WEASLETTE...GINNY POTTER
Hi all
I've received this news on 11th March, 5:35 P.M. (GMT).
Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has revealed that she wants to pen a novel about a stand-up comedian.

The 42-year-old novelist says that she has a "real thing" about the comedy idea, though she has not started working on it as yet.

"That is not what I'm writing though, so if something comes out next week, I'm not doing it," British tabloid Daily Mirror quoted her as saying.

Rowling is currently planning two books-a "political fairytale" and an adult story.

Personally I'd really like to read the one on the stand-up comedian because I love comedy and humour. Also I think Jk has a fairly good sense of humour herself so it'd be interesting to see her opinions about the stand-up comedian. I am a big fan of stand-up comedy to be honest. I think it's a great art whick requires good stage presence and tacts for one-liners and also the right timing of a thing. Ok, this is going a bit off topic. The thing is I'd like to know all of you all's views about this news (and also its reliablity)

~Happy posting.

P.S.-Just want to say to the MODs that if this is not the right place for this topic, please relocate it on its correct place as I'm not sure where to put this exactly. I posted it here as it was related to JKR.

To tell you the truth, I'd be happy to read anything by Jo. She's already proved that she can do loads of genres - Fantasy, Romance, Comedy etc. so whatever genre she chooses for her next book, I'm certain she'll excel at it.

I agree though, the comedy one would be great, as I do love a bit of comedy. Plus, it would make a change from Harry Potter, as a political fairytale is maybe a little too similar to HP. Still, like I say, she'd be great at writing owt!

Children or adult oriented, I am up for any work that JKR puts forth. I enjoyed HP, although I don't know if I can enjoy a book or series by her as much as I have enjoyed the HP series, I'm all for giving something new a go!

It must be a bit overwhelming to write again knowing the entire world expects you create a work as fulfilling as HP. What an expectation to live up to.

I read somewhere, either yesterday or the day before, that JKR said when she writes again, it'll be another children's type book...like HP even though adults took to it as much as the kids. biggrin.gif She said she felt she owed her young followers more books.

So, I don't know about this Yahoo article, but I have a hard time seeing JKR writing comedy. Call me crazy, but I think when she publishes her next book, it'll be another fantasy type book.

I have to agree with Dorthy, though. It's got to be extremely difficult to write another story in the wake of HP. People are going to expect it to live up to the HP series and will constantly compare anything she writes to it. But hey, no pressure or anything! tongue.gif

That's ditto for me.Comparisons are bound to be made and it's going to be really a challenging task for her to please her fans. I'm a big fan of her writing and would love to read things she writes, although I don't seem to understand clearly what exactly a political fairytale means.. unsure.gif
Here's wishing Jk all the very best for her future endeavours.. smile.gif

I'd have to say that anything JKR writes I'll give a a shot. But I do agree with you guys...anything she writes is going to be tough compared to the HP series. I for one wish they never ended...but I guess you can have to much of a good thing. I heard that she was thinking of writing another novel on magic and stuff...but she was very clear it wouldn't be about HP. She feels she has told his story...and I agree. I hope whatever kind of book she writes next..comedy..fantasy..adult...that it's just as good as the HP series. Good Luck Jo!
