I want to take a moment and thank Elaine for correcting this. She is doing a great job as my beta for my other fanfic, Daylight Dancer. Thank you once again!
I hope you will enjoy this!

*Nothing is for ever*
It was late at night. Harry was walking aimlessly in the dark streets of London. The wind was blowing in his gray hair and the lines in his face were stretched by the cold. Very few people were passing by him, and no one noticed the tears coming down his face. He felt empty of feelings, as if nothing could touch him anymore.
They say people need to experience loss to remember that happiness is hidden among the smallest things. They say that love can never die. But what happens when one of the lovers is gone forever? How many losses can a heart take? And which one will be the last to overcome?
Tears were now going down his face even harder, as the wind turned into a cry itself. He thought he heard a voice but when he raised his eyes, he was alone in front of a dark alley, facing nothing but total emptiness. He stood there for a while trying to wipe his blinding tears. He looked inside his pockets hoping he would find a long-forgotten tissue. Instead of that, his fingertips touched his small wallet full of golden coins. He took it out and stared at it.
Nothing mattered anymore. He slowly opened it, thinking of where to give his money, when he saw a small stone next to the coins. He took it out trying to figure out what it was, when memories stroke him.
It was many years ago, after the birth of their first child. It was Sunday and they had just left small James to their grandparents. They finally had some free time to spend with each other and they decided to take a stroll in the beach.
After a while, they got tired and sat in the rocks to relax. Harry was looking at the endless ocean while Ginny was collecting some shells.
Suddenly, she left a small scream.
Harry looked at her worried, thinking she was in pain.
"Look Harry!" she said full of excitement. "It is a rock shaped as a heart!"
Her eyes were sparkling and she could not hide her amazement.
Harry laughed and hugged her. He loved her innocence.
Ginny looked around and took out her wand. She said a few words and then, handed the stone to Harry.
He took it trying to figure out what she had done. When he looked at it closer, he realised she had carved three words. It was saying "Harry and Ginny". He smiled.
"So that our love will be as strong as this stone" she whispered and kissed him softly.
He had put the stone inside his wallet where it remained up until that day.
It was so hard recalling all these memories now that Ginny was gone. He didn't think he could ever overcome the pain of never seeing her eyes again. Of never touching her skin and wiping away her tears and anger. Of never resting again upon her heart, trying to ease his pain.
Without realising it, he slowly kissed the stone, hoping it would turn into his beloved one. When he opened his eyes, the stone was still there. Magic has its limits as well.
However, the words in the stone were no longer "Harry and Ginny".
He looked closer. It was saying "I love you".
He shut his eyes once more and when he opened them again, the carved words had changed. "Always and forever"
He closed them again and this time, he read these words: "Bonds of love".
And then "For life and death".
He smiled sweetly.
He remembered Ginny's last words.
"Nothing is for ever, Harry. Only love."
Nothing was for ever. Not life, not loss, not even death.
He looked at the alley in front of him and then, at the row of lights that were giving life to the street.
A little bit far away from him, a star fell.
Harry closed his eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled.
He slowly turned his back to the alley, and followed the lights.
Another star fell.
