Full Version: The New Headmaster

Sorry if this topic has already been created, I looked through the forum and I didn't see one but I may have missed it. shutup.gif I noticed a lot of posts asking this same question, so I created a topic about it.

Who do you think became the new Hogwarts Headmaster? After Snape left, we know that Kingsley became the Minister, and Neville went to work at Hogwarts, but we still don't know who became the new Headmaster.

Personally, I think it was Hagrid. I only think this because I think he deserved it. He was a main character throughout the series, and he survived many major battles, even when he was hit with the killing curse, his giant-blood protected him. It also could have been McGonagall. There aren't many people it could have been, being that most people went to work at the Ministry.

What (or Who) do you think?

This is a very interesting question....and I can't think of an answer..!xD But Hagrid is a great idea!!

Mod Edit: Oner liners and short posts like yours are not permitted on the forums. Please elaborate in future. Thanks.

It is really an interesting question, Felix2090.

As for you suggesting Hagrid, it is definitely a bold choice, but honestly, I cannot imagine him being a Headmaster. You are perfectly right that he deserves to be rewarded for everything he has done for the Order and for his never ending loyalty. But I think even he himself would rather be outside with some dangerous creatures (dragons most probably) than inside fulfilling his Headmaster's duties. I would say, making him a Headmaster wouldn't be the nicest way of reward for Hagrid.

I think there are many qualities a Hogwarts Headmaster must have. S/he must be a great wizard in the first place. We have heard many times that Hogwarts is one of the best protected places, maybe even safer than Gringotts. I have always understood that the safety came along with Dumbledore's impressive magical skills.

And second, the Headmaster must be a great person, in a sense of being honest, generous and possessing positive qualities, so that s/he can be a role model for the students. Also I think the person must care for the students and for their well-being.

Actually, no one of Dumbledore's magical qualities comes into my mind at the moment, but I think that if Professor McGonagall could have been the deputy for the whole time, she could make a nice Headmistress. After all, Dumbledore did not make her his deputy for nothing. And if she was a satisfactory choice for Dumbledore, she could be so even for us. In addition, it would also give a nice shift to the gender roles, but that's a different discussion. wink.gif

Well, my first thought is professor McGonnigal of course, I mean who else, she did become headmistress when dumbledore died, so I think that it only seems fit that she should take it back!!!
Gwenog
okay I have to say
congtrats...somebody posted the question that was torturing me eversince I read the epilogue..duh..I was sooo shocked that this question didnt even interest anyone.. sleep.gif
so for the Hagrid thing...I already said somewhere that I compeltely agree with you...I like your idea...especially becuase I thought (until I read the whole book) that Lupin would become the headmaste after wards and in the end...but he died as you all know and therefore cant be a headmaster although he sooo much deserved it
I dont know if it wll be McGonagall though..as she is already very old...19 years later...she may be it initally but then..after a few years you would have to replace her too...
who else could it be...?..
Neville in the end would be awesome too.. happy.gif

Well i'm pretty sure i read somewhere on Wikipedia that it was Minerva MCGongall who takes over as headmistrees. In the years to come. I could be wrong. But that's what i read i think.
Even if i hadn't read that. I think Minerva would be a pratical choice she has taken a backseat and been deptuy all thesse years. I it he was time she was aloud to give students her safe feeling and ways of headmistress. And she obviously knows levels of strictness to students.
Gwenog
yes thats true but shortly after that she is going into retirement and I want to know seriously who is it afterwards as I think that she doesnt wait 19 years afterwards..I am pertty sure she is old enough to go eariler into retirement...so who is it afterwards......thats not really answered

I agree that McGonagall is the one I would of thought to be the next Headmistress, but it's true, now that I think about it, she would be retiring soon, wouldn't she? I don't think she would of stayed 19 years after that... Maybe it was some other teacher? Or maybe some random person. Say, I just had this weird thought... What if Aberforth took over? I know it's a little crazy, but... I don't know. Would he of been right for the job? We know it's not Neville, because he was the Herbology teacher...
Miss_Mimz
Well I agree with pretty much everyone on here! I feel sure that Professor McGonagall would be the natural predecessor for Head Mistress. She's more than proven her worth and her capabilities so she's definitely qualified and would do an amazing job!

However I do agree with Gwenog, that McGonagall would seemingly retire after a short time and I do wonder who would then replace her? Anyone have any ideas?

Great topic. I love trying to predict what comes next in the Harry Potter universe. I believe that McGonagall would be headmistress. Everyone is saying that she would retire, but think about how old Dumbledore was when he died. He must of been well over 100 and he was still fighting fit. Well pretty much of the time anyway.
But after McGonagall hmmmm.... maybe Flitwick?? or maybe Professor Sprout took the job when Neville took hers!!
Blue-haired Baby
Majority seems to rule about MacGonagall, at least initially. I'm afraid the wizarding world may still be too predjudice for half-giants and werewolves to hold powerful positions. But Hagrid never became a qualified wizard having been expelled and, sob, Lupin "snuffed it."
K.Lupin_werewolf
i would have love it if Lupin became headmaster but no. alas! he's gone.

my first choice is what nearly everyone is going with... MacGonagall.
ut after her.. i can see Neville laugh.gif bless him. but otherwise Hogwarts would enter a new generation so it might not bwe anyone we know but imagine it was Albus Severus Potter... now how ironic would that be?
tonks-13
I think it might have been Minerva McGonagall*
I hope so lol.
I cant think of anyone else who could have taken the job. ph34r.gif

I'm going to go with McGonagall as she was deputy head mistress and I can't imagine some random person taking over Hogwarts.

However, I think it is highly likely that the job was offered to Harry who declined.

I can just see it now, the saviour of the wizarding world being offered headmaster post, but he would have declined for reasons like he is too young and he wanted to get back with Ginny ectra

I am also going to have to say McGonagall because she has done so much for the school and deserves it. She was also the deputy headmistress and so naturally she would be the first choice.
However, as many have said, she is also getting old and it remains to be seen how much longer she would be teaching.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that McGonagall took over for the time being, so during the final battle she was the official headmistress, but after things got settled down, she did retire after not too long. What I believe I read happened was that they hired someone young and new to take over running the school. I don't think we ever got a name, other than those details. What do you guys think?
emma200
i would like to think that mcgonnagal or flitwick became headmistress or headmaster, but i couldn't find a hint, so it's just guessing(this is a question that should have been solved)
Lord Skinner
I agree that it should be McGonagall. She was deputy headmistrss and she does appear to be the logical choice. She has always put the students first. And she can be very firm on her position.
mugglelovrspew
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that Professor McGonagall did take Severus's duty as headmistress. She had retired by the time the next generation came, though. But it does seem right. I'm sure she would of taken Dumbeldore's place if Snape hadn't been appointed, anyway...
