i think i was sad when sirius died coz i just loved how much harry loved him n what bond they had and harry had only realy known him for 2 years realy as he didnt remember when he was a baby i just cried at how much pain harry was going through and i cried when he was crying because of dumbledore its so sad when he shows the amotion sad.gif

When Dobby died, it was truly sad, because it was all Harry's fault. He bent over backwards to save harry and his weak friends, and he let him get stabbed. Houselves should not have been in the war of wizards, cuz they were treated as inferiors no matter what, so who cares. Dobby was the coolest of everybody, holding it down for his kind.

No votes for Cedric, or Mad-Eye, or Colin? *sigh*

I am torn between Sirius and Fred.. and Lupin, a little. I picked Sirius in the end; I think I was most upset when he died, because I didn't expect it. The rest - well, I didn't think the seventh book would be too merciful to our favorite characters, so I was a little more prepared. But honestly, I would have preferred no deaths at all. Among the good guys, that is.

I have a few deaths that really hit me hard:

Sirius - Obviously. He's my favourite marauder and he was probably my favourite character there fore a while and when he died, I cried for sure!

Dumbledore - In that moment, I was sure the sky was going to fall. That was the death I least expected and that took me a while to recover. Dumbledore is such a hero.

Fred - As I've posted in another thread just now, his death is probably the most poetic, for me, because he was the character who could make us laugh and the fact that he died laughing is symbolic to his character. That was a heartbreaker.

Tonks and Lupin - I was very very angry with J.K. Rowling over killing these two. This was the first moment in the book where I wanted to throw the book out the window. (The other was when Harry died...even though he didn't really.) The fact that I felt so much anger for J.K. Rowling makes me appreciate her because her writing makes people emotional and this is what good writing is.

I voted for Dumbledore as the most favourite among the dead, though I liked Fred Weasly and Dobby equally.
Ginny&Harryforever
My favorite characters that die in the series are Sirius, Dumbledore, and Lupin. They were all very important to Harry so the fact that almost every "father figure" that Harry has in the series dies, except for Arthur Weasley is just really sad... sad.gif
missmalfoy
I really couldnt decide but i chose dobby because he was a great little elf who gave his life 4 da trio. but that was sad that snape died in vain though, i cried for that. aldo the death of fred was super sad too! sad.gif
danluver501
This one took me a while. At first I thought Sirius because he was a great person in general. He helped Harry through some tough times and was a good guy all around. Then I thought of Dumbledore. He led the school through hardship and times of peace and tried to help Harry in the long run... But in the end I still think that Harry has mixed feelings about him after all that suff that Rita Skeeter wrote. And then I thought of Dobby. The great little house elf that saved the Trio.I cried a little inside with everyone of these ppl who died. But in the end I chose Sirius because he was probally one of the greatest losses to Harry and we (the fans) lost the man the would have helped Harry out a lot in the end.

My favorite character that dies would have to be Fred Weasley. I mean I loved all of the other characters, except for maybe two,but Fred was my favorite. I loved how outgoing he was, especially with George(of course). And now it just isn't the same with Fred, there is no Fred and George any more, its just George...not as fun sad.gif
HermioneFan214
up until book seven, dumbledore's death had me the most. But what really got me was Fred dying. I literally wanted to just rip the page out and forget it happened. Fred was one of the first magical people Harry ever met (at king's cross) and he had been there in every book, as a close friend and someone we all grew to love. Not to mention the fact that he was a TWIN. I don't understand how george would be able to go on without fred, which made it all the more worse for me to take. George and Fred had also done everything together, they were best friends and brothers.

It was also a devastating blow to take away someone who had been able to put some lightheartedness into dark times.
Snapefan21
Well, you probably can tell from my name, I pick Snape
Throughout the whole series, I was convinced that he was on the good side. And when I got to his death scene, I chucked the book on the floor and burst into tears. Yeah, I know its pitiful. And it's going to happen in the theater, too. eeek.gif .
So when I picked up the book again after supper, and read his true loyalty, I was extremely relieved. He wasn't with Voldemort!
But for the next few days, I was really sad. Snape was.....gone.
And I know it's just a character in a book, but still......
Rachelle-is-a-Ravenclaw
i really felt for sirius even though his cause of death was partly due to drapery, it doesn't seem justified that he should have died being the only bit of family harry had left, and what's more, he seemed a caring person with a good heart, oh well what goes around comes around, and that's exactly what happened to Bellatrix. Fred's death was a bit of a heartache though, he so devilishly sweet, it was a shame it really was.
Nasuada
This is actually a very hard question for me. My first choice was Fred. His death hit me really hard and I was really upset. I kinda had a feeling that it was coming, but I still wasn't ready for it. I even cried when I read that part. But oddly enough, my second choice would be Cedric Diggory. The character! In the book. I didn't like Cedric in the movie at all, so just the character in the book. He was my favorite boy character. I could say I was really sad for all the other deaths too. Snape was another favorite. I liked really all those characters except Bellatrix and Sirius. I mean, those two were good, but not my favorites.

nadadurr0
I noticed in the polls that Sirius and Fred are the most favorite characters to have died in the series. I too had the same dilemma, whether to pick Sirius or Fred. I picked Sirius because I thought his death affected Harry (and me, of course!) the most. He shouldn't have died at all in the first place and if at all he HAD to die, he should have been alive at least till the last part. His death was premature :-(
Amycusboi
O MY! I chose Bellatrix! I thought that, when she was fighting, if she hadn't goofed off during the duel she might of one. All she did was taunt Molly and fool around. tongue.gif
wrighty07
i chose dumbledore because i thought he was a great wizard but it was close between him lupin and fred
haleeylovesfred
Fred and Cedric, they were both so young and had families, plus Fred was just so awesome and I could relate to him. So sad, I cried hardest when he died
sockr24
my favorite character that died would have to be dumbledore just because he was the kind old man that strove to help everyone and to give everyone a second chance no matter what. dobby is second though. his death was the hardest for me because he was an innocent little elf and was different than everyone of his kind, and was killed in the home of his ex owners.
mugglelovrspew
I think the death that hit me the hardest was either Dumbeldore or Fred. I don't think any of us expected JKR to kill Fred, maybe Dumbeldore. I thought DD would of lived through the whole thing, but Fred never even crossed my mind! I'm rereading DH, and dreading the end. I sort of wish she had killed some of the mainish characters, like Hermione, Ron or someone because that would of been tragic.
MagicTrioFan11
I think that my top three would have to be Sirius, Dumbledore, and Fred. Like mugglelovrspew said, i think that no one really thought or really considered that JKR would kill Fred which is why i chose his death as the one that affected me the most. I just finished rereading Deathly Hallows again and wow, when i got to that part my eyes started to get all teary and i just felt so sad! sad.gif Even though i already knew what happened it still affected me basically just the same.

Seriouslysirius
It would be literally be impossible for me to decide. All of those characters gave something new and brillant to the series... However if i had to lean to one side I would single out Dumbledore and Snape. Simply because they where both extremely brave throughout the books. That's not to say the others werent but both of them held something brillant about them. I can't quite explain prehaps it was because Snape died alone and wrongly acussed and Dumbledore because he's the kind of person that I think everyone needs at one point in their lives. But Sirius was always a wonderfully brillant character in my eyes... Ahh something i might not be able to answer I fear. smile.gif
PirateGirl
Hedwig was my favorite character that died. She was Harry's first real friend. And she died while she was angry with Harry.
jodiemlyknhim
Its so hard for me to decide.. there is so many deaths that i was really upset at. I was probably most upset at Sirius's, Dumbledore's, Lupin's, Fred's and Tonk's deaths tho.[font=Tahoma]
webs2009
It was a hard decision but i felt such a surge of emotoin after reading the chapter of Snape's memories that i had to choose him...all along i hated Snape but after reading DH i see him in an entirely new light and i admire his devotion to Lily
DeSs
I picked Dobby! As Chelsea, my first choice was Fred, because everybody's missing that guy! He, always fighting the bad times with laugh at his brother's side, why did he have to die?? But then I thought... Dumbledore! The old, madly brilliant wizard, if he had been alive, Harry hadn't gonne through so much pain and everything would have been easier! But, haha! said I, things would have been worse if Dumbledore had been alive! And Harry wouldn't have learn a thing! Then of course Sirius crossed my mind. But then again, Lupin. And then Tonks. So, finally, I picked Dobby. Why? Because I'm schizophrenic elves were fighting a war that didn't concern them as first sight, just like centaurs said, and even when we know it's not true, because if Voldemort won, magical creatures would be even more subjugated to pure-blood maniacs, elves didn't think about it, well, they could have closed their eyes after all, if they already suffered a lot and no one complained! But they fought, and Dobby was the very first in fighting and helping wizards not because of their natural duty, but because he wanted to. So, I think it's very unfair he had to die eeek.gif
harryjpotter
Sirius of course!!! Siriusly, that was just mean, he's built up over three books and ends up being the best character in all the books and gets killed off just like that. Ms Rowling, I will never forgive you for that mad2.gif
Jake Payle
I have to go with Forge. He was always on the good side, and even though reading up to the death was a little predictable (he died like Siruis and Bellatrix) I cried. Now, everytime I read DH I cry at some point. She killed off some of the best characters, and now all we have is an earless twin.
Hermod
With the exception of Arthur Weasley, all of the characters that were "father figures" to Harry have bought the farm (Sirius, Remus, Dumbledore, Moody).
Severus's Daughter!!
Severus Snape because i've like him from the start to the end. As soon as i read the last book when Severus dies i couldn't stop crying for an hour but when i did stop crying and read Severus's memories i started crying again because i could tell he loved Lily with all his heart. So i would like to say R.I.P. Severus Snape. sad.gif
Minyahilwen
I hated the dead of many characters... dobby for instance.. so brave.
I cried my eyes out when he died. But when Fred died i couldn't believe it!!!
I read it 3 times because i couldn't believe it!!
He was so sweet en without him en george the books wouldn't be half as funny!
And now he is gone.. is so sad
sabrina
I was really shocked when Fred died. i wonder why Rowling made him die. I wonder if George kept weasley's wizard wheezees going after he died. I was also very sad after Tonks and Lupin died because they had just had Teddy.
FollowTheSpiders
I was so upset when Fred died! It was between Fred and Sirius because they are just the most loving (and funny) characters. I also am sad that Lupin died, but not nearly as sad as when Fred did. Fred was more of a shock than Sirius.
xoxMIA MALFOYxox
I was devastated when Fred died, I started crying because Fred and George are two of my favorite characters because they are funny and carefree. I was also sad when Dobby died because he was always trying to protect Harry and didnt deserve to die.
Pendulum
I was trying to decide between Fred and Dobby.
I think Dobby was one of the most hard-hitting deaths because he died in more of an isolated incident and they had time to mourn him, whereas Fred was killed in the heat of the battle. Eventually I chose Fred because he's been there through all the books with Harry, always the happy smiley ones, and because he was generally one of the best characters in the series.
RIP
LadyDMalfoy
When I was reading the book then saw that Fred died I was completely stunned. How could Fred die?!? He's one of the best characters in the series! I loved Fred; he was very funny. Also, it is like the weasley set is not complete. There is George...then no Fred. RIP Fred sad.gif
Blue-haired Baby
To be perfectly honest, I was a little sick through much of the book because each death was disturbing. I was in denial about Mad-Eye and kept expecting him to pop up again later in the book. Then Hedwig dying just seemed down-right cruel. Fred made me cry because of poor George! I figured poor Lupin was done-for before I first opened the book so that wasn't unexpected, although I wish he'd been given a grander exit.

The saddest by far for me was Tonks because it seemed so pointless, like it was only done to create an orphan. I mean she shows up late (what's up with that?), is described as running around in a frenzy searching for Remus (wouldn't an Order member be focused on...I dunno...helping to fight?), and then is mentioned as dead like an after-thought. It was a harsh and uncharacteristic end to her story in my opinion.
MrBubbles
Lupin and Tonks since I mean come on they had just got a son, thatīs just really unfortunate(especially since theyīre among my favorite characters).

My biggest problem with book 7 was in fact the fact that so many people died. I mean I know itīs a war and that alot of people die in wars but it all happens so fast in those last chapters that I had a hard time really feeling anything when these people died.

Okay, well this is one of the hardest things I've done in a while. I love most of the characters who died... J.K.R. killed all of my favorites... She ticked me off majorly with several deaths, becayse they were all afterthoughts. I wanted to burn the woman alive for doing that.. Anyway, here we are.

First off, Severus - I had always loved him so much, but I knew lis life was close to being over. It was just known. But I mean, you couldn't read his memories after I read it. Tearstains were everywhere; it was really depressing. He was the best, but everyone hated him. He was the bravest man EVER in that series, you cannot deny it.

Tonks and Lupin - they were the main problem that I had with the book. Wouldn't JKR think that we would want to know anything and everything about their deaths? I wanted to murder the woman bcause of her heartlessness. It was evn worse when she stumbled across the fact that they were dead. They just had a friggin' baby and she goes off and kills them... It ticks me off and I wish I could change that. sleep.gif

Colin - this is by far the worst death ever. I've always loved Colin; he was just so adorable. I still think of him as that cute little first year who was Harry's biggest fan. Why did he have to die? He wasn't impotant to anything; there was not reason at all for her to kill him! He had a family; there WAS NO REASON for him to die. JKR is just a mean person. sleep.gif

This doesn't really fit, but I was laughing my butt off at Bella when she died. That's going to be different if they have that in the movie. I'm going to be sad because I love Helena and she's alwys been one of my favorite actresses ever. It'll be sad to watch her die. sleep.gif

Linux felicis
I was really sad when Snape died but I saw it coming. I was also heartbroken when Hedwig died! Why is she not included in the poll? sad.gif
MrBubbles
I just relised something. Nobody has voted for Moody and I mean nobody.

I would certanly undo my vote for Lupin so I could vote for the poor guy(Not that heīd care about something like this but still).
Canidae
When Fred died I was completely stunned. When I turned to the next chapter it was still surreal that she had just killed him and I sort of floated through the remainer. When I realized that Tonks and Lupin were killed, I lost it. I was more angry that she left another kid orphaned in the series than killing a Weasley. I was in denial for awhile about the Tonks/Lupin death.

In a way, I guess I expected the death of Dobby. He was too sweet of a character to live in the new evil world of Voldemort. I think Dobby's death woke Harry up and made him determined to destroy the Horcruxes. His death stabs at you the most because it was a senseless killing of a hopeful and innocent character.

Dobby's death seemed similar to Sirius'. The whole scene felt like it went in slow motion and you couldn't shake your sadness. Again, it was that floating feeling. I thought JKR did her "murdering" very tastefully, even though the body count at the end of the series was extremely frustrating.
DracosLady
For the most part most of the deaths in the series were sad. I couldn't believe it when Fred died though, that was such a shocker to me, as well asthe death of Colin Creevey. Considering after CoS he hasn't been seen in the movies and is scarcely mentioned in the book series that much after CoS either. So yeah both of those were a shocker to me. It was sad when Dobby died though. He died for a good cause, he had always been grateful to Harry for "freeing" him. So yeah those three deaths were really unexpected as well as sad for me....
Lily Luna Potter
The death that affected me the most was Fred Weasely's. I felt so bad for George. He will never be the same without his twin. I mean, who will finish his sentences for him sad.gif They were so funny together. But I can understand why he had to die. It would just be unrealistic if none of the Weasleys was dead during that war. One of the great thing about Jo's series is that she makes it so real and genuine that it personifies life on so many levels and that's why readers can relate to it so well.

I was depressed about Lupin and Tonks death cause I love theirs characters. Jo said she did that cause she wanted to start the series with an orphan and end it with another after the both wars. But it's nice to know that Teddy Lupin had a less reckless and caring god father compared to Harry.

How Snape died was ruthless and undeserving. Curse you Voldermort! But the good thing is he got to look into his true love's eye before his last breath.
MoonFighter
My favorite character who died in the series was Sirius Black. I'm still mourning over his death, he didn't have to eeek.gif

But from the DH...I was shocked at Dobby's death. I would've expect it less, honestly. Somehow, I knew that one of the Weasley had to die, but I didn't expect to be Fred sad.gif I was going for Percy or even Arthur..but no, Fred was taken instead sad.gif
And Colin Creevey's death! Oh my god, that was the most shocking death after Tonks and Lupin. I couldn't believe what I was reading, I thought I was seeing double or something! That little kid has died? It was impossible. But it was possible and true.
JKR killed lots of good characters in DH and that made me very sad. Oh, and in a way I was hoping for Snape to live, but he was taken too T.T

It was kinda hard to go on reading, but I remember that in my state of shock I couldn't even cry over their deaths. But at a second reading, my eyes were never-ending watering. It was like they were my close relatives and just died eeek.gif

It was the most dead book ever sad.gif
