Who was taking care of Crookshanks and Pigwidgeon during the quest for Horcruxes? Pigwidgeon was probably taken care of by Ron's family...But what about Crookshanks? I'm pretty sure they didn't accompany the trio on the journey because it's not like Harry, Ron and Hermione could stick them in Hermione's beaded bag as well as worry about feeding them and keeping them safe...

Hmmmmm... thats funny... i never thought of that!! Well, maybe Hermione's family took care of Crookshanks. Just because they thought they didnt have a daughter, doesnt mean they forgot about the cat too!

lol. But that is probably the most logical explanation because its like you said, its not like they could carry them around with them!

i never thought of that either now that you mention it because i know they didnt bring crookshanks with them because there is never any mention of him anywhere and also what would have happened to him when harry ron and hermione were caught by the snatchers and brought to the malfoy mansion because they had to leave everything and they never got ny of it back i would have thought that crookshanks and pigwideon were both kep by the weaslys' because hermione's parents' memory was wiped of any recollection that they had a daughter and crookshanks was bought bby hermione for hogwarts so it makes sense they forgot about crookshanks too

Yeah I agree with you harrypotterandginnyforlife because they would associate hermione and crookshanks together.
Of course they wouldnt carry crookshanks around, it would be dangerous, and really... how dumb would you have to be to take your cat on a quest to kill Voldy?

That's also probably the reason why Rowling killed off Hedwig. It would be much too complicated to keep tabs on a pet while fighting the war against Voldemort.
Yeah I agree with everyone else, Crookshanks was probably with Hermione's parents, and Pigwidgeon with the Weasley family.

I also agree with everyone else. I thought about it before and I had always wondered where they were and why they were never mentioned. I wish JKR wouldn't have killed Hedwig but as a lot of people said, it would be too much trouble to have a pet while you are on a dangerous mission. I think that if JKR hadn't killed off Hedwig then she would have probably stayed with the Weasleys.

i don't think that the word CROOKSHANKS was ever in DH but..that's just me, i think.
yeah, maybe crookshanks was in the care of Hermione's parents.

I guess I agree with everyone else. I definitely agree about Pig staying with Ron's family, but I'm not so sure about Crookshanks. I would think that Ron's family would take care of her, because wouldn't the Granger's be suspicious about having a cat? I mean, they forgot about their daughter, who owned the cat, so wouldn't they forget about the cat too? If not they would wonder how they got a cat. But I'm not sure.

Well the natural conclusion that I come to is that Pigwidgeon was taken care of by Ron's family. Since they've had obvious experience with taking care of owls, being a magical family that has most likely had many owls over the years.
Crookshanks however is a cat, and doesn't really 'need' any special care outside of that attainable at a local pet store. When Hermione charmed her parents into believing that they were off to live in Australia, it's highly plausible that she also charmed them into believing that they have had a cat.
It would be logical for hermione to do this because she undoubtably realized that using Crookshanks would be a little too risky, as far as intercepting letters go. It was just a matter of time before the ministry fell, and when it did Voldemort and his followers gained the ability to search any transport animal as they saw fit. Therefore putting crookshanks within the probability of being searched.

I always figured that Hermione left Crookshanks with her parents and Ron left Pigwidgeon at home. Maybe Ginny took him to Hogwarts with her. She seemed to like the tiny owl a lot.
I wonder if JK Rowling thought about that while she was writing Deathly Hallows. Even if she did, it isn't that important to the plot.

Crookshanks was at the burrow. He was mentioned during one of the chapters when they were still at the burrow.

I think that like Pig Crookshanks was also being looked after by the weasleys. Hes been there before and he enjoys running after the gnomes. The weasleys would have been happy to look after him for Hermoine.

haley123 is right. It says so while the trio is at the burrow that crookshanks is there. They never really mention him again, but I'm fairly positive crookshanks was at the burrow

Yeah Hermione could have just added at the end of her memory charm: By the way, you have a cat called Crookshanks and you have looked after him all of your life (: solves the problem nicely (:
But then again if Crookshanks was at the Burrow then i'm sure the Weasleys would have looked after him
