I couldn't find a general sorting thread for people to discuss on (please correct if I'm wrong).
I was put in Hufflepuff. I already guessed it. Everyone wants to be in Gryffindor but I never cared. I know I'm not overly mean or brave plus although I'm quite academically clever that isn't my whole thing. I'm quite happy even though its viewed as the worst house (even slytherin have a certain je ne sais qua).
But I'm happy to be Hufflepuff I think we have a bit of everything: we can be clever, brave and cunning but neither rules us. We take the best from each but don't let it define us!
Just wondered how other people felt. Are you happy with your sorting?

How do you get sorted??? I want to lol

EDIT! Really sorry. I was new when I wrote that, and I hadn't read the rules yet ahah. Anyway I hope this counts as a good "elaboration" because I did write another reply and I hadn't seen this one. So sorry
MOD EDIT: Hi there! One-liners and short posts are not permitted on our forums. Please try to elaborate a little more in the future. If it's a matter of not being able to post more than one line, please PM a staff member and we'll help you out! Thanks!

Go to Newbies central and they have just opened sorting again.
So if you click on Veritaserum Forums you should see Newbies central.
They also have one about who your boyfriend/girlfriend would be. I got Lupin which would make a lot of people happy I know but sadly he's sooo not my type!

Before I got sorted I never really thought of what house I was going to be in because I didn’t think I was brave enough Gryffindor for, I didn’t think I was loyal enough for Hufflepuff, I also didn’t think I was clever enough for Ravenclaw and I certainly wasn’t evil enough for Slytherin. But I was sorted into Gryffindor and I am happy with it although some say I can be quite evil/sneaky sometimes and should be in Slytherin, I can sort of see were they were coming from but you can’t be in two houses at once

I knew I wouldn't be in Gryffindor (i'm not that brave). I figured I would either be in Ravenclaw, because I'm smart, or Hufflepuff because I'm willing to help others and be friends with everyone. As I was answering the questions, I realized that I was meant to be in Hufflepuff, and thats where I got sorted, so I'm happy with it. I never thought I would be, but now that I have my own house to root for, I'm quite happy!

I didn't really care where I was sorted, I just wanted to get sorted. I'm recently a Hufflepuff but I'm a bit annoyed that there isn't a Hufflepuff common room.
Us Hufflepuff members need a place to hang out, and it's just not fair that
Book 7 spoilers below -

Harry visits every single common room except for the Hufflepuff one! It's barely ever mentioned.
Us Hufflepuff members are sorely misrepresented and the only guy who ever gave Hufflepuff a fighting chance is now dead (Cedric Diggory).
Not that I'm annoyed at all the other houses or anything. I was just so excited to go to a common room.

It didn't really matter to me what I had, but I was sorted into Gryffindor, big suprise. I thought I would be in Ravenclaw, because I'm really studious and witty.
But I am quite satisfied with it

and I wouldn't want to change it or anything. Wow, I didn't know I was brave!

I'm discovering new traits in myself! lol!
Thank you Sorting person

Hey, quite a lot of Hufflepuffs out there I notice.
I agree with Mr Macbeth that Hufflepuff is misrepresented in the books even a little looked down on. But I like to think that we are the most versatile - we are loyal, brave, clever and cunning in equal measure.
I'm also glad that on the whole most people are happy with the sorting. I like the suggestion of individual house threads but also think that it does nothing for house relationships - it all gets a bit competitive for my liking!
I believe each of the houses has something to add and no-one should be ashamed of which house they are in. After all people are judged by their actions not by their predisposition. Look at Severus - on the surface the perfect Slytherin but braver by far than most Gryffindors!!

I'm happy to be in Ravenclaw, given that those in Ravenclaw are supposed to be intelligent and clever! Also, my favourite professor, Professor Flitwick is head of Ravenclaw, so I am happy overall with being sorted into Ravenclaw.

I didn't know where I was going to go, but I had a feeling it would be Slytherin, not because I'm evil or anything, but because I have a tendency (or so I've been told) to be very shrewd and cynical.

So they did put me in Slytherin, and I'm proud to be in such a house with heros like Severus....

Hi I am Frank and I was sorted into Hufflepuff and I am ok with it. There is a reason why you don't sort yourself, it is that most people would choose thier favorite house even if it doesnt fit to thier personality. My favorite house is the wise Ravenclaw house but after i was sorted into Hufflepuff I read about what the Hufflepuffs were about and realized that I do belong in the Hufflepuff house.
This is Frank a Hufflepuff and proud!

As a former sorter, I am really glad to see so many positive reactions to the sortings here at VTM.
Mrmacbeth, there was a Hufflepuff House thread at one time, but its members strayed off-topic constantly--it got so bad it was locked up. Maybe it can be re-opened in future.
I do think the quiz is worth taking, and worth taking honestly. There are positive qualities I always looked for with each House, and to be honest, I rarely sorted Hufflepuff simply because most people aren't sweet enough to belong there!

You have to be a really open and giving person to belong to Hufflepuff. I was always a bit sad that people felt they'd been relegated to a 'lesser House,' when really, that was only the misguided thinking of an 11-year-old Ron.

Hello everyone! This is just a heads up to let you know that I'm moving this tread to Newbies Central. I'm also going to tweak the title a bit so that you can discuss ALL of your sorting results, not just the house.
Please just keep in mind that you shouldn't use this thread for complaining about your results. The coordinators volunteer their time and they put a lot of effort into coming up with just the right results for you. If people come in here and start whining, the thread will probably be closed because our volunteer coordinators don't need the hassle.
Thanks for your interest in VTM! I hope you all enjoy the different quizzes we have!
When I first started, I took that boyfriend/girlfriend quiz. My boyfriend is Arthur Weasley!

At the time, I thought, aw, poor Molly.

My boyfriend is Neville. I thought that was sweet! I was sure the sorter would give me an adult boyfriend because I am an adult, so I thought it was cute that I got a student.
By the way, I was sorted Gryffindor. I do think sometimes you can have strong facets of more than one House, but the sorter has to go with the strongest attributes.

Oh, I agree. When I took the quiz, I was pretty positive I'd end up in Ravenclaw. I think I'm pretty clever, at any rate. I got Slytherin, and I couldn't be happier! I think it was my dry wit that sort of landed me there. Although, now my friends usually say, "It's that Slytherin," when I do something . . . a little rotten. Or make snide comments. I think I've embraced my house whole-heartedly!

Regarding other sorting quizzes
I've taken the boyfriend/girlfriend quiz. As you may have already guessed I was hoping for Severus but I got Lupin. But Lupins pretty cool so I'm fine with that!! Plus I can always have an affair with Severus
I was also wondering if people had any suggestions for other sorting quizzes?
I'd be interested to know what my patronus would be (I think that used to be a quizz but is now closed)
Also - just to say thanks to the coordinators for taking the time to do the quizzes!

Not because I'm a meanie or anything. I hope..
But it always turns out like that.
NO, it's not because I fake the answers to get into Slytherin,
I answer completely honestly, because I can't see why I shouldn't.
But I don't mind being put there, I like Slytherin for some reason.
&& I'd rather be there, than in Gryffindoor.
It seems like most peoplewant to be in that house.
But what's the fun in having most of the people in the same house?
Oh well. Go Slytherin !

I was sorted into Ravenclaw. When I took the quiz I figured I'd get Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff, because I'm certainly not brave or have any qualities of Slytherins. My bf got slytherin though *shakes head* now he thinks he's b-b-bad, bad to the bone.
When I took the boyfirend/girlfriend quiz I got Neville. At first I pictured having the 1st year Neville, but then I remembered that I would be a seventh year and I actually made it a point to talk about how awesome he was in his seventh year. So I'm happy to have him. But, I wanted Fred though
But I'm happy with all my sortings

I kinda know what you mean. I re-took my sorting for girlfriend/boyfriend. I was hoping for Severus this time (last time Lupin). So this time I explored my darker side...
And what do I get - Malfoy!!!
Considering I'm staff, Malfoy was a little disturbing. Especially since I'd said I was like his Mother! Talk about the oedipus complex. At the very least you'd give me Lucius!
So I say enjoy the sorting process but don't let it define you or put you off VTM. After all the people who are sorting you are only human!
Lets not mention that the rest is all fictional

Hi, ended up with Hufflepuff, sorry shouldn't grumble, but would thought I'd get Ravenclaw. Hate to say it but reckoon Slytherin would've been perferable to Hufflepuff. I don't like to sit on the fence its one thing or another for me, totally good or totally bad, Somehow Hufflepuff seems a bit of a soft option. Anyway to whom it may concern: thanks for taking the trouble to sort me, I appreciate the time and abide by your decision. My grumble is done with! I'll be content with Hufflepuff.
Also took the boyfriend girlfriend quiz. Was hoping for Sirius but got Lupin, as I predicted, still he's pretty cool and I don't mind at all. I liked Sirius Black's dangerous edge though!
Would love more sorting quizzes and wish I could think some really cool ideas to add here, but maybe something will come to me later.Ithink I might just try the sorting again, didn't realise until I read this thread that it was ok, might just see if I can get in touch with my darker aspirations too!

Well, each House has good and 'bad' qualities--something I discovered when I sorted.
To me,
Gryffindors are brave, sometimes to the point of laying their lives on the line for people they don't even know, but they can also be quite lazy. They often slide by when they could shine.
Ravenclaws are highly intelligent and have great drive (give a task to a Ravenclaw and they ALWAYS come through!), but can forget to relax and laugh.
Hufflepuffs will always help someone in need! They have a soft spot for the underdog, however, they also sometimes have to admit they give too much! They run the risk of getting depleted from giving too much to people who take advantage.
Slytherins are savvy and family-oriented. People think they are selfish, but it's not really true--they are very generous to family, and many times to friends. Their loyalty isn't easy to win, but once you have it, and don't mess it up, you've got a real friend for life! The only true 'negative' might be Slytherin's tendency to disregard the problems and suffering of people they don't know well.
Looks like I spent more time on the Huffs and the Slythies, but I do feel they are the most easily misunderstood Houses.

I'm not happy with my house at all. I was sorted into Slytherin, and I think I'm far from Slytherin. Well, not too far. I have some of the qualities like very family oriented. But, not that much.
It's just someone else's interpretation of what house you should be in by what you say. When Harrypotter.com was livethemagic.com, I was sorted into Gryffindor. I really don't like being in Slytherin house.

I looked up your replies to the sorting questions. I've no idea why you are in Slytherin, as I always assumed Slytherins were cunning, self seeking and manipulative.
But reading Aethonon's post it looks like you have been placed there because of your loyalty to your family.

I've just got the results and I'm in Ravenclaw.
I always thought I'd be in Hufflepuff, because I'm not brave enough for Gryffindor, glad to say that I've got very few of the Slytherin features (not that I don't like Snape

, but when had the house anyone decent in it?-in the books of course) and for Ravenclaw, well I'm as lazy as a... and I'm not too driven and not very studious. I agree that I'm not stupid and that I think pretty coolly, but what I value most isn't intelligence in itself, it's something like integrity and kindness and loyalty. Doing the right thing, judging right-not only intelligently.
And look at Hermione-she's clever too.
I'm a little disappointed to be in Ravenclaw, as the house "values" are more skill than quality. And the Ravenclaw people aren't that sympathethic either. Luna is nice, of course... but what about Cho Chang? Roger Davies, Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner too, if I remember that right... Padma Patil...

I'm in two minds. I got into Huffllepuff, which I like and I wanted, but then I read the profiles and Ravenclaw just hit me as my house!

But then again I really don't have the drive or anything to be Ravenclaw... I do like a laugh sometimes! But I knew Gryffindor and Slytherin were NOT me at all, so I'm not too worried. Anyway, my house common room is down by the kitchens!

Just a quick mod note: You may not be resorted. Due to the mass quantities of members wishing to be sorted, we do not allow people to retake the sorting quizzes if they do not like their results. If you do not like your results, that's fine; but please just claim the house you want and do not try to retake the quiz. Thanks.
I know not everyone is happy with the houses they end up in. I think that we have to kind of get away from stereotyping the houses with the one quality that was predominate. People automatically assume that Slytherin is evil; but their real quality is cunning and ambition. Both of those traits are not bad traits at all. Hufflepuffs are loyal, yes, but we can't forget that they are driven and dedicated as well. It's not a bad house at all to end up in! Because none of the main characters (save for Cedric) were Hufflepuffs, people tend to think that they're not all that great. It just so happens that they weren't the focal characters of the story, but that doesn't mean Hufflepuff is a poor house.
Anyways, instead of focusing on the negatives of the house you end up in, try looking for some positives, too. The Head Aurors don't just randomly pick houses, so there were some qualities in your answers that led them to their decision. I promise there are positive qualities to each and every house. Also, people tend to exhibit qualities found in all of the houses. Look at the trio! Hermione was obviously very smart and clever lending us to think she'd be in Ravenclaw, but she's in Gryffindor. Ron had great desires to be wealthy and famous like Harry leading me to think Slytherin, but he's Gryffindor. I guess Harry only ever really belonged in Gryffindor! But Luna; she seemed to be a good Hufflepuff in her acceptance of people for who they are, but she's in Ravenclaw. Just keep a positive attitude and don't let a sorting get you down!
EDIT:

Ok well I was sorted into Ravenclaw and I'm glad I was put into that house because that's really where I thought I'd end up. The reason I quoted this section is because I agree with fact that Ravenclaws are highly intelligent and that we have a great drive.
The only thing is that if you read the books, the Ravenclaws that are metioned don't seem to be stuffy, in fact they seem to be quite the opposite.
Take Luna for example. In OoTP, when the trio first met her she laughed and had tears in her eyes. And in the rest of the books she is always optimistic and she seem really "chill."
Now Cho Chang seems to be always crying and she is one example of "can forget to relax and laugh."
I'm not critisizing what other people wrote because we're all allowed to write our own opinions, this is just mine

Thanks, Passerby and everyone for the comfort. I realise now that Ravenclaw isn't that bad. What's even more important, just like you say, everyone's got something of each of the houses in them, it's just like with the 4 personality types-there's no pure type. You're right
Now I'm happier that I'm in Ravenclaw... I'm a prouder Ravenclaw....

I, for one, am not surprised in being sorted into Slytherin. Everyone assumes that Slytherins are bitter and mean and evil, but ambition and cunning can be used for good things, just as loyalty, intellectual curiousity, and bravery can also be used for negative things.
Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not running into a burning building if it's filled with people I don't know, but that doesn't mean I'll sit there and laugh. Personally, I know I'm very ambitious but I know that the ambition that I have is going to be used for a better cause. A successful revolution has to be started from the inside, a successful government changes from the inside- that's the lesson history teaches us.
So major shout-out to the mods- you guys did well.

I'm a bit bemused but greatful nonetheless. I usually have a personality that matches Hufflepuff (don't get me wrong, it's a great house too). Normally when I was a bit younger whenever I wanted to be in Gryffindor I wanted to push it (despite my personality being a bit cowardly) and I often got my way.
But I felt empty so this time I decided to answer the questions with truthful way and it suprised me that I got the same answer. But yeah, I do feel like that my second choice was Hufflepuff because I fit that a bit more in terms of characteristics.
