Yeah Quidditch. I've seen some of the costumes (on small videos on the making of it), they've done more on them now. They even have helmets. Alot more padding as well. I can see why they didn't put Quidditch in OOTP now because it was such a dark film. And there was so much to fit in.
Yet with Half Blood Prince, they can make it fit in nicely with the Ron, Lavender and Hermione love triangle.
I want to see Luna's commentary to The Writing on the Wall. biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Oh I am so excited that they will be playing Quidditch!!! I saw some videos and they said that they would have quidditch again. I was so dissappointed when there wasn't any quidditch played in OotP. Now that it's back, I'm superly psyched! We get to see Ron is action! biggrin.gif

I would really like to see David Yates put quidditch back in the movies. It's really important that it gets put back in because it's really important for Harry and Ginny's relationship, because it really comes into its own that day.

I love the fact that Quidditch will be back! I mean it is the whole build up for Harry/Ginny. I see the reason for the points that have been made saying that there is definitely enough action in this book to last 3 hours even without Quidditch and i obviously don't want the whole film taken up by Quidditch, but you have to have it in there. Just think this will be the last ever time they will do Quidditch as i'm sure everyone is aware it doesn't come up in the 7th book. I just want to see it happen one last time for old time sakes.

Thanks,

i am so so happy quidditch will be back! it sets up the whole relationship with harry and ginny. also, rons in it too so that will make it a lot better...this will be the last time they show quidditch so im really excited to see it with ron and ginny too!
browneyedgirl
OH! im SO happy theres going to be quidditch! i love watching the games! haha.
i was so disappointed that they took it out in OotP. but i think they kind-of have to put it in this movie, because alot happened. i mean, Harry becomes captain..so theres the try-outs and all the games. there should be the first game because of the Felix Felicis and there should be the last game because well, thats how the whole Ron/Lavender thing started and thats a big story line in HBP.
i think they should have the tryouts, first game, and last game. even if its just little bits of it and not the whole game.
smile.gif yay for quidditch! biggrin.gif
Radcliffefreek
ya, I think its a good idea to include quidditch.

I was dissappointed when it was cut from ootp.

As for those who think it would be a waste to include it, I heard it in the trailors on you tube that they had to include quidditch beacuse Ron was trying out as a keeper and that he was selected beacause Hermione confuned that brat from seventh year. Also because, Harry was declared the captian.

anyone want to see the videos about the making of quidditch robes? I can post a link...
FastfanHPg
In all of the HP movies I loved wathcing Quidditch!!! If they didn't have Quidditch it sort of messes up a few things in the movie. Ginny's relationships are involced in Quidditch and it shows the Herminone is starting to really like Ron. Besides if they didn't have Quidditch Lavender Brown wouldn't be with Ron or at least not in my head.
rach2603
WWOOOOOOOOOOo that is all i have to say
but forum rules say i must expand so i'll add to my comment XD
i think that it needs to be back
its is whats FINALLY gets ginny and harry together
and ots QUIDDITCH how could they cut iit in the first place!

but ti do see that that might mean sacrificing other parts of the stroy

but the movie isnt a replicate of the books its BASED on them i think people need to start remembering that XD

I'm happy that they are putting back quidditch in Harry Potter since we havne't seen it since the third movie, but has anyone seen a picture of Ron in the new Quidditch uniform? I think it's weird looking blink.gif I mean I would say it's ugly but let me not get harsh

Ron in the new Quidditch uniform

here's the link if you haven't seen the picture. You can all right what you think of it...
harrypotterlover1024
Im not sure if thats the uniforms it may just be what they are wearing to try out in, seeing as there are a ton of people. I know they are changing their uniforms, but i think they will still have the cloaks.
Im so excited for quidditch will be back and i can't wait to see Ron play!
nicky potter
Never mind you make a good point laugh.gif I forgot that Ron had to try out . Never mind thank you for saying that , you reminded me of a video that I saw on youtube that showed the new sketches of the quidditch uniform. Have you seen them?
harrypotterlover1024
Yeah i saw that too. Here's the video of their uniforms. I dont really get why they are wearing all that padding and stuff now.
monkeymushroom
It is sort of weird-looking, i know, because of the blue, but it's not so bad. It's only because it's different that some of us are weary. I think if Quidditch existed, they would keep changing the uniform because that's what they do with football. It's realistic in a way, and it makes the game more excited because we get to see new costumes for each film. The blue makes them seem more dramatic, that's why they probably put it in.
I don't know about you, but i thought, in the behind the scenes video of that woman showing the new designs of the quidditch uniform, that red and brown was too boring. Adding the blue makes it more exciting, don't you think?
Beside, they've probably changed their design since that behind the scenes, seeing as it was still really early in production.
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I don't think that was the actual uniform, I think it is just for try-outs. I am actually not a big fan of Quidditch. I thought it was cool in the first movie, and it was necessary for the second, third, and the fourth movie, but now I don't see why it should be included. Sure Harry is captain, Ron is keeper, and Ginny is chaser but what real significance does Quidditch hold.

In the second movie it was important because it landed Harry in the hospital wing and he heard about the Chamber already being opened before from Dobby, and then heard the teachers talking about it.

Third year it was important because of the dementor attack and it destroyed his broom so Sirius would send a new broom and they would get in a fight but since they didn't include the fight there was no need unless they showed the game they took the Quidditch Cup.

4th movie it was important because the Quidditch World Cup was where the Death Eater attack took place.

I wish they would just get rid of it now that it is no longer important.
monkeymushroom
But it is important.
Harry and Ginny get together and Quidditch just offers a sort of light relief for the film. And Ron has an important role in this because he finally gains spotlight for taking part in quidditch. I mean no one can say that that isn't important, unless no one wants Ron to get any glory, which would be kind of unfair for him.

I can't wait for Quidditch. I mean we definitely won't see it in Deathley Hallows so we might as well make the most in HBP. For those who don't want Quidditch anymore, there's no need to worry, because this is the last time we get to see it, so look forward to Deathley Hallows.
harrypotterlover1024
I'm so sad this will be the last time we see Quidditch. It has been a huge part of the series and Harry's life. I agree that it is important, but I did think it was okay for it to be left out of the 5th film. But it couldn't have been left out for two in a row because Quidditch plays a big role in HBP. Its also what kinda starts the fight between Ron and Hermione and leads Ron to go with Lavender. ( i think, correct me if i'm wrong).
Lily Luna Potter :-)
i can't wait to see the quidditch!! biggrin.gif as people have said it has always been a big part of harry's life (since he came to hogwarts). it is sad that this will probably be the last quidditch game, like ever sad.gif sad.gif i hope they will make it really good!! i am also quite excited to see that ron is going to play as keeper (after a while) and if they have the one where luna commentates that will just make it even better!! laugh.gif
rach2603
Oh! I don't know what to think!
Firstly- yay, yippie, calloe, callay quidditch is back!
Though I completely forgot that this would be the last sad.gif

And, further back in this thread, you can find an abundance of fans saying, as happy as they are, this probably means something else will be cut.
rumour has it that the Funeral has been cut. I would rather they had the funeral then the quidditch because is more emotionally charged- unless you jump up and down and cheer- and the more charged to better it is cinematically.

Riddle Me This
Cool! I did see pictures of new hardcore Quidditch gear and was so pumped. They'll probably only put one match or a practice in but that's okay, it's a movie. I want to see other things not three Quidditch matches- no offense.

But HBP is more about life at Hogwarts. Alot of the action takes place in Hogwarts (apart from the cave) so it makes sense that we add some wizard world normalcy to the picture. It's not all Wizards War insanity all the time.

Yay!

I love watching Quidditch on these films! It just looks like so much fun and everytime I see it I wish I was able to play (dont we all? biggrin.gif ) well im really glad that it will be a part of this movie that i expectto be rather good!

I cant wait!

As long as we don't find out about any more inportant scenes being cut out, then I'll be okay with watching quidditch (which I love to watch). However, with the news that Dumblesore's funeral will be cut leaves me most displeased that we'll see Ron playing qudditch but not see Dumbledore's burial. Hopefully, no more will be cut for quidditch's sake.

firefly
Whoa! What?!?! ohmy.gif When did they say that Dumbledores funeral was not going to be in the movie?! mad.gif

The war is so much more important than Quidditch and Dumbledore's funeral got cut and Quidditch is going to be in it! Harry and Ginny don't get together during a Quidditch match they get together during the party so Harry can just come back from detention and find out they won and kiss Ginny, it isn't necessary to include the match for this scene. Quidditch actually brings a lot of negative spotlight on Ron even though in the end it was good for him. However, I don't think a person that is jealous of a famous best friend deserves spotlight. Now you probably think I hate Ron but actually I like Ron except in a certain relationship but that is off topic. Really I don't want a light relief in the movie, I want the important things and in my opinion Quidditch isn't important. It is just a waste of time of a movie that is supposed to cover a 600-700 page book. I am glad that after HBP I will never have to bother with Quidditch anymore.

I absolutley love Quidditch, and I was so disappointed when they cut the world cup game in the GoF. But I also agree, that it just isn't very important especially in HBP where the plot is the thickest. HBP, in my opinion and several others, is the best book in the Harry Potter series, but not because of the relationships or even Quidditch. But because of the plot. It reveals so much about it, and I'm afraid that Quidditch would push other scenes to be cut, other scenes more relevant to the plot. They already cut out Dumbledore's funeral, which is a huge blow to me, and I would hate to hear of other scenes being cut, shortened, or changed.

Also, I don't see how people think that Quidditch is a big part of the series. blink.gif

But you know, since Quidditch is going to be in the movie anyways, I'm looking forward to it. happy.gif

Not to be rude or anything, but the books are more about Harry than Ron. I love Ron, but you know, for the sake of the movies, I'm more willing to sacrifice his moment of glory to see more suspensful, interesting, plot-related scenes.
monkeymushroom
Quidditch doesn't have to get in the way of the rest of the plot line. In a way it's all part of the romance plot, so instead of too much romance we have Quidditch to siphon it off a bit. Plus, it's light relief - i think it's a good idea they've brought quidditch back; it doesn't matter if it's not that important, i think it's essential. Don't forget, we read the books, and there are other people who don't read the books but still love the movies and Quidditch, so i bet it makes them happy to see it again in HBP.

And it's the very last time anyone is ever going to see it again, so the makers probably included it because everyone was missing it and they knew it wasn't included in the seventh book.
Make the most of what we have left, that's what i say.

May i add also, that there's plenty of room for quidditch and the dark plot. Why would anyone want to watch a film full of dark plot and no funny bits anyway. A few minutes of quidditch wouldn't do anyone any harm, now, would it? It's not like they're dedicating a whole half hour or something, that would be bad.

I think, what the book was about was that the hogwarts students could do normal everyday things even though those times were tough. Quidditch represents something that is normally a part of their everyday life and the students are still able to take part in it, it is the hope that shines through in this darkened plot. It shows that there is still a last chance for wizards to have fun, even though soon enough they will have to think more about the serious stuff.
peter
Yes! Quidditch is confirmed, by the test screeners, set reports, promo's and David Heyman and the sneak peaks. I looked excellent in the trailer and hope it is as good as the match in Poa, alfonso really directed that sequence brilliantly and the camera angles were awesome! I hope it's not like the uninspiring cute quidditch that;s in ss/ps and cos.

I am afraid have to disagree there. HBP is barely about life at Hogwarts, the books central theme is Harry's discovery of Tom Riddle's background and the setting into motion some of the major events that culminate in Deathly Hallows. All serious Harry Potter fans would understand that.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Quidditch is one of the least important things in Harry Potter series ever since Harry won the Quidditich cup with Gryffindor in his third year and the makers CHOSE to keep that out?? And if the rumours about Dumledore's funeral being removed from the film are correct then this really goes on to show where the makers have their priorities. Undoubtedly quidditch is a popular theme among juvenile Harry Potter fans so makers wish to include that in the move because lets face it the book is quite dark for some people's tastes and they want some sweetener in it. I have always felt that the movies never successfully captured the soul of Harry Potter and such impetuous decisions really prove me right time and again. I sure Half Blood Prince will not be much to look forward to and if the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort at the end of the fifth movie is any indication, the last two films would be no better.

i would love for quidditch to be back
it always sort of breaks up the plot line of the drama
and i want it back for one reason
chant 'weasley is our king' in the back of the cinema
i will do it smile.gif

The Quidditch scenes included in the trailer look really great! I watched in a HBP special that it will be comedy Quidditch, never before done in the films so that excites me a great deal. With Luna commentating and Ron as keeper this should be fun. biggrin.gif
