Lady Skyfire
Hello, I noticed that here wasn't topic about the other movies played by actors who are now in the HP Movies cast, so I decided to add one.

So please tell me what movies you've seen and did you like them and how about the actors work in that movie? It can be whoever from the HP Movies Cast.

I go first;

Last weekend I saw "PASSIONADA" by Columbia/Tristar Home Entertainment and it was Romantic Comedy, PG-11.

In this movie Jason Isaacs ("Lucius Malfoy") made a very great impression to me by playing in this movie a english gambler, who fell in love with a portuguese widower. I just loved it!

All the actors played good in this movie and I loved every piece of it and the story was wonderful. I laughed and cried and enjoyed it very much.

It was so beautiful movie and I want to recommend it to you all over 11 and who like romantic stuff! I am now so fond of Jason Isaacs!

i saw a movie with Alan Rickman in it once and i saw Peter Pan with Jason Isaacs
I_LOVE_RON
Peter Pan was cool but have you seen thunderpants(with Rupert Grint) it was so groce and RG looks soo funny with a perm......I cracked up when i saw him on screen(sorry RG's Babe)
RG's Babe
OMG! how could i have forgotten baout thunderpants? RG was histarical in that(i never saw this movie lol)! wink.gif
Lady Skyfire
I haven't seen thunderpants or Peter Pan, but I would love to see Peter Pan, where Jason Isaacs was on.
taks
Jason Issacs played Mr. Darling (the father) and Captain Hook in Peter Pan. He's in almost every special feature on the DVD too.

Gary Oldman played Beethoven in Immortal Beloved.

that's all that I can think of right now...
zyra123
Gary Oldman played to delicious hilarious baddie in the Fifth Element!! (the one in my avvie... wink.gif)

I watched the movie again last week and I find myself enjoying every moment with Gary in it instead of Bruce Willis... *tee hee*

*drool* He is soooo good as bad boy... hmmm... tongue.gif laugh.gif
Lady Skyfire
Oh yes! I liked Fifth Element too very much! It was so fantastic! I didn't remember that Gary Oldman was in that! But of course there was this vampiremovie, where Gary Oldman was so gorgeous! Which was it's name?
zyra123
Do you mean Dracula? You can see the info here...
I haven't watched it before though, but those who had told me he was really good in it.

As for the younger actors, Dan was in 'Tailor of Panama' (he was sooo cute in it! laugh.gif That movie was before HP SS/PS so, surely you can imagine how 'young' he looked!) while Tom Felton was in 'Anna and the King'.
Lady Skyfire
Oh yes, "Dracula", you should see it, I loved it very much.

And then "Anna and the King"!

Tom was so pretty baby boy! And no he is a very handsome young man... So the time goes by. I loved that movie, too.

Did Dan also acted in some movie, where was this white dog... what was it? I haven't see that one...

Last night I watched 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' and there's Shirley Henderson in it.... y'know, the girl that played Moaning Mrytle' in CoS. She looked a lot older in that movie and I didn't notice her at first cause she wear this terrible thick hair that hid half of her face away...
MargeauxBlack
One of my favorite movies is Sense and Sensibility. I had no idea that Emma Thompson played Trelawny until I was making a background for my computer of PoA characters. I remember jumping up and excitedly telling my friend(who thinks im a wierdo for loving HP" Look, look, its Elinor, its Elinor." She rolled her eyes and told me i was a nerd. wink.gif

I also loved Alam Rickman in Dogma. Oh, and I dont think this is already up, and I may be getting names mixed, but isnt David Thewis in the island of doctor moreau(sp)?
Louise
Yup, he sure is!! A little scrawny in that movie, to be honest...but there's some very nice moments in it....well, not 'nice' exactly, but if you're a big David fan then you'd probably think so... wink.gif

And don't worry about being called a nerd wink.gif ...My friends all think I'm a total nutbar and I get eyes rolled at me all the time when I'm sitting there in the computer lab at uni and I start getting all screechy whenever there's a bit of HP news released....like the hi-res scans of Dan Radcliffe that are on the main site today.... tongue.gif He ain't half cute for a kid, you know....
zyra123
I went out to watch 'Elektra' yesterday... and I was soo shocked when the movie started...

Jason Isaac was in it!!! LOL! I thought he looked rather cute without that wig... tongue.gif But then... yeah, he was killed in the next 10 minutes... dry.gif ... and I haven't done drooling on him just yet...

Oh, whatever... I can't wait to get Peter Pan's DVD and watch him though... (oh, if only Dana could see this... she'd be squealing in her seat, me liking Jason in the end... rolleyes.gif but she's on hiatus, so I guess I'm pretty safe at the mo... **tee hee** well, as long as he's not Lucius... never like that man... nope, na'ah... not in a million years... no, ma'am... tongue.gif)
sexy-lass
Brendan Gleeson, he was in 28day later

leelakin
I saw the actor of Cedric Diggory (I think his last name is Pattison or something like that) playing in The Ring of the Nibelungs: Kingdom of Twilight.

That was really a coincidence *lol*. At that time, I was working for the German TV channel that produced the movie. XD I did the internet presentation for it, with galleries of the characters and everything... and when I saw pics of Cedric on here a few days ago, I was like "Huh! It's HIM!" XD
ashleigh07
OMG I just watched Kingdom of Heaven today and I just couldn't help but keep smiling like an idiot everytime David Thewlis came on!! tongue.gif Everytime he says something, in my head I go "hey, it's Lupin!!" laugh.gif

That aside, I thought he was brilliant!! smile.gif Shame he had to die... *sob* sad.gif And he doesn't look too shabby as a blonde, I have to say...goes very well with his oh-so-gorgeous eyes wink.gif

Brendan Gleeson was also in it but I didn't quite like his character in there...

Anyways, whoever that hasn't seen Kingdom of Heaven - go see it!! Especially if you're into this kinda movies... smile.gif
*Quidditch Princess*
Hey, you guys know Dan's in December Boys and Rupert's in Driving Lesson. And plus, Clemence Whatsherface that girl who plays Fleur is in a TON of french movies. Alan Rickman is in the new Pride and Prejudice. Uhhh..that's all the updates I know right know!

You guys know any movies with Emma Watson in them?

As far as I'm aware, she's only done the Harry Potter movies.

But since they've started filming HPOOTP, I'd say that anything that she's been in would be out by now- or at least heavily promoted.

So I'd say probably not wink.gif
Capricorn
What?! Is Alan Rickman in Pride and Prejudice!? Ooooh, I have to go see that then! It's still out in the cinema's here...

Anyway, Emma Thompson (Trelawney) was in that angels mini series. Was it Angels in America? Well, it was weird al right, but she was very good.

I've just bought a box set of BBC period novels DVD's with David Copperfield included. Dan's on the cover - it was so cool to see that when I opened the packaging. I've still gotta watch it though. I'll report back here soon as I have!

Michael Gambon was in Open Range, with Kevin Costner. He played the evil town leader thingy! That was just after it was announced that he was going to be Dumbledore, so it was a weird place to see him, playing a real ...ummm... bad guy. huh.gif

I love that movie! But I was crying so hard at some parts sad.gif.

Another movie Emma Thompson is in is Nanny McPhee, which is relatively newer. I haven't seen it, but my younger sister and brother saw it, and from what my mom said, they both really enjoyed it. Also, one of my friends, who's fourteen, went with his younger siblings, enjoyed it too. So that just shows that it's great for all ages. tongue.gif

*Quidditch Princess*
Oops, my bad. I dunno if Alan Rickman is in Pride and Prejudice, the new one at least. I am not sure if he's Darcy in the old one. I dunno, but i have heard a rumor about it...
Capricorn
Hey, harry_potter_fan_4ever! I went to see Pride and Prejudice and he wasn't in it eeek.gif (but don't worry, I would've gone to see it anyway!)

But I doubted that it would be, since I didn't know about it tongue.gif - yeah, I'm a lollipop when it comes to Alan Rickman...

Pity Colin Firth (who is Darcy in the old one) isn't in Harry Potter, otherwise I could have discussed him here, but ok, you can't have everything! Is David Thewlis in any other mainstream-ish movies?
El Barto
Hey, those are some great movies but aside from what you guys have already said...

Jason Isaacs:
The Patriot
Sweet November (only saw it because I was forced to against my will)
Black Hawk Down
Windtalkers
Dragon Heart

David Thewlis (Lupin...right?)
Timeline (it was bad but good at the same time)

Maggie Smith
First Wives Club (once again, forced against my will)
Sister Act (1 and 2)...jeez, I was forced to watch a lot of movies against my will...
Hook

Brendan Gleeson
Lake Placid
Cold Mountain
Troy
Braveheart

Michael Gambon
Path to War

Ralph Fiennes
Prince of Egypt (voice)
Red Dragon

Gary Oldman
Batman Begins
Hannibal
Lost In Space
Air Force One
The Professional (I think its also called Leon)

Robbie Coltrane
Couple James Bond movies (played Valentin)
Ocean's 12

Warwick Davis (Flitwick)
Willow
Ray
Gulliver's Travels
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (he was an Ewok! check it out on imdb.com!)

Pedja Bjelac (Karkaroff)
saw him in EuroTrip

Sorry for the list being long, though it would have been longer by I didn't want to repeat anything wink.gif My favorite movie out of them all is Robin Hood with Alan Rickman, though all great movies.
Capricorn
You didn't list Alan Rickman's movies (some have been mentioned, but not listed) so, yaaaay, I'll do the honours!

These are ones that haven't been mentioned:

January Man, Rasputin, Michael Collins, Judas Kiss, Blow Dry, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Search for John Gissing, Snow Cake, Dark Harbor, Close My Eyes, Closet Land, Something the Lord Made and 'Help! I'm a Fish' (voice). I really cracked myself when I first read that name biggrin.gif

Oh and I loved Gary Oldman in Batman Begins! I think a DVD day is overdue - I'll make the theme "HP Actors" and dedicate it to VTM. sleep.gif
El Barto
Thats because you guys already listed the ones I've seen sad.gif If you all want I can post all the movies each actor has been in, but I thought it was the ones we've seen.

Haha, yea I was crsdba. I thought that name ran its course since everyone was confusing my gender and stuff...and everyone knows me as Chris anyway...I just thought it was a time for change. laugh.gif
Capricorn
No, it's just that I'll jump at any chance to talk about Alan's movies laugh.gif Yeah, I haven't seen them all - is that what we're supposed to discuss? Whoops. tongue.gif

Ok then, I loooved Robin Hood too! Pity that most of Alan's performance was apparently cut because he outplayed Kevin Costner... If he was that good even after they cut his stuff, imagine what he had to have been like before!

Thanks for the list anyway, I'd like to see a few of the movies - though to tell the truth, someone would have to force me to see some of them too... biggrin.gif
El Barto
Alright, I'll give a little bit about what type of characters they are in those movies...or most of them.

QUOTE
Jason Isaacs:
The Patriot
Sweet November (only saw it because I was forced to against my will)
Black Hawk Down
Windtalkers
Dragon Heart

In the Patriot he plays an evil British officer in the American Revolution...I say that because he kills innocent people in it, even orders his subordinates to burn a Church full of people. Sweet November hes the opposite, a calm, peaceful, kind, man who sometimes dresses in drag. Black Hawk Down he's a soldier who joined up with his troops in Somalia, he's also a general or something in Windtalkers. And I forgot what he was in Dragonheart.

David Thewlis in Timeline played an evil scientist...meaning he sent a group of people back in time to find someone else who went back in time, then after the machine was destroyed by accident he didn't want to even try to fix it. As a result, time reversed and the group of people returned just before being killed and he was placed in thier place in the past and he was killed...kind of complicated...

Maggie Smith was an old, grown up Wendy in Hook (Peter Pan basically), she was also one those women in First Wives Club who knows all the rich people...and stuff happens...I dunno, and in Sister Act she's of course the head nun, if there is one...

Gleeson is a sheriff in Lake Placid...but the story is stolen by the love relationship of Bill Pullman and Fonda. He's a musician in Cold Mountain who is almost killed when suspected of treason by the Confederate Army...but thats not what the story is about..., in Troy he was the husband of Helen who seeks revenge but is killed by Hector.

Gambon is the president of the United States in Path to War

Gary Oldman
Batman Begins: the commissioner
Hannibal: not sure, forgot...
Lost In Space: Dr. Smith
Air Force One: a terrorist taking over the president's plane
The Professional: a police sargent trying to kill a professional killer

Without boring any of you anymore, Warwick Davis was Willow in Willow, I thought that was a great movie...like Lord of the Rings downgraded; but great nonetheless. Karkaroff's character in Euro Trip was the guy talking about the Pope in the crowd of people..."thats a crazy Pope..."...sorry for going crazy on this biggrin.gif
HPfan#1
Well I loved Driving Lessons with Rupert Grint and Julie Walters!!! It was soooo funny laugh.gif biggrin.gif !!! Especially when Eve eat the key so that Ben couldn't go home laugh.gif and at the end when Ben says to Sarah, " Just f*** off Sarah!" then she says, "WHAT!!" and he says "I said f*** off Sarah!" oh it was hilarious laugh.gif laugh.gif !!!

As anyone seen Leon? There's Gary Oldman playing the bad guy and he's really great, also a bit scary! I loved it.
I would like to see December Boys but I think it's never been played here (and here stands for Italy), and I can't even find it at Blockbuster! In here they played Driving Lessons but I found out about it too late so I coudn't see it either!
And the first time I saw Robin Hood after seing the HP movies I was shocked when seing the name of Alan Rickman and I had to go and check on imdb to understand what character was he playing because I didn't recognised him!
aguamenti
I know a few,

Dan Radcliffe-
David Copperfeild
(HP 1-5)
December Boys
The Tailor of Panama

Rupert Grint-
(HP 1-5)
Driving Lessons

Alan Rickman-
Love Actually
Sense and Sensebility
Truly Madly Deeply

Helena Bonham Carter-
She is in a lot so I'm not even going to list them all

Emma Thompson-
Stranger Than Fiction
Nanny McPhee
Love Actually (With Alan Rickman)
Sense and Sensebility (With Alan Rickman)

Ralph Fiennes is in a lot too
and so is Gary Oldman
HPnerd_0512
Ralph Fiennes is in The English Patient and The Constant Gardener - both brilliant films.

We seem to be forgetting Gary Oldman's sinister bad dude in The Fifth Element.
Drinotonks
Ok I'm going to start a new topic for December Boys, there was a thread called actors outside of HP but I looked at it and apart from listing which movies people like involving HP actors it didn't seem to elaborate much so please re-direct me if I've put this in the wrong area or if it's too similar to another - I did a search but it didn't show anything similar that I could find.

Ok so I saw the film last night, yes because Daniel Radcliffe was in it and I also attended the Meblourne premiere of it - the red carpet section - yes I was stuck in all of that mayhem. So I loved it, a very believable film, I was a little concerned after I read a horrible review of it, but my dad always says if it gets a bad review it will most likely be a film that I will enjoy. I don't want to elaborate on any plot spoilers incase people who have not seen it read this but if you have seen it let me know what you think and I'll begin my thoughts.

I loved it, I will buy it when it comes outm I thought it was very sad, very touching in some areas and I don't cry in movies, they don't get to me much but htis one hurt my heart, it was pounding so hard to try and remain from crying as my sister on my left and the two girls to my right were wiping their eyes and trying to talk themselves down. I think Dan did a great job, although you really can tell he was younger when he did it - as it was filmed two years ago just after GOF - but he was very convincing and I didn't see him as HP at all. I went and purchased the book today - I didn't know it was a book but already from the first page it's a little different but I love book to film movies!

I'll leave it at that I hope someone else liked it.

Drino
After the Burial
I have a list of movies that Alan Rickman plays in. I really had no idea he was that great of an actor until I actually paid attention to the body of great movies he has made.

Die Hard (Hans Gruber)
Robin Hood (Sheriff of Nottingham)
Dogma (Metatron)
Quiggly Down Under (the ranch owner)
Sense and Sensibility (Colonel Brandon)

I know other people listed these, and more, but I wanted to point out that Rickman in particular was great. He plays the characters so well that I never realize it is him. That is the mark of a great actor. You see the character, not the player.

etphonehome
Gary *swoon* Oldman...okay okay, I'm too old for all that, but he has made some fantabulous movies.

The Fifth Element
Airforce One
Sid and Nancy
Bram Stokers Dracula (phwoar, when he was in that long auburn curly wig)
The Scarlet Letter...I bawled like a baby at that one, really moving.
Batman Begins

These are just a few, he really is versatile, he plays a great baddie and an amazing lover and the caring godfather with such conviction, no wonder he's one of my favourite actors of all time.

Looking forward to the next Batman installment 'The Dark Knight'
crazy4u
I've seen Gary Oldman in 'The 5th element', Emma Thompson in 'Nanny McPhee', 'Sense and sensibility' and 'Love Actually' and Alan Rickman in 'Sense+Sensibility' and 'Love Actually'.My favourite one of these is 'Love Actually'. And I thought it was very nice that Alan and Emma were a couple. So much different from the roles in Harry Potter. It's a worth-watching movie.
Medea
Well, I saw movies played by Imelda Staunton, Maggie Smith, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Gemma Jones, Michael Gambon, Richard Harris, Timothy Spall, Shirley Henderson and so on. All I can say is that all of them are great actors and actresses, and I do hope that Daniel, Rupert and Emma learned a lot from them, because they are the best! Names of movies? Most of them were translated into Portuguese and thus if I name them in Portuguese most people won't understand. But I can remember some titles in English: The taming of the shrew, Sense and sensibility, The last samurai, The diary of bridget jones, Vera Drake, The scarlet letter etc. biggrin.gif
becky12
Black Hawk Down- my favourite Jason Isaacs film (mainly because Orlando Bloom, William Fichtner and Carmine Giovinazzo were in it as well tongue.gif)

Sleepy Hollow- one of my favourite films (again mainly because of Depp's performance) but both Michael Gambon and Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) were in it as well

Stardust- another one for Mark Williams, he wasn't in it much but he was still absolutely brilliant (I'd recommend the film anyway)
parisg
Robert Pattison is going to be Edward Cullen in Twilight: The Movie

I am so excited about that he is perfect to play Edward although he isn't quite hott enough but then again no human is as hott as Edward but then again Edwrd isn't human he is a vampire

I am in love with edward Cullen
ILoveHarryPotter07
Parisg I was just going to say that!
My friend and I were discussing if we thought he could pull it off, I think he can. He just needs an american accent. Also I read on his IMDB that he can play piano, a definate plus.
(for those of us who know twlight Edward plays piano and makes up a melody for bella!)

As for movie I have seen, I think that Alan Rickman in Love Actually was cool, it was soo weird to watch him play that role, especially because I know him as Snape lol.
Another is Ledgend of Sleepy Hollow, Imelda Staunton, Michael Gambdon and Richard Griffths play in that. That was a really great movie.
After the Burial
I really liked the movie I am Legend. Emma Thompson makes something of a cameo appearance in it, but she sets the stage for everything else.

Scarlett Letter was amazing. Fifth Element was, in my eyes, complete garbage, though not because of Gary.

There is absolutely no forgetting Alan Rickman playing in Sweeney Todd. Yet again, he played the role of the villan (though pretty much everyone did when it boils down to it), but he certainly played it well. Plus, he sang!

I second the others who mentioned Robert Pattison as playing Edward Cullen in the upcoming Twilight movie, I am ecstatic about that.
