What do you guys think of the new fan videos section on the main site? Some of them are absolutely amazing to me... In Jessie's video, the clips are perfectly timed with the lyrics, and Jess's "My Immortal" video even made Hermione/Draco look convincing! My favorite one is probably "I'm Ready." It makes Hermione look like such a great character. Did any of you make videos? Which ones are your favorites?

First, exscuse me for my poor english, I'm a french student (very bad in English ) so I'll probably make lot of mistake.

So, I love particulary I'm Ready for the song and I look for informations about the singer Angela Michaels (if it's her, but apparently it's). I've found nothing about her or the song and I don't know, maybe she isn't famous but if someone knows something about her, can he help me ?

well there were 3 fan vids that i liked that were not up there but someone from the forums had made them. i like those the best (no offense to anyone) but they werent up there. oh wel i did like the D/Hr onrs alot. it is really convincing.

my favorite ones are the first two I'm Ready (the hermione one.. YAY! ) and You Gotta Be... I love that song! I didn't get to see all of the other ones, but I also liked the Ron/Hermione ones!

After watching those, I have been trying to find more sites that feature fanmade videos, but it is too difficult.

Have you guys seen the 'Miss Independent' video? That one is quite good.

I made two of my own, but I don't know where to upload them and such.

That section is great i like the Ron/Hermione section its great, I really like the video of *At the Beggining* the lyrics are so cute, I love it!

I also liked "At the Beginning" I know that song by heart because it's from the Anastasia soundtrack. I must wacthed that movie 100 times. I like Unwell to, I love Macthbox 20, they're other song Mad seson would make for a great vid too. I wonder if we could request. Becuase there's this one song I think would be prefect.

RG's Babe -- do you have a link for the videos that you like that aren't on the site? I'd like to watch; I've been having a lot of fun with them, although I am not good enough at making movies to do my own just yet... Wednesday_Adams, I'd like to see your videos too! Why can't you get them up on the site? I'm not sure if I've watched the "Miss Independent" video yet... I'm going to see it again tonight. Which songs do you think would be good, Amyrat? People would probably like to have song requests -- I personally think that getting a good song for a non-"ship" video is the hardest part. There are too many songs about love out there!

Of course I must resurrect this thread today, since 34 new videos were added to the fanmade videos section. I haven't watched all of the new ones yet and no doubt will be returning to this thread as I continue to spot good ones, but as of now, my favorites of the new videos are "Save Ginny Weasley," "Holding Out for a Hero," and "Perfect World." Jessie and SAI both have good timing and coordination between the lyrics and the clips, which I continue to believe is a crucial aspect of a good video. I also absolutely loved Linda's "Only You." The juxtaposition of the animation and the clips from the Harry Potter movies was a nice touch as a thematic device and it also was a refreshingly unique idea (most R/Hr videos show the pair of them holding hands in Prisoner of Azkaban, H/Hr videos show the hug in Chamber of Secrets, etc., etc., but this was something a little different). Keep up the good work, guys... I always look forward to watching the new fanmade videos, and I have yet to be disappointed by what I see!

I made the one called "Margaret" It wasn't the final edition. I wasn't happy with some of the transitions but I sent in my final but it didn't get posted so I don't know ha ha. I tried to make it with clips that didn't show their mouths moving. I don't know, but for me, it looks funny when people's mouths are moving but they're not saying anything. I mean I know they are but since they're music overlayed ontop it looks funny.

Has anyone noticed that the Fan Videos section of the website has been down for like two weeks? I wasn't sure if it was just me at first so I asked a couple different people to check and sure enough, it's just not working. It keeps showing an error when I go to it, saying that the page isn't on the server. I just submitted my first video to VTM like two days before the page went down. Hopefully their just updating the page or something, but whatever is going on, I hope they give us an update soon.

I've finished my first video (all about Harry) and like I said, I submitted it to VTM. It's like 6 minutes long and it's set to Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams and it's title is The Road to Destiny. I've just started my second video and that one is all about Hermione. I won't give a ton of details about the new on just yet, but if you saw my other video, you'll definitely notice a difference in the graphics and quality. Road to Destiny had a more gritty feel to it -- afterall, Harry's life hasn't exactly been paved with marshmallow's has it? The grit fits in the Harry video, but Hermione's video is smoother and more meticulous (sounds like Hermione already, don't it? hehe)

Let's hope we get an update on the fan videos page soon, eh?

Aw, that's too bad. Much as I love you all on the forums, the fan videos has to be my favorite part of the site. I have so much fun watching them, but I think I've got all my favorites saved to my sister's computer at this point so I won't have to pine for that page too much. Any chance that we'll have some updates for our viewing pleasure when the server comes back to life? I feel like there haven't been any new ones in ages!

I wish I could say that I make videos... but alas, no. My friend and my sister make nice HP videos (and some other stuff, too), but I'm more the watching type. I tried to make one once (this was a while ago, when the fan videos section was new to VTM) and it quickly became clear that I have absolutely no sense of rhythm so far as synchronizing the clips with the music is concerned. How many of them have you made, HermioneNymphadora? What program do you use?

Three more days until the server returns... I'm hoping for some updates...

Oohh....I'm absolutely obsessed with those fan videos...I gotta say my favorites are the "Mr. Brightside" one, and Ocean Avenue....I play those over and over and over again....

Hey Anthony Goldstein! Long time no see! I've only completed one video so far -- I started doing this about a month ago. I spent 4 days making the first video. I've just started on my second video, which is all about Hermione. It's set to a Patrick Doyle song (although not one from any of the HP films; it's from Great Expectations with Gwenyth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke). This one is going to take me longer because I'm adding some special effects and the program I need to do it isn't available to me right now so I have to wait for a CD to be mailed to me. However, for the actual video making, I use Sony Vegas 6. I tried using the Windows Movie Maker, but it wasn't really my style so I got something else. I'm sure the video you tried to make was really good but you were just being too hard on yourself. I look at my video now and I think "Oh, I should have done this there and that there and oh I shouldn't have put that there", but if I don't stop, I'll drive myself batty! hehe I can't wait for the video page to start working again. I hope they added new videos (hopefully mine is one of them! hehe).

Hey, guys! The fan-made videos page is working again! I don't see any new videos, though. Has anyone who sent in their video ever gotten a response from VTM letting you know that they are going to post your video? Or otherwise that they aren't going to? When I first emailed about my video, I had only one way for them to download it (I couldn't email it directly because my email client doesn't allow me to send/receive files over 10MB) but now I have three ways for them to download it. Maybe now with more options, they'll be more inclined to download it. Oh, I don't know! Maybe they just won't download it from a free file hosting website. I mean, how else am I suppose to get it to them? I know that I'm not the only one who can't send large files via email. Oh well! Let's hope they add some more videos soon (mine or otherwise). Who agrees? hehe

Is it still not working for you, Sofie? It wasn't working for me earlier today (I was getting the same "This page cannot be found" message that it seems you're getting), but it just suddenly started loading normally within the past hour. Hmm... are you clicking directly on the link or something? If that's what you're doing, try a right mouse click and "Save target as..." instead. Maybe that will do the trick. If not, I'd say it's time to PM or e-mail the good old tech support (aka Darren).

I'm really bummed that there are no new updates, at any rate -- I'm sure there will be soon enough, but I can only watch my favorites (that are permanently saved to my desktop) over and over so many times, you know? And yeah, I think yours will be up eventually, HermyNymph. I've never submitted a video, obviously, but my friend has one on VTM -- I'll ask her whether they sent her an e-mail about it, but I don't remember her mentioning it to me. It was so funny when you said that it's good to see that I'm still alive and around. It made me think of that old Frankenstein movie where the professor/doctor/whatever he was says, "It's alive! It's alive!". I've been a bit busy, I suppose. I'm glad to see that the videos page is finally up and running. I don't know if they do email and let you know if they're going to add your video or not, but when I emailed them again, I just asked that they do so that I don't drive myself nuts, checking all the time to see if it was LoL

I think it would be good if they just outlined what the procedure was for submitted videos, getting yours accepted and what standards that use to determine which videos they allow. Like what the maximum file size is, the lyrical content (like any bad words, for instance) and what not. I think more people would be inclined to make the videos if they laid out the guidelines. That's just my idea LoL (I sort of have the same idea for the comments boards -- I mean, do we actually know what the rules are there? hehe)

I'm glad VTM has a videos page because a lot of other HP sites (which shall remain nameless LOL) don't have those, which is too bad because they're so much fun! I like seeing how other people interpret (spelled wrong, I'm sure) the HP stories.

By the way, I am nearly finished with my Hermione video -- I just need to get a couple specific clips that I haven't been able to find yet (one of them being from COS where Hermione takes the Polyjuice Potion and she turns into a cat instead of Milicent Bulstrode) and I need to add some of the special effects that I want. I've never used special effects before, but I'm trying this time.

I have also decided to make another Harry video, but this one is meant to be funny. Like a spoof almost. I'm using a song that people make fun of all the time but the lyrics really match the story -- it's going to be hilarious. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

Hello everyone!

I know we're not suppose to double post but the last time I posted was back in October so I don't think I'll get in any trouble for it -- I think it's meant to prevent people from spamming the forums and clearly that's not what I'm doing so I hope it's all okay.

That being said, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come back with a new video, but at long last, I have. It's called "HEADSTRONG" (the caps are part of the title) and it chronicles all of Harry's battles with Voldemort. All his battles seem to stem from Voldemort (Professor Quirrel, the Basilisk with Tom Riddle, the Dememtors and Voldemort himself, not to mention a lot of other stuff that has gone on). This video has a more aggressive feel than any of my other videos. The song I chose is called "Heastrong" and it's by the band TRAPT -- it's a heavy metal band (hence the aggressiveness). However, even if you're not a metal fan, you will still like the video because I believe everything in it is very true to how JKR describes them in the books. It may be a song you've heard before and it may not be but give it a chance

Also, watch out for my version of "animation" and how I "animate" Voldemort. Don't go looking for any cartoons, though guys, because it's not that sort of animation. After a couple people have seen it and commented, I'll just say what the "animation" is but for now I'd like it to remain a surprise!

Wow, guys! Thanks so much for your compliments! I wish I could re-watch my videos but I've lost them all...again. This time my laptop died and they were all saved on there. And now I see my account at the file hosting website has been deleted b/c I haven't visited in so long. So I can't even download them again. If you guys happen to have any of them and can upload them to a file hosting site like www.filexoom.com (so I can download it), I'd love it! Thanks!

As for how to make videos like that, they are pretty easy...in theory. Basically you use a program to copy the DVD to your computer. Then you use video editing software like Windows Movie Maker (I used Sony Vegas, though) to splice the video into clips and just organize them on the timeline. It does take some time but it's worth it and so much fun! Windows Movie Maker is a great program to start with. It's very user friendly and you can always find help sites related to that program. When you learn how, you can graduate to a more complicated program that offers more features (like effects) and options. I think it's really rewarding, especially when it makes people happy.
