Hey all! I bet you have been wondering where I've been. I have this new fic for you and new inspiration for my fics, Im going to work so hard to get back on scheduele. IM trying to get a Harry Potter club going at my school so Ive been focusing.

1: Breaking Up

Lily Evans was walking down the hallways in fear as she neared the Gryffindor common room. Her red hair was all over the place where her hands had been after leaving the Hospital Wing. Her green eyes were puffy as a result to her tears. How could it have happened? It wasn’t possible!

She was walking to find her boyfriend, James Potter, hoping to tell him the truth. Her boyfriend is the best boyfriend possible. He is always there for her and knows how to calm her down. His untidy jet-black hair and warm hazel eyes made him attractive and his well toned muscular body made him sexy.

He has all of the feminine population at Hogwarts swooning at his feet along with his best friend Sirius Black. Sirius Black is just like James. His hair is longer than James’ and goes to his shoulders. His hair is a dark black and his eyes have a misty gray eyes color which makes him irresistible. He too has the muscular body girls love since he’s a beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. James thought is a chaser and has been captains for three years straight.

They are friends with Lily’s best friend Remus Lupin. Remus has sandy brown hair and soft and gentle sky blue eyes. He is more of the bookworm in the group. He has spectacular grades, even though James and Sirius aren’t too far behind him, and was a prefect in fifth and sixth year with Lily. He is always there for Lily especially when James and her fight. Remus and Lily knew everything about each other; Lily knew about Remus’ condition and Remus knows about Lily’s sister Petunia.

Lastly is Peter Pettigrew, the little rat. Peter was always the one to break the tension between people with a joke which would get him claps on the backs. His blondish hair and brown eyes made him nice looking but not awful. He has the least brainpower but is just important to the boys as everyone else. Together they are the Marauders.

Lily entered the common room and found Remus reading a book by the fire. How would he react? Would he be made? Furious? Or worse...Disappointed? Or was there the chance he would be happy and excited for her? She walked over to the velvet couch and nervously at down next to him.

Lily began to play with her thumbs as she watched Remus squirm and look up at her. He slowly closed his book by placing a bookmark in the pages. He placed the book on his knees and turned to face her.

“Lily, is there something wrong?” Remus asked cautiously.
“No. Nothing’s wrong. Why would you think such a thing?” Lily asked back as she played with her thumbs.
“Because you’re playing with your thumbs and I know that when you do that, something is wrong.” Remus replied matter-a-factly.
“Okay. Something’s wrong. But Im scared to tell James, and he really should be first to know.” Lily said as she looked up from her thumbs.
“Well, if this is bothering you so much…” Remus began.
“It isn’t!” Lily retorted.
“Then we should go find James and tell him.” Remus finished as Lily threw her head into her hands.
“You’re right, but Im scared. He’s going to leave me for this, I know he will. Remus you can’t let me go on my own.” Lily cried as she got up and put her head on his shoulder.
“Then I’ll have to come with you then won’t I?” Remus said trying to get Lily to laugh.

Lily and Remus made their way down the corridors at the dead of night. They were in their seventh year now and Lily was made Head Girl and Remus was prefect again. Technically, they could get away with being out at night; if that didn’t work, looking for a student they hoped would. They kept walking until they heard a door open and saw two figures emerge.

Lily and Remus ran down the corridor faster and saw it was James and Dana Matthew appearing from a broom cupboard. Lily continued to walk until she saw their clothes were full of crinkles and falling off them. She continued walking or running with Remus trailing behind her. Lily stopped right in front of James and Dana began to run away.

“James.” Lily said crisp and deadly.
“Hey love.” James said as he nervously tossled his hair.
“What were you doing with Dana?” Lily asked crossing her arms across her chest.
“Well, as Head Boy, I caught Miss Matthew wandering the corridors and I took responsibility to punish her.” James said as he shuffled his feet.
“And you did this….in a broom cupboard?” Lily asked raising her eyebrows.
“Yes. In a broom cupboard.” James replied proudly.

Remus, who was standing there nervously watching them like a tennis match, quickly stepped between them.

“Look. I think we should all cool down. Lily, James was doing his job…”Remus began but was cut off.
“I think you were cheating on me James Potter.” Lily began.
“I think not.” James replied.
“I think you couldn’t take the fact you weren’t getting action and decided to get it from someone else because I would never know because I trust you. And you thought you could take advantage of my trust for a little while because I would trust not to look for you!“ Lily said raising her voice.
“No Lils. It’s not like that! Yeah, I took advantage of the girl but not to take advantage of your trust!” James retorted.
“So you admit you cheated on me!” Lily screamed infuriated.
“Yeah! I cheated on you! You happy now?!” James yelled.
“NO! I am not happy now! Im furious that you would cheat on me when you said you loved me and I would be the only girl in your life! Are you breaking up with me? Is this your way to break up with me? By breaking my heart in the process!” Lily screamed.
“NO! Im not breaking up with you Lily. I love you, I mean it, and you are the only girl in my life!” James said sounding weaker.
“Then find a woman! Find a woman for your life because Im through with you! It’s over James Potter!” Lily screamed before slapping his face and running down the corridors back to the common room.

Lily awoke the next morning and carefully walked down to the common room checking if James was around. Once she saw he wasn’t there, she crept out of the common room and down the halls and stairs to Professor Dumbledore’s office.

She stared at the gargoyle carefully thinking of what she was going to say. She was really desperate going to him.

“Chocolate Frogs.” Lily said before the gargoyle began to turn and show its steps.

Lily walked onto the steps and waited as she was lifted to his office. She arrived at the door and cautiously knocked before the door opened with a large creak.

She walked inside softly and jumped when she saw Dumbledore sitting at his desk.

“Ah. Miss Evans, I have been wondering when you were going to visit me.” Dumbledore said wisely.
“Yes Headmaster. You see, I have a problem.” Lily said sitting down in a chair.
“And what is this problem? I may have a solution.” Dumbledore replied.
“Um, Well, Im ashamed of it.” Lily said quickly.
“There is never anything to be ashamed of.” Dumbledore said nicely and calmly.
“I’m pregnant.” Lily said cautiously.

2: Julie Evans

“Miss Evans, this is quite a shock but not a surprise. Madam Wach contacted me last night after you left the Hospital Wing. But why are you so worried? There is only a week left of school and you have Mr. Potter who will make an excellent father.” Dumbledore said.
“But we just broke up due to the fact that he cheated on me. I can’t tell my family and Im supposed to be going to Auror training.” Lily said sadly.
“Well then, we have a problem. Have you considered any other careers?” Dumbledore asked cautiously.
“Healing sir.” Lily replied.
“What if I got you a position as a Healer in the States?” Dumbledore asked leaning over his table to get close to her.
“I’d forever be grateful.” Lily said softly.
“Well then it’s settled. I know some people over there and in a week’s time, you will be out of England.” Dumbledore said softly.

“Bye Remus!” Lily called as she was leaving Kings Cross.
“I can’t believe you’re going to the States, Im gonna miss you Lily.” Remus said as he hugged her.
“I need to get away Remus.” Lily said sighing as she hugged back.
“Promise me you’ll come back one day.” Remus replied breaking the hug.
“I’ll come back if necessary.” Lily said before departing.

Lily had successfully avoided James for the last week and was able to keep her pregnancy secret. But now she was leaving to work at St. Rebecca’s Hospital for witches and wizards. She was being given an apartment for when the baby was born and free medical care.

Three hours later, she was on a plane to the United States – New York. She was leaving her world behind all for this child that James had no clue about. She slowly laid back in her seat and fell asleep.

“Good morning you must be Miss Evans. Im Healer Cullen and behalf of the staff, welcome to St. Elizabeth’s.” Mrs. Cullen said as she walked Lily through the staff lounge.
“Thank you.” Lily responded over whelmed.
“Your shift begins at ten and if you haven’t noticed it is 9:30. Your first appointment to check on your baby is at 2. Now, you are to wear this and be in room 10 in five minutes to receive instructions.” Healer Cullen finished before exiting the room.

Lily looked at her clothes and sighed, this was going to be the beginning of a new Lily.

“Miss Evans, I need you to push now!” Healer Cullen yelled nine months later.

Lily Evans was now giving birth to James Potter’s child; she hadn’t had contact with anyone in England these nine months. Lily was planning on taking a year off for her baby and then to go back to work at St. Elizabeth’s.

“Thank you Miss Evans. You have been blessed with a baby girl.” Healer Cullen announced.

Healer Cullen arrived back in the delivery room fifteen minutes later carrying Lily’s baby girl.

“Here you go dear. Any ideas on names?” Healer Cullen asked.
“Julie Rose Evans.” Lily said softly as she kissed Julie’s forehead.
“That’s a beautiful name Miss Evans.” Healer Cullen said as she sighed at the baby.
“It would be even better if her father knew about her.” Lily sighed softly.
“Things will get easier, I was left to grow up in an Orphanage but I turned my life around, I will personally get you and young Julie going.” Healer Cullen said.
“Thank you Healer Cullens” Lily said.
“You call me Leslie for now on.” Leslie said before leaving the room.

After she left, Lily laid back in her bed holding Julie in her arms. She looked at the clock and the small calendar.

“Today is February 28th, 1978. Happy Birthday Julie.” Lily said softly before letting Julie be taken back to the nursery for a good night’s rest.

3: Sickness

Two years later, Lily Evans was now running the perfect lifestyle. Julie was growing strong and healthy. Her hair was a delicate shade of red and her eyes were the most gorgeous color of hazel ever seen. She was two years old now and walking around happily and speaking short sentences. Lily was blessed to have Julie around and to have Leslie’s help.

Lily returned to being a full time healer while Julie played in the child’s room under Leslie’s watchful eye. Julie would put on small shows for the sick children and keep their spirits up. But it definitely was hard for Julie when some of her friends went into their rooms and never came back to play.

Over the two years, Lily entered one relationship which lasted a year but was broken off when the man moved away. Leslie was retiring next year at an age of 65 and everyone was really sad about her departure. She was getting old and gray but filled every patient with hope and love. Every day she walked in with a smile and gave each child the most love possible.

When Julie would get sick, the hospital gave her, her own room and took care of her until she was in tip-top shape. For the past two Christmases, Julie awoke to find many presents and spent all day teaching kids how to play games.

Many healers called Julie the beginning of a saint. Her red hair was slowly growing out long; Lily would always place Julie’s hair in pigtails and Julie’s hazel eyes shined with pride every time she made a kid smile. Lily and Julie lived in a small apartment for the past two years.

“Mornin momma” Julie called out as Lily picked Julie up out of bed.
“Morning baby, did you sleep alright?” Lily asked softly.
“Yes.” Julie responded as Lily dressed Julie in her blue jeans and her favorite pink shirt with a rainbow stretching across the front and a pot of gold on the back.

Julie slipped on her favorite blue flat shoes and sat down on her mother’s bed while Lily got out hair clips and ponytail holders for Julie and herself. The apartment was very small so Julie and Lily shared a bedroom. They had a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room.

An hour later, Lily and Julie were ready to head to work after a quick breakfast of French toast. Lily picked Julie up and carried her outside while they walked down the block to the hospital. They walked into the hospital slowly for some patients were still sleeping.

Lily put Julie down and signed in for work while Julie said good morning to the fishes in the fish tank located in the lobby. Julie took the can of food and sprinkled some food into the fish tank before closing the cap and skipping back to her mother.

“Morning Leslie.” Lily said as Leslie emerged from the lobby doors.
“Good morning Lily.” Leslie responded nodding to her and then noticed there was extra weight on her right leg. She looked down to see Julie clutching onto her leg happily and wearing an award winning smile.

“Auntie Leslie!” Julie screamed happily still smiling.
“And good morning to you Miss Julie. You excited for today?” Leslie asked as Julie detangled herself from Leslie.

Julie just nodded as she took Lily’s hand before being led off to the play room. The play room wasn’t a large room but a nice size. The walls were painted blue and the floor was covered with carpet the color of lilac. Simple games were sitting in a corner while some play gyms were in the middle of the room. Julie’s personal favorite was the one with the monkey-bars, slide, rock climbing and pole. Coloring books and regular reading books were on top of tables in another corner with crayons. At the door of the playroom were chairs with magazines where the parents could sit for a while.

Lily took Julie inside and helped start up the heat and getting the room ready. Katie – another healer – walked in and said good morning before taking over and Lily left to get to work.

IN ENGLAND….

“Morning James” Sirius said as he entered the kitchen to find James eating breakfast.

James grunted as he reached for the milk across the table. Sirius though grabbed it first and finished off the carton by filling up his glass to the brim.

James, Sirius and Remus had moved into James’ house after The Potters passed on. James and Sirius were working as Unspeakables while Remus was working in Flourish and Blotts. Sirius was still going through girls like pairs of socks while Remus had one relationship for the past two years. James was the only one who took himself off the market.

The three of them missed Lily dearly but while James was the most hurt from her rejection, Remus was having the worst time. Her promise still ringed through his ears, “I’ll come back if necessary”, but would she really ever come back? He tried to send letters but he could never find her address or she never wrote back.

No one knew what was going on with her; she seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. People were really surprised when James and Lily hadn’t gotten engaged by the end of the school year, everyone would say how they were the ‘ideal couple’ and everyone wanted to be like them.

But now all James wanted to do was to move on.

By noon Lily had an hour break and left her room to get Julie from the play area. But Julie wasn’t there. Katie had sworn to see Julie in there all morning but Julie was nowhere to be found.

Lily left the room and ran down to the lobby before she found Julie sitting on the couch speaking to a couple with a young baby. Lily, who sighed with relief, ran up to Julie and hugged her.

“Hey baby. Don’t leave the room again. You began to scare me.” Lily said as she held Julie’s head close to her ear.
“Momma, they have a little boy who is getting his first check up!” Julie said excited.
“That’s very nice.” Lily said before facing the couple, “Hello; Im Healer Evans, do you have an appointment?” she asked them.
“Yes, it’s in a few minutes. Your daughter is something special.” The woman said.
“Thank you, I hope everything goes well.” Lily said before she motioned for Julie to get up.

Julie rose from her seat waved goodbye and kissed the baby’s forehead before skipping back to Lily. Lily grasped her daughters hand and walked off to the lunch room for lunch.

They entered the lunchroom and both picked up two orange colored plastic trays and got on the food line. They placed their trays on the rails and got her money out while Julie ordered chicken nuggets, apple juice and fries. Lily got herself a house salad with Ranch dressing before paying for the food.

Lily and Julie sat together at a table for two by a window. They began to eat before Julie began to speak.

“Momma, everyone always asks me If Im sick.” Julie said.
“They do?” Lily asked putting down her fork.
“All the little kids, they think that since I’m here so much that I must be really sick. Am I going to get sick from being around sick kids?” Julie asked.
“No dear, the play room has a charm to keep germs off everyone so the room stays clean.” Lily explained as Julie began to eat.
“So I won’t ever get sick?” Julie asked.
“Not from another child.” Lily responded.
“But I’ll get sick?” Julie asked again.
“Everyone gets sick Julie, mommy gets sick sometimes too.” Lily replied smiling.
“No, no, no! I don’t want mommy to get sick.” Julie said beginning to frown.
“Everyone gets sick sometimes. It’s supposed to happen.” Lily finished off.

They continued to eat quietly before Julie played with her fries and said softly but sadly, “Cally didn’t come back to the room today.”

Lily frowned and knew that Cally must have passed away yesterday because she left the room yesterday for blood replenishing, twice her usual dosage. Julie continued to play with her food as she continued to frown. It was hard for her to lose her friends. Cally lived the longest out of all of Julie’s friends. Cally came when Julie was turning one and lasted till yesterday when she should have died sixth months before.

They finished off their lunch before Lily took Julie back to the room. Leslie took over the room while Lily headed back to work.

Lily finished work at six and went to get changed from her robes to her jeans and t-shirt. She walked to the room and found it empty. Not even Leslie was in there. Lily walked down to the lobby and found Leslie running through the lobby.

“Leslie! What’s wrong? Where’s Julie?” Lily asked quickly stopping the healer.
“I don’t know. She was there and then was gone!” Leslie said quickly.

They quickly split and I began to blot down the hallways. Her heart rate increased every time I took a turn. Her blood was boiling as she ran down to the first floor and saw something at the end of the hall. Lily continued to run and run faster until she reached the end.

There laid Julie as if she passed out. She wasn’t breathing.

“HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!” Lily screamed as she picked up her baby and bolted to the first room available. She found a healer who quickly took her into one of the examination rooms and kept Lily out.

Three hours later, the healer walked out with a frown on his face.

“Miss Evans, we have some bad news for you about Julie.”

And...??

4: Leukemia

Lily let her head fall as she found her daughter in the hospital bed hooked up to many wires and devices.

“What’s wrong with my daughter?” Lily asked fearfully.
“She has a type of cancer called leukemia.” The healer announced.

Lilys head fell and looked at the ground. She knew there was no type of cancer from her family; it must have been part of James’ side. But no matter where it came from, it was cancer. And it wasn’t regular cancer, it was leukemia. Lily had heard about it and she knew that was what killed Cally. Lily looked slowly up and glanced at Julie carefully.

Her baby girl. Her perfect little angel was sick with the worst disease around. The healer began to speak again as Lily got up and held Julie’s hand.

“We can treat her, but as you know, the treatment isn’t working on many.”

The next few days were rough for everyone. The news spread around and soon everyone knew young Julie was sick. Leslie visited regularly, but Julie hadn’t woken from her collapse.

Lily refused to leave her daughters bedside and everyone understood. Everyone let her be and would bring her food during the day. She would sit around holding Julie’s hand while she tried not to think of the future. Julie was perfect and the most important thing to her. She was blessed to have Julie and now she might be taken away.

She needed help. And she needed it fast. Lily then thought of the one person she could go too. She took out a piece of parchment, a quill, and ink.

She began to write slowly in her beautiful cursive letters.

Dear Remus,

My it’s been a long time. How are you? Im worries for my life at the moment. I can’t explain in this letter for it would be way too confusing. Can you please come to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in New York? If you say the name, and then apparated you’ll find the place. Ask for me. I need your help.

Love,
Lily Evans

Remus dropped the letter by the time he finished reading it. Lily Evans was alive and healthy. And she wanted him to visit. Remus quickly finished stacking his last set of books before he clocked out and disappeared into the night.

But he didn’t know that another person had picked up the note.

“Hello. What room is Lily Evans in?” a voice asked softly.
“You mean, Julie Evans. Right?” Leslie asked frowning.
“No Lily.” The man replied.
“Oh dear. She’s in room 230.” Leslie said dismissing the man.

The man quickly walked up the stairs as his black cloak swished around the corner. He ran down the hallways and stopped at room 203.

“Lily. Who’s that?”

5: Time Flies...

“Remus.” Lily said as she jumped off her chair and ran into his arms. She began to sob and fell weak into his arms. Tears spilled out of her eyes and dampened his t-shirt. She continued to cry before she let go of him softly and wiped her eyes.
“That’s Julie. My daughter.” Lily said still wiping her eyes.
“You have a daughter?” Remus asked simply.
“Yes. She’s two, and she’s really sick.” Lily replied leading Remus over to Julie.
“You’re married?” Remus asked quickly.
“Im not married Remus.” Lily responded quietly.
“Then how do you have a kid?” Remus asked impatiently.
“Accidents happen.” Lily mumbled.

Remus walked over to Julie’s side and put his hand through her hair. He smiled as he watched the little girl smile. Lily joined Remus and smiled as Julie’s eyes began to open.

“Julie?” Lily asked softly.
“Hi momma.” Julie replied yawning.
“Oh thank goodness.” Lily mumbled before she kissed the top of Julie’s forehead in relief and began to sob.
“Momma, why are you crying?” Julie asked softly holding onto her mother’s hand.
“Nothing dear.” Lily responded quickly wiping away tears.
“Who’s the man?” Julie asked.
“My name is Remus. It’s nice to meet you Julie. Im a friend of your mothers.” Remus said smiling.
“Momma said she never had friends. She came here because she was hurt.” Julie said looking at Remus.
“Darling, I said I was hurt. I never said I didn’t have friends.” Lily said intercepting.
“Momma, Im hungry.” Julie said softly sitting up. “Can we go to the cafeteria?”
“No dear. I’ll get Leslie to bring us something. Stay here.” Lily said before leaving the room followed by Remus.

“Lily, we have to talk about this.” Remus said as they walked down the hallway.
“Not now. She just woke up. She’s been asleep for a week.” Lily replied walking at a faster pace.
“Her eyes look like his. Who’s her father Lily?” Remus asked stepping in front of her.
“Look, please not right now.” Lily quickly responded before dashing down the halls and into the cafeteria.
“She is his! Isn’t she? I know it. She’s James’.” Remus said excited helping Lily get some food onto the tray.
“Shush. Not so loud. Alright, yes, James is her father.” Lily replied as she reached for her wallet.
“And you never told him? Or me?” Remus asked hurt.
“He cheated on me Remus. He cheated on me after he got me pregnant. What was I to do? Say, “Oh James, while you were messing with another girl, you got me knocked up”? I couldn’t say that.” Lily said grabbing the food and leaving the cafeteria.
“But you could have told him. Or me.” Remus replied proving a point.
“Im telling you now ain’t I?” Lily asked looking at him.
“You are. Now, what’s wrong with Julie? Why is she hospitalized?” Remus asked as they reached the room.
“She has cancer. It’s called leukemia. It’s been killing a lot of kids here.” Lily said quickly.
“What’s leukemia?” Remus asked stupidly.
“It’s the cancer of blood. It develops in the bone marrow which is the center of long bones. It needs white and red blood cells and platelets. The white fights infection, red carries oxygen and platelets stops bleeding. Leukemia creates extra white blood cells which do not produce correctly and then multiply. Bone marrow can only hold so many cells, and sends signals not to reproduce anymore. But with leukemia, the white blood cells reproduce no matter what. This causes an unbalance of the cells which destroys the bone marrow.” Lily explained softly.
“Will she die?” Remus asked looking into the room.
“I don’t know Remus. I don’t know what to do.” Lily cried.
“Aren’t there treatments or something?” Remus asked fearfully.
“Yeah, there are some. But they might not work and could make it worse.” Lily responded.
“Lily, let me go back. And ask around at St. Mungos. I’ll come back next week. Owl me if she gets worse.” Remus said.
“Promise me you won’t tell him.” Lily said quickly as he was turning around.
“I promise Lils. But he needs to know.” Remus whispered before vanishing.

“Remus, where have you been?” Sirius asked as he found Remus reading in the sitting area.
“No where Sirius.” Remus replied closing his book, Leukemia: And its affects
“You were somewhere. One o’clock. The Leaky Cauldron. You, me and James. Lunch. Ring a bell?” Sirius asked sitting down next to him.
“Oh my goodness Sirius. I totally forgot. I met up with an old friend from school and she needed my help.” Remus replied.
“Well, well, well. Big Moony is back in action.” Sirius whistled.
“No I’m not. Someone close to her is sick and she wanted to know if I knew anything about the disease.” Remus replied as he placed the book on a light stand.
“Well. There’s only one girl we aren’t in contact with from Hogwarts. And there’s no way you could have seen her. She dropped off the Earth.” Sirius replied laughing.
“Don’t say that Sirius.” Remus said angry and upset.
“Don’t say what?” Sirius responded.
“Don’t talk about Lily like that.” Remus explained.
“You found her?” Sirius asked.
“I didn’t find her. She found me.” Remus said shortly.
“What?” Sirius asked stupidly.
“What Im about to tell you. Is between us, understood?” Remus asked quietly.
Sirius simply nodded.

By the time Remus was done, Sirius was sitting on the couch in shock. He couldn’t believe a word Remus said. But it was true. It all fit.

“Lily has a daughter named Julie?” Sirius asked again.
“Yes.” Remus replied.
“Who is James’ kid?” Sirius asked once more.
“Yes.” Remus responded.
“Who is really sick with a rare disease?” Sirius asked.
“Yes, Sirius.” Remus snapped.

Sirius sat up, played with one of his hair locks and looked Remus in the eye.

“Who’s telling James?” he asked.
“No one.” Remus replied.
“No one?” Sirius asked shocked.
“No one.” Remus replied once more.
“We have to tell him.” Sirius said trying to reason with his friend.
“No we can’t. Not now, Lily is going through enough. Im going to ask around St. Mungos on leukemia and then bring Lily back what I have.” Remus said proudly.
“Can I come with you?” Sirius asked sadly.
“I guess so. The kid is adorable. She calls Lily ‘momma’ has red hair like Lils and James’ hazel eyes. She’s gorgeous and has soft plump cheeks which brighten when she smiles.” Remus said as he got up and re-heated some food.
“Sounds like a charmer when she gets older.” Sirius nodded.
“She plays with the kids at the hospital, the sick ones I mean. Puts on shows, tries to read them books, teach them games. And Lily works with the children who are sick when they aren’t with Julie. The two of them have the perfect mother-daughter relationship.” Remus smiled.
“What about James?” Sirius whispered.
“What about me?” James asked as he entered the kitchen.
“Sirius was asking me if he should re-heat you some food.” Remus said quickly winking at Sirius.
“Oh. Well my answer is yes please.” James said sitting down.

While Sirius went off to re-heat James some food, James poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice and stared at Remus.

“You missed lunch. Why?” James asked.
“I had to stay over-time. Sorry James. I’ll make it up to you.” Remus responded.
“Ah well. We missed yeah. But we know you and books.” James laughed.
“Better than PB and J.” Sirius finished giving James his food.
“You guys are so funny.” Remus laughed as he got his book again.
“What are you reading now?” James asked.
“A book on children sicknesses.” Remus responded.
“Sounds depressing.” James said.
“It is, lots of kids die from these sicknesses every year.” Sirius replied sadly.
“Oh Im sorry Sirius. Are you thinking about her now?” Remus asked quietly.
“I miss her. I wish she had a longer life, but life is unfair. So you have to make the most out of all your time when you’re alive. Never take anything for granted.” Sirius said before he left the room.
“Is today…?” James asked.
“Yeah.” Remus responded before silence filled the room.

“Welcome to St. Mungos. How may I help you?” a woman asked.
“I have some questions on treatments.” Remus replied.
“We aren’t allowed to give out that information.” The woman responded.
“Do you remember Lily Evans? She was planning on becoming a healer here later.” Remus said.
“Yes. She was a brilliant student. I wish I knew what happened to her.” The woman said sadly.
“I know. Someone important to her has leukemia. And she was wondering if I could ask you about some treatments. What works, what doesn’t?” Remus said quietly.
“Oh my. Well. Chemotherapy is usually good. That’s a bone marrow transplant. Um, let me see. I have a list of things. Let me get it for you.” The woman responded.
“Thank you.” Remus said before the woman walked into an office.

She emerged moments later with a huge list.

“Now, the first ten are most recommended for young children. The next ten are for regular kids. Next ten for teenagers. And so on. I know for a fact some hospitals are having problems with the disease. Like Saint Elizabeths. My, oh my. My best friend’s sister’s daughter just passed away. The girl was two. Her name was Cally Weinsfield. They have excellent medical care, just not the right care for leukemia. I’ve been telling that place for years. Anyone who has leukemia over there should simply come here. We could treat the child so much better and expand their life period.” The woman responded.
“Im sorry about your loss maim.” Remus said quietly.
“It’s alright. We lose more children than adults. And this war. With You-Know-Who rising, it’s much worse. Well, I hope this helps Miss Evans. Tell her, that she is welcome here anytime.” The woman replied.
“Oh I will.” Remus said before walking out.

“Momma. Am I sick?” Julie asked two days later.
“Why would you ask such a silly question?” Lily asked.
“Because I’ve been sitting in this bed for a long time.” Julie replied. “Im bored.”

Lily laughed and kissed her girls forehead as she laid down next to her.

“Momma. Do I have a daddy?” Julie asked suddenly.
“Why Julie?” Lily asked.
“Because that man looked like what I imagined my daddy to look like.” Julie replied.
“Remus is a very old friend of mine. He is not your daddy.” Lily laughed.
“Do you talk to daddy a lot?” Julie asked sitting up facing Lily.
“No honey. I don’t.” Lily said quietly.
“But I have a daddy, right?” Julie asked.
“Of course you do.” Lily said simply.
“You just don’t talk to him momma?” Julie asked.
“No. I don’t talk to him.” Lily said softly.
“Have you talked to him recently? Does he know I’m sick? Does he know everything about me just like you do?” Julie asked quickly getting excited.
“I haven’t talked to your dad in a long time. We got into a fight, and he hurt me, I moved away and then had you.” Lily said kissing her daughters nose.
“That’s why you moved. Daddy?” Julie asked softly.
“Yes sweetheart. Daddy.” Lily replied before they fell asleep together and wondered what the next day would bring for them.

It wasn’t that Lily didn’t want James to know about Julie. She didn’t know how to tell him. And she had to be the one to tell him. Not Remus, this was her job. But, after all that happened, Lily couldn’t see herself letting James back in to help her and Julie make things right. It seemed unreal and like a dream.

6: Thoughtful Thinking

Sirius and Remus stood outside the house watching James disapparate silently.

“Ready?” Remus asked.
“I guess so.” Sirius replied before he held Remus’ arm and they disappeared.

~*~*~*

Lily was walking in the lobby when she saw Remus come through the door.

“Oh thank heavens! “ Lily said and ran towards him.

But she ran into….Sirius.

“I missed you too Lily. My you are looking fine two years later, even after a kid.” Sirius said winking at her.
“You told him?” Lily asked Remus.
“I wasn’t allowed to tell James. I thought he was the him, you were referring too.” Remus replied.
“He was, oh but now I have Sirius Black in a hospital. What will I do?” Lily asked out loud.
“Im not that bad Lily, I’ve grown up Lily.” Sirius said softly.
“Alright. I trust you. Remus, did you get anything?” Lily asked.
“I have a list.” Remus said.
“They started treatment for her.” Lily responded quickly.
“Can we see her?” Sirius asked
“I think so. Come on.” Lily said as she walked down the hallways.

They reached the room and Lily stopped and knocked on the door.

“Leslie, may I come in?” Lily asked.
“Yes, she’s waking up now.” Leslie replied before emerging from the room.
“Thank you Leslie. This is Remus and Sirius.” Lily said quickly.

They walked into the room and found Lily sitting up holding a doll.

“Momma! Remus! Random man!” Julie screamed.
“Hey baby.” Lily said kissing her little girl.
“Hey Julie.” Remus said.
“This is Sirius Black, another good friend of mine.” Lily replied.
“I like your hair. It’s pretty.” Julie said softly.

Sirius began to smile as he watched the little girls eyes sparkle. Her sweet strawberry hair and hazel eyes made her beautiful in every way. Her plump cheeks and baby fat gave her a shiny look. Her teeth were sparkling white and shined when she smiled. Sirius’ heart seemed to melt a little as Julie spoke softly.

“Thank you Julie. I really like your hair, it’s very pretty. Just like our mothers.” Sirius said.
“Are you my daddy?” Julie asked quickly.
“Julie.” Lily said sharply.

Sirius was taken aback by the question and heard another girl’s voice ring through his ears, “Daddy, pick me up! I love you”. Sirius shuddered and stopped his tears before he began. He looked at Julie and smiled. He walked to the edge of her bed, and gave her a hug.

“No Julie. Im not your dad.” Sirius said softly.
“Momma. I want to meet my dad.” Julie complained.
“No Julie, not like this.” Lily replied.
“But you said Im not sick.” Julie said quickly.
“You’re not.” Remus and Lily said at once.
“What are you talking about; she’s sick as a dog!” Sirius exclaimed.
“Don’t lie to me momma! Im sick!” Julie screamed.
“You are not sick and you will not be meeting your father, not until you are ready.” Lily said sharply but fiercely.
“I am. But are you?” Julie asked before she turned to the other side and went to sleep.

Lily left the room and went to the bathroom. She let the tears spill from her eyes and growled in frustration. Julie was sick, but she didn’t want Julie to know that. Julie wants her father, but her father doesn’t even know of her existence.

Julie’s words still ran through Lily’s ears. Maybe Julie was right. Maybe, it was Julie who was ready and Lily wasn’t. Lily escaped for a reason and might be embarrassed to run away from her problems. Julie was the little girl who never met her father and that’s all she wanted.

But could Lily do it? Was she ready? It haunted her, the past. Could she really go speak to him after all these years? Could she suck it up for the sake of her daughter? Her little girl could die – and Lily knew she didn’t want Julie to leave without knowing her father.

But was this the right time? That question haunted Lily for the next several hours.

7: Leaving Leslie

Lily returned to find Remus and Sirius sleeping on the couch. Julie was sleeping in her bed clutching her favorite stuffed animal. Lily walked over to Julie and kissed her forehead lightly before turning towards the sleeping men.

She shook them gently and waited for them to wake up. Remus woke first and then shoved Sirius until his eyes open and yawned. Lily pulled them out the door and brought them to the cafeteria. It was around midnight and Lily knew that no one went to the cafeteria now. She motioned them toward a table and sat down.

They sat down in tow and looked around nervously.

“Remus, what did you find?” Lily asked softly.
“I found a lot.” Remus replied.
“Well, like what?” Lily asked again.
“A woman told my chemotherapy helps a lot.” Remus said.
“Oh yes. I heard about that. I don’t want to do anything harsh before its necessary though.” Lily replied.
“Well there are bone marrow transplants. Biological and Radiation therapy. I have a full list in which you can look at.” Remus said handing the list to Lily and watched her scan it.
“Lily. There’s something else you should know.” Remus added.
“What is it?” Lily asked concerned.
“When I was at St. Mungos, the woman was telling me about a hospital which isn’t the best to treat children with leukemia.” Remus said slowly.
“Which hospital?” Lily asked frightened.
“It’s here Lily.” Sirius said quickly.
“What?” she asked sharply.
“St. Elizabeths doesn’t have the right equipment and can’t perform the right treatment. The healers in England have been trying to tell this place for years. St. Mungos is much better for Julie, they can extend her life span with a greater chance for survival.” Remus explained.
“Whoa whoa. This isn’t some crazy scheme to get me and Julie in England is it?” Lily asked confused.
“No. It’s true, I checked the records myself. Lily, I really think you and Julie should come to St. Mungos for treatment. Before things get worse.” Remus said thoughtfully.
“I just can’t go back there.” Lily said trying to think of an excuse.
“Why not?” Sirius asked getting upset.
“I can’t risk Julie meeting James and then he does something.” Lily replied.
“Like what?” Remus and Sirius asked at once,
“Tries to win me back, or what if James met Julie a week before she dies. I wouldn’t be able to take that.” Lily explained.
“Lily, listen to me. James’ parents died last year; he has no reason to be near St. Mungos. He’ll never know.” Remus said holding onto Lily’s hand.
“And it’s for Julie’s sake.” Sirius added quietly.
“That’s right Lily. Julie needs this. It’s for Julie’s well being.” Remus said.
“Alright, we’ll go. For Julie.” Lily said in defeat.

“Julie sweetheart. I need you to wake up.” Lily said soothingly into Julie’s ear.

Julie turned a couple of times before her hazel eyes shined brightly into the sun. She began to smile and sat up reaching for her hair. She moved her fingers through it before she noticed Remus and Sirius weren’t in the room.

“Where are Remus and Sirius?” Julie asked.
“They are talking to the doctors.” Lily said calmly.
“Momma, am I really sick?” Julie asked again.
“Oh Julie, you are sick. But we are going to get you better.” Lily responded before kissing her girls cheek.
“What are the doctors going to do to me?” Julie asked.
“Oh nothing today. They are going to look you over.” Lily said in responded.
“Then what are we going to do?” Julie asked.
“Julie, I love you. You and me are going to go back with Remus and Sirius to England. There’s a lovely hospital there that can take care of you better.” Lily said before she stood up.

She walked over to the table and began to clean up the room. She threw out old food, bandages, juice boxes and more. Julie watched her carefully and then saw Lily get a suitcase from under the bed.

“We are going to leave Auntie Leslie?” Julie asked sadly.
“Oh Julie. We’ll come back to visit, Auntie Leslie understands. Right now we need to get you better.” Lily said sweetly.
“Will Remus and Sirius visit me in the new hospital?” Julie asked.
“Every day.” Lily responded.
“What about my daddy? Will he visit me?” Julie asked.
“I don’t know Julie.” Lily said before she left the room.

She walked to the lobby and found Remus and Sirius speaking to Leslie. Lily walked up to the group and noticed Leslie wasn’t taking the news well.

“Leslie.” Lily said giving her friend a hug.
“You can’t be leaving me now, not during my last year of work.” Leslie wailed.
“Leslie. Julie needs St. Mungos.” Remus restated.
“No she doesn’t. I can get young Julie into shape.” Leslie defended.
“Her case is really bad. St. Mungos can help her more.” Sirius added.

Leslie continued to wail.

“Leslie. Me and Julie will visit, we aren’t going to abandon you.” Lily said hugging her tightly.
“Julie keeps everyone hopeful for all those who are sick. You can’t take our joy away.” Leslie cried even more.
“Julie, needs help. And she will not let herself get help unless everyone understands and tells her it’s for the best. Please help me.” Lily said letting go.

Leslie sniffled softly before she nodded.

“Thank you Leslie. Julie is in her room, can you help her get dressed? Thank you.” Lily said as Leslie left.
“Are her records transferred?” Lily asked Remus immediately.
“Yes, they are safely at St. Mungos, they are getting her room ready now.” Remus replied.
“What will her arrangements be like?” Lily asked Sirius.
“Probably a room to herself since she’ll live there. They will let you two decorates the room as you want so she feels at home.” Sirius replied.
“That’s wonderful. If you guys want to come say good bye to Julie before you leave.” Lily said and they nodded and the three of them walked down the halls and up the stairs till they reached room 230.

“There you go Miss Julie.” They heard Leslie say.
“I’ll miss you Auntie Leslie.” Julie said.
“I’ll miss you too sweetheart. But you’ll be back.” Leslie said.
“I love you Leslie.” Julie whispered and that sent Leslie to more sobs. “Don’t cry auntie.”
“I love you so much Miss Julie.” Leslie cried.

Lily, Remus and Sirius were standing but then heard Julie reach towards Leslie and couldn’t hear what she said next. Julie was hugging Leslie and came close to her before whispering ‘I won’t be back’.

“What do you mean Julie?” Leslie asked frightened.
“Okay, how’s my little girl.” Lily said entering the room. “We have to get going. Say goodbye to Auntie Leslie.”
“Bye Auntie Leslie.” Julie said as she hugged Leslie once more.

Leslie was almost out the door before Julie called out, “WAIT!” Leslie turned around quickly and saw Julie running toward her with a camera. How could Leslie have forgotten? Julie had a photo album with every person in St. Elizabeths and some of her friends.

“I need a picture with my auntie before I leave.” Julie smiled.

Lily walked toward them and took Julie’s camera and turned it on as they got into a pose. Lily took two pictures, them smiling and a silly face, Julie has stuck her tongue out and raised her eyebrows. Leslie too stuck out her tongue but put it to the side of her mouth and let her eyes go wide.

Lily laughed and handed Julie her camera. Lily had to just run to the apartment, drop off the key, and double check everything and they would be on their way.

“Julie, can you stay with Remus and Sirius for five minutes?” Lily asked.
“Sure momma.” Julie replied putting her camera away.
“You should look around and make sure everything is packed, and say goodbye.” Lily said before she left.

Lily arrived back at St. Elizabeths half an hour later with four small suitcases. Julie was sitting in the lobby with Remus and Sirius. She had her little suitcase next to her and she wore her pink heavy coat. Her red hat with poodles on it was on her hair as her hair was in pigtails. She wore red mittens and was ready to go.

Lily walked up to Julie as she put her coat on and stuck her shrinked suitcases into her pockets. She hugged Remus and Sirius before taking Julie’s hand. They walked to the fireplace and took some floo powder.

“Julie, we need to start your treatment soon. So we are going to travel by Floo Powder.” Lily said.
“Floo Powder?” Julie asked.
“You’re coming with me; we are going to step into the fireplace then Im going to say the name of our destination and then we’ll be there.” Lily explained. “Let Remus show you.”

Remus walked towards Julie and Lily and hugged them gently.

“I’ll visit you guys tomorrow. Bye!” he then threw his powder and said “Flourish and Blotts!” and disappeared into green flames.
“See you soon Sirius.” Lily hugged Sirius goodbye.
“See ya kid.” Sirius said hugging Julie.

He walked into the fireplace and threw the flames saying “Potter Manor!” before disappearing. Lily took Julie’s hand and led her inside the fireplace and held on tight. Lily threw down the powder before saying, “St. Mungos” and they both disappeared leaving St. Elizabeths behind.

They appeared inside a new fireplace with Lily still holding onto Julie’s hand tightly. Lily led Julie out of the fireplace and inside the lobby of St. Mungos. Lily took Julie to the front desk.

“Hi. I’m Lily Evans and this is my daughter Julie. I made arrangements for a room for her.” Lily said.
“Oh of course. I’ll get Martin to take you there.” A woman said. “MARTIN!” the woman then bellowed.

A tall man with short blonde hair and blue eyes ran forward.

“Yes.” He said weakly.
“Please escort Miss Evans and her daughter to their permanent room.” The woman barked.
“Yes madam.” Martin replied before motioning for Lily and Julie to follow him.

They walked down the hallway until they reached room 165. It was a small room with one bed, a table for eating, dresser, refrigerator, lamp stand, lamp, chairs and more. The walls were white and floors were tile. It was a simple room with white sheets and white pillows.

Lily and Julie walked inside slowly and set the tiny suitcases on the table. Lily took out her wand and raised it over the suitcases and Julie watched as the suitcases grew to their original size.

“This is our new home Julie.” Lily said.
“Is this my room?” Julie asked.
“Yeah, this is your room and we get to decorate it any way we want.” Lily smiled.

Julie smiled and in turn walked over to her bed and sat down. Lily began to unpack Julie’s clothes into her dresser and then unpacked her things. Lily was going to sleep on a sofa bed in the corner of the room while Julie stayed on her bed.

Julie and Lily then took off their coats and hung them up by the door. They left the room and walked to the small tea room where they relaxed and thought to themselves.

“Where were you guys?” James asked as Remus and Sirius entered the house.
“Remus and I found some old friends from long ago and were catching up.” Sirius said.
“Must have had a lot to catch up on.” James said walking to the kitchen.
“You have no idea….” Remus said his voice drifting off.

~*~*~*~*~

“Is this the new home of Miss Julie Evans?” a voice asked.

Julie looked up from her bed and smiled. She jumped out of bed and ran towards Sirius. She hugged him tight and jumped into his arms.

“Hi Sirius!” she said smiling. She kissed his cheek and then got down.
“How are you kid?” Sirius asked.
“Im good. Im decorating my room.” Julie smiled.
“That’s cool. Where’s your mom?” Sirius asked.
“Getting breakfast.” Julie replied as she hung a picture on her wall.
“You want some help?” Sirius asked.
“I would love some.” Julie said and handed him some pictures.

Sirius looked at the pictures and noticed some of them were Julie with her mother and a lot of Julie with her friends from the hospital. There was a group shot of all the kids in the playroom and Julie was in the middle. Some were birthday pictures and old celebrations.

Sirius hung some and noticed Lily walk in with a tray of food.

“Ahh Sirius. Do you want anything?” Lily asked as she and Julie sat down at the table.
“You know me, I love food.” Sirius said.
“You are still the same about your desire for food? We’ll some things never change.” Lily laughed.

Julie smiled and handed Sirius an apple.

“It’s healthy.” Sirius said plainly.
“Yeah. Healthy things are good for you.” Julie said.
“Not for Sirius Black, when you get better. I’m going to teach you all the good unhealthy things.” Sirius said confidently.
“My daughter doesn’t need to be corrupted by Sirius Black.” Lily laughed.
“You’re very funny Lily.” Sirius replied.

Two hours later Julie was in her hospital gown and lying down in her bed as healers filed in to begin treatment on her. Sirius had left to go meet James for lunch and Remus was heading over in a couple of hours.

Lily was waiting outside as the healers began to do tests on Julie. In order to figure out what treatment was best for her, certain tests had to be done and the results would point them in the right direction. Lily sat outside for hours and just heard machines and waited for Remus to arrive.

Remus showed up two hours later running down the halls in panic.

“Lily, we have a problem.” He said gasping for air.

8: Daddy Dearest

“What’s going on Remus?” Lily asked carefully.
“James.” Remus panicked.
“Excuse me?” Lily asked.
“He’s an auror.” Remus said.
“Good for him.” Lily replied.
“As an auror, he has to check on aurors who were injured.” Remus explained.
“He’s coming here?” Lily asked frightened.
“Yes.” Remus said quickly.
“When?” Lily asked nervously.
“Next week.” Remus replied.
“Oh no.” Lily said.
“Oh no?” Remus asked
“He’s coming five days before Christmas.” Lily said.
“Meaning…?” Remus asked now confused.
“I was going to set up a little tree, leave presents, and have an actual Christmas with her. What if he finds her? It’ll mess things up.” Lily said panicking.
“I don’t think that would mess things up.” Remus said.
“How?” Lily asked angry.
“Because I think the number one thing Julie would want for Christmas would be to meet her daddy.” Remus said quietly.
“Don’t you think I know that?” Lily asked fiercely.
“Lily, just think about it. It would be really nice if we all could be together for Christmas.” Remus said softly.

The healers began to exit the room and Lily stood up and walked up to them.

“How is she?” Lily asked.
“We think chemotherapy will be enough for now. We are very lucky, she’s in the early stages. We might be able to defeat it.” One healer said.

Lily clutched her cheat and exhales in relief. She broke down into sobs and leaned against the wall for support. Remus hugged her tightly running his fingers through her hair.

“Julie’s going to be okay.” Remus said happily.

Lily began to laugh as she hugged her old friend and spinned around in the hallway. She entered the room and found Julie playing with a toy on her bed. Julie smiled and ran up to her. She then hugged her little girl tightly and kissed the top of Julie’s head.

“I love you Julie.” Lily said into Julie’s ear.
“I love you too.” Julie said in response.
“We are going to get you better.” Lily said quickly.

In response, Julie laid down in her bed and fell asleep.

Julie and Lily spent the next week decorating Julie’s room. One wall had the words ‘Good Memories’ and had all of Julie’s pictures underneath. The picture of all the kids was in the center surrounded by everyone else. The walls were painted light pink, and Julie picked out a heart design for her bed covers and pillows. Hanging were hung on the windows and picture frames were hung around the room.

Today Julie and Lily were decorating a small Christmas tree. It was short but fat. Lily was working on the lights while Julie was hanging the ornaments. Remus and Sirius were going to stop by later for dinner so they had to get this done. Christmas tunes were being played through the record player and occasionally they would dance around.

Julie had a check up in two hours to determine where she needed the chemotherapy. Lily finished off with the lights and turned to Julie.

“Julie. I’m going to go talk to someone about something. Can I trust you to stay here?” she asked.

Julie nodded in response and turned back to the ornaments. Lily left the room quickly and as soon as Lily was gone, Julie stopped working. She walked over to Lily’s dresser and opened it slowly. She looked carefully and then found it. Her mother’s photo album.

Julie always remembered watching her mother look through it at night and smile happily. Julie reached for it and took it out of the dresser. Julie walked over to her bed and sat down. She felt the cover of the album and opened it in anxiousness. She saw some pages with her mother and some friends. Then some with Remus and Sirius. And as she went on, she saw pictures of her mother with a man she never met. He had messy black hair, hazel eyes – just like hers, and wore glasses. Every photo they were always hugging lovingly. Then Julie found one of Lily and the man kissing.

Julie stared at the photo for a long time and let questions fill her mind. She took the photo out of the album, folded it up and hid it away. She put the album back and quickly began to hang ornaments again. Lily came back into the room smiling and helped Julie with the rest of the ornaments.

Afterwards, Lily took out her angel and handed it to Julie. Julie stood on a chair and placed it on top of the tree smiling. Lily then took a picture of Julie in front of the tree. Lily was going to make this the best Christmas yet.

Remus and Sirius arrived around six and walked in to find Julie looking at the tree. Sirius and Remus began to tip toe until they were right behind Julie. Sirius bent down and then whispered, “That is one pretty tree.”

Julie jumped and stood up. Sirius and Remus began to laugh as Julie smiled.

“Where’s Lily?” Sirius asked.
“She’s getting dinner.” Julie replied.
“Oh. We’re eating in here?” Remus asked.
“Yeah. Like the tree?” Julie asked.
“I love it. I love your room too. Very pinkish.” Remus said.
“I love pink. It’s my favorite color. “ Julie smiled.

Then Julie walked over to her hiding spot and took out the picture. She walked back to Remus and Sirius and gave them the picture.

“Who’s the man kissing my momma?” Julie asked.

Sirius and Remus stared at the picture. It was one of the last they took together before they broke up. They looked at each other not sure what to say.

“He’s my daddy isn’t he?’ Julie asked.
“He’s your dad.” Sirius nodded.
“Momma looked so happy, and so did the man. Why don’t I know him?” Julie asked sadly.
“Things happened Julie. But it wasn’t your fault. Things just didn’t work out.” Remus explained.

Julie put the picture away with her head down. But before she closed the drawer, she kissed her finger and placed it on the man. She smiled and closed the drawer. And at that moment, Lily walked in carrying a huge tray of food.

“Hello Remus, Sirius.” Lily said as she set down the food.
“Hello Lilykins.” Sirius responded hugging her.
“I always hated that nickname.” Lily laughed.
“Hey Lily.” Remus replied hugging her too.
“Well let’s eat.” Lily said and everyone began to eat.

James had just finished checking in on Mad Eye Moody. He just had to check on three more aurors and he could call it a day. He was wearing a blue cloak with blue jeans. He wore a white shirt and black boots.

As he walked down the halls he let his thoughts drift to Lily. He missed her so much, but he didn’t even know where she was. She’s gorgeous – she had to be married by now and have a family growing.

The more he thought about the idea of Lily having a family without him just made him more depressed. He remembered when they both were locked in one of these rooms because they were injured during a battle. They never left the others side in fear of them waking up and not to find the other waiting for them.

James continued walking until he heard Christmas carols playing in a room down the hall. James walked to the room and found the door wide open. A young girl was sitting in her bed looking at a photograph.

She had beautiful red hair that looked just like Lily’s and hazel eyes that reminded him of his own. Her hair was wrapped into a ponytail and she was wearing a Christmas sweater with a ‘J’ on it. Her blue jeans had little rhinestones on them. She was smiling at the photo and humming a tune.

James slowly walked inside for he was curious about the girl. He came up to her bedside and the girl looked up.

“Are you my healer?” the girl asked.
“Excuse me?” James asked confused.
“My mother said my healer was coming soon but you’re early.” The girl replied putting the photo away. “Where’s your equipment?”
“I’m not a healer little girl.” James said quickly.
“Than what are you doing here? Mother said I’m not supposed to let anyone in beside the people I know.” The girl said sharply.
“Sorry. I’ll leave, I just wanted to know why you were all alone.” James said turning around.
“I’m not allowed to let men in because my mom doesn’t want my father to find me.” The girl said softly.
“Your father?” James asked.
“Yea, my mother never told my dad I was born. She’s out waiting for our friends to arrive.” The girl said sadly.
“Who’s your mother?” James asked interested.
“She has the most beautiful red hair and green eyes. Her names Lily.” The girl said happily.

James seemed frozen with shock and watched as the girl continued to talk.

“You look familiar, like someone from a picture.” The young girl said before taking out her picture. “You look a lot like my father.”
“I do?” James asked nervously.
“Yeah.” The girl smiled. “My names Julie Evans.” The girl said then extending her hand.
“Im James Potter.” James said shaking Julie’s hand.

Laughter was heard down the hall and Julie rose from her bed.

“James, come on! You have to meet my mother and Sirius!” Julie exclaimed. She ran to the doorway and ran into Lily’s arms.

“Hey Julie.” Sirius said and then looked up. He saw James standing there very confused.

“Prongs? What are you doing here?” Sirius asked as his eyes popped out of his eye sockets.
“Momma. I think he’s my daddy.” Julie whispered to Lily.

Lily straightened up and looked at James with hard eyes. He smiled but she didn’t.

“Hello James.” She said with no emotion.
“Hiya Lily.” James said waving nervously.
“Meet your daughter, Julie Rose Evans.” Lily said sharply watching James become speechless.

Now what!? How will James react??

9: Explaining Everything

“You are my daddy!” Julie exclaimed and ran to James. She put her arms around his legs and hugged him tight. James stood frozen in shock as Julie hugged him.

Lily looked furious right now and you could tell by her face. Sirius was just standing there and then the healer walked in.

“Ah Miss Evans and Miss Evans, I need everyone to leave except for young Miss Evans.” The healer announced.
“Of course, Julie come here.” Lily said.

Julie let go of James and ran towards her mother.

“Be good, do exactly what the healer says, I love you.” Lily said kissing her girl.
“I love you too.” Julie replied softly.
“We’ll eat dinner after.” Lily said before she left the room.
“Miss Julie.” The healer said holding up Julie’s hospital gown.
“Bye Sirius! Bye daddy!” Julie waved before taking her gown and leaving to change.

Lily led Sirius and James to the cafeteria and sat down. She put her chin on her hands and mumbled to herself. James stared at her long and hard and Sirius was eating pudding.

“All these years, you never contacted me. She’s my daughter Lily.” James said.
“She doesn’t deserve to be your daughter.” Lily said angrily.
“Why would you say that?” James asked.
“Because I was in fact going to tell you that I was pregnant the night I found you punishing Dana in a broom cupboard. Didn’t you think there was a larger reason for why I snapped at you?” Lily asked frustrated.
“Of course but you always had a wild temper. I wanted to talk things out but you stayed away from me.” James snarled.
“Well, I just got pregnant with the man I was in love with and found him cheating on me. Of course I was going to stay away.” Lily said.
“You know what. I’m going to go wait outside Julie’s room for Remus.” Sirius said standing up and leaving.
“You could have told me. We could have worked things out.” James said.
“The fact that you cheated on me tore me apart.” Lily said upset.
“I am so sorry Lily.” James said trying to hold her hands.
“We need to set up a schedule for when you can visit her. Visiting hours are from 10 am to 10 pm.” Lily said.
“Wait, Julie lives here?” James asked quickly.
“That’s why her room is decorated.” Lily responded.
“What does she have?” James asked in concern.
“Leukemia.” Lily said quietly looking at the table.
“What is it?” James asked.
“It’s a really bad disease. Many children have died from it.” Lily said still looking at the table.
“When did you find out?” James asked.
“Three months ago.” Lily said. “I was walking down to the playroom to get her, and she wasn’t there. I ran all over the hospital and found her on the ground. She looked like she was dead.” Lily said and began to sob.
“The healers looked her over and found cancer cells. We came here for better treatment.” Lily said trying to be strong.
“That’s why you came, for Julie.” James said.
“Yeah. But she always asked me about her dad after she got sick. It’s like she feels she has to learn everything in case she doesn’t make it.” Lily said sighing softly.
“That’s horrible.” James replied.
“So. You can’t visit from four to five because she has treatment, Julie and I eat together from five to six. Then at seven she’s free till nine when she has to be given her medicine.“ Lily said.
“Wow. She’s a busy kid. How old is she?” James asked.
“Two. She was born on February 28th.” Lily said.
“What does your family think?” James asked.
“I haven’t spoken to them in three years.” Lily replied shortly.
“Oh, are you going to speak to them?” James asked.
“If I have time.” Lily responded.
“If there is anything I could do to make this up to you.” James said.
“There’s nothing James. Julie is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love her so much. Every time I see her smile I realize that all of my stupid mistakes were for good reason.” Lily said.
“Well then, when can I be with her?” James asked angrily.
“Eleven to two, three days during the week, one day on the weekend. You can visit on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. You are welcome to spend Christmas with us.” Lily said standing up.
“Lily, I am sorry about everything. What I did years ago. I was stupid and foolish. You know what that was like.” James said.
“I agreed to go out with you when you had grown up. Cheating on me was not a grown up thing of you to do.” Lily said upset.
“Not everyone can be as perfect as you Lily.” James said.
“I never said you had to be perfect, I just expected you to stay faithful to me.” Lily said.
“Let me prove it to you. Give me another chance. Lily will you go out with me on Sunday?” James asked.
“No, you had your chance. I have to be there for Julie now.” Lily said before walking off.

Lily showed up outside Julie’s room to find Remus and Sirius talking. Lily walked up to them and gave Remus a hug.

“How did it go?” Remus asked.
“He had the nerve to ask me out again.” Lily said upset.
“He never stopped loving you.” Sirius mumbled.
“I don’t think he ever loved me.” Lily argued.
“Oh but he does.” Sirius replied.
“When he proves it, I’ll believe it.” Lily said simply before walking into the room.

“What did you say to tick her off?” Remus asked as he sat down next to James.
“I asked her out. That always did the trick.” James said failing to laugh at his own joke.
“James, you can’t do this to her. She has too much to worry about.” Remus said.
“I want her back, that’s all I want.” James said to himself.
“But she doesn’t want you. “ Remus said.
“I’ll change her mind. I did it once, I’ll do it again.” James replied.
“Yeah, Good luck with that.” Remus said as James left the room.

9: Christmas Cheer

Christmas Eve arrived and everyone was smiling. Lily decided to push away her worries and anger to make Christmas special for Julie. James accepted Lily’s invitation to join them for Christmas as Sirius and Remus were going too as well.

It was after dinner and Julie was wearing a green sweater with a knitted Santa Claus on it. She was wearing black slacks and her favorite black shoes. Julie wore her hair down and came down to her shoulders. She was smiling brightly as she gazed up at the small tree.

James was reading her ‘The Night Before Christmas’ to Julie while Lily checked on Julie’s medication. He was sitting in a chair as he read softly and Remus and Sirius were hanging popcorn on the tree. Julie turned to face her dad and watched him read and add his style to the book.

Julie got up and walked over to him. She put her hands on his knees and pushed down gently rising herself off the floor and into the chair. She readjusted herself in his lap and put her hands on his. James gently pushed the book down so Julie could see the pictures. She laid her head on his chest and relaxed. She yawned and continued to listen to the story.

By the time the story finished Julie had fallen asleep. James picked Julie up and cradled her in his arms. Remus and Sirius walked over and gently kissed her forehead before James placed her in her bed. He pulled the covers up to her chin.

James, Remus and Sirius began to leave when they saw Lily coming down the hallway. James stopped Lily before entering and looked at her.

“She fell asleep and I put her to bed.” James said in all honesty.
“Thank you James.” Lily said.
“Lily, can we talk?” James asked.
“With or without the entourage?” Lily laughed.
“Fine, we’ll leave.” Sirius mumbled walking away with his head down in shame.
“Im kidding. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Lily said hugging Sirius and Remus in turn before they left.
“What’s going on?”Lily asked.
“I wanted to apologize for everything a couple of nights ago. You are right, we had our time. Now we need to work together for Julie.” James said.
“I can do that. But promise me something.” Lily said.
“Anything.”
“Promise me that you won’t make me fall in love with you again.” Lily responded.

James answered her question in a soft tone. He then kissed her cheek and left her to her own thoughts.

“Merry Christmas Julie!” Lily said softly into Julie’s ear.
“Merry Christmas Momma.” Julie responded waking up.
“Santa left you wonderful things.” Lily whispered.

Julie shot up out of bed and her eyes searched for the tree and locked on it. Underneath were enough presents to fill a quarter of the room. Julie got out of bed, slipped on her slippers and sat down next to the tree. She looked up at Lily and quickly said, “Can I open them now?”

“Let’s wait for everyone to get here.” Lily said kissing her girls cheek.

Julie got dressed and ate breakfast quickly. She had treatment at eleven to one and then the rest of the day she was spending with everyone else. Julie sat happily in her bed wearing her hospital gown as her healer, Melinda, walked in.

“Merry Christmas Julie.” Melina said.
“Merry Christmas.” Julie responded.
“Okay, were going to keep it short today. A quick scan and medicine dosage.” Melinda said before they got to work.

By 1:15 Julie was sitting back in her room, in her regular clothes waiting for Sirius, Remus and James to show up. Lily was wrapping up some gifts for the boys when they walked in.

“No peeking.” Lily said waving her finger.
“Why would I peek?” Sirius asked.
“Many reasons” Remus mumbled and Julie laughed.

“Merry Christmas Julie.” Sirius said sitting down on the floor next to her.
“Hi Siri!” Julie screamed.
“Happy Christmas Julie!” Remus said entering with a gift.
“Happy Christmas Remus.” Julie said.
“Hi daddy!” Julie said getting up and hugging James as he entered.
“Hey little girl.” James said kidding her forehead.

“Okay Julie. Go ahead and open the first gift.” Lily said.

And that was how it began. Julie opened up to find sweaters, books, clothes, toys, hats, room decorations and more. She spent two hours opening gifts before everyone else opened their gifts. Sirius got candy, clothes, and a … leash with matching collar.

Remus got mostly books and some interesting potions while James got all his Quidditch stuff. Then Julie handed out her pictures of her with everyone to everyone. Sirius smiled wildly and then heard the ringing in his ear, “Daddy! Help me!”

But before everyone left for dinner; James, Sirius and Remus stood up.

“Lily, Julie. This is our gift to you. We haven’t seen Lily in two years and now there is a new member to the family. Living in a hospital can be depressing and difficult. We are all like family, and families live together. If you guys want; we would love for you guys to move in with us. I’ll pay for home treatment if it means keeping family together.” James said.
“It would be seventh year Hogwarts all over Lilykins!” Sirius exclaimed.
“Oh Sirius.” Remus mumbled shaking his head.
“This isn’t some plot to re-create what happened between James and I in seventh year, right?” Lily asked.
“Of course not.” Sirius said with his eyes dancing like fire.
“So, will you move in with us?”

10: Fighting Figures

“I’ll think about it.” Lily said.
“But momma.” Julie began.
“I said I’ll think about it Julie. Now, Remus; Sirius, if you will take Julie to the cafeteria. I need a moment with James.” Lily said giving the boys hard eyes.
“Oh right. Come on Julie.” Remus said taking Julies hand and grabbing Sirius’ shirt and leading them out.

Once they were gone Lily walked up to James and hit him on the head. He reached for his head as he yelped and Lily began to smile.

“What was that for?” James asked in pain.
“You asked me to come live with you – in front of Julie!” Lily said upset.
“Yeah, I think it would be a good idea if you guys lived with us.” James said.
“But if I say no then Im going to look like the bad guy.” Lily explained.
“Then you could move in with us.” James replied.
“I can’t just move in with you, forget about everything we’ve had and move on.” Lily said sounding frustrated.
“Then don’t.” James replied.
“Excuse me?” Lily asked.
“Don’t forget about everything we had. Because I still believe we have something! And you are refusing to see it!” James said getting upset.
“There is nothing left between you and me! You can believe what you want – but I know that things would have never worked out! How would you expect everyone to live together – we’re fighting right now!” Lily screamed out loud shaking her hands.
“If you would agree to go out with me then we wouldn’t be fighting!” James exclaimed.
“I thought this was about Julie and I moving in so things was easier on Julie!” Lily screamed.
“It is!”
“No its not! You just said that you want me to go out with you again!” Lily said confused.
“No! I don’t want to go out with you! Forget it!” James said.
“I will not forget it! This is so complicated – see this is why our lives have been good without each other! We don’t have to deal with each other’s complication!” Lily screamed.
“Then what are we going to do Lily? You always have the answers!” James screamed in fury.
“Yeah! I have an answer! You need to stay away from me! If you visit Julie – I will be out! We need space! So you leave now!” Lily screamed.
“Fine! Im out of here Evans!” James screamed before leaving the room.

Lily ran her fingers through her hair before she let her head fall and her fingers dangle as if they were dead. She sat down on the floor and crossed her legs into a pretzel style. She began to sob and cried until she realized her daughter and the boys were still in the cafeteria waiting for her.

Lily stood up and left the room as she wiped her eyes. She found them sitting at a table as Remus and Sirius was talking to Julie. Lily got herself some food and met them at the table.

“Where’s daddy?” Julie asked.
“He had to back to his house.” Lily said shortly.
“Are you guys going to move in?” Remus asked.
“I don’t know. I have to think about it.” Lily said before she began to eat.

The next couple of days were hard. James didn’t come to visit and Lily was quieter. Remus and Sirius would switch ever day when to visit and kept telling Lily how miserable James was.

When Lily had to hide her pregnancy, she learned a lot on keeping things to herself. And she was doing it again. She kept talking to Julie and keeping her on the right treatments, but began to take some pills for depressants.

As the weeks went on things got worse, as in Julie’s treatment. Julie wasn’t getting better and was beginning to lose weight. Soon the healers decided to begin more advance treatments of chemotherapy. With more treatment meant more hours in the hospital gown for Julie.

Slowly a little improvement was made, more was lost. And soon, no progress was made at all. Lily was taking depressants every day and Julie had now lost a quarter of her weight.

Every day was getting worse and on top of that James and Lily still hadn’t spoken. It was now the middle of January and as the win fell more bad news was brought to the pair.

Snow was falling gently and the windows were fogged up. Julie was sleeping and her hair was much shorter. She was skinner and her arms and legs were thinner. She had her first bone marrow transplant a week ago and the results were coming in today.

Lily was sitting outside on a bench with her chin in her hands. Her elbows were resting on her legs and she was slouched over. Her hair was in a messy ponytail and hung over her right shoulder. Her blue jeans were fading and her t-shirt was a little tight.

With Lily paying for the transplants, they were now going into poverty. Lily was constantly working in different areas to have enough money to pay for everything. She knew she needed James’ help but she couldn’t go back now. Just then the healer arrived carrying a file.

“Well. She’s responding to it for right now, but it won’t end the cancer. She is going to need a lot more. The other healers believe it won’t be enough. We predict that she is eventually going to stop responding to the treatment.” The healer said.
“When?” Lily asked.
“I don’t know. But she will be out till tomorrow morning, so if you want to go make some errands.” The healer suggested.
“Yes I do actually. I need to visit someone.” Lily said and got her coat.

She left quickly before she closed her eyes and thought back to when she visited the large white mansion over summer break of sixth year.

11: Moving

Lily stood in the entranceway of Potter Manor rethinking the whole situation. James had offered to pay for private treatment and Lily couldn’t pay for everything. James was offering to have them live with them and then Lily would not have to pay for the expense of the room. She could get an actual job and bring in more money. Or she could keep living in the hospital with Julie until she went into debt. She didn’t have a choice.

She walked up to the door and knocked loudly before stepping back. She was shivering and rubbing her arms with her hands. Lily waited until a small click was heard and the door swung open.

James was standing there in pajama bottoms and a white t-shirt on. He leaned against the door frame with a smirk on his face as he saw Lily standing there.

“So, When’s our date?” he asked smiling.
“This is serious James Potter.” Lily said shivering.

The smirk wiped off James’ face. He stood up straight and looked at her.

“What’s going on?” James asked seriously.
“May I please come inside?” Lily asked avoiding the question.
“Oh yes, Come in, come in.” James said moving out of the doorway.

Lily quickly walked inside and found her way to the living room. She sat down and laid her head back. Her hair still was in the messy ponytail from before and her clothes were now dirtier. James sat down on the other couch and looked at her dead on.

“What’s wrong?” James asked.
“Julie may not respond to her treatments.” Lily whispered.
“Is she responding now?” James asked.
“Yeah she’s okay for now. She might stop though. She’s so young, a weak immune system and now this on top of everything.” Lily explained.
“Lily, my offer is still open. You both may come live with us. I’ll pay for treatment, research for new treatments. Anything to keep her healthy until I can find a cure. She’s my daughter and I love her. And I’ve only known her for a few days; please let me have the time to be with her.” James said pleading.
“James. We will move in for the fact that Julie deserves to be with her father.” Lily lied.

She couldn’t just tell him that she was close to broke. If she did, she would have to go visit her parents, explain her pregnancy and then be disowned by her family. Lily couldn’t do that – so she lied.

“When will you guys move on?” James asked carefully.
“As soon as we can.” Lily responded.
“I’m really glad both of you are going to live with us.”
“James, Im going to ask you one more time. Promise me that you won’t make me fall in love with you again.” Lily said fiercely.
“I can’t promise you that Lily Evans. I love you – I always have and I always will. When you broke up with me, I couldn’t look at anyone. Everyone knew that I, James Potter, had cheated on the perfect, most amazing, beautiful and smartest girl in Hogwarts. They talked about you Lily. They talked about how I betrayed you. I couldn’t stand it. It hurt so much, you are everything to me. Sirius, Remus and Peter spent months trying to get me to have a life.” James said as a small tear rolled down his cheek.
“The day you broke my heart, you handed me the chance, to make a brand new start. You helped me find my way. There’s still so much to learn, so many dreams to earn but even if I crash and burn ten times a day, I think Im here to say – Im gonna find my way. I loved you James, I can’t do that again.” Lily said honestly.
“I’ve changed your mind once – I can do it again.” James said before he got up and left the room.

Two days later Julie was packing up her things – or throwing her things into a suitcase. She had recovered from her bone marrow transplant and was getting ready to move in to James’. Lily was packed last night and now making sure every file was being kept in the right spot.

Lily was going back to work at St. Mungos as a healer. She was also going to just her salary to pay for extra classes on cancer so she can be prepared if anything was to happen to Julie. For some more extra money, she was going to teach a class for students fresh out of school for medical training.

Lily felt free, for the first time Julie could be at home learning than in a hospital. James was working in the morning then coming home around three, Remus was to work from one to seven and Sirius was working from eight till two and then from four till seven. Julie would continue her learning and some very basic magic.

Lily walked back into the room to see Julie’s room a mess. All the pictures were on the floor, her bed was messy and clothes were everywhere. She ran inside and saw Julie freeze.

“Julie! What are you doing? We have to leave – come on help me please.” Lily said impatiently.
“Yes mother. I’m just so excited.” Julie said as she began to pick up photos.
“I can have a huge room decorated anyway I want. You get your own room too. And I can visit Sirius, Remus and Daddy whenever I want. Then you and daddy will fall in love, get married and I’ll get to wear a pretty dress as the flower girl!” Julie exclaimed as she continued to pack away the pictures.
“Whoa whoa Julie. James and I are not going to fall in love and get married.” Lily said stopping.
“But momma. He loved you and you love him too – I know you do!” Julie said looking at her mother.
“I do not love your father.” Lily said.
“But he loves you and you could learn to love him again.” Julie said upset.
“I don’t want to love him.” Lily explained as she closed up the suitcase.
“But you won’t love him for me?” Julie asked sadly.

“Julie. Don’t open your eyes.” James said as he lifted her onto his shoulders. Julie closed her eyes and held onto her dads legs. She smiled and kept her eyes shut but smiled even after her fight with Lily.
“Are we almost there daddy?” Julie asked laughing.
“Almost.” James responded.

Lily was walking behind them laughing at the two of them. She had told Julie the truth and was glad that James was here to take pressure off their fight. She ran up to them and made drum roll sounds.

“Are we there yet?” Julie asked again.
“No.” James and Lily said together.

They looked at each other and smiled. Soon they were laughing hysterically before they reached the yard. James put Julie down and she felt the snow harden under her feet. She slowly opened her eyes to see the largest house she would probably see in her entire life.

The house was covering fifty acres of land. It was a cream color with white windows. There was a porch outside with chairs and tables. Snow was covering the entire house and had four levels. Julie began to smile as she hugged her father then mother and ran up to the house.

She began to play in the snow making snow angels, snowballs and throwing snow in the air. Lily smiled and turned towards James softly.

“Thank You.” She said softly before she gave him a soft hug.
“This means a lot to her.” Lily smiled.
“Well no problem. Julie’s really special.” James said.
“If I lose her I’ll have no one.” Lily whispered.
“Well. I’m sorry you feel that way.” James said as if he was stabbed in the gut.

They walked inside in silence and watched as Julie ran all over the house. She ran up to the third floor and ran down a hallway before she found what she was looking for. It was a room with light pink walls and a huge window that overlooked a garden. The bed was huge and had a canopy top. She walked inside and saw a trunk at the foot of her bed.

She sat down on the bed before she laid down. She closed her eyes and slowly fell asleep.

“Julie! Dinner time.” Sirius said rubbing Julie awake.
“How did you find me?” she asked confused.
“Oh I just looked in every room.” Sirius replied.
“Funny.” Julie said before she got up and walked downstairs with Sirius.

Everyone sat down together at dinner as James stood up and raised his glass.

“Julie and Lily are now officially moved in. Boys – we are no longer a family of three, but a family of five. Good luck to Lily’s new job and to Julie’s treatment. We are family and don’t let anyone tell you different. To family.” James finished as he clinked his glass with Sirius.

Everyone clinked glasses and began to eat the first meal they would have together for a long time…

Lily was leaving Julie’s room as Remus was reading her a bedtime story later and walked down the halls as she heard a guitar playing. She heard a man singing and playing and kept walking. She found herself outside a large room and could still hear the man playing.

Lily sighed and smiled. It sounded like the beginning of a nice song. It was like a rock song but a simple rock. Lily couldn’t help but think that the song was based on her and James’ past. She pushed the mysterious singer out of her mind and then left for bed.

Five minutes, the man walked out of the room and down the stairs to the first floor. He walked up to another man and handed over paper.

“Here, I hope it helps.”

12: Happy Birthday?

It was Julie’s birthday before they knew it. Lily was bringing in enough money that she was able to get Julie many gifts. Julie woke up on her birthday and looked out her large window. The garden was covered with a beautiful layer of crystal white snow.

Julie walked downstairs and found a large pile of gifts waiting in the living room. She began to smile as she ran over to them. She sat down and just gazed at them until she heard footsteps coming down the hall.

Julie stood up and turned toward the rooms entrance way. She saw James, Lily, Remus and Sirius walking into the room carrying a birthday cake with the words ‘Happy 3rd Birthday Julie’ across it. Julie began to smile as they began to sing.

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Julie, happy birthday to you.” They sang as they reached Julie.

“Make a wish sweetie.” Lily whispered to Julie.

Remus took out a camera and got it focused on Julie. She slowly whispered in her mind, ‘Let my daddy get his chance with momma.’ Before she gently blew out the candles.

Remus snapped a picture and then took many with everyone together. There was a James, Lily and Julie shot – James, Remus, Sirius and Julie shot – Remus, Sirius and Julie shot – Lily and Julie shot – and a huge group shot.

“Happy birthday sweetie.” Lily said giving Julie a kiss.
“Thank you momma. I love you.” Julie replied
“Happy birthday doll face.” Sirius said hugging Julie.
“Thanks Siri.”Julie responded.
“Happy birthday sport.” Remus said giving Julie a kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you Remus.” Julie said.
“Happy birthday Julie.” James said finally giving her a hug.
“Thank you daddy. I love you.” Julie said before she gave James a kiss on his cheek.

The rest of the day Julie opened her gifts. She got a new photo album, clothes, new shoes, toys, coloring books, crayons, and books. Lily received new clothes, three drawings by Julie, new books and a sketch book. James received some Quidditch equipment, clothes and more. Sirius got about the same as James as did Remus except instead of Quidditch things, he got books.

That night they ate Julie’s favorite foods, homemade pizza made by Lily. James made some chicken while Remus created some sides. Sirius kept Julie entertained for two reasons – he was scared of the oven and…no one trusted him around an oven. For good reasons.

After dinner, Lily led Julie upstairs to her bedroom. She put some of Julie’s presents away as Julie got changed. When Julie was tucked into bed she sat up. Lily fed Julie her medications. Afterwards, Julie laid back down and began to breathe softly.

“Momma.” Julie whispered.
“Yes?” Lily asked.
“I love you.” Julie said before she began to get stiff.
“Julie?” Lily asked.
“Julie?” Lily asked a little louder.
“Julie?” Lily said shaking Julie.

She didn’t move.

13: It Spreads

“JULIE!” Lily screamed.

Remus ran into the room to find Lily screaming and shaking Julie. He ran to Julie’s side and felt for a pulse. It was feint. Remus picked Julie up and ran from the room followed by Lily.

“JAMES! SIRIUS! SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH JULIE!” Lily screamed.

James and Sirius came tumbling down the stairways in their pajamas. James and Sirius stopped all so suddenly when they saw Julie’s pale face. Her face was chalk-white and her eyes were closed tight. Her arms were dangling as if they were dead and she looked weak.

“Lily and Remus take Julie to St. Mungos. Sirius and I will get a pack of clothes for everyone. We’ll meet you there.” James said.

Everyone nodded in agreement and then Julie disappeared with Remus and Lily. James and Sirius quickly got dressed and grabbed four bags. A bag for James, Sirius, Remus and a bag for Lily and Julie.

Sirius ran to Lily’s room while James ran to get Remus some clothes. Sirius walked into the room and put down the bag. He walked over to Lily’s dresser and got her a t-shirt and jeans. He opened up her underwear drawer and stared.

James walked in and found Sirius still standing there minutes later before he quickly grabbed a bra, underwear and socks before he hit Sirius on the head.

“We don’t have time for this. Julie could be dead.” James said as he packed up Julie’s stuff, where James had gone after he set up Remus’ bag, into Lily’s bag.
“Sorry but I couldn’t resist. You got to see what she wears but I never had.” Sirius said walking to James.
“Well it doesn’t matter. You need to grow up Sirius. Julie is really sick and could be dead right now. But you’re staring at her mothers’ lingerie.” James said upset.
“You really love them don’t you?” Sirius asked looking James in the eye.
“I’ve always loved Lily. I’ve only known Julie for a few months but I love her as if I knew her my entire life. And I’m not going to take any chances at letting her slip between my fingers.” James said not ever blinking.
“Strong words Prongs. Strong words.” Sirius replied.
“Come on, let’s go.” James said before the two dashed down the hall to the fireplace.

Meanwhile as James and Sirius prepared the bags, Julie was rushed onto a stretched where she was sent to en emergency room. Lily was running with the healers before she was stopped at the entrance of the room.

“We can’t let you in.” a man said.
“And why not?” Lily asked crossing her arms.
“We can’t let anyone go in – whatever she has might spread.” The healer replied.
“But I’m her mother – and she has cancer. Cancer can’t spread in a room.” Lily fought back.
“I’m not allowed to let anyone in madam.” The healer responded before walking in where Julie was already being scanned.

Lily walked in defeat to Remus who was sitting on a bench in the lobby. Lily sat down next to him and began to cry. She sobbed at first before she began to break down. Waterfalls of tears were falling down her cheeks as Remus gently put an arm around her.

Lily looked up at him and saw he too was tearing. She gave him a hug and they cried together. James and Sirius entered the hospital to find them crying. They ran over to them and quickly dropped the bags.

“Is she okay?” James asked fearfully.
“We don’t know.” Remus said as Lily continued to sob.

The four of them eventually fell asleep on benches with their eyes blood-shot red from crying. Lily’s makeup was all smeared and looked weak but James looked as if he had been shot. He had puffy eyes as if he was trying not to cry. He looked much older and wore a frown. His hair was all tossled and he was slouched over in depression.

It was ten o’clock the next morning before a healer asked for them. Lily walked forward and stood tall.

“The cancer has begun to spread to other parts of her body. We can’t stop it now.” The healer said.
“Is there anything you can do?” Lily asked.
“Continue the treatments. But as we warned you, most likely the treatment will stop working on her body because of her age and development.” The healer responded.
“Has she woken up yet?” Lily asked.
“She’s in a coma right now. She won’t wake up until we are ready to help her.” The healer replied quickly.
“And after she stops responding to treatment, then what do I do?” Lily asked.
“Pray Miss Evans. It’s all you will be able to do.” The healer said before Lily collapsed into tears once again.

So she's not dead. Yay!!! Shes just really really really sick!! I feel sick but I still posted. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks of one-a-day posts!! Yay!!

Oh and I got to see my friend at a party today and we spent 15 mins hugging and crying. :'( It was so sad. But I was so glad I got to see her. She's doing really well

14: Stand

The days began to pass ever so slowly. Only one visitor was allowed in the room at once. Lily would be in the room from ten to twelve, then Remus from twelve to one, Sirius from one to three and lastly James from three to five.

The healers were doing everything they could to come up with a stronger treatment for Julie. So far they couldn’t come up with anything. They sent reports to the manor every week – the letters just added to the depression among the four of them.

A week passed before there was a knock on the door. Lily answered it before she noticed who it was. He certainly looked older. His beard was now down to his shoulders and it had gone all white. He was the same height that Lily remembered but he looked weaker. Lily was in shock that she was seeing him again. But, none the less, Albus Dumbledore was standing in the doorway.

“Miss Evans, it has been far too long. May I come in?” he asked.
“Of course professor.” Lily replied getting out of the doorway.
“It is quite a shock to see you living here with Mr. Potter, Mr. Black and Mr. Lupin. Tell me, why are you living here?”
“James invited us and I agreed for Julie’s sake.”
“Julie Evans. She is quite a pretty thing.”
“How do you know Julie?”
“I have known about Julie since she was born. I’ve known about her first collapse to her cancer. And now she is in a coma. Three years old born on February 28th. Red hair and hazel eyes. People call her a little saint. Daughter of Lily Evans and James Potter. Anything else I should know?”
“You are good sir. Have you seen her?”
“I might have once or twice while you were out. Like fighting with Mr. Potter. Some things never change. Speaking of, where is Mr. Potter?”
“Oh. He’s visiting Julie right now.”
“Anyone else home?”
“I think Sirius and Remus.”
“Please get them.”

Lily walked over to the stairs and walked up them quickly as Dumbledore got himself settled in the living room. She walked into Sirius’ room and found him – asleep. She walked over to his bed and shook him.

“Hiya Monica. Enjoy last night?” Sirius asked as he slowly opened his eyes.
“It’s Lily you dimwit. Who’s Monica?” Lily said sending dagger eyes.
“Um…No one. What are you doing anyway?” Sirius asked.
“Dumbledore is downstairs and wants you. Get up!” Lily said before pushing him off his bed and exiting.

Lily then walked down the hall and into Remus’ room. Remus was at his desk going looking through books and writing things down. Ever since Julie went into the coma Remus would look through every book he owned trying to come up with something. Lily walked over to him and gave him a sweet, tender hug.

“Remus. Stop working. Dumbledore is downstairs and wants to talk to you.” Lily said.
“I’ll be down in a minute – Im on the verge to a breakthrough.” Remus said.
“You say that all the time. Come on.” Lily said dragging him from the desk.

Lily and Remus came downstairs and saw Sirius looking for food. Figures. They all sat down on the couch at the exact moment James walked in.

“Professor Dumbledore.” James said shocked.
“Please sit down James.” Dumbledore said.

James sat down next to Lily and waited for him to begin.

“As you now Lord Voldemort is getting more powerful. All of you were affected by him in some shape or form. Im creating a secret organization to put an end to him. It’s called The Order of the Phoenix. I am inviting you for to be members of this society. If you accept, it will be dangerous. Putting lives at stake, your own life and your families.” Dumbledore explained.
“I’m in.” Remus said at once.
“Me too.” James replied.
“What about Julie?” Lily asked.
“We can figure something out to keep her safe.” Dumbledore replied.
“Then Im in.” Lily said.
“Sirius?” Dumbledore asked.
“You know what Voldemort did to me last time.” Sirius said.
“This is why I’m asking you to join us, to fight.” Dumbledore replied.
“He killed my wife and twins.” Sirius said his voice shaking. “I’ll do it. For Monica and the twins.”
“You will receive a feather – it will be a portkey. Wait for one; it will take you to the meeting.” Dumbledore said standing up.
“Professor!” Lily said as she ran up to him.
“You can call me Albus, Lily.” Dumbledore said.

Lily just hugged him tightly and Dumbledore hugged her back.

“Thank you. I never got to thank you enough for everything you did for me in school.” Lily said.
“Don’t worry Lily. Julie is a strong little girl. She will get better.” Dumbledore said before he pushed Lily away gently and left the house.

“Hey Lily.” James said as he entered the kitchen.
“Hello James.” Lily said sadly.
“Dumbledore’s right you know. Julie will get better. I saw her fighting to come out of the come today.” James said.
“I just want my little girl to be healthy.” Lily said.

James looked at her and sighed. She was everything he always wanted. She needed to get away from her depression.

“Lily. You need a break. Let’s go out for dinner.” James offered.
“On a date?” Lily asked looking up.
“No. As two adults going out to dinner.” James said wisely.

Lily laughed for a moment before she saw James’ smiling face.

“What about the other two?” Lily asked.
“They’re working late. I already told them we were going to dinner.” James said.
“So I don’t have a choice, now do I?” Lily asked laughing.
“Nope.” James smiled.
“Is the restaurant fancy?” Lily asked.
“Semi. You might want to dress nice.” James replied.
“Well then let me get dressed.” Lily responded before walking up the stairs.

The moment she was out of sight James pumped a fist into the air shouting “YES!” loudly. He smiled for a minute and ran to get ready himself. He ran to his room and grabbed a mirror.

“Sirius.” James called.
“Hello Prongs.” Sirius replied.
“It worked.”
“Knew it would.”
“Don’t mess it up James.” said Remus’ voice.
“I know.” James said
“She has enough right now, don’t add to her upsetness. I want her happy. Not ****ed.” Remus said.
“Okay. I got it mother. I have to go get changed.” James said.
“See ya boy.” Sirius called before James put the mirror down.

James put on some black slacks and a white long sleeve shirt. He tried to flatten his hair but ended up just messing it up. He put on black shoes and walked downstairs. Lily came down minutes later with a simple black dress on that went down to her knees. She wore black heels and her hair was lying down around her shoulders.

“My my my Miss Evans. You look absolutely stunning. Trying to drive me crazy or something?” James said flirtatiously.
“And you look quite sharp. And I’m not trying to drive you crazy – Im succeeding.” Lily replied sweetly.
“Well then, let’s be off.” James said before taking her hand and feeling the same warmth he felt years ago and disappeared into the darkness.

They reappeared outside a fancy restaurant called, ‘The Charm’. They walked inside and waited to be seated. They were seated near a window with a table for two. It had a single rose in a vase in the center of the table with a candle. James and Lily sat down before they ordered their food.

“This is quite elegant James.” Lily said in amazement.
“Why thank you. I’m glad that I still can pick out nice restaurants.” James replied.

James lit the candle with his wand and smiled as Lily smiled softly.

“It’s really beautiful here James.” Lily said sighing.
“Aw come on Lily. You know that you are much more beautiful than the restaurant.” James said.
“I beg to differ.” Lily said.
“Nope. You’re much more beautiful.” James replied.
“Tell me, what’s so beautiful about this mess?” Lily asked pointing to herself.
“Well. You have the most gorgeous hair I’ve ever seen. It reminds me of strawberries which are my favorite snack. Your eyes are the most exquisite emerald green eyes I’ve ever laid eyes on. They always seem to hypnotize me, they still do. Your face looks like it was carved by a goddess just to drive me nuts. You have the most beautiful figure ever and can drive me crazy with it. You’re sweet, kind, loveable, smart, caring and most importantly – you’re the mother of my daughter. No one is more beautiful than you.” James said softly staring her straight in the eyes.

Lily knew what was happening. She was falling for him once again. She just smiled before she stood up and offered her hand.

“Come on charming. Let’s see if your dancing matches your speech.” Lily said.

James stood up and took her hand and led her to the dance floor. Lily put her arms around James’ neck gently as James put his arms carefully around her waist. They began to dance softly as the song changed.

Lily laid her head softly on his chest and James began to smile as they got more comfortable.

More couples began to dance as James and Lily began to dance around not taking their eyes off one another. James knew it was working. She was falling for him again. Lily knew she was falling again too. And what she hated was that she knew, but she didn’t want to stop falling in love with him.

Lily kissed him back softly as they continued to dance until the end. Lily had fallen in love with James Potter again. Hallelujah.

15: After The Kiss

“Now what?” Lily asked as she settled herself on the couch in her pajamas later.
“What do you mean?” James asked as he sat down.
“What are we going to do?”Lily asked.
“So we’re a ‘we’?” James asked.
“That’s what Im asking about.” Lily stated.
“We’ll, I took you out to a lovely dinner, swept you away by my killer dance moves. I say you should agree to be my girlfriend again.” James said.
“Do you want me to be your girlfriend or am I just paying you back for dinner?” Lily asked amused.
“Well. Lily your lip action has improved. Didn’t practice on anyone while you were gone; did you?” James asked.
“No I didn’t. I haven’t dated since we broke up.” Lily replied quietly.
“Me either.” James said.
“I miss us being together. I felt so free.” Lily said.
“Then go out with me again.” James said.
“You haven’t asked me out though.” Lily said with a smile playing on her lips.
“Lily Evans. Will you be my girlfriend?” James asked as he got up and sat down next to her.
“Well I’ll have to think about it.” Lily said mysteriously.
“I doubt it.” James said before he began to passionately kiss her.

Lily began to kiss him back softly before he moved closer to her while deepening the kiss. Lily kept it going by forcing her tongue into his mouth. They stayed there snogging before James slid his hands into Lily’s hair softly. He ran his fingers through her hair as Lily put her hands on his chest.

Somehow the lights turned off and left the two of them alone in the dark before a door slowly opened. The lights flicked on and one voice rang through the house.

“WELL HELLO!” Sirius yelled.

James jumped off Lily whose head hit the back of the couch. James stood up messing his hair up while Lily sat up. James shot a look at Sirius who was smiling smugly.

“Hello Sirius. I was just going to bed. Goodnight James. Goodnight Sirius.” Lily said before she walked up the stairs swaying her hips.
“Okay is she doing that to drive me nuts?” Sirius asked as Lily disappeared upstairs.
“She’s trying to drive me nuts. Oh and by the way.” James said walking over to him before he hit Sirius on the head.
“Ow! What was that for?” Sirius asked.
“Ruining the best make out session I’ve ever had with her.” James replied before walking up to bed.

James was sleeping peacefully before he was shaken awake. He looked at the clock and saw it was 3 in the morning. He tried to go back to sleep but was knocked off the bed. He looked up to see Remus standing over him.

“Come on!” Remus whispered.
“What’s going on?” James asked.
“St. Mungos. They’ve been calling for hours.” Remus said.
“What do they want?” James asked.
“They brought Julie out of the coma.” Remus said.
“Wonderful.” James replied sitting up.
“She doesn’t remember who she is though.” Remus added.
“Just wonderful.” James muttered before getting dressed and leaving for St. Mungos with Remus.

16: Gone

“Julie?” Lily asked nervously as she leaned over the hospital bed carefully.

Julie looked up and glanced at the woman before her. She was wearing dark green sweats and a large coat. Her hair was blazing red and soft green eyes. The woman looked familiar…but she couldn’t think why.

“Excuse me madam, but who are you?” Julie asked.
“Oh dear.” Lily muttered.
“Who are you? What Am I doing here?” Julie demanded.
“Im Lily, your mother, you are sick. Julie – its mother.” Lily replied.
“Who is this Julie?” Julie asked.
“You.” Lily responded.
“Impossible. I’m – I’m – I’m…”
“Julie.”
“No I’m not Julie.”
“Who are you then?”
“I’m. I don’t know.”
“See. Your name is Julie Evans. You are three years old.”
“No I’m not. I don’t believe you.”
“Will you believe me if a doctor told you?”
“No.”
“Dear heavens Julie. Stop being like this.”
“Like what?” a different voice said from Julie.

Lily stepped back quickly. It was like Julie was possessed for a moment. Julie’s sweet, cheery voice had disappeared all together and was replaced by a loud raspy voice.

“Are you okay?” Lily asked frightened.
“My throat is just sore.” Julie replied.
“I’ll be right back Julie.” Lily said.
“My names not Julie.” The raspy voice responded.

Lily left the room and found a healer looking at Julie’s files. Lily approached the woman carefully before she stopped.

“Excuse me.” Lily said.
“Oh hello Miss Evans.” The healer responded.
“Do you know if you will be able to get Julie’s memory back?” Lily asked.
“I’m not sure. We believe she hasn’t lost her memory. We believe that it’s misplaced somehow.” The healer said.
“How can she misplace her memory?” Lily asked.


But the healer didn’t get to respond because Remus ran out of the room with a pale face.

“What’s wrong Remus?” Lily asked.
“I just went inside to check on her and…and…and…”Remus said.
“What?” Lily asked impatiently.
“She’s not there.” Remus finished.
“What do you mean?” Lily asked.

Lily ran into the room and found Julie – gone. No trace of her anywhere. All she found was one note and it read:

17: Trust

“Julie Evans.” A voice whispered.

Julie turned around quickly to face a man with a pale, cold face. His eyes were the darkest red she’d ever seen and he was tall. He had a weak figure but held his wand loosely as he stared at her.

“Who are you?” she asked.
“My name is Tom.” The man replied.
“Tom who?” Julie asked.
“Tom Riddle.” The man said.
“That’s a nice name.”
“Why thank you.”
“How do you know my name?”
“I know everyone’s name.”
“Are you Father Christmas or something?”
“Oh no. But I feel the need to know everyone.”
“Do you know my parents?”
“James Potter and Lily Evans. They are quite a pair. Very strong, opinionated, wise.”
“So where am I?”
“It’s a special place for people. I choose them randomly and let them spend some time here.”
“Is this a type of hospital?”
“Do you need a hospital?”
“I have cancer Tom.”
“So then a hospital it is.”
“If you say it’s a hospital, it’s a hospital?”
“Why of course. I can do magic like your parents can.”
“Sweet.”
“I’m going to take good care of you Julie.”
“Do my mom and dad know I’m here?”
“Yes they do. They set this up of course.”
“So, they trust you?”
“Why wouldn’t they trust me?”
“You seem a little odd and mysterious to be quite frank. No offense.”
“None taken. But you can trust me, your parents do – so why can’t you?”
“I guess I can.”
“So you trust me?”
“I trust you Tom.”
“So you believe me?”
“I believe you.
“Good…Believing and Trust is very wise.” Tom finished while he left the room silently getting his spies ready.

18: First Mission

“This is our first meeting and we already have business to attend too. Julie Evans is three years old and was taken by Voldemort today from the hospital to his headquarters. She’s sick at the moment and need to be rescued immediately.” Dumbledore announced in his large voice.

“Do we have any ideas on where headquarters is?” Frank Longbottom asked.
“We have very little leads. Some coming from spies.” Dumbledore replied.
“What are we to do?” another voice asked.
“Investigate and check the locations.” Dumbledore replied.
“Can we trust these spies?” Alice Longbottom asked.
“I say we can. They’ve seen Julie and know where she is and have been.” Dumbledore replied.
“Who is this trustworthy spy?” James shouted.
“Severus Snape at your service.” Severus said as he walked through the doorway and into the light.

Three days later everyone was sitting around the table waiting for Dumbledore to begin. Lily and James were standing grasping their hands together. Severus was getting less information as he was put onto more things.

“We have three teams to check three locations we know Voldemort has been. He could be anywhere still. The more clues we find the more we can determine where he is now.” Dumbledore announced.

“Team 1. James Potter, Frank Longbottom, Sirius Black and Alice Longbottom.”
“Team 2. Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Fabian and Gideon Prewitt.”
“Team 3. Molly Prewett, Emmelience Vance, Mary McKitton, and Arthur Weasley.” Dumbledore finished.

“You all have three days to inspect the area. Pick up as many things as you can. If you find any prisoner bring them back to Headquarters. Voldemort is sure to have some followers around the areas, please be careful.” Dumbledore said softly.

Everyone nodded before the teams took their portkeys and disappeared with a swivel of smoke. Severus came into the office after everyone was gone and sat down.

“How is she?” Dumbledore asked.
“Alright. He’s winding her up.” Severus replied.
“What does he want?”
“Them.”

“So Julie, how are you today?” Tom asked as he met Julie in her room.
“I’m okay Tom. How are you?” Julie asked politely.
“Im doing okay at the moment. I have someone for you to meet.”
“Who?”
“This is my friend Bellatrix. She’s very nice.”
“Hello Bellatrix.”
“Hello sweetheart. You look so much like your mother.” Bellatrix replied with a forced smile.
“Thank you.”
“So, today were going to play some games.” Bellatrix began as Voldemort left the room.
“What kind of games?”
“Fun games.”

Bellatrix walked forward and quickly grabbed Julie by the neck. She raised her till she was at her heads height and stared at her.

“Where are your parents?”

Julie, unable to breathe, didn’t responded but shrugged her shoulders quickly. Bellatrix threw Julie into the nearest wall and watched in satisfaction as the wall crumbled.

“Where are your parents?”
“I don’t know.” Julie said stuttering.
“Liar!”

Bellatrix kicked Julie hard until blood was oozing out her left side. She stood up and walked to the end of the room. She waved her wand and the room became dark and a cellar with bars.

“When you are ready to answer, the games shall end.” Bellatrix finished before walking away with a satisfied smile on her face.

*hides in bomb shelter*

19: Team One

James, Sirius, Frank and Alice were assigned to investigate an old orphanage. They arrived outside the old building and stared for a few moments. Slowly, James walked in followed by the other three. They walked down old hallways which were collapsing as the floor creaked. They made their way through old rooms and found nothing. Minus the complete mess, it looked like no one was ever there.

James walked up the stairways with Sirius while Frank and Alice went down to the cellar. The two of them entered a room and searched quietly. Then James saw something, a light pink ribbon. Julie was wearing it in her hair the day she went missing. James picked it up and slammed his fist down on an old dresser.

Sirius walked over to his best mate and noticed his friend was on the verge of tears. He took the ribbon from James who was now crying.

“She was here. It looks like for only a moment. But she was here.” James cried softly.
“That’s good. We know where she has been.” Sirius said. “We’ll find her.”
“What if we don’t? What if we don’t before she dies of her cancer? She can’t go so long without her medication.” James mumbled.
“We’ll find her – alive.” Sirius replied.
“I’m not going to stop till we do.”
“I don’t think anyone will.”
“She means so much to me. I want to bring her up right. Have my little princess again.”
“Come on Prongs, let’s go meet Frank and Alice and see if they found anything.”

20: Team Two

Lily, Remus, Peter, Fabian and Gideon were assigned to check out an old house. The grass and flowers were dead. The area looked unfriendly and as if no one had lived there for thirty years. Lily walked down a pathway and opened a rust covered gate to find a wooden doorway with a snakes remains nailed to the door.

“Why is there a snake nailed to the door?” Lily asked out loud.
“Looks like the house of a pureblood.” Remus said.
“It’s disturbing.” Fabian replied.
“I guess we should go in.” Gideon added.

They opened the door softly before it fell to the ground. Lily stepped over it and carefully looked inside. They made their way inside the house before the group split up. Lily and Peter went downstairs while Remus stayed on the main floor and Alice and Frank went upstairs.

Lily and Peter made it to the cellar and lit their wands. It was dark and cold down in the cellar. Lily then heard a muffled sob which belonged to someone she knew. Lily began to walk closer before she realized it was Julie crying.

She ran towards the noise but stopped when she noticed Peter disappeared. She heard her head collide with a bar before she fell the ground.

2 mins after midngith is still tonight

21: Team Three

Molly, Mary, Emmelience and Arthur were sent to another house. It didn’t look damaged for the most part, it looked old. They silently approached it while they took their wands out carefully as if someone was already inside. Arthur opened the door carefully and stepped inside.

Molly, Mary and Emmelience followed him inside before they stopped frozen. An echo was being heard from what looked like, the basement.

“Where are your parents!” the voice screamed and then heard something collide with something hard.
“I – do-do-don’t know!” another voice cried loudly.
“Liar!” the first voice screamed.
“Please stop throwing me into things.” The second voice sobbed.
“You can’t take it little girl? Well doesn’t that figure. Daughter of mudblood scum and a lover of mudblood filth!” the first voice screamed.
“Don’t say that!”
“Your parents don’t love you. They sent you here; they sent you to this torture hole! They are so happy that they don’t have to worry about little young sick Julie Evans!”

The four of them began to walk quickly to the nearest door. Molly opened it up a crack and saw Bellatrix Lestrange throwing Julie into walls. Or was it Julie? For she looked nothing like herself.

Julie was now as skinny as a tooth pick and could snap into two soon. Her beautiful red hair was almost gone due to the cancer. Her eyes were puffy red from crying and she was covered in blood. Her own blood. Julie’s clothes were torn to the max and her shoes were gone.

Molly and Arthur sent Emmelience and Mary outside to send messages for help. Molly and Arthur watched as Bellatrix walked away but Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy returned.

“You aren’t cooperating.” Lucius said.
“And you know what that means.” Narcissa added.
“Crucio!” Lucius screamed and Julie began to shake all on the floor.
“Wait my dear. I have a better spell.” Narcissa said stopping him. “SECTUMSEMPRA!”

Blood began to fly from Julie’s body and she became unconscious. Molly and Arthur immediately began to run down the stairs and shot spells at the death eaters.

“Stupefy!” Molly shot at Narcissa.
“Expelleramus!” Arthur shot at Lucius.

Narcissa fell to the ground silently as Lucius’ wand flew from his grip. More people began to run down the stairs as more Death Eaters emerged. Soon there was a full battle going on. James and Lily were trying to escape the many spells as they looked for Julie.

But at the moment, Voldemort was holding Julie hostage and using every curse possible. He had awakened Julie moment before and was now grasping her neck.

“Tell me child. Where are your parents?” Voldemort asked.
“We’re right her.” James said punching Voldemort in the nose.

Voldemort dropped Julie who was immediately smothered by Lily. Voldemort took out his wand as James did and began a duel.

“CRUICO!” Voldemort yelled.
“PROTEGO!” James yelled
“YOU ARE NO MATCH FOR ME POTTER!”
“THAT’S WHAT YOU THINK!”
“CRUCIO!”
“STUPEFY!”

As each spell was thrown it always missed its target. Lily picked Julie up and ran from the sight looking for the nearest portkey. She found Fabian and Gideon running from the battle as well.

“We’re going back to Headquarters for re-enforcements!” Fabian yelled.
“Take Julie with you!” Lily screamed.
“Is that her?” Gideon asked.
“Yes! She’s really hurt!” Lily said.
“She’s very adorable. Has James’ eyes.” Fabian said.
“Not now! Take Julie to Dumbledore, Ive got to help James!” Lily replied.

Lily then turned to her baby girl.

“Julie. Be good. They are going to help you.” Lily said.
“You did this to me. You hate me!” Julie screamed.

Lily kissed her girl again who had turned away before running back to James. She heard them leave but stopped as she saw Voldemort with his wand raised right at James’ chest.

“Join me, and everything you ever need will be in reach. Including your precious daughter’s health.” Voldemort whispered.
“Never.” James whispered.
“Find by me! AVADA KEDAVRA!” Voldemort screamed.
“NO JAMES!” Lily screamed as she watched a brave man plop to the ground.

“No. no no. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.” A voice sobbed.

So they found julie, but someones dead. Who? I hope you have read up on your Harry Potter. There IS a reason I used these people. So who's dead?

22: Tales of Death

“Today we mourn the death of a fine man. He was brave and wise. This man sacrificed himself for another who has a larger purpose. Today we mourn and the tomorrow we rise. To Fabian Prewett.” Dumbledore said raising his glass.

“To Fabian.” Everyone replied raising their glasses.

“And to those who held Fabian dear to their hearts, I am sorry for your loss. War is coming, and it is going to be brutal. We will lose more and more and this is just the beginning. Remember Fabian not as the man who threw himself at death. But the reason a father is alive and gave a young daughter hope.” Dumbledore replied softly.

Molly and Gideon looked up sadly and met his eyes. They were sitting next to each other as they slowly ate dinner.

It was Fabian. Fabian was the one who died.

~Flashback~

Lily kissed her girl again who had turned away before running back to James.

“Gideon! I’m going to help Lily!” Fabian shouted.
“Are you nuts?” Gideon screamed clutching the little girl.
“James is fighting Voldemort for Merlin’s sake!” Fabian yelled.
“I still think you’re nuts!” Gideon shouted.
“Take the kid! I’ll meet you back there!” Fabian exclaimed before running in the direction where Lily departed.

He continued running as he ducked the metal bar that fell from the roof. He stopped as Voldemort had his wand pointed at James.

“Never.” James whispered.

Fabian knew what was going to happen. And he couldn’t let it happen. James had a family to take care of. Making his decision, he leaped out and shoved James down just in time. He took the fall and smiled as Voldemort’s cruel red eyes turned into fire bits of anger.

He took one more breath and let himself go.

~Flashback~

The funeral for Fabian was the weekend after the fight. Molly and Gideon were a mess as they let go of their brother. Molly being the youngest of Fabian and Gideon was even worse. Now it was just Molly and Gideon.

James and Lily went for a little while but couldn’t stay long. As soon as Gideon brought Julie back to Headquarters, Dumbledore took her to Saint Mungos.

Julie was now a wreck. She was receiving several potions a day for her bones and blood; she was being fed by a feeding tube and couldn’t go to the bathroom by herself. Her hair was nearly gone due to the cancer and she looked like a Holocaust survivor.

James and Lily spent every day with Julie while she was sleeping and awake. Julie still didn’t know about them being together. The two of them figured that Julie can’t be asking questions right now, she needed to take care of herself.

The months began to pass as summer approached and Julie smiled a little more. She was now off the feeding tube and bathroom tube. She could walk around since all her bones were in order and her blood was fully purified. But Julie’s hair was now so short that it came down to the top of her ear. James and Lily was considering getting Julie a wig which looked just like her hair. They figured that if she looked more like herself, she might fight a little more.

So as they entered July, Sirius and Remus walked into Julie’s room as she was sleeping. Sirius put a finger to his lips as Remus took the wig out of the box. Remus handed the wig to Sirius who had Remus lift up Julie’s head. Sirius slipped the wig onto her head and moved it around so it fit perfectly. Remus lightly put Julie’s head down before they did the one thing they did best.

Picture Pranks.

Sirius took out the whipped cream and feather as Remus removed his camera. Sirius sprayed some whipped cream (“so the girl can eat it after”) into Julie’s hand. He gave Remus thumbs up who then got ready to take the picture. Sirius was just about to rub the feather on Julie’s nose when…

“Sirius Black, Remus Lupin. What are you two doing to my poor daughter?” Lily asked walking into the room with her hands on her hips.
“Nothing Lily dearest.” Sirius and Remus called sweetly.
“Then why, oh why, are you holding onto whipped cream, a feather and a camera?” Lily asked.
“Well. I was going to put it the feather on my head and then spray whipped cream into my mouth and have Remus take a picture. For my Christmas Card!” Sirius explained.
“It’s July, Sirius.” Lily smirked
“As you always say, you should always be prepared.” Sirius added.

Remus doubled over laughing at this point and watched as Lily raised one eyebrow. He stopped suddenly as Lily gave him an amused smirk.

“Well. The wig is here. James is expecting you in the Three Broomsticks. Do I need to tell him why you are late?” Lily asked.

“Of course not. Bye Lily.” Sirius called as he dragged Remus from the room before they began to sprint down the hallway.


Lily turned back to see Julie smiling. She was holding onto her wig and said softly, “I love it.”

Julie then closed her eyes again before her body began to move violently. Lily began to scream as healers ran into the room.

“She’s stopped responding to treatments.” A healer said later.
“Can you predict how long she has?” James asked holding a sobbing Lily.
“Two years the most. Im so sorry.” The healer concluded.

Lily hung her head in shame as James began to cry softly. Julie was going to die. And she might not even make it till age five.

a/n: Okay. I know you probably all hate me, but Ive been sick and holidays and stuff like that. So, heres a really small post due to the fact Ive been planning out huge chapters in my other fics.

So here it is:

23: Doing What She Must

Lily sat inside Julie’s room waiting for Julie’s new doctor to return with her latest examination results. Since Julie stopped responding to treatment, Julie was being forced to have an exam every day. Julie wore the wig all the time now and kept her scrapbook nearby. Julie loved looking through the book when she had a moment alone and gave at the people she missed.

James and Lily had kept the kiss a secret from Julie. They both agreed that any relationships would be dealt with after Julie made some progress. But Sirius, of course, wouldn’t have that. Every time he got, he tried to give Julie a hint about her parents. She never figured them out but smiled because they were always hilarious.

Remus stopped by most nights and brought Julie some coloring books and film for her camera. He and Sirius watched her on the weekends while Lily took the day off to relax.

It was around April now and Lily was free on Saturday. After saying goodbye to Julie and the boys, she walked out into the spring weather with a light coat on top of her pink blouse. She wore a pair of faded jeans and some sandals as she walked up to the house she knew so well.

‘Godrics Hollow’ the sign read as she walked into the small village and past by many familiar houses she knew as a kid. She continued walking before she reached the one that once belonged to her. She walked up to the door, and took a deep breath. She knocked on the door and waited. Then, a minute later, an older man who looked like he was in his early sixties open the door.

“Lillian.” The man said softly.
“Hi dad.” Lily said softly before leaning over and giving him a soft hug.
“What are you doing here?” Lily’s father asked.
“Is mum home?” Lily asked avoiding the previous question.
“Oh yes, yes, your mother is home. Come in dear.” Lily’s father said before letting Lily inside.

Lily closed the door and followed her father into the living room. There sat Lily’s mother reading a book. She looked up, did a double take and smiled.

“My baby girl!” her mother squealed.
“Mum, Dad. I need to tell you something.” Lily said before sitting doing on the couch facing her parents.
“What is it dear?” her mother asked.
“I know I haven’t been in contact in a few years, but I had a good reason.” Lily began.
“And what was it? Come on; spit it out, Im not getting any younger.” Lily’s dad joked.
“I have a daughter.”

24: Missing Cally

“Oh dear that’s so wonderful!” Lily’s mom exclaimed.
“Why didn’t you send us an invitation to your wedding dear?” Lily’s dad questioned.
“Who’s the father?”
“Why didn’t you tell us before?”
“What’s her name?”
“When is her birthday?”
“What does she look like?”
“How old is she?”

More and more questions were brought up as Lily stared in disbelief as her parents were taking this so well. But her parents thought she was married! Sure, Lily was happy she wasn’t about to be kicked out of the house but how was she supposed to tell her parents the full truth? Lily stared at her parents hopeful faces and she turned away softly.

“Im not married. Julie is three years old. I got pregnant with her at the end of school and her father found out six months ago about her. I was young, stupid and afraid. I didn’t know how to tell you. So I had Dumbledore find me a job in the States. I had Julie and she’s amazing, she’s the most important thing to me right now. And she’s sick, she has cancer and just stopped responding to treatment and I fig-figur-figured that you guys could come see her and be with her before she goes.” Lily said before breaking down into sobs.

She drove her head into the pillow on the couch as her makeup began to run down her cheeks. She pulled her knees to her chest like she did when she was younger. Her parents moved other to her with anger written all over their face.

“Im going to ask you to leave now Lillian.” Her mother asked quietly.
“Please, just come with me and meet her…” Lily begged.
“No.” her father responded.
“Please.” Lily said breathlessly.
“No.” they both said before Lily got up and left the room.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Julie sat in her bed holding onto her favorite stuffed animal and her scrapbook. She wore her regular hospital gown with a light blue short sleeve shirt underneath with stars stretching across the upper left hand side to the bottom right hand side of the shirt. Her classic black capris were also underneath the gown along with her classic Velcro sneakers. She held her favorite bunny, Janet, in her left arm. The bunny was a classic white with floppy ears that went down to Janet’s middle torso. The scrapbook was getting holder and got heavy for when you looked at it, it was a large bulk of photos.

Julie silently turned the page waiting for James to show up. He was five minutes and thirty three seconds late from his job search. Julie took a deep breath and slowly let her pupils glance at the clock on her bedside. He was now six minutes and forty two seconds late. She let her back ease into the pillows before looking at the page once more. It read ‘The Play Room’ in rainbow colors full of pictures of herself with her old friends. Julie glanced at the pictures as she let the memories fly over her like the sun does in the sky every day.

Julie then spotted it. The picture of her and her friend Cally Weinsfield. Julie missed her more than ever now. Julie and Cally had their arms around each other’s necks hanging loosely as they smiled at the camera. Julies red hair was pulled into a braid and Callys honey blonde was hanging loose because her hair was really short. They wore matching t-shirts which read “Free The Souls – Donate Something” and blue jeans. They had taken off their shoes so they were left with their ankle socks on their feet. In the background was the play gym and kids running around happily.

Julie closed the book and then glanced at the clock again. Ten minutes and twenty nine minutes late. Some father. Julie laid her head gently on the soft side of the pillow and shut her eye lids and she inhaled and exhaled softly. She thought of the photo and let her fill her mind and absorb her thoughts.

Flashback….

“Cally!”Julie exclaimed when she ran into the play room with her camera in tow.
“Hey Julie.” Cally said before she began to cough. And cough. And cough.
“Are you okay Cally?” Julie asked as she thumped her friend on the back.

Cally coughed about five more times before she grasped her water bottle nearby and drank from it.

“Im much better.” Cally said putting the bottle down.
“So what did the doctors say?” Julie asked as they sat down on the ground.
“They need to give me some stuff tomorrow, no biggie. I’ll be back tomorrow.” Cally responded.

They sat there on the floor for a few minutes before Julie picked up her camera.

“No more.” Cally laughed.
“Please? We’ll have someone take it.” Julie pleaded.
“One.” Cally said holding her index finger up.
“Deal!” Julie exclaimed pulling Cally off the floor.

They ran over to one of the monitors and hugged her.

“Maria, please please please please!” they begged.

Maria took the camera and let the girls pose. Julie put her arms around Callys neck and Cally did the same. They looked away from each other and at Maria before they put large grins on.

“Say cheese!”
“Cheese!” the girls exclaimed and a flash went off.

End Flashback….

Julie woke up to feel her body be shoved around. She opened her eye lids and let her pupils adjust to the light before she noticed her father sitting there.

“Sorry Julie, for being late.” James apologized.
“I wanna see Cally again.” She said before she took out the scrapbook and removed the picture she was staring at before.

25: The Unexpected Visit

“Julie?” James called softly as he moved a little closer to Julie. As he came closer he noticed the picture of her daughter and another young girl who looked around the same age. ‘So that’s Cally’ he thought to himself. He stared at the picture as he looked at it in depth.

Julie looked so young but yet so much more alive than she is now. Her full hair was out and softly curled and her eyes twinkled with happiness, in a way, she looked much more alive than he had ever seen her. Yet when he looked at Cally, he saw the beginning of her disease as her hair seemed unsettled and her skin was a little pale. And the light in her eyes looked as if it was a tiny candle trying to out shine an entire cave. Longing to shine and be happy but always finding darkness ahead.

James quietly glanced at his young daughter as she stared at the picture. And then, for the first time, he understood. He understood what she was going through and why this was so tough for her at the moment. Julie had seen her friend go through this disease only to believe that it was a simple cold and not some fatal disease that she is now battling herself.

He quietly moved a little closer to Julie and stood up. James moved over to her bed and sat down upon it. He situated himself next to Julie and she moved over so he could lie down with her. James lay close to her in the bed as she put the picture back in its spot and continued to flick through the pages.

For the next hour Julie told James all about her old life in the other hospital and all the friends she had made. And especially about all the people she lost. She talked about her care takers and how she would spend every day in a hospital feeling fine – playing with children who were dying. But when she got to Cally, she began to sob again.

“Cally said she was having a bad cold. And that it was no biggie.” Julie said as she hugged her father tightly. James just sat there, holding his precious girl, as she explained all of this to him. “And then one day, she just didn’t come back. I know what’s happening to me – it’s what happened to Cally.”

Julie reached out for a tissue as she sneezed. Her wig went flying off her head but she didn’t move.

“I wish I could do more for you sweetie.” James said softly as she stared at the wall.
“I know. I’m just scared. Scared that one day I’m going to leave Mommy and you and Sirius and Remus and everyone who cares about me. What will Mommy do? Im the only one she has left. I know you care about her, but Mommy is so stubborn. I don’t want Mommy to be alone.” Julie sobbed even more as she stared at the wall.

James sat up slowly as he listened to her. He stood up and walked over to her before he gently put his arms around her shoulders and carefully pulled her close to him. He hugged her as she finished sobbing. He kissed her ear and whispered, “You are going to be okay. If there is anyone who deserves to survive, its you.”

Julie turned around and looked at him. He was so tall that she could barely see his face. She took her hands and reached for his shoulders. Once she reached by her tip toes, she pulled him down to her height. He was now kneeling on the ground facing her as she wiped her eyes one last time.

“Promise me something daddy?” Julie asked quietly as she stared at him with hope.
“Anything.” He responded as his voice got lower.
“When I die, don’t leave Mommy alone. Be with her and make her love you again. I know she loves you, she just doesn’t realize it yet.” Julie said and then shoved her small, weak arms around his neck and gave him a strong hug.

“I love you daddy.” Julie added quietly as she hugged him.

James became still in shock. It was the first time Julie had said that to him since her abduction. He remembered what it was like after that. Julie wouldn’t talk to him or Lily, she only screamed “I HATE YOU!” before running into another room and slamming the door. Now, she was here, saying she loved him and James couldn’t have been happier.

“I love you too.” James replied before Lily entered the room and smiled when she saw them.
“How’s my girly?” Lily asked as Julie let go of James.
“Good!” Julie squealed as she ran into her mother’s arms.
“Ahh, so I just talked to your doctors and they said that all they have to do for the rest of today is check your blood.” Lily said as she lifted Julie into her arms and carried her to her bed.
“Really, is that all?” James whispered to Lily quietly as Julie put her shoes on.
“Well for now. They need to check her blood cells to determine if she needs a different medicine.” Lily replied just as quiet.
“But I thought she wasn’t responding to anything?” James asked.
“To the transplants, but this medicine might help her bones improve on their own.” Lily added as Julie placed her last shoe on.
“So you ready kiddo?” Lily asked.
“Yupp!” Julie said and hopped off her bed.

But just then, there was a small pop! And then Julie felt something on her wig.

“Sirius!” Julie screamed as she turned around to face Sirius and Remus smirking.
“What are you two doing here?” James asked as he laughed.
“Visiting our favorite girl, no offense Lily. So; tonight, your two favorite people in the entire world are taking you out to the best place for dinner.” Sirius said as he hugged Julie.
“Where are we going?” Julie asked as she tugged whatever was on her wig off, to find a pair of antennas.
“Secret.” Remus replied smiling.
“What about mommy and daddy?” Julie asked looking at them.
“We are going to give them a break and let them be themselves.” Sirius said who quickly winked at the pair which resulted in James giving him a ‘What-are-you-trying-to-set-up? Face’.
“If that’s okay with you guys that is, because you are welcome to come.” Remus added as he looked from Sirius to James to Lily who all had different expressions on their faces.
“No, that’s fine. Lily and I had to talk about some things anyway.” James said quickly.
“No we don’t.” Lily replied.
“Yeah, we do.” James said giving her a ‘Think-about-it’ face.
“Oh yeah! Right, so that’ll be fine. But first, she has to get to her blood check.” Lily said as she led Julie towards the door.

But when she reached the door, she found something in the way. Two something’s actually. And she stared at them as she grasped her daughters hand tightly and said, “What are you doing here?”

Chapter 26: Secrets & Surprises

“Oh good...we found you. “ said Mrs. Evans quietly as she stared at her daughter, three men and her granddaughter.
“How did you get in here? Why did you get in here? What are you doing here?” asked Lily as she stared at her mother and father with wide eyes as she gripped Julie’s hand.
“Hold on dear…Mrs. Figg! Thank you so much! Yes! I found her! Yes, I’ll call later!” called Mrs. Evans as she put her head outside the door and waved to an elderly woman.

Mr. & Mrs. Evans walked into the room and Lily began to back up. She was still holding onto Julie while Sirius & Remus looked utterly confused at the situation. They all stood inside the room in an awkward silence as James cleared his throat.

“Right, sorry. What are you doing here? I came to talk to you and you guys told me to get lost.” Said Lily bluntly as Julie looked around nervously.
“Well, to be fair. If your daughter who you hadn’t seen in four years all of a sudden shows up to tell you she has a kid and isn’t married and her kid is seriously sick and wants you to visit her…what would you have done?” asked Lily’s father carefully as if he wanted to form the words into the question carefully.
“I would have told her to sod off and that she messed up her own life…then I’d forgive her.” replied Lily as she began to understand the sudden surprise of her parents.
“We’re sorry Lillian.” gently came her mother’s voice.

Lily heard Sirius snicker in the background and made a mental note to kick him later as she was sure he was going to be calling her that for a while now. She walked over to her parents and gave a gentle hug before she turned around and faced Julie who was starting to look pale.

“Oh my, Julie, quickly say hello to your grandda and grandma so we can get you to your appointment.” called Lily as she took Julie's hand.

Lily led Julie to her parents and Julie looked up at them and smiled. She gave each of them a hug each welcoming them and then gave Lily a squeeze in her palm.

“Sorry, we’ll be back. She’s already late as it is.” said Lily as she dashed off with Julie in tow.

After Lily and Julie left the boys stood there nervously as they faced Lily’s parents. There was an awkward pause as Mr. and Mrs. Evans walked around the room before quietly sitting down on a small couch besides Julie’s bed. James, Remus and Sirius stood silently watching as the old couple got settled. Mrs. Evans looked up and saw James watching her and took an intake of breath.

“So, how have you been James?”

It was that one question that made James’ ears perk up and stare at Lily’s mother. He hadn’t seen Lily’s mother in four years but yet she still remembered him. That had to be good, right? Or it was really bad? He looked up at her as she waited for an answer.

“I’m okay I guess. I wish things were better and things hadn’t gone the way they had.” said James as he felt everyone watching him and he began to flush nervously.
“Obviously, I feel the same way. If you catch my drift James?” replied Mrs. Evans as her eyebrows went up as to hint at the obvious.
"Yeah. I know what you mean." James whispered quietly as if he was afraid to speak too loud.
"I am surprised though that you and Lillian aren't married yet - when she introduced us too you that summer I could see the look in her eyes. The look of how much she loved you. And now Lillian has a kid and no husband and you are somehow in the picture. Care to explain?" Mrs. Evans asked as she kept her eyes fixed on James.
"In all honesty - Lily never told me because I was being a fool. But I wanted to marry her with all my heart. I found out last year about Julie and I know that it is no excuse but I am going to help Lily with anything she needs." James replied strong.

Mrs. Evans only nodded, accepting what he had said and turned to face Sirius and Remus who were currently reading. Correction, Sirius was looking at the pictures in the book. There was no reading of the words involved.

"And you two are?" Mr. Evans asked as he noticed his wife curiously looking at them.
"Oh Mr. & Mrs. Evans - these are my good friends. The one who is currently eating the spaghetti and chicken is Sirius Black -"James began as he pointed to Sirius who had a piece of spaghetti hanging out of his mouth while he smiled and waved and then continued, "and the one reading a book is Remus Lupin." James finished as Remus took his name out of the book and waved and said "Hello."

"Hello Sirius and Remus. Do you know when my daughter will be returning?" Mr. Evans asked questioningly.
"She and Julie should be back soon. They're just monitoring her blood and checking her progress. She should be back soon." Remus said as he kept reading is book.

Mr. Evans nodded and patted his wife's knee. James sat down next to Sirius and Remus finished the chapter before closing his book. Remus casually started a conversation as Sirius snickered behind him. Ten minutes later Lily and Julie walked back inside both of them smiling.

"You both are smiling, what's going on?" James asked beginning to smile, as he was happy to see Lilys smile return.
"Julie is doing very well this week. This is the fourth time she has had a good report." Lily said smiling brightly as she hugged everyone.
"Well this calls for something extra to our surprise don’t you say Moony boy?" Sirius asked nudging Remus' elbow smiling mischievously.
"Oh yes! Since Padfoot had to nearly knock my elbow off." Remus replied annoyed but smiling.
"Oh right! Mum. Dad. Sirius and Remus are taking Julie out now for the rest of the day and night. But I promise we'll visit soon." Lily said as she got Julie her denim coat and turned her attention back to her parents.
"I understand, we should be getting home soon anyway. Mrs. Figg said shed be coming to get us around now anyway - yes there she is - down the hallway," Mrs. Evans said as she poked her head outside the room's door and waved to the woman.
"Alright mum, da. I love you" Lily said as she hugged her parents before letting Lily hug her grandparents.

Lily hugged her grandma tightly as Mrs. Evans whispered sweet words to her, and then she hugged her grandpa who basically told her to stay strong. Lily walked her parents down the hallway to Mrs. Figg while the boys talked. Lily returned moments later and kissed Julie goodbye and let Sirius pick her up and walk out of the room with Remus. She smiled at the idea of what they would end up doing.

"Tada!" Sirius said as he waved his arms like a lunatic.
"What is it?" Julie asked as she looked around the area.
"Well - you see it's - actually - oh dang. I really don't know. Remus picked it." Sirius said as he shrugged his shoulders.

Julie ran over to Remus who was paying the admission to the area. He lifted her up and walked back to Sirius as she squealed in delight.

"Where are we Remus?" Julie asked as he put her down gently.
"Where do we think we are?" Remus asked back smiling.
"A zoo? Ive heard of them but Ive never gone…" Julie replied drifting off softly.
"Well - you are right. We are at the local zoo." He said and watched Julie scream.
"What's a zoo?" Sirius asked as he looked around at the animals.
"You'll see Sirius, come on." Remus said as they began to walk inside.

Sirius glanced around and found himself staring at the weird animals in the cages. There was something wrong with them. For one thing, they had one head. Since when do creatures have one head? And they werent even strange colors. It was overall one word: Bizarre. But Julie smiled as she pointed out all of the animals to Remus and Sirius. They passed many animals and then came up to a rather large cage full of about twenty animals. They had long tails, long arms and legs, and were brown.

"Ooh Monkeys!" Julie squealed as she ran up to the cage. Remus and Sirius ran after the little girl and stopped as Julie put her small arm inside the cage.
"No Julie don’t do that! It could have poisonous fangs!" Sirius screamed as he took Julie's arm out of the cage.

Julie turned around to face Sirius and began to talk quickly. "It’s a monkey Sirius. The worst thing they could do is throw poo at you." Julie giggled.
"Ugh. Who would love a creature who does that?" Sirius snorted in disgust.
"Sirius! I love monkeys!" Julie shouted in shock.
"Ohhh…righty then. Let's move on." Sirius finished trying to get Julie to leave the monkeys.
"No I wanna stay with the monkeys." Julie said as she joined Remus who was staring at a brown monkey eyeing him suspiciously.

Sirius followed her back to the monkey and noticed it was watching him too just as it was watching Remus. Sirius leaned over to Remus and whispered to him, "Caught animagus you think?" And Remus just nodded. Sirius walked over to the monkey and quickly but quietly slipped his wand into the cage and poked the monkey. Nothing. He poked again. Nothing. Sirius poked the monkey five more times and still nothing. He took his wand out and then put it away. The monkey then began to move as he climbed to the back of the cage and grabbed some brown substance and came back to Sirius. Sirius froze and then the monkey swung its arm back and fired.

Sirius smelt the poo before it hit him. He froze completely as the monkey hit him again. And again. And then the other monkeys joined the one and threw poo like there was no tomorrow. But then one monkey drew the line. Sirius had been hit in the arms, stomach, legs and his hands too. But that one monkey. Threw a huge piece and it landed…. In his hair. Sirius screamed as he shook his head like a dirty dog trying to remove the poo. Remus and Julie stopped laughing as Sirius started screaming at the monkey. He reached for his wand….

"Alright Sirius - lets get you cleaned up." Remus said running over to him pushing him away from the monkeys.

They began to walk away and Sirius turned around one more time to see the monkey LAUGHING at him. No one laughed at Sirius Black. Till now.

After Sirius got all cleaned off "Stupid monkey" Sirius muttered they kept moving until they found the gorillas. Julie squealed again and ran over to see a huge black hair gorilla moving around in his area as children pestered it. Julie began to pet the gorilla until she felt someone touch her wig… Julie turned around to see another gorilla touching her wig in interest. Julie quickly stepped away as she grabbed her wig when Remus and Sirius caught up.

"Everything okay Julie?" Remus asked.
"Yeah everything's great." Julie replied.

Then something popped into Julie's mind. She began to grin like mad and took Sirius' hand. She pulled his hand toward the gorilla and Sirius' face began to show fright. It was big. Big and hairy, With big hands. And big feet.

"Its okay Sirius. Gorillas don't throw poo." Julie laughed at Sirius' face.
"If you're sure." Sirius said as they walked toward the animal.

Julie took Sirius' hand and moved it over the gorillas' fur as he began to relax. Julie smiled and turned around as the other gorilla began to approach Sirius. Julie let go quickly and backed up behind him, ready for the show. Remus, catching on, came next to Julie laughing silently at what was about to happen. The gorilla approached Sirius and looked amazed by his hair. While Sirius was petting the gorilla he felt something else feel his hair. Sirius froze as the thing then gave a huge tug. Sirius slowly turned around to be nose-to-nose with another gorilla.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Sirius screamed as he ran off to find Julie.
"You" he pointed at Julie, "are awful! Haven't we done enough to scare Sirius today?" he asked as Julie continued to laugh her head off.
"Alright - lets take a break and get some food." Remus said trying to keep Sirius calm.

The three walked away from the area and towards the small restaurant as Sirius slowly regained his confidence.

Lily and James were casually walking the streets of Diagon Alley as the sun began to set. Lily was smiling once more in relief. She needed this. It had been so long since she was able to relax. He had taken her to the Tree Broomsticks for old times sake for a quick dinner and was walking down the ice cream shop as they passed other visitors minding their own business.

James had his arm draped casually around Lily's shoulders as she laughed at one of his jokes. By the time they had arrived at the shop, the both of them couldn't keep but admire each other lovingly.

They walked inside and Lily found them a table for two while James went to go order their ice cream. But instead when James returned he was carrying more than two cups on ice cream…he was carrying a guitar too. A beautiful redwood guitar with a star imprinted on the bottom corner. He smirked at Lily's shocked face and sat down.

"This is gorgeous, James, where did you get it?" Lily asked shocked as she admired the instrument.
"Actually - its Sirius' - he's been playing for a long time and let me borrow his precious guitar. As long as I wax and polish it before I return it of course." James winked as Lily chuckled knowing about Sirius and his possessions.
"And what is the purpose for borrowing such a beautiful guitar?" Lily asked questioningly.
"This" James replied as he pulled out a guitar pick and he began to play…

Chapter 27:
Engagements

Lily quietly glanced at James as he began to doze off. They had been watching some classic muggle movies after an intense snogging session. James had played her a beautiful song that had brought Lily to tears inside the restaurant. She ended up crying so much that the owner asked them to leave because he was afraid that her crying would leave to a decrease in customers. Business was hard enough with the war going on. They apparated back to James’ house and got some snacks together before they sat down and began the movie.

Now an hour into the movie, James had begun to lose interest and now he was just dozing off. She watched him as his head leaned on her shoulder. Lily sighed and moved the snacks forward as he moved himself closer. He let his head fall on her shoulder and Lily let her body relax and continued to watch the movie. Lily took her right hand and ran it through James’ untidy black hair. He groaned and she kept messing his hair up more as she kept her eyes fixed on the movie.

“Someone’s tired.” chuckled Lily as she removed her hand from his hair.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” groaned James as he tried to open his eyes and sit up.
“Oh relax. We should get ready for bed anyway…” began Lily and laughed as James began to smirk like he did when he was seventeen.
“No – not that bed. Remus, Sirius and Julie will be back soon.” added Lily laughing.

James’ face fell a little but got up after Lily turned off the TV. They quietly cleaned up their snacks, or Lily did while James watched her, and headed toward their separate bedrooms. Lily was about to walk inside her bedroom when she heard James jump five feet and land in front of her – on his knees. He smiled up at her sheepishly as she cocked her eyebrow.

“Forget something?” laughed Lily as she stared down at James.
“Actually, you’re right on the mark.” replied James quickly before taking his right leg and stand up making him kneel on one knee.
“James, if it wasn’t almost eleven a clock at night, I’d think that pose was going somewhere serious.” whispered a dumbstruck Lily as she froze in her spot.
“Well Sirius shouldn’t be back till eleven…” began James as he laughed but then realized Lily still wanted to know what was going on, “Oh! Right! Um, Lily. The thinggg is … well I always wanted to tell you this … crap, Im screwing up so bad.” Sighed James as he ran his hands through his messy hair.
“James, why don’t you come inside and lay down – you don’t look to good.” replied Lily as she took his hands and pulled him out of his pose.
“No, no. Okay, I can do this. Get a hold of yourself Potter!” muttered James as he went back on one knee. “Lily, I love you. I have always loved you. From the moment on our first day of Hogwarts – and we had that stupid argument I knew I was always going to be the only one for you. Wow, that sounds egotistical. But, I mean it. The way your hair shines in the light and your eyes glow – it’s maddening. No joke. Every time you smile I can’t help but smile even more – and when you’re sad, I just want to make you feel better. I know we had a tough time and I have never regretted losing you more than anything else in my life. I just want to be yours forever and never have the chance at losing you. I want to wake up next to you every day and I want to be the last person you say good night to before you go to sleep every night. I want to spend my life with you – no matter what should happen – I’ll always be in love with you. Lily Evans – will you please make me the happiest man in the whole universe and marry me?”

James then removed the small velvet black box before opening it with one hand as he held Lily’s hand in his other. He offered her the ring which glistened even in the dark hallway. Lily stood there motionless before she heard the door open. Three pairs of footsteps made their way into the house and James’ eyes widened as he was still waiting for Lily’s response.

“Well…that is…oh wow. I mean, yes! Yes, I’ll marry you!” squealed Lily quietly before letting James slip on the ring and stand up. He kissed her passionately and whispered huskily, “Are you sure you don’t want to come in now?”

“Hurry – before they come down this hallway” whispered James as he scrambled off the floor and dashed inside Lily’s room. Lily giggled in spite of herself and followed him into her room before closing the door. She locked it.

They weren’t even close to the bed when they heard the slamming on the door. James stood up and listened to the pounding, after years and years he could tell who was pounding, and then he realized who it was. Sirius. He looked at Lily before getting the worst news in his life.

“GUYS! JULIES NOT BREATHING! REMUS IS TAKING HER TO ST. MUNGO’S. HE THINKS SHE’S DIEING!”
