uhh...i shiver...ron joining the dark side?...never!

hey guys, though ron hopfully won´t join voldemort, it´s worth a thought, anyway

we all know how crule LV is towards his enemies as well as his followers, i don´t think that anyone with half a brain would join him...what if he uses the imperius-curse on ron...i really that´s more believable than ron joining the death eaters on his own will! would harry find out quick enough or doesn´t he know ron as good as he thinks? what do you think?
i mean this is the only way i could see ron "working" for the dark lord...

I definately don't see Ron joining Voldemort on his own accord. It just doesn't make any sense.
The only way he would join the "dark side" is if Voldemort used the imperius curse. I could actually see that happening in the last book. Although, I think it's a little too late for that. It's too much to cram into the last book, you know? But who knows! Anything could happen I suppose.
Ron just isn't the type to go all "evil" on everyone. It's a funny thought to picture him flipping out and killing everyone, but it just isn't going to happen.

How far do you think Ron and Hermione's relationship is going to go? Do you think they're actually going to stay together in the last book?

I personally dont like the idea of Ron and Hermione getting together ever. I think I might be fine If it were Ron and anyone else but the thought of Ron and Hermione getting together sorta makes Harry the Third wheel and it creates an awkward sorta feeling... so sorry for being so VENOM but it's what I'm here for

No, I completely agree! It would make Harry the third wheel, and put him in a different postition than he's been in before.
For me, it's just that I don't like the idea of Ron and Hermione together. It's as simple as that. It's too...random. I feel like J.K. put them together just because it's kind of what the fans wanted, and she needed another couple pairing up in the story. I know a lot of people like their relationship, but I definately don't. Of course...I'm kind of against Hermione anyways . But that's my own issue I need to work out, hehe.

I think ron and herminie need too finnaly get together, ever since about the third book maby even sooner it has been being forshadowed. My opinion though and is this The ron weasly fan club or a ship thread?
Just as side note don't harry and ron know how too throw off the imperius curse?

yes, this is what i was wondering about.
we know from the book GoF that harry fought against the imperius curse in DADA with madeye and was able to throw it off...but i´m sorry, do we know that ron and the other students were able to do the same? i definately have to look that up...or does anyone else know?
that would be very scary to find out that ron did something under the influence of the imperius curse. i mean rosmerta was and i didn´t realize it till the end of HbP (or was it just me?!)

Hi! I would love to become a member of this club! I am quite obsessed with Ron and have just taken a quiz on this website a discovered that I would be matched with him!
I love the character Ron for his amazing ability to make a reader laugh, he is truly a character and is never at a loss for words. I believe he is brave, he may not be as brave as Harry however a fear of spiders is quite common and nothing to be ashamed of! Some of my favourite quotes from Ron appear in the fourth novel and this may be partially why it is my favourite, just partially of course as the brilliant mystery and storyline are the main reasons! I will not add quotes at this time! I will mark the pages where my favourite quotes appear and note them here! Hehe his antics regarding Prof. Trelawney are always amusing!
I also admire his implementation of British slang, I enjoy that aspect of his speech very much! I have been able to learn more about the British way even though it may be exaggerated, I am unsure! That seems to be the first thing people mention about Ron when announcing their love for him. The 'british slang'. I think it's fabulous. You don't really hear anyone else talking like that in the books (and movies).

About Ron and the others being able to throw off the imperius curse, well, we know Harry can do it but that's it. I don't think we ever saw any of the others get very good at it, so it's very possible for one of them to be put under the imperius curse. I'm not saying it will happen, but there's a good chance!

i truly believe it was a good choice of JKR to let him talk like this. it gives the character something edgy when you compaire him to the other peoples. he is a real guy talking like that and i adore it.

this imperius thing...i don´t know it makes me feel way to uncomfortable. i think it´s horrible when somebody uses you to do something...i hope JK won´t do this to ron!

If you guys are thinking about getting a new title for this, it needs to be something that really encompasses Ron as a character. I know Weasley is Our King pretty much does that, but if you want to settle on something that quickly, go ahead. If you want to give it more thought, okay by me. tigerlily should send me a PM when you guys are ready for your final decision.

I think we should leave it up to Tigerlily. She's the one who instigated the change, and she's the first one who contacted a moderator. We'll leave the final decision up to her. Well, her and the moderators of course.

Weasley is Our King is a good title, I think. Maybe with time we'll think up a better one though. Who knows!

oh, i´m flattered...this huge responsibility at that young age!
i know bloody hell wouldn´t be the best choice, but i really want to give this thread a new flavour...and i´m totally in love with "weasley is our king" as a new name (i loved the ron´s playing quidditch parts in OotP!!!). but i don´t want to make a decision without feedback of you ron lovers.

Naming the fan club the 'Weasley Is Our King Fan Club'? If so, I think that this is an excellent suggestion and definitely a suitable name! It would, I suppose, be nice to have his trademark slang within the title however if this is not allowed then 'Weasley Is Our King' is a nice choice. It displays the fact that we admire Ron very much and is also a phrase implemented within the novels. Furthermore it implies because of the situation within the novel, courage and perserverance. Also it is quite comedic because of the circumstances with the Slytherins and Ron always brings comedy into the novels!

Well it is likely that we all agree that Hermione and Ron should be more than friends however some people may not agree with this. They may be fans of Ron however not appreciate comments from R/Hr shippers and therefore I don't think that people should make too many comments on the pair. However I am not in charge! Sorry I tend to be a little bossy but if the girls who run the thread would like to speak of ships then that is fine as well .

i think that shipping thing somehow belongs to the story (i´m completely no shipper...let it be known in the whole forum !), but we must agree to disagree...some like hermione others can´t stand her...and i´m not that glad that they are toghether myself, i mean i don´t know if they really fit. but who am i to judge it?! maybe you can tell me why they fit in your opinion...so i can understand...teehee

I honestly don't think he'll die. Mainly because I don't want him to, but it also just doesn't seem to make sense why she would kill him off. I know she's said that two characters die that she didn't plan on killing off, but I still don't think one of those is Ron. I guess we'll have to wait and see though!

I think Malfoy will die in a fight ALONGSIDE Harry, not against him. Also Neville, I think he'll die doing something terribly heroic.

as i already said in an other post, the only way i can see ron die in book 7 is doing something totally heroic, but yet pretty stupid. i picture him throwing his self over hermione to protect her from an unforgivable curse of a death eater...

i just thought about ron fighting agains draco malfoy (do you really believe he will join harry?!)...i mean he always made fun of ron and his family. i want to see ron repay malfoy...we never had something like this, and harry has other things to do (finding horcruxes, batteling LV...busy boy!). i don´t want ron to kill someone, but may be do something that leads to dracos death?! i don´t know, just a thought.

This is a GREAT idea for a club. Can I join also?
I love Ron a lot. He is such an integral part of the trio and his relationship with Harry is the best thing Harry could have wished for. I mean, that fateful day when he sat in the same compartment changed Harry's life.
1- It saved him from becoming friends with Malfoy.
2- It acquainted him with the wizarding world.
3- He found a great wizarding family to adopt. The Weasleys are really kind to Harry and they consider him part of the family.
Without Ron, the series wouldn't be the same.
Ron dying in book seven?
Well if Harry dies, there is a possibility of Ron dying because of the prediction that Trelawny made in book three when they sat down together for Christmas dinner. I know her predictions don't always come true and she is a fraud but some have. For example, the lightning struck tower she kept pulling out of her tarots deck (or some type of deck)
Also, her prediction about Neville breaking the tea cup and Hermione leaving (of course she didn't predict Hermione leaving but she said one of their number would leave them forever.)
I agree that he may do something Heroic and completely stupid.

Yeah, i don't think Ron's going to die ... he's just been a part of everything for too long. I know people may say that so has Hermione, but when you think about it, Ron is Harry's bestest friend.

Eg. GoF- "There was a lot less laughter and a lot more hanging around in the library when Hermione is your best friends" (Or something like that)

So the only way i can see him dieing is if he does something incredibly heroric, that will be his thing for the rest of his (Well, not life, but you know what i mean!)

Because throughout his years at Hogwarts, Ron just been trying to find out what he's good at-what's his thing? Because all the other Weasley brothers do-

Bill-Head boy
Charlie-good at outfoors/care of magical creatures (And dragons of course!)
Percy-Prefect
Fred/George-funny/good at pranking
Ginny-acomplishment in the bat bogey hex/fierce personality/follows things through.

But what does Ron have? Chess.

Others see him as the "Side-kick" but i see him as a acomplished chess player.

Ron needs to find his thing, which i think will be bravery (Which Gryffindor is all about)

So Ron will either die doing something heroric, or will do something heroric that will be remembered forever and all ways.

It will be Hermione's job to finish it all off. She and NEVILLE will have to wipe out the rest of the Deatheaters. Neville will die saving HERMIONE and then Hermione will die fighting Malfoy perhaps.

i was always a believer of the harry-and-LV-will-both-die-theory, because of what hp_book_reader said... JKR doesn´t want to have any spin-off stories of the characters she created. and however sad it may sound...ron could go down the same road. but wouldn´t it be to dark and creepy to kill Neville, Harry, Hermione and Ron... that´s a bit too much for me.
i´d like to see draco die, shortly after he realized that he had chosen the wrong path... morally and thoughtfull, isn´t it ?

Draco is good. When he was about to kill Dumbledore he was hesitant. He has good deep inside him, but he doesn't want to look weak. He covers up his sensitivity with anger and hatred.

I really can't wait for the 7th book!!!!

anyway,i don't think JKRowling will let him die if Harry doesn't defeat Voldemort.on the other hand, Ron could be in danger if Harry wins...i mean,the author may want to sacrifice one of her best characters to allow Harry to survive..it'd be a high price to pay for seeing the good win.

Anyway, Ron's talent?
Well, he's not bad at magic but he's not excellent or anything.
He is a good keeper, but again he's not excellent (that's just because he is always nervous).
He is a good friend (sidekick) but I guess that's not really a talent.
He is brave. For example, he did go into the forest following the spiders even though he was afraid. If that's not bravery, I don't know what is.
He is funny. Does that count?
I don't know what his talents are but I know that his being Harry's friend is really important. Ron being Harry's best friend rescues Harry from the Dursleys on a summerly basis. Ron's family has almost adopted Harry. It's really good for Harry to have something like a family.
I don't know if he has any specific talents like Hermione's knack for advanced magic or Harry's for defensive magic but he is important to Harry's well being. I guess that makes him a side kick but still...he is talented.

Here's another of my stupid theories on the Ron factor.

In the OOTP (which i'm re-reading before the movie) Harry thinks to himself (when Ron gets the Prefects badge)

So taking that into mind (though most of it wasn't that important... I just wanted to get my point over) Ron does have other talants then chess that he's better at than Harry. Maybe Ron could die IF he ever did make it to Voldemort with Harry... But I doubt it.

SO now the question lies IF and even when Jo kills off Ron and Hermione,
1) How will she do it?
2) Will they die together or seperate?
(and most importantly) 3) How will Harry cope? Will he kill Voldemort (and the Death Eaters) out of anger?

I dont think ron will die! it would be to mean of JK to do that. I really don't think hell go, mabye he might like get in st mungos like nevilles parents, but he wont die!

Meggera, i like your quote about rons talents. it´s true that harry isn´t better than ron. of cause he is the troubled one with the dead parents and the one to fight LV. but if you think of school they are equal. i think rons hour is about to come, he was always helping harry and is more like a brother than a friend (i believe it would be terrible for harry to loose ron. i can´t imagine his reaction on that). my ron-death-theory as i have already mentioned: ron will die (totally heroic and (to me) pretty stupid) throwing his body over hermione to protect her from a killing cures (of a death eather). that´s love...
i thought it was truly brave of ron as he went in the dark forest with harry to follow the spiders. i mean ron hates spiders, but he goes with harry and that shows how brave he is.
yes, i don´t want ron to die, but i could never picture ron in the St. Mungos hospital...that would be worse to me than see him die. i thought it was really said as i read about nevilles parents and i don´t want ron to end up like this.

But I don't think he will die because two main characters are dying. One will probably be Voldy. The second might be Harry.
Ron dying would do nothing for the plot line, I don't think. There is no definitive reason for his death. Except the him dying to protect Hermione. That ending would be too bitter sweet for Jo, I think.

I definately agree with you PurpleForge! Ron dying does absolutely nothing for the plot, and will just cause major upset among his devoted fans. I'll honestly be suprised to see him die.

JK said she will kill off two characters that she hadn´t planed to kill...so as far as i see it, there is the possibility of his death. i like many of the remaining characters and i don´t want them to die, too. besides it was always the biggest fear of molly weasley to see one of her kids die... it would be terribly crule of JK to do this to his mum and his fans!

Thank the Lord i have managed to finnaly sneak down to the computer again!!!!! My mom is getting suspisios as to what i do on the computer and i have had to keep of for a wile now. mums picking reletvise up down at the ferrie so i though t finnaly the Ron fan club can viseted again!!!

I love the new thread name!! Also i like the idea of the weasly's being griffendors decendent's, it would explain thier long stay in that house. sorry i should be more clear. what i mean is it would explain why every weasly in the books has been in and is in griffendor. And i don't think that he will die, this would be one of the several book goes in the fire place happenings. But really can't see him being killed. Some people would say it would work harry into a big enough rage to use AK. but he couldn't do even a leser UFC , cruius, after sirius died so i don't think this would be a reason for him to die. I just can't see this happening.
On a side note i whent to this site earlyer today when i was supposedly editying my essay on cultural design, i found i "Christian" site saing severaly rather nastie things about how harry pottter is like a chochlot shake with arsnic in it. for those who have never read Agatha Christie it is a very potent poison, if you read an agatha chisty i would recomend They Came to Bagdad. ok back to the point it also said some rather nastie things about our beloved weasly king! As our beloved king would say "Bloody Hypricrates!" pleas know that all christians are not that stuke up and delusional, i ask you arsnik shake?

Good to see you Quidditch Rocks! I completely understand about your mom being "suspicious". My mom went through that phase not too long ago. She's like, "You spend all your time on the computer talking to people you dont even know, but you wont talk to me!" I think she's given up now, hehe. Mom's just don't understand.

It kind of makes sense that the Weasleys would be Gryffindor's heir. Their family has been in that house for...ever. Although, that may be a little too predictable. I like the theory though!

There are a lot of Christians running around burning these books, as it were. You're right. Not all Christians are like that though. I'm certainly not! Those people just don't have any faith in their own convictions and feel that they need to "rid the world of all evil" and keep the children as innocent as possible . There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Harry Potter books. I mean hell! My minister has all the books, and the movies, and a couple of years ago our Christmas play that we did was based on HP!!! So yeah. Some "Christians" take it a little too far. In the process they make all (normal) Christians look crazy!
Oh well. We know the truth and that's all that matters, hehe.
What nasty things did they say about Ron?! I'm really curious what's so bad about him.

oh, i agree with you, but i´m through talking about rons possible death... i think we have another topic to talk about! we saw that harry wasn´t able to use an unforgivable curse as he tried...so do you think anyone of the trio, especially ron (!), will use an UFC in the last book? which curse would he use? and what kind of situation do you picture him doing it?
i´m just throwing out this questions, cause i couldn´t think of any better...if anyone has something else feel free to ask!

i was just thinking about rons qualities and his bravery as i thought "hey maybe HE is the heir of gryffindor?!" . but it´s not really a theory, just a random thought... JK needs to finish this book...or i´ll go insane from thinking about it!
