I think I will always love harry potter and the emotions I felt watching him grow up. This is the only series that will be remembered from my childhood because I grew up with Harry Potter and when I have kids I want them to read it to. I will always love harry potter even if i am not always obsessed with it.
Phoenix_1
I'm sure I will because it was written in such a way that not only it egaged children but adults; besides the series have a realistic plot, in the sense that it doesn't show a perfect world in which everybody lives in perfect harmony.
These are the kind of books that, I think, would be cherished for years and years.
Season
I think I will still remember that book. It left a mark in my life but I'm not sure if I would be hooked on to it. I'll probably remember the story line and most of the stuff and tell my kids about it. I hope I can still remember all the lessons and morals because eventually, time takes away some memories...I'll still like it but I'm not going to be..I dunno..really think it matters or something. Hard to explain..Sometimes I become obsessed with stuff and after a while, it didn't really matter to me anymore. I hope that never happens because HP rocks!
lancelot243
I am sure that I will continue to love HP for my whole life. The books are written so well, and you can continue to read them over and over and they are still amazing. SO, I am sure that I will always love these books...

I will always love HP. Though I may not be as *cough* obsessed as I am now... you know, five posters of Dan up in my room... *cough* anyway, I'm sure that if I have kids, I'll give them the books. These are special, to be loved forever. JK is an amazing author, and I'm sure I'll always read them.

Harry has been a big part of my life, and I think that I'll never stop loving the books. of course there are some that I like most than the others, but I see myself in the future, reading it to my kids before they go to sleep... I wish I could share the magic, love and passion that I feel for the books wih everyone, specially my kids!
lp_supastar
I grew up knowing Harry and everone in the HP series, so I will always remember that. Perhaps I will grow out of it in later years, but when i have kids I know I'll want them to read it too. It'd be cool for them to have someone to grow up with, just as we all have. The best thing would be to pick up HP again after a good ten years break or so and be like, "Oh my god, I remember this so well!!"
Potions Mistress
I am convinced that I will like the books forever. I'm an avid reader so I like many books, but what makes Harry Potter series particularly special for me is that I remember the emotions that accompanied me reading these books. (Let’s face it, there are not many books that have made me cry my eyes nearly out while reading them).

I really know what I am talking about because I already have one such experience. Right after learning to read when I was six, I read The Children of Bullerbyn by Astrid Lindgren. I've remembered enjoying the book ever since, and though these are kid stories I keep returning to the book for basically 19 years now. So, yes, I'm convinced I will keep loving and returning to Harry Potter even when I'm, let's say, forty or fifty.

Obsessions certainly do fade away, and my obsession with Harry Potter will do likewise, but the nice feeling when I sit down with one of the books and feel at home with it will remain.

And, lp_supastar, it will be even better when in "a good ten years" you take the book, still remembering something of it but not everything anymore, and you will go through it and keep saying, “oh how could I have forgotten this or that!” And you will enjoy the books all the more because you will know them so well on the one hand, but on the other you will be discovering the forgotten bits and pieces again.

I will always like Harry Potter. The books were a part of my childhood and were the topic of many discussions between me and my friends. It will probably be used at some point to break the awkward silence between myself and them at some point when we meet again after not being able to see each other for reasons unknown at the minute.

The book yes. I believe it will still be one of the most read books after 20 yrs. I hope Bloosburry and Scholastics will continue to print the books, changing covers suited for that generation.
It will be great that after 20 years there will be a remake of the movies. I believe after 20 years the tastes on the cinematic effects of the kids definitely will change. Not only cinematic effects but maybe new touch of the director will cover some that were not covered in the films of HP today.... I think that will be great and another box office!!

Certainly,
i can't see my life without harry potter, i'll read it forever. when i have sons i'll give them these books .the history, the emotion and the magic will never be forget.
I'LL READ THESE BOOKS UNTIL DIE
LONG LIFE TO HARRY POTTER
tonks&lunalvr
I am positive I will love Harry Potter as long as I live. They are such awesome stories that I'll read them years down the road and remember all about growing up with Harry. When my children are little, and learning to read, we'll read Harry Potter again, and they too will experience the magic. These books captivate and amaze both the old and the young. They start up imaginations, and get peole to dream again, to believe that magic is possible. Ü

See that's the question. I can't answer completely. Who knows what will happen in 20 years. It's a long time! I hope to still lvoe Harry Potter. I don't think i will like it as much i mean i wont be fanatcic - like child fanatic. If you know what i mean... ( Am i mkaeing sense.) Harry Potter wil always have a place in my book. To read over and over again. It will never die it may quieten down but it will always be alive in me. I hope... So heres hopeing that i will still love it in 20 years time!
crazy4u
Of course I will like Harry Potter in 20 years! biggrin.gif I don't see a reason why I shouldn't!I am a huge fan,I've been reading the books for ... years (I lost counting!) and I will not stop reading them because they are amazing. And kids and family should learn about them, too.

I think I will like Harry Potter even after twenty years. Years may pass but my love or the series will never die. Lol
Anyway, I think that I have like this series from the year that the first book was published, and that I think was already eight years and that’s saying something already, imagine reading and waiting for an entire series for eight years, and I still can’t get enough, so maybe after twenty years I will still love them. If ever I will have my own children, I think I will pass on the craze over to them, because like me they will surely love the books.

I'm positive, that in 20 years I will still love Harry Potter. I don't think I'll be spending as much time with the books and discussions and so on, but I'll never EVER forget how much Hary Potter affected me in 10 years! Harry Potter has added so much to my life. It sort of felt like everything had changed after I read the first book. It's hard to explain, but I felt something inside me had changed. And I knew that I'd never have that feeling about any other books ever. They're just very special.

HARRY POTTER FOR EVER wub.gif happy.gif
HP#1_wee_lil'
Yep, Yep, Yep!! Definatley will. Do you excpect me just to abandon it because it came out a long time ago or I get 'too old' for it? Of course not! I'll help make sure that Harry Potter isn't just restricted to this generation. As soon as they are old enough to read these books, I'll let my children read them and I'll show them the films no matter how old and outdated they may be by that time. Obviously I won't be the only one doing that. I've seen many a comment that says that.

Harry Potter is a phenomenom that is not going to be forgotten easily. Things like this last for a very long time. If you take a look at any classic book, Lord of the Rings for example, it was written over fifty years ago or something, but that is me just getting round to reading it. Harry Potter will be the same. And the we will be able to proudly say that we were the original fans, the true fans that will continue to bring in new fans as the years go by.

I do plan on brainwashing my kids into reading it...
But then I'll burst into tears and be like, 'That was me when I was younger!' *cheesy inspirational music riff* Plus, because it's not set in any perticular time zone, does it really matter when we read it?

After 20 years?Even after a 100 years I swear that I'll never forget HP ever.J.K Rowling,You are really amazing and I don't know how you do it .You have found a really big space in the hearts andI'll help make sure that Harry Potter isn't just restricted to this generation. Definitely, to add in my previous post on this thread...
Only Harry Potter has the very wide range of audience that made its way to the hall of success.
I use to compare this with LTOR trilogy. See, generations have past and yet still famous up to now. How much more is the HP....

Would I still like The Harry Potter books in 20 years?
Yes!!!! You can't just spend (For me) Over half your life spending every moment of every day thinking about them just to ditch them 20 years later!
But I agree, 20 years is a long time and who knows what will happen in that time? However I honestly can't see myself not being obsessed with Harry Potter.
But SeverusBlack you are right, it is a classic like LOTRs and will be remembered for a long, long time. It also shares a lot of other simeralities (sp.) with Lord Of the Rings...
potterwatch07
Absolutely, I love the series, and will be reading them all over again, and again. I am also going to share the books with my children. They love the movies, but right now books without pictures do not interest them. When they are old enough to enjoy them I will read them with them. I also want to share the wizarding world with my grandchildren.
ronluver7
i luv harry potter. i dont know if i could live without it.so in 20 years i'll still luv it. when i have kids i will pass the books on to them so that they can read the awesomest books in the world.
james pickles
Awww how could I live without my buddy Harry. We've been through some funny times lol. Nah I can't imagine life with Harry Potter, in a strange way.. I know this sounds like I need to get a life but the books have become like one of my best friends. I love them all and no one will ever take them away from me...unless I get hit in the head by a ladder or something and forget everything but apart from that...I'l always love Harry biggrin.gif
Forbidden Riot
^lol at the first line...

I can't say whether I will or not right now...who knows where any of us will be in 20 years. But I love the books, I'll re-read them for ever if i can! They've thought me a lot of new words!! tongue.gif
Mundu
Gosh is anyone allowed to say that they won't?? I think they might be kicked off the site for not being the real deal laugh.gif

Will I like Harry Potter in 20 years? Absolutely. I love Harry Potter. I will always love Harry Potter. I will force my children to listen as I emotionally relive my childhood whilst reading the series aloud. But perhaps the passion will lessen (understandable now that it's pretty much all over).

HP does have staying power, I think. It has so much depth and culture in it, not to mention the fact that it made history, that it is hard for it not to last.

*smirk* I took my own self off this site. I know the answer is a definite no since I returned Deely Heely to the store for my money back 2 weeks after it’s release. You could say I’ve kicked Jo out of my house.

In the future I think most kids will watch the movies, but never read the text. A good example is Wizard of Oz! How many out there actually read the series compared to those who’ve seen the movie?

You just can’t re-create hype. I love that I got to enjoy the speculation and a spectacular release party, but for me, it’s over y’all. But I'll always treasure those old moments.

I do think the HP series, like Britney Spears, are being examined by business closer for the impact of the internet upon sales. Can it be done again? Now there's a worthy challenge...gimme gimme! gimme gimme! tongue.gif

I think I'll always love the HP books and movies, but I don't think I'm as obsessed as I can be at this age. Then they are also fun to read/watch, but your interest change as you grow older, so I think you will see it diffirently than.
SeverusBlack
Definitely. And I would love to read it to my grand children.
Well I hope and pray that I am still alive after 20 yrs. Nevertheless I would pass it on to my children so they can pass it on to their children.. biggrin.gif
Belladawna
I'm positive I'll like HP in 20 yrs. As someone else said, I doubt I'll be nearly as obsessed then as I am now blush.gif but the books are a good read. They offer a fabulous escape from day-to-day life, for adults and kids alike. I have every intention of reading them to my children, and hopefully they'll love them as much as I do!
K.Lupin_werewolf
i think yes.
because when lotr died down i still stayed true to it. I still love it and i can imagine that i shall still be in love with Harry Potter in years to come. i know that...it's for certain. its not just because it's great and has been one of my greatest adventures but also because it is part of me. stories i write would not be alive now if it weren't for J.K's books! so i don't think i shall ever forget!! never ever....
HermioneGyrl2251
Absolutely,

The reason i say that is because if you really love something then no matter what you should stay true to it. That is not to say that I will be as obsessed with it then as I am now, but just like I still do with my Anne of Green Gables and The Chronicles of Narnia books, I will pull them out and still loose myself in my imagination.
twiggysun
I'm sure, without a doubt, that I will still love Harry Potter in 20 years!!! Even if the story doesn't interest me anymore (very unlikely, but you never know) there will still be all the memories I have from reading these books and living towards the release of one of the books or the movies... I have the same thing with other movies I really loved when I was little. The story doesn't have the same effect on me anymore, but the feeling I have when watching the movie or thinking about it is still the same. Harry Potter will stay with me for the rest of my life!!
luckyfish
I think I would still have the whole book collection! So, yes I would remember it!
I think it would be like those times when our parents tell us the kind of things they used to love reading or doing and how obsessed my mom was over this actor "back then" biggrin.gif

I guess I would be the same with my children and I think that the memories of your childhood obsession would be awesome to remember and even talk to your old friends about how you would not sleep the night before th book release or how you would save up money so that you can go send it on Harry Potter merchandise! happy.gif
Besides,I think Harry Potter would go down as one of my top 20 books to read in life smile.gif
x3christenx
Of course we all will, all those hard-forgiving lovable times in the book we will never forget! although daniel radcliffe will already be 39 years old.. LOL i dont think he'll be able to make the 27th edition of harry potter movies.. smile.gif
Dumbledore's Widow
I don't think that I will get kicked off for saying that I doubt I will still like the HP series in 19 ... er, excuse me, 20 years. tongue.gif

I was one of the HP fans that became disillusioned with the series after book 6 was released, and it just went down hill from there. Especially with the way Rowling conducts herself in interviews, and adds things to what is already canon. So, for me, I just don't see that I will be interested in the Harry Potter books in the future.

Sad, but true.

Griff_90
Harry Potter will of course be one of the dearest memories from my childhood. I practically grew up with him (we all did), and the story will hopefully live in all of us forever. I will read and reread and reread the books again, until I turn grey and old so I always can keep the world of magic close to my heart. At least that is what I intend to do, I doubt it will turn out like that :/

I willl always keep the Harry Potter books in my booshelf though, and with no doubt make my own children read them. Hopefully the series will become a classic that never dies. In 40 years or so the movies might be rerecorded, because the old ones will (most proboably) become old fashion. (Not that that is anything to hope for, since I LOVE the originals so much)...

I say this because as a fan I am scared by the thought that I might forget about Harry Potter some day, he means too much to me now.
James Bond
No. I don't like it now laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
SeverusSnapefan
I will certainly love them in 20 years!
Maybe,as some have said, not as obssessively as I do now,but they will be the first thing I read to my children........when I have them. cool.gif

Afterall they are great books, that have been very well written and can appeal to people of any age.
gina hp iz ace

i think that it is ace

iv got one of my friends a christmas prezent and it is all Harry Potter

lycan41
Lets see, in 20 years, I'll be 61. For those of you who are younger than I am, I can tell you, well written books with a facinating and compelling story line will never go away. Tolken's books were written in the 1950's, my mother read them, and I have yet to read them. People were in a frenzy over the movies as well, I have all 3 and still watch them on a regular basis. Stephen King has a 7 book series called " The Dark Tower Series" and I've read the first 5 books twice and the last 2 once. I've read the "Harry Potter " series 3 times, (book 5 is my favorite).

I will most definitly be interested in HP in 20 years.

Of course i will like Harry Potter in 20 years...a true Harry Potter fan would. If i ever decide to have kids when they are old enough i am going to read them Harry Potter!!!

The books are timeless.I think I would read all 7 parts every year or two, till I'm about 70!
And I think that the next genetations will also be hooked on it.
