Miss_Mimz
Hey guys! grouphug.gif

I've gotten permission to start a Harry Potter fanclub! This club will be for people who absolutely love Harry Potter, both the character & Daniel Radcliffe the actor who portrays him. magic.gif

Now I know that Harry does get discussed regularly on VTM but I thought others like me would enjoy a Harry Potter Fan Club. A place to discuss Harry Potter himself... So for all the huge Harry Potter fans who want to join and get this Club going; here's a few rules

1. If you want to join put something in your signature about HP-CO ( Harry Potter-Chosen One ) use this link
2.Please read at least 5 posts before you and reply on a question that is most relevant and recent. Or ask your own question, but make it good tongue.gif

3.
Be Nice, Respectful and Stay on Topic! Don't post to ask if you can join just reply to a thread or ask a new question.

Enjoy...and Show Your Support Please

- Ok so to start things off, a shiny new question:

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?

etphonehome
What no-one interested enough in Harry Potter or Daniel Radcliffe to join the fan club?
Come on guys, you can squee in here, how many other places are you going to get away with saying "Ohh Dan is sooo Hoot, or awww Harry wa so cute in PS/SS"

You know you want to!! biggrin.gif

Right well I'll answer Mimz questions.....

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

In a way, I think his best trait is also his worst. Dispite be the 'chosen one' he is still quite happy to have his friend help him out. I like the fact that he's not academically clever and this means he has to pull in the strengths of his friends, Hermiones books and cleverness, Rons strategic mind (wizard chess).

Which brings me onto his biggest flaw

His saving people thing.I don't have a problem with him doing the saving, geesh, if I needed saving and he was around yippee! No, he does have this habit of thinking he's the only one to do the job that needs doing, but never actually says, to Ron and Hermione, 'No, I mean it this time, go away, I'm the only one with the power to do this, I don't need what you can find out of a book etc'! Which brings me full circle back to the first question again blink.gif

Mimz, I hope to find lot's more people have joined Hp co by the end of the day.

Potions Mistress
What an excellent idea, Miss_Mimz! Thank you for establishing the FanClub. Honestly, I am astounded that no one has come up with such a topic yet, considering how much obsessed with Harry we all seem to be. I would have posted here earlier, honestly, but I found this great thread only at 2 am at which time I was totally unable to put two meaningful sentences together.

But now, legs first into the discussion.

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

I very much agree with what Miss_Mimz says about Harry's heart and ability to love. It really is surprising that though coming from the environment so much deprived of love, he is capable to love so hard. On the other hand, I am rather convinced that he is trying to make up for the lost and loveless years by the intensity of his feelings.

For me, Harry’s best personality trait is that I perceive him as an embodiment of just thinking. I always like that he doesn’t have the slightest problems finding which side is the good one, and despite all the difficulties he joins it and is ready to fight for the good in the world. I suppose, his brave Gryffindor heart must answer for this.

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?

I very much agree with what both of you say; I am particularly annoyed when he always thinks he is the Chosen One (what a fitting name for the topic by the way, Mimz). I think it would be nice if Harry once in a while admitted that he really needs the people around him and what’s more, let them do some of the work or, even better, ask them to do it and to help him out. He only takes from his friends what they offer but never bothers much to ask for it, thus in a way does not acknowledge his friends’ help accordingly. It this what you are saying, Elaine?

And then there is another thing. I know it is caused by the fact that our beloved Harry is in the difficult process of maturing, but still. I hate his outbursts of anger. On the other hand, this proves to me that he is only a human with good as well as bad traits. But yet, I wouldn't like to cross him when he is angry as he rather scares me at such moments. In my opinion, from time to time Harry really could do with a little bit of self-control. But there are others who have told him so not once,
QUOTE
“Master yourself!” spat Snape. “Control your anger, discipline your mind!” (OotF 474, UK ed.)

Well, in the end it seems that there are more things about Harry I don't like than I do. But it is not true. Only that the two negative traits have been bothering me for such a long time now and my co-fans have never been in a mood to discuss Harry's negative side with me. So I'm happy I could express my opinion now.

I guess I will still wait for more people to answer the introductory questions before I will produce any of my own. And I'm really eager to read what other people have to say. So, as Elaine says, come one guys. smile.gif

Miss_Mimz
Thanks to both of you...keep the replies coming and add questions that might get people more interested...lol unsure.gif

I'll be checking in and if anything I'll think up new questions too:)
Seriouslysirius
Oh this is a strange coinedence Miss_Mimz. I had the idea of a HP club as well! But you got here first. laugh.gif I'd love to join the thread!!

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

We don't spoilers now. I think. Anyway i agree with anyone said his amazing courage. And his ability to keep a straight head in a crisis. I mean i know i would lose my head in a crisis like he faced. He also is able to expect wild theorys that normal turn out to be right. He understands Voldemorts power and what he is cabable of. One of the best things you need in times like Harrys time. Is to " Know your enemy." Of course having a link to Voldemorts mind helps. laugh.gif But he was also very good at understadning them. When someone else would have just cowered up scared that they'd seen He who must not be named.
So his best quality. ( In my opinon.) Is his bravery in the face of danger.
and his second ( coming close to 1st.) Is his understanding towards Voldemorts actions..

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?

His worst quality?? Hmm.... Prehpas his hot headedness. Towards his friends in OOTP. His friends where only trying to help. Yet he pushed them away convinced he would have to take this mission up on his own. Sort of like Hiro in the programme called "Heros."He just wouldn't understand he doesn't have to face things alone. For alond you are vunerable together you are invincible. Is the way i see it.

Oh i think i better state i'm a boy so let it be know i wont be ohing and ahing over Daniel Radcliffe. laugh.gif

But i'm happy to discuss lot's of his acting abilites.

Finally happy that there is a thead like this. biggrin.gif
Miss_Mimz
Ok...so I'm going to reply to my question

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?

1. I see Harry's best quality as twofold I guess happy.gif first I think that his heart is definitely his best quality. I laugh thinking that his young self wouldn't like me saying that because when Dumbledore did he always got mad. rolleyes.gif Anyways...for someone who pretty much grew up in a house where there was NO love, his ability to love his friends and the family he chooses for himself ( I mean here like Sirius, Lupin and the Weasleys ) is rather remarkable. And it is I think the thing that made me fall in love with the character of Harry Potter. wub.gif

- and I have to add that I think Harry's courage also deserves mention here. Wow...I mean for a young boy when all this started he really grew into his braveness and his sense of duty. Its exceptional and really it amazes me.
» Click to Show Spoiler - Click Again to Hide... «
...It just makes me love him more...*sighs*

2. So his biggest flaw is a flaw that I'll admit to myself...lol the fact that he isolates himself from his friends when things get really bad for him, and then he takes it out on his friends. I understand why he does it but it has a terrible toll on him AND on the people he loves the most. I think he kinda overcomes this at the end of the books but still, I'd say thats what aggravated me more about my beloved Harry.

...its funny how Potions Mistress & SeriouslySirius brought up Harry's mind as his strong point ( in one form or another. I totally agree with you Potions Mistress that he just knows who is on the bad side or the right side. Maybe being exposed to so much love only to loose it by so much evil made him more sensitive to sense evil in people.

And I also agree with Seriouslysirius that a very strong quality of Harry's ( that ties in to the topic above) is his innate ability to understand Voldemort

As for his flaws, I, contrary to etphonehome dont see Harry's ''saving people thing'' as a bad thing. I think that sometimes he does go about it the wrong way. I do wish he'd accept help more willingly though.

I'll be coming back with some new questions as soon as I think of good ones! You're all invited to do the same! smile.gif

Nice Fan Club Miss_Mimz!

I'd like to answer the questions myself (and also become a member! As soon as I finish this, I'll add the link to my signature!)

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?

Like most people before me, I think his huge ability to love is a remarkable personality trait. Marvelous actually. One would think that it could be easier for him to grow into a new Voldemort, but instead he is so loving that he would even die for others. That's something I admire.
Also, I do admire his loyalty towards his friends. He understands his friends' feelings and support them, and helps them out and cares for them. That's something big of him to do.

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?

In this matter, I have one trait that I dislike the most, and it's something that hasn't been mentioned before. It completely annoys me the fact that he doubts so much of everything in his surroundings. When something comes up, he questions his friends attittudes, their behaviors and their feelings towards him, just because of the slightest argument. I don't like that at all. Like with what happened to Dumbledore: just because someone (specially Rita Skeeter, come on! He did know she made stuff up! Why did he doubt?) said otherwise, does it mean that the person was a total fraud? I don't like that trait of him, but I guess, just like Potions Mistress said, it only shows that Harry isn't perfect and only human.

About Dan...

I'll follow etphonehome's suggestion here... Hahaha! Well, I won't deny that he's hot and he was a cutie on PS/SS... but I must say he's grown as an actor and as a person. I've seen some interviews (given the fact that I live on the other side of the world) and what I most like about him is the fact that he's so down to earth. That's one nice thing as a personality trait. And once again, yes, he's hot... Hahaha!
Seriouslysirius
Miss_Mimz i don't think we have to use spoiler tags anymore.

The saving people thing isn't to bad i suppose. It's good he thinks of others beofre himself. Though sometimes it lands him itno trouble. If he hadn't rushed to the ministry sirius wouldn't be dead. That wasn't his fault but it could have been avoided. It was only a mistake. But we know he does start to overcome that.
Miss_Mimz
Oh wow Kaitlyn your right that your answer for Harry's Biggest flaw hasnt been discussed yet and I very much like your answer! He does doubt much of his surroundings as though he feels he might loose the loyalty of his friends at any minute. However I think much of that comes from having lost loved ones early on. He fears loosing love again. And I agree that that makes him overly sensitive to any minor behavior or action they have sometimes. lol...and it did frustrate me at times while reading the HP books so thank you for bringing it up! smile.gif

Daniel

And since I myself hadnt yet taken etphonehome's advice here goes... thumbsup.gif

Dan was totally cute in PS and HAS really matured into a really talented actor, he's really coming into his own I think and since CS got more and more comfortable with ''being'' Harry Potter. That being said he's absolutely gorgeous and I can not wait for OOTP to be out on dvd so I can watch him again wub.gif I absolutely adore him!

OK that's enough from me...I'll induce a premature heart attack if I carry on! laugh.gif

hahahahahahahaha omg hug.gif I Love It...Dont feel bad etphonehome because there's quite an age difference between myself and Dan too...but WOW. The promo shots for Equus come to mind and that photo shoot he did for Details Magazine where the caption says: ''Just Call Him Dirty Harry'' wub.gif

Just a few little titbits about Dan. It has been confirmed that Equus will definitelt go to Broadway in 2008.

There is an interview on the ITV website with Dan about his role in My Boy Jack. Also, he recorded the TV show Parkinson last night. It will be aired tomorrow (Saturday) night.

More information can be found through Dans site here.
Miss_Mimz
Thank you for posting that information on Dan etphonehome and the link!

I thought it was funny how he commented that Michael Gambon has been "camping it up" on the set of HBP. Maybe thats just me loving everything about Dan again blush.gif

Anyways I think its time to post a shiny new question! biggrin.gif

In what moments in film do you feel Daniel Radcliffe shines the most as Harry Potter
. By this I mean 2 things:
1. When do you feel that Daniel Radcliffe really ''became'' Harry Potter? ( do you think he was the second he came on the screen in PS or did you notice a moment later on?)
2. Is there a particular moment in any of the films where you though ''wow thats totally Harry Potter''?

I know Dan isnt exactly Harry Potter from the books but I'd like to see how you all view Dan as Harry
Pawprint
Hello there! It's been a while since I first posted but I'm here now, and ready to start discussion!

I'll begin with Miss_Mimz's two last questions, which I feel are very much apropriate:

In what moments in film do you feel Daniel Radcliffe shines the most as Harry Potter. By this I mean 2 things:
1. When do you feel that Daniel Radcliffe really ''became'' Harry Potter? ( do you think he was the second he came on the screen in PS or did you notice a moment later on?)

Even though Dan looked absolutely adorable in PS/SS, he wasn't very much the Harry Potter I thought of in my imagination. First there was the battle of "he'll ruin the vission of the character I've got in my head" and the "mmm, he looks a little bit like Harry, he might pull it off" things. He seemed a little shy, and nervous, but he made it well. He was little and I always thought, stubbornly, "what's the thing with the eyes, haven't they got computers???" Still, I grew into loving him. Even though this happened to me with ALL of the characters (not the professors, though, that's a little bit strange...), I was somewhat uncomfortable with my favorite books being turned into movies, so I think that was part of the whole issue.
I have to say I totally agree with Miss_Mimz: He grew into the character, and became Harry Potter in CoS. Not only I became fond of him, but he looked more confident playing the part, at least for me.

2. Is there a particular moment in any of the films where you though ''wow thats totally Harry Potter''?

I can't say a particular moment, but I'll say a particular film. PoA was when I could actually identify Dan as Harry. I think it was a great movie, and he did look like Harry for me there. From then on, to me Dan stopped being an actor playing a part in a HP movie and HP in the movie. He looked more grown up, and since then, I started imagining him as the character more easily. In GoF Dan did some good Harry-like moments and well, OotP was all about Harry. I could actually feel the anxiety, which I think was good. He has become more and more like the character on the films, and I don't doubt that HBP will be another great Harry movie. For me, the most Harry moments have been in OotP but only because as time passes by, he's become more aquainted with the character, but it all started on PoA.

To continue with the discussion on Dan...

I totally agree with etphonehome and Miss_Mimz here... The Equus shots were incredible, and I'm glad he's going to broadway... I'd love to see the play, but there's no plan in my future yet to go back to NY (even in 2008)... too bad... I saw them and actually thought, "God, why isn't he a few years older? Why?" That way I could daydream about him and not the fictional Harry that, like I wrote in another thread (one that said something like "how old do you imagine Harry?"), I imagine as a 2007 Harry (27 years old), which is a nice age for me (I'm 23)... (Yes, I know, I have a little bit of a crush on black-haired, green-eyed or blue-eyed for this purpose guys...)
Too bad, but he's gorgeous! One can't deny it!
etphonehome
Just a quickie, My Boy Jack is to be shown on ITV (UK) at 9pm next Sunday 11th November!
Daniel plays such a strong role in this and I think it look truly moving. I can't wait to see it.
Miss_Mimz
Ok, I'm going to answer my question too biggrin.gif

Like you Kaitlyn I thought Dan was absolutely adorable in PS but you could tell he was young and very new to being Harry Potter. However as PS moved along he kinda grew on me more and more wub.gif But I have to say that for me too Dan was really Harry Potter in COS. There was no question he had improved and grown as an actor

2. Is there a particular moment in any of the films where you though ''wow thats totally Harry Potter''?

Here though I have to say, right when POA started and he's under the bed sheets: ''lumos'' I thought OMG, this [i]IS Harry Potter ...and that whole film I thought Dan was amazing and has been getting more amazing since! I cant wait to buy OOTP and watch it over and over heart.gif

And Finally Dan in Equus coming to the States. Wow I wish I wasn't a student right now cause I'd book a trip to NYC...I'm soooo sad that Dan is going to be so close and that I'll miss that. I'd love to see him live on stage, must be quite the experience!

He was Harry from day one film one for me. I loved it when he first climbed on that broom (i know it was CGi) but he looked exactly how I had imagined him to look. When he said 'I love magic' in GoF was a great moment, it sort of summed up the whole feeling that to him it was still something wonderful and he had so much still to discover. That was a feeling that I got from the books and Dan really connected with it. So to sum up, he was Harry from PS and the real defining moment came when he got on the broomstick caught the rememberall and looked as though he belonged!

Just a little fun one : Australia's got it right wink.gif

Published in the Herald Sun, Australia's Biggest Selling Paper, Daniel Radcliffe was voted top movie star, more than doubling the votes of the likes of Johnny Depp!

That sort of indicates to me that the Daniel has gone from being a boy playing a boy wizard to being a young man playing a a number of serious roles and Harry Potter is just part of his portfolio.

He wouldn't have headed that poll 6 years ago and doubt that he would have thought back then that anyone would consider him a heart throb. I bet he chuckles at that one!

Good to hear, he deserves it as well- he's not only put in some brilliant performances as Harry Potter but has shown his all round talent with Equus and December Boys. Agree with etphonehome that he wouldn't have got this a few years back, but I don't think even now he thinks that people would consider him a heart throb wink.gif

In COS he certainly was more confident because he'd had some experience then and he played Harry very well but my favourite performance from him had to be in POA, I thought he really did shine and got into the character so well, in particular the part after he found out about Sirius being his parents' friend (and when he thought Sirius had betrayed them) and he really showed his emotion there, I thought that's exactly how I imagined Harry reacting
Miss_Mimz
I agree completly etphonehome and becky12 that Dan wouldnt have received such an accolade 5 years ago. smartass.gif

I personally think he's a really admirable young actor who's not trying to ''cash in'' on being Harry Potter, but rather is trying to better himself as an actor by challenging himself with roles like December Boys & My Boy Jack and taking risks like Equus. Makes me love Dan even more. wub.gif

Congrats to Dan for such an honor!

...we'll I wasnt sure about posting this...seeing as it could simply be a rumour. But it is news so I'll post and let Dan fans decide unsure.gif

I think that regardless of if its true or not, its more proof on how Daniel Radcliffe's celebrity is evolving happy.gif

Mmmm.... Dan's dating older girls wub.gif ... That is some wonderful news for us oldies out there! Hahaha!

Well, if he is getting along with this girl, good for him! The one thing that I find kind of strange is that he said somewhere that he would never date an actress because they are mental, just as actors, and having two busy schedules wouldn't be helpul in maintaining a couple... That's the only thing I find weird, but anyway, if he found a way around it, good for him! Everyone deserves a little love in their lives!

Just like me and Josh Hartnett sleep.gif ... Well, he still has to notice me first... Too bad... Hahaha! But way to go Dan!

For anyone who missed the review posted on the home page of VTM...Dan is getting Excellent reviews for his role in My Boy Jack For the full review click here Again I have to say how exciting it is to see Dan excel in other performances too. Oh and Kailtyn I love your perspective, us older girls still have hope biggrin.gif

wow another great topic.. well peoples, id have to say that he started to really "be" harry potter in PoA, in that movie i saw alot of new relations he had brought to the character..by relations i mean the harry potterness**

Hello! I shall declare myself as a newbie here, joy joy joy, and in the process hopefully rejuvenate this thread? Maybe?

Anyway, Harry is one of my absolute favourite characters in the series and so I saw it as fitting that I joined the fan-club. I really admire him for having such a huge heart, despite his terrible circumstances really. Overall I think he's a terrific friend, though he does have the disgusting tendency to take his problems out on those he loves when it's not their fault...

As for Dan? Personally - much to the disgust of others here, I'm sure - he doesn't do a lot for me. I've only seen him in Harry Potter, and I don't think that he does the character justice, to be honest. But then overall, the movies - well - I'm not a fan of them. But hey! One less person vying for Dan's attention, right? wink.gif

Anyway, I shall be off to add the link to my siggy!
Miss_Mimz
Wow...well since I was most predominant on this thread I went on Hiatus ph34r.gif ...lol...but I'm back

Thanks to all who replied to this thread...I really love Dan and HP and I know a lot of people do...not sure why the thread isn't picking up...maybe cause we get to discuss Dan and HP in any Veritaserum thread seeing as it IS all about him wub.gif ...lol

Anyways while watching and re-watching HP OOTP since Xmas...I must say I am getting MORE and MORE excited to see Dan as Harry in HP-HBP and of course HP-DH...The acting has gotten ever the better and I cant wait for the intensity and power of the last 2 books to come to life!! magic.gif
hp_book_reader
Oh Harry Potter...so mnuch to talk about...well I'll start off by saying that Harry is not my favorite character and Dan is not that hot according to me, but I do really like them both. And like Miss_Mimz said Dan is a really great actor and is always growing in his acting abilities, nit to mention that he is Harry and no matter what he does (like Equus) I will always think of him as Harry.
bookworm101
Wow there's a Harry Potter fan club too? Awesome idea!

I like Harry Potter as the character in the books, but not so much Dan. He was perfect in the first 3 movies (maybe even the fourth) but then he started to get a little...old for the part. I mean, in the fifth he's supposed to be fifteen but he looks twenty.
Then again, it wouldn't be right to find another character to play Harry, otherwise there would be a mob of screaming fans! Plus If you take Daniel away that would be like taking Johnny Depp out of Pirates, or something. It's just not done! (Unfortunately for me)

Anyway, enough about Dan! Lets talk Harry!

I like him well enough, he's not my absolute favorite but I do admire his bravery and courageousness, not to mention his sense of humor!

Did you know (okay, well you probably all do, but I'm saying it anyway) that JK got the idea for Harry from her husband? Like, Harry was modeled after him.

Thats all from me!

Toodles!

Really? I don't really think so, but his hair cut is making him look a bit older. But like you said it doesn't really matter because they could NEVER replace Dan, there would be a HUGE uproar that no one would ever think of replacing him. Not that I think he's hot or anything but he is Harry Potter.

lol funny I find he looks perfect in the more recent HP movies...well he's pretty hard to beat in Prisoner of Azkaban but I adore him in Order of the Phoenix...he fits what I imagined he would...although maybe I'm biased cause I'm influenced by how good his acting got?! Either way its safe to say I'm a hardcore Harry & Dan fan wub.gif (obviously)

Hi everyone! I'm back! I've been away from VTM for a little longer than I've wanted, but now I'm ready for new Harry/Dan discussions!

Where to begin... Well, yes, OotP... I have to say that I really liked his performance. It was Harry for me, but I also have to agree with bookworm101 and hp_book_reader on the matter of his looks. I am very picky when it comes to my favorite book characters being brought into the big screen, and I totally disagreed with his haircut for OotP. It seems to me that his looks were made trying to make him look a little more mature, more grown, and well, they achieved it, only it went a little too far. He's always trying to cover his scar, and that was impossible with his hair being so short! I definitely wish they make it up for HBP, the actors ages are slipping away...

On the other hand, if I was to think of another actor portraying Harry... I just couldn't. He has become my Harry, even if he'll be looking like a James in a couple of years (which I also happen to love...)

So, besides the grown looks, I think he did a very good performance in OotP. Harry was very annoying on that book, he had a lot of anxiety and Dan managed to deliver it to me...

And I also think he is pretty good looking... Hahaha!

Now, as to the comment on JKR... I'm another surprised person, specially because of what you quoted Miss_Mimz, I had also read of the "fully formed" bit from her...

I have to agree with Kaitlyn about OotP, I thought Dan gave a very good performance, I was worried about it because I wasn't a huge fan of Harry in that book but he was very commanding and I was impressed with how much his acting had improved.
Now normally I think Dan is very good looking... but for everyone's enjoyment they need to change his look for HBP. I wasn't keen on the haircut in OotP and considering he's now 18 and he's playing a 16 year old it would really help him look younger if they didn't style his hair like that (that's not really my main reason, it's actually that he's not as good looking wink.gif) but I would like to suggest his hairstyle in Equus which was rather lovely tongue.gif- http://www.hogwartsherald.com/wp-content/u...7/01/277321.jpg (better than Ootp anyway)

And also... after 5 films I can't imagine anyone else playing Harry, it just wouldn't work

Hi Everyone! Thanks to all who replied and kept the topic going biggrin.gif
I do Love reading about and talking about Harry/Dan (...also thinking about, dreaming about...Ahhhh wub.gif )
I do think its time for a NEW question though magic.gif ...so here we go!!

1. In all the 7 books which of Harry's actions do you consider to be his bravest(s)? Explain why you feel the action you choose was the bravest Harry has been smile.gif

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

~ I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to come up with your own Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe questions! Something thought provoking and fun... smartass.gif

OK, I can't remember everything from all 7 so I've probably missed a hugely brave moment but for me it was when he found out about being a Horcrux and that he was supposed to sacrifice himself. It's not like that's something that will ever happen to us, at least not in those circumstances but I can't even begin to imagine what would be going through my head.
Another brave moment- after the Quidditch win in HBP when he kissed Ginny in front of everyone tongue.gif That was pretty brave

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

I'd probably go for OotP when he saw the vision of Voldemort and Sirius, mainly because of... to use Hermione's words... his 'saving people thing'

What do you see as Harry's Best Personality Trait?
He's loving, funny, and kinda smart.

What do you think is his Biggest Flaw?
He can be kinda self centered. You know. I guess so. not really. I don't know if he even has a biggest flaw.

*SPOILERS*
What do you think of Harry and Ginny?
rusynchick
I tinks harrys bravest moment is in prisoner of azkaban, when he controls his emotions and allows sirius and remus to tell their story. I think that took a lot of bravery.

Harry does have a weakest moment- I think it was when he was searching for the horcruxes and the hallows- his mind was overwelmed and his scar burned constantly, he was always open to voldemorts mind during that time, he was vulnerable.

As for harry ginny-I think it is an odepus complex, she looks like lily! I understand that it gives him a family and the trio are all related now, but she looks like his mom and I find it odd.
Just my opinions though.

I have to agree with becky12 here... Even if it sounds a little corny, Harry's acceptance of his own death, the acceptance of the fact that he had to sacrifice himself for others was his bravest moment of all, at least for me. That's a situation that needs an extreme amount of courage and love, and that's something that was never shown before, except by his own parents, which proved him very worth of their love and of course, everyone else's love.

There were other moments, when he was really brave as well, but never as huge as that one. When he stepped into the Common Room and kissed Ginny in HBP, when he was all worried about the other kids that had to be rescued from the bottom of the lake for the second task in GoF, when he went to the MoM to face Voldemort to "save" Sirius in OotP, and when he left Ginny behind for her own safety at the end of HBP, were also moments that will always remain on my mind, but even if they required a lot of courage, none as much as the one of DH.

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

His weakest moment... That's a tough one... I believe it could be the times when he let the Horcrux get to him, but only because he was totally aware of the fact that it could.

Also, whenever he doubted of his friends loyalty, or whenever he hesitated. I know the situations that he was put through were very difficult, but he doubted of Dumbledore even if he knew someone cruel who criticized him (Rita Skeeter) was behind the book. That made me seriously mad. Also, the brief moment when he thought Lupin was the one allowing Sirius in the castle in PoA... Sometimes it's so easy for him to think in a bad way of the people who have been there for him several times before.

1. In all the 7 books which of Harry's actions do you consider to be his bravest(s)? Explain why you feel the action you choose was the bravest Harry has been

I'd have to go with the majority and say that his willingness to sacrifice his own life to save the lives of other's was huge. He was facing never seeing Ginny again, his best friends again, just dying without telling them before hand. He couldn't even write a suicide note! I don't know if I could have done it. But then, he did have some motivation in that he could see his parents, Dumbledore, Sirius, Remus etc again in death. If they weren't factors, I'm not sure he could have done what he did, or at least it would have found it a far more difficult decision to make.

Other than that particular show of bravery, I'd have to say that when he rescued Ginny from the Chamber of Secrets was pretty big. Again it was because he was willing to sacrifice his own life for someone that meant quite a bit to him and to his best mate and surrogate family. He also knew perfectly well what was in store, but did not have any idea of how he was going to defeat the snake. He just knew he had to give it a shot. Brave...

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

Yes. I think his obsession with Malfoy in HBP was quite weak. Even though he was proved correct, he almost skipped his duties etc to follow him. I just found that very annoying. And also when he refused to practice Occlumency, more or less because he didn't like Snape. Sure he was feeling confused and betrayed by Dumbledore, but he should have known better than to doubt his word and intentions. The general 'doubting Dumbledore' thing was quite short-sighted of him though. As Kaitlyn said, he trusted the word of Rita Skeeter and Auntie Muriel over his mentor. huh.gif

Oh, it feels so horrible to critisize Harry! He's been through so much... I can't really lay too much blame or ill-feeling towards him, no matter how stupid his actions. sad.gif

Yes, I'm very soft. happy.gif

Awww I see a lot of answers and a few new people smile.gif Welcome!

Time to answer my questions...

1. In all the 7 books which of Harry's actions do you consider to be his bravest(s)? Explain why you feel the action you choose was the bravest Harry has been

...well for sure I agree with the majority on here. That moment in book 7 is frozen in my mind. I was completely breathless reading DH when Harry realizes what needs to be done to defeat Voldy and well just everything about it is beyond brave. His thought process, the way when he sees loves ones he accepts that its for the last time...Its just absolutely beautiful wub.gif

Other than that amazing moment, I this he showed great bravery in going along with Dd to seek out the Horcruxes...to learn more about Voldemort, his past and all the awful things Voldy had done

Lastly on the bravery well participating in the Tri Wizard tournament was incredibly brave and also teaching the D.A cool2.gif

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

I'm really racking my brain on this one...I see you guys' points on all the answers you gave, its just like Mundu said I have a hard time criticizing Harry. I guess for me its hi refusal to practice occlumency. He was old enough to see that it would genuinely help him even if he hated Snape and was doubting Dd wacko.gif

1. In all the 7 books which of Harry's actions do you consider to be his bravest(s)? Explain why you feel the action you choose was the bravest Harry has been

Wow great question! Well, like all of you, I agree on the fact that him knowing he had to die to save everyone, to kill Voldy, was so noble I almost cried. Then again, with the way things were going, if he wasn't going to kill himself, SOMEONE else was going to end up doing it, if Voldy was going to rise to power.

2. Accordingly did Harry have a weakest moment? Explain.

Hm...the pretty much only weak moment I can think of is him asking Cho to the Yule Ball too late, hahaha! Everything else he did was EXTREMELY brave and good. Well, excpet with Occulmency, like some of you said. He should have tried more, but then again, with SNAPE as a teacher I would have some issues too...

I'm going to start something new....
1: Have you dreamed about dating Daniel/Harry?
I have many times. I obsess over him. It isn't my fault. He's HOT!!! Can you blame me? I don't think so.

1: Have you dreamed about dating Daniel/Harry?

Eww no way! I mean, like I said before, Daniel is not exactly a hot tamale anymore! Maybe, possibly the REAL Harry in the books or something, but I'd date someone more like Ron. I'd love to have Harry as a friend though!

Hello everyone! Let's keep the conversation flowing!

Have you dreamed about dating Daniel/Harry?

Actually I've dreamed of myself as a teenager of Harry's age and liking him, but I guess it's only because he is my type (I like guys with dark hair and green eyes) so I believe it does apply. I've seen myself on dreams learning how to fly on broomsticks and him helping me! Hahaha! Silly me, it happened when I was re-reading the whole series.

Daniel, on the other hand, is very cute and all, but I have a different picture of Harry in my head whenever I read the books, even though he plays him excellently! I'm more of a Sirius-and James obsessed girl, but it's also because of my age...

YAY what a Great Question biggrin.gif

QUOTE

Absolutely and strangely enough just recently I dreamt I was going out with Daniel as Harry wub.gif I was a Witch Myself and I was my age in the dream but I was dating Harry...

Like harry_potter_luvr_4life I obsess with Harry so dreaming of him was a natural progression I guess tongue.gif

...but dreaming of Daniel as Daniel no I've never dreamed of datiing him...I think he's hot and would date him for sure if I could but hes much more dreamy as Harry
becky12
Oh yes of course, the obsession has reached that level lol. It's also very easy for me to dream about dating him because I'm 16 (17 in just over an hour... I only bring that up because 17 sounds so much older lol and because it's closer to Daniel'd age) so it's not like age is a problem in our (dream) relationship
WEASLETTE...GINNY POTTER

WEASLETTE...GINNY POTTER
Golly!!! I wonder where everyone's gone??? sleep.gif No replies for such a fabulous pic? unsure.gif There was a lot of activity here untill recently and suddenly everything's like all quiet shocking.gif ! I wonder what happened? Not done fellas.. lac.gif

Okie, here's another thing I'd like to discuss about Dan. Has any of you watched his movie My Boy Jack? He definitely looks different there from his Harry's avatar. I'd like to know how he has performed in that movie as I am one of those unfortunate people who couldn't watch the movie inspite of it being aired a few days ago on the television sad.gif ...

Waiting for your replies guys... thumbsup.gif

P.S.: I couldn't avoid the double post rule. So, sorry to the MODs as you see I needed to give a wake-up call here. I hope you don't mind...
Hermione17
Okay...I'm new to this forum...but I like it! What a great idea! I haven't seen "My Boy Jack" so I can't help you there. As for that pic...WOW! If I was a little younger (and not married) that would so be up on my wall LOL.

I haven't dreamt of dating Harry or Dan. But I have dreampt that I was accepted into Hogwarts..went shopping in Diagon Alley and attend school.

I think Harry's bravest moment was when he went into the forbidden forest alone...ready to die for everyone that was behind him. Knowing he wasn't going to fight and walk straight into death...now that's brave! His weakest moment I would have to say is letting Voldemort into his mind. He never could apply occlumency until Ron, Hermione and himself were captured and taken to Malfoy manor. Because of this weakness...Voldemort lured Harry to the department of mysteries and Sirius died. However, this same weakness turns out to really help Harry know where Voldemort is and what he is doing!...So I don't know.

Normally the double post rule applies when there is only a short amount of time between your posts. The fact that over a week had passed is ok when you feel a thread needs to be 'bumped'.

Dan really hs grown up, you're right. I like that picture, it's got a definite 'Singing in the Rain' vibe going on!

I saw 'My Boy Jack' when it first aired in the UK. I recorded it but haven't watched it again since then.

Hmm...I think I'm a bit too old for dreaming of dates with teenagers tongue.gif

Wow..etphonehome.thanks for the description of "My Boy Jack" I wish I could see it! I'm in the US...I don't know if they have showed it here or not. The film sounds really really good!
