Hello Snape Lovers!
This is the new thread for The Severely Obsessed Snape Society. I am workaholic_1231 (Ashley), the proud president of this wonderful society.
This club is open to anyone and everyone who adores our wonderful Potions Master, Severus Snape. Whether you're a fan of BookCanonSnape or MovieCanonSnape, you're welcome to share your thoughts in our discussions.
Of course, we can't forget the man who brought Severus to life in the movies, can we? Alan Rickman is also a main point in our discussions, so come one, come all, Alan fans!
The Society has a website that was created by our former president witchmom (Clara). That site can be found
here, and I highly suggest you take a look; it's got loads to offer!
Also, I've just created a shiny new
memberlist for everyone to reference to. The way that I put it together was by adding everyone who posted in the previous thread since October 1st, along with a couple others who have posted recently from Clara's list. I will be updating it regularly, but if your name isn't on there and you think it should be, just send me an owl.
S.O.S.S. is a proud affiliate of M.O.O.O.P., SPELL & WAWThroughout the year I will be sure that we have fun things to keep us all motivated to post, but there are two weeks that have to be aknowledged.
Snapeweek is the week of January 2nd - 9th where there are fun daily activities and challenges for members to do, all in celebration of Severus' birthday! For Alan's birthday we will have
Rickmania Week which runs from February 14th - 21st.
Here are the past couple of holiday questions that were asked in the previous thread:
- What do you think Severus would desire the most to receive as a Christmas present?
- If there was at least one thing in Severus' quarters that reflected the holidays, what would the object(s) be?
And, here are a couple more:
- As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got?
- What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?
Cheers to a new thread! Let's relax and enjoy the conversation!

Yay, we have a shiny new thread! It seems, Ashley, your goal was achieved much sooner than on the assigned deadline, right?

I will keep up the great tradition of elaborating on our beloved Potions Master and I’m jumping straight into answering the questions.
As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got? From what we know about Severus’s childhood, I would say that he longed for peace and love in his family the most. These are, of course, immaterial things but I’m convinced they would make boy-Severus incredibly happy. He would have loved his father to stop shouting and to accept magic as a normal part of their family life.
More on the material note, I think Severus wasn’t a child desiring a lot. Actually, he could have been satisfied with very little. Seeing how miserable his life as a child was, he would be content with anything that would make it at least slightly more bearable - for example some decent pieces of garment he wouldn’t have to be ashamed of.
What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?First, I think Severus decides to spend his Christmas at Hogwarts, not at Spinner’s End. After all, at Hogwarts there are still more people around, so he doesn’t feel that lonely like he would, being at his home. Another reason is that the people who stay at Hogwarts are usually people whose fates are not unlike Severus’s – their families might be malfunctioning and thus they prefer the school environment to the one at home for Christmas. In a way, this might be reassuring for Severus, being among people with whom he has at least a little in common. Yet another reason for Severus's preference for Hogwarts for Christmas is that he has his potions cabinet there and so he may spend the time working.
Which brings me to what he does at Christmas. I think he disregards the holiday completely. It is the time people are with their beloved ones and this only way too much reminds him of the fact that he is generally disliked and in addition doesn’t have anyone who loves or cares for him; and also that he has never had such a special someone. Thus, I imagine Severus spending majority of the Christmas time in his potions cabinet in the dungeons, engaging himself in potion making or inventions of some new spells. In other words, work will let him forget that it is the time when people express their affections for the others.
Great questions, Ashley! I’m looking forward to reading other answers.

Congrats Ash and the brightest light to you all, YuleSnapettes!!!
Let's go straight to the questions:
* What do you think Severus would desire the most to receive as a Christmas present?
I guess he isn't a greedy man, or a material man, but a very spiritual one, and elevated being... (even if this doesn't mean he can't feel physical desire for someone or something) so I think he would receive anything really "important" on a monetary level, but something full of significance and meaning...a portrait, an old book, something which belonged to a person he loved.
* If there was at least one thing in Severus' quarters that reflected the holidays, what would the object(s) be?
I'd say, I see him as a kind of free spirit, very close to nature and her manifestations for his ever changing temper. So I see him celebrating the winter solstice with some simple candles, a little branch of an evergreen plant, and homemade incenses (since he's so clever with herbs and oils).
And, here are a couple more:
* As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got?
I think lots of things, including a peaceful atmosphere at home. Respect from his schoolmates.
* What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?
I honestly think that for him, the date itself isn't important. I feel him as a superior mind that isn't trapped by social conventions. Maybe he is upset and cranky because he fears to be bothered more than usual when he simply wants to be left alone, resting or reading a book or going out for a walk in the snow...LOL I don't think he really likes Spinner's End. But, we don't really know with who he spends those holidays...
See you soon

What do you think Severus would desire the most to receive as a Christmas present?I think Severus would most likely to desire something like a book or potions ingredients or something regarding potions...Snape might also like something that make him remember old memories
As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got?As a boy i think he would have always longed for some love for a little bit of affection from someone but he never got that not from his parents and not from lily
What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?First of All i am sure severus wouldn't go back to Spinners End to see his parents argue or to be abandoned as Harry said Hogwarts have always been home for harry Severus and Tom Riddle the abandoned boys
I think for snape the holiday is like a sorrow when he watches others so Happy he would be sad that he didn't get that fortune and back when he was studying he would have send the whole christmas in his dorm thinking and reading and when he was teaching at the dungeons

As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got?I believe that Severus longed for a home life that deep down he knew he deserved. As far as tangible items go, I can imainge a young Severus always wanting a muggle Chemistry set. That's quite random, but for some reason I can just picture his eyes lighting up as a random chemical concoction began boiling.
What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?I agree that Severus probably stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays. He would try to lock himself away in his quarters, but Dumbledore would always manipulate him into joining the staff members for a celebration. He would sit in the corner and sulk, watching everyone else enjoy themselves, secretly wishing he could partake as well if his pride wouldn't be at stake.
-------
Since all of us are busy with our families for the holidays,
I just wanted to go ahead and wish everyone a
Merry Christmas!I hope everyone stays safe and happy!
Holiday hugs to my fellow Snapettes!

Wow Ashley, we have a new thread.
So as for the new holiday related questions. . .
As a boy, what do you think was that one present that Severus always longed for, but never got?It was definitely a happy family that he had been deprived of since he can remember. As for material things I don’t think that it really matters to him to have fabulous clothes or those sorts of richness, but would prefer a good book or a picture of his family as a happy one whenever that had happened in the past maybe he had been an infant yet or an unborn baby in the stomach of his mother or anything of some sentimentality.
What do you think Severus does on Christmas (whether he be at Hogwarts or at Spinner's End)?Just sulking in the dungeon and finishing checking those abysmal papers, but as Ashley said; Dumbledore will surely pull him out of his usual misery and joined the staff and students left at Hogwarts to celebrate Christmas.
I’ll be back on the 30th hoping to see this new thread going.
Again Congratulations Ashley on this new thread.
It’s the 26th here in my place but what the heck anyway.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Cheers!!!

Snape might also like something that make him remember old memories.
I assume you refer to his happy memories, such as his childhood with Lily. Here is something I am not sure he wants. I tend to think that he spends more time thinking about how he lost her than he does thinking about how he had her. That is one of the reasons he is so bitter. While I am certain he wishes he could always remember her fondly, he cannot because thinking of her inevitably leads him to think about how he messed up.
(Please note that I don't mean he blames Lily. He obviously thinks well of her and has nothing but admiration for her. Still, thinking of her causes him guilt.)

And now I'd like to wish everyone a
Happy Snapeweek!
Here is an icon that is
free for all to use as either their avatar or in their signatures to promote Snapeweek!
Here's the plan for the week:
Jan. 3rd - Letter writing
Jan. 4th - Regrets/Accomplishments
Jan. 5th - NEW fanfic challenge
Jan 6th - If you could... Questions
Jan. 7th - 100 words
Jan 8th - Painting a picture

Tonight and tomorrow I will be away because my Great-Grandmother is having some trouble right now, so unfortunately I won't be here to start Snapeweek proper in the morning. Thus, I will post again later on tonight before leaving to kick off the week.
Sound good everyone? I'm hoping that we can bring in lots of new members and some of those who have been hiding over in the corner instead of posting.

Hello fellow Snape-lovers!
Like the others, I am, too, excited about the Snapeweek, Ashley! As annesches says, particularly because it is my first one. I've seen the results from the last year's week and some of them are hilarious.

I'm really looking forward to it. And, I know this comes a bit late, but it's only the third of January today, so a Happy New Year to everyone!

Oh Clara! The site is wonderful! Thank you so much for taking the time to work through it all! Have I told you recently that I love you to death?!

I really appreciate it!
Elaine, no worries about coming out for the party, just as long as you have a blast during it!

Same goes to everyone! I really want to make this Snapeweek as fruitful as last years which includes everyone having a blast while participating, so please, have fun!
OK, just walked in the door and sat down to kick off Snapeweek. So, without further ado...
Day 1: Letter WritingWrite a letter to our dear Severus from the perspective of another character (No OCs and no, it can't be from you

). In this letter, include something that you feel that character always wanted to say to Severus.
Please feel free to pick any character, the more 'out-there' the funnier it will be for the rest of us!
Ready? Set? Go!

Now, I do believe it is January 3rd, right? Well, I'm 3 days overdue for announcing the Snape devotee of the month!
Congratulations to
Potions Mistress!
Your winning text was virtually the whole of
your obituary, but more specifically the last paragraph. It was very moving and makes this title well deserved! Congratulations and I will send your icon to your right away!
OK, time to go unpack my bags from last night, eh? I'll be back in a little while to post my feedback on today's task. Enjoy everyone!

Anyway! Better late then never!
Dear Professor S.S.S.S.S.S.S. Snape, (I do hope that I have enough S's)
My name is Xenophilus Lovegood (Luna's father.) I hear from my daughter that you are still using newt ad salamander eyes in your classrooms. Although I am sure that these are perfectly fine, I'm writing to tell you that the spleen from the Gwest Duncking Harptye is a much better subsitute as it has far more magical qualities than the eyes of mere amphibians. I know a man who breeds them in Darlington and I'm sure that I can get you a very reasonable price.
I hope that you will consider this offer, I hear from Luna that you are a very fine potion master.

Dear Severus.
Don’t worry, I won’t complain for your lack of consideration, nor for your incredible indifference, or for your attention that is, alas, never focused on me.
I won’t put any stress on the fact that although you’re such an interesting young man, you behave as you are invisible, or mysteriously chivalrous, or as you don’t deserve to be happy in this life.
How to say it… I’m pretty stuck with it!
I really would like to go out with a nice woman (or, with nice women), get drunk, drive a flying motorbike, spend my weekends in theatres and good dinners. I would like to get a tan in Hawaii, eat Italian, dress French. I would have friends, real friends, not those people who don’t even look in our direction when we’re in public. I could even…I could even adopt a certain green-eyed boy, in consideration of our common past.
But, I can’t do anything that you don’t want to do. Only you have the chance to decide upon your life, to make it better. It’s up to you, then.

Dear Sever. . .I mean Second Death Eater:
I am very happy with your contributions to the organization of late, and I am particularly impressed with your idea to give the Death Eaters code names to preserve anonymity. I have chosen numbers to keep things simple. Numbers are easier to remember. Though I do have trouble keeping up with how many of you there actually are. Perhaps if you guys could quit getting killed or sent to Azkaban that would be helpful.
But I digress. I am promoting you from Second Death Eather to First Death Eater, taking over Bellatr. . .I mean Previous First Death Eater's place. She was becoming rather attached to me, and I found it quite repulsing. She invited me over for pizza. I went out of respect for her loyalty, and she had the audacity to put mushrooms on my slice! I know! I cant believe it either!
She has made such a mess of my meal, not to mention her deplorable activity during that whole Department of Mysteries fiasco, that I have demoted her to Second Death Eater. That means you will have some new duties to attend to included, but not limited to, my weekly sponge bath, selecting one of my other Death Eaters to taste all of my food to make certain it is not poisoned (I have a few suggestions), along those same lines - cutting all of my meat for me, and singlehandedly overtaking Hogwarts which we shall discuss in more detail a bit later.
There have been many doubts cast upon your undying loyalty to me, and I do not want you to worry yourself about them. They mostly come from Bellatrix, as she has just been informed of her demotion. I think having to teach Draco some Occlumency has turned her bitter. No one can stand him. He whines.
I trust you implicitly, and I know that you would never, ever turn your back on me. It is preposterous to think of it! There has never been a more staunch and devoted Death Eater.
Incidentally, I am sending Wormtai. . .Death Eater 13 to live with you at your residence. He's to report to me about your, shall we say, extracurricular activities.
My fondest Regards,
Tom

Dear Profess- Professor Sn-Snape,

Dear Professor Snape,
I wanted to write you to tell you that I'm no longer afraid of you.
For three years now I've been mortified sensless of your presence whether it be in your classroom or in the halls.
When the days that I had Potions approached, I seriously considered taking some of the Weasley twin's products to make myself sick so I didn't have to go. After hours of mustering up courage, I would finally make my way to the dungeons only to be made to feel like a 'dunderhead' each time (or so you called me). It was embarassing to have to carry an extra pair of robes with me every other day... Not because of spilling, but because you scared the... well, you scared me.
A new revolution has just begun though. Today in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Professor Lupin taught us a lesson which has helped me realize the importance of facing you my fears. After seeing you (Boggart-you) in my Grandmother's clothing, I don't think that I will ever be scared to face you again.
Scared no more,

First off,
Congratulations to Jana for becoming December’s Snape devotee of the month, and you’re the first under Ashley’s rule, you really deserve it.
Hope you won’t mind my letter and bear with me as this is what I could only write:
Dear Professor Snape,
I’ve been delighted to congratulate my house for winning consecutively the Quidditch Cup and the House Cup for seven years now. It’s been a tough battle this year, the competition was tight, but as like the past years, the Gryffindors beats Slytherins. I’ve come to so much accustomed in seeing the shiny, shimmering, silver cups at my office, that hoping it would never again leave my desk. Would you care to come up to my office and bring those papers that needed for me to sign and while here you could visit the cups that I’m certain you’ve sorely missed.
I am looking forward to yet another year of great battle in the House Cup and the Quidditch matches.
Yours Sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
The letters are good, I have a great laugh; they really made my day lighter, as I’ve been stuck with so much work.
Happy posting guys!!!

Dear Severus,
I felt it was high time that I divulged my inner thoughts and desires to you.
For some time, I have been watching you from afar with growing hunger and desire. The way your greasy, black hair falls about your face and shoulders is enough to drive anyone mad! I want to run my fingers through that beautiful head of hair and stroke those rigid cheek bones.
And the way your cloak swishes as you walk by... simply enchanting. Purrrr.... Makes me want to rip it off (censored for the younger members), and then I want to (censored again for the younger members). Finally I want to take your (sorry, once again, censored for the younger members).
I know and accept that you don't and won't share my feelings. Please know I understand and know what your position is. I just felt I needed to tell you this before you go and kill me. I want the air clear so I can die a happy old man.
Please remember me when I'm gone, and know that I understand and accept the events that are about to go down. I have no ill feelings. If anything, I regret not telling you this sooner.
Take care my love.

First and foremost, thank you for selecting me as the Devotee of the Month, Ashley! And of course, also many thanks for the beautiful icon. I still can’t decide whether to use it in the avatar or siggy.

And thank you, annesches, for the congratulations. It feels good being officially a Devotee.

Now, on I go with the Snapeweek! What a fantastic holiday!
Before I post my little bit, I cannot resist praising those who have already done so before me.
Helen, your Xenophilius is absolutely charming! I can actually see him giving Severus the advice.
Clara, oh my goodness, that was not “stoopid” at all! It is a fantastic idea to show another part of Severus’s personality. Well now,
literally another, I mean.
Janet, how do you do it that I have always tears of laughter in my eyes while reading your texts? Now, I have a sort of dilemma which of your Voldemorts I like best - whether the one with fluffy bunny slippers, or the one having slips of pen in his letter. You have great sense of humor and an ability to transform in into a written form.
Aww,
Ashely, that is so sweet. I love when Neville is able to stand up for himself. Particularly the crossed out passages tell us how much he’s changed.
annesches, your Minerva is like we know her from the book, all over again. And yes, we cannot forget that those adults at Hogwarts are primarily teachers who, from time to time, simply have to go around their teaching duties (meaning papers) and can exercise genuine human glee.
Laura, I don’t see any single reason why SOSS wouldn’t have you. Your letter is great! It only shows how much desirable Severus actually is. I also love your censorship.

And now, finally, for my letter. It’s not nearly as good as yours, but I tried. I think it can be read as a Howler.
Dear Severus,
or should I rather write, you completely unreliable, irresponsible careless library-goer? Yes. That’s exactly who you are!
Pray tell, how many years ago is it that you borrowed Advanced Potion-Making
by Libatius Borage, never ever bothering to return it back? Were you counting on me not noticing that the book was missing
from the library for whole two decades? I might have not spotted it then. But I most definitely did now!
I guess you’ve been pretending all those years that the book was yours.
Or even better, you stored it in the corner cabinet in your dimly lit dungeon classroom and kept borrowing it generously to the students as if it actually was
yours. Am I right?
But what is even worse, I know your habits. I know them so well like I know my books. You write
in books! Don’t you? I even don’t want to imagine what the poor Advanced Potion-Making
looks like after it’s been in your “possession” for so long.
I’m expecting you to call on me tomorrow at nine o’clock sharp with the copy in question under your arm. Otherwise… Well, I know some of the fine hexes, too.
With love,
Irma Pince***
I'm looking forward to reading other people's posts of the second day's challenge. So, post ahead, fellow Snapettes!

Day 2 is "Regrets and Accomplishments"
His main regret would, probably obviously, be his severed relationship with Lily. That one haunted him all his life. Perhaps he regretted becoming a Death Eater, but I somehow doubt it. He regretted delivering the half prophecy message to Voldemort, but that also ties into Lily!
Accomplishments: Well, it takes a heck of a lot of courage to be a spy
and get to be First Death Eater, don't you know! He finally got to teach DADA. He got to be the Headmaster, even if it was shady. He almost got that Order of Merlin. Because I'm sure that's every Death Eater's dream: to be recognized for their service to muggles.

Day 1
Headmaster Severus Snape-
It is with the greatest of pleasure I saw the announcement of your appointment as the new Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I offer my congratulations and wish you the best. The changes you can bring will develop formidable students to the new order.
It is my wish that you consider my son, Vincent Crabbe, to be named a prefect for the new school year. He has learned much from his long friendship with Draco Malfoy and is a very popular and well known among your students. I’m certain he will become an outstanding wizard and will excel given the title and privileges of a prefect.
Till the next summoning,
Jaclynne Crabbe
Day 2
Regrets - Not getting James and Sirius expelled! Life would've been so much different if he pulled that one off.
Accomplishments – Working for DD. Tricky work keeping it hidden for so long.
Hi Snapettes - put me on the SS fanlist. I was delighted to see my one-shot on the site!

Regrets:Well, Janet beat me to the ones that came immediately to mind.

So, even though it's pretty similar, choosing the path of a Death Eater over Lily. If he had chosen Lily, things would have been quite different. Like Janet said, turning over the prophecy-once again, things would have been quite different. Maybe, he regrets allowing James to get the better of him all those times, let alone letting James get under his skin. Oh, and her may regret taking Sirius' bait and going to the Shrieking Shack. If he hadn't, James wouldn't have had the opportunity to save his life.
Accomplishments:Well, his ability to play both sides without LV catching his true motives. Considering LV is such an accomplished Legilimens (sp), it takes an equally strong, if not stronger, Occli. to hide his certain, secret thoughts from him while allowing others thoughts and memories to be seen. I'm sure he values his skill at Potions. Like Janet said, he finally got to teach DADA, even if it was only for a year and ended so badly.
Well, that's all I can tihnk of. I'm sure someone else can dig up some more.

Accomplishments: Becomming DADA teacher. Double crossing Voldemort. Having loved at least once in his life.

Firstly, I hope everyone had a brilliant Christmas

I know I did

and I also hope everyone had a brilliant start to the new year.
Yeah new thread

Yeah! Snapeweek

And the first task is
…but wait…
A congratulations is in order…Well done
Potions Mistress! for wining Snape devotee of December

Well earned
Now for the tasks…
Day 1: Letter Writing--Write a letter to our dear Severus from the perspective of another character (No OCs and no, it can't be from you ). In this letter, include something that you feel that character always wanted to say to Severus.
Please feel free to pick any character, the more 'out-there' the funnier it will be for the rest of us!Dear Severus Snape,
My feelings of your loyalties have never been unheard off. Needless to say that you despised me as I at times despised you. You were my least favourite teacher. But that aside, I now realise why you hated me so and I want you to know that I do not blame you as you can’t help how you felt about my mother. I know you would find it hard to forgive but could you possibly ever forgive my father for everything he did, he was young and he changed, I’m sure that he is disgusted at what a bully he was now. You may still hate him and me but I do not hold such prolonged grudges and I shall remember you forever and everything you did to help me even though it was not for me.
Signed,
Harry Potter (Aged 19)Day 2: Regrets and Accomplishments--Sum up Severus' regrets and accomplishments as best as possible.
You can touch on the huge things or dig deep for little things... it's up to you!Regrets- --Calling Lily a ‘mudblood’
--Never asking Lily out
--Joining Voldemorts side
--Trusting that Voldemort would spare Lily
Accomplishments---Escaping his parents
--Being a very convincing ‘double agent’
--Got to teach Defence against the Dark Arts
--Devolving a very loyal filled relationship with Dumbledore
PS- I am making another Snape and Lily video and I will post on YouTube when it is done:D

Before elaborating on Severus yet again today, let me say,
vortext, that the last line of your letter got me laughing so hard, I couldn’t stop for several minutes.

Also, welcome back among the SOSS members!
Great job,
Elaine!

I’m actually sorry for poor Filch now, you portray him so well.
Many thanks,
Sabrina_Rose_Snape, for your congrats. As for your letter, oh my, nothing has touched the HP side of me so much in days. I'm sure, that’s exactly what Harry must have felt after seeing the memory.
Day two: Regrets and AccomplishmentsThe huge things have already been mentioned previously and there’s no point in me repeating them. Thus, I will go rather along more subtle issues. I most certainly agree with you that what you've mentioned
are the greatest regrets and accomplishments of his life, but there were many more of them, albeit smaller or different.
Regrets:I think in the last year of his life, Severus must have regretted dearly that he hadn’t come earlier and prevented Dumbledore from destroying Marvolo’s ring. Had he come, Dumbledore wouldn’t have inflicted the slow death upon himself and would have remained the only friend and companion Severus had.
Immediately preceding his death, he also most probably regretted that he wasn’t able to fulfill Dumbledore’s order of telling Harry about the Horcrux. I know that he did it in the end through the memory, which is rather indirect way, though. I think his sense for exactness and carrying out orders flawlessly would love to tell Harry in person.
Accomplishments:Apart from his great knowledge (Potions, Defense against the Dark Arts, Occlumency etc.), a career in academia (teacher of Potions, DADA, Hogwarts Headmaster) and his spying skills, Severus's another accomplishment lies in the emotional area and is characterized by the one word:
Always. Not everyone can be as consistent in their affections with the same intensity for the whole of their lives.
And emotions yet again. Though Severus had always projected the image of a hard impenetrable shell on the outside, he was so much capable of emotions. This ability is demonstrated only by two incidents in his life, yet both of them are so highly charged with emotions and pure human feelings. The first one is the picture of Severus being
utterly torn after learning about Lily’s death. The second one, then, is him being
appalled by Dumbledore’s plan for Harry’s death. Though both of them are connected rather with his failures/regrets, I see them as expressions of his accomplishment. The accomplishment of being capable of deep emotions. Despite his unhappy childhood, not much happier years at Hogwarts and then his Death Eater career, the ability to
feel hadn’t died in him and he was capable to show it, though on stealth and only to Dumbledore, till the end of his life.

Vortext, glad to have you back in SOSS! I'll be sure to add your name to the memberlist right away! Your letter was wonderful! It sound just as I would imagine Crabbe's mother to attempt to persuade having her son a prefect.
Elaine, I can't stop laughing! LOL! That was hilarious!! At least he spelled his own name right, that's a relief.
Lauren, your letter seems like exactly the thing that Severus would want to hear before passing away which would set him at ease. It was very good! I can't wait for your Snape/Lily video.
Everyone has such wonderful Regrets and Accomplishments! I will be back in a little while to add my share in, but for now I'm trying to finish post number one for the fanfic tomorrow.
I extend lots of thank yous and hugs out to all of you for participating so far! It's only Day 2, but it seems to be exrtemely successful!

yay!! Snapeweek.. was it a whole year ago that we last did this?! Im truely befuddled...
Day 1.. Ok.. I couldn't resist- I did two, the first being the serious one and the second being.. well.. less serious
1. A letter written by Dumbledore and delievered to Severus after Albus' death
Severus,
Time is short and there are so many things that I fear I must leave unsaid.
What I will say, is that I appreciate all that you have done for wizards everywhere, for the order, and for me. I know that times have been immeasurably hard for you and I find It impossible to express in words how grateful I am for everything that you have done.
All I can say is that I trust you, Severus.
I know some believed that I gave my trust out too easily, but you know different.
Don’t be guilty Severus, and never lower your head; it deserves to be held high.
One day I will see you again, but until then- Live, Severus.
Your friend,
Albus2. hehe...
To my dear, wonderful Severus,
It has been too long since we last met, and I find the days agonizing without you here beside me. I know that you turned away from me, but I also know that you think of me still. I know you love me, and I know you dream of me how I dream of you.
The problems between us... the magic, the distance and the years; they are of no consequence- not when we are in love.
Please my dear Severus, break away from your hellish life and wrap your arms around me, we can drink tea and eat some of the prawn and ginger cake that I made just the other day- I know it is your favourite!
Please, come back to me soon, do what you have longed for, for so very long.
All my love,
Your sweet Arabella Doreen Figg
PS... Crumbles misses you (she is the tabby)**********
Ahh I have to go.. I will try and do day 2 asap..

Clara, what a perfect contrast in your two letters! I particularly love the first one. I think that's what Dumbledore would actually really say to Severus. You got Dumbledore so well - all his wisdom and peace with life is much apparent in this little letter. And I'm more than convinced that Severus
deserves this appreciation. Thank you for giving it to him.
It literally hurts reading,

Aw Clara! Those were great! I can't help but snicker at Figg's letter. Can you picture Snape living with a household of cats... Too funny.
OK, here is my input for Day 2.
Regrets
I imagine that the way that he treated Harry would always bother him. He couldn't help but be bitter with the boy because of his being James' son, but at the same time, he would regret how that would make Lily feel. In truth he was doing a lot to help Harry, but everything was undercover.
Also, trying to show empathy brings me back to what we know about his childhood. Not being able to stand up for his mother more and console her would probably be enough to drive a young boy mad, and since we all know that Severus holds grudges, he would probably never let himself forget that.
Accomplishments
My main point I wanted to make with this was already covered by Elaine.

The fact that Severus loved once in his life was probably a huge accomplishment for him. I bet, while growing up, he would've heard a lot about never landing love, but he managed to overcome that.
Plus, of course, being such a successful double agent is a true accomplishment as well. Overtaking the Dark Lord (although I guess he technically didn't get to see it happen... but I don't doubt that in his heart he knew that the end would approach) and overcoming just some of what made him a poor miserable soul would probably leviate a lot of weight off his chest.
Looks great guys! I think that for the new fanfic challenge tomorrow, I'm going to post the opening bit tonight. Tomorrow my family is throwing a birthday party for me, and I don't want to miss posting it in case things get too hectic.

So, if you don't see me posting my own bits in the fic, not to worry, I will as soon as I can catch a breather from a full house.
Ashley
EDIT: (many, many hours later) OK, I just finished up with the collaborative, so I'm ready to kick off Day 3 (regardless of it being 2 a.m. here).
Day 3: Collaborative FicOf course the story doesn't have to be finished by the end of Snapeweek, it can go on forever if need be!
This is a chance for all of us Snapettes to put our heads together and create a fanfic!
The thread has been set up, but I really wish that you would look at the feedback thread first before posting in the actual fanfic.

Hello guys,
Wow, it’s only hours since I last visited, but a lot of people had posted, can’t help smiling (glee) that lots of you love Severus.
Jana, Madam Pince haven’t actually seen the potion book, I just can’t imagine her reactions when she saw what had happened to the whole book, she must’ve fainted.
Clara, the second letter was hilarious, Arabella can’t get enough of Snape and all she could do is only to dream of him for the rest of her life. haha
Guys, I can’t control myself, I just kept on smiling all day since yesterday reading all your posts. Thanks for giving a lot of reasons for me to smile lately.

Hi Jana, I am not disagreeing with you but rather thought otherwise, hope you won’t mind.
I think that he had fulfilled it precisely what Dumbledore had ask him to do about when to tell Harry about the Horcrux. Dumbledore said to Severus to tell Harry about him being a Horcux (or rather a part of the soul of Voldemort transferred to him that fateful night Voldemort tried to kill him and only in him dying could Voldemort be totally finished) only when Voldemort was protecting and not delegating any work to his snake, Nagini, anymore. At the moment when he finally learned about Nagini, it was then that Voldemort was about to kill him. I think that in a way his way of giving the memory to Harry was the best way, it was for Harry to trust him immediately and understand the whole situation perfectly. At the very end Severus had achieved what he must do and did it perfectly.
For today’s activity:
Regrets:All of you had already mentioned the regrets of Severus in his life, well done, and please bear with for repeating.
The regrets of his life must’ve been the time when he had called Lily a “mudblood” and of telling Voldemort the prophecy. The first brought the end to their friendship and the possible development of romantic relationship while the second brought the end to the life of his one true love.
Accomplishments:I must agree with you Jana that once in his life he had loved someone so deeply and still loved her until the very last breath of his life was his greatest accomplishment.
I think that aside from being a consummate a spy, killing Dumbledore was his other great accomplishment, not because he had killed the greatest wizard of the time but because a friend had pleaded to end his life rather than to be fallen in others’ hands. Not a lot of people can do what he had done, especially if that person was the only one that trusted him without a doubt and that understand him fully.
p.s. the time zone is quite different from your place and here at mine but anyways here’s mine hope you have fun reading (it’s not much) because I do in reading your posts.

Hello everyone! You did a great job writing those letters. I was really laughing out loud! I liked the things you explained as regrets and accomplishments. They fit really well. I think not even JKR could have said it better.
Just a small add from me, since you covered all :
Regret: he doesn't get to kiss Lily in the books
Accomplishment: he gets to kiss her in our fanfictions (at least in my future fan fic)

Letter
Dear Severus
I am writing this letter on behalf of the dark lord...we have a death eater meeting tonight i thought using the dark mark would be dangerous when you are around the muggle loving fool Albus Dumbledore..urgent we meet....
Faithfull servant
Wormtail
On behalf of the greatest sorcerer in the world...THE DARK LORD...
Regrets
i think severus regretted the joining of the dark side on the first place and that was the reason he was pulled away from lily and other regret is calling lily a mud blood....whether or not it was done on Albus's orders he still regretted murdering Albus
Accomplishments
I am sure Severus would have found making Harry s life miserable an accomplishment as James did for him...and also being loyal to Dumbledore and Lily would have been an accomplishment too and also betraying the person who killed Lily Potter was an accomplishment too and working till his mission was completed was an accomplishment too...BUT IN MY OPINION SEVERUS'S GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IS HIS ABILITY TO LOVE AND MASTER OCCLUMENCY AND LEGILLEMENCY AND GAIN THE TRUST OF THE TWO GREATEST LEGILEMENS KNOWN BY WIZARD KIND...AND NONE KNEW THAT HE WAS BETRAYING THEM OR NOT..IN MY OPINION SEVERUS BECAME THE ONE GREATEST OCCLUMEN SEEN BY WIZARD KIND

Good answer, Master of Death!
The fanfic seems to really be going at this point, so head over and check it out!
Day 4 - 'If you could' Questions
This challenge is where the first person (me) asks an 'if you could('ve)' question to Severus. The next person answers the question (from Severus' point of view) and asks another. The chain goes on and on until I give the next challenge.
I thought this sounded fun because it really allows everyone to put themselves in Severus' head.
Severus, if you could've come back from the dead to tell one person something, who would that person be and what would you tell them? Oh, and you can be asking alive!Severus or dead!Severus.

Enjoy!

Jan 6 2008, 08:44 PM
Yay! Another challenge. Let’s see what I can come up with.
Severus, if you could've come back from the dead to tell one person something, who would that person be and what would you tell them?I would come back to talk to the little Potter’s kid. The one named after me. Though I think it’s a rather stupid idea to name one’s kids after teachers, but anyway. I think I would tell him not to be afraid of being a Slytherin. It doesn’t matter in which house one is. People can make mistakes because of the acquaintance they make there, and they may regret the mistakes dearly, too. Yes. But when one is strong and knows what is right and what is wrong, there is no need to be worried about being
even a Slytherin, whatsoever.
Severus, if you could give Occlumency lessons to Potter again, would you do something differently than you did in Potter’s fifth year? What would that be and why?Enjoy!

Good answer, Jana. I think little Albus Severus would love to meet one of his name sakes. And great question, let's see what I can do with it.
Severus, if you could give Occlumency lessons to Potter again, would you do something differently than you did in Potter’s fifth year? What would that be and why?
Absolutely not! I did all I could for the conceited brat. I've taught others in the exact same fashion that I tried to teach Potter, and they had no problems. It's not my fault Potter is an insufferable moron. Besides, the question is rather irrelevant because I'd never try again, I don't think there is anything anyone can do for the kid when it comes to the noble art of Occlumency.
Severus, if you could spend the entire day alone with someone special, who would it be, what would you do and why?

HAHA, Dayna, I actually scrolled past your post because I thought it was mine (the Snapeweek avatar). Just goes to show that I should probaly sleep now and again, eh?
Severus, if you could spend the entire day alone with someone special, who would it be, what would you do and why?I'm torn between two answers. I long to spend any time with Lily; time to make up for all of my wrongdoings and time to apologize. However, I feel like I owe is to Albus as well. The man who saved me from myself deserves more than just my time, he deserves an apology and an eternity of gratitude for putting up with me, my solicitudes, and my complaints. A days worth of time does no justice on what I owe both of them.
Severus, if you could come back for one day to do something you've always wanted to do, what would it be?
Tomorrow I will be posting the next challenge before I go back to school. It will be quite early here, so I apologize if someone doesn't get to join in on today's challenge because of time difference.

It's the fourth activity, I'm glad I could join.
Severus, if you could come back for one day to do something you've always wanted to do, what would it be?
I would get in the Ministry of Magic and get my Order of Merlin First Class which had been delayed for so long much and be the Minister of Magic for a day. Then I would have the authority again and Harry Potter would be under my command for that moment and for the first time we would work along in perfect harmony. Then at the end of the day I would go back to Hogwarts, first I would visit the tomb of Albus Dumbledore then get on to join dinner at the staff table and make some advice and comments (or rather snide and smirks) for the staff and students. Afterwards I would visit the office of the Headmaster and look at my portrait there hanging along with the past headmasters and headmistresses. Before the night falls I would go and visit the grave of Lily and sat there until I vanish yet again.
So here's mine. . .
Severus, if you could talk to Harry Potter in perfect health after you have discovered about Nagini, how would tell him about him being a Horcrux and for him to have full confidence in you?
I promise I would post in the fanfic as soon as I have the time haven't got the time read your posts yet. Sorry.

Beautiful answer, annesches!
And yet another great question to answer.
Severus, if you could talk to Harry Potter in perfect health after you have discovered about Nagini, how would you tell him about him being a Horcrux and for him to have full confidence in you?
I guess, I would have to freeze him the way Albus did on the top of the Astronomy Tower, for the little brat has never listened to any advice I was to give him. In this way, he couldn’t have otherwise but listened to my story. Once being told, he could take it or leave it. If he didn’t believe me, that would be entirely his fault.
Nay, I’m just kidding. Wouldn’t spend my spells on him. *smirks at his own joke* I think I would just tell him that I have an important piece of information concerning his soul and the one of the Dark Lord. What might silence his protests and disbelief would be that I know this from Dumbledore. That the only way for the Dark Lord to be vanquished is that the part in Potter’s soul died by the hand of the Dark Lord himself.
I think I have better chances to be believed when I show him that not even I was trusted with all the secrets by Albus. And I don’t think I would delve into that bit about Lily just yet. I can imagine that, “And Potter, just incidentally, I’ve been madly in love with your mom for the whole of my life.” For Merlin’s sake, he would surely believe that! *shakes head in disbelief* And anyway, there wouldn’t have been time for such discussions. Like I’ve said, he could take it or leave. If we both survive the battle, I might consider telling him more, knowing what a nosey brat he’s always been, he would pester me with questions anyway.
Severus, if you could relive the conversation you had with Lily by the entrance of the Gryffindor common room about you calling her a Mudblood, would your answers to her be different now? How?
