Chapter 1 MAGIC AT THE MINISTRY

As Draco stood with his son Scorpius outside Kings Cross, they saw another family approaching. A closer look confirmed that it was Harry Potter and his wife, whose name remained a mystery to him [Draco]. He nodded curtly as if to acknowledge their presence.

Ever since Potter had saved him from an almost certain death during the battle of Hogwarts, Draco could not help but feel a certain resentment for him. Now his boy was starting his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and he was there to see him off.

The death of his previous master: the Dark Lord had left a burning scar on his left arm where once the Dark Mark had been branded, and a feeling of loss and guilt. Now he had a decent enough job in the Ministry and still resided in Malfoy Manor.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by a tug at his robes; this told him that Scorpius was impatient to get on the train. For the first time he noticed that Potter had gone and Scorpius' friends from the Slytherin compartment were beckoning to him. Draco sent him onto the train with a rough goodbye and headed for home just as the black steam from the retreating scarlet steam engine billowed behind it, leaving a dark trail and a strange smell in the air.

He couldn't be late, not today when a promotion was almost certainly guaranteed. He'd been working hard for a long, undefined amount of time and his department had made a very colossal discovery. When he arrived at his office in the newly constructed Ministry of Magic, a surprise of a sizeable scale was awaiting him. He regarded her with one of his trademark smirks, but somehow could not bring the words he wanted from his mouth; so great was his shock.

How had she found him here, after so long a time he thought she had forgotten all about him, but in truth Ms. Pansy Parkinson had always had a way of making people queasy with a single look from her dog-like eyes. She stared him down to a point where she was sure that he would not interrupt anything she had to say.

Following the incidents at Hogwarts, the two of them had parted ways for good. He hadn't seen her in a long time and was a bit surprised by what he saw. She had changed a lot, this much was certain; she had let her dark hair grow long and flowing. Her face no longer wore that pug-like semblance that the Mud-Blood Granger had never neglected to mention whenever the two confronted each other, and her robes were a dazzling midnight blue.

She interrupted his observations with a loud clearing of her throat " Mr. Malfoy, have you been paying attention to a word I said?" " Have I ever?" was his naive reply. " Interesting view , Mr. Malfoy, you were always clever with words but any more cheek from you will result in suspension from your post!" She spoke sharply, and the words stung. A cold realization hit him at that precise moment.

"Finally clicked did it?," " Yes. Malfoy I am the newly appointed head of this Department and as such hold in my hands the power to suspend you from your post." Suddenly his expression changed from sheer shock to one of mock politeness "In that case: if there is anything I can do for you, please don't bother asking me for help."

"Very well" she said “I’ll make a note of that. Oh, and Draco, the word dripped poison; don’t cross me"

Chapter 2 WHO IS SHE?

“How could he do this to me?!?!” Draco was in a furious rage, and his wife was unsuccessfully trying to calm him down. She was a pale, blonde, and temperate woman, not unlike his mother, Narcissa. She spoke in a soothing tone of voice; but nothing she could say would quiet him.

Finally, exhausted from so much shouting, he was forced to sit down. After he’d told her the story, she had but one question; “Who is she?”

He paused, considering the question. He chose his next words with great care, lest a mistake should cost him his marriage. And finally the answer he gave was “My dear, Ms. Parkinson is merely an old acquaintance of mine from my years at Hogwarts.

She accepted this response (gratefully), and the rest of the day went on as usual, and to Draco’s immense relief, without further interrogation from his spouse. He was kept increasingly busy throughout by his heavy workload.
He went to bed that night in wonder of what tomorrow might bring.

Later that evening, as Draco slept soundly by her side, she lie awake pondering the events of that Saturday. His words were still fresh in her mind. She simply could not dismiss the mysterious woman from her thoughts.

Draco’s reply earlier had indeed answered her question, but it had not been able to quell her womanly instinctive curiosity.

Chapter 3 SECRETS AND LIES

The following day, Sunday, Draco awoke with a start to a loud noise in his study. He went down to investigate, pulling out his wand as he walked. When he opened the door, he found nothing except his very distraught wife and a few scattered photographs.

When she saw him come in, she hid her face in her hands and ran for the door, dropping on the carpeted floor an item that had been in her hand. Draco bent down to pick it up, and when he saw what it was he understood why it had caused Aleana so much misery.

It was a picture, but not just any picture, this picture was of him and Pansy at the Yule Ball. It would have been bad enough if it was a stationary photo but this was a wizard’s photograph and it depicted Draco kissing Pansy over and over again.

At that moment a surge of feelings began to bubble within him like Veritaserum potion in a boiling cauldron. The memory of that day was enough to make him sick.

For the rest of the day, he avoided looking at Aleana lest his gaze bring forth a new outburst of tears. The hours went by in eerie silence, without a word spoken by either. Somehow he found this more disconcerting than her muffled tears.

When he could no longer stand the empty silence, he confronted her directly about the situation.

After he'd finished speaking, she said. It is true that a picture is worth 1000 words, however, you were both young, and it was not the photograph that upset me. What was it then woman? thought Draco. And as if she had read his mind she said. You lied to me Draco, you lied, and that is as clear to me today as it was the day that you married me.

Chapter 4 AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

Draco sat in his office that Monday with the memory of her words still fresh in his mind. What had she meant by telling him that he'd lied to her on their wedding day?

As he sat there wondering, his aching head in his hands, he heard a delicate knocking on the door. "Come in" he said without really knowing what he'd said.

When he saw who it was he immediately shot upward, sending his chair sliding backward. "What are you doing here?" he asked taken aback by his wife's sudden appearance in his office. He still couldn't believe she was really there.

As he stood there, speechless, she said "You seemed troubled last night and I thought you might want some company." When he recovered his voice he asked her in a confused tone of voice "But I thought you weren't speaking to me?"

"Nonsense dear, what reason could I possibly have for not doing so, after all it isn't as if you are hiding something or someone in here is it?" she said to him in a tone that clearly showed her suspicion.

He easily said "No, of course not" in the same tone "Please, have a seat.” Now it was her turn to be surprised. Nevertheless she sat down, looking around the office as she did so.

When his wife seemed in a comfortably satisfied position, Draco asked her in a questioning voice, "Now please tell me what you are really doing here Aleana.

Chapter 5 ALEANA’S VISIT

The two had a lot to talk about and Aleana stayed in her husband's office for longer than she had expected or hoped to stay when she had first arrived.

Surprisingly, their main topic of conversation wasn't (as one might expect) Pansy Parkinson, rather their conversation centered mainly on their marriage. Eventually the discourse strayed to talk of and a majority of complaints about Pansy.

Draco's descriptions of his loathsome supervisor(boss) were so accurate that by the time Aleana's visit came to a close, and she walked out, she held in her mind a vividly clear picture of Pansy Parkinson's appearance and character.

On her way out who should she bump into but Pansy, on her way to Draco’s office to deliver some fresh-made memos and to ask his advice on the new campaign she was working on.

“So, you must be Ms. Parkinson, delighted to meet you, I’m sure,” before Pansy had time to react, “please, allow me, you are taking them to Draco’s office correct?” Pansy did not even have time to reply before the stack of pamphlets and papers was taken from her hands.

“Ok” she said weakly “thank you very much.” She went on her way back to her own office awestruck and wondering who the woman she had seen coming out of and now on her way back to her co-worker’s office was.

Chapter 6 A TWIST IN THE TALE

There are certain days in a woman's life when she will stop to wonder: What Went Wrong? What Pansy Parkinson was wondering was: Who the ---- was she? Do I know her? How does she know me? But most prominent on her mind was: How does she know Draco?

Before she knew it, she was standing directly in front of his office door. She took a deep breath, several, in fact, and finally decided that she was ready to walk in.

When she opened the door, time itself seemed to have stopped. She drank in the scene in front of her carefully as if hoping it were would make it a dream, but it wasn't; she knew this and as she accepted it, a painful and unexpected realization settled on her now breaking heart.

In that instant, the proof that Draco had not stayed single shone in her eyes as brightly as the stone on the wedding ring on Aleana's hand, which at the moment was engaged in rubbing his neck and shoulders.

And it was her hand that he kissed before he even noticed a now angered Pansy's presence in the room.

She remained quite still, frozen in place, hoping he had not seen her, but her hopes were crushed when she was directly addressed by her; "Oh, hello, Ms. Parkinson."

And then from Draco; "So, you two have met. Pansy, this is my wife, Aleana." he said kissing her passionately, as if to mock her.

Pansy looked around, the sight of anything other than what she was seeing now would be welcomed by her eyes with open arms.

"Aleana has told me all about your short meeting in the hallway." continued Draco. And before he could say anything else Pansy spoke.

"Oh, your name is Aleana is it?" she had recovered her voice and was beginning to relax a little.

"I meant to ask you; how do you know so much about me, while I know nothing of you?"

"I'm terribly sorry, Pansy, you can blame my husband," here she indicated Draco, "for that, he simply can't stop talking about you."

At this, Pansy couldn't suppress a small smile. Satisfied, Aleana continued, "As I was saying, Draco just doesn't know when to stop--complaining about you."

A short wait bore the expected effect, and Pansy now wore an expression of sour contempt befitting a hero that has just been told off, while Aleana said a rushed goodbye to Draco who by now was snickering silently in his chair at Pansy Parkinson's humiliation.

Chapter 7 Good News is Bad News

The events that followed Aleana's visits to the ministry were as nothing when compared to what had happened that day. As Draco was remembering the occurrences for the umpteenth time, a knock on the door brought him back to reality.

As soon as she saw the look on his face, Miranda Hopkirk knew that she was not making anyone happy with her presence in Draco Malfoy's office.

"Believe me, it gives me no particularly great pleasure to be in here sir, but Mrs. Weasley wished me to inform you that your son's hearing has been canceled.

"What is this, what are you saying?"

"Exactly what you have heard, Mr. Malfoy, the hearing was canceled, the charges have been dropped."

"What hearing, what charges? I demand that you tell me at once!"

"Good day, sir!", and a rather irritated Miranda left Draco's office in a huff, leaving him, spluttering and shouting to himself.

Now he knew, he was finally aware of why his wife had been so evasive that day, she had, for her own reasons, decided not to tell him about their son's hearing.

Not wanting to bother her with something as insignificant as his not being informed about his son, Draco decided to confront Scorpius directly instead.
So he busied himself with quill and parchment and wrote the following short letter to his son:

Scorpius,

I know that you were not expecting me to find out about your hearing but I have managed it, even if it took this long. To get to the point , I am writing to inform you that the charges have been dropped, this being so, I will not reprimand you. But it better not happen again.

Your Father,
Draco Malfoy

In this chapter you will learn a bit more about Draco's son, Scorpius, enjoy!

Chapter 8 THE LETTER

When the mail arrived at Hogwarts the following morning, Scorpius was a little surprised to see that the letter he received was not from his mother as usual but from his dad.

As he sat at the Slytherin table reading and then re-reading his father's words, he smiled to himself, he was happy with Draco's sudden interest in his only son.

When he had gone to Malfoy Manor for the Easter holidays, he couldn't help but notice that Draco had seemed a little distracted and seemed not to know that Scorpius was home.

So he was quite satisfied that his small "accident" had caused such a wave, however small, of interest from his father.

He was not, of course, about to do it again anytime soon. This time around Rose's parents mightn't be so hasty to forgive and forget.

Rose Weasley was a talented young witch who could do anything that she set her mind to. The duel that she and Draco's son had had, would've been the stuff of legend if Proffesor Mcgonagall hadn't shown up when she had.

It had indeed been most unfortunate that he'd been caught , and even more so that Ronald Weasley had gone so far as to demand a hearing(such a scandal).

But, in the end, it had all worked out , as proven by Draco's letter. He had gottten off rather easy in his opinion (a couple of detentions with Longbottom). Although, when he gave the matter further thought, the Weasley girl hadn't been properly reprimanded ( and she herself had started the duel) Mcgonagall had consented to not giving her detention, but instead had taken a mere 30 points from Gryffindor house.

He dismissed it from his mind and began to write a rushed reply to his father's letter:

Dad,
You were wrong about me not expecting you to find out about the hearing. Even so, I'm glad you did not make such a big scene (the Weasley girl actually got a HOWLER), out of something as small as a corridor duel. It was good of you to choose not to reprimand me publicly, detention is enough for me. Speaking of which I'd better go , I've got to help "Proffesor Longbottom" re-pot mandrakes.
Rest assured that it won't happen again,
Scorpius

With that he hastily tied the scroll of parchment to the owl's leg and made his way to the greenhouse.

That night, Draco awoke to an insistent tapping on the bedroom window. He got out of bed to find out the cause of such a noise and found, Thorn, the family eagle owl, with a tightly furled scroll tied to his right leg.

He removed the letter from the owl's leg and read it through about five times before making his way to the bed to awaken his son's mother.

Chapter 9 Parental Incompetence

" What is it?" asked Aleana sleepily when a nudge from Draco woke her. When he didn't elaborate, she asked a little louder: " What, why did you wake me?" This time he managed to mouth the words "Read it."

For the first time, Aleana noticed the now slightly flatter parchment in his hand. She took it from him and read the letter through once, twice, three times, her eyes gaining circumference with each reading.

"Well," he asked "please, explain to me why I was not informed of this "small duel". I daresay, you had plenty of opportunities to tell me. I am, after all, the boy's father." he continued to gain anger with every syllable uttered.

"Really, the way you treat my son, it's as if you weren't." Aleana reprehended, now fully awake.

"What nonsense is this, woman? Are you implying that I do not love our son."

"Nobody is implying anything, I know for a fact that you don't love him, as is also true of your feelings about me."

"Why, oh, why did I ever consent to marry you?" he asked, beyond distressed.

"So, you admit now that you wanted to marry the Parkinson b****, do you?"

"Don't kid yourself, sweetheart, and don't change the subject, if you're upset with your own parental incompetence, there is no need to take it out on people like myself or my boss. Good Night!" and he stormed off toward the exit.

"Draco, where are you going? Draco, don't you dare..." the rest of her sentence was drowned out by the loud bang of the freshly slammed door. "....leave me." she finished.

Chapter 10 Where did he go?

Aleana spent the rest of the night and most of the next day crying. She cried until her tears ceased to exist; all that could be heard through the house was the faint echo of her muffled sobs.

"Where did he go," she thought "how could he leave so suddenly, and without reasonable cause."

When she had calmed herself down a little, she gathered her wits and courage, and decided to go to the ministry and pay someone a surprise visit.

As soon as Pansy saw the look on Aleana's face (a look that was part worry and part fury) when she walked into her office, she abandoned all hope of friendly small-talk, and rightly so.

Aleana had no intention of ‘beating around the bush’; "I'll ask you this once and once only, where is Draco?"

"He’s in his office…isn't he?" Pansy replied as though it were the most obvious thing in the entire universe.

"Don't play stupid with me b****, don't you think I've looked there, his secretary said he didn't show up today. So, where the b****y hell is he?"

"How should I know? He doesn't tell me anything, does he? If you’ve lost your precious husband, that’s your own fault for being so—ungrateful. So don't think you can come in here anytime it pleases you to shout at me; and even if I did know where he was, I would never tell you!" she said tearfully.

"I can do whatever ruddy well I please; you have no control over me, Pansy Parkinson, save your tears, and consider yourself lucky that I didn’t do more than just insult you."

This said, she left the room to look for Draco elsewhere. Her next stop was Diagon Alley, but he was nowhere to be found. By the end of the day, her only hope was that he’d calmed down and returned home.

He hadn't Aleana had looked everywhere in the large manor, but found nothing. She was confused about the exact reason why he'd left; she blamed herself. Yet the question that remained unanswered was: Where did he go?

Chapter 11 Surprises

Hogsmeade. December 20th. It was snowing outside; as Draco watched from the window, he could see Scorpius approaching Madame Rosemerta's. This seemed a bit strange to him (after all, it wasn't until 3rd year that they were allowed visits to the place; maybe this was why he was alone). He put on a windbreaker and made his way downstairs to the bar.

Scorpius didn't recognize, or in fact, see him at all; he supposed it was better that way. He ordered some firewhisky, and went to find a seat.

When he saw his son get ready to leave, he finished his drink and hastily dropped a few sickles on the table and walked out after him.

Finally, he caught up with him, and found his opportunity to talk. “Scorpius,” he began, but wasn’t allowed to finish because his son was hugging him too hard.

“Dad, what are you doing here? Where’s mom; what happened? Tell me everything.”

“I think you might want to sit down first,” after he did Draco began the tale. “Well, your mother and I, we had a row, a few days ago,” here he was interrupted by the sudden question “It was about me wasn’t it?” Draco continued as though his son hadn’t spoken “,and I, she said some things that got me thinking, I don’t spend as much time with you as a father is supposed to do. And that’s why I came to Hogsmeade; give her some time alone, you know?”

“Yeah, I think so, and I think we should head back to the school now, before they find out I’m not there.” He was using his words to hide the tears in his eyes, but even so it was a little hard to believe that this young man was only in 2nd year.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

On the way back to Hogwarts, Scorpius and his father had a chance to discuss what was bothering each of them; and also the “small duel”.

At McGonagall’s office, Draco told his old Transfiguration professor that he was here to take his son home with him. Surprising both of them, she replied “But of course, your son could teach you a thing or two over the holiday break.”

Chapter 12 Home for the Holidays

Aleana was anxious, a few days previously she'd received a letter from her husband and was re-reading it for the umpteenth time:
Aleana,

I've given your words a lot of thought these past few days, and have decided to come home. I do hope you've managed to stay out of trouble. I would tell you where I've been but don't want to ruin the surprise. I hope you'll forgive me; expect us home for the holidays.

My Heart is Yours,
Draco Malfoy

What surprise was he talking about; and who was he bringing with him for the holidays. As she was thinking about these things, she heard her husband call her name.

"Aleana, look who's here," now she knew where he'd gone and the purpose of his long absence; he'd gone to bring Scorpius home, instead of sending him on the train with the other students.

"Now I see that you do love us!" she said smiling.

"Of course I do, I thought you knew that. I'm sorry for the way I acted, I was confused."

"That doesn't matter anymore, we're a family again; that's more than enough for me"

The holiday season was a wonderful experience for the newly joined Malfoy family. Draco was glad to have such an amazing wife and son.

********

When Pansy saw him arrive at the ministry the following day, she ran toward him. He held out his arm to signify that this was close enough. "I have fixed things with my wife and son, and I won't have you ruin them.

"B-b-ut Draco," she stuttered.

"Save it; you know, Pansy, I always was curious to know why you never married."

"Well, that's none of your business; get back to work Malfoy!" he did but not before sneering "Oh, I see."

Veritaserum14
In this chapter Pansy gives up two very important parts of her life: her job and her true love?

Chapter 13 Pansy's Resignation

Minister,

The months that I have worked here have taught me a surprising amount about myself, but I have decided that a career in the ministry is not for me. The main reason that I have written this letter is to let you know that I must depart at once. You have been exceptionally helpful and I thank you, but I have my own personal reasons to go. I recommend Draco Malfoy as my replacement, but don't let him know I did.

I hope you can understand,
Ms. Pansy Parkinson

She knew that quitting her job wasn’t the best choice but it was her only choice, it was the only way she could help herself forget him. This was the only way she could stay out of his life. Leaving without saying good-bye would be difficult but she must.

Pansy made her way to the minister’s office to give him her letter of resignation. He was not there so she left the parchment on his desk and left. Standing outside, she looked back only once; her last look at the Ministry of Magic before she disappeared with a crack.

***********

He was a little surprised when the minister’s assistant came into his office to tell him to move his possessions to Pansy’s previous office. At first he thought that she had changed departments, but when he asked, he was told that “she chose to resign on short notice” and the minister thought he was the man for the job.

This job was what he’d been waiting for for a long time, yet he still couldn’t help wondering if she had chosen to quit because of him. He got his answer before the day was over. A small pygmy owl brought it in its beak. He read without much interest:

Draco Malfoy,

I had always thought that you and I would end up together, then you left. I went looking for you, but found you were already happy with someone else. I have left the ministry job to you to give you space to be even happier (without me).

Don’t worry about me,
Pansy

He crumpled the paper and threw it in the waste bin. How foolish she had been and was to think that he, of all people, had loved her; he didn’t even care about her. In any case, he was glad to finally be rid of her.

When Aleana heard the news, she was overjoyed, but still couldn’t help thinking that this was not the last time that Pansy would enter their lives; she was not mistaken. Pansy was, for now, gone but with no solid guarantee that she would not come back.
Veritaserum14
Chapter 14 An Uncovered Past

Work was now the only thing that kept them apart. She visited Draco often and this was usually the only time alone together that they got. Now that they were a family again and their son had long since gone back to Hogwarts, everything seemed to have taken a turn for the better. Except of course for the fact that Draco was kept incresingly busy as more and more witches and wizards decided to conduct experiments within their homes.

Truth be told it wasn't really the work part that bothered him the most, it was the way he'd reacted to Pansy's goodbye. He was a liitle shocked that she had even bothered with a letter to him in the first place. What bothered him the most, though, was not his appaling lack of pity for her. He wasn't lying when he told Aleana that he was glad she was gone.

It was just that after so much time together, before he'd met Aleana, they had been so 'close':

*Flashback*

He was back to his 4th year at Hogwarts, stupid Potter had again somehow managed to be the center of attention by getting his name in the Goblet. But he wasn't going to put up with that, no he tried his hardest to sabotage Potter's dream of taking all the glory for himself yet again. But time after time he had failed.

When the time came for the Yule Ball, he decided to take Pansy, because she wouldn't shut up about it. At the ball, seeing Granger all 'girled-up' had given Pansy something to bother him with.

The picture that Aleana had found in his study had been the work of Rita Skeeter, the reason behind his keeping it was something that still bothered him; he remebered why he'd had it taken:

Potter and the Weasel had been moping because their dates ( the Patil twins) had left them and so apparently had the Mud-Blood; his act of vengence had been to dance with Pansy closeby, when that didn't work, he'd leaned in for a kiss and at that moment *snap*, a flash and a delighted cry of "wonderful, young love".

*end of Flashback*

But he knew that it hadn't been true; his 6th year had proven that to him.

*Flashback*

On the Hogwarts Express. He'd sensed something suspicious, but Pansy had not allowed him time to further look into the matter; this annoyed him. And afterward she had expected him to walk with her. He of course did not; and he'd found Potter trying to spy on him!

But that was all past and gone; forgotten.

Further proof of how much Pansy didn't care about him was demonstrated when he revealed to his foolish cronies Crabbe and Goyle the task that he'd been set to do. When she overheard them talking, she had told him that it was over, she couldn't put up with him anymore because she was too cowardly to "get in trouble for your stupid 'task', Draco"

*end of Flashback*

And this was why he'd thought that she would never come back into his life again, but he had been wrong, she had come back expecting him to have been wasting his life waiting for her. Her own petty jealously had led her to leave him to be happy "without her" for the last time.
Veritaserum14
Chapter 15 Pansy's Return

All the memories that he had of her both past and recent were bad ones. Yet he still found himself thinking about whether or not she would come back. Aleana kept telling him that she would "She came back for you then, she'll come back now. Besides, I thought you said that you didn't care what happened to her, or was my hearing not well?"

"Of course I don't care about her, darling, it's only that now that we're happy without her in our lives, I find it hard to believe that she's been gone for only a year."

"Well, if you can't get her out of your mind, then I'm out of your life. So please just try not to think about that selfish, conceited vixen, or I will be forced to do something drastic. Choose."

"Aleana, I love you and only you, so please don't try to make this thing harder than it is."

"Oh, all right," she went to sit on his lap and they didn't have a chance to discuss that topic further after that. When all was well again and he'd forgotten all about Parkinson, they both made their way to the bedroom; it was late and he had a long day of work ahead of him tommorow.

Draco sat in his office frantically trying to cope with the stress of chickens that breathed fire, wands that backfired curses, and a particularly annoying assitant.

Meanwhile in Bulgaria, Viktor Krum had finally found a girlfriend (soon to be wife), Pansy had been busy traveling, trying to forget about Draco, one day he'd seen her crying her eyes out and asked her if she wanted to talk about what was bothering her over dinner.

She had agreed to it (what else could she do) and they had gradually got to know each other better, it turns out that they had a lot in common; both'd had their hearts broken by people who didn't love them. One thing led to another and they were soon engaged and later married.

Pansy surprised everyone, herself included when she showed up arm in arm with Viktor Krum at the Ministry of Magic, Department of Mysteries; she had meant to send him a letter, but gloating in person, if only to see the look on his face gave her so much more satisfaction.

"We're here to see Mr. Malfoy, I'm--"

"I know who you are miss but I'm afraid he's busy at the moment--"
after some thought "--with...uh...someone."

"That's alright, I'm sure that this 'someone' will be absolutely delighted to see me again, and married to such a fine man, I might add."

Well, as it turns out, Draco was busy, and just as Pansy had supposed, the 'someone' was none other than Aleana Malfoy. Draco was surprised by her presence only momentarily, but she hadn't seemed to notice and so kept right on talking.

".....and that's why she left, because she's a--"

"Hello, Aleana, I'm so glad to see you again, you look surprised, is something the matter?"

"Oh, look Draco, you see, I told you she couldn't resist coming back for another go at ruining our marriage."

"You may not have noticed, but I'm not alone...Viktor, come here."

When Viktor Krum entered the room, Aleana and Draco both burst into a fit of maddening laughter...."You married Viktor Krum, you actually thought that would make me 'notice', this is just too much" said Draco.

After they had both controlled themselves, they managed to beg Krum's pardon, and Aleana had one last thing to say to Pansy: "Your taste in men sure has gone down the drain dear. The women stood there fuming at each other with blatantly obvious dislike, while the two men looked at each other knowing they were both thinking the same thing ''Women, can't live with them, can't live without them."
Veritaserum14
Well, as it turns out it didn't take me very long, but as promised here is the final chapter of my fic. Hope you like it.

Chapter 16 Life after Hogwarts

Everything changed after the events of that day had gone by; for the rest of the day that afternoon, Draco and Krum had been discussing women while their wives were arguing audibly in the office. It was all pretty embarrassing, but in the end both managed to calm them down and Pansy had been escorted from the building by some security wizards.
At the manor, Aleana was still a little fueled by the fact that her husband had pulled her away.

“Why Draco; why didn’t you let me wreck her pathetic face?”

“Did you see the size of her husband; he would have pulverized me because my wife couldn’t handle herself properly.”

“I’m sorry---but she had no reason to come back and interfere, she isn’t wanted here. If I didn’t know better I’d say you were happy that she’s back.”

“But you and I both know that’s not true, don’t we?” he tickled her playfully.

She giggled “Yes.”

Many things occurred when they arrived home at the end of that long day at the ministry. The first of these was: Draco’s parents had decided to come for a visit, they were greeted and settled in soon enough and then they all made their way toward the sitting room to catch up on the news and events.

The Malfoys talked for a very long time about many things; when the women had trotted off to bed sleepily Lucius stayed behind to have a man-to-man talk with his son, whom he hadn’t seen since the day of his wedding to Aleana.

“Son, how are you really getting on with this—situation?”

“What situation father, I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about” said Draco nervously.

“I’ve known you long enough to know when you’re hiding something, regardless of how hard you try to shut me out, there is more than one way to read your mind, Draco. So tell me; what is this about Pansy, I thought after you married my daughter-in-law you had forgotten that young lady. Why then were you so tense when your wife made the slightest mention of her name?”

“Well…er…you see…she married also…and…”

“……and, naturally my son thought that his best childhood friend had yearned to be by his side and not a famous Quidditch star’s? Draco, let me tell you something, a relationship, such as the one you have with Aleana does not deserve to be ruined simply because the return of an old girlfriend revives memories and feelings within a man, causing him to question his choice. You have someone special by your side, and you have a son. Think about it.”

He spent the whole night thinking about his father’s words, they had really made him realize how much he appreciated his family; Pansy’s reappearance had been a surprise for him, nothing meaningful. His son didn’t deserve to have his parent’s marriage destroyed because of something as insignificant. This realization was one that really helped him understand things a lot better and with a deeper sense.

***
As Draco stood with his wife Aleana at platform 9 ¾, he stood not only waiting for a son that would come home after a long year at Hogwarts, but also remembering what life at the school had been like for him.

In the six years that he’d attended; he had met new people, danced with his best girl-friend, made Potter’s life impossible, and attempted to murder the Headmaster.

He had been a Death Eater after that, for a while, and then when Potter rid them of the Dark Lord for good (it had been a spectacle to watch, the legendary duel that his son would for certain learn about in years to come). It had been a pretty interesting year for the Malfoy family.

Because that was what they now were—a family, happy, loving, together. He pulled his wife closer to him as the Hogwarts Express reeled to a screeching stop and Scorpius stepped out and made his way—running—toward his parents.

He remembered the last time he had been in that train, the last time he had been ‘with’ Pansy. She had come back, but then she had married Viktor Krum. But before she did so, she had done everything in her power to try to split him from Aleana.

Professor McGonagall had been right, Scorpius had taught him a lot, but not just over the Holidays, his son had taught him that family should be valued above all things and that being together meant more than getting in trouble or running out of potion ingredients.

As they walked out of the station and made their way toward Malfoy Manor, Draco was happy for the first time; his life after Hogwarts had turned out to be a pretty satisfying adventure.

Disclaimer: The characters (i.e. Draco, Scorpius, Lucius) in this story are JKR's as well as the locations (i.e Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, Madame Rosmerta's). The plot is my idea, however I do not intend to use this as a means of profit-making. The only original characters might be: Aleana, Miranda, the secretary. Thank you for reading
