So Jo Rowling has hand written 7 copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard for 6 people who helped her with her journey with Harry Potter and a 7th that will be auctioned off for charity. Although I find this very admirable, I am a bit peeved. Will we never get to read these stories?
Why were we, her fans not considered to be helpful to her on her Potter journey? I mean without us, book one could have fallen flat on it's face and the rest of the series could have disappeared into obscurity.

The seventh book which is pictured here, being read from by Jo, is leather bound and encrusted with semi precious stones. It is to go under the hammer at Christies on 13th December after being on show to the public.

I expect I'll get over my feelings about this in time, but just at the moment I feel a bit aggrieved sad.gif

I have to agree with Elaine. Without the fans, the HP series would have fallen flat on its face. I feel a bit slighted that we won't get to read this book from JKR which is tied so closely to DH. I can see saving these 7 extra special copies which were hand-written and encrusted with semi-precious stones for those 6 friends and 1 for charity. But what about going through the normal channels of an editor and using jewel-free covers for the rest of us? Do we not deserve to read these stories?

I must say, though, that at least those 7 books weren't done to generate herself more personal profit. The 7th book is strictly for charity which is a highly admirable thing. Also, it is said that the encyclopedia will be done strictly for charity as well. So I guess I can't be too upset with her not including us in those separate books.

One can only hope that these stories will be included in the encyclopedia she is planning on writing. biggrin.gif

I also agree. Write it for the whole world to read it, or don't write it at all. It's a bit disrespectful for the HP fans all over the world. Thanks to us, the books became so popular and Rowling became that rich. If she wants to thank special people, do it privatly. I guess that must mean just as lot to these people.
