]This is my 1st post, but I've been reading from this site for ages just not posted, I didn't know what to say on the newbie forum. smile.gif

However! I've been re-reading POA lately and something caught my eye. During the chapter "Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw" Harry has a dream and it sounds really similar to when he is chasing Snape's Patronus through the Forrest of Dean:

"He had a very strange dream. He was walking through a forest, his Firebolt over his shoulder, following something silvery white. It was winding it's way through the trees ahead, and he could only catch glimpses of it between the leaves. Anxious to catch up with it, he sped up, but as he moved faster, so did his quarry. Harry broke into a run and ahead, he heard hooves gathering speed. Now he turned a corner into a clearing and -"

Come on people!? Sound a bit familar?!

wow I remember reading that but I have never thought of making that connection between them. It really is quite familiar to one another. And maybe it was just a dream of the future ... I'm not sure how to explain myself. But to answer the question no I don;t think that what harry saw was a dream ... ron had found him so basically no i don't think it was all a dream. But that dream you said has some kind of connection to it.

That is an interesting connection, and I can see how you think it's similar... however, I think it's his own stag patronus, because in PoA he discovers a lot about his parents, and learning about his father and the Marauders is a big part of the book. After rereading that dream in the context of him trying to fight dementors and wondering about his parents, I think it's more likely a forshadowing of James's Animagus and Harry's patronus being a stag. Because he doensn't really think that much about Snape or his mother, I doubt that it's their patronus. But I do see how, if you read the dream out of context with PoA, it sounds very familiar to his encounter with Snape's silver doe.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm re-reading the books also. I just read that part today and I wondered too. I think yes. It is very similar. Of course Harry isn't a seer, but maybe J.K. just once in a while slipped those things in. She made the ending of the 7th Harry Potter book before she finished all the other books. Thank-you!!!!!! biggrin.gif

Oooh, yes, I just re-read the books too, and I remember that part! I just finished POA. It makes sense... I know the plot was written, so maybe it was a hint... mellow.gif That's interesting! I actually saw this in the new posts page and I found it interesting and I checked it out... I actually never realized this! Wow, you're smart! tongue.gif I wonder if it really was part of the plot... that'd be cool. smile.gif

That is a really interesting connection. I have never thought of that. It would be interesting if there is a connection between the two scenes. I think it would show how deep the connectino between Snape and Harry goes, even if neither of them will admit it.

Cool!! I never noticed that before. I'll have to go take a look at POA and read that part again. Maybe it was a clue about DH. It could be a coincidence, but that would have to be a weird coincidence. It sounds so much like the Silver Doe, that it's almost like Harry had a 'flash' about the future. I can't believe you spotted that. Still cool!

That is a good point about the dream...I think the same can be said for most of Harry's dreams actually
His dreams (not even meaning the ones about the MoM in OoP) always seem to signify something or other...like when Harry is dreaming about Ron and Hermione wearing crowns when they were prefects instead of Harry...maybe Dream Interpretation is not a load of dung after all?

I agree. There is usually some meaning in Harry's dreams, like in Philosophers Stone when he has a dream about Snape, but somehow Quirrel's turban comes into it and he wakes with his scar hurting. I agree that is strangley close to what happened in the forest when he is chasing Snape's patronus, but I have to agree with what someone said in an ealrier post - I think that perhaps the hooves were of his own Stag patronus. Now, I have two theories of what this dream signifies.
Theory 1 - It's signifying Harry chasing a corporeal patronus, because at the time he is struggling to produce a fully formed patronus, so perhaps he is chasing the stag patronus, but is not reaching it because he cannot yet make a fully fledged patronus.
Theory 2 - This is perhaps predicting what is happening later on in PoA when Hary manages to conjure his first corporeal patronus by the lake - the Stag patronus is running to the lake through the forbidden forest because Harry has finally managed to summon it. When harry runs through the trees into a clearing maybe this is the clearing that is the lake - Harry wakes up at this point because if it carried on he would see himself casting away the dementors, which would be too much of a spoiler for later on.
Just two theories i have, be interested to hear what you think.

I agree with your second theory. It seems that most of harry's dreams are significant to future events in every book. The doe does fit in well, but i think it more likely that the dream was about the patronus at the end of the book and it was just a coincidence with the doe.
