Hello hello hello, this is a brand new wicked awesome idea that I came up with!!!! I opened this for discussion about when M.A.D. should take place, this will only be a little fun holiday on VTM, and I hope it will be a bomb!!

M.A.D. means "Mod Appreciation Day". I thought these Mods should have a little holiday thing for their hard work they have put in to make VTM a better and funner place!!!

Now, on M.A.D., we go here on this thread and put up little thank you's and congrats, poems, riddles, jokes, and fun to all the Mods, use your imagination!! I need everyone to pitch in and help me figure out when M.A.D. should take place, and give good reasonings, I want the Mods to help out too!! When I find a date that I find reasonable, I'll post it up, with a little help from a Mod...guess which one? That's right, our new Head Mod, Passersby!!!!!!!!! I want you to help me with this since Louise stepped down and gave you the post of Head Mod!!! Thank You!!!!

I think it is a great idea why shouldn't we honor those who keep this site frendly and fun. Maybe on harry's birthday. I mean that is when all of this started with the harry potter nation why shouldn't we make it a little more special and support our MODs on that day.

Well I'm a newbie here but I've already had a nice experience with the mods. They are awesome people dedicated to helping us and keeping things in order throughout the site. They make a friendly and cozy environment for all of us fans out here. They should definetly have a day!

Yes, i agree with this. It takes a lot of effort to maintain this site and moderators are among those people who are maintaining this forum to be alive and interesting.

I absolutely love the idea.
After all the effort they do to keep this site running, to give them some kind of holiday is the least we could do.

What a really good idea. I’m surprised that this doesn’t already exist I think each Mod’s appreciation day should be on their birthday so we can post thanks and wish them I happy birthday at the same time

All the Mods on this thread are very helpful and VTM would be lost without them. Go Mods!

Yeah, I like that idea. Mods deserve an appreciation day! I think they work hard enough... I like it. Being on Harry's birthday would be a good idea... cool!

It is a great idea. Actually though instead of having it on there birthday or just once a year or something why don't we have it once a month on a certain day? That way we can truly appreciate our MODS without feeling rushed and stuff. Also, if there birthday has already past then that kind of stinks you know?

Mods, I hope you guys think about this idea and give it your okay. It would be a great way for the rest of us who use the forums to show some appreciation.

Well I posted here yesterday saying that mod appreciation day should perhaps be on their birthdays but now after reading your post nevillesgirl I have to say I have changed my mind and now I agree with you:
I think maybe we have a mod appreciation day at the beginning of each month. The first of each month in easy to remember And we can thank them for all the help they have given us in the month just past

That's a fab idea. Well i think once a month sounds great. Yet i suppose to make it even more of a special occasion. I think prehaps a bigger gap. Like two months so M.A.D can be made a bigger and better event then the last once. I dunno it's just my opinon but i think once a month might make it seem slighter repatative and that. But i'm not sure. A month or two months. Anything sounds great. Anything less than a once would seem rushed i think.

i think it's a really good idea! they should all recieve a bit of appreciation for all the hard work they put into this site, making it such a great place to visit! so why shouldn't they get a whole day just to thank them!(but when i say it like that, a day just doesn't seem enough!)
but i do agree that it could be a bit repetative if it was once a month, so every other month would probably be a bit better!
but thats just my opinion!

Hmmmmm...I do like the first day of every other month, it's not quite AS often, I think your all on to something!!!!!! But, to make it official, we have to take it to our trusty Mods!!! I'll wait until Passerby, our new Head Mod, visits this topic!! But...is the first day of every other month fine with EVERYBODY? It's not fair if there's a group out there that disagrees with this, yes, this CAN go on forever, but it's only fair...

Hey, guys! First off, I just want to tell you how much the mods appreciate your support and your enthusiasm and your appreciation for us. Thank you for all of the wonderful things you've said and your dedication to the VTM Forums! However, we do not want to give off any impressions that we are staff members because we want recognition and praise. We are staff members because we, like you, are dedicated HP fans who have found a wonderful home here on VTM and we want to work hard for VTM so that everyone can have the same wonderful experience here as we have had starting when we were regular members ourselves.

In light of that, and it's hard to say this without sounding unappreciative of your ideas and times, but we don't want our own special day for appreciation! The best way to show us your appreciation is to be active here at the VTM forums and abide by the rules! That's really all we ask for. Our participation in a thread dedicated to our appreciation would seem a bit selfish and self-serving, so I do hope you'll understand this from our point of view.

As this thread does seem popular, I will leave it open for the time being. If you'd like, perhaps you can just use this to talk about your positive experiences with staff members here at VTM. Please do not use it to bash any staff member or the staffing team, though, if you've had a less than desirable encounter. It happens and we are far from perfect, but anything like that should be taken care of via PM.

Again, your thoughts and enthusiasm really are warmly accepted, but please do not give us our own special day! We are blessed enough just serving the VTM forums!

And no one has posted since passerby dropped the gauntlet. More than anything else I have seen today, that has made me smile. Thank you everyone on VTM for the perfect timing that made that moment so hilarious.

edit: Reading back over my comment, I do want to make it clear that I am not laughing at any of the members who posted here. Your apprectiation for the mods is noticed and certainly appreciated in return. My warped sense of humor was merely laughing at the situation.

Our wonderful members open a thread to show appreciation for the mods, and then a mod says that it isn't really necessary. After which, no one defies the almighty mod by posting any further praise. At the time I edited this, no one had posted in the appreciation thread for about 36 hours. Somehow, that is very funny to me.

I still think it is a nice idea to show other appreciation. Even though the MODs say they don't want it I still think that this tread brought a smile to their face and hopefully a small sense of satisfaction of a job well done.

As the creator of this thread, I feel that I should give something to all the Mods that stop by here;

It's a great idea to open up this new thread to give appreciation to all those really hard-working moderators! A HUGE thank you, from me [although it isn't really worth much] for keeping this site up and running, and enforcing strict rules on how forums should be run. Although some may be frustrated with them, it really does keep this site in good shape. Thank you so much Mods for dedicating your time and effort to get this site successful and working! I am really grateful.

I think this is a nice idea, but why wait until a certain day? Surely we can show our appreciation whenever we want! It's not as if the Mods only work one day a year and therefore we just thank them then, so whenever we have a strong urge to thank the Mods for all they've done for us, just say it! Don't wait until Harry's birthday, or any Mod's birthday or anything like that, just come right out with it and leave it on this thread!

I want to thank passerby for reviewing my beta application and confirming me as a VTM-approved beta! And of course, my name you're a great Mod and you never fail in keeping the forums nice and friendly for any ages to read, so cheers to that!

And etphonehome - I've never really had much to do with you, but you really do keep the forums clean and running, and a bad comment never goes amiss - with any mod for that matter! I remember when you posted on my feedback when I was getting all excited about Kevin Keegan's return to Newcastle - no hard feelings, just a thanks for clearing that up with us!

And to all the other Mods I haven't mentioned, because I don't know the names of all of you, but you all do a great job at VTM. I know passerby said it's more of a hobby than a chore because they are devoted HP fans as much we all are, but there's no denying that you all do a brillint job at everything!

This seems to be debating back and forth and it seems as though some people have taken the Mods the wrong way and I actually think After The Burial's comment after Passerby's was quite funny! It was funny how people can be mistaken by the little things and take things the wrong way! Hey! I didnt see the thread before so i didn't post.. First of all i want to wish all the Mods and Thank them all them warmly.. You guys are the best.. And then i would like to mention a few mods who was very friendly with me from the beginning in my newbie days.. One of them is Alkisti.. he/she is very kind and helped me from the beginning and i still love debating with him/her in the Forbidden Forest.. Then there is Albus-wan. Thanks for accepting me in the Dueling Club and everything like that.. I also want to thank a special mod who first welcomed me here but i don't remember his/her name.. Thank you to etaphonehome for reminding me my faults and also i would like to say that VTM Moderator board is very active.. Once when i was in Moderator preview..if i post about 1 hour later the post will be cleared..so thanks.

Hey! It's been awhile since someone posted a thanks, so I think I'll do it!! Thanks to everyone on here (mods and members alike) for all their help and for having VTM even exist! It something that me and my sister now have in common (thats not a very big list!). So anyways, you all do a good job, I can't imagine running a site like this! I know it takes a lot of time and work and dedication!

Aw, I think Mods deserve this thread. I always wonder how they can manage to read every post here, in this thrillon threads we've bring up, and then I can't get upset when they get upset with us ... I guess it's such a hard work! Well, so I have to thanks to the first Mods who told me off in my first steps in this wonderful site, and taught me that a big signature is ... wrong, and that rude words are ... wrong too, and they're absolutely right, because otherwise this'd be a pandemonium. Also thanks for admitting me into the Dueling Club, for beta-ing my fics and bearing my dumby questions, and for many other reasons, to Just the Droobles, After The Burial, etphonehome, Sirren, passerby, and all of you, guys, happy day-to-day!!

I definitley think that the MODs deserve a special day at least once a year. You guys really keep VTM running smoothly, and contribute wonderfully. You have a big job to do, and do an awesome job at it. You are all so dedicated and helpful. You always know the answer to any question, and even if you don't, you know someone who does. I think M.A.D is a great idea, to acknowledge all the wonderful MODs we have here.

It is the MODs who make the world go round here! They need appreciation! I'd just like to say thank you to every single MOD on VTM for putting up with all our silly mistakes (d'oh) and never getting angry or exasperated when we just keep bugging you!

Thanks for all your hard work, it is truly great! When I first got to this site, I wasn't quite sure of the rules, what I could do and not. And the MODs helped me a lot! It is amazing that we have the MODs to help us like a bright light shining in the dark!

When I was an ickle newbie, the mods helped me out by pointing me in the right directions and what not... I think M.A.D is a great idea as i think the mods are worth being appreciated, as they're the ones that keep his awesome site running... without them... i just don't think this site would even exist...

It's a really nice idea for us to show our appreciation to the Mod's who make it such a great experience to be part of the Veritaserum community.
But just a small point: Why should the Mod's not have a day they can truly call their own? why have it on Harry's birthday?

I think giving the Mods their own day is awesome! They deserve it because otherwise, this sight would be totally crazy! They deserve to be appreciated everyday, but whenever it is should be cool too. Thank you mods for bearing with me and everyone else on this sight.

I love the mods! I was afraid when I first got on here, but now I'm not all. Thank goodness for that.

Every time I PM a mod about something, they always respond promptly and are very helpful. Recently, Nicole helped me with getting my new group L.O.L started at record speed. I was sooo happy.

Also, Triad was really patient with me with my message about missing threads earlier today. I'm not sure I would have made that nice of a reply if that message was sent to me haha. Either way I'm really happy I got my questions answered.

All of the mods on here are great. If they were evil or something I probably wouldn't use this site hahaha. They're part of what makes it enjoyable. I've been on sites before where mods are unreasonably strict or ignore all rule breaking, but vtm mods are just right.

Next time someone asks me what I want my career to be when I'm out of school, I'm going to say "A mod on veritaserum!". I'm kidding, but that would be really funny.

And passerby, you're my hero. You're everywhere at once and I don't know how you do it.

Thank you to all the mods, aurors and other staff members for working so hard to make VTM great. Special thanks to Atheonon (Darcy) for helping me with a "situation" a few months back, to Passerby for moving my fic around for me (that was fun, huh?) and PM-ing me back all day today, and to Just the Droobles for giving me the link to this thread. I couldn't find it anywhere, and I really wanted to thank you guys (gals) for all that you do!
