hey guys, passerby authorized this, I am curious about the 12 uses of Dragon bllod, and their importance to the Harry Potter books. JKR never told us anything really related to the 12 uses, the only we have that she said is oven cleaner. What are your theories on what they can be?
I think that one of the uses is decoration, since Slughorn used it on a wall.

well when they say uses, i don't think they mean uses like decoration (which is really weird) i think they mean like uses in potion making and healing and stuff like that.

When Hagrid came back after his trip with the giants, he had a slab of dragon meat against his eye. i think he said it helped his eye heal or something. The meat would obviously be covered in blood, right? That might be the only time we ever saw it in action (that i can remember), unless you count it being on the walls as some evidence that's something's happened to Slughorn (even though he was perfectly fine).

Oven cleaner isn't very medicinal, or deals with potion making, one of the uses could have been decoration, now the dragon meat could have referred to the same thing we do, when we have scratches some people just grab a steak and throw it on there, the uses could be in the books, maybe not all of them, but there might be some clues to it.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this count. It's a bit like the 131 uses for vinegar!!
This site give you vinegar remedies for every occassion. Who's to say that some alchemist many years ago, didn't come up with many of the uses.
Or maybe when she was growing up, JKR's mum would have something in the house that she used for everything from cleaning the kitchen floor to making a bad stomach go away!

Anyway...

I think that one of the uses is possible to heal large wounds. Maybe Dragon Blood can heal wounds that can't be magically healed, but if that was the case, couldn't they use Dragon Blood on Mr.Weasley for his little bite. I'm not intirely sure about this use, what do you guys think
