I read an article that Quidditch will be back!

Hopefully they add Weasley Is Our King and Luna commentates with her lion to make the last Quidditch the most interesting one. Why "last" you say? I'm pretty sure they'll only show one match since it's a movie.

Really? Where did you read that? I read that was going to be no more quidditch in the movies.
Not that I'm complaining! I love the quidditch scenes and maybe this will give Ron a chance to play it in the movies ( Rupert always said he was looking forward to doing that) and maybe we'll see that kiss on the cheek that Hermione gives Ron in the fifith movie. I hope they do decide to keep it in though but it doesn't seem very relevent to the plot anymore so I doubt they will. But if you've read that they will, they must be!

I did hear rumers of the writer confirming quidditch but what I do remember is a Yates interview "This ones gonna be more sex, drugs, and rock and roll". the "sex" part would be referring to relationships..and the rock and rolll might refer to quidditch...dunno

That's cool, i hope quidditch will enter.
In the OOTP quidditch didn't enter, and that was bad.
I want to see Ron as Keeper is going to be funny and with Luna comentary's. LOL.

Can you show us this interview, if you can find it. Dont worry if you can't but we would greatly appreciate it if we could see for ourselves what their actual words on this subject were. Not that i'm doubting you - i believe you very much - but just to be sure this could turn out to be confirmed...???

I believe that Quidditch could become an important subject to this story because of this simple thing i came up with just half an hour ago: when making films out of books/novels the makers usually try their best to simplify the summary of the plot as much as possible; without simplicity you can't expect viewers to follow the story or say, "oh this seems like an interesting plot, lets go see it". So therefore i think the plot ought to be seperated into three different subplots indicating three of harry's desires: Draco's scheme; Ginny; the Horcruxes. With those as your basic plot guideline you can easily use those to describe what happens inside the film without upsetting the story or the book; like for instance with the Ginny subplot you need Quidditch in order to introduce the first kiss between herself and Harry. Therefore we could argue that there is plenty of room for quidditch, along with some of the main important parts, to be included into the film.

It would be awesome if quidditch was back!! I totally love the quidditch scenes! I agree with everyone that has said that quidditch is needed in order to introduce the G/H relationship. I would difinitely love to hear luna's commentary but if I am correct isn't ron like injured during that time? I really really hope they do bring it back because there is going to be so much mystery and intensity and quidditch would be a great way to relieve some of the tension that will be going on. I mean like for the fact that someone would be evil enough to split their soul and the way Voldemort wants to prevent his death at any cost.

I really hope they'll have quidditch in this movie! It's understandable if they have to cut it, but I think they should at least have some scenes. Especially since that one game is where Ron kind of gets some glory, you know? Even if he does overdo it in the retelling!

Yeah I agree... I really want to hear the tune of "Weasley is our King" so I can repeat it relentlessly to my friends who don't like HP somehow... Ha ha ha I can see it now! Luna commentating on the match, Ron and Ginny playing, the kiss... it all works out... in my head, anyway...

In a way wouldn't they wan't to include Quidditch anyway, for Harry's sake? coz Harry gets made Quidditch captain so this is much his journey as it is Ron's. If they do happen to give us quidditch i won't be able to wait for the film, i'll be too excited.

In my opinion, bringing in Quidditch into the movie would be a waste of time and reel that would be better spent adding more useful stuff. I think, Quidditch barely has any role to play in the book, so movie is unlikely to be any different. One place where Quidditch could have played a significant role, was Prisoner of Azkaban, when Gryffindor finally one the house cup, but since it did not add much to the story, the makers decided to leave that bit out of the movie. Here, Quidditch is unimportant and does not advance the book plot, and makers have eliminated far more important stuff such as Dobby in Book four and five etc. So I hope that better sense prevails for a change and more important stuff is included.

Well i don't think they should bring it back either. I would have been happy for it to be in the 5th but since that didn't happen. I'd fel quidditch would be just crammed into there and wouldn't be that good. As much as Quidditch is good i will be more happy with them continuing with the Half blood Prince main plot points. But if thy can fit it in well in someway full steam ahead. I'm just hopeing they don't spend more time on Quidditch then the other scenes. Which i'm sure they wont. Ah but yes the kiss. But they could include it in an other way Harry and Ginny. Couldm't they? Well we will see.

I think it would be great if they put qudditch in! I always loved the quidditch scenes the best in past movies. I only hope that if they do add it in, they better not eliminate anything major in the plot. I would rather sacrifice quidditch than the important stuff.

I hope that David Yates brings Quidditch back, but if he does, then who will they get to play Demelza Robins and Cormac Mclaggen. By the way, I hope this thread does not interfere too much with casting for HBP, and if it does I'm sorry.

I am glad to hear that they are putting quidditch back in the movie! I always loved the quidditch parts in the movies that had them. It will be great to see them up there again zooming around on their brooms. Plus, the majority of the fans love the quidditch parts, and it will be nice to see it again!!

Yes! Quittich will be back. It was out for 5 and and it's not in book 4 so we have missed out. It should be neat. The weasley is Our Kingtheme will be a neat thing to see go on.

They will probably squeeze the intro in one game and then him doing really good in the secong game. Good question though.

Hmmm... i wonder???? If they are more than willing to introduce quidditch late, into the sixth movie rather than the fifth, then surely they will try and squeeze in Bill and Fleur for the sixth or seventh movie as well. Its like what they did with Dawlish: it wasn't advertised (the role) yet it was included anyway, as an extra, for like 2 minutes; and the same went for Percy, when they added him for brief moments.
Anyway, back to the subject - 'Sorry'. Are you sure they have confirmed Quidditch? coz, otherwise, where and when have they confirmed this?

The first game would probably only be Harry faking the felix felicis, and Ron played well.

Maybe they would introduce Weasley is our king, but then Malfoy is not suppose to be involved much in school activity is he? because he is spending all his time down in that room of requirement

The second game would be short though since Harry got knocked out straight away lol, but according to David Yates, Mclaggen may or maynot be included.

Third game Harry was not involved so they won't have to show it.

If they do I hope they show Luna and her roaring lion hat, and find a way to put in the Weasley is our King song. Do you think they'll put in Hermione helping Ron out on the tryouts?

it would be really nice if they're really bringing it back. i want to see ron playing as keeper and ginny as one of the chasers, it would really be cool to see the weasleys. just don't know what quidditch match they would have, but they really should include the weasley is our king, and hermione cheering out there.

That would be super if they do bring it back. I think it is important to the Harry/Ginny relationship evolving. Quidditch is something that brought them together, so I think it should come back. They are getting the screen writer from the first 4 films, so perhaps he will bring it back. He wasn't available for the 5th, so I think it made a difference in that movie, beside Yates. I would love to see the try outs for the team in there, Harry having to choose his team will be a hoot to see.

Yes! I'm anxious to see the Quidditch parts, espiecially the Harry/Ginny part... I mean, then they just have to put it in don't they? Daniel said he was upset there hadn't been Quidditch in the movie, so... who knows? We'll see!

What my question is.. If they are going to put Quidditch back in, how in Merlin's name are they gonna introduce Ron being on the Quidditch team I wonder? I mean he joined in the 5th book and Quidditch didn't quite make it in the 5th movie.. yes, quidditch IS CONFIRMED BY DAN HIMSELF, it will be back...not that he's too pleased about that but im sure rupert is pleased...but then i just realized...what if they cut the whole Ron thing out of quidditch? they might do that, it'd save them alot of time, i s'pose...but if they do im gonna be mad!!

Ohh, i saw that interview just half an hour ago on transcript - that was the best two seconds of my life; to find out that Quidditch is confirmed. Coz, really, what other flying scenes could they possibly have in this movie. Every film in some sense should have flying in it, otherwise its not harry potter, and that's basically what they have done for every single one so far. For instance in 4 even thought they didn't have quidditch they had the dragon scene where you see harry flying; and then in 5 because you already get a flying scene at the beginning you don't really have to worry about counting out quidditch.
I'm glad we're gonna get to see quidditch again, its been ages sinse we've seen a match being played. I can't wait to see how this one looks.

i really would like to know though how thye will introduce ron being on the team before and all. but i'm glad that they've included it, as its really important htis yr as harry is captain and ginny and harry get together after winning and all
but i heard that the quidditch scenes are really physically straining and that its not a favorite part for the actors. we still love them!

I am so so happy that there will be Quidditch again! I was really disappointed when they didn't show them winning the cup in PoA and then completely did away with it for OotP, but I understand that some things needed to be taken out. But it really is a big part of HBP what with Ron making the team and the big kiss after the Quidditch final. So it's good they're bringing it back.

Now that Qudditch is returning in movie 6, I really think they should've at least MENTIONED that Ron gets into the scene in Order of the Phoenix. Now how is Hermione gonna kiss Ron the cheek? I know, they'll probably come up with something anyways, but I really liked the way it was in the book!

I'm happy they will put quidditch in HBP, it felt like something was missing in OOTP, maybe that was it. I love "Weasley is our King," and it will be find of weird to see Ginny playing quidditch. I can't see Bonnie Wright playing quiddtch, and I hope they include Cormac McClaggen, that will be funny to see Harry yelling at him.

I didn't like Cormac Mcglaggen. I know no one was supposed to like him but i don't think he would be substantial to the plot; i would find him too ennoying to cope with and so would everyone else i think.
Anyway - i very much doubt they're gonna have cormac. Besides, to begin with, Ron was the one who won his position as keeper anyway and it wouldn't be necessary to include the details, otherwise it would get too confusing.
All you need to know is that Harry becomes captain and lets both Ron and Ginny play for the team. Actually, i wouldn't be surprised if they made Harry's (aka, Daniel Radcliffe) decision of letting Ginny play quidditch upstaged, so that it could show us that he's become somewhat soft on her. That would be a good way of introducing their relationship.

AND....
You know in those movies like Sleeping Beauty (i think it was) - or Snow White - they had that wierd swaying type music...oh it was the begin of Sleeping Beauty, and every time one of the fairy godmothers gave their gift they had the whole colours and nice music...?
Well, i thought it would make a good addition to the new movie if they had some funny comical bits where Harry (daniel radcliffe) is staring into thin air (at Ginny ) and a similar style of music will start playing in the background, indicating a daydream, with potions and stuff simmering in the background, and then they cut the music and you begin to see everyone staring at harry. Now that would be funny - i can see it now.

What does everyone think the Quidditch scenes will - in the end - look like?
Will they be as speedy as Prisoner of Askaban, or will they be slow pace like they were before. Personally, i hope for a bit of both. I like the dramatic affect that was put on as well as the new robes; doesn't anyone else think the darker colours suit the characters more, now that they're grown up.
I wonder if these new quidditch scenes will last as long as both PS and CoS. I'M SOOO EXCITED!!!

Ok, Sorry to say this to all of those Quidditch Fans out there, That ive heard that there will be no more Quidditch in the films. So I dont think there will be if they say there is gonna be none. Im not really disapointed in the no Quidditch thing cause i mean i didnt really pay attention to it. And Plus its not really a big deal.

That would be sweet, I wonder if folks who haven't read the books will missout, there was a lot of Quidditch in OotP that carries over int HBP. I wonder how they will bridge those thems.

i mean, i think they'll really need it, won't they? it leads to the kiss and all...
unless they cut it out, which would be a waste of time, money, and discomfort...

It'll be so amazing, it's been a while since we last had Quidditch! I missed it and I hope they include the Weasleys playing!

I am glad that Quidditch will be back for movie 6!!! I don't think it will be too much of an issue reintroducing it into the movie and surely they can show Hermione helping Ron out somehow during tryouts, seeing as we need to show Ron actually making the team this year...It would also be great to see Harry as Captain with some more leadership responsibilities other then DA stuff.

Quidditch is important because it emphasizes that Malfoy is actually missing from it...Ginny and Harry actually kiss at the end of the last match, Luna's commentary should be a barrel of laughs, and finally seeing Ron get some recognition for his skill without being in his brothers shadows any more will be great!

Yes, it DEFINITELY will be back. Anyone who has watched the HBP sneak peek online will know, because on it, they show you what the new quidditch robes will be like, for those kids who are getting older, and it shows drawings of Harry and Malfoy in the new robes, which include helmets.

Inclusion of Quidditch in the movie would rank as one of the stupidest decisions by the makers. There's a lot of stuff in HBP to fill a three hour movie and most of it is much much more important than a silly Quidditch match. In fact Harry's obsession with Quidditch was one of the worst things in the book and the movie seems to be headed that way. I am sure to accommodate Quidditch makers will leave out stuff like some of Riddle's memories. We have no indication of whether any of the Gaunts have been cast or for that matter Hepzibah Smith, Burke, Tom Riddle Sr etc. Can you imagine HBP without atleast some of these characters? There seems to be no Zabini (granted one may do without him, no Scrimgeour, no McClaggen) then why in the world would they want to include something as mundane and useless as Quidditch matches in HBP? The makers have finally gone round the bend in my opinion

I do see your point Mayfair, but I also think that as the Quidditch final was the catalyst for Harry's and Ginny's relationship blossoming into a full on girlfriend/boyfriend thing, it would make sense to have some of it in there. Plus, it gives Harry the chance to show how obsessed he is with chasing Draco around Hogwarts when he's late for his match.

Also, I do wonder if David Yates didn't take on some of the feedback that fans would have made about the exclusion of quidditch in OOTP - i.e. that they were really disappointed not to hear the "Weasley is our king" song.

There will be cuts of certain characters - there usually are, and what with JKR introducing new characters in each and every book, it gets harder and harder for the films to include all of them anyway.

I think that will be very interesting. First of all, we haven't seen Quidditch since the 3rd movies and secondly, Ron will be a part of it and that's certainly exciting. The whole thing will be different now.

Personally I think it's kind of important that they are bringing it back for OotP. Sure it's not the most important thing in the book but it does aid different things to the plot. So I'm really glad it's coming back!

Quidditch was better in the books than in the films. It'll be good if we get to hear Luna going "Bibbles, no Buggins" and hear MCgonagoll go "No, it's Codwallader." I loved that.
