In books 1-6 did Hermione's parents ever find out about all the dangers that happened involving her each year at Hogwarts? First year she had to help Harry save the sourcerer's stone/philosopher's stone, seond year she was actually petrified, third year supposedly (before anyone knew the truth) a mass murderer was after her best friend and whenever he was in danger so was she, fourth year LV came back, fifth year she fought death eaters at the ministry of magic, sixth year she fought death eaters again, this time at Hogwarts. Did her parents know any of this?! And if they did, why, as parents, did they allow her to return to Hogwarts and the magical world? I can see how Ron's parents would let him return as they're wizards and they know how to get to Hogwarts, etc. however Hermione's parents are muggles and they have no control over any magical situations and could not get to her to help her/save her. I'm wondering if Hermione's parents never knew of the dangers that happened each year at Hogwarts? Plus it also seems like Hermione never sees her parents! She's spend Christmas with the Weasleys since 5th year and part of the summer with them since 4th year...

Yes, that's acutally kinda weird.. I think they didn't know, maybe they've heard of her petrification [?] but I don't think they've ever know that she was fighting "evil". Maybe made her relation to the magicworld between her and her parents some sort of hole, because they didn't see eachother much and they didn't know much about magic. And then it might happen that you woun't miss your parents that much anymore.

I would think so. Remember when Hermione said to Harry at the end of the Chamber of Secrets 'Your Aunt and Uncle will be proud, though, won't they? When they hear what you did this year?'? That makes me think that she would, as she expected Harry too. And (as far as we know) she has a perfectly normal relationship with her parents, so I can't see why she wouldn't! It does make me wonder about whether Mr. and Mrs. Granger were happy about sending their child off to Hogwarts after hearing all about her adventures at Hogwarts, especially after she'ld been petrified.
I do agree also that Hermione seems to never see her parents, maybe after finding out about her magical abilities they didn't have that much left in common; Hermione said in the Order of the Pheonix something along the lines of 'A prefects something they'll be able to understand' so it seems to be Hermione might exasperated with her parents inability (not that it's their fault) to understand her life at school.

to be honest i think hermione becomes so accustomed to being with other wizards constantly coz it would be bit exciting for an 11 yr old to find out they are magic, that she grows to love it so much that she feels frustrated with muggle life, coz she is so ambitous
i think the adventures at hogwarts would kinda take her mind off the parentals and plus she works so hard too that her mind is not there... as for spending all xmases with weasleys etc she knows that they have exams each year in like five months which makes revision a matter of urgencey for hermione and knowing that ron distractes harry she makes sure they do at least some homework

Honestly, I think Hermione's parents had no clue what was going on. The school probably notified them when she was petrified, but I doubt Dumbledore made sure her parents knew she was risking her life every year. And I really can't picture Hermione going home and telling her parents. I think she probably would have told them when it was all over though.

For that matter, the school might have just told her parents that she was ill or something when she was Petrified.

I really don't think she told them very much. I have to say, if I was a parent and my child told me all the life-endangering things she was doing, especially if she was a witch and could use magic and I had no real knowledge of that world since I wasn't, I would NOT want my child going back into that environment! So I don't think Hermione's parents were really in the know at all.

I don't think Hermione and her parents were very close. They barely saw each other in the holidays, but even then she'd go to the weasley's or at christmas she would stay at Hogwarts. It would probably not be normal for her to tell her parents anything about what is going on at school, she probably thought that they would not understand!

I think Hermione's parents knew a little more than what has been said thus far. If you remember Hermione tells Harry that she's told her parents all about him and the wizarding world. Plus, if Hermione acts like Hermione around her parents, then she'd be bursting to tell them everything new in her life as a witch. Also, I think that Hermione's parents are a little more understanding about what Hermione is doing. They realize she is in a world that they don't understand; but instead of being immature about it and running away from it, they accept that there are things they won't know or understand. So I think that Hermione and her parents are close as any other family, it's just that both parties understand that there will be some things that the other party will not understand.

I have no doubt Hermione's parents knew what was going on. It would have been hard for her to hide anything from them. She would, as HJP said, be bursting to tell them as much as she could. I think her parents just give her a lot of freedom. They want her to be happy with her 'different' way of life, so they let her do what she wants. For the most part. I'm sure they were concerned at times, but they don't seem like the type who would make her stop going to Hogwarts. I think Hermione and her parents were very close even though her parents aren't mentioned much.
