death.

OMG. Seriously guys, you should all go to the new Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Website and hear the Harry Potter theme on that. It is really cool. This gives us an idea of what the rest of the soundtrack will be like. It's basically the original tune but there are little extra notes in there which they've added to make it seem more sophisticated, and it's certainly got that comedic edge; you can just see Lavender Brown and WonWon walking down that great hall in time with that music.

I've had a listen, and what little there is of it sounds pretty good. There seems to be some more of Hedwig's theme in there, which is a must, of course! Still not happy that John Williams hasn't scored this film - and still hoping he will come back for DH.
If Nicholas Hooper has made this soundtrack more interesting than he made the soundtrack for OotP, then I'll be a lot happier. OotP had some great moments, but not that many...

Oh wow they updated the website at long last! Yeah the music is really good. I've always loved the music in all the films and play the soundtracks frequently. I'd like to know who the composer is though. It only shows John Williams as the composer of the track 'Harry's Theme'.

Oh how silly of me. I've never needed to scroll on that website since my screen is big enough to fit the whole picture or video in normally. I loved Nicholas Hooper's work on OotP so I'm excited to hear what he's done on HBP.

I just hope that Hooper impresses me with this one. I wasn't impressed with OotP's score. Other than "flight of the phoenix," "Umbridge's theme," and "fireworks," I'm not exactly blown away by his stuff.
I wonder how he'll write music for the romantic scenes. I wonder if he'll make a memorable piece of music like "Close your Eyes" the Buffy/Angel theme from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have hope, but my exceptions aren't that high.

Ooohhh major-over-squeeeeeeeeee!!! I just had a look back at the official website for the first time in a couple of months and if you pause the trailers music plays from the film. It sounds so exciting! I'm really excited to hear the soundtrack now, that's so mean, leaving us all hanging for the film and then throwing us titbits like that.

I love the way they added to the theme in the fourth movie. The music in that was spectacular. And Umbridge's theme was brilliant considering how well you could get a sense of what she was like by listening to the music. And I have to say that the music during the first movie when he's facing Voldmort/Quirrell gets me scared every time.
I also think the music sounds very exciting for the next movie, Charlie!

Alyssa that's very true, Umbridge's theme was brilliant. She's a right evil toad but even I was able to laugh a bit about it in the film. When John Williams composed the first score he certainly created a legacy for other composers to continue, also giving them a lot to build on.

He certainly did,
Charlie. And from the other music I've heard from him, he's quite a talented composer. I think he did the
Star Wars theme which is very popular for bands to do. He also did
E.T. and
Jurassic Park. He's fantastic.

Oh John Williams is the most famous composer in the filmscore business. Name a memorable theme and it was almost certainly composed by Williams.
OOOoh I can't stop listening to the music on the website!!! I have to whistle along to it^^ OOOOOhhhhh I can't wait till the soundtrack comes out so I can play it on repeat like an obsessed fangirl! Luckily it comes out before the film is released.
