i know that they are majical but why wouldent someone just pull out a gun- remember the time period- and shoot voldemort. i mean all you have to do is line up a machine gun and watch the death eaters fall.

If I am a wizard, and someone is simply trying to shoot me, I am going to use something that is pretty easy. A shield charm would reflect the bullets. At least, I am going to assume that magic can block non-magic.

I don't know if a simple gun would take out Voldy and the DE's, if they have done any studying up on modern day weapons surely they would come up with counter curses to deflect guns and things like. Shooting them all with a machine gun or even a tank round sounds simple enough but it was Voldy we were talking about. I think that a Sheild Charm would only be effective against certain types of weapons, but who knows?

I think that it would take more than a machine gun to take down old Voldy. The shield charm could protect against guns but I am sure there are other spells they could use to protect themselves. But if you wanted to use modern weapons to take down Voldy I would suggest an airstrike. Airstrikes are very affective and would have the best chance of killing old Voldy. The hardest thing about using modern weapons to get Voldy and is death eaters is that you probably have to catch them by surprise.

Yeah, I'm sure that a simple spell would be able to easily deflect a bullet. Plus, with the wizard heling techniques I'm sure that there would be a way to heal a bullet wound.

I thought about this two when I read the book, but I'm sure that our little guns would be no match for their wands.

Those are all good points. I think that a Shield Charm could easily block a bullet. But, what if you caught them unaware? In a vital place in the body? Or followed them to somewhere where they couldn't get to St. Mungo's or get to a healing potion? I guess they could apparate, though... You know, this is a really morbid topic, talking about how to kill DE's!
