What part sent shivers up your spine? I thought when Harry was in the MOM, and saw Mad Eye's magic eyeball in Dolores Umbridge's door. That scared the heck out of me. What did she do, dig it out of his head? I would have totally freaked if I was Harry. That showed a cold bloodedness worse than a Death Eater. EEEK!!! eeek.gif
lil_johnf
although i never got "scared"... i thought there were some scenes where i was like... [Mod Edit]..
like when harry says voldys name and the guys show up.. i was like "harry you idiot"
and the part when voldy says for someone to see if he's dead i thought for sure he would have to run for it.

and just to clear up the eyeball of moody thing... didn't the eye come out of his head easily? i mean in OotP he just pops it out into a glass of water saying its dirty.
not to say that its not gross what she did...just not completely sickening as if it was a normal eye

Mod Edit: I've edited out some inappropriate words that got picked up by the filter. Please refrain from using these words, as this is a family forum. Thanks!

I was really on the edge of my seat during Malfoy Manor and the previous chapter, where HRH are captured by the snatchers and brought before Belatrix, et al. Along with the torture of Hermione and the dungeon imprisonment, this should be quite thrilling when it makes it to the movie screen. I also liked the way Wormtail dies -- strangled by a charmed prosthetic hand that kills when it senses his fleeting hesitation!
#1_pottergrl
I agree with you jmcnally. I was totally scared during that part. I wasn't sure if HRH were going to get out alive or not. And then when Bellatrix was torturing Hermione I was sure Hermione was one of the main characters who was going to die. That was probably the only part I was scared. The rest of the book was more suspensful, not scary.
Moon(I luv you Luna)
I was completly terified throughout the entire final battle. It was just like ... oh my god, who's going to die now? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Well ... not really, as i was lying on my bed, but you get my drift.

Another scary part was Malfoy Manor. It was sad as well, but really, i was so afraid someone was goin to die.

In fact, the fact that someone might die was my main fear throughout the entire book. happy.gif
Nickienicole
I got grossed out and scared of the fact that a snake came out of the ladies neck. It was just so unexpected, and so gross to picture... :[.

The scariest moment for me was probably when they tried to move Harry.. maybe it was because it is in tshe beginning of the book and I wasn't expecting that much action straight away ..
and the part in Godric's Hollow was pretty scary too
Deathly-and-Hallow
yeah the chapter 'the seven potters' was pretty scary. first they were laughing about all those Harry's and next moment they're surrounded by all those DE's and LV. and Harry walking into the Forest towards his 'death' was a bit scary too. well not scary, but thrilling.
FireryPhoinex
During the last couple of chapters when people were droping like flys. My sister is reading the first one for the first time and i was yelling down the hall everytime someone dies " there goes another one" and she got pretty mad. I was scared when Harry was giving himself up to LV
Potters Phoenix
I was really scared when Harry was about to go into the forest to face his death.

Also, I thought that the Godrics Hollow chapter was scary, especially when that lady and the snake thing happened in the upstars bedroom - ahhh.

And I also thought that the chapter where the doe patronus leads Harry out of the camp to Gryffindors sword was scary, because I thought that it was some kind of trap. I am glad it wasn't though.

Harry seeing the snake coming out of Bagshot's body.
That freaaaaaked me out.
It was the whole thing of him catching it out of the corner of his eye
and how she was described as 'her body moved strangely'
*shudders*
That whole chapter in Godric's Hollow was eerie

I thought the snake coming out of Bathilda's body was the scariest, because like Harry I was intent upon the sword maybe being there and read that part so fast out of the corner of my eye/brain . A great shock. even scarier on the re-read, as her body moves weirdly and I was imagining it, like what if she moved sideways from her shoulders/upper arms where they is no joint- like in MIB I where the guy is running from Will Smith and his knees bend the wrong way, totally shocking. And right on the heels of such an emotionally draining scene with Harry seeing his first home and all the monuments and the graves, very good timing. Rowling is a genius. The other scary part was the fiendfyre because fire is scary anyway, even when its not magic. That part was sad too.
pureblood_narcissa
The scene at the Malfoy Manor when Hermione was getting tortured had me on the edge of my seat!!
Although Ron yelling "HERMIONE!!" made me laugh a tad woops! I just imagined Rupert Grint's pained face as he shouted!

I thought the scariest part was definitely in Malfoy Manor when Hermione was
being tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. It was really scary that Harry and Ron had
to listen to her screams and couldn't do anything about it. unsure.gif But it was also sad and
kind of touching that Ron was so scared for her safety. wub.gif

missginnypotter
there were some bits where i could see my clothes moving my heart was beating so loudly!

1. godrics hollow chapter OMG i nearly had to put the book down i was so scared

2. the battle at the end ... whos gonna die etc

and finally

3. when harry is travelling the mrs and mr tonks house and he gets attacked by LV

its amazing how just words can make you almost scream with fear!
raydurz
Well, I really never got scared, but the part that made me most uneasy is when the the Dementors were dragging away that one guy (I forget his name) after he was questioned by Umbridge.
Regitze
I got really scared while reading about Harry really being a horcrux. I'd thought so much about that theory and finally abandoned it, thinking it wasn't right, and then that happens. It really scared me! ohmy.gif

Another part was definately when Harry said 'Voldemort' in the tent, and Ron shouted something like 'the name's taboo!' I freaked and thought 'oh my god this is it, someone is definately going to die now!'
And then when they got to the Malfoy Manor with Bellatrix torturing Hermione.. Ouch..

I must agree with you pureblood_narcissa! I imagined Rupert Grint's face too when Ron shouted 'HERMIONE!', and thought it would look quite fun shutup.gif
Ladie Lily Potter
There were a lot of parts that made me shiver ... sometimes out of fear but sometimes out of awe. But the scariest part for me was when Harry basically walked into death. Oh and when Nagini came out from Bathilda. That was creepy too.
Lidaya
Probably in Malfoys Manor, there were soo many cliffhangers even though the chapter didnt stop abruptly.

krazy4kreacher
It wasn't really scary, just.. Intense?

Ha, yeah, There were many intense parts. As a lot of you said, Malfoy's Manor, was really suspense-ful.

However, when Ron left them, I was just so worried and scared. I thought what if he was found or caught or this or that. So when he came back alright, I was so relieved. But the part when he left scared me.
kreacheriscool
I think that The Bathilda Bagshot was scary enough by herself. The way her eyes were described and she didn't talk. I just got done watching Dead Silence when i read that chapter and she seemed really creepy looking. Then that snake came out of her head, and it was in a dark room that was scary.

The other part that scared me was when Hagrid was telling everyone not to hurt the spiders, and then the spider just took him up out of no where. I though Hagrid was dead for sure. It was scary because if someone like Hagrid gets killed anyone can.

Voldamort flying was pretty scary. That is some dark stuff if u can fly.

I really agree with what you guys have said. I thought that the Godric's hollow chapter was really scary, especially when Harry and the Bathilda/Nagini were upstairs all I could think about were her eyes!! In the Malfoy Manor party I was quite scared too, I was really worried about Hermione the whole time!

*Laurel
Dumbledores Army-united07
i was nver fully sacred.
i was however dieing of suspense.

like when the trio first get to grimmuald place and the voice of mad-eye... and then the outline of dumbledore.

and when harry ended up saying voldy's name and they all came and attacked them. as well as when they were randomly attacked in that muggle town!!

and especially the suspense for was extemely high when they went to go and get the locket horcrux from umbrige. along with when they went to break-in at gringrotts desguised at bellatrix. also.... when they were at godrics hallow.

and you cant forget the very ending at the last battle.
for a split second. i thought harry was really going to die

ya. i just realized i forgot about the malfoy manor part.
that was really scary!!!!!
i was worried about hermione alot too!

and i agree with krazy4kreacher.
when ron left. i was really worried.
i thought he was going to found and tortured or something.
but i was really relieved when he returned.
xForeverxLoyalxToxDumbledorex
In the Battle of Hogwarts where it said all the acromantula came in and starting fighting
I was like BIG HUGE SPIDERS!
That was scary to read and im dreading that bit in the movie!

Where Hermione was geting tortured and Ron was screaming for her i was so scared they wouldnt get to her in time sad.gif

At the beginnning when they were removing Harry from the Dursleys and when the were airbourn the Death Eaters surrounded them i was like nooooo!

The whole Malfoy Manor chapter scared me, because I heard from a friend that she read on a spoiler that Hermione was going to die. My other friends was a few chapters ahead of me when we were reading and she told me that someone dies in the chapter Malfoy Manor.

So the whole time I read that chapter I was shaking, especially because I thought Hermione was going to die! I was still really sad to find out Dobby was the one to go, but I was literally skaking when I read that chapter.

Also I thought it was kind of scary when Harry was walking into the woods where Voldy and his Death Eaters were.

Also at the very beggining when we find out Voldy can fly. That scared me a bit, thinking about how Voldemort could fly!

banana-sucrose
The Bagshot thing was pretty creepy (by the way that snake must have been incomfortable inside of her) although in the whole series the creepiest thing of ALL is the very idea of the inferi. *shudders*
gryffindorgirlie
I agree the Malfoy Manor chapter was pretty eerie! I was really glad Luna was there to give a breath of fresh air.

I thought the point where Greyback is 'snatching' was quite spooky.

I found the word Taboo scarier than Voldemort to be honest. It sounds lame but if you think about it, it shows Voldemort really is back and ready to kill.
X-Girl
I thought the scariest bit was when Bathilda turned into Nagini. That was soooo scary. Of course I don't like snakes at all so the basilisk and when Mr. Weasley was bitten was scary for me too.

Also the part where Voldemort comes after Harry and Hagrid. That was an awsomely scary part. biggrin.gif
mugglemary
I was also scared when Bellatrix threw the knife at Ron. I had heard he was going to die, and I wouldn't go on any sites after that, because I was afraid of being spoiled. Glad I was wrong, but mad that Fred got it later mad.gif
jennylovesharry
There were many parts but I was most scarred (and had to turn on the lights in the whole house) at the Malfoys & Godric's Hallow -- they scared the you know what out of me shutup.gif

The way the snake just came out of her -- the snake was wearing an old lady suit -- gross!!

Then the whole Malfoy's experience -- I was on the edge of my seat when H was getting hurt by Bellatrix - scary stuff.
barnyweasley
wow, this book was really dark, but then that was expected, huh?
the scariest moment by far for me was the scene in godrics hollow from the moment in the grave till harry and hermione escaped from Bathilda Bagshot's house. i found the whole scene in Bathilda's house really REALLY freaky. i read that part at about 3 in the morning and i had a hard time sleeping after i read that haha
cristipotter
The part with the whole "snake coming out from lady" totally freaked me out! It was just so horrible to picture, and to think that Hermione and Harry almost get killed....

Malfoy Manor also scared me for the reason many of you have mentioned: that spoiler saying that Hermione gets killed, fortunately she survived and I was happy. More than scary it was really heartbreaking picturing Ron calling her name half-sobbing. This part brought tears to my eyes.

When Harry says "Voldemort" and the DE's come, I was like "Harry YOU IDIOT!"

When Dumbledore tells Snape that Harry's a Horcrux! I was like OH MY GOD! I didn't believe AT ALL in this theory and was really surprised when I found it to be true!

And for some strange, creepy reason, the "All was well" at the end kept me uneasy... I don't know I just couldn't even sleep because of it! thoguhts of "something bad might happen again...Voldemort can be born again..." were followed by ones of "it's a BOOK! STOP WORRYING!...It's fiction!" I mean...I was really freaking myself out! Yeah, creepy...I know. mellow.gif

belle_316
Some of mine were: when the Order was moving Harry and then all of a sudden there was chaos everwhere and you didn't know who was going to survive. The snake coming out from Bathilda. That was just so creepy! When Harry broke the taboo and the DE came. I was sure that would have been the end for them. When Hermione was being tortured and Harry and Ron couldn't get to her. I was so sure she would be killed.

The Scariest moment was:

It was not really scary but it was like I missed a stair when going down the staircase when Bill said Mad-Eye is dead. And the same thing happened in Bill and Fleur's wedding: everything was smooth when out of no where appears a Lynx Patronous saying the Ministry has Fallen....Scrimgeor is dead.... They are coming. And also in the chapter the seven potters because I wasn't expecting so much action so soon.
pottermania001
i was kinda scared when they were in the forest of dean
Brian Badgerjump
When Harry came to the Burrow, and none of those who should be there was there, I knew someone would be dead, but I did not know who... I really just wanted to skip some pages to find out who survived, and who didn't.
Tuitus
I shuddered while reading many of the chapters to be honest, Madame Bagshot being possessed was the first thing to come to mind (Harry sacrificing himself the second); but we've read other instances of possession before through the series.
The moment which is still scary for me after reading it almost two weeks ago was when Lupin lost control of his anger. We've never seen him that upset without the moon's full influence or Harry instigating him for that matter. Until reading that scene we had barely any canon showing how Lupin is when confronted with his own personal problems and losing enough composure to show a shadow of the wolf rearing up.

The scariest part for me is after Harry saw Snapes memory in the pensive and found out that it was him that must die to truly defeat Voldemort. When it said he just walked out, knowing his fate and going to it without anyone knowing, I had to put the book down. tongue.gif I didn't want for Harry to actually die after all that and I felt that by not finishing it, i was keeping him alive in some way. I didn't want to kill Harry Potter. Embarrassing, but completly true. Well I finally did read it and I'm glad i did. The end blew me away and i was so overjoyed that he actaully lived through the curse of death, twice. happy.gif
Sasuke0099
I thought it was really scary how Voldemort's snake was living inside a dead women. And I could picture that easly also.It was just creppy and werid yet funny in some ways.I also thought Harry being naked was alittle...creppy blink.gif but then I would love to see that in the film wink.gif
Peacock
I was freaking out in "The Seven Potters" when they're flying then suddenly they're being attacked! I read it really fast then had to go back and read it slowly to figure it out- Hedwig dying was a shock. And at first I thought that hagrid was dead, and I was so relieved when I realized he wasn't.

And one of the scariest things was at Malfoy Manor when hermione was being tortured! I was so scared, and when ron was screaming for her- AAAAHHHH! I've always been for ron and hermione, and that scene made me really happy, despite the fact that it was actually really dark...

tonks-13
Eugh! When Harry and Hermione are at Bathildas house! That part really freaked me out! It was so gross the way that Nagani burst out of her neck!

I also got freaked at the start, when LV killed Charity, I was like OMG whats he gonna do! lol sad.gif
iLoveYou
I was pretty scared when Snape and Yaxley were going to Voldemort and the Professor...ew that was creepy. blink.gif
Lauren0891
The part that really got me scared was when Harry said Voldemort's name and the Death Eaters came. That part really got me! ohmy.gif I was so scared reading that part!

Another part that got me quite scared was the battle of Hogwarts. I was scared to read on to see who else got butchered... *shudders*

When the Death Eaters caught up with the Seven Potters and were tailing Harry and Hagrid, and then Lord Voldemort arrived... scary stuff. unsure.gif

Malfoy Manor - yes that bit was scary. I thought 'This is it. One of them is going to die.' I was amazed when they all made it out alive, albeit with a dying Dobby. sad.gif

abby0222
The scariest part in the DH was when they were in Godrics hollow and the snake came out of the ladys body. I was not sure if Hermione was going to maake it.

Also at Malfoy manor i was scared i was not sure if they would escape before LV got there and again i was not sure if Hermione would make it out alive.

I was at the edge of my seat all though the finale battle since people were being killed left and right
Nightshade
Ugh, definitely at the Malfoy Manor...I think that was the scariest, unnerving scene in the whole book. I was freaking out the whole time. I was nearly convinced Hermione would die, but thank God she didn't. I think the only other scene that set me on edge was the battle at Hogwarts. I knew so many people would die, I just didn't really want to find out who. Unfortunately I did... eeek.gif *sigh* The whole book was suspenseful, to say the least, but those parts really got to me.
tonks-13
Oh I have 2!

When Harry and Hermione were at Bathildas place, when the snake burst outta her I was so sure Harry was gonna die! Or when they jumped out the window I thought Hermione would die then but, alas they both made it out alive =].

Malfoy Manor freaked me out alot, I was sure Bellatrix was gonna kill Hermione, Im glad she didnt though! I was so teary when Ron was pounding on the walls screaming "HERMIONE" It was so touching wub.gif I got scared when Greyback captured them, I thought, this is it, they are all going to die! Thank goodness they didnt though! happy.gif

Oh yeah, this part was the scariest part in the whole book, for me probably. From the moment they entered the graveyeard, I knew something bad was going to happen. I also had suspicions about Bathilda, definetly. She seemed pretty odd, not someone DD would trust.

Malfoy Manor was...I don't know, it wasn't that scary for me. I kind of knew they were going to make it out alive though, although I had no idea how they were going to manage it! The part in the very beginning when they were flying as seven Harry's and LV comes, ooh that sent shivers! I had no idea how that was going to work out, I thought Hagrid was a goner!

The whole book really kept me biting my teeth though, from the wedding to the very end.

Rachel happy.gif

well... i guess the first chapter was kinda freaky... blink.gif just a Hogwarts teacher, hanging around upside-down, being casually tortured while Voldy and the death eaters were thinking of how to get rid of harry potter...and then the teacher is killed and eaten by nagini... huh.gif now i hate snakes even more.

oh, and Alastor's eye in Umbridge's door...that was so annoying!! mad.gif how could he do this? The pink shutup.gif sadistic shutup.gif shutup.gif .....toad
Mr. J
Definitely Nagini slithering out of Bathilda's corpse. That just made me shiver.
